Résumé :
The presented paper scientifically discusses the progressive diagnostics of electrical drives in robots with sensor support. The AI (artificial intelligence) model proposed by the authors contains the technical conditions of fuzzy inference rule descriptions for the identification of a robot drive’s technical condition and a source for the description of linguistic variables. The parameter of drive diagnostics for a robotized workplace that is proposed here is original and composed of the sum of vibration acceleration amplitudes ranging from a frequency of 6.3 Hz to 1250 Hz of a one-third-octave filter. Models of systems for the diagnostics of mechatronic objects in the robotized workplace are developed based on examples of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine diagnostics and mechatronic modules based on the fuzzy inference system, concluding with a solved example of the multi-criteria optimization of diagnostic systems. Algorithms for CNC machine diagnostics are implemented and intended only for research into precisely determined procedures for monitoring the lifetime of the mentioned mechatronic systems. Sensors for measuring the diagnostic parameters of CNC machines according to precisely determined measuring chains, together with schemes of hardware diagnostics for mechatronic systems are proposed.

Résumé :
Abstract Introduction Amplicon deep-sequencing using second-generation sequencing technology is an innovative molecular diagnostic technique and enables a highly-sensitive detection of mutations. As an international consortium we had investigated previously the robustness, precision, and reproducibility of 454 amplicon next-generation sequencing (NGS) across 10 laboratories from 8 countries (Leukemia, 2011;25:1840-8). Aims In Phase II of the study, we established distinct working groups for various hematological malignancies, i.e. acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN), and multiple myeloma. Currently, 27 laboratories from 13 countries are part of this research consortium. In total, 74 gene targets were selected by the working groups and amplicons were developed for a NGS deep-sequencing assay (454 Life Sciences, Branford, CT). A data analysis pipeline was developed to standardize mutation interpretation both for accessing raw data (Roche Amplicon Variant Analyzer, 454 Life Sciences) and variant interpretation (Sequence Pilot, JSI Medical Systems, Kippenheim, Germany). Results We will report on the design, standardization, quality control aspects, landscape of mutations, as well as the prognostic and predictive utility of this assay in a cohort of 8,867 cases. Overall, 1,146 primer sequences were designed and tested. In detail, for example in AML, 924 cases had been screened for CEBPA mutations. RUNX1 mutations were analyzed in 1,888 cases applying the deep-sequencing read counts to study the stability of such mutations at relapse and their utility as a biomarker to detect residual disease. Analyses of DNMT3A (n=1,041) were focused to perform landscape investigations and to address the prognostic relevance. Additionally, this working group is focusing on TET2, ASXL1, and TP53 analyses. A novel prognostic model is being developed allowing stratification of AML into prognostic subgroups based on molecular markers only. In ALL, 1,124 pediatric and adult cases have been screened, including 763 assays for TP53 mutations both at diagnosis and relapse of ALL. Pediatric and adult leukemia expert labs developed additional content to study the mutation incidence of other B and T lineage markers such as IKZF1, JAK2, IL7R, PAX5, EP300, LEF1, CRLF2, PHF6, WT1, JAK1, PTEN, AKT1, IL7R, NOTCH1, CREBBP, or FBXW7. Further, the molecular landscape of CLL is changing rapidly. As such, a separate working group focused on analyses including NOTCH1, SF3B1, MYD88, XPO1, FBXW7 and BIRC3. Currently, 922 cases were screened to investigate the range of mutational burden of NOTCH1 mutations for their prognostic relevance. In MDS, RUNX1 mutation analyses were performed in 977 cases. The prognostic relevance of TP53 mutations in MDS was assessed in additional 327 cases, including isolated deletions of chromosome 5q. Next, content was developed targeting genes of the cellular splicing component, e.g. SF3B1, SRSF2, U2AF1, and ZRSR2. In BCR-ABL1-negative MPN, nine genes of interest (JAK2, MPL, TET2, CBL, KRAS, EZH2, IDH1, IDH2, ASXL1) have been analyzed in a cohort of 155 primary myelofibrosis cases searching for novel somatic mutations and addressing their relevance for disease progression and leukemia transformation. Moreover, an assay was developed and applied to CMML cases allowing the simultaneous analysis of 25 leukemia-associated target genes in a single sequencing run using just 20 ng of starting DNA. Finally, nine laboratories are studying CML, applying ultra-deep sequencing of the BCR-ABL1 tyrosine kinase domain. Analyses were performed on 615 cases investigating the dynamics of expansion of mutated clones under various tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapies. Conclusion Molecular characterization of hematological malignancies today requires high diagnostic sensitivity and specificity. As part of the IRON-II study, a network of laboratories analyzed a variety of disease entities applying amplicon-based NGS assays. Importantly, the consortium not only standardized assay design for disease-specific panels, but also achieved consensus on a common data analysis pipeline for mutation interpretation. Distinct working groups have been forged to address scientific tasks and in total 8,867 cases had been analyzed thus far. Résumé :
The effectiveness of the bank's management depends on the information support quality and appropriate diagnostics of the bank's work with its clients, particularly corporate ones. The aim of this investigation is to develop promising tools for diagnostics of the operation of commercial banks serving corporate clients in the regional market. The competitiveness indicator is proposed in this paper as a commercial bank operation diagnostic tool This indicator gives an opportunity to evaluate the bank operation in comparison with its competitors due to the level of satisfaction with the quality of the offered services and the efficiency of its business activities by comparing the bank's competitive position with respect to its competitors. The method of banking services competitiveness determination as a tool of the diagnostics of work efficiency of the third group of commercial banks (PJSC «Metabank», PJSC «Motorbank» and CB «Industrialbank») serving corporate clients in the Zaporizhzhya region market is applied in the paper. The proposed tool for diagnostics of bank efficiency with corporate clients on the basis of determining the integral indicator of banking services competitiveness makes it possible to determine the directions of the increase of its efficiency. The methodology involves step-by-step determination of the average integral evaluation of quality and value indicators of providing services to corporate clients. At the first stage, the selection of quality and cost indicators of providing services to corporate clients and their rationing is performed using the «desirability function» or relatively to the reference value. At the next stage, the weights are calculated according to quality and cost indicators. The offered tool of bank operation efficiency diagnostics makes it possible to reveal directions of the improvement of PJSC «Metabank» work with corporate clients in the regional market, such as: organization of services, improvement of offered services quality and service convenience; increasing the number of branches; improving information support, particularly by improving the staff work with clients concerning professional advice support and by implementing online calculator for services cost determination.

