La ricerca ha indagato come specifiche dimensioni della prospettiva temporale, valutate attraverso il Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory, sono in relazione alle strategie d'apprendimento e sono in grado di predire il successo scolastico. Per valutare le strategie d'apprendimento č stata somministrato il Questionario sulle Strategie d'Apprendimento mentre il successo scolastico č stato valutato utilizzando la media dei voti scolastici in differenti materie. Lo studio č stato effettuato su un gruppo di 378 studenti italiani che frequentano l'ultimo anno delle scuole Secondarie. La ricerca ha dimostrato che gli adolescenti orientati maggiormente al presente e quelli che mostrano una maggiore propensione al passato negativo sono meno capaci di pianificare un percorso di obiettivi realistici. Essi utilizzano in misura minore strategie di auto-regolazione e riferiscono un maggiore livello di ansia. Quelli con un piů alto livello di orientamento al futuro e al passato positivo mostrano maggiori competenze nello stabilire e raggiungere gli obiettivi, sanno auto-regolare il loro comportamento e mostrano alti livelli di volizione e capacitŕ di pianificare strategie per far fronte ad obiettivi a lungo termine. Per i maschi il successo scolastico č meglio predetto dalla dimensione disorientamento mentre per le femmine č un basso livello di ansia. La dimensione orientamento al futuro e l'auto-regolazione dell'apprendimento sono gli unici predittori significativi del successo scolastico sia nel gruppo dei maschi che in quello delle femmine. Nelle conclusioni vengono discusse le implicazioni teoriche e pratiche del presente studio.

Gli autori ipotizzano che esista una correlazione fra l'esperienza prevalente del tempo e alcuni disturbi del funzionamento psichico osservabili a livello individuale e sociale. La disorganizzazione dell'orizzonte cronologico dell'esistenza č intesa come una conseguenza delle grandi trasformazioni culturali avvenute nel corso degli anni '70 e '80. A loro volta, questi cambiamenti sono conseguenza di piů discrete modificazioni avvenute nelle relazioni familiari e nella struttura sociale. A livello individuale ciň ha prodotto un'epidemia di disturbi narcisistici che si esprimono in manifestazioni psicopatologiche in passato inesistenti o infrequenti (disturbi alimentari, condotte antisociali, diffuse appetenze patologiche e tossicofilie vecchie e nuove). Mentre nel campo delle dinamiche istituzionali č in aumento la conflittualitŕ esplicita e/o implicita (secondo il modello bioniano dell'attacco-e-fuga o della dipendenza passiva) che coesiste con il venir meno dei conflitti strutturali che strutturanti fra le classi e fra le generazioni. Questa tesi č argomentata attraverso due esempi clinici. Il primo tratto da un trattamento psicoanalitico individuale e il secondo da una supervisione all'équipe di una Comunitŕ Terapeutica, tenuta in scacco da una paziente gravemente borderline.

Lo studio ha analizzato la relazione tra il benessere psicologico e la prospettiva temporale in un gruppo di adolescenti (etŕ media 16,65 anni) ed un gruppo di giovani-adulti (etŕ media 22,57 anni). Gli adolescenti sono stati suddivisi in due gruppi, media adolescenza e tarda adolescenza. Nei giovani-adulti si osserva un punteggio piů alto nella dimensione del futuro rispetto ai due gruppi di adolescenti, mentre il presente riporta un punteggio piů basso rispetto sempre agli adolescenti. Il benessere psicologico presenta anch'esso un punteggio piů elevato nei giovani-adulti rispetto agli adolescenti di entrambe le fasce d'etŕ. Sono state condotte tre analisi correlazionali separate per i tre gruppi mentre l'analisi della covarianza ha verificato l'influenza dell'etŕ sulle relazioni tra prospettiva temporale e benessere nei tre gruppi. Negli adolescenti il presente č positivamente correlato con le Relazioni Positive con gli altri e negativamente con lo Scopo di Vita e con il Benessere Psicologico generale. Nei giovani-adulti esso correla negativamente con il benessere psicologico generale. Negli adolescenti il futuro č correlato positivamente con l'Autoaccettazione, le Relazioni Positive con gli Altri, lo Scopo di Vita, ed alla Crescita Personale. Nei giovaniadulti il futuro č correlato positivamente con lo Scopo di Vita, il Dominio Ambientale, la Crescita Personale, l'Autoaccettazione, ed il benessere psicologico globale. Lo studio evidenzia la rilevanza della prospettiva temporale centrata sul futuro per lo sviluppo e l'attualizzazione delle risorse e delle potenzialitŕ nel passaggio dall'adolescenza all'etŕ di giovani-adulti e del tempo presente per la costruzione di relazioni significative unicamente nei due gruppi di adolescenti.

Le misure di sicurezza imposte dai governi per limitare la diffusione del contagio da SARS-CoV-2 e la conseguente condizione di isolamento in cui sono coinvolti individui e famiglie stanno inevitabilmente indebolendo quella dimensione sociale e relazionale che rende unica la nostra specie. Le fasce di popolazione che stanno pagando il prezzo più alto, in termini di impoverimento delle relazioni, sono quelle deboli: anziani e bambini. Se, infatti, gli anziani sono stati costretti a ridurre drasticamente i contatti con i propri familiari, vivendo una condizione, seppur cautelativa, di solitudine forzata, i bambini stanno sperimentando un ulteriore, grave depauperamento: quello dei momenti di gioco tra pari, fondamentali per la costruzione della loro futura personalità. Il difficile periodo che stiamo attraversando sottopone i bambini a una disorientante dilatazione della dimensione temporale che, abitualmente, nella scuola dell'infanzia, è scandita da attività ludiche e momenti di con-divisione. L'isolamento, invece, impone uno spazio fisico - quello abitativo -ò in cui, giocoforza, non viene più esperita la relazionalità ludica tra pari, privando i bambini di un tempo imprescindibile: quello che consentirebbe loro, attraverso il gioco, di decodificare la realtà sociale, con le sue regole, i suoi ordini, le sue gerarchie.

