Velmakina, Maria S. « Representation of the “Women’s Question” in Official Siberian Periodicals of the Second Half of the 19th – Early 20th Centuries ». Vestnik Tomskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta, no 464 (2021) : 122–26. http://dx.doi.org/10.17223/15617793/464/14.

Résumé :
The aim of the article is to identify and characterize the public opinion on the “women’s question” in Siberian official periodicals of the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The term “women’s question” represents a complex of issues, such as education, labor and professional life, individual freedom, family relations and political rights. The primary sources are the publications of Siberian state-run and eparchy periodicals that reflected the state’s and the Russian Orthodox Church’s official position on this question and at the same time formed the public opinion. In 1857, Gubernskie Vedomosti began to be issued almost simultaneously in four principal centers of Siberian provinces: Tobolsk, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Irkutsk. The official section included regulations, orders, directives of the central and local authorities as well as official announcements. The non-official section included articles on regional topics such as the economy and statistics of the region, ethnographic information, accounts and reports of scientific expeditions. Among other materials, some articles considering “women’s question” aspects were published. A similar structure was used in Eparkhial’nye Vedomosti, the Russian Orthodox Church’s official periodical issued since 1860. Eparkhial’nye Vedomosti started to be issued in Siberia at different times: in 1863 in Irkutsk (Irkutskie), in 1871 in Omsk (till 1898 they were called Akmolinskie), in 1880 in Tomsk (Tomskie), in 1882 in Tobolsk (Tobolskie), and finally in 1884 Eniseyskie. Not only the official periodicals presented the state’s and society’s position on female education (the key aspect of the “women’s question”), but also the Russian Orthodox Church, no less important an institution in the public opinion. The article deals with collective judgments on the “women’s question” communicated through newspaper texts. The main topics of the “question” are identified and characterized: 1) the state of the female education system, 2) the statement of the need for female education, and 3) episodes of the biographies of women who have already changed their social role. Having considered the depiction of the “women’s question” in Siberian official periodicals, the author draws a conclusion that, from the point of view of both the state-run press and the Russian Orthodox Church’s periodicals, the main aspect of that issue was the female education problem, which was the basis for women’s integration into social life. The press formed the opinion on female education development as an important sociocultural phenomenon in the province and a significant fact of Siberian social life. The official state-run and eparchial press predetermined the changes in gender stereotypes in social consciousness.

Résumé :
Tygodnik Polski (Harbin 1922–1942) as a Source for the History of Polish Emigration in China Harbin, a city located in Manchuria in the Far East, became an important centre of Polish emigration in the first half of the 20th century. It was inhabited by a few thousand Polish expatriates, who could attend Polish churches and schools and had Polish social, economic and cultural organisations here. They also published books and periodicals. The longest existing periodical was Tygodnik Polski, a weekly founded by priest Władysław Ostrowski. In spite of financial difficulties and a small number of Poles in Manchuria, Tygodnik survived for 20 years (1922–1942), becoming an important source documenting the life of the Polish community in that area. Among Polish periodicals issued in Asia, it was published for the longest time and was the only Polish periodical in Asia for some time. The aim of the presented paper is to supplement the existing state of research with new information regarding the publication, edition, character and mission of the weekly. Among raised problems, the issues of upbringing and education were highlighted. The research was based on an analysis of annual volumes of Tygodnik Polski.

Résumé :
Scientific and research periodicals play an extremely important part in popularizing (and promoting) results of research studies, though this role is not equally appreciated across different domains of science. This becomes apparent if we compare the number of traditional and electronic titles of periodicals in such disciplines as medicine, natural science and exact science on the one side, and those that represent the humanities, broadly understood, on the other. The advantage of electronic content in the former group is overwhelming. Nowadays, we use two terms in relation to periodicals available online and launched on the electronic platform. The terms make a distinction between a degree of their involvement in the cyber space. “Digitalization” means a certain transitory state between traditional periodicals in print and virtual publications; in other words, a product of “digitization” is an electronic copy (e.g. a scanned text) of a text originally published in print, whereas the notion of “digital authorship (the author as digital producer), in Polish: cyfryzacja” deals with an entirely electronic publication with specific properties underlined by multimedia and hypertext capabilities. Digital research information as an entirely new quality has not been yet appropriately appreciated. The history of education as a discipline of research does not have its own electronic platform that would offer peer-reviewed research papers in Open Access (OA), e-books or electronic document repositories. For the time being, the most recent Polish periodical within this discipline, i.e. Biuletyn Historii Wychowania, has only a front page, ToCs and a masthead available online, without access to full-text electronic content.

