Résumé :
In Vitro Callus and Plant Regeneration Rate of Tarabas Rice on Several Concentrations of 2,4-D The Agricultural Research and Development Agency and the West Java Provincial Government are developing new superior varieties with Japonica rice standards, namely the Tarabas variety. However, the equivalence of somatic embryogenesis ability of Tarabas rice with original Japonica variety has not been reported. In this study, the frequency of callus regeneration of Tarabas vs Hwayoung rice varieties was compared. Induction of callus from mature embryos with several concentrations of 2,4-D showed the same extent of callus formation in both rice varieties. Callus induced by 1 ppm of 2,4-D showed the higher rate of shoot formation. On the other hand, percentage of callus formation of Tarabas rice was not affected by the increase of 2,4-D concentrations and was able to show 100% regeneration rate at the fourth week in the regeneration medium, although the shoot growth was not as fast as those from medium with 1 ppm 2,4-D. Therefore, these results suggest that Tarabas variety has a somatic embryogenesis capacity equivalent to that of japonica rice and has the potential as research objects in the field of biotechnology.

Abstract Didymodon validus Limpr. is not universally recognised as a species in its own right but it is often considered a variety, D. rigidulus Hedw. var. validus (Limpr.) Düll. The epithet validus was used at varietal rank only in 1923, as Barbula rigidula (Hedw.) Mitt. var. valida (Limpr.) Broth., but this taxon was actually recognised as a variety, B. rigidula var. gigantea Schlieph. ex Warnst., already in 1904, and this name is lectotypified herein. Accordingly, the transfer of this variety to Didymodon Hedw., as D. rigidulus var. giganteus (Schlieph. ex Warnst.) Ochyra & Bednarek-Ochyra, comb. nov., is effected. This is the correct name for this Central European-Central Asian montane taxon at variety rank. Didymodon validus is considered a new synonym of D. rigidulus var. giganteus.

Résumé :
Subsidies for research and development (R&D) are an important tool of public R&D policy, which motivates extensive scientific analyses and evaluations. This article adds to this literature by arguing that the effects of R&D subsidies go beyond the extension of organizations’ monetary resources invested into R&D. It is argued that collaboration induced by subsidized joint R&D projects yield significant effects that are missed in traditional analyses. An empirical study on the level of German labor market regions substantiates this claim, showing that collaborative R&D subsidies impact regions’ innovation growth when providing access to related variety and embedding regions into central positions in cross-regional knowledge networks.

Résumé :
AbstractCyclic algebraic ${\mathbb {Z}^{d}}$-actions are defined by ideals of Laurent polynomials in $d$ commuting variables. Such an action is expansive precisely when the complex variety of the ideal is disjoint from the multiplicative $d$-torus. For such expansive actions it is known that the limit of the growth rate of periodic points exists and is equal to the entropy of the action. In an earlier paper the authors extended this result to ideals whose variety intersects the $d$-torus in a finite set. Here we further extend it to the case where the dimension of intersection of the variety with the $d$-torus is at most $d-2$. The main tool is the construction of homoclinic points which decay rapidly enough to be summable.

Résumé :
The article gives a comprehensive assessment of 5 varieties (Lada, Agata, RIMA, Arcea, Maestro) and 5 breeding lines of spring soft wheat according to the yield and adaptive properties. The studies were carried out in 2018-2022 in the conditions of the Ryazan region on dark gray forest soil. The potential for productivity and adaptability was determined according to the method of L. A. Zhivotkov et al., the degree of yield variation (СV, %) – according to B. A. Dospekhov, the yield range (d, %) – according to V. A. Zykin, index of stability (L') – according to A. A. Gryaznov, the indicator of the level of stability of the yield of a variety (PUSS) – according to E. D. Nettevich et al., ecological plasticity (bi), stability of yield (σ2d) and index of environment conditions (Ij) – according to S. A. Eberhart and W. A. Russell. It has been established that on average for 2018-2022 the highest yield potential was noted in the varieties Arcea (5.19 t/ha), Maestro (5.69 t/ha) and line 268 (5.33 t/ha). It was revealed that the productivity of the Maestro variety and line 268 was higher than the average varietal both under favorable conditions of 2022 (Ij = +6.2) – by 16.3 and 9.7 %, and under unfavorable dry conditions of 2019 (Ij = -5.4) – by 22.0 and 24.5 %, respectively. The productivity of the Arcea variety under conditions of severe drought was 99.1 % of the average varietal, which indicates good adaptive properties. As the result of the assessment by the linear regression coefficient (bi), it has been established that the varieties RIMA, Agata, Lada, Arcea actively respond to the improvement of external environmental factors (bi = 1.23; 1.35; 1.43; 1.52, respectively). According to the results of a comprehensive assessment of adaptive properties, the Maestro variety and line 898 were distinguished, which were characterized by a relatively stable yield (СV – 9.3 and 5.2%; σ2d – 7.71 and 9.09; L' – 6.12 and 9.44; PUSS – 209.6 and 176.5 %, respectively) and high adaptability to environmental conditions (CA – 1.17 and 1.01, respectively).