Résumé :
Modern models of military equipment that are in the arsenal of the Russian Aerospace Forces are technical complexes and contain a significant amount of electronic equipment. The most critical operation in recovering failures is technical diagnostics, the implementation of which is aimed at determining the likely places and causes of malfunctions. Information support for technical diagnostics is currently organized on the basis of a paper set of operational documentation, the use of which is associated with significant unproductive time delays. At the same time, well-known automation systems for information support of technical diagnostics are focused on providing diagnostic information about failures in an “implicit” form, i.e. reflect information on the reference state of the equipment, and do not directly automate the procedure for determining the cause of a malfunction by its diagnostic features. The use of the diagnostic model, reflecting the interconnection of the signs and causes of malfunctions of electronic equipment, will increase the level of automation of information support for technical diagnostics by constructing an interactive diagnostic system with an interface that provides query input and response generation in natural language constructions. The aim of the work is to create a method for formalized conceptual presentation of faults in the form of an explicit diagnostic frame model, which acts as an information resource of the dialogue diagnostic system, which can significantly reduce the time required to determine the probable places and causes of malfunctions of electronic equipment of complex technical complexes and systems. The novelty of the proposed approach to the conceptual formalization of malfunctions of electronic equipment is that it allows you to directly operate on the terms and concepts of the subject area of technical diagnostics in natural language constructions, without the need for their transformation into mathematical notations, representing signs of malfunctions in information systems of a traditional structure. The presentation of faults, made on the basis of the proposed approach, can act as the main resource of the automated system of information support for technical diagnostics, functioning on the principle of "question-answer" in a naturally similar language. The construction of an information interface that ensures the connection of the presented diagnostic model with the service personnel by means of requests and answers in a naturally-similar language, provides a significant reduction in the time of technical diagnostics, which reduces the overall recovery time of complex technical complexes and systems.

