This thesis is focused on problems of consequences of ageing population and the needs of social care services in terms of bed capacity in retirements homes and nursing homes. The aim of the thesis is to set a projection of bed capacity in these facilities at the level of individual regions and the whole Czech Republic by 2051. The dissertation presents three methods of calculating the future bed capacity which shows that the bed capacity will need to be significantly increased in future. The results found show that there are regional differences in the demographic structure within the Czech Republic at regional level which leads to a different intensity of demand for bed capacity.

This thesis deals with the problems of seniors. Currently in the Czech Republic, but everywhere in the developed countries, a trend of aging and extending the retirement age is taking a shape. For these reasons the problems of the elderly is very actual. Older people sre becoming endangered and can get into a difficult social and financial situation. The aim of this study is to determine what the current possibilities are for senior accommodation service providers, than to analyze current homes for the elderly and to compare the homes for the elderly according to different lenders. The theoretical part presents the contemporary social policy, the current trends, providing of the social services and financing of the homes for the elderly as a social service. It also examines the origins of social policy and the need for social assistance. Practical chapters analyze and compare different homes for the elderly. It focuses on contributory organizations, charitable organizations and limited liability companies, comparing them and trying to figure out which form of the provision is most effective and what are the conditions of homes for the elderly. In conclusion, the work seeks to introduce alternative financing of social services in the form of homes for the elderly.

The objective of my diploma thesis called "Project Planning and Evaluation of Establishment and Operation of a Retirement home" is a feasibility study of a social care investment project. The theoretical part covers methodical foundations based on available resources. In the practical part, I described specific steps of the feasibility study which are relevant to the social care project. The initial part is dedicated to the environment analysis. Based on the market analysis, I defined the target group of the business plan, analyzed the competitive factors and designed a marketing strategy including a marketing mix strategy. Then I defined the project schedule, project management and human resources management. The thesis contains financial analysis determining the need for securing long-term and short-term capital. The thesis is concluded with chapters on project effectiveness and sustainability assessment and on risk management.

The thesis is based on three months of participant observation in a long-term care facility in 2010 and interviews conducted during next three years. It draws from a perspectives of medical anthropology and anthropology of institutions. The focus is on an ethnography of institution for clients with chronic mental disease, dementia and substance abuse. The thesis is mapping institution's components and actors, their social life and relationships in the institution. The analyses is based upon the concept of total institution by Erving Goffman, and draws from thoughts of Josef Pieper, Martin Buber, Emanuel Lévinas and Michel Foucault. A long-term facility is an institution, which shares clients and some of problems with classical examples of total institutions, but recent reforms aimed to minimalize features of total institutions. Still it does not seem to be a vital institution and new aspects of social situation of staff and clients are recognized. Among new problems is non-existence of therapy for the inhabitants, their marginalization through poor financial situation in an institution, where lot of services are paid and little continuity to other forms of care of more community and ambulant character. The diploma thesis deals with finding optimal size for model of residential facilities providing social services. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part deals with social services in general context, presents actual legislation and publishes the view of experts who handle with issues in providing social services. The second research part is focused on data analysis and quantitative survey of social services users. Quantitative research is made by interrogation method through questionnaire. Secondary data analysis is specified on financial costs those facilities and its differences. The aim of diploma thesis is to create optimal model of residential facilities providing social care services. Diploma thesis works with two hypotheses. Hypothesis 1 is : ?The capacity of residential facility providing social services for more than 70 clients do not guarantee providing better services than facilities with lower capacity of clients. ? This hypothesis was confirmed. Hypothesis was statistically tested through working hypotheses and shown in contingency tables and also graphically by descriptive statistics. Hypothesis 2 is : ?Operating costs of residential facility providing social services for less than 70 clients are higher than residential facility providing social services for more than 70 clients.? This hypothesis was also confirmed. Hypothesis was statistically tested by statistic tests and summarized in charts. Results were statistically processed by using multi-scale classification of data in contexts with obtained nominal, ordinal, and cardinal variables. To analyse categorical data were used two statistical tests ? chi square test of independence and t-test. Questionnaires were distributed to the registered providers of social services after their written agreement. Total of 290 questionnaires were sent out and 214 of them returned. Return the sample reached 74%. Importance of this thesis is to get a better insight into the optimal size of residential facility providing social services from the perspective of clients and operating costs. The gathered data from quantitative survey could be useful for students, social workers and in general for all people profesionally focused on the area of building, providing and improving residential facilities providing social services.

