Résumé :

Background: Somatotype characteristics of 76 muslim women of same socio-economic status were studied from two slum areas of two different places, one in a metropolitan city and one in a suburban area in West Bengal. Women were selected on convenient way from two slum areas, one in Kolkata, the metropolitan city and one in Contai, suburban town of Medinipur district of West Bengal.Methods: Anthropometric measurement were taken for somatotyping. All measurements for each subject was taken in the same day to avoid Technical Error of Measurement (TEM).Results: All women were aged in between 22 and 38 year. Average height for the muslim women from Kolkata slum area was 150.7 (±3.5) cm and that of Contai was 151.6 (±6.5) cm. Average body weight of the muslim women form the Kolkata slum area was 59.7 (±6.0) kg whereas that of Contai slum area was 55.3 (±11.6) kg. The body type of Muslim women from Kolkata slum area was Mesomorphic Endomorph and that of Contai slum area was also Mesomorphic Endomorph. But the endomorph component of Muslim women from Kolkata slum area was 6.4 (±0.5) which was significantly higher from 5.9 (±0.8) Endomorph component of women from Contai slum area. Similarly mesomorph component of Muslim women from Contai slum area was 3.9(±0.8) which was significantly higher than 3.5(±0.4) mesomorph component of Muslim women from Kolkata slum area. No significant difference was observed in Ectomorph components which were 1.7 (±0.9) and 1.5 (±.09) for Kolkata and Contai respectively.Conclusions: Disparity was found in weight, endomorphy and mesomorphy but equity was found in height and ectomorphy. Equity in height and ectomorphy were due to same ethnical group but disparity in body weight, fattiness and muscularity were due to socio-cultural differences of two places where they live.

Résumé :

Background: It is always difficult to assess the inter-group relationships by utilizing data based on sample univariate populations. One usually faces the problem of biological taxonomy in this case. To understand such problem multivariate statistical analysis is necessary. This study deals with neurocranium characteristics of four population groups from Indian Sub-Continent. Methods: Skulls of the four populations (Harappa, Kumhar Tekri, Contai, 24 parganas) were studied. Altogether 60 adult male skulls (Harappa=10, Kumhar Tekri=10, Contai=20, 24 Parganas=20) were measured. Four length and four breadth measurements were taken. Cranial index was calculated. From the data obtained, size and shape factors were calculated. D2 P values were calculated and dendrogram was computed on the basis on D2 P values. Results: Highest value of maximum cranial length, glabella inion length, nasion inion length, glabella lambda length and minimum frontal breadth were recorded in Harappa and its lowest values were recorded in Contai skull. While Harappa, Kumhar Tekri and 24 Parganas skull were mainly orthocranial, Contai skull was mainly hypsicranial. Mean values for size and shape distance between 6 pairs were 1.14 and 1.92 respectively. This implies that the four population groups show a tendency to differ more in shape distance than size distance. Dendrogram depicts that Contai and 24 Parganas populations form a cluster. But other two are distantly placed with this cluster. However, the Harappa maintains a far distance with other three population groups. Conclusion: Higher means of shape values than the size is recoded. This implies that the four population groups show a tendency to differ more in shape distance than size distance. Finding of this study is indicative of interesting corroboration between neurocranium characteristics and inter-group relationships.

Résumé :

Providing sustainable water supply for domestic needs and irrigated agriculture is one of the most significant challenges for the current century. This challenge is more daunting in coastal regions. Groundwater plays a pivotal role in addressing this challenge and hence, it is under growing stress in several parts of the world. To address this challenge, a proper understanding of groundwater characteristics in an area is essential. In this study, spatio-temporal analyses of pre-monsoon and post-monsoon groundwater levels of two coastal aquifer systems (upper leaky confined and underlying confined) were carried out in Purba Medinipur District, West Bengal, India. Trend analysis of seasonal groundwater levels of the two aquifers systems was also performed using Mann-Kendall test, Linear Regression test, and Innovative Trend test. Finally, the status of seawater intrusion in the two aquifers was evaluated using available groundwater-quality data of Chloride (Cl−) and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Considerable spatial and temporal variability was found in the seasonal groundwater levels of the two aquifers. Further, decreasing trends were spotted in the pre-monsoon and post-monsoon groundwater-level time series of the leaky confined and confined aquifers, except pre-monsoon groundwater levels in Contai-I and Deshpran blocks, and the post-monsoon groundwater level in Ramnagar-I block for the leaky confined aquifer. The leaky confined aquifer in Contai-I, Contai-III, and Deshpran blocks and the confined aquifer in Nandigram-I and Nandigram-II blocks are vulnerable to seawater intrusion. There is an urgent need for the real-time monitoring of groundwater levels and groundwater quality in both the aquifer systems, which can ensure efficient management of coastal groundwater reserves.

