Résumé :
Objective: The study purpose was to understand how early months of the COVID-19 pandemic altered interlibrary loan (ILL) and document delivery (DD) in North American health science libraries (HSLs), specifically the decision-making and workflow adjustments associated with accessing their own collections and obtaining content not available via ILL. Methods: Researchers distributed an online 26-question survey through 24 health science library email lists from January 6-February 7, 2021. Respondents reported their library’s ILL and DD activities from March-August 2020, including ILL/DD usage and policies, collection access, decision-making, and workflow adjustments. In addition to calculating frequencies, cross-tabulation and statistical tests were performed to test a priori potential associations. Two researchers independently and thematically analyzed responses to the 2 open-ended questions and reached consensus on themes. Results: Hospital libraries represented 52% (n=226/431) of respondents, along with 42% academic (n=179) and 6% (n=26) multi-type or other special. Only 1% (n=5) closed completely with no remote services, but many, 45% (n=194), ceased ILL of print materials. More than half (n=246/423; 58%) agreed that ILL requests likely to be filled from print remained unfilled more than is typical. Open-ended questions yielded 5 themes on ILL/DD staffing, setup, and systems; 6 on impacts for libraries and library users. Conclusion: Lack of communication regarding collection availability and staffing resulted in delayed or unfilled requests. Hospital and academic libraries made similar decisions about continuing services but reported different experiences in areas such as purchasing digital content. Hybrid ILL/DD workflows may continue for managing these services.

Résumé :
Interlibrary loan and document delivery (ILL/DD) is an essential service provided by academic libraries to support research activities, publication and academic programmes. ILL/DD service capitalises on resource sharing or library networking by providing library materials that are not available at the host library. The Lean Six Sigma method was applied to identify the root problems. A construction of a web-based system branded as “Request Book and Article System (RBAS)” soon followed as an intervention. A retrospective study was conducted from March 2020 to August 2021 (16 months) to evaluate the key indicators of the service. Customer feedback on service quality was also surveyed. The majority of request was for articles, 649 (87.5%), followed by book request 84 (11.3%) and ebook, 9 (1.2%). Turnaround time fell within 24 hours for the majority of requests, 494 (68.4%). The highest number was from article request category, 460 (71.8%). A high proportion of users (78%) deemed the service as “high quality”. The use of a lean approach and the development of a homegrown system have improved the ILL/DD service at our library. Here we share lean practices in ILL/DD management, focusing on transforming a manual method to a digital homegrown system development and its advantages.

Résumé :
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide a detailed overview of the China Academic Library and Information system (CALIS) document supply service platform (CDSSP) – its historical development, network structure and future development plans – and discuss how its members make use of and benefit from its various components. Design/methodology/approach – The authors provide a first-person account based on their professional positions at the CALIS Administrative Center. Findings – CDSSP comprises five application systems including a unified authentication system, Saas-based interlibrary loan (ILL) and document delivery (DD) service system, ILL central scheduling and settlement system, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) service system and a service integration interface system. These systems work together to meet the needs of member libraries, other information service institutions, and their end users. CDSSP is widely used by more than 1,100 libraries based on a cloud service strategy. Each year more than 100,000 ILL and DD transactions are processed by this platform. Originality/value – The development of CDSSP makes it becomes true for CALIS to provide one stop information retrieval and supply service. At the same time, it promotes the resource sharing among member libraries to a great degree.

Journal of the Endocrine Society 4, Supplement_1 (avril 2020). http://dx.doi.org/10.1210/jendso/bvaa046.1802.

