Résumé :
This article addresses the question “How is dynamic narrative inquiry dynamic?” To do that, I present principles of dynamic narrative inquiry, with a focus on the active authoring of meaning in research interactions as in everyday life. Drawing on prior examples of activity-meaning system research designs and dynamic narrative analyses, I illustrate how this authoring process involves creative use of language and literary forms to express and transform interactive meaning with diverse others and one’s self. A goal of the article is to increase researchers’ sensitivity to the fact that paying attention to how everyone communicates offers major and otherwise overlooked insights into what everyone is saying about the issue of interest.

Résumé :
This article examines the conceptual relationship between the notion of dynamics in music and the idea of dynamics as “power” and “potentiality” in metaphysics. What is implicit in both notions is the idea of “force”, as configured in a philosophical tradition from Aristotle to Nietzsche, Heidegger and Deleuze. It is no coincidence that the system of signs that, in music, indicates the intensity of sound, its strength and its expression, takes its name from this philosophical concept. What follows tries to understand in which sense the term dynamics, as a theory of force and potentiality, steps into the field of music. The Aristotelian concept of dynamis, Leibniz’s theory of vis activa and the Nietzschean “Will to Power” reveal their profound meaning when related to the specific dynamic ontology realized by music. Two contemporary musical examples, taken from flute works by Sciarrino and Hosokawa, show with particular evidence how to understand a metaphysical idea of musical dynamics.

Résumé :
Innovations are significant source of competitive advantage for firms. They are also a major source of dynamics that forces firms to adapt their capabilities to sustain competitiveness. In this study we analyzed how firms manage their technological portfolio in mobile phone industry. Our first finding is that firms have focused differently their technology portfolios. Then we identified that most firms change their technology portfolio over time. And finally we conclude that firms in mobile phone industry have different levels of dynamics where some firms change their technology portfolio faster than others. This research identifies new challenges in dynamic capabilities research related to the appropriate level of dynamics in technology management. This information is crucial in practice in order to correctly manage the firm’s dynamic processes.

Résumé :
The present paper discusses the importance of economic externality and the economic phenomena involved. Section 1 draws on the framework of weak force theory in physics, we propose a new approach of dynamic analysis for economic externality. From a mesoscopic (intermediate scale) perspective, no distinction is made between the macro-demand and individual micro-buyers nor between the macro-supply and individual micro-sellers. Section 2 applies the isospin modeling method to construct two economic isospin models. One is between the achieving impulse and the fear-of-failure impulse, under the effect of economic externality. The other is between the market behavior and market residues, namely, market aftertaste. Section 3 discusses the microstructural properties of the market, including Dirac's equation and the market, Dirac γmatrix notation, and the chirality and spin structure of market components. Section 4 discusses the helical structural characteristics of supply chains, including CPT theorems, Penrose zigzag helical processes, and several modeling directions of economic externality and buyer-seller interactions (weak interactions). Section 5 discusses the economic externality and the electroweak model, including extensive externality, externality mediations with Weinberg rotations, and economic analysis using lepton weak currents, including the analysis of lepton neutral weak currents. Finally, Section 6 provides a general discussion on the standard model of economic dynamics.

Résumé :
A decline of macromycetes, especially of ectomycorrhizal species, has been described in the last decade in various parts of Europe. These changes are attributed to direct or indirect effects of air pollution. In Central Europe these changes correlate with visual damage of forest. Many ectomycorrhizal fungi seem to be very suitable bioindicators of the disturbance of forest ectotrophic stability. Stages of this disturbance can be linked directly to particular phases of impoverishment of ectomycorrhizal mycocoenoses. These conclusions have been obtained from long-term research on permanent plots (1,000–2,500 m2) in spruce and oak forests in the Czech Republic, but it seems that they are valid generally. For the quantification and study of mycorrhizal activity a special method has been developed and applied. The analyses of mycorrhizas from the same plots in the period 2000–2002 indicate large mycorrhizal dynamics. These data correlate with data obtained from a fruiting bodies survey. Both the percentage of ectomycorrhizal species and the ratio of active mycorrhizas are highly sensitive to outer impacts (air pollution, acidification, fertilization). Their decrease is in correlation with the strong defoliation of trees and can be used for the prediction of further development in comparable stands.

