Résumé :
The digital age has come with lots of misinformation on the internet (web 2.0). The difference between real and fake news is unclear. This paper therefore scientifically employs algorithms and the evolution tree to help in the detection of fake news. Social bots in the spread of fake news are also detected by BotOrNot. The research employs an in-depth qualitative but informal interview with 102 participants who are internet and social media-active as well as prospective Indonesian electorates to investigate the spread and believe in fake news. The result indicates that about 91 of the informants experience the spread of fake news on daily basis, out of which 67 succumb to the truthfulness of the news. This article therefore develops a trend of battling fake news with the application of the Inoculation theory and citizen journalism as tools to eradicate fake news that may emerge before and during the 2019 election. ‘Ohmynews’ and ‘ABC blogs’ in the South Korean 2002 general elections and the Australian 2007 Federal elections respectively will be used as models of citizen journalism to deal with fake news that may trend on the Web 2.0 (where social media application are enabled) in the 2019 Indonesian polls.

Résumé :
The use of fake dental braces provided by bogus dentists is potentially dangerous to users' oral health. However, many people, especially youths, still fancy the use of these fake braces. This study aimed to explore the experience of youths from Klang Valley on the use of fake braces. This qualitative study used the phenomenological approach by interviewing ten youths aged between 16 - 27 years old who were from Klang Valley and wore fake braces. The tenth respondent formed the point of saturation of information in data collection. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore their experience in using fake braces. The interviews were conducted on the phone. Each interview lasted for a period of 10-15 minutes, and the conversations were recorded. The recordings were then transcribed verbatim, and thematic analysis of the content was used to develop the conceptual framework. Five major themes were discerned related to the respondents' views on the use of fake braces: a) physical appearance of teeth, b) influencing factors, c) seeking services of bogus dentists, d) procedures performed, and e) outcome of fake braces services. For youths with physical misalignment of teeth, fake braces are enticing due to the accessibility, availability, and affordability of bogus dentists. However, not all outcomes were perceived as favourable. Some perceived no change in the outcome, whilst most felt that fake braces led to worse consequences. This study's findings can provide the content for developing oral health promotion modules to check this unsafe practice.

Résumé :
As an emerging phenomenon during the US presidential campaign 2016, ‘fake news’ has added a new layer to debates on media truthfulness. Donald Trump’s use of statements which share characteristics with ‘fake news’ and are characterized by an indifference to facts has been magnified by journalists’ inability to effectively fact-check his claims. My article uses the comedy program The Daily Show With Trevor Noah as a case study to highlight its critical interrogation of the media, its exposure of Trump’s communication strategy, and its conviction in finding a discernible truth in relation to fake news. First, I outline the characteristics of ‘fake news,’ then I demonstrate how aspects of the postmodern carnivalesque are present in The Daily Show and used to highlight features of Trump’s assertions. The program utilizes postmodern techniques to both mimic and critique the way in which the statements of the US President are covered by the media. I argue that the The Daily Show employs postmodern techniques such as Jürgen Habermas’s concept of strategic speech to expose similarities between ‘fake news’ and the statements made by President Trump. Moreover, the show utilizes a questioning technique in its interview segments adhering to Habermas’s parameters for communicative speech, which highlights the show’s modernist understanding of a discernible truth.

Fake news becomes a phenomenon in the Kurdish social media. The easiness of use and the political and social environmental crisis of northern Kurdistan besides non-professional dealing by a number of journalists worsen the situation. Despite the fact that fake news does not stemmed from the modern technology of information and the advent of using media for psychology and propaganda war but, the easiness of accessing social media makes the online platforms to be the main mediums of disseminating fake news. The openness of northern Kurdistan towards new communication technology and the semi-freedom of journalistic working and partisan activities help this part of the world to be a spot area for spreading fake news phenomenon; which became an interesting topic for many scholars around the world mainly after the presidential elections of United States of America in 2016. Résumé :
The study aims at improving critical thinking skill of screenagers – students who frequently face their smartphone screens – to be more critical consumers of information in the Internet era. Technological advances have made the instantaneous access to information possible. However, valid information exists in the same context as the fake ones. The challenge now appears to be abilities to distinguish valid and fake information. Using a 10-minute critical thinking activities during the lead in stage as the action, the research explores how integrating critical thinking and problem solving in daily classroom activities help nurture students to be critical in the information coming to their social media accounts. To achieve the objectives, a classroom action research involving cycles of Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting was conducted in an Islamic-based higher secondary school in Tangerang, Banten. This research utilized a teacher's journal, a questionnaire, and an interview guide for eliciting data. The data were analyzed descriptively and the results showed that students’ critical thinking skill improved from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Results from questionnaire showed that students could differentiate fact and opinion as well as analyze information on their screens. A focus-group interview supported students’ improvement on critical thinking skill highlighting that their ability to distinguish valid or fake information improved gradually. Innovative activities that involve teachers, students, and school policy makers with critical thinking skill improvement should be encouraged.

