ResumoEste artigo apresenta os resultados de uma investigação voltada para o papel da congruência semântica na elaboração de problemas aditivos por alunos, à luz das ideias de Raymond Duval, relacionadas ao desenvolvimento do pensamento algébrico. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir da aplicação de um instrumento de coleta de dados a noventa e quatro alunos do sétimo, oitavo e nono anos de escolas públicas, com o objetivo de analisar a manifestação do fenômeno da congruência semântica na atividade de elaboração de problemas. Neste artigo, apresentamos uma análise das respostas dos alunos para uma questão que solicita a elaboração de problemas. Os problemas elaborados pelos alunos apresentam a estrutura do campo conceitual de problemas aditivos de Gérard Vergnaud. Os resultados encontrados evidenciaram que a essa proposta, além de apresentar contribuições para o desenvolvimento do pensamento algébrico, enfrenta o fenômeno da congruência semântica, que não pode ser ignorado. Para elaborar problemas, conforme a proposta de Duval, é preciso levar em consideração o fenômeno da congruência semântica, que se reflete diretamente na designação das relações algébricas oriundas dos encaminhamentos das soluções dos problemas.Palavras-chave: Pensamento algébrico, Álgebra, Ideias de Duval.AbstractThis article presents the results of an investigation focused on the role of semantic congruence in students' elaboration of addictive problems, in the light of Raymond Duval’s ideas, related to the development of algebraic thinking. The research was carried out from the application of a data collection instrument to ninety-four students from the seventh, eighth, and ninth grades of public schools, aiming to analyze the manifestation of the phenomenon of semantic congruence in the activity of elaboration problems. In this article, we present an analysis of the students' answers to a question that requests the elaboration of problems. The problems that the students elaborate present the structure of Gérard Vergnaud’s conceptual field of additive problems. The results showed that this proposal, besides contributing to the development of algebraic thinking, faces the phenomenon of semantic congruence, which cannot be ignored. To elaborate problems, according to Duval’s proposal, it is necessary to consider the phenomenon of semantic congruence, which is directly reflected in the designation of algebraic relations arising from the forwarding of solutions to problems.Keywords: Algebraic thinking; Algebra, Duval’s ideas.ResumenEste artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación centrada en el papel de la congruencia semántica en la elaboración de problemas adictivos por parte de los estudiantes, a la luz de las ideas de Raymond Duval, relacionadas con el desarrollo del pensamiento algebraico. La investigación se llevó a cabo a partir de la aplicación de un instrumento de recolección de datos a noventa y cuatro estudiantes de los grados séptimo, octavo y noveno de escuelas públicas, con el objetivo de analizar la manifestación del fenómeno de la congruencia semántica en la actividad de elaborar problemas. En este artículo presentamos un análisis de las respuestas de los estudiantes a una pregunta que solicita dicha elaboración. Los problemas que los alumnos engendran presentan la estructura del campo conceptual de problemas aditivos de Gérard Vergnaud. Los resultados mostraron que esta propuesta, además de contribuir al desarrollo del pensamiento algebraico, enfrenta el fenómeno de la congruencia semántica, que no puede ser ignorado. Para elaborar problemas, de acuerdo con la propuesta de Duval, es necesario considerar el fenómeno de la congruencia semántica, que se refleja directamente en la designación de relaciones algebraicas que surgen del avance de soluciones a problemas.Palabras clave: Pensamiento algebraico, Álgebra, Ideas de Duval.

A morphologically distinguished and isolated cavernicolous trechine beetle belonging to the isotopic Duvalius lineage was discovered in Dinarids, Western Bosnia, in hypogean environment, in the cave Mračna Pećina. Duvalius (Neoduvalius) lohaji n. sp., is described, illustrated and compared with the other Duvalius species of the Dinaric range, especially with Neoduvalius taxa. In addition, taxonomical considerations about Duvalius-related genera that exhibit aphaenopsian morphology are given.

