Texte intégralThe main objective of this work is to make a contribution to the existing international debate with regard to the consumer protection, a very important discipline for all citizens’ daily life. The opening words of this study may be found in chapter 1, in which an interdisciplinary consumer’s profile is defined. In particular, after a historical reconstruction of consumer protection and consumerism, different economical, psychological and sociological approaches of consumer decision process are proposed. In chapter 2 a series of surveys and recognitions are introduced in regard to the state of the art in order to rebuild the latest set of rules which are related to this matter (discipline) until is coming of the new consumer protection of the latest legislative decree 21/2014 that adopts an approach of "full harmonization" unpublished up to now. In chapter 3 the focus of attention is on the information role for the consumers as concerns the unfair trade practices within the Consume Code (Discipline). The consumer’s right to information is, infact, the guideline of the whole development of consumption relationship. [edited by author]

Texte intégralA free and plural press is a central element of every democratic society and is crucial for the development of an informed public opinion, which can control and address the ruling classes. Since their creation, newspapers have been a very important source of information for the public opinion. From the second half of the twentieth century, moreover, several technological revolutions have modified the role of the press as a vehicle for the circulations of news. From the diffusion of the television to the digital revolution of the last two decades, creation and reporting of news has increased exponentially, and a huge quantity of data is now available to readers and researchers. Although the digital revolution has drastically reduced the material costs of news production, publishing companies have to face many other types of cost. This is the reason why this the production and the distribution of news are characterized by market processes and consequently by supply and demand driving forces. Aim of this work is to study the role of the demand and of the bounded rationality of readers, which are especially interested in news consistent with their beliefs. The model of market for news considered (Mullainhatal and Shleifer, 2005) is based on the idea that the differences between readers opinions lead mass-media to diversify their offer of news and to assume positions that can be even more radical than the readers’ ones. To verify the validity of the model for the Italian market for news, the behaviour of some important newspaper has been studied. The articles that have been analysed concerned two events that had a strong impact on the Italian public: the management of migratory flows coming from Northern-African countries during the month of October 2013 and the endemic spread of H1N1 flu (swine flu) in 2009.

Texte intégralThe PhD thesis in Mathematics titled "Old and New Problems in continuum structural masterials " is divided into two parts. In Part I ( Chapter I and II relative to the " Old Problems" ) is studied in particular the classic behavior of materials from the mechanical point of view. In Chapter I were determined tensors of stress and strain in a solid having the shape of a hollow cylindrical , that is not simply connected , when it does act on it a displacement field able to induce all six elementary distortions of Volterra in the case where the material constituting the solid is homogeneous , linearly elastic and transversely isotropic . Unlike Volterra considers an isotropic body, characterized by two elastic constants : (E and G) , presents in the constitutive relations of the material become five (A, C, F, L and N). The result obtained is that the functions of displacement [u1 (x,y,z), u2 (x,y,z), u3 (x,y,z) ] . meet the indefinite equations of elastic written using the five elastic constants , but as Volterra , they do not cancel the load over the entire border of the hollow cylinder . In other words, do not give rise to a real distortion in that the action of the shift functions do not carry the cylinder from a natural configuration to a spontaneous through an isothermal transformation in which the load boundary is null but only self- balanced... Texte intégralThe current video compression standards MPEG4 and H. 264 improve the tradeoff between rate and quality of compressed videos. They also support new features such as scalability, which enables the user to decompress a single video bit-stream to different rates and spatiotemporal resolutions without any additional computation. However, scalability often results in a performance drop for given resolution and rate. In a first part, we propose a scalable motion- compensated wavelet-based video coder. Wavelet transforms bring more flexibility and offer a natural support to scalability, so that it can be implemented with very limited performance loss. Our main contributions are related to motion-compensated temporal filtering, optimal motion vectors estimation, model-based bit allocation, minimal-cost scalability and occlusion management. Moreover, the proposed decoder is entirely compatible with the still-image coding standard JPEG2000. In a second part, we introduce a distortion measure based on the conditional differential entropy of the input signal given its quantized value. Indeed, mean squared error has been widely used as a distortion criterion, but tends to favor high-energy coefficients. Although this behavior is relevant at high bit-rate, it does not always lead to a better visual quality in the general case. We investigate the intrinsic properties of the proposed distortion measure and we integrate it into optimal scalar and vectorial quantizers. We also propose a fast bit allocation algorithm based on this distortion measure, which leads to a great visual quality improvement of highly-compressed images while preserving JPEG2000 compatibility

