Texte intégralThis thesis forms part of the common Intelligent Transportation Systems which in turn are based on the application of telecommunication and Informatics (Telematics) to traffic management which belongs to the domain of Traveller Information. The principle identified problems are the lack of a common vocabulary of elements which use a well defined semantic description which permits obtaining the meaning (including the non-explicit) of each concept of rural traffic as well as obtaining information from different heterogeneous sources in an intuitive and simple way.Different aspects describe the actual problem related to the access and distribution of information:1. High volume of traffic information is distributed over different web sites. The main problem for a user who needs such information is to find such webs and handle the different ways of access and presentation2. On the other hand, the users need information of a different nature or type, and the storage of such information on a simple site would be too costly as well for maintenance.3. It is no possible to obtain any information if this information is not explicitbefore, After defining the existing problems and identifying the elements which could solve this situation, the present work focuses on those ITS-systems which provide traffic information to the user, its handling and exchange, in an efficient way between the elements which compose the architecture of traffic information systems, such as users applications and information providers.Different elements have been developed as an integral part of an architecture:1. Construction of an ontological infrastructure which domain is covered by road traffic information,2. A framework was defined for the conversion of conventional web portals to semantic web services (SWS),3. Extension of the existing methodology for the construction of ontologies based on ER model,4. A SWS matching algorithm was designed, implemented and evaluated which make maximal use of the capabilities of the ontologies of the service description, which constitute an improvement of the existing ones.5. A number of proposals were demonstrated which permits creation and handling of Semantic web services of road traffic information.

Texte intégralThe implementation, by local collectivity, of a VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) in secondary schools and high school is not without consequences for the educational community daily activities. Our study aims to understand emerging uses by carry out a decomposition of the appropriation process. It also responds to an institutional command whose aim is turned toward the promotion and stimulation of the utilisation of this type of tool. Therefore, our objective is to create a model to understand which are VLE users and how is managed the transition between uses prescribed by the creators and observed behaviors. For its concretization, our model is built on a set of preliminary work.- The operating frame study based on interviews with prescribers and the analysis of the Lorraine VLE project specification chart.- The use frame study, on one hand, through uses counter measures from the CDC (Caisse des Dépôts group), on the other hand, by questionnaires upon which functions we report first uses and social representation of a VLE and his book-texts by students, teachers and parents. The model pattern, supported by a robust literature, is called: DAME (Dynamic Acceptance Model for Education). It was applied to a population of 3,100 students, 774 parents, 617 teachers and 44 staff members of school life. The results show in a first step, the importance given to "usefulness" and "usability" perceptions. To promote the adoption of a VLA, and therefore its acceptability in the daily teaching activities, it's crucial that its handling and its added value were associated with its use are fully perceived. In a second step, it seems necessary to take into account, the social network of the user, what we call in our model "social pressure", students and staff of school life being particularly responsive to it. In a third step, we observe that tool properties can generate what we designate by "instrumental pressure" which retroactively impact on previous variables. Due to repeated use, addiction to ENT may be installed when it becomes essential for the quality of his professional or learning activity, which is notably the case for two functionalities: text-book and information space. Nevertheless, our model shows that other factors can be able to explain uses; therefore, new research prospects can be expected. Finally, it seems clear, on the basis of our various surveys, that the main beneficiaries of VLE are mainly parents and students. But if both show strong interest for its use, they are confronted to the resistance of some teachers denouncing an overwork and an excessive transparency of uploaded information

Garland, Sarah. « An explorative study of the perceptions of social workers who are exposed to work-related, secondary traumatic experiences through their clientele, of the psychosocial support Equine Assisted Therapy (E.A.T) could provide ». Master's thesis, University of Cape Town, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/11427/3832.
Texte intégralIncludes bibliographical references.
This study emanates from the fact that trauma is an increasing reality in our society and it has a particular focus on social workers who work with clientele that have been exposed to and who have suffered trauma. As a result and by using clinical judgment of social workers working in such environments, the social workers may have developed Secondary Traumatic Stress (S.T.S.) symptoms. Psychosocial support functions as a preventative and supportive tool for social workers and emotion-focussed programmes have beneficial effects on the psychosocial wellbeing of social workers by reducing their distress. This study will be exploring a psychosocial intervention called Equine Assisted Therapy (E.A.T.), which makes use of horses in a therapeutic model and enables clients to interact with horses on an emotional and metaphorical level that empowers clients to experience emotional and behavioural change and growth. The significance of this study is to enable the researcher to explore E.A.T. as a possible psychosocial intervention that can provide support for social workers and health care professionals alike who work in environments where they are exposed to high levels of trauma. The researcher made use of a qualitative paradigm that was explorative in nature to gain perspective of the chosen topic. The population for the study comprised of 16 social workers that work in the family violence, child welfare and sexual assault field and who attended a once-off Equine Assisted Therapy (E.A.T.) session to expose them to the therapy model being explored. The participants then volunteered for a semi-structured interview with the researcher which was digitally recorded, thereby allowing the researcher to collect the data and then analyse the data.

Texte intégralThe theoretical and practical activity of Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A. T.) raises a number of aesthetic problems - those posed by an organization whose aim was to facilitate and encourage collaboration between artists and engineers, both inside and outside the art world. This thesis investigates the eruption of environmental issues in art and the use made by E.A.T.'s main actors of the ambiguous concept of the environment, a concept which includes not only what surrounds us but also that which can have an influence on us. By juxtaposing and comparing what John Cage, Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Whitman had to say about their practice with key works on the infiltration of technology into our lives, we will identify an environmental approach that is part of an “explicitation” of the contemporary environment by and through art. These artists strive to highlight, through their work, the aesthetic qualities of a natural and artificial environment, the consequences of which cannot leave us untouched or indifferent. The focus on perception in the experience of this environment reflects a common interest in a 'phenomenal physics' which, even if related scientific concerns, also differs significantly from them. It is not only a question of the transformation of this pervasive environment into a perceived space but also a matter of investigating the place and role of the artist in the shaping of the human environment. Thus we see in E.A.T.'s program an activity a form of action-research focused on the individual, which envisages also the possibility not only of living in but of existing with one's environment