Résumé :
In various soil and climatic conditions of the Udmurt Republic, according to yield data (2016-2018) of state variety testing plots (GSU), ecological plasticity, stress resistance, genetic flexibility of 10 zoned and new varieties of winter wheat (standard - Volzhskaya K) were evaluated. The soil of the state variety testing sites: soddy-telopodzol sandy loamy - Uvinsky state varietal test site; light-gray forest heavy loamy - Sarapulsky state varietal test site; sod-mid-podzolic medium loamy - Mozhginsky state varietal test site. The agrometeorological conditions of the growing seasons differed in terms of heat and moisture supply: 2016 - hot and dry (hydrothermic coefficient – 0.70), 2017 - excessively humid (hydrothermic coefficient – 2.14), 2018 - wet (hydrothermic coefficient – 1.21). A high yield of winter wheat varieties was revealed in the southern zone of the Udmurt Republic (Sarapulskiy GSU - 3.32 t/ha and Mozhginskiy GSU - 2.95 t/ha). Weather conditions of the year mostly influenced the formation of winter wheat yield - 64.8-98.5 %. The share of participation of the variety is 0.8-31.7 %. A relatively high (3.40-3.47 t/ha) "genetic flexibility" of varieties Darina, Mera and Kazanskaya 285 was revealed, 7-9 % higher than the Volzhskaya K standard. The highest level of environmental sustainability was established in the varieties Volzhskaya K and Mera ‒ d = 67.36-67.44 %. According to the indicators of plasticity, a strong response to changes in environmental conditions was revealed in Darina, Mera, Universiada varieties (bi = 1.05-1.09); weak reaction – in Biryuza and Ilot varieties (bi = 0.91-0.92); plastic varieties - Volzhskaya K, Bashkirskaya 10, Italmas, Kazanskaya 285 and Moskovskaya 39 (bi = 0.96-1.01). The smallest gap between the maximum and the minimum yield (stress resistance) was noted for the Ilot variety ‒ 2.91 t/ha.

Résumé :
Abstract In this article, we study the connections between pseudo-free families of computational Ω \Omega -algebras (in appropriate varieties of Ω \Omega -algebras for suitable finite sets Ω \Omega of finitary operation symbols) and certain standard cryptographic primitives. We restrict ourselves to families ( H d ∣ d ∈ D ) \left({H}_{d}\hspace{0.33em}| \hspace{0.33em}d\in D) of computational Ω \Omega -algebras (where D ⊆ { 0 , 1 } ∗ D\subseteq {\left\{0,1\right\}}^{\ast } ) such that for every d ∈ D d\in D , each element of H d {H}_{d} is represented by a unique bit string of the length polynomial in the length of d d . Very loosely speaking, our main results are as follows: (i) pseudo-free families of computational mono-unary algebras with one to one fundamental operation (in the variety of all mono-unary algebras) exist if and only if one-way families of permutations exist; (ii) for any m ≥ 2 m\ge 2 , pseudo-free families of computational m m -unary algebras with one to one fundamental operations (in the variety of all m m -unary algebras) exist if and only if claw resistant families of m m -tuples of permutations exist; (iii) for a certain Ω \Omega and a certain variety V {\mathfrak{V}} of Ω \Omega -algebras, the existence of pseudo-free families of computational Ω \Omega -algebras in V {\mathfrak{V}} implies the existence of families of trapdoor permutations.

