Résumé :
Security and privacy in cloud systems are critical. To address security and privacy concerns, many security patterns, privacy patterns, and non-pattern-based knowledge have been reported. However, knowing which pattern or combination of patterns to use in a specific scenario is challenging due to the sheer volume of options and the layered cloud stack. To deal with security and privacy in cloud services, this study proposes the cloud security and privacy metamodel (CSPM). CSPM uses a consistent approach to classify and handle existing security and privacy patterns. In addition, CSPM is used to develop a security and privacy awareness process to develop cloud systems. The effectiveness and practicality of CSPM is demonstrated via several case studies.

Résumé :
Heliminthic paramyosin is a multifunctional protein that not only acts as a structural protein in muscle layers but as an immune-modulatory molecule interacting with the host immune system. Previously, we found that paramyosin from Clonorchis sinensis (CsPmy) is bound to human complement C9 protein (C9). To analyze the C9 binding region on CsPmy, overlapping recombinant fragments of CsPmy were produced and their binding activity to human C9 was investigated. The fragmental expression of CsPmy and C9 binding assays revealed that the C9 binding region was located at the C-terminus of CsPmy. Further analysis of the C-terminus of CsPmy to narrow the C9 binding region on CsPmy indicated that the region flanking731Leu–780 Leu was a potent C9 binding region. The CsPmy fragments corresponding to the region effectively inhibited human C9 polymerization. These results provide a precise molecular basis for CsPmy as a potent immunomodulator to evade host immune defenses by inhibiting complement attack.

Résumé :
Purpose To determine the incidence of clinically significant pseudophakic cystoid macular edema (CSPME) after phacoemulsification using the ‘bag-in-the-lens’ lens (BIL) implantation technique and to examine the influence of associated risk factors for clinically significant pseudophakic macular edema (CSPME), both ocular and systemic. Methods This retrospective study included 2419 first-operated eyes of 2419 adults who underwent phacoemulsification cataract surgery using the BIL implantation technique between January 2013 and December 2018 in the Antwerp University Hospital, Belgium. The significance of several risk factors (age, gender, previous history, intra- and postoperative complications) was examined by extraction of electronic medical files. Results The 3-month incidence of CSPME in the subgroup without risk factors was 0.00% (95% CI: 0.00 –NA). The 3-month incidence of CSPME in the subgroup with risk factors was 0.57% (95% CI 0.22–1.29%). The 3-month incidence of CSPME in the total population of 2419 patients was 0.29% (95% CI: 0.11–0.65%). The risk factors most significantly associated with CSPME included renal insufficiency (hazard ration [HR]: 5.42; 95% CI: 1.69–17.44; P = .014), exudative age-related macular degeneration (HR: 74.50, 95% CI: 25.75–215.6; P < .001) and retinal vein occlusion (HR: 22.48, 95% CI: 4.55–111.02; P = .005). Conclusions In the absence of risk factors, the incidence of CSPME was zero. We can conclude that Primary Posterior Continuous Curvilinear Capsulorhexis (PPCCC) does not increase the risk for CSPME. Non-inferiority of the BIL implantation regarding the development of CSPME, relative to the traditional ‘lens-in-the-bag’ (LIB) implantation, confirms that BIL is a safe surgical technique. This study also illustrates a previously undescribed risk factor for developing CSPME, namely renal insufficiency.

Résumé :
During oxidative stress, degenerative diseases such as atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s, and certain cancers are likely to develop. Recent research on canary seed (Phalaris canariensis) peptides has demonstrated the high in vitro antioxidant potential. Thus, this study aimed to assess the cellular and in vivo antioxidant capacity of a low-molecular-weight (<3 kDa) canary seed peptide fraction (CSPF) using Caco-2 cells and the Caenorhabditis elegans model. The results show that the CSPF had no cytotoxicity effect on Caco-2 cells at any tested concentration (0.3–2.5 mg/mL). Additionally, the cellular antioxidant activity (CAA) of the CSPF was concentration-dependent, and the highest activity achieved was 80% by the CSPF at 2.5 mg/mL. Similarly, incubation with the CSPF significantly mitigated the acute and chronic oxidative damage, extending the lifespan of the nematodes by 88 and 61%, respectively. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the CSPF reduced the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) to safe levels after sub-lethal doses of pro-oxidant paraquat. Quantitative real-time PCR revealed that the CSPF increased the expression of oxidative-stress-response-related gene GST-4. Overall, these results show that the CSPFs relied on GST-4 upregulation and scavenging of free radicals to confer oxidative stress protection and suggest that a CSPF can be used as a natural antioxidant in foods for health applications.

