Résumé :
The importance of evolutionary forces for comparative economic performance across societies has been the focus of a vibrant literature, highlighting the roles played by the Neolithic Revolution as well as the prehistoric “out of Africa” migration of anatomically modern humans in generating worldwide variations in the composition of human traits. This essay provides an overview of the literature on the macrogenoeconomics of comparative development, underscoring the significance of evolutionary processes and human population diversity in generating differential paths of economic development across societies. Furthermore, it examines the contribution of Nicholas Wade’s recent hypothesis, regarding the evolutionary origins of comparative development, to this important line of research. Résumé :
This is a survey of comparative linguistics viewed as a set of the related paradigms that embrace comparative historical linguistics, aerial linguistics, linguistic typology and contrastive linguistics. The treatment of the science in question is largely based on the author’s long-standing experience deduced from research projects and from teaching it as a University professor. Placing the aforementioned paradigms under the umbrella concept “comparative linguistics” seems relevant and appropriate due to their sharing the key tool of investigation, i.e., COMPARISON, also due to their providing each other with applicable procedures and principles, as in case of two seemingly closer pairs, comparative historical and aerial areal linguistics, on the one hand, linguistic typology and contrastive linguistics, on the other hand.

Résumé :
The paper investigates the issue of strategic development of a new selective form of tourism that is growing in many countries around the world named astrotourism. The issue of light pollution is also considered, given that a clear starry sky is a fundamental prerequisite for the development of this selective form of tourism. The aim of this paper is to investigate the level of development of astrotourism in the Republic of Croatia. For this purpose, a comparative analysis was performed targeting selected astrotourist destinations - the so-called Dark-Sky Parks in Croatia and Europe, as well as a research focusing on the geographical distribution and number of certified sky parks in the world. Certified Dark-Sky Parks are typical astrotourism destinations that meet all the prerequisites for its development, and are awarded the official certificate issued by the IDA - International Dark-Sky Association, as the world's umbrella institution dealing with light pollution. Observatories have a special role in the development of astrotourism, so the proposed paper presents an overview of observatories in Croatia that are focused on this type of activities. The paper aims to sensitize the scientific and professional public regarding the issue of light pollution, but also to encourage further research and expert discussions relating to this topic. Astrotourism combines different components and functions – a scientific and a recreational one, but also a very important ecological and educational function, encouraging special discussions and proposals focusing on solutions for the sensitive but still insufficiently researched area of light pollution, inadequate public illumination, as well as other “unhealthy” forms of illumination.

Résumé :
This paper examines tax incentive policies in geothermal industries in ASEAN to better understand the development of geothermal industry investment in the ASEAN Member States (AMS) using a qualitative method. The results indicate that tax incentive policies have supported the investment climate and the development of geothermal industries in the AMS. Geothermal investments and production capacities in AMS have increased significantly. AMS that provide geothermal tax incentives include Indonesia, Lao PDR, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The performance of geothermal tax incentive policies is reflected in the level of utilization of geothermal potential, which is higher in states that provide greater tax incentives. The results also indicate that geothermal power plants in AMS use dry steam, flash and binary cycle technologies with flash plants being the most common. Results suggest that the future development of geothermal energy in AMS will be related to the tax incentive policy and investment climate in those states. Furthermore, the granting of various types of tax incentives should be focused on the initial investment in geothermal development. ©2020. CBIORE-IJRED. All rights reserved

Résumé :
In comparative politics, an established finding—that economic development fosters democratic performance—has recently come under challenge. We counter this challenge with a dynamic pooled time series analysis of a major, but neglected data set from 131 nations. The final generalized least squares-autoregressive moving averages estimates (N = 2,096) appear robust and indicate strong economic development effects, dependent in part on the nation's position in the world system. For the first time, rather hard evidence is offered on the causal relationship between economics and democracy. According to Granger tests, economic development “causes” democracy, but democracy does not “cause” economic development. Overall, the various tests would seem to advance sharply the modeling of democratic performance.

Résumé :
This essay first explores how the defining features of comparative-historical analysis (CHA) endow this approach with comparative advantages for substantive research on macro development. It identifies three major traits of CHA that make this tradition an especially powerful approach for the study of development: cased-based research; a focus on context and configurations; and a concern with mechanisms and temporal flow. It then considers what concretely we have learned about the sources of macro development from CHA studies. While some findings are tentative or open to debate, the list of empirical contributions from CHA is quite substantial. Finally, the essay considers some of the frontiers of CHA work on development. Included at this frontier is work on the concept of development itself, displacing the centrality of property institutions with a focus on identity institutions, and moving the focus of analysis from the national level to subnational and supranational levels.

Résumé :

Purpose: To identify global and national trends in the development of CR reporting, the main difficulties in the CSR extension in Russia and suggest ways to improve a policy framework in the sphere of GRI based on the analysis of non-financial reporting by countries and regions of the world.

Methodology/Approach: Researching and writing the article one uses a combination of systemic and structural-functional approaches approach. The argumentation of the main provisions and conclusions is based on the application of comparisons, statistical, graph and tabular analysis methods. The information and empirical basis of the study are the legislative and normative acts of the Russian Federation, industries and regions development concepts and programs, data of state statistics bodies, materials of periodicals, conferences, roundtables, seminars, as well as the results of intermediate research carried out by the author personally.

Findings: The essential feature of the Russian CSR model is the decisive role of the state in its development. Non-financial reporting in Russia develops with slower rates than in developed countries. The methodological weakness of the reports is reflected in relatively low share of integrated reports, their incomplete compliance with international standards, methodological differences in calculations of the similar indicators. Development of CSR in Russia is connected with further study and adaptation of international best practices including a six-stage model of CSR policy formation.

Research Limitation/implication: As a result of the study, the main difficulties in the CSR extension in Russia were identified which are typical for all Russian regions and industries. Regional authorities can conduct an analysis of local difficulties and problems on this basis. The six-stage model of CSR policy formation can be used at any level of govenance with minor modifications. As a complex, these measures will solve the identified problems both at the level of regions and Russia as a whole.
Originality/Value of paper: The comparative analysis results of non-financial reporting development are author's and can be used as a basis for further analytical calculations. The findings, difficulties and directions for improving sustainable development policies in Russia in a complex develop theoretical knowledge on sustainable development, form the basis for the development and implementation of new practices within the policy framework.
