Résumé :
Recent examinations of cucullanid nematodes (Cucullanidae) from marine fishes off New Caledonia, collected in the years 2004–2009, revealed the presence of the following five new species of Cucullanus Müller, 1777, all parasitic in Perciformes: Cucullanus variolae n. sp. from Variola louti (type host) and V. albimarginata (both Serranidae); Cucullanus acutospiculatus n. sp. from Caesio cuning (Caesionidae); Cucullanus diagrammae n. sp. from Diagramma pictum (Haemulidae); Cucullanus parapercidis n. sp. from Parapercis xanthozona (type host) and P. hexophtalma (both Pinguipedidae); and Cucullanus petterae n. sp. from Epinephelus merra (type host) and E. fasciatus (both Serranidae). An additional congeneric species, Cucullanus bioccai Orecchia et Paggi, 1987 was recorded from Mugil cephalus (Mugilidae, Mugiliformes) (first record in the Pacific Ocean) and Cucullanus sp. (only female) was found in Arothron manilensis (Tetraodontidae, Tetraodontiformes). Furthermore, two known cucullanid species, Dichelyne (Cucullanellus) branchiostegi (Yamaguti, 1941) in Branchiostegus wardi (Malacanthidae, Perciformes) (new host and geographical records) and Dichelyne (Cucullanellus) bodiani Moravec et Justine, 2019 in Bodianus busellatus (new host) and B. perditio (both Labridae, Perciformes), were found; Dichelyne (Cucullanellus) sp. (only females) coinfecting the latter host may represent an unknown species. Most species are described based on light and electron microscopical studies. The specimens described by Xu et al., 2017 as Cucullanus bourdini Petter et Le Bel, 1992 from Caesio xanthonota (Caesionidae) in the Taiwan Strait are considered to represent a new species, for which the name Cucullanus sinensis n. sp. is proposed.

Résumé :
AbstractCucullanus tucunarensis n. sp. (Cucullanidae) is described parasitizing the peacock bass Cichla piquiti (Cichlidae) from the Tocantins River, Tocantins State, Brazil. The new species is unique and differs from all its congeners by having a tail tip provided with several sclerotized spine-like processes on its ventral side, present in both the male and female. Furthermore, C. tucunarensis n. sp. is compared with other species of the genus recorded in the same zoogeographical region and in the same group of hosts (Perciformes).

Résumé :
AbstractMolecular and morphological characterization of two species of Cucullanidae from freshwater fish in Brazil are provided, one of which represented an undescribed taxon. Cucullanus opisthoporus n. sp. was collected in Cichla melaniae from River Xingu, State of Pará, and in C. pinima from River Jamarí, State of Rondônia. Nematodes referable to Cucullanus grandistomis were collected in Oxydoras niger from River Xingu. The new species has an appendage in the tail tip, ventrally covered by small spines, which is an exclusive feature of Cucullanus tucunarensis. However, C. tucunarensis differs from C. opisthoporus n. sp. based upon the relative position of deirids and the excretory pore, which are more posterior from the oesophageal end in the new species. Observations of C. tucunarensis type specimens also revealed features that were wrongly or not reported in the original description. Type specimens of C. grandistomis were observed, although they were poorly preserved. After evaluation of newly collected specimens of C. grandistomis, features unreported in the original description were observed for the first time, including the presence of an intestinal caecum. Thus, C. grandistomis was transferred to Dichelyne. Sequences of the 18S and 28S rRNA genes revealed high genetic similarity between the specimens of C. opisthoporus n. sp. from the two different hosts as well as their genetic distance from Dichelyne grandistomis n. comb. Phylogenetic reconstructions using representatives of Cucullanidae suggested the artificiality of the current morphological system adopted to separate the genera, since most genera were not monophyletic, although the availability of genetic data is still fragmented.

Résumé :
Helminthological examination of viscera of six freshwater fish species, collected from Misión la Paz, Pilcomayo River, Province of Salta, Argentina, revealed the presence of five species of parasitic nematodes belonging to the Camallanidae, Cystidicolidae, Cucullanidae and Anisakidae The material also contained one unknown species, Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) tomsici sp. nov. collected from Pimelodus albicans, Pygocentrus nattereri and Hoplias misionera. This species is distinguished from its congeners all over de world by possessing six pores distinctly surrounding the mouth aperture, a buccal capsule with 3–4 spiral thickenings complete, females possessing a lateral cuticular ornamentation along the body, and two pairs of preanal and three pairs of postanal papillae in males. The findings represent new hosts and geographical records.

Résumé :
The nematode Cucullanus robustus Yamaguti, 1935 (Cucullanidae) is redescribed from specimens collected from the intestine of Conger myriaster (Brevoort) (Osteichthyes) collected off the southern coast of South Korea in September 2005. Examinations of its morphology by both light and scanning electron microscopy (latter used in this species for the first time) revealed the presence of a previously unreported unpaired median preanal papilla, and variations in the situation of the excretory pore relative to the oesophagus end, as well as in measurements of some organs. The morphology of C. robustus was compared with that of other congeneric species described from anguilliform fishes. The finding of C. robustus in Korean waters represents a new geographical record for this parasite.