This diploma thesis is a microhistorical case study into the field of regional history. It examines the work of the state institutional social care facility - Retirement home in the village Rozsochatec, where the nursing staff cared for the elderly and non-independent people. The staff consisted of nuns of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and several laical helpers between 1952 and 1956. Moreover, the daily life was shaped by the presence of the Roman Catholic priest, as well as by the constant supervision of the district church secretary. The main purpose of this work is an insight into the everydayness of this specific social facility - medical and nursing care, supplying, meals, hygiene, home cleaning and, last but not least, leisure time, spiritual and political life inside the Retirement home are explored. In addition, the work deals with individual actors (social groups) and the chateau building in the village Rozsochatec, in which the social care institution was located. It describes the relationship of the socialist state to the nuns after 1948 and portray one small religious community. Children{\crq}s home is a facility where children whose parents cannot or will not care for them are placed. It provides care whose purpose is to ensure everything a child needs for good development in an environment that tries to be as close as possible to a family. Children are placed in a children{\crq}s home mostly on the basis on a court ruling. A child{\crq}s social situation is, in the context of the work, understood as a situation and circumstances when it is necessary to provide a child with protection or help based on the act on social and legal protection of children, in particular situations that lead to the ordering of institutional care. The aim of this work is to map in more detail what role a children{\crq}s home plays when dealing with a child{\crq}s social situation. The data were obtained as a part of quantitative research whose aim was to verify or refute the set hypotheses. The method of asking questions, interview technique, was chosen for data gathering. Three hypotheses were set as a part of the research part.

This thesis deals with the functioning of the family in connection with the physiological and psychosocial development of children. It also describes the reasons why children are taken away from the family and the options of residential care. The first option is institutional care in orphanages and therefore we mention several organisations that offer projects to help these children in particular to have an easier entry to life after the completion of institutional care. The empirical part of this study analyses the background, the habits and also the preparation of young adults to leave the orphanage in two institutions: Primary school and Orphanage Přestavlky and Orphanage Klánovice. It includes personal life stories of several children not only from the two orphanages but also from children brought up in foster care. The main goal of this thesis was to find out whether the children brought up in orphanages have different vision of the future in comparison with children raised in foster care. The results of our open- ended interview survey are presented in the final part of this paper.

This dissertation focuses on the long term (2006 - 2015) unsolved problems with the critical nature of healthcare payments in residential social services (PZSS) in the Czech Republic. The aim is a critical reflection of the legitimacy and the causes of this condition, including past efforts to identify and solutions. The used research methods are institutional analysis in combination with critical discourse analysis. The work is conceived as a critically-oriented research on social and health policies in the field of health care financing in PZSS in the period 1998 - 2015. Main findings of the cause of this problem are the failure to use the tool health- insurance plans and their unjustifiable replacement tool called. Reimbursement regulations, the use of which in combination with by power unilateral approach in the contractual relationship between health insurance and PZSS not only leads to problems, but especially to the general alienation public health insurance from the objectives and functions of the health system itself, which provides in this case health care in PZSS.

