Il saggio si propone di argomentare il complesso passaggio teorico dalla meta-etica all'etica che coinvolge in eguale misura il Rosenzweig de La Stella della Redenzione e il libro incompiuto su Dostoeskij del giovane Lukács. All'interno di questo passaggio si cerca di dimostrare una continuitŕ ideale tra l'etica kantiana e la storia universale hegeliana; la ricusazione č netta e non risparmia nessuna della due prospettive. Entrambe, infatti, nel frammentario testo di Lukács, vengono presentate come appartenenti allo stesso contenitore, la nozione di spirito oggettivo che deve essere condannata senza appello. Da questa condanna emerge un nuovo concetto di responsabilitŕ.

La richiesta, fondamentale per l'avvenire della giustizia, di cui questo movimento si č fatto portavoce non si riduce all'esigenza, pur forte, di mezzi adeguati. Essa propone in eguale misura una questione di fondo: l'avvenire della giustizia, la sua indipendenza, la sua imparzialitŕ e qualitŕ, la sua capacitŕ di salvaguardare i diritti e le libertŕ di tutti. Č questa la giustizia che deve esistere in una democrazia. La Francia ne č, ahimé, lontana.

L’Articolo intende mostrare il ruolo che il diritto alla vita, nella sua prospettiva assiologica, può svolgere all’interno dell’ordinamento giuridico delle democrazie costituzionali. Rilevato il nesso strettissimo tra diritto alla vita e nozione di persona, quest’ultima collocata al centro del sistema costituzionale, l’Autore, nello sviluppare alcune considerazioni di Antonio Baldassarre sulla necessità che il valore vita possa essere bilanciato da un eguale valore, sostiene la possibilità di istituire all’interno della c.d. interpretazione per valori, una gerarchia che abbia al vertice il diritto alla vita quale precondizione di ogni altro diritto. In questa prospettiva il diritto alla vita incide profondamente sullo stesso destino delle democrazie pluralistiche e ne diventa il principio della loro legittimazione.
In altri termini, conclude l’Autore, il diritto alla vita può essere inteso come la Grundnorm senza, però, essere assunta in modo ipotetico e convenzionale secondo lo schema kelseniano, qualificando sul piano giuridico ed etico l’intero ordinamento.

Viviamo un momento storico nel quale il paradigma educativo ed organizzativo che ha ispirato la nascita e l'affermazione della scuola di massa novecentesca mostra tutti i propri limiti. La scuola pare che tenda inerzialmente ad autoconservarsi, a ripetersi eguale a se stessa. Ma non sempre e non ovunque. Nelle testimonianze di alcuni docenti che percorrono con successo nuove modalità didattiche intravediamo alcuni elementi che possono rappresentare una guida per costruire una didattica più adeguata ai nostri tempi. In particolare emerge con forza la centralità di una relazione tra docenti e studenti basata sulla fiducia e sulla responsabilità, che persegua l'obiettivo di rendere più efficace il processo di insegnamen-to/apprendimento. Queste conclusioni si basano sulle dinamiche peculiari che caratterizzano gli adolescenti di oggi, come dimostrato da numerosi studi scientifici. Utilizzando tale approccio gli adulti possono diventare figure effettivamente significative ed autorevoli per i pro-pri allievi, capaci di accompagnarli nel loro percorso di crescita verso la vita adulta.

Nel suo ultimo lavoro Massimo La Torre – Il diritto contro se stesso. Saggio sul positivismo giuridico e la sua crisi – sostiene una tesi ben precisa: se non vogliamo che il diritto sia solo violenza messa in forma, è bene prendere le distanze dal positivismo giuridico.
Il rischio, tuttavia, è che l’antipositivismo finisca con il ‘buttare il bambino con tutta l’acqua sporca’. Il diritto moderno, infatti, prende forma nella dialettica fra morale e potere, fra cosa si decide e chi decide, in termini habermasiani fra “legittimità” e “positività”. Non è detto affatto che questa dialettica riesca a comporsi praticando solo il giuspositivismo, soprattutto poi se esso schiaccia la “legittimità” sulla “positività”. Ma anche un antipositivismo che si sbilanciasse in direzione della morale, di cosa si decide, in breve della sola “legittimità”, finirebbe con il cadere in un errore esattamente eguale e contrario a quello del positivismo.