Résumé :
On the basis of the excellent driving force demand of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), this paper studies the torque property of the compound-structure permanent-magnet motor (CSPM motor) used for HEVs, which is influenced by magnetic field oversaturation and variable nonlinear parameters. Firstly, the system configuration of HEVs based on CSPM motor and its working mode are introduced. Next, the state equation of CSPM motor in three-phase stationary coordinate system is proposed in order to investigate its torque performance; then, the factors affecting the output torque are gained. Finite element method (FEM)-based electromagnetic parameters analysis and design is carried out, to raise the output torque and reduce the torque ripple of CSPM motor. Besides, optimized design parameters are used to establish the FEM model, and the simulation results of electromagnetic performances for the CSPM motor before and after optimization are given to verify the rationality of optimization.

Résumé :
Climate change and human activities have been heavily affecting oceanic and inland waters, and it is critical to have a comprehensive understanding of the aquatic optical properties of lakes. Since many key watercolor parameters of Qinghai Lake are not yet available, this paper aims to study the spatial and temporal variations of the water clarity (i.e., Secchi-disk depth, ZSD) and suspended particulate matter concentration (CSPM) in Qinghai Lake from 2001 to 2020 using MODIS images. First, the four atmospheric correction models, including the NIR–SWIR, MUMM, POLYMER, and C2RCC were tested. The NIR–SWIR with decent accuracy in all bands was chosen for the experiment. Then, four existing models for ZSD and six models for CSPM were evaluated. Two semi-analytical models proposed by Lee (2015) and Jiang (2021) were selected for ZSD (R2 = 0.74) and CSPM (R2 = 0.73), respectively. Finally, the distribution and variation of the ZSD and CSPM were derived over the past 20 years. Overall, the water of Qinghai Lake is quite clear: the monthly mean ZSD is 5.34 ± 1.33 m, and CSPM is 2.05 ± 1.22 mg/L. Further analytical results reveal that the ZSD and CSPM are highly correlated, and the relationship can be formulated with ZSD=8.072e−0.212CSPM (R2 = 0.65). Moreover, turbid water mainly exists along the edge of Qinghai Lake, especially on the northwestern and northeastern shores. The variation in the lakeshore exhibits some irregularity, while the main area of the lake experiences mild water quality deterioration. Statistically, 81.67% of the total area is dominated by constantly increased CSPM, and the area with decreased CSPM occupies 4.56%. There has been distinct seasonal water quality deterioration in the non-frozen period (from May to October). The water quality broadly deteriorated from 2001 to 2008. The year 2008 witnessed a sudden distinct improvement, and after that, the water quality experienced an extremely inconspicuous degradation. This study can fill the gap regarding the long-time monitoring of water clarity and total suspended matter in Qinghai Lake and is expected to provide a scientific reference for the protection and management of the lake.

Résumé :
A dynamic optimization energy management strategy called Hybrid Electric Vehicle Based on Compound Structured Permanent-Magnet Motor (CSPM-HEV) is investigated in this paper. CSPM-HEV has obvious advantages in power density, heat dissipation efficiency, torque performance and energy transmission efficiency. This paper describes the topology and working principle of the CSPM-HEV, and analyzes its operating mode and corresponding energy flow laws. On this basis, the relationship about the power loss of the vehicle, the CSPM transmission ratio iCSPM and the CSPM-HEV power distribution coefficient f1 were derived. According to the optimal combination of (iCSPM, f1), the engine power and speed which minimize the power loss of the vehicle, were calculated, thus realizing the instantaneous optimal control of the vehicle. In addition, in order to improve the instantaneously optimized control processing speed, a neural network controller was established. The drive axle demand power, speed and battery State of Charge (SOC), were taken as input variables. Then, the engine power and speed were taken as output variables. The simulation results show that the average speed of the instantaneous optimization strategy after BP neural network optimization is increased by 98.1%, the control effect is significant, and it has high application value.