L'evoluzione delle tecniche e delle applicazioni legate all'impiego di animali geneticamente modificati, unite a un forte progresso nello sviluppo di sistemi di imaging volti a garantire una sempre maggiore risoluzione, permettono oggi di analizzare nei più fini dettagli un'ampia gamma di fenomeni fisiopatologici. La fusione delle nuove metodiche applicabili nei due campi ha reso possibile, per esempio, non solo l'analisi di processi biologici in vivo nel momento in cui avvengono, ma anche la loro visualizzazione a livello dell'intero organo. Allo stesso tempo è possibile creare ricostruzioni in due o in tre dimensioni dell'intero organo o di sue particolari unità funzionali. A ciò è inoltre possibile aggiungere la dimensione temporale grazie ad analisi in time lapse o per acquisizione di dati in maniera continua. La finalità di questo primo contributo è volta alla revisione delle più recenti innovazioni nei campi della transgenesi e della microscopia, con particolare attenzione a come tali innovazioni sono realizzate e ai vantaggi che ne derivano. Le possibili applicazioni e i vantaggi derivanti dall'impiego di tutti questi sistemi saranno invece analizzati e valutati in maggior dettaglio nel prossimo numero di questa rubrica.

A partire da testi profondamente diversi come il Canzoniere petrarchesco e una raccolta di scritti autobiografici di pazienti oncologiche, l'autore compie un'indagine sul concetto di speranza, in particolare sulla sua dimensione temporale e sulla sua connessione con l'attivazione del pensiero. Con riferimenti teorici eterogenei che vanno da Bloch a Borgna, da Minkowski a Marcel, da Demetrio a Bénasayag e Schmit, dalla psicoanalisi alla teologia biblica e alla sociologia, si indagano gli aspetti regressivi e quelli evolutivi della speranza considerata come proiezione del futuro nel presente che influisce sull'elaborzione del proprio passato personale. Infine si osserva come il tempo della contemporaneitÀ sia impermeabile alla speranza, che sopravvive solo in ambiti quali la scrittura, la creativitÀ, la lentezza, il silenzio nei quali ci si puň ancora prendere cura di sé.

Commentando l'articolo di Cannalire, l'autore evidenzia elementi comuni tra lo psicodramma freudiano e la psicoterapia della Gestalt, come lo sfondo ideologico-epistemologico che considera fondante una lettura relazionale dell'identitŕ e un intervento terapeutico gruppale focalizzato sui confini che separano/uniscono i partecipanti nel campo fenomenologico. Altre comunanze sono rintracciate nella considerazione dell'esperienza come strumento di consapevolezza e di cambiamento, e nel ripristino della spontaneitŕ organismica come obiettivo di benessere. Le differenze teoriche e metodologiche individuate dall'autore (la famiglia o la pňlis come prototipo del gruppo, il contatto o i processi identificativi e/o proiettivi, la dimensione temporale dell'esperienza, il passato che si riattualizza o la focalizzazione sul now-for next, la ripetizione o la co-creazione) forniscono al lettore le chiavi di lettura per orientarsi tra le peculiaritŕ dei due approcci terapeutici.

L'autrice, nel riportare un'esperienza clinica, ripercorre il processo terapeutico riflettendo su alcuni accadimenti legati alla matrice somatica della coppia analitica a lavoro. Le risonanze diadiche attivate nel campo rimandano alle dinamiche implicite psicofisiche della diade madre/bambino, potendo considerare alcuni "fenomeni corporei" come la base corporea dei fenomeni transizionali. In quest'area terza la madre deve concedersi di farsi "usare" come strumento facilitatore del contatto tra realtà esterna e realtà interna. La coppia analitica si è ritrovata nuovamente a lavoro dopo sedici anni: alla luce dell'esperienza clinica odierna e delle recenti teorizzazioni sul contro-transfert corporeo, ha guardato al campo analitico e al suo dinamismo connesso alla tessitura temporale come una dimensione nuova, uno spazio terzo intersoggettivo in cui l'arrendevolezza ad esso trasforma e alchimizza i temi e il tempo della vita.

La pubblicazione in Gazzetta Ufficiale del Nuovo Codice della Crisi d'Impresa e dell'Insolvenza ha introdotto rilevanti novità in materia di procedure di allerta e di composizione assistita della crisi che, dall'entrata in vigore, avranno effetti immediati sul tessuto imprenditoriale italiano. Obiettivo del presente lavoro è quello di testare le possibili ripercussioni che l'introduzione di indicatori di allerta avrà nel settore moda, simbolo del made in Italy. A tal fine, su un campione di 281 imprese italiane, nell'orizzonte temporale 2009-2017, sono state condotte una Cluster k-means analysis, sull'intero campione e su sotto campioni ripartiti per età, dimensione e attività merceologica, e l'analisi dei percentili. I principali risultati, rilevando differenze significative tra i sotto campioni e mostrando l'andamento della distribuzione campionaria sulla base di ipotetici cut-off, evidenziano una oggettiva difficoltà nell'individuazione di valori soglia validi tout court. La discussione conclusiva, inoltre, sottolinea l'importanza di adottare un approccio forward looking, al fine di esprimere un giudizio in merito alle effettive capacità prospettiche delle imprese, e la necessità di ripensare le strutture di governance e i sistemi di pianificazione e monitoraggio.

Nel presente lavoro si analizza un progetto di coaching sociale e supporto all'abitare del Ser.D. dell'AULSS 4 Veneto Orientale dedicato a pazienti che necessitano di interventi di riabilitazione psicosociale nell'ottica del recovery.Vengono presentate sia le caratteristiche del dispositivo riabilitativo che una valutazione quantitativa degli esiti di un gruppo di 29 pazienti trattati nell'arco temporale 2015-2018.La valutazione quantitativa è stata effettuata utilizzando un questionario elaborato assumendo come riferimento la scala HoNOS. Si accenna inoltre alla dimensione narrativa della relazione attraverso due frammenti di interazione paziente-educatore con il fine di evidenziare come l'affiancamento educativo permetta all'operatore di diventare per il paziente un mediatore psichico ed allo stesso tempo un potenziatore delle sue social skills.Benché siano evidenti i limiti metodologici insiti nel campione numericamente esiguo, nel carattere osservazionale del lavoro e nell'uso di un questionario non validato, la maggior parte dei casi trattati mostra un miglioramento nei punteggi relativi alle competenze psicosociali, che è più evidente in quelli che hanno avuto almeno 18 mesi di trattamento.In conclusione si ritiene opportuno dare continuità al progetto estendendone l'applicazione e migliorando nel contempo la valutazione degli esiti.