Résumé :
Introduction. Mineral fertilizers essential for intensive crop production technologies are an expensive and environmentally unsafe resource polluting the soil and agricultural products when applied in excess. The purpose of the research is instrumental and methodological support for modern functional diagnostics of nutritional requirements of plants, which is aimed at activating the photosynthesis process. Materials and Methods. It is proposed, for identifying nutritional requirements of plants to replace numerous intermediate plastic test tubes with a mixture of permanent components (sodium chloride, chloroplast suspension and Tillmans’ paint) for the diagnostic solution variants by a separate elastic light-protective container. A homogeneous mixture in a separate container eliminates the error in the concentration of solution components, which accompanies the repeated formation of mixtures in intermediate test tubes. This made it possible to reduce a number of repeated operations of filling intermediate test tubes with pipette dispensers for each tested mixture of elements. The studies were carried out in 2021–2022 using mechanical pipette dispensers Lenpipet Thermo Fisher Scientific (Finland) – 10 ml, Lenpipet Color – 100 μl and Lenpipet Color – 200 μl. Their error was determined on a VK-600 electronic balance. Results. The use of innovation increased the reliability of diagnostic data due to a 8.6% average reduction of error in the concentration of components in the mixture solution. In addition, the time spent on performing diagnostics decreased by 1.7 times that, under the conditions of a limited lifetime of chloroplasts, had a favorable effect on obtaining reliable data. Discussion and Conclusion. Reliable diagnostic data on nutritional requirements of plants will save fertilizer resources and improve the quality of agricultural production free from excessive nutrients.

Résumé :
Intelligent diagnostics tool for detecting damaged bevel gears was developed based on wavelet support vector machine (WSVM). In this technique, the existing method of SVM was modified by introducing Haar wavelet function as kernel for mapping input data into feature space. The developed method was experimentally evaluated by vibration data measured from test rig machinery fault simulator (MFS). There were four conditions of gears namely normal, worn, teeth defect and one missing-teeth which has been experimented. Statistical features were then calculated from vibration signals and they were employed as input data for training WSVM. Fault diagnostics of bevel gear was performed by executing classification task in trained WSVM. The accuracy of fault diagnostics were evaluated by testing procedure through vibration data acquired from test rig. The results show that the proposed system gives plausible performance in fault diagnostics based on experimental work.

Résumé :
Access to quality-assured, accurate diagnostics is critical to ensure that the 2021–2030 neglected tropical disease (NTD) road map targets can be achieved. Currently, however, there is limited regulatory oversight and few quality assurance mechanisms for NTD diagnostic tools. In attempting to address such challenges and the changing environment in regulatory requirements for diagnostics, a landscape analysis was conducted, to better understand the availability of NTD diagnostics and inform future regulatory frameworks. The list of commercially available diagnostics was compiled from various sources, including WHO guidance, national guidelines for case detection and management, diagnostic target product profiles and the published literature. The inventory was analyzed according to diagnostic type, intended use, regulatory status, and risk classification. To estimate the global need and size of the market for each type of diagnostic, annual procurement data were collected from WHO, procurement agencies, NGOs and international organizations, where available and global disease prevalence. Expert interviews were also conducted to ensure a better understanding of how diagnostics are procured and used. Of 125 diagnostic tools included in this analysis, rapid diagnostic tools accounted for 33% of diagnostics used for NTDs and very few diagnostics had been subjected to regulatory assessment. The number of tests needed for each disease was less than 1 million units per annum, except in the case of two diseases, suggesting limited commercial value. Despite the nature of the market, and presumed insufficient return on commercial investment, acceptable levels of assurance on performance, quality and safety of diagnostics are still required. Priority actions include setting up an agile, interim, stepwise risk assessment mechanism, in particular for diagnostics of lower risk, in order to support national NTD programmes and their partners with the selection and procurement of the diagnostics needed to control, eliminate and eradicate NTDs.