Résumé :

Os cursos de escrita criativa podem vir a se tornar um fenômeno anglófono globalizado (DAWSON, 2005; MCGURL, 2009). Esses cursos, que se propõe a ensinar as pessoas a escreverem, sobretudo voltados à escrita narrativa ou poética, surgiram nos Estados Unidos e foram institucionalizados e amplamente difundidos após a Segunda Guerra Mundial, se expandiram para diversos países, dentre eles, o Brasil. Embora no Brasil, comparativamente, ainda sejam incipientes, nos Estados Unidos, esses cursos foram considerados o evento mais importante na história da literatura norte-americana pós-Segunda Guerra pelo pesquisador Mark McGurl (2009). A fim de compreendermos um pouco esse fenômeno, realizamos um curso de escrita criativa avançada online, cujo foco era a escrita narrativa, oferecido pela Universidade de Oxford, e fizemos um levantamento dos principais aspectos narrativos ensinados nesse curso. A título de comparação, fizemos a leitura de dois materiais que se propõe a ensinar técnicas de escrita narrativa: A jornada do herói, de Vogler (2009), e uma série de três manuais intitulados Book in a box – técnicas para romances comerciais (MCSILL e FREGONESE, 2013; MCSILL e PRIETTO, 2013 e MCSILL e PRADO, 2013). Esses materiais parecem ter um objetivo em comum, que é escrever histórias vendáveis, que sejam escolhidas e publicadas por editoras comerciais. Apesar de se poder crer que a literatura considerada de ‘qualidade’ esteja distante dessa discussão, esse debate merece reflexão, especialmente se levarmos em conta o quanto um escritor contemporâneo, inserido na sociedade atual, pode se distanciar dessas abordagens narrativas, uma vez que elas estão presentes não apenas em livros, mas em filmes, campanhas publicitárias, videogames, enfim, em toda parte. Diante disso, apresentaremos, nesse estudo, uma síntese das técnicas de escrita narrativa apresentadas pelos três materiais citados anteriormente e faremos isso por meio de uma comparação entre essas técnicas. Tencionamos, dessa forma, levantar e instigar reflexões a respeito desse fenômeno na sociedade e na literatura, bem como a respeito da própria narrativa em si.

AbstractFor nutritional assessment work for older population, it is important to be able to estimate body height based on knee height. The present report describes three equations for height estimation among older Bengalees based on knee height and compares the results with knee height based formulae developed for several other populations. Anthropometric measurements were analyzed from 114 (62 men and 52 women) older subjects aged >= 55 years. The subjects were randomly selected from two blocks (Contai I and Ramnagar I), at coastal area of Purba Medinipur District in West Bengal, India. A population specific formula for height was created based on knee height of the subjects. These estimated formulae from the present study and fourteen other previously reported formulae were also applied to these older population and the mean estimation errors were statistically compared. Analysis indicated that our derived formulae gave accurate estimation of height among the subjects.

Résumé :

The article presents the results of a study by the authors of the article on the development of new ways of synthesis and study of the biological activity of hydrazide derivatives of o-hydroxybenzoic acid. Methods for the preparation of hydrazone, oxadiazole, thiosemicarbazide, 1,2,4-triazole-3-thionic derivatives and methods for their further modification are described. The condensation reaction of hydroxybenzoic acid hydrazides with 1-deoxy-2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-D-glucopyranosyl isothiocyanate synthesized their corresponding acetylated glycosyl-contai-ning thiosemicarbazide derivatives. The structures of the synthesized compounds were studied by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, as well as by the data of two-dimensional spectra of COSY (1H-1H) and HMQC (1H-13C). The values of chemical shifts, multiplicity, and integrated intensity of 1H and 13C signals in one-dimensional NMR spectra were determined. Using spectra in the formats COSY (1Н-1Н) and HMQC (1Н-13С), homo- and heteronuclear interactions were established, confirming the structure of the compounds under study. The results of evaluating their antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic activity (in vitro) on cultures of human monocytic cell lines MonoMac-6 and THP-1Blue are described.