Le molteplici osservazioni di Nietzsche intorno al corpo rappresentano senza dubbio uno snodo ermeneutico fondamentale nell’ambito della riflessione morale sul tema della corporeità. Al tempo stesso, la ricostruzione del suo pensiero su questo delicato argomento va a costituire un banco di prova decisivo per ripensare criticamente la ragione, provando a rivedere la sua posizione all’interno del mondo dell’umano. Il leitmotiv del corpo lega ben salde fra loro le aspre critiche che Nietzsche rivolge alla civiltà occidentale, la quale, da Socrate in poi, ha visto il predominio di una razionalità astratta e calcolante ai danni di una ragione incarnata e più umana. Dagli scritti giovanili a quelli della maturità, dallo Zarathustra agli ultimi pamphlet polemici, passando per la miriade dei frammenti postumi. Disseminato in quasi tutte le sue opere e spalmato su un arco temporale di quasi vent’anni, il suo interesse per la dimensione corporea dell’umano non perde mai di tensione. ---------- Nietzsche’s various observations about the body represent without a doubt a fundamental hermeneutic crossroad in the area of the moral reflection on the topic of corporeity. At the same time, the reconstruction of his thought on this delicate subject constitutes a decisive test bed to critically re-think reason, seeking to review its position within the world of the humane. The leitmotif of the body firmly binds to one another the harsh critiques which Nietzsche moves to the Western civilisation, which, from Socrates onward, saw the dominance of an abstract and calculating form of rationality, to the detriment of an incarnated and more humane reason. From the early writings to the mature ones, from the Zarathustra to the late polemical pamphlets, through the myriad posthumous fragments. Scattered around almost all of his works and stretching over almost twenty years, Nietzsche’s interest in the corporeal dimension of the humane never drops tension.

Il presente contributo nasce dall'analisi di alcune esperienze di destination management avviate da un campione di urban destination europee. L'articolo intende cogliere alcune best practices che tali modelli suggeriscono, qui proposte come vere e proprie sfide per realizzare un'effettiva gestione sovraordinata (destination management). La riflessione č declinata per le urban destination, ma di per sé puň trovare applicazione anche per altri tipi di localitŕ. L'utilitŕ della riflessione č principalmente da mettere in relazione con le difficoltŕ che le destinazioni italiane spesso mostrano nell'avviare un'effettiva gestione sovraordinata. Si tratta di un grave limite, poiché č principalmente questo livello di management che puň farsi carico dello sviluppo di nuovi prodotti, della gestione delle stagionalitŕ, del riposizionamento sul mercato. La riflessione si basa su tre casi, rappresentati dalle cittŕ di Barcellona, Berlino e Vienna, letti alla luce del modello dinamico di destination management (Sainaghi, 2006). Le best practice sono identificate lungo la dimensione dell'assetto istituzionale sovraordinato, cioč della struttura di corporate governance della Destination Management Organisation (DMO). Su questo fronte si riportano alcune "provocazioni" che tali modelli suggeriscono, soprattutto circa la struttura finanziaria, i meccanismi di raccolta dei contributi monetari, il rapporto tra politica e gestione, l'ampiezza degli stakeholder da coinvolgere. Una seconda area di riflessione č rappresentata dai processi di metamanagement, cioč dalle attivitŕ che la DMO mette in campo. Su questo fronte, i casi europei suggeriscono alcuni chiari orientamenti sulla definizione degli obiettivi, sull'orizzonte temporale, su alcuni accenti che devono caratterizzare i processi operativi e di supporto.

