Résumé :
Motors are widely employed in mechatronic systems, especially in precision multiple degrees of freedom motion systems. In most applications, the dynamic equation between the motor instruction and the actual driving force is simplified as a constant. Subsequently, the static decoupling method can be utilized to design the feedback controller. However, in high-precision mechatronic systems, motor dynamics cannot be neglected, and the static decoupling performance is compromised due to discrepancies between motors. In this paper, a dynamic decoupling method is developed to improve the decoupling performance of the multiple-input multiple-output systems. The effects of transmission delays, motor dynamics, and discrepancies between different motors are taken into consideration in the dynamic decoupling method. Furthermore, a data-driven optimization method is developed to estimate the parameters of the dynamic decoupling controller. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method are demonstrated through numerical simulations. The experimental results show that the dynamic decoupling control method can achieve a 97.75% performance improvement at least compared to the static decoupling control method.

Résumé :
Although economic growth brings abundant material wealth, it is also associated with serious PM2.5 pollution. Decoupling PM2.5 emissions from economic development is important for China’s long-term sustainable development. In this paper, the generalized Divisia index method (GDIM) is extended by introducing innovation indicators to investigate the main drivers of PM2.5 pollution in China and its four subregions from 2008 to 2017. Afterwards, a GDIM-based decoupling index is developed to examine the decoupling states between PM2.5 emissions and economic growth and to identify the main factors leading to decoupling. The obtained results show that: (1) Innovation input scale and GDP are the main drivers for increases in PM2.5 emissions, while innovation input PM2.5 intensity, emission intensity, and emission coefficient are the main reasons for reductions in PM2.5 pollution. (2) China and its four subregions show general upward trends in the decoupling index, and their decoupling states turn from weak decoupling to strong decoupling. (3) Innovation input PM2.5 intensity, emission intensity, and emission coefficient contribute largely to the decoupling of PM2.5 emissions. Overall, this paper provides valuable information for mitigating haze pollution.

Résumé :
Abstract Economic growth and energy consumed is critical for sustainable global development. In this paper, an extended Vector version of the commonly used Decoupling Index De of energy elasticity to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Decoupling Ratio of Energy Intensity of GDP are used to investigate decoupling phenomenon for the period 1990 to 2014 in the main regions of the World. Using Vector properties, this study overcomes some well-known deficiencies of Energy to Growth elasticity Decoupling Index and suggests the Decoupling Angle as a suitable indicator when describing decoupling. The relationships with aggregate and per capita indicators are also examined. A general finding was that in emerging economies, even when moving to “disconnected” states of decoupling, reduced energy rates were paired with reduced growth rates and accelerated growth rates with increased energy consumption rates. This statement raises questions over long-term decoupling of energy consumption from economic growth.

Résumé :
A novel three-phase (ceramic, epoxy resin and decoupling material) piezoelectric composite with multi-element in parallel connection has been developed by using dice-fill technology. This kind of composite consists of a large number of elements which can be seen as a single-sound radiation source. The space between elements is determined via a precise method of calculation. The ceramic elements are then cut using precision machinery to achieve exact results. A kind of decoupling material has been developed to decrease the cross coupling effect between elements. The vibration velocity curves of active elements and close elements were measured using a Scanning Laser Vibrometer (Polytec PSV-400). The results indicated that the decoupling materials induced in multi-element composites have a good decoupling effect. Vibration attenuations between adjacent elements are larger than 31 dB at resonance frequency.

