Texte intégralBy 2000, in a context of socio-economic concerns, a news so unexpected suddenly rises in the best seats in the galleries media. Commonly called "tournante" by most media release of the Hexagon, the information reveals the existence of collective rape in the mid teens of French neighborhoods. What lead to these ?tournantes?? Some criminalize the adverse effect of the pornography industry but also the dissemination of ICTs - while recognizing that the prohibition of such films on television would be a false solution. The weight of the patriarchal culture in families of immigrant origin has also been put forward by others, and so was it for the influence of fundamentalist Islam. All these arguments have been deconstructed as well scientifically by researchers that public opinion through a vox populi that no longer supports the stereotypes attributed to the suburbs/cities. But the ways to contest have been different, discussions and actions on the passionate and violent themes as social actors to whom the word was circulated in the press.Aspects such as the media and the plurality of speech segments have been identified through work areas as diverse knowledge of each other: Information and Communication Sciences and disciplines audras humanities (sociology, socio-demography, psychology, anthropology...) but also political science, science of medicine, law or criminology

Texte intégralThis doctoral research examines the semantic evolution of immigration-related lexicon in France through a diachronic corpus analysis of tweets from left- and right-wing political figures and organizations between 2011 and 2022. The distributional analysis of linguistic properties and collocations - including modifiers as well as list and parallelism constructions - reveals distinct patterns in the usage and syntactic positioning of terms such as “migrant” and “immigration.” The results show that right-wing discourse, characterized by higher incidence rates, associates immigration with negative connotations, often representing it as a force or action-initiating agent, with increased use of pejorative modifiers and list and parallelism constructions. In contrast, left-wing discourse tends to portray migrants as social actors or beneficiaries, with more moderate use of qualifiers and a higher frequency of list constructions that emphasize conventional categorizations comprising co-hyponyms such as ‘réfugiés (refugees)' and ‘exilés (exiled person)'. These linguistic choices reflect underlying social cognitions, highlighting the semantic instability of immigration lexicon within the online public debate. By shedding light on the role of political discourse in shaping social perceptions and semantic evolution in the digital context, this doctoral research enhances digital databases on public debate, providing the scientific community with an essential analytical tool
Jacquez, Lise. « La controverse autour des expulsions de sans-papiers dans la presse française (2006-2010) : analyse des discours et des enjeux sociopolitiques ». Thesis, Lyon 2, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014LYO20113/document.
Texte intégralThis research concerns the controversy over the deportation of foreign nationals in irregular or illegal situation in France between 2006 and 2010, as well as the mediatisation of this controversy in five national French newspapers: l'Humanité, Libération, Le Figaro, Le Monde and Le Parisien (national edition). The main goal is to understand the socio-political issues structuring the discourses offered by the various social actors that take part in this controversy in the public sphere : the government, activists and advocates for migrants' rights, and the media. This research focuses in particular on ascertaining whether the security-centred management of migratory flows is debated in media discourses. The argument is divided into three parts. The first part gives historical perspective to the position of foreign nationals in the French nation state from the French Revolution to the end of the twentieth century. It illuminates the political difficulties that appear when conceiving of the rights and the position of migrants in a world made of nation states. The second part describes and analyses the political positioning as well as the discourses of the main social actors taking part in the debates on irregular and illegal migration; looking at the state on the one hand, and activist movements on the other. Finally, the third part proposes an analysis of the role played by French newspapers in the construction of the controversy over deportations. The corpus consists of 2602 press articles, which are firstly quantitatively analysed with the help of software Modalisa, and then approached qualitatively (narrative, iconic and argumentative analyses). This research conclusions focus on the interpretative frames most used in newspapers' discourses. It discusses the way these discourses encounter difficulties not only in elaborating a coherent and ambitious editorial line regarding migration, but also in retaining a certain autonomy in relation to political discourses. The conclusions show firstly that there is a clear lack of consensus concerning the increasing repression of illegal migrants, amounting to a real controversy in French newspapers. However, despite this denunciation, newspapers find it difficult both to take a political stand on the situation of illegal migrants, and to mobilise arguments against security-based discourses. Indeed, in order to eschew these approaches focusing on security, newspapers are often limited to invoking humanitarian principles and moral values, and to focusing on the integration (whether it be social, educative, professional) of illegal migrants in French society