Auf basenreichen Sanden des nördlichen Oberrhein-, mittleren Main- und böhmischen Elbetales wachsende, blaugrün bereifte tetraploide Schwingel, die bisher meist als Festuca duvalii angesprochen wurden, werden als F. tomanii neu beschrieben. von F. duvalii unterscheidet sich F. tomanii durch (1) pergamentartige Scheiden der Grundblätter, von denen die Spreiten frühzeitig abfallen (F. duvalii: Scheiden der Grundblätter nicht pergamentartig, Spreiten lange erhalten bleibend), (2) dickere Blätter (0,8–1,1 mm vs. 0,6–0,9 mm) mit mehr Leitbündeln (9–11 vs. 7) sowie (3) durch einen ± geschlossenen Sklerenchymring (F. duvalii: Sklerenchym überwiegend in drei Bündeln). Die Bestände von F. tomanii sind stark rückläufig; die meisten Populationen finden sich an Reliktstandorten. F. tomanii ist ein typischer Bestandteil des Jurineo cyanoidis-Koelerietum glaucae (Koelerion glaucae).

OBJETIVO: La investigación consiste en determinar la intervención preventivo promocional de enfermería relacionado con las crisis normativas de la familia en las etapas del ciclo vital de Duvall C.S. San Francisco 2015. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: es un tipo de investigación cuantitativa, descriptiva, retrospectiva y prospectiva. Se trabaja con una muestra de 99 familias del PROFAM del C.S. San Francisco entre los meses de septiembre a diciembre, utilizando un muestreo probabilístico por conveniencia la técnica es la encuesta y el método la entrevista. RESULTADOS: familia nuclear con un 53,5%, con alto riesgo con un 39,4%, con función moderada con un 69,7%, atendido por personal de enfermería con un 62,6%, en la etapa del ciclo Duval de formación de pareja no contesta si decide acerca de la cercanía física en ellos. Por ejemplo, a las relaciones sexuales prematrimoniales con un 91,9%, que si presentan crisis normativas en la familia en las etapas del ciclo vital de la familia: en una crianza inicial de los hijos y si hubo intervención preventivo promocional en un 52,7%, Como plataforma de lanzamiento 44,4%. En la etapa del ciclo vital de duvall: etapa post parental no contesta con un 97% frente al enfrentamiento a las múltiples perdidas: juventud, salud, vitalidad, trabajo, etc. Enfrentamiento de la soledad y muerte de la pareja, así como la consejería. Conclusión: La intervención preventiva promocional de enfermería se relaciona con las crisis normativas de la familia en las etapas del ciclo vital de Duvall.

The morphological and ultrastructural descriptions of the larvae of two cave species of Trechini—Duvalius (Hungarotrechus) subterraneus (L. Miller, 1868) and Duvalius (Biharotrechus) paroecus (J. Frivaldszkyi, 1865)—are presented in this paper. The interest in studying these larvae lays in their rarity and the limited distribution of the Duvalius species. The larvae were collected from caves in the Romanian Carpathians and were examined under a stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscopy. New important taxonomical and fine morphological characteristics are discussed together with conclusions on the larvae microhabitat as part of the measures to be taken by a proper management of caves.

Duvalius (Duvalius) lencinai Mateu & Ortuño, 2006 (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechini) a hypogean species from the south of the Iberian peninsula. Morphology, new taxonomic placement, systematics and biology Duvalius (Duvalius) lencinai Mateu & Ortuño, 2006 was discovered in two new localities in the municipal district of Siles (Jaen, Spain): Sima Curva del Espino and Sima de los 30 Años, approximately 10 and 17 km, respectively, away from the type locality. The study of several individuals through dissection and use of optic and electronic microscopic preparations has increased the knowledge of the anatomy of this species. Evagination of the internal sac allowed further study of the sclerotized structures and led to the proposal of a new placement for this species within the genus Trechus Clairville 1806: Trechus (Trechus) lencinai (Mateu & Ortuño, 2006) n. comb. Although it comprises characters of the T. fulvus group and the T. pyrenaeus group, the endophallus is more similar to several species of the T. quadristriatus group and the T. tingitanus group. It could not therefore be placed in any of the species groups proposed by Jeannel. Some data about its biology (temporal and spatial distribution) and accompanying arthropod fauna are given.

