Church organizations are non-profit organizations operating in the religious sector. Church financial management requires good and adequate internal control to protect and secure church assets from fraud, damage, and waste due to ineffective use of assets. Sacralization is a factor that gives rise to blind trust in financial managers and spiritual leaders in the church. This study aims to analyze the influence of trained accounting personnel, attitudes toward the importance of internal control, and separation of duties on the level of internal control of church finances. The sample used was 115 pastors at the HKBP Church in Jakarta, Indonesia. Data were obtained by distributing questionnaires to pastors as respondents. The analysis technique is carried out using multiple regression. The results of this study show that trained accounting personnel, attitudes about the importance of internal control implementation, and the existence of separation of duties in church organizations have a significant effect on the level of internal control of church finances. The results of the study strengthen support for the implementation of effective church financial internal control, which requires increasing the competency of accounting staff through accounting training, the attitude of organizational members to support the implementation of the church’s financial internal control system to make it more accountable, and the existence of a clear separation of duties within the organization to avoid fraud.

The Catholic Church appoints lay catechists to carry out the duties of the faithful in the five areas of church duties. This article describes how lay catechists in the Parish of the Holy Spirit, Ru'a, in the Diocese of Ruteng in East Nusa Tenggara Province carry out the duties of the faithful in the five areas of church duties. The aim is to find models, forms, and challenges of lay catechist duties. The research method is descriptive qualitative, where five catechists serving in the Parish of the Holy Spirit Ru'a were interviewed in depth. In addition to them, the research also gathered information from the priest and parishioners where they work. As a result, the five lay catechists have played an essential role in five areas of the Church's pastoral work in Ru'a Parish. In carrying out their duties, they receive support and challenges from the people and the pastoral situation in the area. This research concludes that lay catechists in Ru'a Parish have carried out the tri-duties of the Church's mission according to the gospel mandate in the five areas of church duties. Their contribution has been positive in growing the faith of the people. However, they have faced many challenges, including the mindset of the people who valued the pastoral work of the clergy more than the laity. This study recommends that parishes pay more attention to the pastoral work of catechists and educate parishioners to have a more positive mindset in appreciating the pastoral work of lay catechists.

Abstract: Local Church Leaders are one component of spiritual leaders who are responsible for church growth, specifically among the Gospel Tabernacle Church of Indonesia in Sintang Regional West Kalimantan. The aims of this study is to examine and describe the efforts that have been made by the Sintang Regional Gospel Tabernacle Church Indonesia Management in improving the performance of the services of the local church leaders in the district Kelam Permai. The method in this research is an explanatory sequential and then arranges the results to explan the more detail with qualitative reasearch. The samples are Local Church Leader of Dait Kelam Permai, Genezaret Kebong and Karunia SP 7 Sepan Lebang purposively selected. All local church leaders in these 3 churches have received training and guidance from Sintang Regional of Gospel Tabernacle Church of Indonesia Management. Data collection techniques are through observation, quesionnaires, and interviews. Data is collected and analyzed quantitativly, through the relative frequency distribution table, dan described qualitatively. The results showed that, 12 local church leaders from the Gospel Tabernacle Church Indonesia of Dait Kelam Permai have the ability to carry out their duties and functions, 14 local church leaders in Genezaret Kebong can carry out their duties and functions, 7 local church leaders in Karunia SP 7 Sepan Lebang can carry out their duties and funtions properly. All the knowledge and skills possessed by local church leaders in these 3 churches are the real impact of all the efforts made by the Sintang Regional Gospel Tabernacle Church of Indonesia Management. The efforts made by the Gospel Tabernacle Church Indonesia of Sintang Regional Management are providing seminars and training, mentoring, preparing supporting facilities and infrastructure, and coordinating, communicating and evaluating the services of local church leaders.

This paper aims to analyze the relationship between the role of the Spirit of God and the growth of the Church by using a qualitative descriptive method related to the experience of the early Church. Today, some churches are led and managed like a company based on worldly principles by ignoring the vital role of the Holy Spirit in them. Data collection was carried out through the Bible, journal literature, and books, as well as interviews. The result: First, through His role, the Spirit of God equips and prepares believers in the context of carrying out ministry duties. Second, through His part, the Spirit of God in cooperating with believers produces church growth in all aspects. In conclusion, the relationship between the role of God's Spirit and church growth is to equip and prepare believers to carry out their ministry duties according to their calling and to work with them to produce church growth according to God's plan.

The church electoral roll performs a number of important functions within the Church of England, yet the qualifications for enrolment as set out in the Church Representation Rules, and the basis on which a person's name may be removed from the roll, are far from clear. This article considers critically the criteria for enrolment (especially the meaning of ‘habitual’ attendance at public worship), the duties of the electoral roll officer, and the rights of appeal against his decisions. It concludes by drawing attention to the requirement for every parish to prepare a new roll in 2007.