Résumé :
AbstractLet $G_1, \ldots , G_k$ be finite-dimensional vector spaces over a prime field $\mathbb {F}_p$. A multilinear variety of codimension at most $d$ is a subset of $G_1 \times \cdots \times G_k$ defined as the zero set of $d$ forms, each of which is multilinear on some subset of the coordinates. A map $\phi$ defined on a multilinear variety $B$ is multilinear if for each coordinate $c$ and all choices of $x_i \in G_i$, $i\not =c$, the restriction map $y \mapsto \phi (x_1, \ldots , x_{c-1}, y, x_{c+1}, \ldots , x_k)$ is linear where defined. In this note, we show that a multilinear map defined on a multilinear variety of codimension at most $d$ coincides on a multilinear variety of codimension $O_{k}(d^{O_{k}(1)})$ with a multilinear map defined on the whole of $G_1\times \cdots \times G_k$. Additionally, in the case of general finite fields, we deduce similar (but slightly weaker) results.

This paper investigates the effects of R&D subsidies on aggregate product variety and endogenous productivity growth without scale effects. In a two-country model with imperfect knowledge diffusion, the larger country has a greater share of firms with higher productivity levels. The concentration of relatively productive firms increases knowledge flows between firms, causing an increase in firm-level employment in innovation. Accordingly, the aggregate growth rate is higher when counties are asymmetric than when they are similar in size. The larger scale of firm-level innovation activity reduces market entry, however, and aggregate product variety falls. In this framework, national R&D subsidies have positive effects on the industry share, relative productivity, and wage rate of the implementing country. If the smaller country introduces an R&D subsidy, aggregate product variety rises and productivity growth falls. If the larger country introduces an R&D subsidy, productivity growth rises, but aggregate product variety may rise or fall.

Résumé :
Abstract We develop an endogenous growth model in which long-run growth is driven by three engines: private abatement R&D, expanding-variety R&D, and capital accumulation. We show that an environmental tax activates private abatement by directing researchers from the variety R&D sector to the abatement R&D sector, which helps the economy avoid the environmental disaster. Our results also show that the effect of the environmental tax on long-run growth is uncertain, depending mainly on the relative productivity between the two R&D sectors. If the abatement R&D sector is sufficiently productive, increasing the environmental tax will enhance the balanced output growth rate and social welfare.

AbstractLet ϕ: X → M be a morphism from a smooth irreducible complex quasi-projective variety X to a Grassmannian variety M such that the image is of dimension ≥ 2. Let D be a reduced hypersurface in M, and γ a general linear automorphism of M. We show that, under a certain differentialgeometric condition on ϕ(X) and D, the fundamental group π1((γ ○ ϕ)−1 (M \ D)) is isomorphic to a central extension of π1(M \ D) × π1(X) by the cokernel of π2(ϕ) : π2(X) → π2(M).

Résumé :
A simple enzymatic method for production of a wide variety of D-amino acids was developed by kinetic resolution of DL-amino acids using L-amino acid oxidase (L-AAO) with broad substrate specificity from Rhodococcus sp. AIU Z-35-1. The optimum pH of the L-AAO reaction was classified into three groups depending on the L-amino acids as substrate, and their respective activities between pH 5.5 and 8.5 accounted for more than 60% of the optimum activity. The enzyme was stable in the range from pH 6.0 to 8.0, and approximately 80% of the enzyme activity remained after incubation at for 60 min at pH 7.0. D-Amino acids such as D-citrulline, D-glutamine, D-homoserine or D-arginine, which are not produced by D-aminoacylases or D-hydantoinases, were produced from the racemic mixture within a 24-hr reaction at and pH 7.0. Thus, the present method using L-AAO was versatile for production of a wide variety of D-amino acids.

Résumé :
Point algebras introduced by Evans are algebraic systems which capture the essence of multiplications (a,b) · (c,d)=(p,q) defined on the set of all ordered pairs of elements of a set S, where p and q are selected from among a,b,c,d by some well-defined rule. In 1961, Jonsson and Tarski gave an interesting example of a variety of algebras of type 〈2,1,1〉 for illustrating the failure of certain free algebra properties. In this paper, we show that this equational class of algebras, called the JT-variety, is a universal variety of point algebras in the sense that every variety generated by a point algebra is a reduct of the JT-variety.

Résumé :
Given a smooth variety$X$and an effective Cartier divisor$D\subset X$, we show that the cohomological Chow group of 0-cycles on the double of$X$along$D$has a canonical decomposition in terms of the Chow group of 0-cycles$\text{CH}_{0}(X)$and the Chow group of 0-cycles with modulus$\text{CH}_{0}(X|D)$on$X$. When$X$is projective, we construct an Albanese variety with modulus and show that this is the universal regular quotient of$\text{CH}_{0}(X|D)$. As a consequence of the above decomposition, we prove the Roitman torsion theorem for the 0-cycles with modulus. We show that$\text{CH}_{0}(X|D)$is torsion-free and there is an injective cycle class map$\text{CH}_{0}(X|D){\hookrightarrow}K_{0}(X,D)$if$X$is affine. For a smooth affine surface$X$, this is strengthened to show that$K_{0}(X,D)$is an extension of$\text{CH}_{1}(X|D)$by$\text{CH}_{0}(X|D)$.