Résumé :
Of the various problems in decoupling one nucleus type from another using standard decoupling pulse schemes for broadband decoupling, a particular challenge is to effect full, artifact-free decoupling when the size of the coupling constant is very large. Herein it is demonstrated that 1H decoupling of the 31P NMR spectrum of diethyl phosphonate {HP(=O)(OCH2CH3)2} can be accomplished with reduced artifacts despite the large JH,P1 value of 693 Hz by using a combination of decoupling pulse schemes involving continuous-wave (CW) irradiation and either adiabatic-pulse decoupling (APD), MPF decoupling, or traditional composite-pulse decoupling (CPD) schemes such as WALTZ or GARP. The considered strategy is simple, efficient, and easy to implement on most instruments. The best result was attained for a combination of CW and CPD using GARP with a standard pulse width of 60 μs. Altogether, the advantages of the methodology include low power requirements, complete decoupling, tolerance of a range of large J values, large bandwidth for normal-sized J values, and the suppression of sidebands.

Résumé :
Abstract Flexible tactile electronic devices are extensively used in the fields of robotics, medical detection, and human-computer interaction. Monitoring contact parameters, including force magnitude, direction, and contact location, is particularly vital for skin-like tactile sensing devices. Herein, a 3D force sensor is designed based on porous structure with deliberately designed Poisson’s ratios. A genetic algorithm (GA) optimized back propagation neuronal network (BPNN) model is proposed to support the 3D force decoupling, which can greatly improve the decoupling accuracy. The introduction of the GA-BPNN significantly enhances decoupling accuracy compared to the initial neural network. Micro-porous structures with varied Poisson’s ratios are embedded into the sensing unit to achieve better sensibility. Significantly, this study underscores that the decoupling accuracy of the force components along the Z-axis can be further improved by substituting the solid unit with a designed porous structure unit featuring a specific Poisson’s ratio in an arrayed 3D force sensor.

There is a universal coupling in process control system, especially with the development of science and technology, industry system has became more and more big, the control process is more complicated, the variables which need to solve are also gradually increased. Therefore between the variables in the associated process produce coupling. In order to solve the coupling problems, we introduced PI self-adjusting fuzzy control model in the link of decoupling, and designed the model and the algorithm of decoupling with decoupling controller. The experiment showed that, after the introduction of PI algorithm, the time when the system reaches a steady is greatly reduced, saving time and cost. Also there is no coupling between the two signals, which shows that PI algorithm successfully reaches the decoupling in the process control.

Résumé :
There is currently a growing interest in replacing the internal combustion engine with electric motors in transportation applications. However, there are different problems related to electric motors for this application. One of them is the oversizing of the energy decoupling system since to ensure that the decoupling capacitor can store the power fluctuations, the capacitance required by the system is usually oversized. This leads to preference for the use of capacitors with construction technologies that have a lower lifetime than the remaining elements of the propulsion system, directly affecting the reliability of the system. In this article, the energy flow handled by the decoupling capacitor is analyzed considering the critical case of operation of an induction motor to minimize the capacitance required by the propulsion system; emphasizing the conditions that generate a higher energy return, from the motor mode of the electric machine to the decoupling capacitor. From the energy analysis, an equation for the capacitor calculation is obtained, involving proportionality factors that relate to the different operating powers, reducing up to 62.2% of the capacitance value required by the decoupling system, under conditions of maximum energy return in motor mode, compared to existing equations in the literature.

Résumé :
An IMC-PID based on V-norm decoupling for multivariable stable process with time delay was proposed in this paper. Previous multivariable IMC is usually designed after the decoupling of the process, however the industrial process modeling is difficult to be precise, so the controller design is often not ideal after decoupling. The method in this paper designs both the decoupling and controller at the same time, the IMC is not only a controller, but also a decoupling compensation. A filter parameter optimization method based on a new performance function was adopted. The controller can be realized by time delay compensation when there is an advance part. The IMC-PID designed by this method has strong robustness when the model is mismatch and excellent performance both in decoupling and control. The simulation results show that the method is very effective and has a wide range of application in actual industry area.