Cos organizzati, rivelano probabili iniziali riflessioni?CTRLerr type="1" mess="Cesure non typee" ? di Galileo sui pendoli e sulla resistenza dell'aria che egli non pubblic mai, ma che sono comunque utili per comprendere alcune afferma- i zioni nei successivi Discorsi. La scoperta galileiana della legge di caduta richiedeva il rapporto costante scoperto grazie alla misurazione dei tempi del pendolo: e questo molto lontano dall'analisi medievale dell'accelerazione uniforme basata sulla velocit media.

In questo studio sono stati confrontati venti pazienti con diagnosi DSM-III-R di disturbo borderline di personalitê, con un numero eguale di nevrotici (soggetti con disturbi somatoformi o ansiosi secondo il DSM-III-R) e di psicotici (pazienti con diangosi DSM-III-R di schizofrenia o disturbo delirante). I pazienti non-differivano in forma statisticamente significativa per etê media. Tutti i soggetti sono stati sottoposti al test di Rorschach, ed i protocolli sono stati valutati con il sistema di Exner per quanto concerne l’analisi strutturale e con analisi contenutistica. Per quanto riguarda quest’ultima sono state valutate le seguenti scale: scale di barriera e penetrazione di Fisher and Cleveland (1958) ; scala di ostilitê (Elizur, 1949); scala di ansietê (Elizur, 1949); scala di dipendenza ( De Vos, 1952 ); scala di depressione ( Endicott, 1972 ; Endicott & Jortner, 1966 ); scala di sospettositê ( Endicott, 1972 ; Endicott, Jortner, & Abramoff, 1969 ), scala delle difese di Lerner ( Lerner & Lerner, 1980 ). Per quanto concerne l’esame di realtê sono state prese in considerazione le confabulazioni e un grado di maggiore gravitê delle stesse. Quest’ultime sono state tipizzate come confabulazioni nelle quali era presente una iperelaborazione dello stimolo, con tematizzazione di una breve storia, abitualmente drammatica, e dove il contatto con realtê appariva completamente perso. L’analisi strutturale ha indicato che i pazienti con disturbo borderline di personalitê e i soggetti psicotici presentavano un numero maggiore di segni depressivi. L’indice SCZI ha differenziato esclusivamente il gruppo degli psicotici, il quale peraltro Åanche risultato come quello maggiormente compromesso per quanto concerne l’accuratezza percettiva. Le capacitê empatiche e di identificazione interpersonale sono risultate migliori nei pazienti borderline. L’analisi contenutistica ha indicato che i pazienti borderline erano differenziabili dagli altri due gruppi per una maggiore presenza di segni di dipendenza affettiva. Inoltre, rispetto agli psicotici, i pazienti borderline presentavano un maggior numero di segni di ostilitê, e utilizzavano in maggior grado rispetto ai nevrotici meccanismi difensivi di svalutazione ed identificazione proiettiva. I pazienti borderline presentavano anche un maggior numero di confabulazioni gravi rispetto ai nevrotici. I dati di questo studio suggeriscono la possibilitê che vi sia un discreto grado di sovrapposizione tra le categorie diagnostiche dei borderline con altre condizioni pre-psicotiche.

Abstract Objectives To evaluate ESR eGUIDE—the European Society of Radiology (ESR) e-Learning tool for appropriate use of diagnostic imaging modalities—for learning purposes in different clinical scenarios. Methods This anonymized evaluation was performed after approval of ESR Education on Demand leadership. Forty clinical scenarios were developed in which at least one imaging modality was clinically most appropriate, and the scenarios were divided into sets 1 and 2. These sets were provided to medical students randomly assigned to group A or B to select the most appropriate imaging test for each scenario. Statistical comparisons were made within and across groups. Results Overall, 40 medical students participated, and 31 medical students (78%) answered both sets. The number of correctly chosen imaging methods per set in these 31 paired samples was significantly higher when answered with versus without use of ESR eGUIDE (13.7 ± 2.6 questions vs. 12.1 ± 3.2, p = 0.012). Among the students in group A, who first answered set 1 without ESR eGUIDE (11.1 ± 3.2), there was significant improvement when set 2 was answered with ESR eGUIDE (14.3 ± 2.5, p = 0.013). The number of correct answers in group B did not drop when set 2 was answered without ESR eGUIDE (12.4 ± 2.6) after having answered set 1 first with ESR eGUIDE (13.0 ± 2.7, p = 0.66). Conclusion The clinical decision support tool ESR eGUIDE is suitable for training medical students in choosing the best radiological imaging modality in typical scenarios, and its use in teaching radiology can thus be recommended. Key Points • ESR eGUIDE improved the number of appropriately selected imaging modalities among medical students. • This improvement was also seen in the group of students which first selected imaging tests without ESR eGUIDE. • In the student group which used ESR eGUIDE first, appropriate selection remained stable even without the teaching tool.