Reflecting our federal structure for education, some of the legal development have arisen on the national level but the primary scene of activity relating to the law of gifted education is at the state level. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the legal activity on the federal and state levels. This increasing activity has been largely neglected in legal books and periodicals to date.

Résumé :
The First World War (1914 - 1918) strengthened the idea of self-determination of nations in Europe, while the end of the war created favourable conditions for the creation of new states, including the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia on November 18, 1918. The creation of an independent Latvia State for the first time gave an opportunity to create an education system based on national interests. As a result, the Latvia education system during the period from 1919 to 1934 was transformed according to socioeconomic and political changes, creating for the first time a national education system based on the innovative pedagogical ideas of the given era. Basically, during the period of Latvia's first free state, in the democratic regime, the education system, in compliance with trends in Europe, was dominated by reform pedagogy. The purpose of the article is, based on the content analysis of periodicals and historical sources, to identify the existing values of Latvia education (school pedagogy) during the democratic period from 1919 to 1934, in the context of European educational values. As a result of the theoretical research, based on the content analysis of periodicals and historical sources, the following educational values have been identified as the most important: creativity; discipline; obedience of students; kindness; humility; individualization; personality of the teacher; professional mastery of the teacher; love of the fatherland.

Résumé :
Violeta Miqueli Mayoz de González (Key West 1891- New Jersey 1972) was an educator and an executive member of ethnic and anarchist groups. She actively participated in their direct action and wrote for their periodicals in Key West, Tampa, New York, Mexico D.F., Buenos Aires, and Barcelona. Miqueli identified the systemic violence that the state exercised against workers like her: difficult access to education and healthcare, prosecution of dissenters, and disadvantaged defense of the poor. Miqueli, like other anarcha-feminists of her time, developed strategies of care and political participation with direct action to protect the people when the state did not. Through the alternative press, Miqueli provided alternative sources of information that denounced the systematic state oppression. Her organization participation provided workers with education and distributed solidarity among state prisoners, while mutual aid dignified their health care. This essay and accompanying digital exhibit explore Miqueli's direct action to show how anarcha-feminists disseminated alternative visions of society while utilizing the freedom of association and the press to organize under the state's structural top-down violence.

Résumé :
The study presents the results of quantitative analysis of bibliographic sources on the search word-combination "non-formal education" in open access foreign journals in order to study the history of non-formal education as a scientific term. Data were collected using the EBSCO search resource; the key word-combination of the search was "Non formal education" in the field of education and social sciences. The search time limits cover the period from January 1960 to July 2021. Methods of quantitative analysis of publications in open access foreign journals; monitoring references to the term "non-formal education" in scientific publications; analysis and comparison of data on the study of non-formal education with the subsequent synthesis of hypotheses and conclusions were applied. Conclusions are substantiated that Ukrainian scientific area lacks research on the history of the emergence and spread of non-formal education as a methodologically new educational paradigm and social phenomenon. The lack of established periodization of the formation of non-formal education in Ukraine and abroad leads to the spread of contradictory author's ideas. It is established that the first publications mentioning non-formal education (1964; 1972; 1982) coincide in time with the introduction of the strategy of mass education in most European countries (60-70s of the twentieth century). The use of the term "non-formal education" was associated with a description of the state of access of certain categories of the population to education and the corresponding way of life, which may characterize the correlation between non-formal education and social work. Non-formal education as a part of the scientific apparatus of research began in the field of social sciences, but has become more popular in the field of education and pedagogical research. Quantitative data of publications indicating non-formal education in the scientific apparatus of research mean the possibility of periodization of the formation of non-formal education in the research of foreign authors. The article identifies four stages depending on the number of publications, their content, and the direction of research: 1) the middle of the twentieth century-1980s − the stage of considering non-formal education as a tool of social changes, a means of overcoming the crisis in education and giving it a more mass character taking into account the social status and individual characteristics of different categories of the population; 2) 1980s-1990s − the stage of transfer the term "non-formal education" in the field of pedagogical research; 3) 1990s-2010s − the stage of origin and spread of the concept of lifelong learning, accompanied by growing interest in nonformal education as a form of lifelong learning; 4) 2010s-2020s − the stage of rapid growth in the number of publications on non-formal education, which reflects the scientific interest in the application of non-formal education for social transformations and responses of the information society.