Is it possible for two material objects to share the very same boundary? Material collocation is a metaphysical thesis that allows for two qualitatively distinct objects to share the same boundary of a matter-filled region of space and, therefore, to be made of the same stuff despite them differing in some metaphysical respects (e.g., temporal or modal properties). This article addresses the metaphysical implications of material collocation on a boundary account and how things persist across time. It discusses endurantism and perdurantism in terms of boundaries: while the former postulates physical objects as entities having boundaries along the three spatial dimensions, the latter postulates them as entities having boundaries along four dimensions, considering time as an extra dimension. Finally, the article raises two criticisms against perdurantism: one related to Heller’s commitment to boundary essentialism of four-dimensional objects, and the other to the resemblance argument between spatial and temporal boundaries.vamente diferentes comparten el mismo límite de una región espacial material y, por lo tanto, se componen de la misma materia a pesar de que difieren en algunos aspectos metafísicos (e.g., propiedades temporales y/o modales). IntroduzioneNella abbondante letteratura che prefigura una crisi delle convenzionali forme di politica nelle democrazie dell'Europa occidentale un'enfasi speciale è stata posta sulla presunta sfida rivolta ai più tradizionali e consolidati partiti di massa. La stessa politica tradizionale è vista come passè ed i grandi partiti di massa, che ne rappresentano la più classica incarnazione, sono ritenuti — a torto o a ragione — strumenti sempre più inadeguati all'incanalamento delle forme contemporanee della rappresentanza.La vulnerabilità dei partiti di massa tradizionali pare derivare da due distinti processi. In primo luogo questi partiti sono ritenuti vulnerabili in termini ideologici e di politiche, in quanto rifletterebbero temi e problemi che corrispondono sempre meno agli interessi contemporanei. In secondo luogo, sono visti come vulnerabili sotto il profilo organizzativo, in quanto cittadini più istruiti, articolati e informati non sarebbero più soddisfatti della passività e/o anonimità che caratterizza la partecipazione in questo tipo di partiti e della natura essenzialmente oligarchica attraverso la quale si ritiene venga esercitato il loro controllo. Seguendo con varie intonazioni entrambe queste linee di ragionamento, gran parte della letteratura contemporanea pone conseguentemente l'accen to sulla erosione dei partiti tradizionali e suggerisce un potenziale riallineamento a favore di partiti più recenti e più piccoli, che appaiono allo stesso tempo più sensibili verso le nuove issues e più aperti verso nuove forme di partecipazione. L'emergere di partiti ecologisti in un gran numero di democrazie europee è spesso citato come la prova più evidente della base di un tale riallineamento, ma evidenza dello stesso tipo può anche essere individuata per un gruppo più ampio di partiti che vanno dai Radicali italiani a D'66 nei Paesi Bassi e ai Socialisti di sinistra in Danimarca e Norvegia (Poguntke 1987).Tuttavia, è chiaro che ognuno di questi argomenti ha implicazioni alquanto diverse. Se, per esempio, quello corretto è il primo, allora il motore principale del cambiamento è il grado di insoddisfazione programmatica e se i partiti tradizionali si rivelassero incapaci di adattarsi dovremmo aspettarci che il riallineamento conseguente favorisca i nuovi partiti. Se invece è corretta la seconda ipotesi, allora il cambiamento principale deriva da insoddisfazione organizzativa e potrebbe risultarne un riallineamento a favore dei piccoli partiti. In realtà i due processi possono essere combinati solo nella misura in cui partiti nuovi tendono anche ad essere partiti piccoli e viceversa, un punto su cui dovremo tornare in seguito.L'importanza di distinguere tra partiti nuovi e partiti piccoli emerge anche al semplice livello di definizione. Mentre la definizione di cosa costituisca un «nuovo» partito (rispetto a un partito della «nuova politica») non sembra porre difficoltà molto superiori a quelle di stabilire una data di soglia temporale, la definizione di cosa sia un partito «piccolo» è molto più problematica. In quest'ultimo caso sono disponibili due strategie. In primo luogo possiamo definire la piccola dimensione in termini di nlevanza sistemica, o facendo ricorso ai criteri identificati da Sartori (1976, 121-25) oppure a criteri alternativi anch'essi basati sul ruolo sistemico dei partiti in questione (Smith 1987). Tuttavia, in questo caso si tende inevitabilmente a parlare di partiti rilevanti o irrilevanti piuttosto che di partiti piccoli o grandi per sè. La seconda alternativa è quella più ovvia, secondo cui piccoli e grandi partiti possono essere distinti sulla base della semplice dimensione, sia essa elettorale, parlamentare, organizzativa o altro. Di sicuro i piccoli partiti possono essere partiti rilevanti e quelliirrilevanti · possono essere piccoli. In ultima analisi, tuttavia, nel nostro caso «piccolo» si deve riferire alla dimensione piuttosto che al ruolo.Questo lavoro è parte di un più ampio progetto dedicato alla esperienza dei piccoli partiti nell'Europa occidentale ed altri contributi del progetto tratteranno il ruolo sistemico dei piccoli partiti, le varie soglie di rilevanza nella loro vita e le varie esperienze in un gran numero di diversi contesti nazionali (Mueller, Rommel e Pridham, in via di pubblicazione). L'obiettivo di questo lavoro è semplicemente quello di offrire un quadro di sintesi sull'universo elettorale dei piccoli partiti nell'Europa occidentale del dopoguerra. Attraverso questa analisi spero di mostrare il grado in cui le fortune elettorali di tali partiti sono cambiate nel tempo, di identificare quei paesi e quei periodi in cui tali cambiamenti sono stati più pronunciati e, in particolare, di identificare quali piccoli partiti ne sono stati coinvolti.Va inoltre aggiunto che si tratta di una analisi a carattere largamente induttivo: cercherò prima di definire cosa costituisca un piccolo partito e in seguito di investigare le modalità e le spiegazioni del cambiamento nel sostegno elettorale aggregato di questi partiti. Intuitivamente si ha la sensazione che il sostegno elettorale dei piccoli partiti sia aumentato negli anni del dopoguerra. Per esempio, la recente nascita di piccoli partiti ecologici, così come le numerose analisi che suggeriscono un declino dei cleavages tradizionali di classe e religione e la crisi concomitante affrontata da quei partiti tradizionali e di grandi dimensioni che mobilitano il voto lungo queste linee di cleavage, sembrano implicare che i partiti di piccola taglia siano divenuti sempre più importanti con il tempo. Anche in questo caso, tuttavia, ci vuole cautela nel mettere in relazione prognosi di mutamento con una classificazione di partiti derivata dalla sola taglia. Non tutti i partiti piccoli sono partiti nuovi, né tantomeno partiti della «nuova politica», e molti si mobilitano elettoralmente in riferimento a linee di frattura molto tradizionali. Un esempio pertinente è quello del Partito popolare svedese in Finlandia. Inoltre, non tutti i nuovi partiti sono partiti piccoli, come evidenzia il successo elettorale della nuova Associazione Cristiano-democratica nei Paesi Bassi. Per la verità, si può anche dubitare che una categorizzazione dei partiti in soli termini di taglia abbia un significato teorico; ma questo è un problema diverso, sul quale torneremo in seguito.Nonostante questi caveat rimane incontestabile che una lettura non-critica della letteratura contemporanea suggerirebbe che vi è stato nel tempo un aumento di voti verso i piccoli partiti e questa ipotesi di partenza dirigerà la nostra analisi. Nella prossima sezione opereremo una classificazione dei partiti a seconda della loro taglia e, su questa base, una classificazione dei sistemi di partito a seconda della distribuzione dei diversi tipi di partiti. Successivamente analizzeremo la tendenza temporale del sostegno elettorale ai piccoli partiti e cercheremo di offrire alcune spiegazioni per la variazione di queste tendenze. Infine, esamineremo in che modo il voto per i piccoli partiti si distribuisce nelle diverse famiglie politico-ideologiche e studiere-mo l'andamento elettorale dei diversi sottogruppi di piccoli partiti, inclusi i «nuovi» piccoli partiti e i «vecchi» piccoli partiti.

The interaction among two spectral and two temporal dimensions that contribute to urgency was investigated by conducting a discrimination experiment. Discrimination performance for each dimension was evaluated when a second dimension (i.e., dimension not being discriminated) was subject to no variation, correlated variation, and uncorrelated variability. For the pair of spectral dimensions and the pair of temporal dimensions, variation on the second dimension produces facilitation in the correlated condition and interference in the uncorrelated condition. No influence occurs for other pairings. The implications of these results were confirmed in a multi-dimensional scaling (MDS) experiment examining the pitch, perceived repetition rate, and urgency of sounds. The data obtained from the pitch and perceived repetition rate conditions indicate that the spectral dimensions determine the pitch of sounds and the temporal dimensions determine the perceived repetition rate of sounds. The data obtained from the urgency conditions indicate all four dimensions influence urgency and frequency is the most salient.

 AbstractTaking as a model the tradition “Dónde y cómo el diablo perdió el poncho”, the style of Palma is analyzed, under the narratological approach, focusing on the following elements of literary creation: construction of characters and handling of the temporal and spatial dimensions, without leaving aside the aspectual dimension contained in the theme and the circumstances produced after the unrealisation process operated in the text. This balance shows Palma’s extraordinary creative capacity to fictionalize stories, to show us, in this case, a textual Ica that, without leaving its landscape essence and the idiosyncrasy of its characters, becomes another Ica, which houses protagonists and antagonists in an unprecedented spatiotemporal dimension. A recent study on rainfall observed at the Leaf River basin reports that the presence of a large number of zeros in the data significantly underestimates the correlation dimension. The present study attempts to verify such a claim, by making predictions and comparing the results with the correlation dimensions. A nonlinear prediction method, which uses the concept of reconstruction of a single-variable series in a multi-dimensional phase space to represent the underlying dynamics, is employed. Correlation dimension analysis of only the non-zero rainfall series is also carried out for further verification. Rainfall data of four different temporal resolutions (or scales), i.e. daily, 2-day, 4-day and 8-day, are analyzed. The predictions for the finer-resolution (i.e. higher-resolution) rainfall are found to be better than those obtained for the coarser-resolution (i.e. lower-resolution) rainfall and seem to be consistent with the variability vs. predictability logic in a deterministic sense, i.e. higher prediction accuracy for data with lower correlation dimension and vice versa. An important implication of this result is that the presence of (a large number of) zeros in the rainfall data may not always result in an underestimation of the correlation dimension. The correlation dimensions estimated for the non-zero rainfall series are not significantly different when compared to those obtained for series including zero values, supporting the above. These results suggest that the low correlation dimensions for rainfall (in particular finer-resolution ones that commonly have a large number of zeros), as reported by past studies, could well be, or at least closer to, the actual dimensions of the rainfall processes studied.