La pronuncia della Corte costituzionale sul caso UAAR, che ha visto l'intervento delle più alte corti, consente di affrontare il tema dell'esistenza di un diritto all'intesa.
Il ragionamento condotto dai giudici di legittimità trova le sue premesse nella rappresentazione dell’art. 8, 3 comma Cost. come disposizione meramente procedurale, autonoma e non servente rispetto agli altri due commi. In questa prospettiva la Corte Costituzionale ha ridefinito la ratio dell’intesa, individuandone lo scopo non già nella realizzazione dei principi di uguaglianza e pluralismo in materia religiosa, come fino a quel momento sostenuto da larga parte della dottrina e della stessa giurisprudenza, ma nella estensione del metodo della bilateralità alle confessioni acattoliche.
Partendo da queste premesse, dopo una ricostruzione storica della politica ecclesiastica in materia di rapporti Stato-confessioni, che costituisce il contesto nel quale si è posta la questio iuris del "diritto" all'intesa, il presente lavoro intende procedere con un'analisi sistematica dei principi costituzionali che compongono il microsistema normativo riguardante la libertà religiosa, al fine di comprendere se vi siano principi atti a vincolare la discrezionalità dell'Esecutivo quanto all'avvio del procedimento bilaterale.The ruling of the Constitutional Court on the case of UAAR makes it possible to speak about a right to an agreement with the State. The Constitutional Court has redefined the ratio of the agreement between State and religious group, identifying its purpose not in the realization of the principles of equality and pluralism, but in the extension of the method of bilaterality to acactolic confessions. Starting from these premises, after a historical reconstruction of the ecclesiastical policy, this work intends to proceed with a systematic analysis of the constitutional principles t, in order to understand whether there are principles that bind the freedom of the Government with regard to initiating the bilateral procedure.

Can a modern liberal democracy’s criminal law be pleaded as a defense of feelings? The intricacies of regulation issue from the extreme difficulties to sound out psychic processes as well as from the pivotal point, which derives from the undaunted research of criteria capable of preserving the free circulation of expressive displays in a open and pluralist society.
The acknowledgement of liberty is related to the need of equal respect towards different identities, along with diverse life forms coherent to the preservation of a nucleus of values essential to cohabitation.
The perspective of a jurist is aimed to the research of reasonable counterbalances, among the need of respect of individuals and the preservation of forms and communicative contents, of which liberty is itself a basic part of mutual respect, due from each of us to all. The prescriptive model on which to establish a perspective concerning the defense of feelings is the one defined by the contemporary political philosophy as “equal respect”. The normative attainment of a horizon through which feelings and diversity are respect-worthy cannot be not subject to the impetus of contingent disputes; the real requirement consists of setting in advance an equal shape of the (not unlimited) spaces in use to democracy; to grant people, since equal, the chance to live according to their values. The idea of equality itself sets itself up as a line of defense against personal aggressions instrumentally based on feelings as a demeaning factor having a purpose to the detraction of the equal dignity of an individual: to prevent cases of marginalization, of discrimination, as well of democratic reciprocity. Può il diritto penale di una moderna democrazia liberale essere invocato a tutela di sentimenti? Le complessità di una regolamentazione normativa derivano sì dalla estrema difficoltà di sondare i processi psichici, ma il nucleo problematico fondamentale sembra risiedere nella ricerca di criteri che possano preservare la libera circolazione di manifestazioni espressive in una società aperta e pluralista.
Il riconoscimento di libertà si lega all’esigenza di un eguale rispetto delle diverse identità, delle diverse forme di vita compatibili con la salvaguardia di un nucleo di valori essenziali per la convivenza. La prospettiva in cui si muove il giurista è la ricerca di ragionevoli bilanciamenti fra le esigenze di rispetto per le persone e la salvaguardia di forme e contenuti comunicativi la cui libertà è anch’essa parte essenziale del reciproco rispetto dovuto da ciascuno a tutti.Il modello normativo su cui fondare una prospettiva di tutela di sentimenti è quello che la filosofia politica contemporanea definisce come “eguale rispetto”. La realizzazione normativa di un orizzonte nel quale possano essere rispettati sentimenti e diversità non è condizionata all’impulso di conflitti contingenti: la reale esigenza è pre-disporre un assetto paritario degli spazi (non illimitati) di cui la democrazia dispone; offrire alle persone, in quanto eguali, la possibilità di vivere secondo i propri valori. Quale orizzonte di tutela si configura l’idea stessa di eguaglianza contro attacchi personali che adoperino strumentalmente il sentimento (rectius, il modo d’essere e l’identità dell’individuo) come fattore degradante per la negazione della pari dignità della persona: impedire fatti di emarginazione, di discriminazione, di negazione della reciprocità democratica.