The Bible is God's Word written by the prophets through His guidance and also through God's breath itself in ancient times. As God's creation, church people need to build relationships through the intimacy of reading, contemplating and carrying out God's heart through God's Word contained in the Bible. In fact, most Christians and even young people think that this is not important so that there is a tendency for church members to rarely read the Bible. Therefore, the strategy of God's servant is really needed in motivating church members so that the love of reading the Bible increases and continues to be maintained for the continuity of church discipleship and the spiritual growth of mature congregations. This study aims to describe the duties of a servant of God in carrying out his duties as a pastor of the congregation and how the church creates devices, facilities, programs, methods or technology in order to motivate the congregation to cultivate reading the Bible in creative ways, as well as to guide and direct the congregation to grow in the knowledge of God and to accompany each member of the congregation to grow spiritually to mature one's faith in Jesus Christ.

At the Canon Law presently being in vigor, a Diocesan Bishop is called a shepherd. His main task in a local church is a leadership of triply character: teaching, sanctifying, and guiding that is ruling. I consequence the legislator enumerates several duties in connection with this task, which could be called the pastoral duties. The author in his article has analyzed the rules regarding those duties. A diocesan bishop as a successor of the Apostles has a specific power in the local church, which is put in his charge, and for this reason he can undertake necessary pastoral actions which are in line with the Church’s universal mission. He also is a visible sign of the unity in the community of the people of God. The author has also analyzed several other factors which condition the value and efficiency of a diocesan bishop’s services.

The Code of Canon Law of 1983 came up with a list of obligations and duties of the Catholic faithful. This list is analogical to those of the charters of fundamental rights and freedoms found in the documents of international law and in the constitutions of democratic countries. the inspiration of church law by civilian law was a reality from the very beginnings of the development of Canon Law: first by Roman Law, in the modern world by complex codifications of civil law, and after Vatican II also the idea of universal human rights. The specifics of the Catholic Church in relation to a democratic state is the incorporation of the subject of law into the Church through baptism which brings, above all, duties and obligations. Thus the catalogue which may now be seen in the Code contains first and foremost a list of duties, not rights, which are not stressed in the modern state. In fact, the modern state has very few demands; often just the payment of taxes and compulsory school attendance. The article deals with the individual obligations and rights found in the Code of Canon Law and compares them with their analogies in constitutions. The concept of civil and canonical norms tends to get closer primarily in the case of inspiration by natural law, whereas the obligations of the faithful represent a specifically ecclesiastical goals, for which no analogy in civil law can be found. After all, the supreme law of the Church is the salvation of souls, indeed, the state does not have such a supernatural goal.

Since 1979, after attaining access to most roles in Ghanaian society and churches, ordained women in various communities have combined duties as Christian ministers with their duties in other professions. The term “tent” refers the women clergy who also are teachers, nurses, medical doctors, bankers, politicians, lawyers, farmers, traders, engineers, professors, soldiers, and more. They successfully combine roles to make themselves revolutionaries. Using library and archival materials as well as data from field research, this study reveals that women leaders in church and society are merging professions so effectively that they deserve acknowledgement for important ministry contributions, especially to the advancement of women. The study recommends that women should be partnered equally with men in their role performance in the church and society.

Diaconal ministry to those in need is a statement that needs to be proven by conducting a study based on the original manuscripts of the Bible. So to achieve this goal, the author conducts literary research using biblical studies of the New Testament and using a historical-critical approach. As the number of disciples grew, there was one ministry that the apostles neglected, the "table ministry." This ministry is concerned with providing daily assistance to widows and the poor. Democratically, the apostles proposed that the disciples choose seven well-known, Spirit-filled, and wise men to carry out this ministry. Many people consider the ministry of the Diakonia separate from the ministry of the Word. But there is an interesting thing that the author finds here, namely diaconal ministry is one form of word ministry.

Thomas Frederick Simmons (1815–84) combined his ecclesiastical duties and liturgical interests with editing the fourteenth-century Middle EnglishLay folks’ mass book(1879) for the Early English Text Society, with the aim of showing the continuity of the English Church from the medieval period through the Reformation. In the light of modern scholarship, this article recontextualises both medieval text and Simmons's own editorial practice, and shows how Simmons, as a second-generation Tractarian churchman, sought in this text – and others associated with it – evidence for the Church of England's Catholic underpinning in an imagined medieval English Church.

