Les auteurs ont testé au laboratoire et sur le terrain la technique de double microcentrifugation proposée par Kratzer et Ondiek (1989) pour le diagnostic parasitologique des trypanosomoses. Les limites de détection trouvées ne sont pas aussi basses que celles indiquées par les auteurs initiaux mais montrent néanmoins une meilleure sensibilité que la simple microcentrifugation pour les trois espèces Trypanosoma brucei, T. congolens e et T. vivax. Facile à mettre en oeuvre sur le terrain, cette technique est recommandée, notamment pour des enquêtes épidémiologiques . Un protocole et une liste de matériel nécessaire sont indiqués.

Premièred at the Bridgewater Hall on 23 May, Near Midnight, by the Hallé's new Associate Composer Helen Grime (born 1981) is scored for large orchestra including celeste and five percussionists. The work opened in the lowest registers for harp and double basses, with quiet undulations including trills, and bells. These dark and deep sounds formed the background to a crescendo built out of accumulating upward scales. The opening patterns developed a swirling motion that gave rise, after about two minutes, to vaguely mechanistic ostinato-like figurations underpinned by deep pedals – providing the backdrop to various intermittent solos, including flute.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of school enrollment, distance to audition site, sex of auditionees, and instrument type on the results of the 1992–97 South Dakota all-state band auditions. Results include the following: (1) total audition scores were better for students from larger schools and for those who traveled a shorter distance to the audition; (2) female students' scores were significantly better than those of male students, but there was no significant difference in the percentages of successful auditions between males and females; (3) scores differed significantly between instrument groups, with flutes and double reeds receiving the best scores, followed by saxophones, trumpets and French horns, low brass and string basses, and clarinets; and (4) the variables of distance to audition site, instrument group, and sex accounted for 11% of the variance in total audition scores.

Against the background of comparatively insufficient, expressly dedicated studies on double particle verb person nominalisations, this paper offers a qualitative, cognitive-constructionist approach to the properties of doubler-upper nominalisations of particle verbs in English and a reappraisal of some of the available analyses thereof. On the assumption of the validity of the flexicon stance on the organisation of words in the human mind, and on the basis of a preliminary semantic analysis of 300 types of doubler-upper nouns extracted from two corpora and Urban Dictionary, it is claimed that there are no identifiable constraints on the possibility of double-er marking over any of the positionally specified single markings and no particular properties of particle verbs as bases to preclude double -er marking. A hypothesis is formulated that, despite their deviance, doubler-uppers strike the optimal balance between complexity and unity and appear to be the most natural and morphophonologically best-fitting pattern for particle verb -er nominalisation (at least in spoken discourse and the media).

Résumé :

This study introduced and investigated a modification of the Szasz sequence in double sums with one variable. This sequence's recurrence relation for the m-th order moment, convergence theorem, and Voronovskaya-type asymptotic theorem in ordinary approximation are investigated. A numerical example is also provided to demonstrate the approximation of the chosen test function by this modification sequence, and the numerical results are compared to the numerical results of the classical Szasz sequence. It turns out that the results achieved from the modification sequence are superior to those obtained from the classical sequence.

Résumé :

Relevance of the study. The author’s commentary of Szymon Godziemba-Trytek concerns the role of sacred symbol in his work “Crux Christi Salva Nos” for mixed choir, soloists, horns, double basses and percussion (2017). This study for the first time acquaints the Ukrainian audience with the creativity of a modern Polish composer, who fruitfully works in the field of symphonic, chamber, and especially vocal and choral music. Main Objective of the article is to show the author’s way of interpreting sacred symbols in the composition and drama of his work; to reveal the role of a symbol as a tool for integrating a composition into an intercultural context that arises on the basis of musical and extra-musical listening experience. Methodology/How the study was done. The empirical and analytical methods used in the research reflect the two sides of the author’s activity — he is a composer and a scientist. From the Christian symbol of Caravaca Cross that inspired him — to the compositional idea and its implementation in sounds: these are the stages of the creative process described in the article. Results/Findings and Conclusions. The composition of the work «Crux Christi Salva Nos» was determined by two aspects of the European Christian symbol Caravaca Cross — its graphics and the history of its existence in culture. The external feature of the Caravaca Cross is the mnemonic signs applied to its surface, they fix the sequence of prayer lines. The sequence of the placement of these signs forms the architectonics of Godziemba-Trytek’s musical work. The symmetry in the arrangement of the signs corresponds to the symmetry of the music composition. In the history of the existence of Caravaca Cross in European culture, the composer is most attracted by the emergence of various religious cults associated with it. They origins often are in folklore. Reflections on the process of acceptance of theological ideas among the people led the composer to some decisions in the field of drama, performing resources, stylistics. Specially, composer use the text of the Polish traditional Lent Song as the epilogue of his work. This epilogue becomes the quiet climax of the composition. The choir’s location and the way haw it is used in the work are also symbolic: within each subsequent movement, the choir is situated closer to the listener. Stylistic means reflect the idea of giving the dogmas of faith a human dimension.