Résumé :
In order to be hired, an applicant is expected to possess and live up to a variety of requirements. Though competences such as previous work experience and levels of studies are easily presented and measurable, this presumably may not be the case of more inexplicit information such as people's personalities and attitudes. The purpose of this study is to understand how recruiters value and determine personalities of candidates applying for executive positions. Furthermore it seeks to examine how recruiters handle potential challenges with trying to determine these personalities. Addressing these questions, we integrate semi-structured interviews with recruiters and an analysis of 100 job advertisements for executive positions. The interviews were performed with 6 highly qualified recruiters possessing substantial experience in recruitment regarding executive positions. Found was that recruiters do not seek to determine personalities, but rather personality traits relevant to the job position in question. These personality traits were something that recruiters argued being taken highly in to consideration when determining who to hire. In order to determine these traits, recruiters proposed several methods. Usually, a personality test filled by the applicant set the tone for the rest of the recruitment process. The recruiters alleged that the result of the test formed behaviour related questions during the job-interview regarding the personality traits of interest. Another method used, which had a clash of believed validity, was the estimation of applicants personality traits by looking at their behaviour during the actual interview. The challenges with trying to determine these personality traits proved to be 1) Misunderstandings between applicants and recruiters 2) Differences in applicants love of ease and skill regarding the job interview as a format 3) Candidates telling outright lies. In order to avoid misunderstandings recruiters asked candidates to give examples from real life experiences. To handle the risk of candidates being skillful in doing interviews a trial of employment was used so that the recruiter had a chance to evaluate the candidate in its executive position. The risk of applicants telling lies was resolved by either a) Trying to explain as little as possible regarding the job, so that the applicant would not be able to form their answers b) By asking follow up questions regarding the personality traits of interest without revealing what was looked for.

The present research aims to understand the behavior of candidates in the selection interview, specifically, the manipulation of information that the candidate makes available to the interviewer to control the impressions formed about themselves. For this, this study caracterizes its participants' profile to explore what kind of candidates are or are not selected and if they manipulate the information about themselves in the interview. Additionally, the study also aims to understand whether organizational attractiveness is a type of context that positively influences the use of this type of behavior, such as realizing if there is a set of sociodemographic characteristics that affect this relationship. Thus, this study had 387 participants. The results indicate that the participants who managed the interviewer’s impressions were the least selected compared to those who showed sincerity in the interview. Furthermore, it was found that the uses of these behaviors increase when the attractiveness of the organization decreases. The male gender was the gender that most manipulated information about themselves and, at the same time, was the least selected, together with those who applied to the public sector and with individuals with less professional experience, who also tend to manage impressions. Theoretical and practical implications were discussed.

Résumé :
The interview of Janez Janša by Janez Janša elaborates on the economy of culture based on the performance Fake it! from 2007, which is described as a translation of seminal choreographies, in contrast to re-enactments or reconstructions. The re-enactment does not render an inherently ephemeral work present, but it underlines its absence. Thus a re-enactment performs the impossibility of being in another place/time; and that is its basic political impact. The choreographies chosen to be performed in Fake it! function as performatives in the Austian sense: by performing them, the economy of their absence and the cultural policy, which supports their absence, are performed. The choreographies in Fake it! are socialized; they became a public good and strengthen the embedding of dance in culture.

Résumé :
Rollerball, the Canadian-born director and producer Norman Jewison's 1975 vision of a future dominated by anonymous corporations and their executive elite, in which all individual effort and aggressive emotions are subsumed into a horrifically violent global sport, remains critically overlooked. What little has been written deals mainly with its place within the renaissance of Anglo-American science-fiction cinema in the 1970s, or focuses on the elaborately shot, still visceral to watch, game sequences, so realistic they briefly gave rise to speculation Rollerball may become an actual sport. Drawing on numerous sources, including little examined documents in the archive of the film's screenwriter William Harrison, this book examines the many dimensions of Rollerball's making and reception: the way it simultaneously exhibits the aesthetics and narrative tropes of mainstream action and art-house cinema; the elaborate and painstaking process of world creation undertaken by Jewison and Harrison; and the cultural forces and debates that influenced them, including the increasing corporate power and growing violence in Western society in late 1960s and early 1970s. The book shows how a film that was derided by many critics for its violence works as a sophisticated and disturbing portrayal of a dystopian future that anticipates numerous contemporary concerns, including ‘fake news’ and declining literary and historical memory. The book includes an interview with Jewison on Rollerball's influences, making, and reception.

Résumé :
Russian-American filmmaker Maxim Pozdorovkin has made a series of films documenting Russia in the age of Putin, including the well-known Pussy Riot (2013), about the radical feminist performance group. This interview focuses specifically on Our New President (2017), which traces the Hillary Clinton/Donald Trump presidential race and the Trump election as depicted in Russian propaganda. Pozdorovkin’s film is a significant contribution to the recent history of recycled cinema. The political weaponizing of media to produce “fake news” is the focus of Our New President. Pozdorovkin demonstrates that in the 2010s propaganda is not so much misinformation carefully embedded in an otherwise informative context, but an attempt to overwhelm by creating total media confusion. He makes clear that in Russia the government controls all major news outlets and hacking into the online networks of other nations is considered patriotism.

Résumé :
Although statistics from recent years indicate a significant trend of increasing the level of interaction in the online environment between the various representatives of organizations and their stakeholders, the COVID 19 Pandemic has generated an unprecedented escalation of this mean of communication. Threats to human health have been supplemented by the near-complete shutdown of economies and employees and their management have faced situations with an unplanned impact. The same sanitary restrictions that imposed the isolation of people in homes encouraged the predominant use, in communication, of virtual channels and favoured the multiplication of the phenomenon called “fake news”. By collecting and processing published and accessible information in the literature, the paper analyses, from an analytical existential perspective, and through a qualitative interview how to make human decisions in the specific context of the COVID 19 crisis and the impact of these “fake news”, propagated with or without intention, on the behaviour of employees and aims to provide some recommendations to the management of these organizations to address the challenges of the coming period.