Texte intégralThe removal of the sensor signature in the science images has been identified by the LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration as a mandatory path to fullfill its scientific goals. The SAWG working group has been put together to perform this task for the collaboration. It has access to optical benches in some of the laboratories of the collaboration (UC Davis, SLAC, BNL and LPNHE) for this purpose. LSST belongs to a new category of telescopes equiped with large focal planes. For the decade that they have been equipped with thick, high resistivity Charge Coupled Devices (CCD), new effects have been identified. A particular attention is given to the understanding of the electrostatic distortions that are inherent to the CCD properties. These electrostatic distortions have an impact on science measurements. My PhD work is centered on the study of the brighter-fatter effect and the tree-rings. It has been shown that with different kind of illuminations, it was possible to accurately characterize these effects. A fringe projector has been developed on the optical bench of the LPNHE in order to produce these particular illuminations. In this document, we present : a new method, tested on simulations, to characterize the tree-rings; a new method to measure the brighter-fatter effect based on the projection of Ronchi profiles; a complete study of the different properties of the brighter-fatter effect, where we developped a simplified electrostatic model. Finally, the efficiency of a correction method, called descrambling, is evaluated

Texte intégralThe objective of the present thesis is to provide a method and tools that permit to simulate welding distortions in large structures efficiently. The first part of the thesis deals with the modelling of material behaviour. A metallurgical model is proposed. The main advantage of this model is that it provides parameters which can be directly determined on TTT or CCT diagrams and thus easily applied to other materials and applications. Regarding mechanical behaviour, we suggest a simplified approach which enables the user to utilize different hardening laws or flow rules for each metallurgical phase. The second part deals with the modelling and simulation of the welding process in different true-scale components. All the techniques that allow to simulate the welding process, and more particularly dynamic activation of fillet elements and dynamic coupling of parts are presented. Thanks to these techniques, the prediction of distortions in a laboratory sample and a semi-industrial structure is made possible. A sensitivity study on the numerical model enables one to identify the most relevant factors that affect the model's response to distortions. Finally, this global approach is validated by the simulation of the automotive vehicle axle assembly

Texte intégralWelding technology is one of the main joining techniques used in industry for parts assembly in aeronautics, automobiles and ships. One major industrial concern is to limit the use of clamping tools to reduce the cost and facilitate the automation of assembly lines. Optimization of the welding sequence and process is one way to reach this goal. However, experimental optimization requires prototyping and measurements which are extremely expensive and time consuming and finally, very few solutions can be used. Inite element simulations can be used in that aim but the difficulty is, on one hand, that welding processes involve complex physical phenomena and, on the other hand, that where local models are sufficient to predict stresses, only global 3D models can correctly evaluate distortions. N this thesis, a 3D/shell adaptive approach has been thus studied. This method consists in moving a block of 3D elements with the heat source over a mesh initially constituted by shell elements. Specific elements (transition elements) on the boundary of the 3D block have been taken into account. Hereafter, a part of this thesis has been devoted to a local/global approach, which is proposed to determine the welding residual distortions of large structures. The principle of the local/global approach and the problems raised by this approach have been described. Finally, a study of the definition of the local model, by numerical simulations as well as a numerical solution concerning a simplified model, has been carried out