Euphorbia duvalii Lecoq & Lamotte is an endemic species from the Catalan-Occitan territory -western Mediterranean area- and is usually found in the south of France. Euphorbia duvalii has been cited from some localities of the Iberian Peninsula, but in later reviews all of these citations were finally identified as other species of Euphorbia L. One of these citations, from the Alt Empordà -Girona, Spain-, was of specific interest because not all the sources agreed on what the species was. To clarify whether or not this species is really present in the Iberian Peninsula, we examined new material from this population in order to establish whether the species is in fact E. duvalii. Once the morphology of the specimens from the Serra de Bac Grillera population had been analysed, we were able to confirm that they were indeed E. duvalii. This means that this is the only area on the Iberian Peninsula where this endemic species has been identified. The population is located in a rocky meadow that contains some scrub and is surrounded by pinewoods. Because this is the one and only Iberian population, a management and conservation plan needs to be drawn up to ensure its preservation.

Duvalius semecensis tarensisssp. nov. from two subterranean sites situated on Mt. Tara (western Serbia) is described, illustrated and compared with its most related congeners. It is provisionally placed in the subgenus Biharotrechus Bokor, 1922. The new subspecies is characterized by a depigmented, medium-sized body, the presence of reduced eyes, deep and complete frontal furrows, two pairs of discal setae in third elytral striae, as well as by the shape of aedeagus. It inhabits caves on Mt. Tara and is endemic of this mountain. Data on the distribution and bionomy of the new subspecies are given. Its closest relative, Duvalius (Biharotrechus) semecensis semecensis Winkler, 1926, is redescribed and we designated its holotype by monotypy. A key for the identification and an annotated catalogue of Serbian Biharotrechus and Duvalius s. str. taxa are also provided.

Dieci nuovi taxa del genere <em>Duvalius</em> Delarouzée, 1859 sono descritti del Lazio, risultato di oltre trent’anni di ricerche in grotte o nell’ambiente sotterraneo superficiale. Quattro specie appartengono al “gruppo franchettii”, che comprende specie eucavernicole ad elevato livello di specializzazione troglomorfa, caratterizzate da dimensioni medie o grandi, due sole setole discali elitrali, tempie glabre, tegumenti glabri, lamella copulatrice costituita da un solo pezzo, sempre priva di fanero mediano impari.<em> Duvalius auruncus</em> n.sp., nota di una cavità dei Monti Aurunci centrali, è ben riconoscibile per le appendici allungatissime (è la più “afenopsiana” delle specie italiane) e per la lamella copulatrice piuttosto corta e subparallela, con apice poco ristretto ed asimmetrico, accorciato sul lato sinistro. <em>Duvalius ausonicus</em> n.sp., nota di alcune grotte dei Monti Ausoni sud-occidentali e nord-occidentali, è simile a <em>D</em>. <em>lepinensis</em> Cerruti, 1950, ma ben riconoscibile per la lamella ampia alla base, con apice stretto, allungatissimo e ricurvo. <em>Duvalius dattii</em> n.sp. della Grotta di Bellegra (Montagna di Roiate) viene separata da <em>D. franchettii</em> (Luigioni, 1926), dei Monti Simbruini, con cui era finora confusa, per la morfologia dell’edeago e soprattutto della lamella, più breve e massiccia. <em>Duvalius avoni</em> n. sp., di una grotta dei Monti Simbruini, si distingue per il maggior grado di specializzazione, le dimensioni maggiori, e soprattutto per la lamella, più lunga, massiccia, subparallela, con apice evidenziato e rialzato. Tre specie sono da riferire al “<em>gruppo</em> <em>cerrutii</em>”, che comprende specie dell’ambiente sotterraneo superficiale o cavernicole, a medio livello di specializzazione morfologica, caratterizzate da dimensioni generalmente medie o piccole, più di due setole discali elitrali (normalmente da tre a otto), tempie con brevi setole, tegumenti pubescenti, lamella copulatrice spesso con fanero mediano impari basale. <em>Duvalius latellai</em> n.sp., nota solo di una grotta di bassa quota presso San Giovanni Incarico, si distingue per avere due sole setole discali elitrali e la lamella corta, tozza, ad apice arrotondato, priva di fanero impari. <em>Duvalius franziniorum</em> n.sp. è specie endogea e dell’ambiente sotterraneo superficiale (MSS), occasionalmente cavernicola, dei Monti Lepini (Monte Semprevisa, Monte Gemma, Monte Lupone), simile a <em>D. bastianinii</em> Magrini, 1998, ma ben riconoscibile per la lamella più corta, a doccia con apice asimmetrico (accorciato a destra), costituita da due faneri laterali riuniti all’apice, priva di fanero impari. <em>Duvalius nardii</em> n.sp., di grotte con acque sulfuree dei Monti Lepini sud-occidentali (Monte Acquapuzza), si riconosce per la lamella corta, robusta e ben sclerificata, in visione ventrale a forma di doccia con apice asimmetrico (accorciato a destra), costituita da due corti e robusti lobi laterali uniti da una lamina arcuata, priva di fanero impari. Una specie, <em>Duvalius lydiae</em> n.sp., nota di una sola grotta dei Monti Aurunci orientali, apparentemente riconducibile al gruppo cerrutii per il livello medio di specializzazione morfologica, le dimensioni medio-piccole, le due o tre setole discali elitrali, le tempie fortemente setolose, appare però ben caratterizzata da peculiari apomorfie (numerose e lunghe setole foveolate su capo, pronoto ed interstrie elitrali; lobo mediano dell’edeago con una convessità ventrale; lamella copulatrice con torsione della porzione distale sul proprio asse), per cui viene isolata nel nuovo “gruppo <em>lydiae</em>”. Infine, due taxa, <em>Duvalius virginiae</em> <em>marinae</em> n.ssp. e <em>Duvalius brandmayri</em> n. sp. rientrano nel “gruppo <em>straneoi</em>”, che comprende specie a medio livello di specializzazione morfologica, caratterizzate da dimensioni piccole o medio-piccole, con due sole setole discali elitrali, tempie glabre, tegumenti glabri, lamella copulatrice costituita da due faneri laterali simmetrici, saldati insieme alla base, e fornita di un fanero mediano impari. Il primo taxon, di una grotta dei Monti Sabini, va considerato sottospecie distinta di <em>Duvalius virginiae</em> Magrini, Vanni &amp; Cirocchi, 1996, finora nota di due sole cavità dei Monti Martani nell’Umbria meridionale, inclusa nel “sottogruppo <em>cirocchii</em>”. Le due popolazioni, umbra e laziale, differiscono leggermente per la diversa forma del lobo mediano dell’edeago e della lamella copulatrice, con faneri più larghi a livello apicale in <em>virginiae</em>. La seconda specie, endogea e perinivale del Monte Terminillo, è molto simile a <em>D. straneoi</em> Jeannel, 1931 (“sottogruppo <em>straneoi</em>”) del Monte La Pelosa, ma si distingue per la morfologia dell’edeago, con lobo mediano più breve e robusto e lamella più piccola, con doccia più stretta.