Résumé :
Equations and methods of classical mechanics are used to describe the dynamics of technical systems containing elements of various physical nature, planning and management tasks of production and economic objects. The direct use of known dynamics equations with indefinite multipliers leads to an increase in deviations from the constraint equations in the numerical solution. Common methods of constraint stabilization, known from publications, are not always effective. In the general formulation, the problem of constraint stabilization was considered as an inverse problem of dynamics and it requires the determination of Lagrange multipliers or control actions, in which holonomic and differential constraints are partial integrals of the equations of the dynamics of a closed system. The conditions of stability of the integral manifold determined by the constraint equations and stabilization of the constraint in the numerical solution of the dynamic equations were formulated.

Résumé :
Previous attempts to use inverse dynamics solutions in direct dynamics simulations have failed to replicate the input data of the inverse dynamics problem. Measurement and derivative estimation error, different inverse dynamics and direct dynamics models, and numerical integration error have all been suggested as possible causes of inverse dynamics simulation failure. However, using a biomechanical model of the type typically used in gait analysis applications for inverse dynamics calculations of joint moments, we produce a direct dynamics simulation that exactly matches the measured movement pattern used as input to the inverse dynamic problem. This example of successful inverse dynamics simulation demonstrates that although different inverse dynamics and direct dynamics models may lead to inverse dynamics simulation failure, measurement and derivative estimation error do not. In addition, inverse dynamics simulation failure due to numerical integration errors can be avoided. Further, we demonstrate that insufficient control signal dimensionality (i.e., freedom of the control signals to take on different “shapes”), a previously unrecognized cause of inverse dynamics simulation failure, will cause inverse dynamics simulation failure even with a perfect model and perfect data, regardless of sampling frequency.

Résumé :
Mitochondria are involved in the regulation of cellular energy metabolism, calcium homeostasis, and apoptosis. For mitochondrial quality control, dynamic processes, such as mitochondrial fission and fusion, are necessary to maintain shape and function. Disturbances of mitochondrial dynamics lead to dysfunctional mitochondria, which contribute to the development and progression of numerous diseases, including Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). Compelling evidence has been put forward that mitochondrial dynamics play a significant role in the metabolism-secretion coupling of pancreatic β cells. The disruption of mitochondrial dynamics is linked to defects in energy production and increased apoptosis, ultimately impairing insulin secretion and β cell death. This review provides an overview of molecular mechanisms controlling mitochondrial dynamics, their dysfunction in pancreatic β cells, and pharmaceutical agents targeting mitochondrial dynamic proteins, such as mitochondrial division inhibitor-1 (mdivi-1), dynasore, P110, and 15-oxospiramilactone (S3).

Résumé :
Identifying communities in dynamic networks is essential for exploring the latent network structures, understanding network functions, predicting network evolution, and discovering abnormal network events. Many dynamic community detection methods have been proposed from different viewpoints. However, identifying the community structure in dynamic networks is very challenging due to the difficulty of parameter tuning, high time complexity and detection accuracy decreasing as time slices increase. In this paper, we present a dynamic community detection framework based on information dynamics and develop a dynamic community detection algorithm called DCDID (dynamic community detection based on information dynamics), which uses a batch processing technique to incrementally uncover communities in dynamic networks. DCDID employs the information dynamics model to simulate the exchange of information among nodes and aims to improve the efficiency of community detection by filtering out the unchanged subgraph. To illustrate the effectiveness of DCDID, we extensively test it on synthetic and real-world dynamic networks, and the results demonstrate that the DCDID algorithm is superior to the representative methods in relation to the quality of dynamic community detection.

