Résumé :
Background: Myocarditis can be classified into 2 categories: fulminant myocarditis (FM) and nonfulminant myocarditis. FM is the most severe type, characterized by its acute and explosive nature, posing a sudden and life-threatening risk with a high fatality rate. Limited research has been conducted on FM characteristics using cluster analysis. This study introduces the following-leading clustering algorithm (`) as a unique method and utilizes it to generate a dual map and timeline view of FM themes, aiming to gain a better understanding of FM. Methods: The metadata were obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) database using an advanced search strategy based on the topic (TS= ((“Fulminant”) AND (“Myocarditis”))). The analysis comprised 3 main components: descriptive analytics, which involved identifying the most influential entities using CJAL scores and analyzing publication trends, author collaborations using the FLCA algorithm, and generating a dual map and timeline view of FM themes using the FLCA algorithm. The visualizations included radar plots divided into 4 quadrants, stacked bar and line charts, network charts, chord diagrams, a dual map overlay, and a timeline view. Results: The findings reveal that the prominent entities in terms of countries, institutes, departments, and authors were the United States, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China), Cardiology, and Enrico Ammirati from Italy. A dual map, based on the research category, was created to analyze the relationship between citing and cited articles. It showed that articles related to cells and clinical medicine/surgery were frequently cited by articles in the fields of general health/public/nursing and clinical medicine/surgery. Additionally, a visual timeline view was presented on Google Maps, showcasing the themes extracted from the top 100 cited articles. These visualizations were successfully and reliably generated using the FLCA algorithm, offering insights from various perspectives. Conclusion: A new FLCA algorithm was utilized to examine bibliometric data from 1989 to 2022, specifically focusing on FM. The results of this analysis can serve as a valuable guide for researchers, offering insights into the thematic trends and characteristics of FM research development. This, in turn, can facilitate and promote future research endeavors in this field.

Résumé :
AbstractPlants can be used to recombinantly produce high-quality biopharmaceuticals, such as therapeutic proteins and vaccines, also known as plant molecular farming (PMF). Recent advances in engineering places PMF amongst the most innovative manufacturing technologies that reduce cost and shorten the production timeline. State-of-the-art PMF uses a dual-approach strategy to optimize the generation of products, namely engineering of expression vectors and production hosts. Here we describe the assembly of genetic circuits, engineered to enable the rapid expression of multimeric proteins in the commonly used expression host Nicotiana benthamiana.

Résumé :
The Greater Angkor Region was the center of the Khmer Empire from the 9th until the 13th to the 14th centuries CE, when it entered a period of decline. Many studies have suggested that the decline of Angkor was precipitated by several factors, including severe monsoons, geopolitical shifts, and invasions. In this paper, we use light detection and ranging and ground penetrating radar to investigate the possible intersection of two of these existential threats in one feature: the North Bank Wall. Our results indicate that this feature was designed with dual functionality of extending the urban area’s defenses to the east of Angkor Thom while maintaining the existing infrastructure for the distribution and disposal of water. These findings suggest that the North Bank Wall was built before the severe droughts in the mid-13th century. The timing of the construction indicates that the perceived need for additional security—whether from internal factional disputes or external adversaries—predated the final adaptations to the hydraulic network during the unprecedented monsoon variability of the 14th century. These results indicate that perceived political unrest may have played a more important role in the decline of the site than previously known.

Résumé :
The paper investigates the problem of the time arrow in terms of artistic creation. The statistical model of artwork signal processing is established in order to identify a duality relation between psychological and intrinsic time. The intrinsic time is linked to the time operator of wavelets, and the psychological one is metaphorically related to the spatial domain of an artwork. The increase of irreducible randomness along the timeline is formulated by the second law of thermodynamics. The dual statement concerns an increase in statistical complexity, which is the definition of self-organization. In that manner, two arrows of time which are opposed and dual to each other are recognized. The authors have indicated a link to the theory of musical forms, the originality issue, and the perspective problem. Some repercussions for art theory, neuroaesthetics, and psychophysics have also been implied.