As endometrites bacterianas são uma das principais causas de infertilidade na égua. Entre os tratamentos utilizados nesta patologia, estão as infusões uterinas de plasma homólogo acrescido de leucócitos e a infusão de leucócitos heterólogos criopreservados. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo realizar testes in vivo e in vitro, que foram descritos em dois artigos. No primeiro artigo, objetivou-se avaliar in vitro a quimiotaxia dos leucócitos eqüinos em relação a diferentes quimioatraentes, bem como sua vitalidade e produção de radicais livres de oxigênio (ROS) pós-descongelamento. No experimento 1, testou-se dextrose em concentrações de 0, 1, 2 e 6%, acrescida ou não de interleucina-8 (IL-8), como quimioatraente para leucócitos eqüinos suspensos em salina fosfatada tamponada (PBS) ou em R3F; no experimento 2, testou-se plasma homólogo ou heterólogo, a 3% (com ou sem IL-8), 10, 30, 60 e 90%, como quimioatraente; no experimento 3, foi testada a quimiotaxia de leucócitos íntegros em relação a diferentes quantidades de leucócitos lisados. O experimento 4 avaliou a vitalidade e a geração de ROS pelos leucócitos após o descongelamento, comparando quatro graus de diluição em NaCl e PBS. Concluiu-se que a dextrose não apresenta bom efeito quimioatraente para leucócitos eqüinos. Dentre as concentrações de plasma utilizadas, concentrações de plasma homólogo entre 10% e 60% apresentam bom efeito quimiotático. Já o plasma heterólogo apresentou boa atração de leucócitos quando em concentrações de 10% e de 30% Na concentração de 10x106/mL, os leucócitos lisados foram capazes de atrair leucócitos em proporção semelhante à da IL-8. Com relação aos testes-pós-descongelamento, células ressuspendidas em PBS ou NaCl apresentam vitalidade e geração de radicais livres de oxigênio semelhantes, quando incubados por até 15 minutos. No segundo artigo, realizaram-se testes in vivo compararando cinco tratamentos em éguas, em estro, experimentalmente infectadas com Streptococcus equi subsp.zooepidemicus. Foram utilizadas 25 éguas, 20 consideradas resistentes, e 5 éguas susceptíveis à endometrite. Após 24 horas, os animais foram submetidos a exame clínico, bacteriológico e citológico. Com a presença de quadro clínico de endometrite, as éguas eram submetidas a um dos seguintes tratamentos: 1-Infusão de 120mL de plasma homológo com de leucócitos frescos; 2-– Infusão de 4 mL contendo 800 x 106 leucócitos íntegros, congelados; 3-Leucócitos lisados - Infusão de 4 mL contendo 800 x 106 leucócitos lisados; 4- IL-8- Infusão de 4 mL contendo 25 ng/mL de IL-8 congelada; 5-Controle – Infusão de 4 mL de meio R3F congelado. Os exames clínico, bacteriológico e citológico foram realizados diariamente até o sétimo dia pós-infecção, ou até a eliminação da bactéria, ou até a ausência de neutrófilos no esfregaço citológico. Após os exames, as éguas receberam o tratamento designado, sendo estes realizados diariamente até a ausência de crescimento bacteriano no exame microbiológico ou por, no máximo, quatro dias. No sétimo dia, todas as éguas foram tratadas com infusão intra-uterina de 5.000.000 UI de penicilina G potássica cristalina. Após o término de um tratamento, aguardava-se cerca de sete dias para a reinfecção, num outro ciclo, quando um outro tratamento era aplicados. Todas as éguas foram submetidas a todos os tratamentos, perfazendo um total de 125 infecções experimentais num delineamento experimental do tipo Quadrado Latino. Não se observaram diferenças significativas no tempo de eliminação bacteriana nas éguas resistentes. Entretanto, nas éguas susceptíveis, observou-se uma cura bacteriana mais rápida quando as éguas foram tratadas com leucócitos frescos, leucócitos congelados e leucócitos lisados, em relação às tratadas com IL-8 e as do grupo controle. Concluiu-se que o efeito bactericida dos leucócitos viáveis ou lisados, associados ou não à presença de fatores de opsonização do plasma, foi o responsável pela cura bacteriológica e que o efeito quimioatraente de neutrófilos, plasma, restos celulares e IL-8 não influiu no tempo de eliminação bacteriana.