This thesis deals with the issue of institutional care for the elderly in the country. The main goal of this work was to perform a general discourse in the current state of institutional care for the elderly in the country. The secondary objective is to suggest a possible application of special educationalists within accomodational services for health and social services. The main research method was used the analysis and compilation of 168 expert papers. The work is internally divided into seven chapters. The first one deals with the methodology and objectives of the work. The second presents data on age and aging. The third is focused on general aspects of institutional care. The fourth chapter introduces the reader to the current state of health services with a focus on hospice. The fourth chapter discusses the social services especially for elderly homes. The fifth chapter deals with the care of the dying senior and sixth chapter presents the author's conception of a possible application of special educationalists within the accomodational and health services. Gaining independence of clients in the system of the alternative education care is the cardinal topic of the work. Within the framework of the international comparison, the author analyses and makes a survey of the problems accompanying this process. The work does not contain only the conclusions the author came to based on the research in chosen countries (Czech Republic and Poland) but also presents suitable recommendations how the problem of gaining independence of clients of the alternative education care can be solved. The introductory part is applied to theoretical solutions, the international comparisons and examples of a good practice abroad. The author follows opinions of different experts in causalities of the problem from the influence of the biological family through socialization of the clients of the education care to the very problems of the institutional care. He presents these opinions subsequently in the context. This work is focused on the evaluation and verification of the criteria of success foster care on the basis of their own experience. Affects the overall trend of the development of the child in the context of the family and the wider society. The key theme of this study is, above all, approach the importance and advantages of foster care, or clarify so much discussed questions of education of children in substitute family environment in terms of celospolečenského scale. To achieve the desired outcome here were used not only to their own knowledge and experience, which are processed in the individual kasuistikách, but also the conclusions of the expert examination of pedagogical-psychological counseling and specially-educational centre. The Diploma thesis is focused on the application of the psychobiographic care approach in the Home Palata. The main aim of the thesis is to conduct a survey and demarcate the role of social workers in social services during work with the psychobiographic care model, if they are cooperating with each other in this area and how they perceive this model. The empiric part is the mainstay of this thesis; it is constituted of interviews with workers in social services and with social workers as well. They use the psychobiography in the Home Palata while providing care. Suggestions how to maintain the care in this profession and recommendation for the general public and colleagues in different organizations are the results of this thesis. The thesis refers to the importance of care application in accordance with the psychobiographic model in long stay social services because it brings completely new perspective of the human. The thesis is focused on quality standards in social services with the view to clarify the ethical dilemmas that occur in providing client care in elderly homes. Firstly, the work focuses on the transformation of social services of the Czech Republic at the turn of the 20th and 21st century, the emergence of Act no. 108/2006 of Social services, from which emerged for social service providers a legal obligation to create and follow standard of quality that are defined further. Subsequently the thesis continues with the ethics of social work and social workers' Code of Ethics, which sets out the values and ethical principles for their work. This is followed by the description of the ethical dilemmas and ethical issues directly determining the target group of clients who use services of homes for the elderly. This group is also described. The last part of the thesis deals with reflection of concrete ethical dilemmas. Provided dilemmas are solved by standards of quality created by the team of workers working in home for the elderly clients, who in 2012 successfully passed inspections of social services.

Master's project identifies, describes, analyses and provides sugestions of solving ethical problems whom social worker is dealing with when working and looking after clients in terminal phase of their life. Master's project is divided into 4 chapters. First chapter is focusing on explanation of terms like dying, aging, nursing home and social worker. Second chapter is about explanation of chosen ethical terms with whom social worker is often dealing with. Third chapter is focusing on each of all areas where problems may occur for social worker during his work, for example moving clients to the hospital, keeping their privacy during stay in a double bed room and optimizing daily schedules of dying patient. Last area of interest is divided into providing tasks like feeding, hygiene and spiritual care. Last chapter is conclusion of those problems with ideas and examples how to solve them. Moving clients in terminal stadium of their life is within competences of a nurse, however, it would be better if nursing homes would have their own doctors, who could examine and analyse each patient individualy. Dying in a double bed room with presence of another patient is uncomfortable and displeasing moment, that could be solved with spare room, where this roommate could stay during last moments of that dying patient. Food is served in accordance with schedule, which could be good to adjust to clients individual needs. Same adjustments would be good in schedule of staff, to ensure 24 hour care. Spiritual care is insufficient, and social worker is responsible for this situation and should fix it along with coopreation of various churches.

The diploma thesis "Yoga and its impact on the psyche of children and youth in the scope of a charity project" dealt with a current and socially important topic. The introduction explained the importance of this topic and the author's motivation for its elaboration. The first part of the thesis deals with the theoretical background, the importance of charity and social work, its history and present. The next chapter in the theoretical part was devoted to the concepts of yoga. The historical context of yoga in the Czech Republic as well as abroad was described there. Various techniques and types of yoga were emphasized, including its beneficial effects on physicality and psyche. A separate chapter was then devoted to the 1roces of re-socialization of marginal groups of children and youth along with an explanation of how to use the yoga in this 1roces. In the practical part, the survey has been placed and the respondents were introduced. As part of the charity project, the author of the thesis performed yoga and meditation exercises with children at younger school age. A quantitative survey method with ten respondents from the ranks of pedagogical and educational workers of the children's home was used for the research itself. The spiritual needs of pensioners in the residential home in Velká Bíteš Abstract: This theses focuses on spiritual needs of senior citizens living in the residential home for pensioners in Velká Bíteš. The theoretical part concentrates on the human needs, ageing and old age, healh and social services. It deals with spirituality, pastoral care, meaning of life and some religions. The practical part examinates the spiritual needs of pensioners in Velká Bíteš and tries to find out if these are sufficiently met. Further it maps the relation between the elderly to the faith, especially to some religious activities, and their cooperation with pastoral workers. The theses provides specific recommendations based on the results of the survay. The conclusion lists recommendations, which could be put into the practice and increase the quality of the spiritual care for senior citizens in residential facilities.