Viene descritto <em>Duvalius consortii</em> n. sp. del Monte Martano in Umbria: anoftalmo, con habitus molto specializzato e quindi insolito per un endogeo. In base alla struttura dell’organo genitale maschile la nuova specie risulta non inquadrabile in nessuno dei gruppi di specie già noti (Magrini 1997, 1998). La forma dell’edeago, corto, tozzo e uncinato inferiormente all’apice è ben diversa da quella di tutti i <em>Duvalius</em> noti, mentre la lamella copulatrice si discosta nettamente da quella delle specie dell’Italia centro-meridionale, ricordando solo vagamente la forma di quella di alcuni gruppi alpini,<br />come <em>Duvalius boldorii</em> Jeannel, 1926, ma riteniamo che si tratti sicuramente solo di una convergenza evolutiva. Per questo taxon viene pertanto considerata una nuova linea filetica nella quale istituiamo un “<em>gruppo</em> <em>consortii</em>”.

Four species of genus <em>Duvalius</em> (<em>sensu</em> <em>stricto</em>) are known so far from caves and upper hypogean zone (M.S.S.) in the Taygetos massif (Peloponnese, Southern Greece): <em>Duvalius</em> (<em>Duvalius</em>) <em>taygetanus</em> Casale, 1979, <em>D</em>. (<em>D</em>.) <em>genesti</em> Casale &amp; Vigna Taglianti, 1984, <em>D.</em> (<em>D</em>.) <em>diaphanus</em> (Rottenberg, 1874), and <em>D</em>. (<em>D</em>.) <em>mirei</em> Deuve, 2001. Two of them, <em>D. diaphanus</em> and <em>D. mirei</em>, are large sized, sibling species with reduced but still evident and pigmented eyes, syntopic at high altitude above 2000 m a.s.l.. The male features and characters of the male genitalia of <em>D. mirei</em> are here described for the first time, and compared with those of<em> D. diaphanus</em>. Furthermore, a key for identification of the four sympatric <em>Duvalius</em> species known so far from Taygetos Mt. is provided.