Résumé :
Autonomous driving is a safety-critical system, and the occupancy of its environmental resources affects the safety of autonomous driving. In view of the lack of safety verification of environmental resource occupation rules in autonomous driving, this paper proposes a verification method of automatic driving model based on functional language through CSPM. Firstly, the modeling and verification framework of an autopilot model based on CSPM is given. Secondly, the process algebra definition of CSPM is given. Thirdly, the typical single loop environment model in automatic driving is abstracted, and the mapping method from automatic driving model to CSP is described in detail for the automatic driving environment and the typical collision, overtaking, lane change and other scenes involved. Finally, the autopilot model of the single loop is mapped to CSPM, and the application effect of this method is discussed by using FDR tool. Experiments show that this method can verify the safety of autonomous driving resources, thereby improving the reliability of the autonomous driving model.

Résumé :
Isolation of Shigella spp. from food is difficult because of a lack of appropriate selective media and the presence of low numbers of shigellae relative to competitive microorganisms. Chromogenic Shigella spp. plating medium (CSPM) was evaluated for use with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Bacteriological Analytical Manual (BAM) enrichment procedure for isolation of artificially contaminated Shigella boydii UI02 and Shigella sonnei UI05 from tomato surfaces. Tomatoes were inoculated with various concentrations of S. boydii UI02 or S. sonnei UI05 and rinsed using a shake-rub-shake procedure. Tomato rinses were enriched overnight according to the BAM procedure and streaked for isolation on CSPM, Salmonella-Shigella agar (SSA), and MacConkey agar (MAC). To access the isolation of S. boydii UI02 and S. sonnei UI05 without competition from natural tomato microflora, experiments were repeated using rifampin-adapted inocula and enrichments supplemented with 50 μg/ml rifampin. Isolation of S. boydii UI02 and S. sonnei UI05 with or without natural tomato microflora was not significantly different (P > 0.05) on CSPM, MAC, or SSA. Colony color enhancements created by CSPM may ease differentiation of Shigella colonies from those of closely related competitors.

Résumé :
Abstract As an archipelago country located around the equator line, Indonesia has a broad ambient temperature range of varying atmospheric conditions. This issue should be concerned with applying ISO 16358-1 to calculate Seasonal Energy Efficient Ratio (SEER) on cooling, or so-called the Cooling Seasonal Performance Factor (CSPF). The ISO 16358-1 recommend a set of bin temperature which can be used as the basis for calculating the CSPF. The research objectives are to compare the local ambient temperature of four cities in Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung, Pontianak, and Palembang) with the ISO bin temperature. The normal distribution graph of temperature for every four cities in Indonesia shows a remarkable difference from the ISO bin temperature. Jakarta’s most occurring temperature range is 25 – 30 °C, Bandung is 21 – 23 °C, Pontianak is 24 – 26 °C, and Palembang is 24 – 26 °C, annually. Those numbers were compared to the ISO, which has the most occurring temperature range around 24 - 28 °C. The result on CSPF calculation of AC unit sample in the range of 4,000 – 17,000 Btu/hr (both non-inverter and inverter) using Indonesia local bin temperature compared with the ISO bin temperature has an average range of 5.10%. It was concluded that Indonesia’s local ambient temperature affects the CSPF value, especially on the AC inverter unit. On the other hand, the relatively small difference value of CSPF has an advantage in applying the ISO bin temperature for future Indonesia’s energy conservation policy. It could lead to harmonizing with other South-East Asian (ASEAN) countries specifically, and another country also applying the ISO 16358-1, in general.