Résumé :
Abstract Background Dual use of combustible and electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) is a growing use pattern; more than half of e-cigarette users are dual users. However, little is known regarding the course of dual use; for example, the likelihood of discontinuation of either combustible or e-cigarettes or both. Methods Adult daily smokers and dual users (daily smokers who also vaped at least once per week) who did not intend to quit use of either product in the next 30 days participated in a longitudinal, observational study (N = 322, 51.2% women, 62.7% white, mean age = 42.27 [SD = 14.05]). At baseline, participants completed demographics and smoking and vaping history assessments. They also reported daily cigarette and e-cigarette use via timeline follow-back assessment and provided a breath sample for carbon monoxide assay at 4-month intervals for 1 year. Results Of those who completed the year 1 follow-up, 1.9% baseline smokers and 8.0% dual users achieved biochemically confirmed seven-day point-prevalence abstinence from combustible cigarettes (χ2 = 4.57, p = .03). Of initial dual users, by 1 year 43.9% were smoking only, 48.8% continued dual use, 5.9% were vaping only, and 1.4% abstained from both products. Among baseline smokers, 92.3% continued as exclusive smokers. Baseline dual users who continued e-cigarette use were more likely to be white and report higher baseline e-cigarette dependence. Conclusions In this community sample, the majority of dual users transitioned to exclusive smoking. A higher percentage of dual users quit smoking than smokers, but attrition and baseline differences between the groups compromise strong conclusions. Sustained e-cigarette use was related to baseline e-cigarette dependence. Implications This research suggests that dual use of combustible and e-cigarettes is not a sustained pattern for the majority of dual users, but it is more likely to be a continued pattern if the user is more dependent on e-cigarettes. There was evidence that dual users were more likely to quit smoking than exclusive smokers, but this may be due to factors other than their dual use.

Résumé :
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to describe an investment program that offers students with the opportunity to simultaneously manage a private asset fund and a public asset fund. The program has been in operation since 2013 and has made significant progress in student placement and connectivity with local, regional and national financial firms. Design/methodology/approach The authors describe the structure, methods used and challenges encountered in this dual portfolio environment and add relevant thoughts for discussion. The authors discuss potential conflicts of interests that may arise in managing a private equity portfolio, the concern of proper deal flow, the issue of the investment timeline when investing in private equity and the problems encountered when measuring private equity performance. Findings While public asset funds have been around for decades and are relatively well accepted throughout all levels and types of higher education institutions. The uses of private equity funds, though not unheard of, are much less prevalent. Allowing the same group of students to manage both type of portfolios is relatively unique and provides with a more comprehensive learning experience. Originality/value A primary distinguishing attribute of this program is that accepted students are given the opportunity to simultaneously manage both public and private equity assets throughout an academic year. The goal is to create a comprehensive portfolio management program that replicates a changing investment management environment where private equity is an increasingly significant asset class.

Résumé :
Context The tandem gait test is a method for assessing dynamic postural control and part of the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool, versions 3 and 5. However, its reliability among child and adolescent athletes has yet to be established. Objective To examine the test-retest reliability of the single-task and dual-task tandem gait test among healthy child and adolescent athletes. Design Descriptive laboratory study. Setting Sports injury-prevention center. Patients or Other Participants Uninjured and healthy athletes between the ages of 9 and 18 years. Intervention(s) Tandem gait measures repeated 3 times across the period of approximately 1 month. Main Outcome Measure(s) Participants completed the tandem gait test under single-task and dual-task (ie, while simultaneously executing a cognitive task) conditions. Our primary outcome measure was completion time during the single-task and dual-task conditions. We also assessed cognitive accuracy and response rate while participants completed the dual-task tandem gait test. Results Thirty-two child and adolescent athletes completed the study (mean age = 14.3 ± 2.4 years; females = 16). Single-task tandem gait times were similar across the 3 testing sessions (14.4 ± 4.8, 13.5 ± 4.2, and 13.8 ± 4.8 seconds; P = .45). Dual-task tandem gait times steadily improved across the test timeline (18.6 ± 6.9, 16.6 ± 4.5, and 15.8 ± 4.7 seconds; P = .02). Bivariate correlations indicated moderately high to high agreement from test 1 to test 2 (single-task r = .627; dual-task r = 0.655) and from test 2 to test 3 (single-task r = 0.852; dual-task r = 0.775). Both the single-task (intraclass correlation coefficient; ICC [3,1] = 0.86; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.73, 0.93) and dual-task (ICC [3,1] = 0.84; 95% CI = 0.69, 0.92) conditions demonstrated high reliability across testing sessions. Conclusions Tandem gait outcome measures demonstrated high test-retest reliability in both the single- and dual-task conditions. The overall reliability was within the acceptable range for clinical practice, but improvements across tests suggested a moderate practice effect. Tandem gait represents a reliable, dynamic, postural-control test that requires minimal space, cost, and time.

