Der Beitrag stellt eine kritische Antwort auf Mario Carpos These dar, dieser Wandel bringe Architektur zu einer »autographischen« Praxis zurück, die noch vor die Renaissance zurückreiche. Demgegenüber argumentiert der Beitrag, dass Architektur nach dem Modell von Rosalind Kraus als post-medium art (»postmediale Kunst«) gedacht werden sollte. </br></br>Over the last two decades drawing has been displaced from its dominant role in architecture by a range of computational representations. This article offers a critical response to Mario Carpo's recent argument that this shift returns architecture to an 〉autographic〈 mode of practice not seen since before the Renaissance. In contrast, I suggest that architecture today should be thought of through Rosalind Krauss's model of a post-medium art. "

The emotive power of a memorial derives from its ability to engage the viewer in active remembrance. The project considers the limitations of a monumentality which embraces a distinct division between viewer and memorial. Collapsing the traditionally bifurcated relationship between the viewer and object, the memorial becomes inhabitable- unifying the experience of the viewer with the substance and physicality of the memorial. Once the notion of the archetypal memorial is dissolved, the spatial memorial is then open to interpretation with respect to architectural conditions. The thesis proposes a migratory World War II memorial which inhabits the Pacific Ocean. Bound between the unfathomable sectional depth of the Pacific and the reaches of the sky, the memorial drifts in international waters across the seemingly infinite plane of the ocean. Tracing a peripatetic path across the expanse, the memorial makes manifest the intangible ephemera of memory and silence through the studied manipulation of spatial experience.

This article offers an academic and practical overview for the drafting of international arbitration clauses, from an international Latin American approach and with special emphasis on the energy and construction industries.The authors begin by analyzing the elements of the existence of the arbitral clause and putting forward certain fundamental and general cautionary notes. Then they go on to analyze key elements to include in an arbitral clause, the elements which inclusion is recommended, the elements that might be convenient to include, and others that is best to leave out. The article ends with a conclusion regarding the mindset that parties should have when drafting arbitration clauses.
Este artículo ofrece una revisión de la experiencia académica y práctica para la redacción de cláusulas arbitrales, desde un enfoque internacional latinoamericano, y con especial énfasis en las industrias de la energía y la construcción.Los autores comienzan analizando los elementos de la existencia de la cláusula arbitral y formulando ciertas prevenciones fundamentales y generales. Luego pasan a analizar los elementos clave a incorporar en la cláusula arbitral, ciertos elementos que son recomendables a incorporar, otros tantos que puede ser conveniente incorporar y algunos que es mejor dejar fuera. El artículo finaliza con una conclusión respecto al enfoque que han de tener las partes al redactar la cláusula arbitral.

Intervals between data items propagating in self-timed circuits are controlled by handshake signals rather than by a clock. In many self-timed designs, a trailing data item will catch up with a leading item or token, even when it trails by thousands of gate delays. This effect, called "drafting," can be seen in many of the self-timed designs, e.g., GasP, Mousetrap, Click, and Micropipeline. The purpose of this dissertation is to reveal the circuit mechanism of drafting in self-timed circuits typically used in FIFO stages. Drafting is usually considered to be incidental to the operation of self-timed circuits since interval timing information is irrelevant to preservation of the proper order of data. However, if new applications of self-timed designs require preservation of timing between data items, or if interval data carries information, then the drafting mechanism must be understood to control it. Since drafting is an analog function in a digital circuit the effect may be used as a source of randomness or uniqueness. The drafting effect changes with manufacturing variability and each unit may provide a source for a unique digital signature that can be used in security applications.