Résumé :
Introduction. Domestic and foreign works on the milling of complex-profile surfaces with a ball-end tool were analyzed. Methods of surface quality control and ways to provide amplitude parameters of roughness, based on research data and field experiments, were considered. Theoretical provisions on the determination of cutting forces and the results of vibroacoustic diagnostics were presented.Materials and Methods. The methods of correlation analysis, comparison and generalization of the results were applied. The data were calculated at different tool angles, taking into account the instantaneous cutting forces, and were fixed in the range of values of the variable feed per tooth (fz) and the angle of inclination of the surface (γ). The vibroacoustic diagnostic data and theoretical data of the presented model at different tool inclination angles were verified by experiment. Consequently, such methods can be used to predict surface roughness parameters.Results. The relationship between cutting forces, tool inclination angle, and vibroacoustic diagnostics data was found. A model of the cutting force and tool displacements was formulated taking into account the inclination of the surface. The optimal range of the inclination angle of the tool to the surface to be machined, at which the minimum values of the amplitude parameters of roughness were achieved, was determined. The sound vibrations obtained empirically, presented in spectral and wave forms, were in good agreement with data from other sources. This allowed us to conclude about the feasibility of forecasting and monitoring roughness parameters in real time through acoustics.Discussion and Conclusions. It was established that the growth of forces in the direction ae(X) and fz(Y) was observed at γ > 40°. This was due to the distribution of the components of the cutting force along the cutting edge and depended on the inclination of the surface. The amplitude parameters decreased when the angle increased from 10 to 40 degrees. The found interrelations of force analysis, processing directions, and vibroacoustic diagnostics have validated the use of vibroacoustic diagnostics to predict surface roughness. Acoustic diagnostics, regardless of the layout of technological equipment, enables to quickly adjust the sound device and assess the impact of cutting modes on roughness parameters.

Abstract. The CFMIP Diagnostic Codes Catalogue assembles cloud metrics, diagnostics and methodologies, together with programs to diagnose them from general circulation model (GCM) outputs written by various members of the CFMIP community. This aims to facilitate use of the diagnostics by the wider community studying climate and climate change. This paper describes the diagnostics and metrics which are currently in the catalogue, together with examples of their application to model evaluation studies and a summary of some of the insights these diagnostics have provided into the main shortcomings in current GCMs. Analysis of outputs from CFMIP and CMIP6 experiments will also be facilitated by the sharing of diagnostic codes via this catalogue.Any code which implements diagnostics relevant to analysing clouds – including cloud–circulation interactions and the contribution of clouds to estimates of climate sensitivity in models – and which is documented in peer-reviewed studies, can be included in the catalogue. We very much welcome additional contributions to further support community analysis of CMIP6 outputs.

Résumé :
Restoration of the serviceable state of complex technical systems is associated with technical diagnostics, the purpose of which is to determine the locations and causes of the malfunction. Improving the efficiency of diagnostics can be achieved through the use of automated information support tools that provide maintenance personnel with the required diagnostic information based on the generated request. The use of language query tools in systems of this type allows service personnel to formulate query conditions more precisely and specifically, but such tools require the development of additional models for interpreting conditions presented in natural language constructs. The purpose of the work is to develop a formal model that reflects the structure and rules for the formation of language queries in which diagnostic features are determined. The goal is achieved by consistently describing the procedures that determine the lexical, syntactic and semantic rules for analyzing language requests of service personnel to an automated information support system. The given sequence of language analysis procedures provides for the selection in the language requests of the service personnel of a formal set of diagnostic features that are used to form a formal request to an information source of information about faults in electronic equipment. It is shown that the machine parsing of such queries, which are called descriptive diagnostic queries in this work, is expedient to be performed by identifying the correspondence of language constructions to a set of formal rules determined by the grammar of a natural-like language. The studies carried out confirm the possibility and create conditions for the inclusion of inquiry-response means into automated information support systems for technical diagnostics and repair, which ensure the formation of probable places and causes of faults in radio electronic equipment at the request of the service personnel, made in the designs of the natural (Russian) language. The introduction of such a mechanism into automated systems will reduce the number of non-productive losses that are not directly related to diagnostics, which will have a positive effect on the time indicators of the restoration of complex technical complexes.