Based on construal level theory and subadditivity effect, in this study we examined the joint impacts of multiple dimensions of psychological distance (i.e., social and temporal distance) on consumer evaluations of a company in which the behavior was ambivalent in terms of morality or competence. The findings indicated that consumers perceiving the company as both socially and temporally close evaluated it more favorably when ambivalence concerned morality. However, when 1 or more dimensions of psychological distance extended, consumers tended to evaluate the company more favorably when the source of ambivalence concerned competence. These findings suggest that consumer evaluations of a company are influenced by not only which aspect of company behavior is ambivalent, but also by whether or not it is a single dimension or multiple dimensions of psychological distance being considered. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed.

The effects of various combinations of modalities with the dimensions of space and time on reproduction of stimulus patterns by 162 normal and 83 reading-disabled children aged 6 to 12 yr. was studied. Scores on three subtests with three different combinations of modalities with space and time dimensions were analyzed. They were (a) visual temporal input, vocal temporal output; (b) auditory temporal input, vocal temporal output; and (c) visual spatial-temporal input, vocal temporal output. Visual spatial-temporal input was superior to the other subtests. Auditory temporal input was superior to visual temporal input. There were significant differences between normal and reading-disabled subjects on each subtest so the spatial dimension gives an advantage. The spatial and temporal dimensions need to be attended to in research.

Video question answering (QA) aims to understand the video scene and underlying plot by answering video questions. An algorithm that can competently cope with this task needs to be able to: (1) collect multi-modal information scattered in the video frame sequence while extracting, interpreting, and utilizing the potential semantic clues provided by each piece of modal information in the video, (2) integrate the multi-modal context of the above semantic clues and understand the cause and effect of the story as it evolves, and (3) identify and integrate those temporally adjacent or non-adjacent effective semantic clues implied in the above context information to provide reasonable and sufficient visual semantic information for the final question reasoning. In response to the above requirements, a novel temporally multi-modal semantic reasoning with spatial language constraints video QA solution is reported in this paper, which includes a significant feature extraction module used to extract multi-modal features according to a significant sampling strategy, a spatial language constraints module used to recognize and reason spatial dimensions in video frames under the guidance of questions, and a temporal language interaction module used to locate the temporal dimension semantic clues of the appearance features and motion features sequence. Specifically, for a question, the result processed by the spatial language constraints module is to obtain visual clues related to the question from a single image and filter out unwanted spatial information. Further, the temporal language interaction module symmetrically integrates visual clues of the appearance information and motion information scattered throughout the temporal dimensions, obtains the temporally adjacent or non-adjacent effective semantic clue, and filters out irrelevant or detrimental context information. The proposed video QA solution is validated on several video QA benchmarks. Comprehensive ablation experiments have confirmed that modeling the significant video information can improve QA ability. The spatial language constraints module and temporal language interaction module can better collect and summarize visual semantic clues.

In order to reduce power consumption and save storage capacity, we propose a high-resolution sub-Nyquist radar approach based on matrix completion (MC), termed as single-channel sub-Nyquist-MC radars. While providing the high-resolution joint angle-Doppler estimation, this proposed radar approach minimizes the number of samples in all three dimensions, that is, the range dimension, the pulse dimension (also named temporal dimension), and the spatial dimension. In range dimension, we use a single-channel analog-to-information converter (AIC) to reduce the number of range samples to one; in both spatial and temporal dimensions, we employ a bank of random switch units to regulate the AICs, which greatly reduce the number of spatial-temporal samples. According to the proposed sampling scheme, the samples in digital processing center forwarded by M receive nodes and N pulses are only a subset of the full matrix of size M times N. Under certain conditions and with the knowledge of the sampling scheme, the full matrix can be perfectly recovered by using MC techniques. Based on the recovered full matrix, this paper addresses the problem of the high-resolution joint angle-Doppler estimation by employing compressed sensing (CS) techniques. The properties and performance of the proposed approach are demonstrated via simulations.

<p>The ability to powerfully and persuasively impact the audience is an important part of one’s career and life. Humor in public speaking is an effective way to inform, persuade and connect with the audience. In this paper, I apply the framework of analyzing context in terms of three dimensions - physical, temporal and experiential, to study humor use in public speaking. The results of the analysis of ten speech samples show that in the selected public speeches, non-verbal elements play an important role in the humor practice based on the physical contextual dimension. The temporal contextual dimension is most widely utilized in humor design. Humor based on the experiential contextual dimension reaches higher level of efficiency. Humor that employs a combination of different contextual dimensions increases the value of the intended effects.</p>

Thresholds for the discrimination of temporal order were determined for selected auditory and visual stimulus dimensions in 10 normal-adult volunteers. Auditory stimuli consisted of binary pure tones varying in frequency or sound pressure level, and visual stimuli consisted of binary geometric forms varying in size, orientation, or color. We determined the effect of psychophysical method and the reliability of performance across stimulus dimensions. Using a single-track adaptive procedure, Experiment 1 showed that temporal-order thresholds (TOTs) varied with stimulus dimension, being lowest for auditory frequency, intermediate for size, orientation, and auditory level, and longest for color. Test performance improved over sessions and the profile of thresholds across stimulus dimensions had a modest reliability. Experiment 2 used a double-interleaved adaptive procedure and TOTs were similarly ordered as in Experiment 1. However, TOT swere significantly lower for initially ascending versus descending tracks. With this method, the reliability of the profile across stimulus dimensions and tracks was relatively low. In Experiment 3, psychometric functions were obtained for each of the stimulus dimensions and thresholds were defined as the interpolated 70.7% correct point. The relative ordering of TOTs was similar to those obtained in the first two experiments. Non-monotonicities were found in some of the psychometric functions, with the most prominent being for the color dimension. A crossexperiment comparison of results demonstrates that TOTs and their reliability are significantly influenced by the psychophysical method. Taken together, these results support the notion that the temporal resolution of ordered stimuli involves perceptual mechanisms specific to a given sensory modality or submodality.