Texte intégralHeat exchangers used in new nuclear power generation plants are made of AISI 316L stainless steel plates stacked in order to improve their efficiency and compactness. During the plates production, residual stresses appear and could cause distortion. To ensure the assembly, this distortion must be controlled and minimized, mainly by controlling the evolution of the residual stress field. Residual stresses generated by manufacturing processes preceding machining were measured using various methods. Then, the obtained residual stresses distributions were integrated into a developed model to predict part distortion, considering the clamping and machining sequence effects. Experimental validation was carried out using a smart experimental device with force sensors integrated in a clamping system was developed. The influence of machining conditions on the plate distortion was also studied using this set-up. Finally, the developed model was used to optimize the machining strategy in order to minimize the distortion

Texte intégralConsidering the inheritance, the study brings to light "distortions" between "civil law" and tax law. First, we proceeded to the identification (part 1) of these conflicts, in a comprehensive study of the inheritance. All the rules governing the taxation of the inheritance, the gifts and legacies were explained. Special contracts were studied : life assurance, tontine. . . Afterwards, we studied the application (part 2) of the distortions. "distortion" aims at making a stand against tax-evasion. Nevertheless, tax law also incite to anticipate the consequences of the inheritance

Texte intégralThe increase in bandwidth and access flexibility are major challenges for future telecommunication networks. In this context, optical fiber is an essential transmission medium that nowadays allows symmetrical data rates in the Gb/s range. The coherent detection and use of multi-carrier modulation formats has recently had a profound impact in the field of optical communications. One of the most notable implementations is the coherent optical OFDM (CO-OFDM). However, OFDM has a significant peak factor due to the various non-linearities of the channel, which is a downside limiting its performance. The objective of this thesis was to optimize the performance of the CO-OFDM transmission system by exploring the pre-distortion of digital baseband signals for linearization of the transmitter, and mainly of the semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). Various pre-distortion algorithms were evaluated and have shown their impact on the trade-off between performance and low parametric complexity. As the pre-distortion system is non-adaptive, its robustness with respect to variations in transmitter characteristics and amplifier operating point was evaluated. The optimization of a particular pre-distortion structure has also been proposed

Texte intégralLess known than Chez Mondrian, or other famous prints, the Distortions of 1933 may appear as a series of minor importance in André Kertész’ work. The series of photographs, wide ranging in numbers, lets us see versions of nude, whose have nothing to do with academic, in the handling given by the photographer. Bodies, distorted by a curved mirror, surprising in their modernity and their strangeness, compared with the rest of the author production. Does it make up a "parenthesis" in his work? To respond to this question, we should wonder about the developing context of these photographs and also the reasons of their creation. An evaluation of visual aspects of each image is necessary, before establishing links and connections with other works made by the photographer. The angle chosen, which favors the direct images by placing them in the center of research focuses on the implementation of Distortions in the light of the order in which aroused objectification, while revealing how this specific framework was exceeded. The complex device used for the shooting is asked then, with the intention of measuring the importance and role of the mirror in the image’s corruption. At this time are addressed through analysis of both formal and aesthetic, the various types of bodies, and their relationship to space in the image. This leads finally to a vision, to put this body in the whole work of Kertész, and to identify the intentional similarities in his creation logic

Texte intégralThis paper deals with the tranfer of cooperatives as a movement of ideas and as specific institutions of europeen origin to developing countries. This analysis is based on the cases of france and morocco. In both casses cooperation was translated in practice by residues normative or institutional. Both residues are manifested in the ethics and in the cooperative principles that the dominating doctrine present as having a universal vocation. That is why they translate in a model of cooperative institutions known for their universal vocation and regulated by specific formal rules. The outcome of this originality differs depending on whether thses cooperative institutions are considered in a context of a developed economy or in a context of an underdeveloped one. In the case of france the cooperatives are obliged to increasingly renounce their originality in order to maintain their role in the economy. This tendency is verified also in the speculiarity which reveals correlative alteration of the nature of the cooperatives and of their distinctive legal principles. In the case of morocco, the transfer of the model of the cooperative institution of europeen origin is manifested at the level of positive law in gestation at the present time. But at the socio-economic level, the cooperatives are hardly detached from the objectives and the activities of the state. This dependance as well as the socio-cultural condition proper to the moroccan society lead ti evident discrepencies between the imported model and the existing cooperatives in our country