Résumé :
AbstractIt is still a challenge to achieve large-area preparation of robust superhydrophobic surfaces with strong mechanical stability. Here, a simple and low-cost method to prepare robust decoupling superhydrophobic coatings on aluminum (Al) alloys substrate has been presented. The superhydrophobicity and robustness of decoupling coatings are realized by structuring surfaces at two different length scales, with nanostructures for superhydrophobicity and microstructures for robustness. This prepared decoupling coating shows promising superhydrophobicity, with water contact angle (CA) of ∼158.4° and roll off angle (RA) of ∼3°. It also exhibits high repellency for impacting water droplets. Notably, the decoupling coating processes outstanding adhesion strength on the substrate after tape-peeling and cross-cut tests, also with promising wear resistantance after sandpaper abrasion and wear test. The friction coefficient of this decoupling coating is only ∼0.2. In addition, the robust decoupling superhydrophobic coating is applied to underwater buoyancy enhancement and fluid resistance reduction (drag reduction rate ∼30.09%). This decoupling superhydrophobic coating also displays promising self-cleaning and antifouling properties. Moreover, benefitting from the photocatalytic property of TiO2, this decoupling coating is also exploited for degrading organics to achieve seawater purification. This obtained decoupling superhydrophobic coating is expected to apply on other solids in marine fields, and the simple and eco-friendly method develops the potential practical application.

Résumé :
This paper addresses the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) control problem with an active deformation adjustment mechanism on a 5-metre deployable antenna panel. An adaptive reduced-dimension fuzzy decoupling (ARDFD) control strategy based on fusion functions is proposed to eliminate the effects uncertainties due to coupled subsystems by designing and incorporating a fuzzy decoupling disturbance observer. Moreover, the MIMO system can be decomposed into a number of single-input single-output (SISO) systems using the unit diagonal matrix decoupling theory. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, it was shown that the error of fuzzy interference observer and the error between the fuzzy rule post parameter matrix and optimal post parameter matrix converge to a small region. Results of the simulation also show that the ARDFD control strategy can significantly eliminate adverse effects of the coupled subsystems.

In this paper, a 5.8 GHz π-stub decoupling network is proposed to improve the performance of a receiving antenna array (RAA) in microwave wireless power transmission (MWPT) systems. A set of general design formulas was derived for determining the electric parameters of the required π-stubs. To validate the new technique, a π-stub decoupling network was combined with RAAs. The simulated and measured results show that the performance of the RAA is greatly improved by loading the π-stub decoupling network. In addition, a miniaturized MWPT system was built. System-level measurements indicate that the novel decoupling network enhances the receiving power of the RAA by up to 36.4%. An extended application also shows the scalability and effectiveness of the network, implying its huge potential in large-scale receiving arrays.

Résumé :
In this talk, we explore the application of deep neural networks (DNNs) to infer the decoupling of an incoming acoustic array, distinguishing between the signal of interest and noise components. The objective is to leverage this decoupling information to develop an effective controller that can attenuate the noise, thereby improving the quality of the desired signal. The decoupled noise is then fed into a specially designed controller to attenuate the noise while preserving the desired signal. The controller leverages the DNN's predictions to adaptively adjust its parameters, allowing it to adapt to changing noise conditions and improve noise reduction performance. The approach is evaluated using simulations and real-world acoustic array measurements. The results demonstrate the performance of the DNN-based decoupling and noise attenuation system in reducing noise while preserving the quality of the desired signal. The proposed system offers effective adaptive solutions for enhancing the quality of desired signals in the presence of noise, with potential applications in areas such as speech recognition, audio communication systems, and environmental noise suppression.

Résumé :
We assessed the fish length – otolith length relationship (FL–OL) in Dolly Varden (Salvelinus malma malma) to verify proportional growth. A decoupling was detected during first ocean migration where fish growth was occurring at a greater rate than otolith growth. Because of this decoupling, the application of traditional back-calculation models overestimated the size-at-age in premigratory char. We developed modified back-calculation equations from existing traditional models to account for this decoupling based on discontinuous piecewise regressions. The new biological intercept breakpoint method (BI–BP) provided the most accurate representation of fish size-at-age throughout all life history stages when compared with known size-at-capture values in fish. The decoupling indicates that factors other than somatic growth are important for otolith accretion. Physiological changes during smoltification likely alter calcium uptake and thereby affect calcium deposition rates on otoliths during this short but biologically critical time period of life history. It is probable that species exhibiting similar complex ontogenetic shifts in life history will likely exhibit decoupling to some extent in the FL–OL relationship.