Despite open access to both primary and junior secondary school (JSS), non-enrolment and dropout have been countrywide problems in Ghana. This thesis investigates the nature of student dropout from JSS in one district in the country, through four main questions. What is the relationship between drop-out rates and school characteristics of JSS in K.E.E.A. district? What are the factors causing students to drop out? What are the processes of dropping out? What are the consequences of dropping out? The thesis investigates the above questions in two phases: the first on a macro level, by means of a school survey of all 39 schools in the district; and the second on a micro level, by means of an in-depth study of drop-outs from four schools. In the school survey, among the school factors included in the current study, few showed significant association with the drop-out rates. (However, in subsequent in-depth study, the school characteristics were found to exert some influence; for example, the schools with low drop-out rates had stronger teacher commitment). In the school survey, drop-out rates were clearly associated with gender. The in-depth study of 32 drop-outs from four schools suggested that the cause of drop-out was predominantly finance for males and pregnancy for females. In a comparison of 32 drop-outs and 32 stay-ins, where age, gender, academic achievement and economic status were matched, few differences were found in family composition and school experience. In the examination of matched pairs, drop-outs tended to display particular characteristics, such as belonging to a minority language/ethnic group, or having a slight physical handicap. Parental divorce was common among both drop-outs and stay-ins. The investigation of the process of leaving school revealed that the problem was more complicated than the surface cause might suggest; there were often multiple causes leading drop-outs to abandon their education. When problems such as parents' divorce, belonging to a minority language/ethnic group, or having a slight physical handicap were coupled with poverty, the combination of these factors could cause students to leave school. Although a cause might not be serious enough to effect drop-out by itself, many students were already on the verge of dropping out; thus very little pressure was necessary to cause them to discontinue their schooling. Girls were more vulnerable than boys. Girls in general showed fewer risk factors yet more girls than boys dropped out. In some cases girls would not have dropped out if they had not become pregnant. After leaving school, most drop-outs engaged in economic activities. Only a few drop-outs wished to go back to school, and almost all wished to undertake an apprenticeship to lead to selfemployment. The occupational skills learned in apprenticeship were gender-specific, and women had fewer choices. Inequality was evident at every step; girls were disadvantaged in enrolment, retention, examination results, and in economic activities after leaving school. Education can be an effective tool for empowering the disadvantaged population. However, schooling in rural Ghana was not always meeting the strategic needs of the disadvantaged. Drop-outs, therefore, searched for other alternatives in which they could be successful, such as self-employment in microenterprises.