Ezerinya, Svetlana A. « Reviews of Russian periodicals in “The Journal of the Ministry of National Education” : Evaluative adjectives in an official government publication ». Media Linguistics 8, no 1 (2021) : 169–79. http://dx.doi.org/10.21638/spbu22.2021.206.

Résumé :
By the 1830s, the role of literature and journalism in shaping public opinion and promoting state ideology was growing in Russia. One of the first attempts of the government to take control of this process was the decision to publish The Journal of the Ministry of Education, with a mandatory review of domestic periodicals. The most important communicative purpose of the review of texts was to familiarize readers with the most important and well-meaning publications of Russian-language periodicals from the point of view of editorial reviewers. The inherent evaluative component of these texts is obvious, for the purpose of which all possible linguistic means allowed within the official publication were used, a significant role among which was assigned to evaluative adjectives and attributive collocations as the most capacious and concise characteristics of the described object. The objects of macro-evaluation through adjectives were peer-reviewed articles, their authors and periodicals on the whole; relevance, quality, educational value, accuracy and usefulness of the publications, their compliance with the official views, the author’s style, some individual facts of their content, etc. were subjectto adjectival micro-evaluation. In the journal’s reviews of Russian periodicals, there are approximately100 different-typed evaluative adjectives, including both adjectives of general evaluation (otlichnyi, otmennyi, prevoskhodnyi, khoroshii, etc.) and of a partial one. The mostcommonly used of all evaluative adjectives throughout the existence of reviews were the adjectives liubopytnyi ‘having cognitive value’ and zamechatel’nyi ‘worthy of attention’, which cover almost all sections in the reviews. By the 1860s, the style of writing media-reviews in the journal became well established. During this time, individual author’s words and attributive collocations almost go out of use and rows of homogeneous attributes become rare. Additionally, the range of evaluative adjectives involved is narrowed and impoverished, and they themselves get an exclusively neutral stylistic colour, which is specific to the official publication.

The object of this research is the process of reception of the Soviet school of 1920’s – early 1930’s in the English periodicals and the role of a prominent English pedagogue-comparativist, the former Russian emigrant Nicholas Hans (N. A. Gantz). Leaning on the traditions of pre-revolutionary Russian pedagogy, practice of the Russian pedagogical emigration and accomplishment of the English pedagogical thought, using the comparative-historical approach, N. Hans depicts the established in USSR system of education in the context of confrontation between the two educational traditions: democratic and autocratic. Despite the fact that the name of N. A. Gantz has been returned to the Russian pedagogy back in 1990’s, the English period of his scientific and teaching activity yet remains insufficiently studied. The authors introduce into the academic discourse a number of his unknown articles dedicated to the history of Russian school and the state Soviet education of the 1920’s – early 1930’s, which were previously published in English periodicals. The article traces N. Hans’ participation in “Pedagogical Annual” and presentation of the Russian theme on its pages.

Résumé :
This essay explores the development of the term “policymaker” by reviewing major periodicals from 1870 until 1940, with particular focus upon the period of 1920 to 1940. Events of this period provide insight into the conditions under which “the policymaker” emerges as a concept. Although “policymaker” is today a commonplace, this was not always so, as a simple overview of the term’s usage indicates. In fact, the term itself was virtually unused until about 1940 in both periodicals and academic journals. This essay contends that the idea and identity of the policymaker take shape alongside the development of the administrative state, a contention explored through a consideration of how the policymaker develops in the context of debates about education policy and about executive requirements in the period of 1920 through 1940. The essay concludes with a consideration of the policymaker as a modern political identity.

The article focuses on newspapers which were issued by Mari State Pedagogical Institute named for N. K. Krupskaya and had a rather large circulation. The periodicals chronicled events in the life of the institute since 1957 till 2007. The relevance of the research is accounted for by the fact that Mari State Pedagogical Institute and its periodicals remain largely underinvestigated. The aim of the article is to study the history of higher pedagogical education in the Republic of Mari El through the prism of newspapers issued by the said institute. Newspapers issued by the institute truthfully reflected events in the life of the institute. The author underlines that institute newspapers played an important role in the formation of pedagogical education in the Republic of Mari El in the 20th — early 21st centuries.