Patrons of church livings were able, however, to influence parochial care by extending their patronage to priests who would be certain to maintain their cures satisfactorily. While the patron had no legal obligation to ensure the proper execution of parochial duties by his appointee, a certain degree of responsibility would be expected of men like Sir Thomas More, who allied themselves with the defence of the clerical estate while denouncing the personal or professional shortcomings of many of its members.

Abstract: The church is God's people who need guidance and leadership so that people can know God. Therefore the Church needs a leader who understands his duties as a leader. But there are still church leaders who do not understand their duties as leaders based on Bible principles. The church is less prepared for the younger generation as leaders. This we can see in the church in general does not provide opportunities for young people to develop their potential to lead. This church's disbelief in youth leadership is increasingly apparent because of the life of the Christian youth itself. Aside from not being able to be considered capable, the church is reluctant to entrust great responsibility to the youth because the lives of Christian youth are often considered far from God's word. Today's young Christian leaders are those who carry out Christian leadership duties at a relatively young age. Today's young leaders have so many weaknesses that young leaders are less accepted and respected by many people, so that Christian youths are trusted they must carry out the duties of young Christian leaders today according to 1 Timothy 4 namely young Christian leaders should remind the congregation of the word, teach the truth of the word , be an example for God's people who are led, grow in service, supervise themselves and teachings. Namun masih ditemukan pemimpin gereja yang kurang memahami tugasnya sebagai pemimpin berdasarkan prinsip-prinsip Alkitab. Gereja kurang mempersiapkan generasi muda sebagai pemimpin. Hal ini dapat kita lihat di dalam gereja secara umum tidak memberikan kesempatan bagi pemuda untuk mengembangkan potensinya dalam memimpin. Ketidak pecayaan gereja terhadap kepemimpinan pemuda ini semakin nyata karena kehidupan pemuda Kristen itu sendiri. Selain karena kurang di anggap mampu, gereja enggan mempercayakan tanggung jawab yang besar kepada pemuda karena kehidupan pemuda Kristen yang sering kali dianggap jauh dari firman Tuhan. Pemimpin muda Kristen masa kini adalah seorang yang menjalankan tugas kepemimpinan Kristen dalam usia yang relative muda. Pemimpin muda masa kini memiliki banyak sekali kelemahan sehingga pemimpin muda kurang diterima dan dihargai oleh orang banyak, agar pemuda kristen dipercayai maka harus menjalankan tugas pemimpin muda Kristen masa kini t menurut 1 Timotius 4 yaitu pemimpin muda kristen seharusnya mengingatkan jemaat akan firman, mengajarkan kebenaran firman, menjadi teladan bagi umat Tuhan yang dipimpin, bertumbuh dalam pelayanan, mengawasi diri dan ajaran. Metropolitan Theophan Fan Noli was a leader of the Church both in America and his native Albania. He was a pioneer in calling for a united Orthodox Church in America and in the use of English in services. Noli began his life of service in the Church in the United States organizing Albanian parishes. With the Balkan Wars and the independence of Albania, Fan Noli devoted more of his time to the cause of Albania. He was Prime Minister of Albania in 1924. After a change in political climate, Bishop Theophan was forced to leave Albania. He was able to return to the United States in 1932. Upon arriving he retired from politics and resumed his duties as bishop of the Albanian Orthodox Church in America. Bishop Noli considered his Albanian Church as a daughter of the Russian Orthodox Church in America and looked to it for the creation of a single Orthodox Church in America. He continued to lead his flock and to advocate Orthodox unity until his death in 1965.

Abstract: The author observes empirically that not a few churches are trapped by the splendor of the church, so the churches are currently competing to add various facilities so that the congregations who come to the church feel comfortable during worship. This concept is actually not wrong but it becomes problematic if the church forgets its main role in preparing superior ministry based on the Bible concept. Based on this problem, the researcher examined this matter, because the duties and responsibilities of a pastor in forming superior ministry in the local church are urgent matters. The purpose of writing this article is to explain what the pastor does in forming superior ministry in the local church. The method used in this writing is descriptive research method. The results of this study can provide practical guidance for pastors and church leaders in strengthening ministry by understanding the duties of a pastor and the role of a pastor in forming a superior ministry. This means that the pastor has an important role in preparing formidable ministers for continuity in ministry in the local church. Abstraksi: Penulis mengamati secara empiris bahwa tidak sedikit gereja-gereja terjebak dengan kemegahan gereja, sehingga gereja-gereja sekarang ini berlomba-lomba menambahkan berbagai fasilitas supaya jemaat-jemaat yang datang ke gereja merasa nyaman pada saat beribadah. Konsep ini sebenarnya tidak salah tetapi menjadi bermasalah bila gereja melupakan peranan utamannya dalam mempersiapakan pelayanan unggul berdasarkan konsep Alkitab. Berdasarkan persoalan itu sehingga peneliti mengkaji hal ini, karena tugas dan tanggung jawab seorang gembala sidang dalam membentuk pelayanan unggul di gereja lokal merupakan hal yang mendesak. Tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah menjelaskan apa saja yang dilakukan oleh gembala sidang dalam membentuk pelayanan unggul di gereja lokal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini dapat memberikan panduan praktis bagi gembala dan pemimpin gereja dalam memperkuat pelayanan dengan memahami tugas seorang gembala dan peranan gembala dalam membentuk pelayanan yang unggul. Artinya gembala sidang memiliki peran penting dalam mempersiapkan para pelayan yang tangguh demi keberlangsungan dalam pelayan di gereja lokal.