Objectifs : Comparer la consommation de substances, les comportements de jeu et les traits de personnalité de deux groupes d’individus ayant un trouble de jeu pathologique (patients jeunes et adultes) ; explorer l’apport du sexe, de l’âge et des traits de personnalités sur la consommation de substances et évaluer la capacité de prédire la consommation de substances à partir de l’âge et des traits de personnalité. Méthodes : L’échantillon était formé de 428 patients ayant un trouble de jeu pathologique (TJP), divisés en deux groupes selon l’âge (55 jeunes patients [âge ≤ 25 ans] et 373 patients d’âge moyen à avancé [âge > 25 ans]). Tous les patients ont été admis dans un département de psychiatrie et diagnostiqués selon les critères du DSM-IV. En outre, d’autres évaluations cliniques, dont le Diagnostic Questionnaire for Pathological Gambling en vertu des critères du DSM-IV, le South Oaks Gambling Screen (SOGS) et le Temperament and Character Inventory-Revised (TCI-R), ont été utilisées pour examiner les comportements de jeu, la consommation de substances et la personnalité. Résultats : À la comparaison des deux groupes d’âge, nous avons observé des différences statistiquement significatives pour plusieurs variables sociodémographiques. En outre, les plus jeunes patients ayant un TJP présentaient un taux plus élevé de consommation de substances (p = 0,010). Pour ce qui est des traits de personnalité, des différences ont été remarquées seulement à l’échelle de recherche de nouveautés (RN) où les patients plus jeunes obtenaient des cotes élevées (p = 0,006). Des cotes plus élevées (p =0,022) à l’échelle de recherche de nouveautés (RN) et plus basses (p = 0,028) à l’échelle d’auto-transcendance représentaient des traits de personnalité ayant une interrelation significative avec la consommation de tabac (p = 0,003). Toutefois, seul l’âge était associé à la consommation d’autres substances (p =0,003). Conclusions : Les résultats confirment que le trouble de jeu pathologique (TJP) est souvent concomitant avec la consommation de substances. L’interrelation du TJP et de la consommation de tabac, d’alcool et d’autres substances entraîne une gamme d’implications cliniques et liées à la personnalité, particulièrement chez les populations jeunes. Puisque plusieurs études ont démontré que le taux de TJP est plus élevé chez les jeunes, le début précoce du trouble est souvent lié à une gravité accrue et à une persistance des problèmes de jeu. En outre, la présence d’un double diagnostic (consommation de substances) pourrait compliquer la réponse aux traitements. Pour cette raison, l’étude des populations jeunes est d’un intérêt particulier afin de concevoir et de mettre en oeuvre des programmes de traitement qui abordent tous les problèmes liés aux profils cliniques de ce groupe d’âge.

An MS-algebra is an algebra (L; ∨, ∧, ∘, 0, 1) of type (2, 2, 1, 0, 0) such that (L; ∨, ∧, 0, 1) is a distributive lattice with smallest element 0 and greatest element 1, and x ↦ x∘ is a unary operation such that l∘ = 0, x ≤ x∘∘ for all x ∈ L, and (x ∧ y)∘ = x∘ ∨ y∘ for all x, y ∈ L. These algebras belong to the class of Ockham algebras introduced by Berman [3]; see also [2,10,15]. A double MS-algebra is an algebra (L, ∨, ∧, ∘, +, 0, 1) of type (2, 2, 1, 1, 0, 0) such that (L, ∘) and (Ld, +) are MS-algebras, where Ld denotes the dual of L, and the operations ∘, + are linked by the identities x∘+ = x∘∘ and x+∘ = x++. We refer to [5, 6, 7, 8] for the basic properties of MS-algebras and double MS-algebras. Concerning the latter, the properties x∘∘∘ = x∘, x+++ = x+, and x∘ ≤ x+will be used frequently. We study the realization of acyclic cluster algebras as coordinate rings of Coxeter double Bruhat cells in Kac–Moody groups. We prove that all cluster monomials with$\mathbf{g}$-vector lying in the doubled Cambrian fan are restrictions of principal generalized minors. As a corollary, cluster algebras of finite and affine type admit a complete and non-recursive description via (ind-)algebraic group representations, in a way similar in spirit to the Caldero–Chapoton description via quiver representations. In type$A_{1}^{(1)}$, we further show that elements of several canonical bases (generic, triangular, and theta) which complete the partial basis of cluster monomials are composed entirely of restrictions of minors. The discrepancy among these bases is accounted for by continuous parameters appearing in the classification of irreducible level-zero representations of affine Lie groups. We discuss how our results illuminate certain parallels between the classification of representations of finite-dimensional algebras and of integrable weight representations of Kac–Moody algebras.