Résumé :
The historical preconditions for the emergence of the domestic system of civil aviation flight training in Ukraine were its active actions in the process of the development of aviation and aircraft construction. The particular aim of this article is to study the historic development of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, to find out how it became the cradle of Ukrainian aviation and plane construction, to highlight and characterize the key persons who influenced the development of the domestic aircraft industry, to give the comparative characteristics to old educational and modern principles of aircraft constructors training. To solve the tasks of the article, a set of research methods was used, due to its subject, goals and objectives: comparative analysis (theoretical analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization of scientific sources, periodicals to solve this problem and clarify the conceptual apparatus of the study); chronological and diachronic (determination the development and essential changes in preparing the aircraft construction personnel in KPI); search and bibliographic (systematization and classification of pedagogical, methodical, scientific literature, archival materials, periodicals on the aeronautical achievements in Kyiv Polytechnic Institute); comparative and historical (analysis and comparison of socio-pedagogical phenomena that make it possible to identify positive inputs in Ukrainian aviation industry). Comparing educational methods at the beginning of the XX century and the beginning of the XXI century, it should be noted that now in addition to generating talented ideas the student should have many professional competencies. In addition to strict requirements for future specialists, the state also makes certain requirements for higher education institutions that train future aircraft designers.

Résumé :
The article reports a study that aimed to analyze the state of the art of the research produced in Mozambique on initial teacher education (ITE) in its relationship with education policies. A mapping of studies on “initial teacher education in Mozambique” was carried out, through scientific articles and doctoral theses written by Mozambicans in the period between 2012 and 2017, and 20 articles were identified. However, seven articles were excluded because they had not been published in journals or periodicals. Regarding the theses, four were identified. For the identification of articles and theses, the keywords initial training/education, teachers, and Mozambiquewere used. The findings suggest diverse approaches to ITE, with an emphasis on criticizing the diversity of teacher training models, issues of school inclusion and inclusive education. In particular, the intentions of the discourses conveyed in educational policies were not reciprocated in Initial Training Education curricula and in the professionalization of teacher training.

Based on Publons and the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) data, we analyze the state of peer-review procedures' implementation in Bulgarian SSH (Social Sciences and Humanities) scholarly journals. We establish the beginning of Bulgarian journals' transformation and the application of a specific peer-review Bulgarian model in terms of attracting foreign reviewers. At the same time, compared with our neighbouring countries, an apparent abandonment and lack of evaluation procedures' verification is observed. The paper also justifies the need to improve the higher education policy in introducing adequate criteria tracking the status and actual implementation of peerreview in scientific periodicals.

The purpose of the article is to trace the path of national education from Kiev Rus to the Soviet Union. The task is to summarize the key events and key concepts in the history of the formation of education in Ukraine through the prism of language picture of the world of the Ukrainian people, as language reflects all problems of the nation at each historical stage of its development. Our study is relevant in terms of reformation of Ukrainian education and appropriate processes: the accession of Ukraine to the Bologna Process in 2005, implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” (2014), discussion of the draft of the new Law of Ukraine “On education”. The research is based on the analyses of the following texts: “Ukrainian Encyclopedia”, which presents the history of education in close connection with the general history of Ukraine, “History of Education in Ukraine” by S. Siropolko, “Ukrainian small encyclopedia”, ed. prof. J. Onatskyi, “Encyclopedia of History of Ukraine”. We have classified the language means of education representation into several thematic groups taking into account the time, geographical and political features of the country in each period. They include types of educational institutions of different levels, forms of authority and funding sources of educational institutions; education authorities; stages of education development; education regulations; cultural and educational organizations and their periodicals; student organizations and their periodicals.

Along with the tasks of ensuring accessibility of preschool education, updating the content and improving the quality of preschool education, the problem of professional training of teaching staff has become urgent. The training of preschool specialists to solve the personnel issue of the region has been carried out in the Tambov region since the inclusion of preschool education in the state public education system. During this time, a great deal of theoretical and practical experience has been accumulated, which is advisable to rethink and use at a new stage in the implementation of this area of state policy in the field of preschool education. Materials and methods. The main sources of the research were materials from the funds of the State Archives of the Tambov Region, published sources and periodicals. Results. A retrospective analysis of the system of professional training of preschool teachers in the Tambov region in the period from 1918 to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War was carried out. The characteristics of various types of educational institutions that train preschool specialists in the Tambov region are given, giving an idea of the formation of a state multi-level system of professional pedagogical training of specialists in preschool education: training in short-term and long-term courses, in pedagogical technical schools, in universities. Attention is focused on the dependence of the duration, forms, methods and content of professional training on changes in the directions of state policy, as well as under the influence of socio-economic conditions of life in the country. Conclusion. It is concluded that in the Tambov region in the period from 1918 to 1941, professional training was carried out, first of all, for practical workers of preschool institutions (kindergarten teachers and workers of children's summer playgrounds) through the organization of course training, as well as in secondary specialized educational institutions (since 1923). The experience of university training was short-lived (1918- 1923) and was associated with the opening and subsequent reorganization of Tambov State University.