Data warehouse dimensions are usually considered to be static because their schema and data tend not to change; however, both dimension schema and dimension data can change. This paper focuses on a type of dimension data change called reclassification which occurs when a member of a certain level becomes a member of a higher level in the same dimension, e.g. when a product changes category (it is reclassified). This type of change gives rise to the notion of classification period and to a type of query that can be useful for decision-support. For example, What were total chess-set sales during first classification period in Toy category? A set of operators has been proposed to facilitate formulating this type of query and it is shown how to incorporate them in SQL, a familiar database developer language. Our operators' expressivity is also shown because formulating such queries without using these operators usually leads to complex and nonintuitive solutions.

 La gestión del deporte contemporáneo gira en torno a la performance organizacional y su consecuencia en la performance deportiva. Se diseñó un estudio de casos, ex post facto, un análisis retrospectivo (2000-2019) de una unidad organizacional (Federación Española de Bádminton, FESBA) de naturaleza preferentemente cualitativa, que interactúa con predicciones estadísticas y análisis de las evoluciones temporales. El estudio contempla cinco dimensiones (Económica, Deportiva, Social, Organizativa y Difusión) y veinticinco variables. La dimensión social, económica, organización de competiciones nacionales, calidad de los resultados y difusión se muestran como indicadores claves (dimensiones palancas). La dimensión económica correlaciona con licencias de deportistas, número de clubes y competiciones nacionales organizadas (Rho=.964, .967 y .904 respectivamente). La dimensión organizativa tuvo una consecuencia directa en un aumento de las competiciones nacionales, consiguiendo un mayor interés por el seguimiento del bádminton en los canales de difusión (Rho=.838). Se han apreciado crecimientos estables en la dimensión social. Es a partir de 2014 cuando se acentúa esta evolución, coincidiendo con una estrategia audiovisual por parte de FESBA y una proyección de la figura de Carolina Marín. Los recursos de la FESBA han permitido obtener un mayor número de practicantes generando más licencias escolares, en un sistema de competiciones nacionales, con un incremento de la variable calidad de resultados, simultáneamente con un mayor número de licencias federadas y clubes. Esta afirmación interactúa con el efecto de difusión en TV y medios. Se demuestra la sincronía entre la evolución de los datos analizados y el desempeño materializado en los distintos programas desarrollados por FESBA. 
 Abstract. The management of contemporary sports is based on organizational performance and its consequence in sports performance. An ex post facto case study was designed, a retrospective analysis (2000-2019) of an organizational unit (Spanish Badminton Federation, FESBA) of apreferably qualitative nature, which interacts with statistical predictions and analysis of temporal evolutions. The study includes five dimensions (Economic, Sports, Social, Organizational and Dissemination) and twenty-five variables. The social and economic dimensions, the organization of national competitions, the quality of the results and the dissemination are shown as key indicators (leverage dimensions). The economic dimension correlates with sportsman's licenses, number of clubs and organized national competitions (Rho = .964, .967 and .904 respectively). The organizational dimension had a direct consequence in anncrease in national competitions, achieving a greater interest in broadcast channels (Rho = .838). Stable growth has been observed in the social dimension. It is from 2014 when this evolution is accentuated, coinciding with an audiovisual strategy by FESBA and a projection of the figure of Carolina Marín. The resources of the FESBA have made it possible to obtain a greater number of practitioners generating more school licenses, in a system of national competitions, with an increase in the variable quality of results, simultaneously with a greater number of official licenses and clubs. This statement interacts with the broadcast effect on TV and the media. The synchrony between the evolution of the data analyzed and the performance materialized in the different programs developed by FESBA is demonstrated.

In a sensor network, and more specifically with a single-hop deployment policy, sensor measurements contain a lot of redundancy either in the measurement dimensions of a single sensor, or between the measurement dimensions of different sensors due to of the spatial correlation either in the temporal dimension of the measurements. The goal is to reduce this redundancy by deploying fewer sensors, while ensuring high measurement accuracy and maximizing service life. The proposed method minimizes the complexity in terms of communication and calculation and maximizes the lifetime of the network based on an aggregation and consensus system to reduce the spatio-temporal dimension of the data captured and consequently the number of sensors deployed. The results show a visible performance compared to the standard method of transmission on the free platform of the COOJA/Contiki simulator allowing to simulate network connections of wireless sensors and to interact with them.

The lack of urban principles resulting from human temporal awareness has created the knowledge gap. In addition, the objective of this research was to build an urban model with spatial indicators. In order to achieve this objective, a comprehensive theoretical framework was built by adopting a descriptive- analytical approach. The novelty of the research is to find an urban model with spatial indicators that works to enhance human temporal awareness and verify this model and give it a local character by applying it to urban space in Baghdad. The research faced significant limitations represented in the theoretical framework and the practical application of the research model. As for future research, the research recommends conducting studies to find a model with spatial indicators for the humanization of urban space, including all human dimensions.

Light emitted from a source into a scene can undergo complex interactions with multiple scene surfaces of different material types before being reflected towards a detector. During this transport, every surface reflection and propagation is encoded in the properties of the photons that ultimately reach the detector, including travel time, direction, intensity, wavelength and polarization. Conventional imaging systems capture intensity by integrating over all other dimensions of the incident light into a single quantity, hiding this rich scene information in these aggregate measurements. Existing methods are capable of untangling these measurements into their spatial and temporal dimensions, fueling geometric scene understanding tasks. However, examining polarimetric material properties jointly with geometric properties is an open challenge that could enable unprecedented capabilities beyond geometric scene understanding, allowing for material-dependent scene understanding and imaging through complex transport, such as macroscopic scattering. In this work, we close this gap, and propose a computational light transport imaging method that captures the spatially- and temporally-resolved complete polarimetric response of a scene, which encodes rich material properties. Our method hinges on a novel 7D tensor theory of light transport. We discover low-rank structure in the polarimetric tensor dimension and propose a data-driven rotating ellipsometry method that learns to exploit redundancy of polarimetric structure. We instantiate our theory with two imaging prototypes: spatio-polarimetric imaging and coaxial temporal-polarimetric imaging. This allows us, for the first time, to decompose scene light transport into temporal, spatial, and complete polarimetric dimensions that unveil scene properties hidden to conventional methods. We validate the applicability of our method on diverse tasks, including shape reconstruction with subsurface scattering, seeing through scattering media, untangling multi-bounce light transport, breaking metamerism with polarization, and spatio-polarimetric decomposition of crystals.