Résumé :
Purpose: Breast cancer diagnostics have the ability to predict disease recurrence and the benefit of chemotherapy. This study measures the use of a diagnostic assay, Oncotype DX, when embedded in a breast cancer decision support algorithm and, on the basis of the assay results, the use of chemotherapy in the adjuvant setting. Methods: UPMC CancerCenter retrospectively reviewed patients with estrogen receptor–positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)Neu–negative disease with zero to three positive nodes navigated in the Via Pathways decision support portal during a 12-month period. The breast algorithm prompted input of the assay recurrence score (RS) and then recommended hormonal therapy alone (HT) for low RS, or chemotherapy followed by HT for high RS. The patient’s RS was correlated with the treatment decision. Results: During this time period, 643 patients had ER-positive, HER2Neu-negative disease with zero to three positive nodes. Of those, 596 (92.7%) had diagnostic testing to determine chemotherapy plus HT versus HT alone, and 47 had chemotherapy followed by HT without an RS. For node-negative patients classified with low or high RS, pathway treatment adherence rates were 99.7% and 96.6%, respectively; node-positive patients had 95.7% and 87.5% adherence rates, respectively. Conclusion: This analysis demonstrates the use of a clinical pathway to measure the adoption of a diagnostic test, the Oncotype DX breast assay, and the use of the appropriate therapy on the basis of the RS. As more diagnostics are established to aid in the personalized treatment of diseases, pathways may be important in maintaining clinician awareness of the appropriate disease presentations where these tests should be used, measuring usage of these tests, and tracking the treatment decisions on the basis of test results.

Résumé :
The article discusses an approach to technical diagnostics of secondary power supplies for communication facilities. Diagnostics is carried out during the current repair. This takes into account the features of the object being diagnosed, which affect the process of searching for defects. The purpose of the article is to analyze possible options for the development of diagnostic support for secondary power supplies. This takes into account the metrological reliability of measuring equipment. The probability of correct diagnosis is also calculated when searching for defects during routine repairs. Practically implemented recommendations for ensuring the required values of the indicators of the maintainability of communication facilities are substantiated. The possibility and expediency of using effective methods for diagnostics of secondary power supplies of communication facilities, which consider the sources as objects with many inputs, are shown. This allows the design to take into account the requirements for the maintainability of the product. During routine repairs, the time needed to search for defects is minimized. This is done through a rational choice of diagnostic procedures. When choosing, design features and conditions for restoring performance are taken into account. The proposed block diagram of the algorithm for choosing a diagnostic option minimizes the average recovery time of an object. A specific example of using the results obtained in the development of a conditional diagnostic algorithm for the power supply unit of the exciter and the radio receiver of an average power radio station is given. It is advisable to use the results obtained in the development of diagnostic support for promising communication facilities or in the improvement of existing communication facilities without additional costs.

Résumé :
As lymphatic filariasis (LF) programs move closer to established targets for validation elimination of LF as a public health problem, diagnostic tools capable of supporting the needs of the programs are critical for success. Known limitations of existing diagnostic tools make it challenging to have confidence that program endpoints have been achieved. In 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) established a Diagnostic Technical Advisory Group (DTAG) for Neglected Tropical Diseases tasked with prioritizing diagnostic needs including defining use-cases and target product profiles (TPPs) for needed tools. Subsequently, disease-specific DTAG subgroups, including one focused on LF, were established to develop TPPs and use-case analyses to be used by product developers. Here, we describe the development of two priority TPPs for LF diagnostics needed for making decisions for stopping mass drug administration (MDA) of a triple drug regimen and surveillance. Utilizing the WHO core TPP development process as the framework, the LF subgroup convened to discuss and determine attributes required for each use case. TPPs considered the following parameters: product use, design, performance, product configuration and cost, and access and equity. Version 1.0 TPPs for two use cases were published by WHO on 12 March 2021 within the WHO Global Observatory on Health Research and Development. A common TPP characteristic that emerged in both use cases was the need to identify new biomarkers that would allow for greater precision in program delivery. As LF diagnostic tests are rarely used for individual clinical diagnosis, it became apparent that reliance on population-based surveys for decision making requires consideration of test performance in the context of such surveys. In low prevalence settings, the number of false positive test results may lead to unnecessary continuation or resumption of MDA, thus wasting valuable resources and time. Therefore, highly specific diagnostic tools are paramount when used to measure low thresholds. The TPP process brought to the forefront the importance of linking use case, program platform and diagnostic performance characteristics when defining required criteria for diagnostic tools.