Résumé :
In solar power systems, photovoltaic (PV) inverters play a crucial role in converting DC power generated by solar panels into AC power for grid integration. The development of decoupling technologies is essential for enhancing system efficiency, ensuring stable operation, and prolonging equipment lifespan. This paper begins by outlining the application context and theoretical foundations of decoupling technology in PV inverters, emphasizing its potential advantages in reducing weight, enhancing overcurrent protection capabilities, and improving system reliability. The paper then addresses the primary challenges encountered during the decoupling process of inverters. These challenges include increased control complexity, energy loss, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues, all of which present clear targets for subsequent resolution strategies. In response to these challenges, innovative solutions are proposed. By introducing advanced control strategies and optimizing circuit design, the control process can be simplified, and energy losses minimized. Additionally, methods for improving EMC are explored to ensure stable operation of decoupled inverters under various working conditions. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed solutions are demonstrated through experimental validation and simulation analysis, providing robust technical support for practical applications. In conclusion, the paper summarizes the research progress in decoupling technology for PV inverters and forecasts future trends. As technological innovation continues, decoupled PV inverters are expected to play a more significant role in improving energy conversion efficiency, reducing costs, and extending service life, thereby providing strong support for sustainable green energy development. Future research will focus on further refining decoupling strategies to accommodate higher power levels and more complex system environments.

Résumé :
Abstract Generally, economic growth is accompanied by an increase in energy consumption, which consequently leads to higher levels of greenhouse gas emissions. These, in turn, are the causes of global warming, which is one of the most acute environmental problems nowadays. Decoupling occurs when environmental pressure can be decreased without the negative effect of the economic growth of a country. This study is focused on the investigation of the decoupling of the economy and environmental pressure. The analysis was carried out for EU-15 countries for the period between 1990 and 2014. For the evaluation of decoupling the Tapio decoupling elasticity method was used. This method provides the extent of decoupling of the economy and environmental pressure for each country. The economy was measured in terms of gross domestic product (GDP), while the environmental pressure was represented by CO2 emissions from the public electricity and heat generation sector. The EU-15 countries were classified into three groups depending on the individual reduction targets following Kyoto Protocol. Group I had high values of reduction targets ranging from -28% to -12.5%, Group II had moderate values of reduction targets situated between -7.5% and 0%, and Group III had mild values of reduction targets from +4% to +27%. The results of this analysis show that there is strong fluctuation of the extent of decoupling between GDP and CO2 emissions for each country in the specified period. Therefore, there are no clear patterns of decoupling intensity that can be observed. However, it is important to notice that in almost every country the decoupling between GDP and CO2 emissions was either strong or weak. This study has shown that generally most of the countries achieved some extent of decoupling between the growth of the economy and the pressure on the environment. The countries that showed the decoupling of more than 80% of the specified period are Luxemburg, Ireland, and Italy. For most of the countries, the decoupling was deteriorated by the financial crisis of 2008. Another possible reason for the decrease in decoupling is the extensive use of renewable energy resources. While their application lowers the CO2 emissions, the high production and operation costs constrict the growth of the economy. Sweden, Finland, and Denmark had such situation.

Résumé :
SUMMARYNonlinear couplings between the various joints of a robotic arm cause trouble in robot control. One possibility to overcome these difficulties is offered by the concept of nonlinear decoupling. The latter leads to independent linear SISO systems, each of them describing the movement of one joint. Thus, an application of control concepts for linear SISO systems is possible. However, at present such decoupling controls are computed from the mathematical model of the arm, the so-called drive equations, whereas actuator dynamics are considered only in a secondary way. In this paper the decoupling problem for robots is investigated by accounting also for the actuator dynamics from the very beginning. This results in decoupling laws requiring a complete state feedback, i.e. not only joint positions and velocities but also the states of the various actuators have to be used. Further, formulas are given which make the computation of those states unsuitable for direct measurements.