Résumé :
Aims The rate of dislocation when traditional single bearing implants are used in revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been reported to be between 8% and 10%. The use of dual mobility bearings can reduce this risk to between 0.5% and 2%. Dual mobility bearings are more expensive, and it is not clear if the additional clinical benefits constitute value for money for the payers. We aimed to estimate the cost-effectiveness of dual mobility compared with single bearings for patients undergoing revision THA. Methods We developed a Markov model to estimate the expected cost and benefits of dual mobility compared with single bearing implants in patients undergoing revision THA. The rates of revision and further revision were calculated from the National Joint Registry of England and Wales, while rates of transition from one health state to another were estimated from the literature, and the data were stratified by sex and age. Implant and healthcare costs were estimated from local procurement prices and national tariffs. Quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) were calculated using published utility estimates for patients undergoing THA. Results At a minimum five-year follow-up, the use of dual mobility was cost-effective with an estimated incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of between £3,006 and £18,745/QALY for patients aged < 55 years and between 64 and 75 years, respectively. For those aged > 75 years dual mobility was only cost-effective if the timeline was beyond seven years. The use of dual mobility bearings was cost-saving for patients aged < 75 years and cost-effective for those aged > 75 years if the time horizon was beyond ten years. Conclusion The use of dual mobility bearings is cost-effective compared with single bearings in patients undergoing revision THA. The younger the patient is, the more likely it is that a dual mobility bearing can be more cost-effective and even cost-saving. The results are affected by the time horizon and cost of bearings for those aged > 75 years. For patients aged > 75 years, the surgeon must decide whether the use of a dual mobility bearing is a viable economic and clinical option. Cite this article: Bone Joint J 2020;102-B(9):1128–1135.

Résumé :
This work presents an investigation into the use of swarm intelligence techniques for the control of the doubly fed induction generator under unbalanced grid voltages. Swarm intelligence is a concept that was introduced in the late 20th century but has since undergone constant evolution and modifications. Similarly, the doubly fed induction generator has recently come under intense investigation. Owing to the direct grid connection of the DFIG, an unbalanced grid voltage harshly impacts its output power. Established mitigation measures include the use of the dual vector and proportional–resonant control methods. This work investigates the effectiveness of utilizing swarm intelligence for the purpose of controller gain optimization. A comparison of the application of swarm intelligence to the dual vector and proportional–resonant controllers was carried out. Three swarm intelligence techniques from across the timeline were utilized including particle swarm optimization, the bat algorithm, and the gorilla troops optimization algorithm. The system was subject to single-phase voltage dips of 5% and 10%. The results indicate that modern swarm intelligence techniques are effective at optimizing controller gains. This shows that as swarm intelligence techniques evolve, they may be suitable for use in the optimization of controller gains for numerous applications.

Résumé :
The article describes the traditions of magical realism in M. Shishkin's Letter Book and N. Abgaryan's Simon. The research involved comparative, mytho-poetic, hermeneutic, formal, and structural methods. V. I. Tyupa's theory of artistic discourse and F. Schlegel's idea of irony served as the basic theory in identifying the motifs associated with magical realism and generated by the ironic type of artistic completion. The term of magical realism covers works that belong to very different literary movements. The authors used the ironic type of aesthetic completion to explain similar elements in different poetics of magical realism fiction. The traditions of magical realism in the twentieth-century fiction revealed the following features: an ironic type of artistic integrity; dual worlds and miracles; fantasy intertwined with reality; myths, traditions, and legends; archetypes (father, savior, eternal lover, etc.) and symbols (tree, sea, etc.); unmotivated fantasy; fantastical timeline with no clear boundaries between the past and the future; a highly rhythmical pattern, etc.