Résumé :
Background Yaws is targeted for eradication by 2030, using a strategy based on mass drug administration (MDA) with azithromycin. New diagnostics are needed to aid eradication. Serology is currently the mainstay for yaws diagnosis; however, inaccuracies associated with current serological tests makes it difficult to fully assess the need for and impact of eradication campaigns using these tools. Under the recommendation of the WHO Diagnostic Technical Advisory Group (DTAG) for Neglected Tropical Diseases(NTDs), a working group was assembled and tasked with agreeing on priority use cases for developing target product profiles (TPPs) for new diagnostics tools. Methodology and principal findings The working group convened three times and established two use cases: identifying a single case of yaws and detecting azithromycin resistance. One subgroup assessed the current diagnostic landscape for yaws and a second subgroup determined the test requirements for both use cases. Draft TPPs were sent out for input from stakeholders and experts. Both TPPs considered the following parameters: product use, design, performance, configuration, cost, access and equity. To identify a single case of yaws, the test should be able to detect an analyte which confirms an active infection with at least 95% sensitivity and 99.9% specificity. The high specificity was deemed important to avoid a high false positive rate which could result in unnecessary continuation or initiation of MDA campaigns. If used in settings where the number of suspected cases is low, further testing could be considered to compensate for imperfect sensitivity and to improve specificity. The test to detect azithromycin resistance should be able to detect known genetic resistance mutations with a minimum sensitivity and specificity of 95%, with the caveat that all patients with suspected treatment failure should be treated as having resistant yaws and offered alternative treatment. Conclusions The TPPs developed will provide test developers with guidance to ensure that novel diagnostic tests meet identified public health needs.

Background Scabies was added to the WHO NTD portfolio in 2017 and targets for the control of scabies were included in the 2021–2030 WHO NTD roadmap. A major component of scabies control efforts a strategy based on mass drug administration (MDA) with ivermectin. Currently diagnosis of scabies relies on clinical examination with a limited role for diagnostic testing. Under the recommendation of the WHO Diagnostic Technical Advisory Group (DTAG) for Neglected Tropical Diseases, a working group was assembled and tasked with agreeing on priority use cases for and developing target product profiles (TPPs) for new diagnostics tools for scabies. Methodology and principal findings The working group convened three times and established two use cases: establishing if the 10% threshold for mass drug administration had been reached and if the 2% threshold for stopping mass drug administration has been achieved. One subgroup assessed the current diagnostic landscape for scabies and a second subgroup determined the test requirements for both use cases. Draft TPPs were sent out for input from stakeholders and experts. Both TPPs considered the following parameters: product use, design, performance, configuration, cost, access and equity. The group considered the use of the tests as a single step process or as part of a two step process following initial clinical examination. When used a single step test (the ideal scenario) for starting MDA a new diagnostic required a sensitivity of ≥92% and a specificity of ≥98%. When used a single step test (the ideal scenario) for stopping MDA a new diagnostic required a sensitivity of ≥80% and a specificity of ≥99%. Conclusions The TPPs developed will provide test developers with guidance to ensure that novel diagnostic tests meet identified public health needs.

Résumé :
We evaluate two diagnostic tools used to determine if counterfactual analysis requires extrapolation. Counterfactuals based on extrapolation are model dependent and might not support empirically valid inferences. The diagnostics help researchers identify those counterfactual “what if” questions that are empirically plausible. We show, through simple Monte Carlo experiments, that these diagnostics will often detect extrapolation, suggesting that there is a risk of biased counterfactual inference when there is no such risk of extrapolation bias in the data. This is because the diagnostics are affected by what we call the n/k problem: as the number of data points relative to the number of explanatory variables decreases, the diagnostics are more likely to detect the risk of extrapolation bias even when such risk does not exist. We conclude that the diagnostics provide too severe a test for many data sets used in political science.

Résumé :
SUMMARYResearch and innovation in the diagnosis of infectious and parasitic diseases has led to the development of several promising diagnostic tools, for example in malaria there is extensive literature concerning the use of rapid diagnostic tests. This means policymakers in many low and middle income countries need to make difficult decisions about which of the recommended tools and approaches to implement and scale-up. The test characteristics (e.g. sensitivity and specificity) of the tools alone are not a sufficient basis on which to make these decisions as policymakers need to also consider the best combination of tools, whether the new tools should complement or replace existing diagnostics and who should be tested. Diagnostic strategies need dovetailing to different epidemiology and structural resource constraints (e.g. existing diagnostic pathways, human resources and laboratory capacity). We propose operational modelling to assist with these complex decisions. Projections of patient, health system and cost impacts are essential and operational modelling of the relevant elements of the health system could provide these projections and support rational decisions. We demonstrate how the technique of operational modelling applied in the developing world to support decisions on diagnostics for tuberculosis, could in a parallel way, provide useful insights to support implementation of appropriate diagnostic innovations for parasitic diseases.