Bakgrund: För att lyckas med att genomföra en Ironman krävs att man som utövare har en strategi gällande hur man ska disponera sin energi för att kunna bli en ”finisher”. Detta kallas pacing eller pacing strategi och är den egenstyrda ansträgningen som kan hjälpa utövaren att lyckas med sitt mål och optimera den egna prestationen. Att paca ”rätt” blir därför viktigt för att optimera den egna prestationen då loppet innehåller tre olika moment: simning, cykling och löpning. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka pulsmätning som ett sätt att studera och förstå pacing inom Ironman triathlon. Finns det ett samband mellan utövarens intensitet och cykeltid och har de deltagare som haft en liten pulsvariation en bättre sluttid? Metod: 22 deltagare genomförde ett test för att fastställa sin maxpuls, HRmax. I samband med Ironman Kalmar 2016 registrerades deltagarnas pulsdata med hjälp av pulsmätare och utifrån insamlad pulsdata beräknades deltagarnas intensitet och pulsvariation under cykelmomentet. Dessa värden korrelerades mot deltagarnas cykeltider. Resultat: Den relativa arbetspulsen för studiegruppen var 140 ±9.2 slag/min. Varken intensitet eller variation i intensitet visade något signifikant samband med sluttid även om en trend mot signifikans fanns för intensitet vs cykeltid, p=0.066. Slutsats: Spridningen i gruppen gällande vald intensitet var för stor för att tydligt kunna studera intensitetens betydelse för prestation under cykeldelen i ett IronMan och fler studier är nödvändiga för att kunna kartlägga detta.
Background: In order to succeed in an Ironman it is necessary to have a strategy on how to dispose your energy during the 8-16 hour race. This is called pacing or pacing strategy and is the self-selected effort that can help the competitor to optimize their performance. Based on heart rate measurement, this is particularly interesting during the 180 km cycle section, where drafting is not allowed.Aim: The aim of this investigation was to study pacing in Ironman thriathlon. Is there a relationship between the competitors intensity and biketime and did those who had smaller variation in intensity achieved a better biketime?Method: 22 competitive triathletes undertook a test to find out their HRmax. In conjunction with Ironman Kalmar 2016 the participants HR-data was registered with heartrate monitors and the data was then analyzed in order to determine the participants mean intensity and variation in intensity. These factors were used to understand pacing based on the participants heartrate and correlated to biketimes for each participant. Results: Average intensity for the participants was 140 ±9.2 bpm and the results show no significanct correlation between biketime and either the intensity chosen by the competitor or the variation in intensity. However, there was  a trend towards significance for the intensity vs biketime, p = 0.066. Conclusion: This study was unable to determine the effect of pacing due to the selected intensity within the group was too large to clearly study the importance of intensity for performance during the cycle part of an IronMan and further studies are required.

American football is a well-known sport in America. In addition to the design and rules of the game and the surface it is played on, there are also other differences that are not directly visible. One difference noted in this study is how the teams in the game provide players. Each team has a board of directors together with the team's leadership and they will determine which players are most suitable for the team. These players are recruited to the team after graduating from a U.S. college. This makes it possible to recruit new and young players to the squad. If the team wants other types of new players, there is also an opportunity to replace one or more players. This is seen as a trading, where players are replaced with other players between the two teams. These two opportunities to recruit new players to the team are called drafting, which is a process of recruiting players. This study focuses on the recruitment of players from college. In America, it is a system used to recruit both new and old players to their respective teams in the National Football League, NFL. This study evaluates and analyzes the factors based on how each team in the NFL recruits players from the U.S. college league (NCAA). The factors analyzed were for instance each individual player’s performance during the college league, such as age, passing touchdowns and tackles. By using logistic analysis, these factors could then be determined by analyzing the odds and its change for each player's performance based on their positions in the team. This study shows that in every way a positional player performs during the college league, there will be important factors that contribute to recruitment to the NFL.
Amerikansk fotboll är en välkänd sport i Amerika. Förutom utformningen och reglerna av spelet och underlaget det spelas på, finns även en andra skillnader som inte är direkt synliga. En skillnad som påpekas i denna studie är hur lagen inom sporten skaffar an sig spelare. Varje lag har en styrelse som tillsammans med lagets ledarstab avgör vilka spelare som är mest passande för laget. Dessa spelare rekryteras till laget efter att ha tagit examen från ett amerikanskt college. Det gör de möjligt till att värva in nya och unga spelare till truppen. Om laget vill ha andra typer av nya spelare finns det även en möjlighet att byta ut någon eller några spelare. Detta ses som ett handelssystem, där spelare byts ut mot andra spelare lagen emellan. Dessa två möjligheter till att värva nya spelare till laget kallas för drafting, vilket är en process för att rekrytera spelare. Den här studien fokuserar på rekrytering av spelare från college. I Amerika är det ett system som används till att värva både nya och gamla spelare till respektive lag inom National Football League, NFL. Denna studie utvärderar och analyser de faktorer som grundar sig till hur varje lag inom NFL, rekryterar spelare från den amerikanska college ligan (NCAA). Faktorerna som analyserades var varje individuell spelares prestationer under college ligan. Med hjälp av logistisk analys kunde dessa faktorer sedan bestämmas. Detta gjordes genom att analysera oddset och dess förändring för varje spelares prestationer. Denna studie kom fram till att på varje sätt en positions spelare presterar under college ligan, så finns det viktiga faktorer som bidrar till att dessa spelare rekryteras till NFL.