Résumé :

Floods are one of the most common quasi-natural hazards in costal districts of West Bengal, India and thousands of people are affected every year. From the destruction of crop lands and buildings to the disruption of balance of the environment and the spreading of disease, floods can devastate entire regions. The risk of flood depends on the flood intensity, frequency, and duration, the vulnerability of the people, etc. The spatiality of flood risk is still insufficient at micro level study for the management of resource disasters. In consequence, the present study on ‘flood risk mapping’ is performed in Purba Medinipur (one of the coastal districts of West Bengal, India) by considering the flood frequency and vulnerability of the people as flood risk components. The frequency of floods from 2002 to 2019 is considered as a variable of assessment and twenty-five key indicators are employed to understand the vulnerability of the people of the region. From the analysis, Moyna emerges as the highest flood risk prone block and Contai-I is the least flood prone block of the district. The results can help to minimize the chances of death, injury, loss, or harm and establish a good disaster management plan against floods.

Résumé :

The giant anteater is one of the species classified as vulnerable to extinction. Burning and being run over are among important causes in the decrease of individuals of this species and a better knowledge of the anatomy of these animals can contribute to the treatment of injured animals and their restoration to the environment. Thus, the objective of this work was to describe aspects of the anatomy of the muscles of the forearm of M. tridactyla. For this purpose, six adult specimens were used, three females and three males. The corpses were fixed with a 10% formaldehyde solution and preserved in vats contai-ning the same solution. The thoracic limbs were dissected by routine dissection techniques. The forearm muscles of M. tridac-tyla were: brachioradialis; radial carpal extensor; common finger extensor; lateral finger extensor, ulnar carpal extensor; finger extensor I and II; long abductor of finger I; supinator, radial carpal flexor; ulnar flexor of the carpus, superficial flexor of the fingers, deep flexor of the fingers, pronator teres and square pronator, which were innervated by the radial, ulnar and median nerves. These muscles give a large volume to the forearm, are robust and have highly developed tendons, especially those invol-ved with the flexion of the carpus, digits and elbow, actions that are fundamental to your defense habits and search for food.

Résumé :

O Projeto de Extensão “O conto que as caixas contam” realiza “contações” e confecções de caixas de histórias, a partir de contos da Literatura Infantil e Juvenil com o objetivo de apresentar estratégias lúdicas para contar histórias na Educação Infantil e nos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. Sua metodologia envolve três etapas: o estudo e a seleção das narrativas, a confecção das caixas com materiais reutilizáveis e, as “contações”. Desde 2020, devido à pandemia causada pela Covid-19, vem se desenvolvendo no formato on-line oferecendo apresentações e minicursos para estudantes e profissionais da educação. Após cinco anos de existência, além de encantar crianças e adultos, constata-se que o Projeto está contribuindo para a formação de novos(as) contadores(as) de histórias, graças à sua prática instigante e envolvente.

Résumé :

The spatio-temporal growth trajectory of coastal brackishwater aquaculture (CBA) in the coastal tracts of Purba Medinipur, India and its impending repercussions on the immediate environs, was primarily assessed in this study through application of geostatistics, landscape metrics, and geospatial technologies. Three Community Development (CD) Blocks, namely, Contai-I, Deshapran, and Ramnagar-II were considered to analyze the growth pattern of the area under CBA. Landsat datasets of the assessment years (1991, 2001, 2011, 2021, and 2023) were used to prepare the land use/ land cover (LULC) maps and to derive pertinent landscape metrics of patch and class levels for this region. This brought forward a highly fragmented and dispersive spatial concentration of the CBA farms in the entire study area. Additionally, Census Village-wise growth pattern of CBA was analyzed by conducting a spatial autocorrelation analysis which depicted prominent clustering of villages with a higher concentration of CBA. Results showed that there has been an incessant growth of CBA in the last three decades, however, a sharp drop has been recorded owing to recurrent bouts of diseases, swelling production costs, and a sharp drop-in market rate. The nature of growth and/ or decay of the CBA was predicted for the year 2025 using Cellular Automata and Artificial Neural Network (CA-ANN) model. After careful calibration and validation, the model projected further lessening of the CBA area along with a continued expansion of abandoned aquaculture. Accordingly, ecologically viable livelihood alternatives and environmentally sustainable management measures were suggested for the efficient monitoring of these highly fragile tropical ecosystems.