The online community resource Phytophthora database (PD) was developed to support accurate and rapid identification of Phytophthora and to help characterize and catalog the diversity and evolutionary relationships within the genus. Since its release in 2008, the sequence database has grown to cover 1 to 12 loci for ≈2,600 isolates (representing 138 described and provisional species). Sequences of multiple mitochondrial loci were added to complement nuclear loci-based phylogenetic analyses and diagnostic tool development. Key characteristics of most newly described and provisional species have been summarized. Other additions to improve the PD functionality include: (i) geographic information system tools that enable users to visualize the geographic origins of chosen isolates on a global-scale map, (ii) a tool for comparing genetic similarity between isolates via microsatellite markers to support population genetic studies, (iii) a comprehensive review of molecular diagnostics tools and relevant references, (iv) sequence alignments used to develop polymerase chain reaction-based diagnostics tools to support their utilization and new diagnostic tool development, and (v) an online community forum for sharing and preserving experience and knowledge accumulated in the global Phytophthora community. In this paper we present a novel support vector machine (SVM) based framework for prognosis and diagnosis. We apply the framework to sparse physics data sets, although the method can easily be extended to other domains. Experiments in applied fields, such as experimental physics, are often complicated and expensive. As a result, experimentalists are unable to conduct as many experiments as they would like, leading to very unbalanced data sets that can be dense in one dimension and very sparse in others. Our method predicts the data values along the sparse dimension providing more information to researchers. Often experiments deviate from expectations due to small misalignments in initial parameters. Our method detects these outlier experiments.

Résumé :
In modern laboratory diagnostics, the flow of information in electronic form is common, more and more extensive, and complicated. For the flow of this information to be efficient and complete, it should include medical diagnostic laboratories and their complete environment, including nationwide healthcare information systems. Optimizing the electronic flow of information requires standardization of terminology and coding of laboratory procedures and the creation of IT infrastructure, which, with institutional support, will ensure adequate access to laboratory diagnostic data in the healthcare system. In this article, we present a system proposal prepared by the Section for Standardization of Information in Laboratory Medicine of the PSLD in cooperation with experts from other bodies, the purpose of which would be to systematize, improve the quality and certainty of processing information on laboratory diagnostics. The proposed System of Standardization of Information in Laboratory Diagnostics (SSILD) should ultimately allow for the unambiguity of the names and codes of procedures using the LOINC® terminology, certainty as to the key features of the procedures, certainty as to the reference intervals/decision values, access to information necessary for the interpretation of the result and clarity as to whether the procedures are covered by the regulation of the guaranteed benefits basket.

Résumé :
CNC machines, including multi-purpose machines (product processing centers), have been widely used in connection with the creation of flexible production systems and significant progress in developing and improving the reliability of multi-purpose freely programmable, multiprocessor and small numerical program control devices (CNC) , so the development of algorithmic software for the practical implementation of the test and diagnostic complex and the use of diagnostic systems as a means of automation of information technology is one of the general directions of improving the efficiency of machine-building enterprises. However, in order to make decisions about the scope, stages and feasibility of using a particular diagnostic system for the selected object of study at a particular enterprise, it is necessary to assess its expected benefits. The use of diagnostics during operation of the machine imposes its influence on the means and methods of diagnosis, which should be convenient for use in the factory, to ensure the diagnosis process in the shortest time, to have reliable readings, especially with high requirements for product reliability. and in some cases without disrupting the mechanism, to be economically feasible. The design of the machine is adapted to the needs of diagnostics and must: have built-in devices that evaluate its parameters (pressure in the hydraulic system, temperature of energy-intensive units, accuracy of machining, speed); periodically connect to special equipment that will diagnose the basic parameters of the machine and provide data on its condition. The parameters of the technical condition (diagnostic features), which can be judged on the OD and which are diagnosed during operation of the machine, are: machine parameters that directly characterize its efficiency; damage and defects that occur during operation and lead or may lead to failure; side effects that are functionally or stochastically related to the initial parameters.