Résumé :
Promoting metacognition in preservice science teachers (PSTs) is necessary for effective science teaching. However, metacognition is an abstract attribute that requires in-depth investigations with qualitative methods. This study aimed to express the process utilized to develop a coding scheme of PSTs’ metacognition (CSPM). Methods: This study started with a review of the metacognition conceptual framework. Next, the researchers collected data about PSTs’ metacognition from a metacognitive self-report (MS) and a metacognition interview protocol (MIP). The participants were 22 third-year PSTs who studied at one public university. All data were analyzed for codes by using content analysis. Results: The CSPM consisted of 177 codes that can be divided into two main components and six subcomponents. The validity of the CSPM was checked by a panel of experts through the item–objective congruence index (IOC) into two different levels: an IOC between codes and components of metacognition, and an IOC between codes and levels of metacognition. The IOCs of the CSPM in the two levels were acceptable. In conclusion, the CPSM was a qualified coding scheme for qualitatively analyzing metacognition in PSTs as well as other types of participants. This study also pointed out an urgent need to develop metacognition in PSTs.

A new kernel function is developed to approximate the third order derivative by mean of the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method. It has the advantage to be efficiently used with gridded data and random distributions. Due to the discrepancy of the particles in the former distribution, we extended the use of the CSPM method for the approximation of third order derivatives. Our new kernel function provides three accurate numerical schemes, in conjunction with the trapezoidal rule, Simpson’s rule and the CSPM method respectively.

The boundary is treated using the corrective smoothed particle method to heighten the accuracy. Several calculations are performed to test the validity of the formulation. As an example of practical application, the problem of FGM cylindrical plates subjected to thermal shock is calculated, in which the thermal conductivity is temperature dependent and the heat transfer coefficient is varied in radial direction.

Résumé :
Eighty-four does of mixed breeds aged 6-8 weeks, weighing 550–600g were used todetermine the effect of feeding two varieties of composite sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas)root meal (CSPM) on the haematological and serum biochemical indices of rabbits. Therabbits were randomly allocated into seven treatments. T1 was the control while T2, T3, T4,contained 25, 50 and 75 % of maize replaced with CIP440293 CSPM and T5, T6 and T7contained TIS87/0087 CSPM replaced with 25, 50 and 75 % of maize. The treatments hadfour replicates each in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experiment. The dietscontained 10.6-12.6 % crude fibre, 16.4-17.6 % crude protein and 2610-2788 Kcal/Kgmetabolizable energy. Parameters measured were growth, haematological and serumbiochemical index of the rabbit. The result showed that there were significant (P<0.05)differences on the final weight gain, daily feed intake, daily weight gain, feed cost andsurvival ability of the rabbits. The FCR was not significantly (P>0.05) different across thedietary treatments. At the end of nine weeks of feeding trial, blood samples were collectedfrom three rabbits per treatment. The results indicate that the dietary treatments hadsignificant (P<0.05) influence on the concentrations of white blood cells and eosinophils. However, there were no significant influence of the diets on other haematologicalparameters. Total protein, urea, globulin and creatinine were also not affected (P>0.05) bythe treatment diets but albumin, cholesterol, glucose, aspartate transaminase (AST), alaninetransaminase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were influenced by the different dietarytreatments. These results show that CSPM of two varieties can be included up 50 % ingrowing rabbit diets without adverse effect on haematology and serum indices of rabbits