Résumé :
This article addresses the problem of balancing an inverted spherical pendulum on a quadrotor. The full dynamic model is obtained via the Euler-Lagrange formalism, where the dynamics of the pendulum is coupled to the dynamics of the quadrotor, taking as control inputs the torques associated with the yaw, roll, and pitch dynamics, and a control input for the vertical displacement in height. A trajectory tracking control scheme is proposed by means of an active disturbance rejection control based on a discontinuous extended state observer (ADRC-DESO) that allows controlling the system in the translational dynamics of the quadrotor including the rotational dynamics and the inverted pendulum dynamics. To address this problem, the dynamic model is linearized around an equilibrium point, taking into consideration that the system operates in close vicinity of the equilibrium points, thus considerably simplifying the dynamic model. Proving that the linear model is controllable and therefore differentiable flat, flat outputs are proposed around the displacements associated with the three cartesian axes of the Euclidean space, including a dynamic associated with the yaw dynamics of the quadrotor allowing to parameterize the full linear system. Simulation results as well as a convergence analysis validate the performance of the strategy.

Résumé :
A locomotive is usually powered by the electromagnetic torque which is transmitted from the traction motor to the wheelset by gear transmission. In order to investigate the dynamic coupling effects from the gear transmission subsystems on the entire locomotive dynamics system, a comprehensive spatial locomotive dynamics model that considers the dynamic coupling effect of the gear transmissions is developed based on the multibody dynamics theory. In this model, the moved Marker technique is employed to calculate the dynamic mesh force of the gear pairs through which more accurate time-varying gear mesh stiffness excitations could be imported, which is the core of this dynamic model. Then, the established locomotive dynamics model is validated by comparing with the experimental test results. Finally, the dynamic effects of the gear transmissions are revealed by comparing with the results from the traditional locomotive dynamics model without considering the dynamic excitations from the gear transmissions. The results indicate that the gear transmissions have negligible effects on the vibrations of the carbody and the bogie frame, and on the lateral vibrations of the motor and the wheelset. However, the gear transmissions have significant effects on the vertical and, in particular, the longitudinal vibrations of the motor and the wheelset. Thus, it is suggested that the dynamic effects of the gear transmissions are considered in the locomotive dynamics modeling, especially when the vibrations of the motors and the wheelsets are taken into account.

Résumé :
In this paper, we investigate a design method for a cable-driven snake arm maintainer (SAM) and its dynamics modelling. A SAM can provide redundant degrees of freedom and high structural stiffness, as well as high load capacity and a simplified structure ideal for various narrow and extreme working environments, such as nuclear power plants. However, their serial-parallel configuration and cable drive system make the dynamics of a SAM strongly coupled, which is not conducive to accurate control. In this paper, we propose an equivalent dynamics modelling method for the strongly coupled dynamic characteristics of each joint cable. The cable traction dynamics are forcibly decoupled using force analysis and joint torque equivalent transformation. Then, the forcibly equivalent dynamic model is obtained based on traditional series robot dynamic modelling methods (Lagrangian method, etc.). To verify the correctness of the equivalent dynamics, a simple model-based controller is established. In addition, a SAM prototype is produced to collect joint angles and cable forces at different trajectories. Finally, the results of the equivalent dynamics control simulation and the prototype tests demonstrate the validity of the SAM structural design and the equivalent dynamics model.

Résumé :
A novel cascade visual control scheme is proposed to tailor for electrically driven robotic manipulators that operate under kinematic and dynamic uncertainties, utilizing an uncalibrated stationary camera. The proposed control approach incorporates adaptive weight radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) to learn the behaviors of the uncertain dynamics of the robot and the joint actuators. The controllers are designed to nullify the approximation error and mitigate unknown disturbances through an integrated robust adaptive mechanism. A major advantage of the proposed approach is that prior knowledge of the dynamics of the robotic manipulator and its actuator is no longer required. The controller autonomously assimilates the robot and actuator dynamics online, thereby obviating the need for fussy regression matrix derivation and advance dynamic measurement to establish the adaptive dynamic parameter update algorithm. The proposed scheme ensures closed-loop system stability, bounded system states, and the convergence of tracking errors to zero. Simulation results, employing a PUMA manipulator as a testbed, substantiate the viability of the proposed control policy.