Résumé :
Abstract Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has been transforming the endocrine diagnostic methodology allowing the genetic testing to assume an exploratory role rather than only a confirmatory one. This is possible due to lower costs and increased yield of information. A way to further increase efficiency and sensitivity for variant detection is the use of a sequencing custom panel selecting specific genes for screening. In endocrine disorders, the complex and intricate genotype-phenotype relations and occurrence of diverse comorbidities made the diagnosis challenging. Our aim is to analyze the efficiency of a multigenic panel for molecular diagnosis of endocrine disorders in patients assisted in a tertiary academic hospital, as well as to train academic and medical faculties in the use of molecular tools. Genomic DNA from 282 patients was extracted from blood sample using standard procedures. Sanger method was previously used to screen some candidate genes in half of the patients. The custom panel was designed with 651 genes using the SureDesign tool (Agilent technologies), either associated with the phenotype (OMIM) or candidate genes that englobes developmental (DD), metabolic (MD), and adrenal (AD) disorders. Libraries were prepared with SureSelectXT Target Enrichment kit (Agilent Technologies). The enriched DNA libraries were sequenced in NextSeq 500 (Illumina) with High Output V2 kit (2 x 150 bp). The raw data was aligned to hg19 with BWA-MEM, variant calling was performed using FreeBayes and annotated with ANNOVAR. Filtering took into consideration the rarity (≤1%) of variants in population databases and those in exonic or splice site regions. Variants found were then classified according ACMG/AMP criteria. The categories of Pathogenic (P) and Likely Pathogenic (LP) were considered for molecular diagnosis, while variants of uncertain significance (VUS) were only reported. The average result of 3 runs was: 159Kmm2 of cluster density, 76.5 % of Q30 and 76.6 Gb of data were generated. The mean coverage depth of the targeted regions in panel sequencing data was 237x (SD±110x), with at least 96.3% of the sequenced bases being covered more than 20-fold. Out of the 282 patients, we identified 65 LP/P variants (23%), 22 VUS (8%) and 195 remained undiagnosed (69%). Considering the solved cases, 54 (19.1%) have DD, 6 (2.1%) have MD and 5 (1.8%) have AD. Taking into account that half of the patients had already been previously screened, the data enable new findings in known genes. The application of a multigenic panel aids the training of medical faculty in an academic hospital by showing the big picture of the molecular pathways behind each disorder. This may be particularly helpful considering the higher diagnosis of DD cases. A precise genetic etiology provides improvement in understanding the disease, guides decisions about prevention or treatment, and brings comfort to the affected families.

Résumé :
The European Lead Factory (ELF) consortium provides European academics and small and medium enterprises access to ~0.5 million unique compounds, a state-of-the-art ultra-high-throughput screening (u-HTS) platform, and industrial early drug discovery (DD) expertise with the aim of delivering innovative DD starting points. From 2013 to 2018, 154 proposals for eight target classes in seven therapeutic areas were submitted to the ELF consortium, 88 of which were accepted by the selection committee. During this period, 76 primary assays based on seven different readout technologies were optimized and mainly miniaturized to 1536-well plates. In total, 72 u-HTS campaigns were carried out, and follow-up work including hit triage through orthogonal, deselection, selectivity, and biophysical assays were finalized. This ambitious project showed that besides the quality of the compound library and the primary assay, the success of centralized u-HTS of large compound libraries across many target classes, various assay types, and different readout technologies is also largely dependent on the capacity and flexibility of the automation on one hand and the hit-triaging phase on the other, particularly because of undesired compound-assay interference. Thus far, the delivered hit lists from the ELF consortium have resulted in spinoffs, patents, in vivo proof of concepts, preclinical development programs, peer-reviewed publications, PhD theses, and much more, demonstrating early success indications.