A new species, Duvalius karaormanicus sp. n., in the subgenus Euduvalius, is described from the type locality: Mlečnik cave in the Karaorman Mountain in the south-western part of the Republic of Macedonia. This is the second cave-dwelling Duvalius and the sixth representative of the genus so far recorded from the Republic of Macedonia. Based on its diagnostic characters, the new species is found to be related to the species in the “gogalai” and “petroclzilosi” groups. D. karaormanicus sp. n. occupies an intermediate position between the species from these two groups and is therefore placed in a separate “karaormanicus” species group.

There are two reasons to have an efficient algorithm for identifying all right-maximal Lyndon substrings of a string: firstly, Bannai et al. introduced in 2015 a linear algorithm to compute all runs of a string that relies on knowing all right-maximal Lyndon substrings of the input string, and secondly, Franek et al. showed in 2017 a linear equivalence of sorting suffixes and sorting right-maximal Lyndon substrings of a string, inspired by a novel suffix sorting algorithm of Baier. In 2016, Franek et al. presented a brief overview of algorithms for computing the Lyndon array that encodes the knowledge of right-maximal Lyndon substrings of the input string. Among those presented were two well-known algorithms for computing the Lyndon array: a quadratic in-place algorithm based on the iterated Duval algorithm for Lyndon factorization and a linear algorithmic scheme based on linear suffix sorting, computing the inverse suffix array, and applying to it the next smaller value algorithm. Duval’s algorithm works for strings over any ordered alphabet, while for linear suffix sorting, a constant or an integer alphabet is required. The authors at that time were not aware of Baier’s algorithm. In 2017, our research group proposed a novel algorithm for the Lyndon array. Though the proposed algorithm is linear in the average case and has O(nlog(n)) worst-case complexity, it is interesting as it emulates the fast Fourier algorithm’s recursive approach and introduces τ-reduction, which might be of independent interest. In 2018, we presented a linear algorithm to compute the Lyndon array of a string inspired by Phase I of Baier’s algorithm for suffix sorting. This paper presents the theoretical analysis of these two algorithms and provides empirical comparisons of both of their C++ implementations with respect to the iterated Duval algorithm.

<em>Nesaeoduvalius</em> (new genus) <em>vailatii</em> Casale &amp; Giachino, new species (Coleoptera: Carabidae: Trechini) is described and illustrated from the Euboia (Evvia) island (eastern Greece). The new taxon belongs to the <em>Duvalius</em> “isotopic” trechine lineage, but is markedly characterized by the peculiar combination of several morphological features in the general shape, chaetotaxy of head, serrate lateral margins of elytra, and features of male genitalia (both in median lobe of aedeagus and endophallus). Its putative position amongst the trechines of the <em>Duvalius</em> phyletic lineage is discussed. Data on the distribution and habitat of this new, insular and unexpected taxon are also provided.

Abstract The Duvalier presidencies were a devastating chapter in the history of Haiti. There is, however, one aspect of Haitian society that went through unexpected progress in the midst of these despotic regimes. Haitian Creole has long been excluded from formal and written contexts, despite being the only language common to all Haitians. The debate over whether Creole should be used in formal contexts for the sake of the country’s development and democratization began in earnest at the start of the twentieth century but was far from being resolved when François Duvalier came to power in 1957. Surprisingly, perceptions of Creole changed drastically during the Duvalier era, so that by the time Jean-Claude Duvalier fell from power in 1986 the status of Creole had improved markedly, so much that it had become typical for Haitians to use the language, along with French, in virtually all contexts.

AbstractDrawing on never-before-utilized archival and oral sources, “Making Peasants Chèf” contends that decades of peasant marginalization from political power created the social and political conditions for the rise of the infamous tonton makout militia under the dictator François Duvalier. After coming to power in 1957, Duvalier militarized and rearmed peasants in exchange for their loyalty. Thousands of previously ostracized peasants enlisted in the dreaded makout militia to access status and political power. This explains why the peasant-based militia formed an arm of state repression. With the support of an armed peasantry, Duvalier successfully repressed the political opposition, allowing the regime to stay in power for almost three decades.