Résumé :
The current period is the era of Nanoscience (Nanomaterial and Nanotechnology), where revolutions in practically all subjects of Science and Technologies relax life that reflects an extensive investigation area which encompasses Nanodevices, their unique structures, and systems with innovative possessions and novel roles linked to the prearrangement of their atoms or molecules on the 1–100 nm scale. To understand the function and activity of NPs, it is essential to expose how NPs work in almost all fields of Science and Technology, like Engineering, Materials and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science. The activity and action of NPs at the microsize level, including atoms, molecules, tubes or fiber based to inhabit the electronic system, move around in orbit; this orbit may be considered a surface for the electron where the electron interacts as energy to the surrounding molecules and determine the effectiveness of the Nanoparticle. The activity of NPs may be linked with the dual nature of the particle, where size (matter) and energy are effective. The high activity of the small size of the NPs is based on energy which in turn is related to the surface electron as NP showed an increased surface-to-volume ratio that must be intact with outer orbit. This report demonstrates the action of NPs in the advancement and key ethics of Nanoscience and Technology in the contemporary timeline period of findings and indicators related to every field of Science.

Résumé :
In recent years, the use of visual-display terminals (VDTs) such as PCs and cell phones, for work, is proliferating. To perform efficiently, workers must be able to concentrate on and become immersed in their work. Most VDT work is performed while connected to the Internet and unintended distractions such as Internet advertisements (that appear on the display during work) can interfere with concentration. Distracting advertisements are generally considered disturbing and socially problematic. Previous studies have reported that visually disturbing stimuli presented in the peripheral-visual field reduce the ability to concentrate on tasks that are performed using central vision and have suggested that Internet advertisements may adversely affect work efficiency and accuracy. In-feed advertisements that blend into the timeline of articles and SNS, and recommendation-widget advertisements at the bottom of certain articles have been attracting attention recently, and their market is rapidly expanding. These native advertisements deliver value in line with the interests of workers in a natural flow. They promote consumption and fulfil their fundamental role as advertisements. In this context, we plan to investigate appropriate advertisement-presentation conditions, for inclusion in the worker's field of vision, in which the advertisements are recognizable, and worker concentration is unaffected. We aim to consider advertisements that benefit both advertisers and workers. Our objective is to investigate the nature of the interest and emotions generated by the advertisements in the workers. A cognitive memory task will be created, and during its execution the system will place simulated advertisements on the monitor for effect analysis. Task results, subjective evaluation, and eye-gaze information will be used to investigate advertising-element effects (such as color and movement) on worker interest and emotion and the corresponding impact on work concentration. Therefore, this study will provide an in-depth understanding of advertisement impact on worker interests and emotions while examining advertisement presentation conditions that are beneficial to both advertisers and workers. The study will explore the benefits that Internet-advertising optimization can bring to individuals and will contribute to the development of more effective and acceptable advertising strategies.

Résumé :
Abstract Reservoir-H sequence, comprising of three reservoirs (H1, H2 & H3) is one of the most complex reservoirs in Niger-delta. With a combined well-count in excess of sixty producers and injectors and a production history of more than fifty-five years, the reservoir has had a history of challenging simulation studies with average water-cut matches resulting in new wells having high water breakthrough from onset. In the latest effort, an assisted history match using genetic algorithm was employed. This approach is a two-step approach including an identification of all relevant history match parameters for the three reservoirs, followed by a fine-tuning of pressure and saturation history match using genetic algorithm. This approach enabled the identification of aquifer assumptions (architecture and transmissibility) as a critical factor in successfully matching the wells in these reservoirs. In addition to pressure and saturation matches, infill opportunities were further validated by tracking current reservoir fluid contacts with the model. The current model has significantly improved the overall water-cut match in more than ten wells that historically had water-breakthrough challenges while using principally global history-match parameters. The elimination of many local changes in the current model is expected to improve both the reliability and the shelf of the model. Also, the variance between estimated contacts compared to actual gas-oil and oil-water contacts around infill locations is less than five feet indicating good predictability of the model. In order to save development cost, multiple opportunities identified in these reservoirs are to be targeted with dual strings. Additional savings were realized by reducing the overall simulations studies timeline by four months.