Résumé :
The phytochrome-interacting factors (PIFs) proteins belong to the subfamily of basic helix–loop–helix (bHLH) transcription factors and play important roles in chloroplast development and chlorophyll biosynthesis. Currently, knowledge about the PIF gene family in Camellia sinensis remains very limited. In this study, seven PIF members were identified in the C. sinensis genome and named based on homology with AtPIF genes in Arabidopsis thaliana. All C. sinensis PIF (CsPIF) proteins have both the conserved active PHYB binding (APB) and bHLH domains. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that CsPIFs were clustered into four groups—PIF1, PIF3, PIF7, and PIF8—and most CsPIFs were clustered in pairs with their corresponding orthologs in Populus tremula. CsPIF members in the same group tended to display uniform or similar exon–intron distribution patterns and motif compositions. CsPIF genes were differentially expressed in C. sinensis with various leaf colors and strongly correlated with the expression of genes involved in the chlorophyll metabolism pathway. Promoter analysis of structural genes related to chlorophyll metabolism found DNA-binding sites of PIFs were abundant in the promoter regions. Protein–protein interaction networks of CsPIFs demonstrated a close association with phytochrome, PIF4, HY5, TOC1, COP1, and PTAC12 proteins. Additionally, subcellular localization and transcriptional activity analysis suggested that CsPIF3b was nuclear localized protein and possessed transcriptional activity. We also found that CsPIF3b could activate the transcription of CsHEMA and CsPOR in Nicotiana benthamiana leaves. This work provides comprehensive research of CsPIFs and would be helpful to further promote the regulation mechanism of PIF on chlorophyll metabolism in C. sinensis.

Résumé :
Abstract High-throughput biological technologies (e.g. ChIP-seq, RNA-seq and single-cell RNA-seq) rapidly accelerate the accumulation of genome-wide omics data in diverse interrelated biological scenarios (e.g. cells, tissues and conditions). Integration and differential analysis are two common paradigms for exploring and analyzing such data. However, current integrative methods usually ignore the differential part, and typical differential analysis methods either fail to identify combinatorial patterns of difference or require matched dimensions of the data. Here, we propose a flexible framework CSMF to combine them into one paradigm to simultaneously reveal Common and Specific patterns via Matrix Factorization from data generated under interrelated biological scenarios. We demonstrate the effectiveness of CSMF with four representative applications including pairwise ChIP-seq data describing the chromatin modification map between K562 and Huvec cell lines; pairwise RNA-seq data representing the expression profiles of two different cancers; RNA-seq data of three breast cancer subtypes; and single-cell RNA-seq data of human embryonic stem cell differentiation at six time points. Extensive analysis yields novel insights into hidden combinatorial patterns in these multi-modal data. Results demonstrate that CSMF is a powerful tool to uncover common and specific patterns with significant biological implications from data of interrelated biological scenarios.

Résumé :
This study developed cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) that could run AI programs in the cloud and control air conditioners remotely from home. AI programs in the cloud can be altered any time to provide good control performances without altering the control hardware. The air conditioner costs and prices can thus be reduced by the increasing energy efficiency. Cloud control increased energy efficiency through AI control based on two conditions: (1) a constant indoor cooling rate and (2) a fixed stable range of indoor temperature control. However, if the two conditions cannot be guaranteed or the cloud signals are lost, the original proportional-integral-differential (PID) control equipped in the air conditioner can be used to ensure that the air conditioner works stably. The split-type air conditioner tested in this study is ranked eighth among 1177 air conditioners sold in Taiwan according to public data. It has extremely high energy efficiency, and using AI to increase its energy efficiency was challenging. Thus, this study analyzed the literature of AI-assisted controls since 1995 and applied it to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. Two technologies with the highest energy saving efficiency, a fuzzy + PID and model-based predictive control (MPC), were chosen to be developed into two control methodologies of cloud-based AI. They were tested for whether they could improve air conditioning energy efficiency. Energy efficiency measurement involved an enthalpy differential test chamber. The two indices, namely the energy efficiency ratio (EER) and cooling season power factor (CSPF), were tested. The EER measurement is the total efficiency value obtained when testing the required electric power at the maximum cooling capacity under constantly controlled temperature and humidity. CSPF is the tested efficiency value under dynamic conditions from changing indoor and outdoor temperatures and humidity according to the climate conditions in Taiwan. By using the static energy efficiency index EER for evaluation, the fuzzy + PID control could not save energy, but MPC increased the EER value by 9.12%. By using the dynamic energy efficiency index CSPF for evaluation, the fuzzy + PID control could increase CSPF by 3.46%, and MPC could increase energy efficiency by 7.37%.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT The chlorosome envelope of Chlorobaculum tepidum contains 10 proteins that belong to four structural motif families. A previous mutational study (N.-U. Frigaard, H. Li, K. J. Milks, and D. A. Bryant, J. Bacteriol. 186:646-653, 2004) suggested that some of these proteins might have redundant functions. Six multilocus mutants were constructed to test the effects of eliminating the proteins of the CsmC/CsmD and CsmB/CsmF motif families, and the resulting strains were characterized physiologically and biochemically. Mutants lacking all proteins of either motif family still assembled functional chlorosomes, and as measured by growth rates of the mutant strains, light harvesting was affected only at the lowest light intensities tested (9 and 32 μmol photons m−2 s−1). The size, composition, and biogenesis of the mutant chlorosomes differed from those of wild-type chlorosomes. Mutants lacking proteins of the CsmC/CsmD motif family produced smaller chlorosomes than did the wild type, and the Qy absorbance maximum for the bacteriochlorophyll c aggregates in these chlorosomes was strongly blueshifted. Conversely, the chlorosomes of mutants lacking proteins of the CsmB/CsmF motif family were larger than wild-type chlorosomes, and the Qy absorption for their bacteriochlorophyll c aggregates was redshifted. When CsmH was eliminated in addition to other proteins of either motif family, chlorosomes had smaller diameters. These data show that the chlorosome envelope proteins of the CsmB/CsmF and CsmC/CsmD families play important roles in determining chlorosome size as well as the assembly and supramolecular organization of the bacteriochlorophyll c aggregates within the chlorosome.