Abstract Discussions of the conception of that exemplar of late-nineteenth-century and early-twentieth century urban modernity, the flâneur, have focused on both critique of the figure’s masculinity and more radical and nuanced conceptions of women’s flânerie. This article considers both the re-gendering and ungendering of flânerie in the character of three flâneuses in fiction published in the 1870s, 1880s and 1910s: Madame Sidonie, Henrietta Stackpole, and Elsie Bengough, and related dissonances and synergies in the career and work of London actress and cartoonist Marie Duval, active 1869–1885. It will argue that changes in types of reading supervened upon the boom in the production and distribution of serial publications during this period, resulting in the embodiment of new female professional identities, relative to both changing experiences of urban life and changing experiences of reading. The article makes a distinction between new ideas of these types of urban professional woman and the development of the identity of the New Woman after 1894. It examines the historic comprehensibility of the fictional flâneuses to readers of Zola, James, and Onions, according to the new opportunities and prohibitions that constituted the lived experiences of the developing urban entertainments industry of the period, in Duval’s comic strips and vignettes in the weekly London magazine Judy, or The London Serio-Comic Journal.

This research was conducted to determine the effect of interactive word wall technique on word teaching at the 5th grade level of secondary school. Quasi experimental model was used in the research. The study group of the research consists of 74 students who continue their education in the 5th grade of a public secondary school in Antalya. 5th and 6th themes in the Turkish textbook were chosen for the research. The words in the themes were taught to the experimental group with the interactive word wall technique and activities, and to the control group with the activities in the ongoing education program. The application was carried out for eight weeks, with one course hour per week. It was applied as a pre-test before the Turkish lesson vocabulary test, the post-test after the application, and a retention test one month after the application of the post-test. As a result of the research, no significant difference was found between the pre-test scores obtained from the vocabulary test of the experimental and control groups, while a significant difference was found between the posttest and retention test scores in favor of the experimental group. No significant difference was found between the test results of the students in the experimental and control groups and their gender, maternal education status and father education status. According to the results, it was concluded that the interactive word wall technique was effective in teaching Turkish language lessons at the 5th grade level. Abstract A comparative analysis on the effect of two DGA methods, Duval Pentagon and Duval triangle, in identifying abnormal OLTC was carried out. The corresponding area of Duval Pentagon corresponding to the normal state of OLTC was determined, and Duval Pentagon was used to judge the OLTC of UHV converter transformer. The results show that the Duval Pentagon can identify the normal and abnormal states of on load tap changers. More than 95.5% of the on load tap changers are in the low energy discharge area numbered D1. The identification results of 245 on load tap changer states show that the accuracy of normal state of Duval Pentagon is higher than that of Duval triangle, which can be used as an auxiliary criterion for on load tap changer state diagnosis.

The aim of this article is to provide a critical review of the theories and the model used in the field of geometry education research. The article critically discusses van Hiele’s theory, Fischbein’s theory of figural concepts, Duval’ s theory of figural apprehension, the Spatial Operational Capacity (SOC) model by Wessels and van Niekerk, and the Sfard’s commognition theory. The van Hiele’s theory proposed a sequential order of development through which the learners construct their understanding of geometry concepts. Fischbein’ s theory of figural concepts suggested that a geometric figure is always comprised of a visible representation and a concept. Duval’s theory of figural apprehension underscored the heuristic value of a geometry figure for solving geometry problems. The SOC model by Wessels and van Niekerk emphasised the importance of instructional design incorporating a variety of physical and mental objects to work with to develop geometry concepts. Finally, the article discusses Sfard’s commognition theory that emphasises the communicative function of language in developing geometry concepts. There are two major concerns highlighted with respect to these theories and the model. Firstly, these theories and model emphasise the development of the two-dimensional geometry concepts, neglecting the development of the concepts of three-dimensional geometry. Secondly, these theories and the model fail to acknowledge the multilingual context of geometry class. The article aims to highlight the dearth of studies that explore the multilingual context of geometry class and calls for future studies in this direction.