Abstract. This study of the behaviour of rainfall dynamics at different temporal scales identifies the type of approach most suitable for transformation of rainfall data from one scale to another. Rainfall data of four different temporal scales, i.e. daily, 2-day, 4-day and 8-day, observed over a period of about 25 years at the Leaf River basin, Mississippi, USA, are analysed. The correlation dimension method is employed to identify the behaviour of rainfall dynamics. The finite correlation dimensions obtained for the four rainfall series (4.82, 5.26, 6.42 and 8.87, respectively) indicate the possible existence of chaotic behaviour in the rainfall observed at the four scales. A possible implication of this might be that the rainfall processes at these scales are related through a chaotic (scale-invariant) behaviour. However, a comparison of the correlation dimension and coefficient of variation of each of the time series reveals an inverse relationship between the two (higher dimension for lower coefficient of variation and vice versa). The presence of a large number of zeros in the higher resolution time series (that could result in an underestimation of the dimension) and the possible presence of a higher level of noise in the lower resolution time series (that could result in an overestimation of the dimension) might account for such results. In view of these problems, it is concluded that the results must be verified using other chaos identification methods and the existence of chaos must be substantiated with additional evidence. Abstract Flexibly shifting attention between stimulus dimensions (e.g., shape and color) is a central component of regulating cognition for goal-based behavior. In the present report, we examine the functional roles of different cortical regions by manipulating two demands on task switching that have been confounded in previous studies—shifting attention between visual dimensions and resolving conflict between stimulus–response representations. Dimensional shifting was manipulated by having participants shift attention between dimensions (either shape or color; dimension shift) or keeping the task-relevant dimension the same (dimension same). Conflict between stimulus–response representations was manipulated by creating conflict between response-driven associations from the previous set of trials and the stimulus–response mappings on the current set of trials (e.g., making a leftward response to a red stimulus during the previous task, but being required to make a rightward response to a red stimulus in the current task; stimulus–response conflict), or eliminating conflict by altering the features of the dimension relevant to the sorting rule (stimulus–response no-conflict). These manipulations revealed activation along a network of frontal, temporal, parietal, and occipital cortices. Specifically, dimensional shifting selectively activated frontal and parietal regions. Stimulus–response conflict, on the other hand, produced decreased activation in temporal and occipital cortices. Occipital regions demonstrated a complex pattern of activation that was sensitive to both stimulus–response conflict and dimensional attention switching. These results provide novel information regarding the distinct role that frontal cortex plays in shifting dimensional attention and posterior cortices play in resolving conflict at the stimulus level.

Belonging is a fundamentally temporal experience, yet there exists to date little research on belonging as a temporal phenomenon. This paper offers an important contribution to the literatures on belonging, time and the self by exploring how the experience of belonging is tethered to time. Focussing on the temporal dimensions of the interconnection between belonging and the self contributes to our understanding of how people experience time and construct a sense of self. The data comprise 62 accounts on belonging written by members of the Mass Observation Project’s panel of volunteer writers residing in Great Britain. Two dimensions of duration are explored: first, enduring belonging compared to fleeting belonging and second, belonging that endures ‘out of time’. In relation to the first dimension, I argue that the duration of belonging aids in constructing a coherent self over time and thus speaks to a person’s moral character. The second dimension of duration illustrates experiences of belonging that defy understandings of linear temporality and a singular self, thus demonstrating the fundamentally distributed nature of the self. Attending to the duration of belonging also adds to our empirical understanding of how time is experienced by people.

Timbre characterizes the identity of a sound source. On psychoacoustic grounds, it has been described as a multidimensional perceptual attribute of complex sounds. Using Garner's interference paradigm, we found in a previous behavioral study that three timbral dimensions exhibited interactive processing. These timbral dimensions acoustically corresponded to attack time, spectral centroid, and spectrum fine structure. Here, using event-related potentials (ERPs), we sought neurophysiological correlates of the interactive processing of these dimensions of timbre. ERPs allowed us to dissociate several levels of interaction, at both early perceptual and late stimulus identification stages of processing. The cost of filtering out an irrelevant timbral dimension was accompanied by a late negative-going activity, whereas congruency effects between timbre dimensions were associated with interactions in both early sensory and late processing stages. ERPs also helped to determine the similarities and differences in the interactions displayed by the different pairs of timbre dimensions, revealing in particular variations in the latencies at which temporal and spectral timbre dimensions can interfere with the processing of another spectral timbre dimension.

About the Flood Risk Management Plans (PGRA) the European Community (DIR. 2007/60; Regulation No. 1303/2013) introduces the need to provide an assessment of the prevention and mitigation measures for the hydraulic risk through a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA), (Cohesion Fund, 2014-2020). Indeed, the CBA helps identifying a priority ranking of structural and non-structural interventions to be implemented so to reduce the probability of flooding and the negative consequences for human health, the environment, cultural heritage and economic activities. In Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) application, the Social Discount Rate (SDR) covers a fundamental role in revealing the intergenerational concern and the willingness to pay for environmental protection and debt inheritance of a society into a specific territorial-time dimension. In particular, scientific research on the hydraulic risk area like the national and international guidelines demonstrates no agreement about the methodologies for estimating the SSS and the (SSS) value adopted in different territorial contexts. For this reason, this paper aims at investigating literature debates about SDR effectiveness on a value-based assessment and how it is applied in CBA analysis dealing with intergenerational environmental costs redistribution and human heath protections. The theoretical explanation is supported by applying CBA analysis to the real case study of Olbia city, where relevant flood events occurred in the last fifty years and, in particular, the last one in 2013, causing significant losses in economic welfare and human lives. First results from the empirical application show how the choice of the SSS and the time-frame of the interventions have a strong impact on the effectiveness of the strategic decisions from a social point of view. In particular, these two factors' influence is more evident in long-term scenarios due to intertemporal prices' cumulative and multiplicative effects, which reduce future values such as environmental and social benefits if discounted to date. Nell’ambito dei Piani di Gestione del Rischio Alluvioni (PGRA), la Comunità Europea (Dir. 2007/60; Regulation No. 1303/2013) ha introdotto la necessità della valutazione delle misure di prevenzione del rischio alluvioni sulla base di una Analisi Benefici-Costi (ACB), al fine di individuare una graduatoria di priorità degli interventi strutturali e non strutturali da attuarsi per ridurre la probabilità di inondazione e le conseguenze negative per la salute umana, l’ambiente, il patrimonio culturale e le attività economiche. Rispetto all’applicazione dell’ACB, la stima del Saggio Sociale di Sconto (SSS) rappresenta uno degli aspetti più critici per esprimere il valore delle preferenze intertemporali, la disponibilità a pagare per la tutela dell’ambiente e la qualità della vita, nonché il peso attribuito all'eredità del debito futuro intergenerazionale in una specifica dimensione spazio-temporale. In particolare, le applicazioni al settore del rischio idraulico così come le linee guida nazionali e internazionali mostrano come non vi sia ancora una convergenza di opinioni sulle metodologie da applicare per la stima del SSS e sul valore da adottare in differenti contesti territoriali. A partire da un’analisi della letteratura sul ruolo del SSS nelle ACB applicate al settore della prevenzione del rischio idraulico, il presente articolo propone un quadro ampio di casi di studio in differenti contesti geografici, che sottopone a una riflessione critica in merito agli aspetti teorici e operativi. Le riflessioni teoriche sono poi sperimentate attraverso un’applicazione dell’ACB alla città di Olbia, dove si sono verificate grandi alluvioni negli ultimi cinquant'anni, l'ultima delle quali nel 2013, che hanno causato perdite significative in termini di benessere economico e vite umane. I primi risultati ottenuti mostrano come la scelta del SSS, così come la temporalizzazione degli interventi, sia determinante per l’efficacia delle scelte dal punto di vista sociale, soprattutto in scenari di lungo periodo, a causa dell’effetto cumulato e moltiplicativo dei prezzi intertemporali che porta a ridurre i valori futuri, quali per esempio i benefici ambientali e sociali, se scontati all’attualità.

