Résumé :
AbstractA novel inverter supply for bearingless PM-synchronous motors with magnetic suspension allows the reduction of the number of power electronic switches. Hence, all six motional degrees of freedom of bearingless AC machines may be controlled via 3-phase inverter topologies. In this paper, instead of a bearingless motor consisting of two half motors, one bearingless motor with an additional radial active magnetic bearing is treated. Bearingless machines with cylindrical rotors in contrast to double cone rotors generate – apart from the electromagnetic torque – only radial magnetic forces. Hence, an axial magnetic bearing is used. For this bearing, there is no need for a feeding converter bridge as the bearing coil is fed by the zero-sequence current of the feeding 3-phase inverters. The bearing coil is placed between the two star points of the motor winding. The zero-sequence current amplitude is adjusted by the 3-phase inverters via pulse width modulation. The feasibility of this kind of axial position control is proven by simulation as well as with an experiment with a 1 kW prototype motor up to 60000 min−1.

Résumé :
This article presents the design, dynamic analysis, and control of a flywheel energy storage system. At the heart of the system is a hybrid magnetic bearing. The bearing consists of ring and disk shaped permanent magnets, and a synthetic ruby sphere on a sapphire plate. The bearing is shown to be stable without active control. Equations of motion for the flywheel are derived in a sensor based coordinate system. The resulting equations are non-singular around the nominal operating condition and are feedback linearizable without the need for a coordinate transformation. A method of modeling rotor imbalance as a set of sinusoidal disturbances of magnitudes that do not depend on rotational speed is also presented. To reject large external disturbances active control is applied to the flywheel. Two nonlinear control laws are applied and are shown to improve the initial condition response of the inherently stable system.

Résumé :
DOPO and its derivatives are excellent phosphorus-based flame retardants, which are applied to a series of polymer materials. In this article, a DOPO derivative bearing an active terminal epoxy group was synthesized using a non-solvent method. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, ultra-performance liquid chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and viscosity measurements were performed to determine its molecular structure, purity, thermal performance, and fluidity. A possible fragmentation mechanism of the as-prepared DOPO derivative was analyzed using electron ionization mass spectrometer. All the results indicate that the synthesis was successful and the product had satisfactory purity and its initial decomposition temperature (T5%) under nitrogen and air atmosphere was 246°C and 240°C, respectively. Then, as a comparison with dimethyl methyl phosphonate, triethyl phosphate, and DOPO, e-DOPO was applied to a rigid polyurethane foam to investigate its effect on the flame retardancy, thermal stability, and cell morphology of polyurethane foam by limiting oxygen index, cone calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicate that e-DOPO has a greater effect than DOPO and can effectively reduce the heat release and smoke release and improve the limiting oxygen index and thermal performance of the polyurethane foam. The cell size of the sample containing e-DOPO was more uniform.

Résumé :
The study focuses on analyzing the effect of slip velocity in the case of a Ferrofluid squeeze film when the surface of truncated cone-shaped plates has a longitudinal roughness. Each oblique to the bottom plate was utilized by the external magnetic field. The bearing surface has a roughness that is designed with the help of a random stochastic variable having a nonzero mean, skewness and variance. The load carrying ability of a bearing system’s surface is determined by calculating the dispersal of pressure in the system, which is calculated by using the associated stochastically average Reynolds’ equation. The graphs obtained from the study shows that there is a correlation between the longitudinal surface roughness and the bearing system performance. The magnetic fluid lubrication has a positive impact on a system’s bearing capacity. However, the load bearing capacity declines as a result of the effect of slip. A high negative skewness of the surface roughness also has a positive impact on a bearing’s load carrying capacity. One interesting finding shows that contrasting to the results of transverse roughness, standard deviation positively impacts the load bearing capacity. This investigation suggests despite the im-portance of aspect ratio and semi vertical angle is significant for performance enhancement, it is also essential to maintain the slip at the lowest level.

Résumé :
As the size of 5-axis active magnetic bearing (AMB) gets smaller, the space limitation for installation of axial magnetic bearing unit becomes stringent. In this paper, a new type of compact, high-performance 5-axis AMB with solid cores and rotor is proposed, which consists of four permanent magnets, four U-shaped cores and 16 control coils. The proposed homopolar AMB system is levitated by the Lorentz type axial as well as Maxwell type radial forces. Based on the magnetic flux distribution analysis, the control algorithm is designed to account for the coupled effect between the radial and axial control fluxes. Experiments are also carried out with a prototype AMB system to validate the new design concept.

Résumé :
This paper proposes a new compact active magnetic bearing(AMB) that has both radial and axial control functions in one bearing unit, which enables the removal of the large disk unlike conventional axial AMBs. The proposed AMB consists of four U-shaped cores circumferentially connected by yokes and two-layer windings for radial and axial controls; one is configured like a homopolar AMB, and the other is the same as that of a 4-pole heteropolar AMB. Since each winding can be used for radial control, the proposed system has two kinds of operating principle according to the radial control type. As for axial control action, it uses the Lorentz force generated by the interaction of the bias flux for radial control and the axial control flux. In this paper, the proposed structure, principle, and design process based on the magnetic flux analysis are introduced, and its feasibility is experimentally verified by using a simple PD controller with a feedforward loop to compensate a coupled effect.