It is time to recognize that while space may be infinite, Earth orbital space is a finite natural resource that must be managed properly. The problem we face with space pollution is complex and serious. The space treaties and conventions are not sufficient. They were drafted at the time of space exploration in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, they fail to account for rapid changes in the field, especially the increasing commercial activity. Moreover, the existing mitigation guidelines remain voluntary and are not legally binding under international law. As a result, space debris tends to accumulate and remains in orbit for a long period of time. A space debris convention is thus warranted. The proposed international convention would have the following objectives: 1) Implement an international and independent tracking and cataloguing system for space debris; 2) Adopt enforceable space debris mitigation and disposal guidelines; 3) Enforce a space preservation provision for protecting the most vulnerable outer space regions and; 4) Define a space debris compensation and dispute settlement mechanism.
(cont.) The convention must bring all together policy-makers and the civil society for addressing this problem; it is also time for the space industry to play its corporate social responsibility and to actively seek to participate to the drafting and implementing of the convention. More than ever, the space debris problem is hindering space commerce, space tourism, the scientific exploration of space, the use of raw materials from space, and even distant plans for the future settlement of space. The possibility of great harm posed by debris should bring all nations and stakeholders together to find the most appropriate solutions.

The rule of law is a cornerstone of the UK legal order, it states that we are all subject to, and ruled in accordance with, the law. Under Bingham’s analysis, the rule of law is made up of eight separate elements. Element one has four aspects, these are that legislation ought to be accessible, intelligible, clear and predictable. Legislative drafting means turning policy ideas into legislation fit for the statute book – it is literally writing the law. It is best described as phronesis, the subjective application of wisdom The hypothesis of this thesis is that legislative drafting principles can be derived from element one of Bingham’s definition of the rule of law, and that these drafting principles facilitate the drafting of legislation in accordance with the rule of law. The methodology is deductive reasoning, meaning that each aspect of element one is examined, and from each aspect, drafting principles are derived. The principles therefore flow directly from the rule of law. In Chapter 2 the rule of law requirement of accessibility is dissected. Accessibility means that citizens have access to the law. This leads to the conclusions that legislation ought to be drafted so as to be available (citizens can physically read it), navigable (citizens can find their way around it, particularly to the portion which directly affects them) and inclusive (containing all the relevant legal information). In Chapter 3 the rule of law requirement of predictability is analysed. Predictability means that citizens can predict the legal consequences of their actions by reference to the legislation, or in other words, that the law is fixed and certain. Drafting principles are then derived from this. These are that legislation is prospective (it has effect in the future, not the past), that it is determinate (certain, unambiguous and precise), stable (not changing all the time), it must have a clear start and stop date, it must be consistent (within individual statutes and more generally across the statute book), that it must apply in the real world, that it must be capable of being implemented, and that there must be constraints on the discretion given to officials by legislation. Chapter 4 deals with intelligibility – that the law must be capable of being understood by citizens. This means that the drafter must consider the characteristics of the individual who is most likely to be using the legislation, that both amending legislation and the legislation as amended must be comprehensible, that excessive interconnectedness must be avoided, that plain language, easification and good writing techniques must be used and finally that the legislation contain examples where appropriate to aid understanding.

Graphical communication has traditionally been a basic part of the mechanical engineer’s education. The production and reading of drawings have long been considered an attribute of ‘literate’ engineers. Today, that assumption is under attack, as is the very definition of a drafting course. Typical questions include “Why should we teach pencil/paper drawing in an AutoCAD age?” “Why not just teach solids modeling and forget the old-fashioned stuff?” At Mercer University we teach in the sophomore year a single two-semester-hour laboratory course containing three modules: pencil-and-paper drawing, computer-aided drawing, and solids modeling. The course attempts to balance the presentation and mastery of traditional descriptive geometry principles and skills with the need to prepare engineers for practice. The goal in each module is to teach enough skill to provide a base for experience and future learning in both course work and professional practice. The approach in each module is to start with the basic skills of that particular method, and progress to the production of working and assembly drawings. Rationale and learning objectives for the course are presented, as well as representative examples of assignments and projects.

The A/E/C Graphics Standard Release 2.2 has been developed by the Computer-Aided Design/Building Information Modeling Technology Center to document how proper hand-drafting practices can be achieved in advanced modeling. It is through the collection and documentation of these practices that consistent models and drawings shall be achieved throughout the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), as well as other federal agencies. In the collection of these practices, various historical USACE District drafting manuals were consulted and compared against practices contained in industry and national standards, with consideration toward whether software can achieve those practices. The documentation of these practices will help to achieve both clear and aesthetically pleasing construction documents.
