Résumé :
The aim of the study – to analyze the demographic development of the Ferghana Valley and the socio-economic consequences. The methodology of the study. The study used statistical and analytical methods. The data of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics and the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic were analyzed. Research result. The Ferghana Valley is located in the Central Asia region with a length of about 300 km, where about 16 million people live in 2020. About a third of the population of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and about half of the population of Kyrgyzstan live in the valley. On average, this is more than 200 people per 1 square kilometer, which is comparable to the most densely populated areas of India and China. In general, the statistical data used and the analysis of the work in the study become a source of theoretical conclusions and ensure the reliability of the results obtained. The analysis showed that the Ferghana Valley is characterized by a high natural population growth. The share of the rural population in the region is more than 50% and there is a migration of the rural population to the cities. The population in the region, the ethnic composition of the population and migration processes are determined. The Fergana Valley is characterized by a high level of labor migration to the CIS countries and Russia. This study made it possible to determine the main trends in the demographic development of the Fergana Valley and their socio-economic consequences. We see prospects for further research of the problem in a more detailed study of the demographic development of the Ferghana Valley.

The most mudflow-prone regions in Uzbekistan are: Namangan - 19% of all registered mudflows, Fergana - 16%, Surkhandarya - 13%, Tashkent - 12%, Kashkadarya - 11% and Samarkand - 9%. In general, the Fergana Valley accounts for 41% of the total number of all registered mudflows. A sharp increase in mudflow activity is observed in April and May. During these months, respectively, 25% and 35% of mudflows descended. As a rule, these are mudflows that came down as a result of a large amount of precipitation. The most mudflow-prone regions in Uzbekistan are: Namangan - 19% of all registered mudflows, Fergana - 16%, Surkhandarya - 13%, Tashkent - 12%, Kashkadarya - 11% and Samarkand - 9%.

The purpose was to study features of distribution, dynamics of the usual and standardised indicators of oncological morbidity rate of the population of the Fergana Valley, to compare them with the data of the Republic Uzbekistan taking into account influence of climategeographical, industrial and nonindustrial factors of cancerogenesis. Initial material for the research was the data of the Uzbekistan State Statistical Committee and the organizational-methodical departments of the Andizhan, Namangan, Fergana and Tashkent regional oncological clinics from 1996 to 2007. In 1996, the standardised indicator of cancer morbidity of the male population of the Fergana Valley was 117.02 (female - 109.1). There is observed increased prevalence of a number of cancer nozological entities, in particular in the oil production regions - the mammary gland and esophagus cancer, in the cities with developed heavy engineering - the kidney and brain cancer.

Résumé :
According to the results of natural-scientific methods of dating, the lower boundary of the absolute chronology of the Chust culture of the Fergana Valley of the Late Bronze Age — Early Iron Age is presently dated to the 15th–14th century BC. However, this date runs contrary to stratigraphic and comparative-typological evidence from the sites of the “Community of painted pottery” of Central Asia. Analysis of the mutual occurrence of Chust and steppe components at sites of the Fergana Valley allows archaeologists to define the time of the existence of the Chust culture to within the 12th–9th century BC.

During the years of independence, the productivity of farmers has increased due to the growing sense of ownership of their products, and on this basis, the desire to use the available land more efficiently from year to year. This was naturally due to the fact that the population had a deep understanding of the farming culture and experience. The possibility of exporting the crops grown during the reforms in Fergana region to neighboring countries also became a continuation of the reforms
