Résumé :
Purpose Recently, the double joint photographic experts group (JPEG) compression detection tasks have been paid much more attention in the field of Web image forensics. Although there are several useful methods proposed for double JPEG compression detection when the quantization matrices are different in the primary and secondary compression processes, it is still a difficult problem when the quantization matrices are the same. Moreover, those methods for the different or the same quantization matrices are implemented in independent ways. The paper aims to build a new unified framework for detecting the doubly JPEG compression. Design/methodology/approach First, the Y channel of JPEG images is cut into 8 × 8 nonoverlapping blocks, and two groups of features that characterize the artifacts caused by doubly JPEG compression with the same and the different quantization matrices are extracted on those blocks. Then, the Riemannian manifold learning is applied for dimensionality reduction while preserving the local intrinsic structure of the features. Finally, a deep stack autoencoder network with seven layers is designed to detect the doubly JPEG compression. Findings Experimental results with different quality factors have shown that the proposed approach performs much better than the state-of-the-art approaches. Practical implications To verify the integrity and authenticity of Web images, the research of double JPEG compression detection is increasingly paid more attentions. Originality/value This paper aims to propose a unified framework to detect the double JPEG compression in the scenario whether the quantization matrix is different or not, which means this approach can be applied in more practical Web forensics tasks.

Résumé :
In this paper, a novel approach is proposed to detect JPEG image forgery based on the inconsistencies of quantization tables. The primary quantization table of tempered image is firstly estimated. Then the blocking artifact measure (BAM) of each 8×8 DCT coefficient block is computed using the estimated quantization matrix, and the BAMs of all blocks are sorted in descending order. Select a certain number of blocks of which the BAM is in the front of the order. Labeling the connected components of blocks in order to eliminate some abnormal blocks and gain the connected doctored blocks. Experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach.

Résumé :
With the wide use of various image altering tools, digital image manipulation becomes very convenient and easy, which makes the detection of image originality and authenticity significant. Among various image tampering detection tools, double JPEG image compression detector, which is not sensitive to specific image tampering operation, has received large attention. In this paper, we propose an improved double JPEG compression detection method based on noise-free DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) coefficients mixture histogram model. Specifically, we first extract the block-wise DCT coefficients histogram and eliminate the quantization noise which introduced by rounding and truncation operations. Then, for each DCT frequency, a posterior probability can be obtained by solving the DCT coefficients mixture histogram with a simplified model. Finally, the probabilities from all the DCT frequencies are accumulated to give the posterior probability of a DCT block being authentic or tampered. Extensive experimental results in both quantitative and qualitative terms prove the superiority of our proposed method when compared with the state-of-the-art methods.

Résumé :
Abstract This paper presents a two-stage watermarking technique for image authentication adapting the advantages of vector quantization (VQ). In the proposed algorithm, robust watermark and semifragile watermark are embedded independently in two successive stages. Robust watermark and VQ enhance the security of the system by providing double protection to the designed system, while semifragile watermark helps in authenticating the received image. Watermarks of varying sizes are embedded in the cover image, and their performance is measured in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), weighted PSNR, and bit error rate. A threshold-based approach is suggested for identification of attacks as acceptable or malicious. The experimental results demonstrate the capabilities of the method in classifying attacks and correctly locating the tampered area. It is possible to detect and determine tampering with very high sensitivity. The present scheme outperforms previous algorithms in terms of imperceptibility, attack classification criteria, robustness feature, and tamper detection feature.

Résumé :
The THz atmospheric limb sounder (TALIS) is a microwave radiometer developed by the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for the detection of atmospheric trace gases. The observation range of the instrument mainly focuses on the middle and upper atmosphere (10–100 km above the earth’s surface). The detection targets include the temperature, pressure, and more than 10 kinds of atmospheric components. Its scientific goal is to improve our comprehension of atmospheric chemical composition and dynamics, and to monitor environmental pollution and sources in the atmosphere. The TALIS instrument is composed of an antenna, superheterodyne radiometers, and digital fast Fourier transform (FFT) spectrometers. By measuring the atmospheric thermal radiance in the wide frequency band with 118, 190, 240, and 643 GHz as the center frequency, the required volume mixing ratio (VMR) of atmospheric chemical species can be obtained. This paper introduces the characteristics of the TALIS instrument, and establishes a simulation model for the TALIS spectrometer. Through a joint simulation with an atmosphere radiative transfer simulator (ARTS), the TALIS instrument performance is evaluated from the aspects of calibration, the imbalance of two sidebands, the spectrum resolution, and quantization. The simulation results show that the two-point calibration can well-restore the radiance spectrum of the scene target and remove the influence of the spectral response function (SRF); the double side band (DSB) receiver with a 2 MHz resolution can meet the sensitivity and spectrum resolution requirements. Finally, the sensitivity errors of different quantization bits are given by the simulation and the results show that at 8-bit, the sensitivity and its degradation ratio are 1.251 K and 1.036 at a 2 MHz spectrum resolution and 100 ms integration time, respectively.

Résumé :
Micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) accelerometers are widely used in the inertial navigation and nanosatellites field. A high-performance digital interface circuit for a high-Q MEMS micro-accelerometer is presented in this work. The mechanical noise of the MEMS accelerometer is decreased by the application of a vacuum-packaged sensitive element. The quantization noise in the baseband of the interface circuit is greatly suppressed by a 4th-order loop shaping. The digital output is attained by the interface circuit based on a low-noise front-end charge-amplifier and a 4th-order Sigma-Delta (ΣΔ) modulator. The stability of high-order ΣΔ was studied by the root locus method. The gain of the integrators was reduced by using the proportional scaling technique. The low-noise front-end detection circuit was proposed with the correlated double sampling (CDS) technique to eliminate the 1/f noise and offset. The digital interface circuit was implemented by 0.35 μm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology. The high-performance digital accelerometer system was implemented by double chip integration and the active interface circuit area was about 3.3 mm × 3.5 mm. The high-Q MEMS accelerometer system consumed 10 mW from a single 5 V supply at a sampling frequency of 250 kHz. The micro-accelerometer system could achieve a third harmonic distortion of −98 dB and an average noise floor in low-frequency range of less than −140 dBV; a resolution of 0.48 μg/Hz1/2 (@300 Hz); a bias stability of 18 μg by the Allen variance program in MATLAB.

Résumé :
In this study, a new strategy for the simultaneous quantization of five serotonin 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor antagonists—ondansetron, azasetron, ramosetron, granisetron, and tropisetron—either in infusion samples or in injection dosage form was first established based on high-performance liquid chromatography combined with a quantitative analysis of multiple components by a single marker. The quantitative analysis of multicomponents by a single marker method was conducted with ondansetron as an internal reference substance and performed using relative retention time and ultraviolet spectral similarity as the double indicator. The quantitative analysis of the 5-HT3 receptor antagonists was calculated and investigated based on the relative correction factors. Chromatographic separation was achieved using a C18 column (150 mm × 4.6 mm, 5.0 μm), and the mobile phase was composed of acetonitrile-0.05 mol·L−1 potassium dihydrogen phosphate (pH 4.0) (25 : 75) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL·min−1 and detection wavelengths of 307 nm (ondansetron, azasetron, ramosetron), 302 nm (granisetron), and 285 nm (tropisetron). In addition, the accuracy of the quantitative analysis of multicomponents by a single marker method was compared with an external standard method, and no significant difference was observed between the two methods. The established method is rapid, is easy, and does not require many reference substances, and it can been successfully applied as part of the quality control of the five 5-HT3 receptor antagonists in their injection dosage form and infusion sample drugs in hospitals.