Résumé :

The structure and microhardness of an aluminum alloy with additives of nanostructured cubic boron nitride (cBN) after treatment under high pressure and temperature are investigated. А nanostructured powder of cBN with primary particles within 50–200 nm is used as a filler. A preliminary chemical-thermal modifying of the nanostructured cBN, which consists in its high-temperature annealing in the temperature range of 750–950 °C in a medium of aluminum-contai ning compounds, is carried out to increase the chemical affinity of the nanostructured cBN to the aluminum matrix. It is shown that the modifying of nanostructured cBN with aluminum increases the strength of the additives retention in the aluminum matrix. At the same time the increase in the concentration of BN additives from 1.5 to 5 wt.% as well as the increase in the treatment temperature at a fixed pressure promotes the increase in the microhardness of the material by a factor of 1.5 to 2 as compared with the base aluminum alloy without the addition of a modifier. An increase in the cBN concentration to 5 % by weight results in an increase in the fraction of smaller particle conglomerates (1–5 μm) in the material and in a decrease in the size of large inclusions to 10–20 μm. In this case, the distribution of BN particles in the aluminum matrix is more uniform in comparison with a material with a cBN content of 1.5 wt.%. In the material with the growth of temperature up to 1000 °С, cBN in aggregates is recrystallized with the formation of single-crystal (polycrystalline) particles with the size of 1–10 μm with faceting specific for cBN micron particles.

Résumé :

O objetivo desta pesquisa é investigar o processo narrativo no romance gráfico de Valêncio Xavier. A novela O Mez da Grippe (1981) será analisada e comparada a outras produções, situando-a na tradição dos romances gráficos do autor. Dessa forma, confrontando-a com as ideias de Benjamin (2012) acerca da extinção do narrador e de Adorno (2003) e Santiago (1989) sobre o narrador pós-moderno contemporâneo, analisamos como se dá a narração em uma produção literária como esta, marcada pela inclusão da arte gráfica: recortes de jornais, anúncios, postais e colagens que adentram a obra como formas de mediação da escrita. A justaposição das imagens, índices do real que, por sua vez, constroem a ficcionalidade quando retirados de seu espaço/tempo, é responsável pela narrativa, montada pelo leitor, num ir e vir, cruzar-entrecruzar de informações.

Development of a mechanism for a comprehensive assessment of the quality of software within the selected class, to simplify the task of making an informed decision when choosing a standard set of universities. Materials and methods. The proposed mechanism is based on the use of optimization methods and expert assessments. At the first stage of the mechanism, the basic requirements are clarified, taking into account the specifics of the work of the educational organization. A set of programs (alternatives) for the selected software class is formed, with the subsequent determination of the key functions characteristic of it on the basis of expert information. Further, according to the software quality indicators proposed in the work, they are evaluated for each alternative. Software quality indicators are a hierarchical three-level system (criterion, metric, evaluation element), in which the indicators of the higher levels are determined through the indicators of the lower levels. The integral assessment of the quality of an alternative is defined as the sum of the estimates of its quality criteria. At the final stage, the problem of integer linear programming is solved to determine the optimal range of alternatives within the corresponding software class, based on their conditions: maximizing the quality of an alternative contai¬ning the required set of functions, and minimizing their number. Results. The mechanism of determining the optimal alternatives for the formation of a standard set of software, in order to implement the necessary educational programs of the university, is considered. The main indicators of software quality and the mathematical apparatus for their assessment are formalized. Conclusion. The proposed mechanism allows for a quantitative assessment of the quality of software within its class, with the subsequent selection of the most rational software tools for the university. Such an asses¬sment will simplify the task of making an informed decision when forming a standard set of software necessary for implementing the requirements of federal educational standards, and in general will increase the effectiveness of the system for coordinating informatization in this direction.

Nos romances A varanda do frangipani, Um rio chamado tempo, uma casa chamada terra e O outro pé da sereia, de Mia Couto, são observados diferentes tipos de viagem, como os deslocamentos realizados por meio dos sonhos, das lembranças e da morte, e o aspecto que perpassa esses outros tipos de viagem, o contar histórias, uma forma de viajar enfatizada e que se configura como possibilidade de deslocamento por meio do imaginário. A proposta deste artigo é examinar a trajetória das personagens que realizam viagens, principalmente quando narram suas histórias, mas também quando ouvem os relatos alheios.