Con-clusions dwells upon the fact that the period of formation of the Soviet children’s and school cinematography in the 1920s was accompanied by difficulties of creative, logistical, financial nature. At the same time, the influ-ence of the bourgeois and pre-revolutionary system of moral values was overcome, but advanced technologies and methodological experience of the West of using cinema in education were not ignored and borrowed. In order to effectively develop the children’s film industry, an administrative resource was actively involved. In general, the leadership and the pedagogical community of the first decade of Soviet power were characterized by a close attention to the educational and educational role of cinema in the formation of the “new man” of So-viet society.

AbstractThis paper uses the writings of European teachers and Chinese students at St. Stephen’s Girls’ College in Hong Kong—published in English periodicals of its school magazine and local English newspapers—to examine how the school tactically positioned itself as an educational site for the “useful women of China” during a period in Republican China that was simultaneously defined as a time of “cosmopolitan modernity” and “national rebuilding.” St. Stephen’s brand of usefulness responded to the “New Woman” phenomenon in Republican China, and it was defined through the narrative of science learning and a sense of service. Through its progressive science curriculum and social service branch, the school helped prepare a class of “career women” for China. It was in educating this class that St. Stephen’s, in resonance with the colonial state, envisioned its role in the shaping of modern China.

Résumé :
The review is written on a 2019 book Samizdat in the USSR: Texts and Lives by Yu.A. Rusina. The author of the book discusses a relevant problem of the recent history of the country and analyses the phenomenon of samizdat (self-publishing) in the second part of the 20th c. Three main definitions in the conception of samizdat are given: samizdat as (1) a cultural phenomenon of “another”, “different” culture which supplements official culture; (2) a phenomenon of self-organization of society in the cultural sphere, self-reflection of society and its informational activity; (3) a historical source, which is very important for studying dissent and the dissident movement in the Soviet Union. Rusina is investigating the second and third definitions of samizdat. She consistently analyses samizdat: open letters and appeals, document digests, periodicals, court proceedings. The analysis shows figures and fates of people disagreeable with the regime, for instance, A. Ginzburg, Yu. Daniel, A. Sinyavsky, the disgraced General P.G. Grigorenko, V. Bukovsky, V. Rutminsky, and others. A separate section of the book is devoted to periodicals, journals which were particularly important for the development of opposition movements, dissemination of opinions and information, and for legal and humanitarian education. Rusina thoroughly examines Chronicle of Current Events, sociopolitical, national, and religious journals Political Diary, Obshchestvennye Problemy [Social Issues], Veche, Vestnik Spaseniya [Messenger of Salvation], Exodus, Herald of Exodus, The White Book of Exodus, and others. She analyses not only metropolitan manifestations of dissent but also samizdat in province: student literary and artistic-journalistic periodicals that published works of students of the Ural State University. The book is interesting and significant by itself and also as a source for the following historical and philological studies of the opposition movement in the USSR.

Résumé :
Despite extensive engagement, children were invisible in the programs of the nineteenth-century Protestant missionary conferences. By the early 1900s this had noticeably changed as denominations and missionary organizations sought to maximize and enhance juvenile missionary interest. Childhood was the key stage in which to establish habits; the future depended upon “the education of the childhood of the race, in missionary matters as in all others.” Literature was pivotal and periodicals were deemed to be the most effective literary form. They provided the young with “impressions which will never be lost . . . nothing will appeal to the young more strongly than stories from beyond the seas, of strange people who know not of Christ, but who need His gospel.” Juvenile missionary periodicals were ubiquitous in Britain, Europe, and America, but they are still only partially understood. Adult and juvenile literature was qualitatively different so that “any adequate analysis . . . requires to be grounded in an understanding of the construction of childhood in the Victorian and Edwardian eras.” This task remains very much a work in progress. Most recent scholarship tends to discursively situate children's periodicals with respect to religion, culture, and politics. All agree on at least a broad two-fold function: the spiritual and the philanthropic. Periodicals per se were an integral part of a large and pervasive Victorian corpus of juvenile religious and moral literature. At the same time missionary periodicals were different. They emphasized child agency by encouraging a “participatory relationship” between readers and their subject. Children became active agents “in a diaologic relationship with [their] world.”