Résumé :
Public library is a busy centre where people of all ages can seek and find knowledge from books and other materials. It is also a place where the experiences of the past can meet the needs of the present. So, it helps to develop the local community as well as country. But in our context, PLs have always been beyond the shadow. Here, the study entitled “PUBLIC LIBRARIES IN POKHARA VALLEY: THEIR SERVICES AND USERS’ SATISFACTION” has tried to study whether the PLs of Pokhara valley are supportive in providing relevant services or not, and what are the main income sources and how they are providing services to users. It covers six chapters, where the first chapter is introduction of the study. In this chapter, different sub-titles are also presented. In background of the study, simply types of libraries; definitions, functions and services of PLs have been described. Services, income sources and standard of PLs in Pokhara valley are presented as the statement of problems. To find out present status, income sources, services and users‟ satisfaction of them have been presented in objectives of the study. This study is limited only the study of six PLs in Pokhara valley of Kaski district. And also it studies only services, income sources, and users‟ satisfaction. The second chapter is review of literature which reviews on the relevant topic. Literature on PLs, their services, PLs in Nepal, PLs in Pokhara valley have been reviewed from sixteen different books, journals articles, websites etc. The third chapter is focus of the study where PLs in Nepal and especially PLs in Pokhara valley are discussed. Chapter four is research methodology where research design, source of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, data collection procedure and data analysis procedure are included. Selected PLs of Pokhara valley, staffs and their users are the population of this study. The sampling method is being used to select the librarie which is done on the basis of purposive non-probability sampling method and users are selected on the basis of convenience non-probability sampling method. Primary and secondary data are used for the study and the data were collected through observation, interview and questionnaire. One check list and two different types of questionnaires for staffs and users where twenty-seven questions (in total) were designed for fact finding. In chapter five, data are presented and analysed using percentage. The data are categorized in three groups. Data are tabulated wherever vi necessary. Relevant data are presented in the same table to make the comparison and analysis easier. By the analysis of the respondents‟ shows that Pokhara Public Library (PPL) is largest PLs in terms of collection and users which has 10691 collections. PLs at Pokhara Valley, other than PPL have not professional staffs. Only around 50% users got the service regarding use of library on an average. There is low users‟ satisfaction as opening hour is not suitable for 40% users. Only around 50% users are satisfied from the library materials available to them. In the sixth chapter, summary, conclusion and recommendation of the study are presented. The finding of the study shows that all PLs of Pokhara valley are providing poor services to users. Among them PPL is providing services better than others. All PLs of Pokhara valley have not met the standard as prescribed by UNESCO. Library orientation class should be provided to new users, all PLs of Pokhara valley should prepare library catalogue, funding through district/ Municipality level should be made available, etc. have been recommended by the study.

Résumé :
In academic and research libraries, electronic resources are present. Obviously, priority is given to licensed resources, even in the humanities where the development of digital technology is impacting research practices. By studying the e-resources of a sample of libraries, we intend to analyze how open access resources for the humanities are integrated into indexing tools and promoting activities. If librarians seem reluctant to follow through the issue of Open Access in the humanities, the exhortations to advance the cause of openness are growing internationally. In such a difficult economic context, the challenge consists in articulating the identification and dissemination of free web materials with the needs of research communities. Defining the concept of Open Access in the humanities, putting it into perspective and into practice may require expanded efforts on three core areas: that of mediation, training and content creation.

Résumé :
Every occupation carries with it some degree of health risk. Diseases and disease risks vary according to the occupation and the working environment. Examining the different factors of a disease can reveal how disease manifests itself differently in persons of different occupations and provides a way of identifying occupational diseases. Unhealthy working conditions affect the health of the worker and increases risk factors connected with the worker?s health. Reducing or eliminating occupational diseases or the possible health risks they present for the working population, discovering the causes of these diseases will increase worker job satisfaction, enhance quality of life and ensure the creation of a healthy and safe working environment.Information-documentation management has found a place for itself in society as a profession as well as a professional group, yet the protection of this group from occupational diseases and disease risks is a matter that is of a different dimension compared to other professional groups. This research has examined working environments at information and documentation centers, using questionnaires to study the present status of occupational health at these centers while aiming to establish what adverse conditions these environments presented and what health complaints and risk factors were involved. The ?Job Satisfaction Evaluation Form? and the Quality of Life Scale were administered to 265 information-documentation workers to determine the degree of job satisfaction and quality of life that these professionals experienced in their working environments. A major determining factor in the study was the existence of adverse conditions in the working environment. The data collected in the Health Assessment Form led to the observation that workers suffered to a great extent from allergic symptoms related to dust and other physical factors within the environment.

The CubeSats concept began in 1999 as a collaboration between California Polytechnic State University and Stanford University, and today it is an accessible and widely used by educational institutions and the private sector for the development of small satellites. As these small satellites are unmanned, the Telemetry Tracking and Remote Control (TT&C) system is one of the most critical to the mission, as their failure results in its premature end. This work presents a study of the main concepts related to the TT&C system, especially with regard to minimum power and transmission speed to ensure correct and complete transmission of payload data. Posteriorly, using the concepts presented, a set of needs is elaborated for its good functioning and good integration with the other systems of a CubeSat.