Résumé :
Abstract The aims were to evaluate and compare the total cost (TC) and feedlot cattle production cost index (ICBC) in the states of São Paulo (SP) and Goiás (GO) from April of 2017 until December of 2019. In addition, the progress of ICBC was compared with the General Price Index - Internal Availability (IGP-DI) in that same period. This research has been developed at the Laboratory of Socioeconomic Analyses and Animal Science (LAE) of the University of São Paulo (USP). The LAE monitors all the prices of basic inputs used in the feedlot system monthly these states and updates the data to create the ICBC. The feedlot of the states of SP and GO were delimited in three representative properties, two for SP (CSPm and CSPg) and one for GO (CGO). We found that among the evaluation period the accumulated inflation by the IGP-DI was 15.1%, while in the ICBC it was 22%, 21.7% and 38.3% for CSPm, CSPg and CGO, respectively. In other words, there was a real increase of 6.9%, 6.6% and 23.2%, in that same order, for farmers. CSPm, CSPg and CGO showed similar TC in April 2017 and September 2019. However, in October 2019 the TC per kg of live weight (LW) increased until the end of the evaluation period (December 2019), this being $3.52, $3.46 and $3.62 per kg of LW, respectively. Our findings on cost items increased more in the State of GO than SP. Purchase animals and the inputs of the diet were the main cost items that influence the TC. It was concluded that in the southeast and central-western regions of Brazil, farmers had real increases in their production costs in the feedlot. Furthermore, there was greater variability in ICBC compared to IGP-DI.

Résumé :
To develop a wrist robotic exoskeleton-type interface (REI) for force interaction, it should have a suitable range of motion similar to human wrist activities of daily living, large torque output performance, and low moving parts inertia for dynamic motion response to cover the human behavior frequency. In this paper, a wrist REI based on a fully actuated coaxial spherical parallel mechanism (CSPM) is proposed to satisfy the aforementioned features. The fully actuated CSPM-based wrist REI (FC-WREI) has the characteristics of pure rotation similar to the human wrist, high torque output by parallel torque synthesis, and low moving parts inertia due to the base arrangement of the actuators. Due to the mechanical advantages and design optimization, the FC-WREI maximally provides torque as much as 56.49–130.43% of the maximum isometric torque of the human wrist, while providing a consistent range of motion to the human wrist without interference problem. Moreover, it is confirmed that the inertia of the FC-WREI is up to 5.35 times lower than similar devices. These advantages of the FC-WREI mean that the device is applicable to various fields of REIs for force interaction.