In his State of the Union Address (1990), President Bush proposed planting a billion trees annually for the next 10 years. Organizations such as Global ReLeaf are planning to plant 400 to 600 million trees by the year 2000. A review of science education periodicals and general information available on tree planting and care reveal little directed to children. Science education tends to focus on the nature, not the handling of trees, and where planting ideas are suggested, they tend to be about growing trees from seed. To determine the level of landscape tree care knowledge of 4th–6th graders, a questionnaire addressing how trees grow, site and tree selection, proper planting, and other areas was administered by 4-H agents and Univ. of Florida students throughout the state during five camps, involving 211 children during the summer of 1995. The questionnaire was revised with additional topics such as irrigation and mulching added and administered during three 4-H camps involving 77 4th–6th graders. Answers to these questionnaires were used to develop materials targeted for this age group and their teachers.

The interpellents argued that in Nov’; and a number of other primary school textbooks approved by the ministry, the authors’ biased texts were anti-monarchical and anti-state, pitting one class against another, killing the people’s religiosity and developing anti-militaristic sentiments. The parliamentarians involved in the debate found themselves in the unusual role of literary critics, children’s reading leaders, and experts in primary education. An analysis of this mishap, its background and consequences, and the discussion in the State Council itself reveals that in the interrevolutionary decade other institutional players besides the state emerged in the field of education policy: zemstvos, school and school boards of trustees, teachers’ public organizations, educational periodicals and, later, political parties. In the absence of curricula for primary schools, the content of teaching was in fact determined by the educational literature that the zemstvo purchased for the schools in its district, choosing from an extensive list of publications permitted by the Ministry. However, state censorship was not an obstacle to the active work of liberally-minded educators in publishing and promoting textbooks, which provoked such a strong reaction from right-wing conservatives. The reading book became the subject of a political struggle for the opportunity to determine the ideological agenda of public education.

Résumé :
The twentieth century in the history of mankind is rightfully considered to be the epoch of the beginning of an intense negative anthropogenic impact on nature. During this period, awareness of environmental education of the population becomes particularly relevant. They were beginning to pay special attention to it in the educational system. This paper discusses the general state policy of the Soviet leadership in the development of school environmental education. Using the example of the Kuybyshev Region, the analysis of various approaches and methods to environmental knowledge popularization among students in the 80s of the 20th century is given. The choice of such a short time interval is explained by a special attention of state bodies to environmental culture improvement. The paper describes the role of outstanding teachers in the development of school programs on ecology. The author pays special attention to periodicals and journals of bioecological content, which were a worthy help for environmental literacy development among students. The publication is based on archival materials from the funds of the Central State Archive of the Samara Region that most reveal the problems of the study. The information presented in the paper is aimed at studying some issues of the environmental education formation in the Samara Region. The materials obtained can serve as a basis for further study of the issues under consideration.

Résumé :
The present study performs a diagnosis of the scientific productions in Brazil about the Pedagogical Residency Program (PRP), from 2018 to 2020, in the repositories CAPES Periodicals and BDTD. Three dissertations and 41 articles were found. The results showed that the contributions of the program in initial training, the experiences of pedagogical practice and the studies relating the supervised internship and the PRP were the most recurrent themes in the analyzed publications. It is possible to conclude that the program has contributed to initial and continuing teacher education from a critical and reflective perspective of pedagogical practice, highlighting the importance of the collaborative process in the dialogue between university and school, and the articulation between theory and practice. On the other hand, it also presents the concern with the implementation of the program in terms of curriculum guidelines aligned to the BNCC, the overvaluation of practice and the permanence of effective public policies for training.