Résumé :
A prominent research area in energy economics is the study of the correlation between economic growth and CO2 emissions. Using the combined application of correlation calculation and cluster analysis based on empirical data, the study typifies and arranges the EU member states into homogeneous groups based on the pattern of the two variables moving together based on data from the period 2010-2019. This methodology allows a test of the "decoupling" theory that can be used to describe the interaction between environmental pressures and economic development. The results can be used to infer the status of clustered Member States in the decoupling process. The results are ambivalent across member countries. For several EU Member States, different degrees of decoupling can be observed, i.e. GDP growth has been accompanied by a reduction of the ecological footprint in those countries. However, there are also member countries where the decoupling did not work, because the reduction of CO2 emissions was accompanied by a decrease in GDP.

Résumé :
The relevance of the study is conditioned by the need for an in-depth investigation of decoupling as an indicator of the effectiveness of the state's implementation of the concept of sustainable development, which in the current trends of the world economy is dominant among countries. The purpose of the study is to improve and specify the theoretical foundations of decoupling economic growth from environmental damage. The methodological framework of the study included methods of empirical analysis, synthesis, induction, comparison, hypothetical-deductive method, as well as a systematic approach to the study of scientific papers of Ukrainian and foreign scientists, strategic environmental documents of authoritative international organisations on decoupling. The study identifies three content features of decoupling economic growth from environmental damage, related to the economic growth of the economic system and the environmental damage it causes, as well as two groups of factors of environmental damage: resource and environmental factors. The author has improved the definition of decoupling based on the analysis of existing definitions of this concept, by distinguishing them from common content features and their synthesis into a single whole. Types of decoupling and approaches to the classification of its degrees are considered: according to the method of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as the author's method of P. Tapio. It was found that absolute decoupling constitutes a priority in the context of the state's implementation of the concept of sustainable development, as it meets the signs of decoupling and the basic principles of sustainable development identified in the course of the study. The study offers ways of effective development and intensification of decoupling processes within the framework of state implementation of the concept of sustainable development. The practical value of the obtained research results is related to their further application in the processes of strategic planning at the national level, as well as in the development of an economic mechanism to stimulate the decoupling of economic growth from environmental damage

Résumé :
Successful implementation of the global concept of sustainable development requires harmonising the strategic planning of sustainable development of the state to ensure effective monitoring of the progress of states in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The purpose of the research is to actualise the problem of applying forecasting methods in the process of harmonising the strategic planning of the sustainable development of the state and to develop methodological tools for its solution. In the course of the study, based on the application of such methods as: literature review, hypothetical-deductive method, comparison method, empirical method and logical analysis, the expediency is substantiated, methodological tools are developed and the method of triple exponential Holt-Winters smoothing based on a long time series is tested using the Forecast Sheet in Microsoft Excel 2016. Within the framework of a harmonised approach to strategic planning for sustainable development, to assess the country’s progress in sustainable development, the indicators of decoupling of environmental pressure from economic growth are used, as they are simple, measurable and flexible. Based on the Tapio’s methodology, a norm of non-renewable resource decoupling and environmental impact decoupling indicators is determined as a benchmark for the development and analysis of the effectiveness of the national sustainable development strategy, and a forecast of the dynamics of these indicators in the EU as a whole until 2026 is made, as a leader in the greening of the economy. The findings allowed us to identify the main trends in the EU’s sustainable development, basing on the classification of the decoupling status. The results obtained contribute to the harmonisation of national strategies to ensure the successful implementation of the global concept of sustainable development, can be used at such a stage of strategic planning as the formation of a goal tree, which makes it possible to set both attainable and relevant goals, as well as in assessing the effectiveness of strategies in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