A endometrite é uma patologia frequente em éguas com eficiência reprodutiva reduzida. A citologia endometrial é um método diagnóstico importante para uma avaliação completa da saúde reprodutiva da égua. Da mesma maneira, o exame de ultrassom para detectar fluido no lúmen uterino, tem sido útil para identificar éguas com problema de limpeza uterina. Os objetivos do presente trabalho foram comparar a avaliação ultrassonografica à avaliação citológica no diagnóstico da inflamação. Foram utilizadas 100 éguas cíclicas, de 3 e 25 anos de idade. As éguas eram examinadas por palpação retal e ultrassonografia a intervalos máximos de 24 horas, com objetivo de avaliar o crescimento folicular e presença de fluido intrauterino. De todas as éguas com folículo maior de 36 mm, e sintomas de estro aptas a serem cobertas, foi colhida uma amostra para citologia endometrial com o auxílio de espéculo e escova cervical. A área de acúmulo de fluido uterino, quando, foi medida utilizando o ultrassom. Caso a altura desta área fosse maior ou igual a 10 mm, era considerado acúmulo de fluido intrauterino. Os dados foram analisados pelo teste Qui-quadrado. Das éguas com fluido uterino antes da cobertura, 14 (14%) apresentaram citologia endometrial positiva, e 6 (6%) tiveram exame negativo. Das éguas que não tinham fluido endometrial, 38 (38%) foram positivas na citologia endometrial, enquanto 42 (42%) das éguas sem líquido no lúmen uterino tiveram citologia negativa (X2 = 4,013). Os 2 métodos utilizados para diagnóstico de endometrite na égua foram discrepantes. A ocorrência de éguas com citologia positiva, sem mostrar acúmulo de fluído intra uterino, sugere que o método de citologia endometrial é mais sensível do que o exame de ultrassom. A presença de FIU com citologia endometrial negativa é atribuída ao edema fisiológico, já que as éguas eram examinadas durante o estro.Endometritis is a common pathology in horses with reduced reproductive efficiency. The endometrial cytology is an important diagnostic method for a complete evaluation of the mares reproductive health. Likewise the ultrasound examination to detect fluid in the uterine lumen has been useful to identify mares with uterine cleaning problem. The aim of this study was to compare the ultrasonographic evaluation to cytological diagnosis of inflammation. 100 cyclic mares were used, with age range between 3 and 25 years old. Were examined by retal palpation and ultrasonography at intervals of 24 hours between one examination and another in order to evaluate follicular growth and presence of intrauterine fluid. Of all the mares with follicles greater than 36 mm and symptoms of estrus able to be covered an endometrial cytology sample was taken and cervical brush. The area of uterine fluid accumulation if any was measured using ultrasound. If the height of this area was greater than 10 mm would be considered accumulation of intrauterine fluid. Data were analyzed by the Chi-square test. Mares with uterine fluid before mating 14 (14%) had positive endometrial cytology and 6 (6%) had negative test. Of the mares that had no endometrial fluid 38 (38%) were positive in endometrial cytology, while 42 (42%) mares without fluid in the uterine lumen had negative cytology (X2 = 4,013). It was concluded that the two methods used for diagnosis of endometritis in the mare were discrepant. The occurrence of mares with positive cytology, but without showing accumulation of IUF, suggests that the method of endometrial cytology is more accurate than ultrasound examination. In the case of the presence of endometrial cytology with IUF negative, can be credited to physiological edema, since the mares were examined during estrus.