Résumé :
The urgency of the topic of the scientific article is due to modern political science, gender and national studies of women’s movements in European countries, including the Polish women’s movement, which began and developed in Lviv, along with the Ukrainian women’s movement. The aim of the article is to analyze and review the issues of Polish women’s magazines published in Lviv in the XIX century in order to clarify the main topics, conscious paradigms of the Polish women’s movement, value concepts of Polish women’s periodicals, transformation of views on women’s political role in traditional societyб her participation in public and state life through radical journalism. The scientific article analyzes the negative stereotypes about the traditional role of women in public life on the example of Polish women’s magazines «Ster», «Przedświt» and «Ziarno», published in Lviv in the XIX century. It was found that the traditional views on the role of women are outdated, while the pages of Polish women’s magazines promote: women’s education, self-education, creative realization of women as individuals. The traditional formula for women in society, which has been reduced to marriage and the birth of children, has been criticized for being superficial. In the columns of Polish women’s publications of the 19th century in Lviv, a significant place was given to women’s education and the formation of national and political education, which indicates the «serious» nature of these publications rather than the entertainment that dominated Polish women’s periodicals. In the articles of Polish women’s publications of the early twentieth century, a new type of woman is formed − the «political type» of a woman who is not indifferent to the political life of her people and her country. It is this feature that characterizes women’s periodicals as the political dominant in the materials of magazines. Research methods. The study used a set of general and special methods: the method of conceptual analysis in determining the Polish women’s movement; thematic analysis in determining the main topics of the publications «Ster», «Przedświt» and «Ziarno»; synthesis in the study of methods and forms of strug- gle of active women for their political rights. Results and conclusions. The active political role of a woman-citizen is a conscious concept of the Polish women’s press, which was expressed in debunking active women of negative stereotypes about the passivity of women.

Résumé :
The issue of school education in the mother tongue, which is part of a wider issue of the rights of national minorities in a civilized society, is still topical in Latvia nowadays. In this respect, the attitude of Latvian publicists towards the education in native language in the second half of the 19th century may be of interest, as they largely articulated the wishes and demands of the people to the ruling regime, when Latvians were struggling to obtain education for their children in their mother tongue opposed to the offi-cial language of the state. Based on the study of Latvian periodicals of the second half of the 19th century, the author con-cludes, that speaking about the use of the mother tongue in schools, Latvian publicists defended both na-tional and classical liberal values. It was found that their arguments about the need for a consistent use of the mother tongue in the education system were still incomplete, but they cannot be scientifically denied even today.

Résumé :
The article shows that the Russian scientific and pedagogical press of the last third of the 19th– early 20th century fully reflected the state of Russian pedagogical consciousness, namely the presence in it of different positions on the issue of the system of values and the ideal of education of the younger generations of Russians. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that the priority task of the Russian Federation at the current stage of its socio-cultural development is the formation of new generations with knowledge and skills that meet the requirements of the 21st century and who will share traditional moral values and ready for peaceful creation and defense of the Motherland. Education is the key tool for solving this problem. And analyzing the experience of previous eras in this process is very important. The source base of the study was the national scientific and pedagogical press of the last third of the 19th - early 20th century, which numbered about 300 publications. Applying various research methods for its analysis (cultural-historical genetics, concepts of modernization of society and education, sociocultural approach to the study of the past pedagogical reality, as well as the paradigmatic approach to the study of pedagogical phenomena of the past), the author found that in the Russian educational space through education reproduced two polar worldviews and value systems generated by them: sociocentrism (focused on the implementation of the traditionalist-conservative, conciliarity ideal of education) and anthropocentrism (aimed at the implementation of the liberal ideal of education). The author came to the conclusion that the split of pedagogical consciousness and educational space of the country gave rise to the desire of scientists and pedagogical practitioners to eliminate this situation through the development of dualistic ideal of education. All the above-mentioned ideals and value systems received their argumentation on the pages of Russian scientific and pedagogical publications of the turn of the 19th – 20thcenturies.

Résumé :
The article provides an overview of the works of E. De Amicis published in Russian and stored in the collections of the Fundamental Library of the Herzen State Pedagogical University. Most of the publications contain certain book signs, by which you can find out the history of the existence of each copy and trace the path of their entry into the library. The books of E. De Amicis were very popular, therefore they were present in almost every library oriented to the children’s readership: libraries of state institutions (for example, the library of employees in the Ministry of Finance, the library for employees of the State Bank) and various educational institutions (schools, colleges, institutes), public children’s libraries and personal collections. Recommendations for the purchase of books by E. De Amicis for reading to children came from both official departments of the Ministry of Public Education and specialists in children’s literature as part of various indexes and on the pages of periodicals. The main attention is paid to translations and editions of the most popular story “Cuore”, as well as editions of individual stories extracted from it. Their number was difficult to name already at the beginning of the 20 th century.