Résumé :
Abstract In the world of drilling, the drill bit dull condition contains our best forensic evidence of the drilling assembly's interaction with the formation. Dull grading forensics is the first place to look to identify drilling dysfunction yet commonly overlooked or misunderstood by operators. The drill bit dull condition can be leveraged to learn about the formation, drilling dynamics and drilling practices (Watson et. al. 2022). The IADC bit dull grading classification system received its most recent revision in 1992 and currently consists of an average inner and outer dull grade severity, rated from 0 – 8 with a major and other dull characteristic along with a reason pulled. These grades can be used to make critical operational and bit design decisions to overcome drilling challenges thereby improving performance and allowing drilling teams to drill consistently further and faster. The oil and gas industry is becoming more reliant on digitally enabled applications to improve performance through big data, machine learning and automation, but at the time of this paper, the critical IADC dull grading system has remained the same. It is still a crude and subjective characterization of the complex drill bit dull condition. A key challenge with the current classification system and industry standard grading technique is that it is highly dependent on the person grading the bit. Personal subjectivity and lack of training can result in key forensic evidence being overlooked that otherwise could have aided in understanding the root cause of drilling dysfunction. A cross disciplinary committee of subject matter experts (SME's) from operators, drill bit providers, cutter manufacturers, and digital solution providers have convened to define and introduce a new standard dull grading system as replacement for the current outdated IADC dull grading. The new dull grading system will allow for an objective cutter-by-cutter dull grading to be stored with relevant drilling data with reduced subjectivity and enhanced accuracy. With recent advancements in mobile phone hardware and applications, a solution was developed that delivers high quality, cutter-by-cutter dull grading automatically and connecting with drilling meta data from a drilling records database containing over 1.8 million well records with over 5 million bottom-hole assembly (BHA) runs. It leverages videos with machine learning combined with an algorithm to deliver cutter specific, major dull characteristics of a scanned bit. This high quality photographic digital dull information is incorporated into workflows allowing for rapid improvement in cutting structure and cutter development lifecycle timelines leading to rapid improvements in drilling performance for operators.

Résumé :
Environment protection, like a new religion consists of: environmental programmes, objectives and targets, training, incentive schemes, audit frequency, site inspections, administration and community relations. This paper presents the main environmental performance indicators. They should therefore be cost-effective and appropriate to the size and type of organization and its needs and priorities. Organizations should make the optimum use of the environmental information they collect. To this end the indicators should fulfill the dual purpose of assisting the management of the organization and providing information to stakeholders. In article we present a set of Environmental Performance Indicators (EPI). These indicators should therefore be cost-effective and appropriate to the size and type of organization and its needs and priorities. We present many categories of environmental performance indicators: comparability (indicators should enable a comparison and show changes in the environmental performance); balance between problematic (bad) and prospective (good) areas, continuity (indicators should be based on the same criteria and should be taken over comparable time sections or units); timeliness (indicators should be updated frequently enough to allow action to be taken); clarity (indicators should be clear and understandable).

Résumé :
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Due to the complexity and timeliness of the dual power source control system for range extended electric vehicles, a real-time predictive fuzzy energy management strategy based on speed prediction, which comprehensively takes into account the demand power of auxiliary power unit, future average speed and driving distance is proposed in this work. Firstly, to improve the topicality and accuracy of the control system, the convolutional neural network with long short-term memory neural network (CNN-LSTM) algorithm is adopted to predict the future driving speed by the speed features and adjacent speeds. Secondly, taking account of the characteristics of the driving conditions for electric logistics vehicles, a three-inputs-one-output fuzzy controller is formulated based on the average predicted speeds, current traveling distance and demand power of the auxiliary power unit, so as to adjust the expected output power to harmonize the fuel consumption, electricity costs for the process of battery charging, discharging and degradation. Besides, the comparative tests are carried out to validate the effectiveness of various control strategies for harmonizing fuel consumption and battery degradation. The results under the World Light-duty Vehicle Test Cycle (WLTC) indicate that compared with the fuzzy control strategy which only takes the current vehicle speed as an input variable and the charge-depleting charge-sustaining (CD/CS) strategy, the total operation cost of the proposed strategy is reduced by 3.04% and 34.44%, respectively. Finally, The robustness and effectiveness of the strategy are verified under various driving conditions, and the real-time performance of the strategy is verified by HIL experiment. Hence, the proposed real-time predictive fuzzy energy management strategy gives out the great control effect on economy improvement and suppression of battery decay for electric extended-range vehicles.</div></div>