O presente estudo teve como objetivo verificar o efeito da aspiração de folículos 25mm sobre a concentração de progesterona plasmática em éguas. O crescimento folicular foi acompanhado diariamente e um único folículo ovariano foi aspirado, exceto quando uma co-dominância foi observada. Neste caso, ambos os folículos foram aspirados no mesmo momento quando atingiram o diâmetro esperado nos respectivos grupos: F ³25mm (n = 6), F ³30mm (n = 6), F ³35mm (n = 6), F pré-ovulatório (n = 6). O Grupo controle (n = 5) não foi submetido à aspiração, acompanhando-se as ovulações espontâneas. A avaliação ultrassonográfica dos ovários foi realizada a cada 24 horas iniciando-se 48 horas antes da aspiração folicular (D0 = dia da aspiração), continuando até a ovulação subsequente. Para a análise estatística, foi utilizada a análise de variância de perfil seguida do método de Tukey com nível de significância de 5% para todas as variáveis, exceto: (1) animais que responderam à aspiração folicular atingindo concentrações de 2ng/mL de progesterona; (2) presença ou ausência de estrutura lútea visualizada pela ultrassonografia, onde foi utilizado o teste do qui-quadrado. A concentração de progesterona foi >2ng/mL, entre os dias 4,0±0,4 e 7,3±0,5 após a aspiração. O intervalo entre a aspiração e a luteólise foi de 16,0±0,5 a 19,0±1,4 dias e entre a aspiração e a ovulação foi de 17,2±2,8 a 23±0,5 dias. A concentração máxima de progesterona alcançada variou entre 6,4±2,6 e 10,9±1,8ng/mL e ocorreu entre os dias 8,7±3,4 e 11,5±1,2. A aspiração folicular em todos os grupos permitiu que as células foliculares se transformassem em estrutura hormonalmente ativa, produtora de progesterona em níveis compatíveis com o diestro.
The present study aims to verify the follicles 25mm ablation effect on plasmatic progesterone concentration in mares. Follicular growth was daily accompanied and only one follicle was ablated, excepted when codominance was observed. At this case, both follicles were ablated at the same moment when achived the expected diameter for the following groups: F ³25mm (n = 6), F ³30mm (n = 6), F ³35mm (n = 6), F pre-ovulatory (n = 6). Control group (n = 5) was not submitted to ablation and the spontaneous ovulations were followed. Ultrasound evaluations of the ovaries were done every 24h beginning 48h after follicular ablations (D0 = day of ablation), continuing until subsequent ovulation. For statistical analysis, profile analysis followed by Tuckey method was used with a significance level of 5% for all variables excepted for: (1) animals that responded to follicular ablation achieving progesterone concentrations of 2ng/mL; (2) presence or absence of a luteum structure observed by ultrasound were analysed by Qui-square test. Interval between aspiration and luteolysis varied from 16,0±0,5 to 19,0±1,4 days and between ablation and next ovulation varied from 17,2±2,8 to 23±0,5 days. Maximum concentration of progesterone varied from 6,4±2,6 and 10,9±1,8ng/mL and occurred between days 8,7±3,4 and 11,5±1,2. In all groups, follicular ablation allowed follicular cells to become an active hormonal structure, which produced progesterone in concentrations similar to diestrous.

Os agentes indutores de ovulação são rotineiramente utilizados na reprodução eqüina, em especial quando da aplicação de biotecnologias. A fim de reduzir custos e otimizar seus resultados, esta dissertação teve como objetivos avaliar o efeito de novos protocolos sobre a indução e sincronização de ovulação, grau de edema endometrial, bem como taxa de desenvolvimento e diâmetro folicular. Foram utilizadas 145 éguas da raça Campolina, entre três e 14 anos, em dois Haras de Conselheiro Lafaiete – MG, Brasil. Na presença de um folículo ≥30mm e de edema endometrial, no mínimo, grau 2 (0-5), as éguas foram randomicamente separadas em grupos e tratadas no dia seguinte (Hora 0) com: 1,0mg de deslorelina (I.M.) (G1; n=20); 0,5mg de deslorelina (I.M.) (G2; n=20); 2.000UI de hCG (I.V.) (G3; n=20); 750UI de hCG (I.V.) (G4; n=20); 1,0mg de deslorelina (I.M.) e 2.000UI de hCG (I.V.) (G5; n=15); 0,5mg de deslorelina (I.M.) e 750UI de hCG (I.V.) (G6; n=10); 10,0mg de ECP (I.M.) (G7; n=10) e, por fim, 1,0mg de deslorelina (I.M.), após pré-tratamento com 10,0mg de ECP (I.M.) no dia anterior (G8; n=10). Vinte éguas não foram tratadas, utilizadas como controle (GC; n=20). As avaliações ultra-sonográficas diárias foram conduzidas até a ovulação (D0) ou Hora 120, o que ocorresse primeiro. A análise estatística valeu-se do Statistical Analysis System (SAS). A taxa de ovulação entre 24 e 48 horas da indução nos grupos G1 ao G6 foi similar estatisticamente, maior ou igual a 75%. No G7, esta foi de 20%, inferior (P<0,01) à obtida no G1 ao G6. Verificou-se taxa de 40% no G8, menor (P<0,01) que a do G5 e G6 (de 100%) e similar aos demais. O ECP não foi capaz de induzir ou sincronizar as ovulações. Não houve benefício do pré-tratamento com ECP em éguas induzidas com deslorelina. O edema endometrial foi maior na Hora 0 em comparação ao momento em que a ovulação...
Ovulation inductors are routinely used in the equine species, especially when modern reproductive technologies are applied. In order to reduce costs and optimize their results, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of new treatment protocols on ovulation induction and synchronization, endometrial edema as well as follicular diameter and development rate. One hundred and forty-five Campolina breed mares, aging three to 14 years, from two Studs in Conselheiro Lafaiete – MG, Brazil, were used. Prostaglandin-induced estrous mares showing one follicle ≥30mm and at least grade 2 (0-5) endometrial edema were randomly assigned to different groups and treated, at the following day (Hour 0), with either: 1.0mg of deslorelin (I.M.) (G1; n=20); 0.5mg of deslorelin (I.M.) (G2; n=20); 2.000UI of hCG (I.V.) (G3; n=20); 750UI of hCG (I.V.) (G4; n=20); 1.0mg of deslorelin (I.M.) and 2.000UI of hCG (I.V.) (G5; n=15); 0.5mg of deslorelin (I.M.) and 750UI of hCG (I.V.) (G6; n=10); 10.0mg of ECP (I.M.) (G7; n=10) and 1.0mg of deslorelin (I.M.), 24 hours post-injection with 10.0mg of ECP (I.M.) (G8; n=10). Twenty mares served as control (GC; n=20). Ultra-sonography was daily performed until ovulation (D0) or Hour 120, whichever occurred first. Data was evaluated through the Statistical Analysis System (SAS). Ovulation rate between 24 and 48 hours post-induction in groups G1 to G6 was ≥75% and statistically similar (P>0.05). Ovulation rate in G7 was 20%, lower (P<0.01) than in G1 to G6. G8 showed a 40% rate, which was lower (P<0.01) than G5 and G6 and similar to the remaining groups. ECP treatment was unable to induce or synchronize ovulations. Deslorelin-induced mares did not benefit from pre-treatment with ECP. Higher endometrial edema scores were identified at Hour 0 compared to the moment an ovulation was detected, when G1 to G6 showed higher (P<0.01) edema scores than control. Used ... This main section of the volume provides over 150 source materials from Portuguese and other European archives, many appearing in English translation for the first time. These documents cover local societies from the Eguafo] to other Akan peoples in Akyem (‘Axim’) to Nkrãn (‘Accra’) to Akan gold merchants in the tropical forests of gold. Portugal dispatched priests, merchants, captains and residents to staff the São Jorge da Mina fortress as well as smaller trading posts at Akyem and a failed one at Nkrãn. The Portuguese imported captives and exported gold from the Gold Coast, setting the pace and trade patterns for their Spanish, French, English, and Dutch rivals in Europe. When the Dutch ousted them in the 1640s, though defeated the Portuguese continue to trade through those who replaced them.