Résumé :

O presente artigo visa fazer uma análise exaustiva das falhas detectadas nas contas de Resultados e seu enquadramento na estrutura do Plano Geral de Contabilidade em Angola (PGCA), apoiando-se num estudo de caso do Grupo Plafar. O enfoque foi dado ao uso adequado no Balanço da Conta que espelha o Resultado transitado não sendo esta na classe 8 a conta capital e reservas, baseou-se nos seguintes pontos: identificar as debilidades existentes no Sistema Contabilístico Angolano, Proceder a sua comparação com os Sistemas estrangeiros e propor o modelo da codificação da Conta Resultado a figurar no Balanço, tendo por base as normas internacionais da contabilidade. No final da pesquisa, verificou-se que, ao contrário do que acontece no Plano Geral de Contabilidade de Angola, nos planos de contas estrangeiros as classes das receitas pertencem à classe 7 e custos à classes 6. A pesquisa revelou da falta de harmonização de contas relativas aos activos biológicos e da classe referente á contabilidade analítica. A inovação que traz no PGCA o nosso trabalho é a proposta da introdução do código “59” Conta de Resultado que irá pertencer à classe 5 onde figura a classe de Capital e Reservas e não “81”.

Résumé :

Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar quais as contas mais frequentes nos pareceres da auditoria com ressalvas das companhias listadas na BM&FBovespa. A técnica metodológica utilizada foi a pesquisa documental, por meio de um estudo de caráter descritivo, bibliográfico e com abordagem predominantemente qualitativa. A população abrangeu os pareceres de auditoria das empresas listadas na Bolsa de Valores de São Paulo, no período de 2015 a 2017, sendo a amostra composta por 728 pareceres. Os resultados demonstraram que a conta de Lucros/Prejuízos Acumulados foi a conta mais frequente nos pareceres de auditoria com ressalvas dessas companhias, vindo em seguida, com o mesmo percentual de incidência, as contas de Investimento e de Empréstimos e Financiamentos e, por fim, também com o mesmo percentual cada uma, as contas de Crédito a Receber, Provisões Fiscais e Imobilizado e Intangível. A incidência maior da conta de Lucros/Prejuízos Acumulados nestas empresas, pode trazer implicações no que diz respeito à distribuição de lucros, à destinação de reservas ou ao prejuízo que ela possa ter resultado.

A mostra Contar o tempo, que ocorreu no Centro Maria Antônia da Universidade de São Paulo, reuniu trabalhos de arte que apresentam formas e materialidades diversas de percepção e apercepção do tempo. Partiu-se da ideia de que o tempo não é um fluxo contínuo, homogêneo e mensurável. Tampouco a experiência temporal pode ser considerada única, unidirecional e uniforme, pois as dimensões sociais, políticas, psicológicas e intelectuais interferem no que se compreende como tempo. A exposição procurou mostrar também a atuação da universidade pública na busca da produção e da circulação do conhecimento, demonstrando o papel e o comprometimento dessa instituição com as artes visuais, assim como com a sociedade. Desse modo, a reflexão que aqui se desenvolve apresenta os traços gerais dessa experiência e das obras expostas.

La experiencia educativa que se presenta está estipulada en la práctica profesional de la Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador (UPEL) específicamente en el Instituto Pedagógico de Barquisimeto (IPB) como una actividad extensionista. En este caso, se implementó a través de un taller dirigido a los docentes del Centro de Educación Inicial en el cual se realizaron las pasantías y tuvo como propósito facilitar actividades pedagógicas relacionadas a la selección y uso de los cuentos en el aprendizaje infantil. La experiencia se desarrolló en 4 fases: diagnóstico, planificación, ejecución y evaluación y se implementaron técnicas e instrumentos de recolección y análisis de la información como: entrevista focalizada, registro descriptivo, lista de cotejo y análisis de contenido. Las reflexiones finales se relacionan con la importancia que tiene el uso del cuento en el aula y de su adecuada incorporación por parte del docente quien debe atender a criterios de pertinencia, significatividad y adecuación de dicha herramienta pedagógica.

Buscamos contribuir teoricamente, a partir de experiências empíricas, na construção de práticas de correspondências entre designers e artesãos de uma comunidade remanescente de quilombo, Itamatatiua, localizada no município de Alcântara, Maranhão. Tais práticas são aludidas pelos antropólogos Tim Ingold e Caroline Gatt, que defendem o fazer da antropologia por meio do design. Em resposta, propomos pensar e fazer design por meio da antropologia, e assim apresentamos parâmetros que ajudam a constituir esta proposta. Acionamos o subcampo do conhecimento Design Anthropology para refletir sobre a aproximação de design e antropologia, e como podemos, por meio de práticas de correspondência, galgar patamares de autonomia, seguindo as reflexões do antropólogo Arturo Escobar, como forma de se estabelecer relações não hierárquicas, reconhecendo as habilidades diversas dos diferentes atores sociais que atuam em um processo colaborativo, assim como tomar consciência sobre as barreiras epistemológicas destas relações, buscando o estado de autopoiesis, por meio das correspondências entre pessoas, materiais e ambiente.