Résumé :
The article considers the role and place of the subject «foreign language» in the education system in the first Soviet decade. The events of 1917 changed the activities of general educational institutions and the content of educational programs. New ideological and educational priorities, organizational reasons led to practical cessation of foreign languages teaching in general education institutions. Positive changes have been taking place since the second half of the 1920s. Strengthening international cooperation and solving the problems of industrialization contributed to an increase of the need for people who speak foreign languages. Attempts were made to popularize the Esperanto language. Children’s periodicals are valuable sources on the history of education. The newspaper «Pionerskaya Pravda» paid great attention to education, including the teaching of foreign languages. The pages of the «Pionerskaya Pravda» were reflected various aspects of the organization of foreign language education, the existed problems and achieved success. The change of state policy regarding to the teaching of foreign languages has led to an increase in the number of publications related to this topic. The content of the publications was aimed at increasing the motivation of schoolchildren to learn a foreign language.

Few scholars have tackled dailies from the point of view of their untypical editorial and formal features periodical or non-periodical publication and the related problems with their formal and substantive description. The fact that occasional dailies have been incorporated into the collections of digital libraries and the growing number of bibliographic compilations, including Volume 16 of the Polish Bibliography 1901–1939 devoted entirely to such publications, stimulate the interest of historians of the press, linguists, sociologists, ethnographers, culture scholars, historians of social movements, politics and economy, historians studying the customs and traditions of various ethnic and professional groups, localities and education. Résumé :
This review focuses on the history of the electronic scientific and educational journal “ISTORIYA”, stages of its formation and the factors influencing its development. The emergence of online journals, distinguished by the dynamic nature of filling the editorial portfolio providing a much higher level of scientific communication compared to traditional print publications, was a reflection of the rapid introduction of Internet technologies into the daily practice of the humanities. This led to a search for informational and technological solutions that would automate the ways of communicating and processing scientific periodicals against the background of the growth of publication activity and the widespread use of scientometrics. One of such solutions was the creation of publishing platforms, a striking representative of which was JES (Journal of Education and Science) developed in Russia in 2013, which subsequently provided automation of the editorial-publishing cycle for a number of socio-humanitarian journals. The Journal “ISTORIYA”, which at the time served as a guide to technological solutions that took into account the most current trends in the development of forms of scholarly communication, was a flagship publication of the platform. Due to this advantage? the Journal “ISTORIYA”, created by the efforts of the State Academic University for the Humanities and the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has managed not only to take its rightful place among the leading scientific periodicals in a relatively short period of time, but also to acquire a reputation as a media of the highest quality, becoming a “business card” of successful integration of science, education and modern information technology.

Résumé :
This study aimed at providing a brief overview of ISIS’s ideology and origins as starting points for an analysis of its propaganda strategy. How did ISIS utilize its ideological propaganda wing to achieve its socio-educational goals? An intrinsic case study is used to provide an overview of ISIS’s key multi-lingual propaganda documents and media modes. It is these documents and modes of media that ISIS uses as primary sources for its propaganda strategy, which is employed through vocabulary reinforcement, in addition to piece-meal usage of Qur’an and Hadith. Through the intrinsic case study, this study illustrates precisely how ISIS’s ideology is reflected through both content and form. Since ISIS’s inception as an offshoot of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), ISIS has learned to constantly reposition and remarket itself as a needed response to the needs of the umma. It is only by understanding the periodicals that ISIS has developed over time that one can do justice in delving into ISIS’s strategy of sociolinguistic terrorism. Résumé :
Today, a sufficiently developed reader chooses a publication that provides informative and expert information according to his interests, tastes, culture and level of education. In recent years, we can see that the demand for industry journalism has increased more than universal journalism. That is why it is one of the most important issues to differentiate mass media in our country and region and consider effective ways to increase the number of readers. The author points out that the market of modern periodicals is filled with newspapers and magazines of different directions, topics, formats, sizes, and regional industry press occupies a special place among this diversity. It is clearly shown that it is the main source of information in the districts and regions, a center of socio-cultural relations, coordinating the life of the local population and forming public opinion. The article examines the originality, formation, development history, functional purpose of the modern regional press, and defines and analyzes the current face of the press in the Syr region. It is shown by examples that the regional press plays a great role in strengthening and improving the independence of the state. Based on the fact that the periodical press is going through a period of complex transformation, the author of the article concludes that in order to effectively implement their activities, regional publications need to stimulate the civil activity of regional readers, in addition to showing the truth and increasing the quality of information products.