The heparin-dependent inactivation of alpha-thrombin by heparin cofactor II was studied in buffer media with a pH ranging from 6 to 9 and an ionic strength from 0.05 M to 0.80 M. We used a heparin fraction with a mean Mr of 16,000 .The log dose response curves (logarithm of the 2nd order inactivation constant vs. the logarithm of heparin concentration) display a sigmoidal behavior. The lower and upper limiting plateau and the steepness of the ascending limb are characteristic for every pH and ionic strength. Similar log dose response curves can be observed for the heparin-mediated inactivation of factor Xa and plasmin by ATIII,indicating that enhancement of the inhibition only depends on heparin-inhibitor binding despite the presence of heparin-enzyme complexes.This type of inactivation mechanism is clearly different from the one observed for the thrombin- and factor IXa - ATIII interactions which are characterized by a maximum in the log dose response curves.Therefore we can make the assumption that heparin-inhibitor binding is of major importance in the heparin-mediated thrombin-HCII interaction.Our experimental data were fit to a model which describes the dependence of the observed inactivation constant upon the concentration of heparin-HCII complex.This complex concentration is a function of the initial heparin and HCII concentrations and the dissociation constant K0 of the heparin-HCII complex.The model allows the estimation of K0 in various buffer media.A decrease of pK0 with increasing buffer concentration can be observed.The upper limiting plateau value for kobs which is often referred to as the intrinsic activity of heparin also decreases with increasing ionic strength.At pH 7 and 8 and an ionic strength of 0.4 M we-found K0 values of 1.00E-07 M.At pH 6 and an ionic strength of 0.8 M Kq eguals 4.00E-04 M indicating a markedly decreased affinity of heparin for HCII.Through a detailed analysis of the pH profile for K0 we might gain insight in the nature of the binding sites for heparin on the inhibitor.