Résumé :
The 3-D multi-body contact dynamics simulation model was built by ADAMS base on the Hertz contact theory and multi-body contact dynamics, which considered the dynamics relationship among the ball, ring and cage of the bearing. Considering the clearancesfrictions and loads, results that contained deformation and displacement of the bearing, trajectory of the CM of the cage and the dynamic contact force were obtained by means of the 3-D multi-body contact dynamics model simulation and statics calculation. The outcomes got from two different methods are consistent, so the 3-D multi-body contact dynamics simulation model has the positive significance on dynamic design and engineering application of the bearing.

As space robots gain more and more importance in space operations, it was becoming imperative to understand their distinctive dynamics. The dynamics model of the space flexible robots is very complex, and the differential equation derived from dynamics was solved difficultly and slowly. In this paper the efficient recursive O(n) dynamics algorithm of space flexible robots systems with rigid base and flexible manipulators was discussed, and the fast efficient integration method was used to solve this dynamics equation for real time simulation. Simulations results show that the dynamic modeling and fast efficient numerical integration techniques of flexible space robot proposed in this paper are very useful. Résumé :
In this study, dynamic response analysis of a heave compensation system for offshore drilling operations was conducted based on multibody dynamics. The efficiency of the heave compensation system was computed using simulation techniques and virtually confirmed before being applied to drilling operations. The heave compensation system was installed on a semi-submersible and comprises several interconnected bodies with various joints. Therefore, a dynamics kernel based on multibody dynamics was developed to perform dynamic response analysis. The recursive Newton–Euler formulation was adopted to construct the equations of motion for the multibody system. Functions of the developed dynamics kernel were verified by comparing them with those from other studies. Hydrostatic force, linearized hydrodynamic force, and pneumatic and hydraulic control forces were considered the external forces acting on the platform of the semi-submersible rig and the heave compensation system. The dynamic simulation was performed for the heave compensation system of the semi-submersible rig for drilling operations up to 3600 m water depth. From the results of the simulation, the efficiency of the heave compensation system was evaluated to be approximately 96.7%.

Résumé :
Due to the nature of real-world problems in civil engineering, students have had limited hands-on experiences in structural dynamics classes. To address this challenge, this paper aims to bring real-world problems in structural dynamics into classrooms through a new interactive learning tool that promotes physical interaction among students and enhances their engagement in classrooms. The main contribution is to develop and test a new interactive computing system that simulates structural dynamics by integrating a dynamic model of a structure with multimodal sensory data obtained from mobile devices. This framework involves integrating multiple physical components, estimating students’ motions, applying these motions as inputs to a structural model for structural dynamics, and providing students with an interactive response to observe how a given structure behaves. The mobile devices will capture dynamic movements of the students in real-time and take them as inputs to the dynamic model of the structure, which will virtually simulate structural dynamics affected by moving players. Each component of synchronizing the dynamic analysis with motion sensing is tested through case studies. The experimental results promise the potential to enable complex theoretical knowledge in structural dynamics to be more approachable, leading to more in-depth learning and memorable educational experiences in classrooms.

Résumé :
Microtubules are key players in cellular self-organization, acting as structural scaffolds, cellular highways, force generators and signalling platforms. Microtubules are polar filaments that undergo dynamic instability, i.e. transition between phases of growth and shrinkage. This allows microtubules to explore the inner space of the cell, generate pushing and pulling forces and remodel themselves into arrays with different geometry and function such as the mitotic spindle. To do this, eukaryotic cells employ an arsenal of regulatory proteins to control microtubule dynamics spatially and temporally. Plants and microorganisms have developed secondary metabolites that perturb microtubule dynamics, many of which are in active use as cancer chemotherapeutics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Here, we summarize the methods used to visualize microtubules and to measure the parameters of dynamic instability to study both microtubule regulatory proteins and the action of small molecules interfering with microtubule assembly and/or disassembly.

Résumé :
The notion of international relationships is supplemented by other phenomena during the last time. One of them is globalisation, called on by technological, social and cultural changes, which have shortened the economic distance among countries. The improvement of transport and communication technologies has decreased transport costs of goods, people and information. Traditional governmental policies limiting the cross-border transactions were liberalised or removed what in consequence brought about the growth of international trade and foreign direct investments (FDI). Globalisation changes the properties of the world economy and influences the core of the successful economic approaches to development, what increases the need to secure the sustainability of economic development.