Foruden bedring af patientflowet bidrog akutmedicineren også til øget psykologisk sikkerhed for de vagthavende yngre læger i akutmodtagelsen. Os conceitos de imperialismo e nacionalismo são problematizados em sua provável aplicabilidade ao processo histórico analisado. Busca-se compreender os efeitos mais profundos da invasão e ocupação dos EUA também em seus desdobramentos institucionais mais duradouros como a extinção do antigo exército nacional fundado em 1804 e sua substituição por uma guarda nacional que ajudará a pavimentar os caminhos para a futura ditadura de François Duvalier. RÉSUMÉ: L'article analyse la période militaire de l'occupation d'Haïti par les troupes américaines de 1915 à 1934 et de son héritage, ainsi que la résistance de tentatives qui ont eu lieu de la part des Haïtiens et de leurs effets sur la société et l'économie à la période avant la dictature de François Duvalier en 1957. Les concepts de l'impérialisme et le nationalisme sont problématisée dans leur applicabilité probable au processus historique analysé. Résumé :
We present two modifications of Duval’s algorithm for computing the Lyndon factorization of a string. One of the algorithms has been designed for strings containing runs of the smallest character. It works best for small alphabets and it is able to skip a significant number of characters of the string. Moreover, it can be engineered to have linear time complexity in the worst case. When there is a run-length encoded string R of length ρ , the other algorithm computes the Lyndon factorization of R in O ( ρ ) time and in constant space. It is shown by experimental results that the new variations are faster than Duval’s original algorithm in many scenarios.

Nella presente nota viene descritto <em>Duvalius irmoi</em> n. sp. dell’Umbria (Grotta Lo Sprofondo, N° 420 U/Pg, Monte Tezio), si tratta di una specie anoftalma e depigmentata che probabilmente abita l’MSS più che le cavità tettoniche di ampie dimensioni della zona. La specie presenta una lamella copulatrice di forma singolare, piccola, con una lamina biforcuta conformata a doccia, sormontata da un fanero mediano impari quadrangolare di grandi dimensioni. La struttura singolare della lamella pone questa specie come capostipite di un nuovo gruppo, che denominiamo “gruppo <em>irmoi</em>” e la sua localizzazione all’interno del Triangolo Etrusco (delimitato dai fiumi Arno, Tevere e costa tirrenica e finora privo di nuovi rappresentanti di questo genere) fa pensare che ulteriori ricerche in quest’area geografica porteranno al reperimento di nuovi taxa similari. Questo nuovo gruppo si pone a metà strada fra il “gruppo <em>vallombrosus</em>”, diffuso più a nord (Toscana-Romagna) e il “gruppo <em>straneoi</em>” diffuso più a sud (Umbria-Lazio-Marche-Abruzzi): la lamina principale dell’endofallo ricorda quella di alcuni Duvalius del “gruppo <em>vallombrosus</em>”, ma è priva del vistoso pacco rotondeggiante di spine presente in questo gruppo (v. iconografia del testo), che è sostituito da un ampio fanero mediano impari, simile a quello di alcune specie del “gruppo <em>straneoi</em>”.

Résumé :
A word v=wu is a (nontrivial) Duval extension of the unbordered word w, if (u is not a prefix of v and) w is an unbordered factor of v of maximum length. After a short survey of the research topic related to Duval extensions, we show that, if wu is a minimal Duval extension, then u is a factor of w. We also show that finite, unbordered factors of Sturmian words are Lyndon words.

Este pequeño trabajo busca explicar la estrecha relación existente entre la naturaleza de los regímenes dictatoriales en las repúblicas insulares del Caribe, específicamente del gobierno de Duvalier I en Haití y la lógica del comportamiento político - diplomático y militar propio de la época, enmarcado dentro de los lineamientos de la Guerra Fría y respaldado por los gobiernos de los Estados Unidos de América. Además, el artículo trata de definir y caracterizar la dictadura personalista de Duvalier I, enfatizando en sus métodos de implementación del terror para mantener el orden interno, evaluando sus programas de desarrollo económico, y las respuestas de fuerza formuladas en contra de la revolución cubana y su grado de influencia en las Antillas y frente a gobiernos democráticos que amenazaban su supervivencia.