Texte intégralConsidered a priority in 2007 during the presidential campaign in France, the question of immigration has become viewed by the State and the media as increasingly serious or significant. State and media interest shown in this matter has identified social conditions associated with the structures of political and journalistic domains and with the relationship that those involved in these domains have with the social environments concerned in this issue. The research that we have undertaken is supported by the views of political figures and media professionals in the formation of the “immigrant question” as a “problem”. The research thus offers a grasp of the practices, strategies and standards which regulate these domains and their diverse sub-groups. This study focuses in particular on the configurations linking those actors involved in reporting on the topic. It considers the emergence of an “immigrant problem” linked with changes relating to public communication, the development of the local communication and journalistic practices. This study has used news reporting practices and the way in which they have shaped this “problem” as a means to comprehend the functioning of the public sphere, since this depends, along with other factors, on how interactions and exchanges are reported in the media
Zamoum, Khaled. « Médias, immigration et stratégies de communication communautaire en France ». Paris 2, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998PA020029.
Texte intégralSince the early nineties, the choice of mass media by immigrants in france has provoked a debate within the political clars. There are two main trends : the first one affirms that it is a problem for the integration strategy, the second considers that information is a human right. The topic witch we have studied is the question whether community media contributes to integration or, on the contrary, preservs the cultural identity of the immigrant population. We have first of all analysed different approaches relating to cultural identity, to integration patterns, to french media policies destinated to immigrants and to the community communication space. Secondly, we have elaborated two surveys concerning social and cultural profile of orient radio auditors and of algerian tv channel. Concerning orient radio, we have pointed out that most of people affirm that this radio strategy is to preserve community cultural identity, while half of them think it contributes to integration to french society. Results obtained for algerian tv public, show that a great amount of people express a need of information about political and economical situation in algeria through the choise of programs. Even if it allows a small proportion of individuals to preserve their cultural identity. Our research work allowed us to conclued that new "beur" generation is based on an intercultural integration pattern, consisting of cultural mixture

Texte intégralTHE LASTWAVE OF SPANISH MIGRATION TOOK PLACE DURING THE THREE DECADES WHICH FOLLOWED THE END OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR, UNDER THE DICTATORIAL REGIME OF THE GENERAL FRANCO. INITIALLY DIRECTED TOWARDS THE LATIN-AMERICAN REPUBLlCS, AND THEN LATER, IN THE 1960'S, TOWARDS AN EXPANDING EUROPE, SPANISH MIGRATION WAS FORCED TO DEVELOP lN AN INTERNATIONAL CONTEXT CHARACTERIZED BY THE TENACIOUS WILL OF STATES TO CONTROL AND ORGANIZE MIGRATORY FLOWS. BASED ON THE CASE OF SPANISH EMIGRATION FLOWS TO ARGENTINA AND FRANCE, THIS WORK EMPHASIZES THE WAY lN WHICH MIGRATORY POLICIES (THAT ARE ASSUMED TO REFLECT THE WILL OF STATES) AND MIGRATORY STRATEGIES (THAT ARE ASSUMED TO ACCOUNT FOR INDIVIDUAL CHOICE) ARE ARTICULATED AND INTERACT. THE STUDY IS DIVIDED INTO THREE MAIN APPROACHES INCLUDING: DISCERNING THE PROCESSES OF CONSTRUCTION OF MIGRATORY POLICIES, HOW THESE POLICIES WERE IMPLEMENTED AND AN ANALYSIS OF THE MIGRATION FLOWS

Texte intégralThe souss area is situated in the south-west of morocco. It is comprised between the southern borders of the big atlas and the anti-atlas. The population of its mountainous region - which is of berber origin - have always led a rural way of life. The hard living imposed by its impropitions environment has led this population to emigrate towards more resourceful areas, and seet another living (trade). Migration has become for this ethnical groups an old tradition, and trade a regional speciality. It is specially in the trade of groceries that this group affirmed it self. The soussi figure even became synonymous with trade, for the great majority of the maroccan traders are from the souss area. In france, soussi traders can be found in all the big agglomerations, but the majority of them settled in the parisian area, specially those who specialised in trade of groceries. In the souss area, the question of the traders' migration - whether national or international - is' of the int most importance for a good comprehension of the social and economic life of this area