AbstractThis is a note on the classical Waring's problem for algebraic forms. Fix integers (n, d, r, s), and let ∧ be a general r-dimensional subspace of degree d homogeneous polynomials in n+1 variables. Let denote the variety of s-sided polar polyhedra of ∧. We carry out a case-by-case study of the structure of for several specific values of (n, d, r, s). In the first batch of examples, is shown to be a rational variety. In the second batch, is a finite set of which we calculate the cardinality.

Résumé :
AbstractIn this paper we study Lp−Lr estimates of both the extension operator and the averaging operator associated with the algebraic variety S = {x ∈ : Q(x) = 0}, where Q(x) is a non-degenerate quadratic form over the finite field with q elements. We show that the Fourier decay estimate on S is good enough to establish the sharp averaging estimates in odd dimensions. In addition, the Fourier decay estimate enables us to simply extend the sharp L2−L4 conical extension result in , due to Mockenhaupt and Tao, to the L2−L2(d+1)/(d−1) estimate in all odd dimensions d ≥ 3. We also establish a sharp estimate of the mapping properties of the average operators in the case when the variety S in even dimensions d ≥ 4 contains a d/2-dimensional subspace.

Résumé :
Abstract Three varieties of sorghum [Dynagrow: 705F (MED), F73FS10, (TALL) and F72FS25BMR (BMR)] were evaluated for their potential as a late season silage crop as part of a corn/sorghum/annual ryegrass crop rotation program. The experiment was conducted in Kinder, LA. After harvesting of corn silage in August, the field was planted (d 0) at 4 kg/ha in early September. Atrazine (1 L/ha) and Parallel (1 L/ha) were applied pre-plant for weed control. Liquid urea ammonium nitrate (32% N, 33.6 kg/ha) was side-dressed on d 30. Two applications of insecticide (Kendo, 18.7 L/ha) were applied on d 14 and 30. Three adjacent 4 ha plots were each planted with a single variety of sorghum. On d 90, 3 samples (2.7 m X 1.5 m) from each plot were evaluated for plant population, yield, stalk diameter, and plant height. Three 3.8 L plastic bags were filled with a homogenized sample of each variety of sorghum and analyzed (Agri-King Nutrition, Inc., Fulton, IL) for plant composition and digestibility. At harvest, the BMR variety was the most mature (hard dough stage) with MED and TALL varieties in milk to soft dough stage. The BMR variety had the lowest yield (P < 0.05). Crude protein content was greatest (P < 0.05) in the MED variety. Plant maturity negatively influenced the CP content of the BMR variety. Although yield was greatest (P < 0.05) in the TALL variety, the resulting plant height increased the susceptibility to lodging. Lodging was exclusive to the TALL variety with approximately 15% (based on visual appraisal) slightly or completely laid down. The MED variety produced nearly equal yield and was the greatest (P < 0.05) in percentages of CP, starch, and fat content. The BMR variety was greatest (P < 0.05) in digestibility and lowest (P < 0.05) in lignin content.

Abstract The study was conducted in the laboratory of the Agricultural Institute of Shumen. The germination energy and germination of winter wheat variety Venka 1 are reported following the adopted methodology. The germination energy was recorded on the fourth day of the experiment, and the germination and measurement of the coleoptile – on the eighth day. 10 granules of the following homeopathic preparations are pre-dissolved in distilled water: Calcium sulfuricum 6 D, Thallium sulfuricum 6 D, Sulfur, Graphites 6 D, Selenium, Ferrum metallicum 10 D, Magneziun fluoratum 10 D, Arsenicum album 12 D, Causticum Hanenmanni 30 D, Zincum metalicum 30 D. The tested homeopathic preparations have no proven effect on the germination energy and germination of seeds in wheat variety Venka 1. The variants treated with the homeopathic preparations Thallium sulfuricum and Sulfur have been proven to exceed the standard one in terms of coleoptile length. Тhis work will serve as a basis the study of other homeopathic preparations to determine their impact on uniform germination and their aftereffect on plant growth.