In this paper, a theoretical model for electron transport through two branch interferometer with one quantum dot in each of its arms has been considered. Both a magnetic flux applied on the circuit and the Rashba spin orbit interaction inside the two dots are taken into account, Rashba spin-orbit interaction contribution are exhibited obviously in the double quantum dots system for the thermoelectric effect, by varying the temperature of the leads , we calculate the conductance (G) and the thermopower (S).

Résumé :

In this paper, a novel structure of a circular patch microstrip antenna based on external corrugations is designed, simulated, and measured to operate in S and C-bands applications. The parameters of this antenna structure, such as input impedance, bandwidth, gain, surface currents, and radiation patterns were studied and improved. This antenna design includes modifying the shape of the radiating patch by cutting seven parts of the tip patch as semi-oval with a diameter and depth of 2 mm between each part, 450 angles. The antenna ground plane was reduced to the size of 40×13 mm2. The insulating substrate has dimensions of 50×40×1.6 mm3. The obtained results showed a good improvement of the antenna performance with resonant frequencies of 3.1 GHz, 7.1 GHz, and fractional bandwidth of 40.8%, 12.4% respectively. This design is simulated using Ansoft High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), and it is compared with the obtained measurement data. Interestingly, the comparison results are in good agreement. The antenna design is helpful for many services operations at these bands of frequencies and their applications.

Résumé :

The updated provisions of the basing theory and the updated composition of the bases are given: installation, guide, support, double guide, double support, and triple support. Base combinations form five sets, each of which can be implemented using explicit or hidden bases or their combinations. It is shown that basing an object with sets of hidden bases causes the greatest difficulties, and a feature of basing an object with hidden bases is determining the position of reference points using the contact points of the object, implemented by the installation elements. When basing an object with a hidden base, the position of the reference point is determined by a self-centering mechanism using the points of contact with the basing object. Various schemes of constructive solutions for basing and fixing objects in sets of hidden bases in self-centering mechanisms are considered.

Résumé :

Schiff bases are a vast group of compounds characterized by the presence of a double bond linking carbon and nitrogen atoms, the versatility of which is generated in the many ways to combine a variety of alkyl or aryl substituents. Compounds of this type are both found in nature and synthesized in the laboratory. For years, Schiff bases have been greatly inspiring to many chemists and biochemists. In this article, we attempt to present a new take on this group of compounds, underlining of the importance of various types of Schiff bases. Among the different types of compounds that can be classified as Schiff bases, we chose hydrazides, dihydrazides, hydrazones and mixed derivatives such as hydrazide–hydrazones. For these compounds, we presented the elements of their structure that allow them to be classified as Schiff bases. While hydrazones are typical examples of Schiff bases, including hydrazides among them may be surprising for some. In their case, this is possible due to the amide-iminol tautomerism. The carbon–nitrogen double bond present in the iminol tautomer is a typical element found in Schiff bases. In addition to the characteristics of the structure of these selected derivatives, and sometimes their classification, we presented selected literature items which, in our opinion, represent their importance in various fields well.

. The article considers the main methodological principles of designing closed double-circuit systems for air purification from polydisperse dust. This cleaning system has a significant advantage compared to its direct-flow counterparts, namely, it allows avoiding emissions of dust not captured in the cleaning apparatus into the atmosphere. This, predominantly fine-grained dust, is captured by repeatedly passing the flow through the catcher of the circulation circuit. That is, the avoidance of environmental pollution is achieved using a new scheme for the movement of a dusty gas stream to be cleaned. The introduction of an innovative flow scheme does not allow the use of traditional calculation methods; therefore, the purpose of the article is to formulate the main methodological approaches to the design of twoloop closed treatment systems. It is shown that the design of a purification system should consist of two main stages. The first is the calculation of the performance indicators of the system elements. It is based on data on the fractional composition of dust (differential distribution curve) and the characteristics of the trapping apparatus and is carried out for the main operating mode of the system (cleaning mode) and the final one (run-out mode). The proposed calculation method, unlike all existing ones, allows obtaining the value of cleaning indicators in dynamics. The second is the hydraulic calculation of the system, consisting of the main and circulation circuits. The calculation is proposed to be carried out by compiling the power balances of each circuit separately and, due to this, it is reasonable to select standard injection equipment for them. The calculation is based on hydraulic indicators, which are determined either by generally accepted hydraulic ratios (reference data), or by the graphs obtained in the course of research and given in the article.