The present research concentrated on mapping the national and international production on the Psychodynamics of Work, by analysing its dimensions and trends. The research dwelt on a temporal cut that covers from 1970 to 2018, and used the Web of Science database, alongside the VOSviewer software, with the objective of identifying clusters. The results show only 49 identified works. By analyzing the theoretical findings, a framework in which the Psychodynamics of Work is subdivided into two major dimensions, context and content, was designed. The context dimension involved work conditions, social relations, and organization. The content dimension covered issues like pleasure and suffering, health and sickness, confrontation strategies, psychic load, subjective mobilization, and recognition, among others.

Understanding questions and finding clues for answers are the key for video question answering. Compared with image question answering, video question answering (Video QA) requires to find the clues accurately on both spatial and temporal dimension simultaneously, and thus is more challenging. However, the relationship between spatio-temporal information and question still has not been well utilized in most existing methods for Video QA. To tackle this problem, we propose a Question-Guided Spatio-Temporal Contextual Attention Network (QueST) method. In QueST, we divide the semantic features generated from question into two separate parts: the spatial part and the temporal part, respectively guiding the process of constructing the contextual attention on spatial and temporal dimension. Under the guidance of the corresponding contextual attention, visual features can be better exploited on both spatial and temporal dimensions. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, experiments are conducted on TGIF-QA dataset, MSRVTT-QA dataset and MSVD-QA dataset. Experimental results and comparisons with the state-of-the-art methods have shown that our method can achieve superior performance.

We propose a novel dimensional analysis approach to employing meta information in order to find the relationships within the unstructured or semi-structured document/passages for improving genomics information retrieval performance. First, we make use of the auxiliary information as three basic dimensions, namely "temporal", "journal", and "author". The reference section is treated as a commensurable quantity of the three basic dimensions. Then, the sample space and subspaces are built up and a set of events are defined to meet the basic requirement of dimensional homogeneity to be commensurable quantities. After that, the classic graph analysis algorithm in the Web environments is applied on each dimension respectively to calculate the importance of each dimension. Finally, we integrate all the dimension networks and re-rank the outputs for evaluation. Our experimental results show the proposed approach is superior and promising.

The design of a data warehouse system deals with tasks such as data source administration, ETL processing, multidimensional modelling, data mart specification, and end-user tool development. In the last decade, numerous techniques have been presented to cover all the aspects of DW. However, none of these techniques stated the recent necessities of DW like visualization, temporal dimensions, record keeping, and so on. To overcome these issues, this paper proposes a UML based DW with temporal dimensions. This framework designs time-dependent DW that allows end-users to store history of variations for long term. Besides, it authorizes to visualize the business goals of organizations in the form of attribute tree via UML, which is designed after receiving user necessities and later reconciling with temporal variables. The implementation of proposed technique is detailed with university education database for quality improvement. The proposed technique is found to be useful in terms of temporal dimension, long-term record keeping, and easy to make decision goals through attribute trees.

On the basis of method of theory of chaos the analysis of temporal rows of concentrations of dioxide of sulphur is executed in Gdynia and Sopot (Gdansk region, Poland) and the spectrum of cross-correlation dimensions, confirmative the presence of corresponding chaos, is expected. The got numeral estimations comport with data on the spectrum of dimensions of Lyapunov, dimension of Kaplan-York and entropy of Kolmogorov. The estimation of limit of predictability of method of short-term prognosis is given.

Abstract For the problem of low prediction accuracy caused by traditional neural network gas concentration prediction models which did not consider temporal and spatial characteristics of gas data, this paper proposed a Spatial-Temporal graph neural network gas prediction model based on Spatial-Temporal data. Its essence was the integration of graph convolutional network and WaveNet network. In spatial dimension, graph convolutional network was used to aggregate the information of neighbor nodes, and adaptively adjusts the spatial association strength of each node according to the attention mechanism to captured the spatial characteristics of gas data. In temporal dimension, WaveNet network model was introduced, Dilated Causal Convolution was used to extract the temporal characteristics of gas data on temporal dimensions. According to the distance between gas sensors in the mine, the gas data spatial structure was constructed by Thresholded Gaussian kernel function. Experiment with the measured gas temporal and spatial data, using Mean Absolute Error (MAE) as an indicator of predictive accuracy. The experimental results show that the prediction model mentioned in this paper is significantly improved compared with the prediction accuracy of other predictive models.

In Tissawewa, a tropical reservoir, the size-specific resource use of the 10 most important fish species was determined along three dimensions: trophic, spatial, and temporal. During this study, a drought occurred distinguishing two periods before and after the drought that differed markedly in availability of resources and fish biomass. In this study, differences in resource use between the two periods are presented together with their consequence on the partitioning of resources. A different approach is introduced into the calculation of niche breadth and niche overlap incorporating size-specific differences in resource use and interactions between resource dimensions. Comparison with conventional measures of niche breadth and niche overlap shows that conventional measures often misrepresent interactions between species. Condition and biomass were used as indicators of a species' fitness, and it is shown that fitness of most species is governed by the availability of resources and partitioning of these resources is an important mechanism allowing potential competitors to coexist. Resource partitioning along the trophic dimension was more important than along the spatial or temporal dimension.