Résumé :
The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of an enacted professional development (CPD) programme to promote teacher’s self-efficacy with respect to implementing motivational, context-based science teaching, following an education through science (EtS), three-stage model approach. The CPD is designed, based on a constructivist, socio-cultural professional development model (CSPM) to meet professional needs of each teacher within a predetermined teaching-learning approach and enacted through suitable instructional methods linked to teacher as learner, teacher as teacher and teacher as reflective practitioner. The effectiveness of the CPD is identified by means of a carefully constructed and validated Teacher Needs Questionnaire (TNQ), plus follow-up teacher interviews. Findings suggest the outcomes of the CPD, both from pre-post use of the TNQ and the undertaking of interventions, using teaching-learning modules based on the CPD, are effective in raising teacher’s self-efficacy with respect to new interdisciplinary content knowledge, teaching approaches and classroom implementation, seen as being in line with curriculum expectations. Key words: constructivist socio-cultural professional development model (CSPM), self-efficacy, Teacher Needs Questionnaire (TNQ), 3-stage education through science (EtS) model.

Résumé :
This paper presents the theoretical development and experimental implementation of a sensing technique for the robust and precise localization of a robotic wheelchair. Estimates of the vehicle’s position and orientation are obtained, based on camera observations of visual markers located at discrete positions within the environment. A novel implementation of a particle filter on camera sensor space (Camera-Space Particle Filter) is used to combine visual observations with sensed wheel rotations mapped onto a camera space through an observation function. The camera space particle filter fuses the odometry and vision sensors information within camera space, resulting in a precise update of the wheelchair’s pose. Using this approach, an inexpensive implementation on an electric wheelchair is presented. Experimental results within three structured scenarios and comparative performance using an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and Camera-Space Particle Filter (CSPF) implementations are discussed. The CSPF was found to be more precise in the pose of the wheelchair than the EKF since the former does not require the assumption of a linear system affected by zero-mean Gaussian noise. Furthermore, the time for computational processing for both implementations is of the same order of magnitude.

Résumé :
In the past, research on evaluating the portfolio efficiency of mutual funds was mostly based on the mean-variance framework proposed by Markowitz. However, for Chinese short-term mutual funds (CSTMF), short-term mutual funds with different lock-up periods will automatically roll over after the lock up period to restart the funds unless instructed to terminate. By reducing the liquidity of their investments, the lock-up period generates an opportunity cost for investors. The liquidity impacts of different CSTMFs will depend on their lock-up periods. In this paper, we evaluate the portfolio efficiency of the funds by justifying using the lock-up period as a measurement to measure the liquidity risk faced by the investors from the perspective of investors. Therefore, here, we propose to use the return-variance-liquidity framework to evaluate the performance of the funds. Furthermore, we select 28 CSTMF funds to conduct empirical analysis with appropriate DEA models. Firstly, we carry out some comparisons with the traditional mean-variance framework. The results show that the length of the lock-up periods has a significant impact on the fund’s performance, which has important guidance for the investment strategy. Finally, we conduct the benchmarking analysis for the 28 funds and introduce a new DEA model, present how to reduce liquidity risk under the premise of given return and variance, and provide valuable investment advices by combining these with sensitivity analysis. Overall, there are three conclusions: (1) most inefficient funds can be improved using portfolios consisting of funds with shorter lock-up period. (2) For some inefficient funds with shorter lock-up period, the current return and variance levels can be achieved by a portfolio. (3) Among the funds with higher efficiency scores, funds with shorter lock-up period have higher stability.

Simvastatin (SIM) is widely used as a cholesterol-lowering drug known to affect bone formation in vivo and its sustainable administration into localized area is of particular interest. We reported previously that sustained SIM release from poly (lactic-co-glycolide) (PLGA) microspheres could maintain relatively low concentration in the bone defect area, resulting in the improved bone regeneration effect. The aim of this study was to determine the release characteristics of SIM from calcium phosphate coated SIM-loaded PLGA Microspheres (CSPMs) dispersed into an alginate hydrogel bead (with different drug release profiles), since we speculated that further sustainable SIM release would be more effective related to stimulate the formulation of BMP-2, resulting in the promoted bone regeneration.