Although Pope John Paul II taught through his apostolic letter Ordinatio Sacerdotalis (1994) that the Catholic Church is unable to ordain women to priesthood, the Catholic Church gives a special place to women in it, and a survey of the Code of Canon Law (CIC 1983) and the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches (CCEO 1990) shows that there is a marked improvement in the Catholic Canon Law regarding the place and role of women in the Catholic Church. Whereas the Pio-Benedictine Code (CIC 1917) did not consider men and women as having the same rights and duties in the Church, the fundamental equality of men and women is acknowledged in the canons of the new Codes. The author argues that there is no violation of fundamental rights of women in the prohibition to ordain women to priesthood. At the same time, the article highlights the clarion call the Pope Francis to have a special role for the “Feminine Genius” within the Catholic Church.

The priority of justice is poverty. Poverty is caused by structures that ignore human equality and human dignity. This paper aims to analyze the ethics of God's servants related to the calling and duties of church ministry based on Philippians 2:21-21. First, servants of God in carrying out church duties sometimes tend to forget or ignore that they are called and chosen by God to serve souls wholeheartedly and with high ethics. Many servants of God who do not show ethical attitudes that match their status as a servant of God are found so that it becomes a stumbling block within the church as a community of believers, as well as outside the church as an environment that can be reached to Christ. In this paper, the descriptive qualitative method is used, by collecting data through the Bible and other literature books such as journals, interviews, and documents related to the topic of discussion, such as social media and Youtube. As a result, a servant of God is ethically obliged to have the nature of loyalty to God who has called him. Second, a servant of God is ethically obligated to be an example in God's entrusted to service. In conclusion, a servant of God is essentially an ethical human being because he is called by God, the Source of Ethics; the servant of God needs to grasp the essence of his calling by realizing that serving is an honour and grace in God's call. Thus, he is required to show an ethical attitude: a servant of God is ethically obliged to have the nature of loyalty to God who has called him. Second, a servant of God is ethically obliged to be an example in the service God has entrusted to him.

The condition of God's church today is quite interesting to the author's attention, especially in terms of the character of church growth. The church lost a Biblical figure in terms of church growth. As a result of losing this figure, the church uses any means or justifies any means to force its growth so that they are trapped in unbiblical practices in their growth. The church's indiscretion in observing the Bible to find a good portrait of church growth. As a result of the church's inaccuracy in observing the truth of the Bible, there is a narrowing of the church's understanding of its duties and responsibilities. The understanding of the church in terms of the theology of church growth is an unbiblical theology. This happens because of an incomprehensible understanding of Bible truth, so there are Biblical theological deviations. There are many more shifts in the value of church growth that are happening today, the author is sure that such a method has never existed in the Bible. Too many of God's churches have grown using patterns that are still relevant today and are very Biblical. This is done because church leaders are individuals who have matured in formation and preparation either in science (formal education) or in life experience. This research is about the role of elders in the Pentecostal Church in Indonesia (GPdI) of the Gethsemane church in Kuta, which has been initiated since May 18, 1979, by Ms. Nani Soetarni, and has experienced growth both in quality and quantity. As the church grows, the church leader or pastor appoints elders to help with the stewardship. The purpose of this study was to find out how the church's perspective on the stewardship task carried out by the elders at Gethsemane Gethsemane Kuta, Bali. The method used is a qualitative method, in which the participants are the GPdI Gethsemane Kuta congregation with a total of 44 people. Data collection techniques by distributing and collecting question questionnaires, where the results are, not all elders carry out their duties to the maximum. This is due to the lack of understanding of the elders about the duties and responsibilities related to the growth of the church, ineffective communication among the elders.AbstrakPenelitian ini tentang peran penatua di Gereja Pantekosta di Indonesia (GPdI) jemaat Getsemani Kuta, yang telah dirintis sejak tangal 18 Mei 1979, oleh ibu Nani Soetarni, serta telah mengalami pertumbuhan baik secara kualitas maupun kuantitas. Seiring dengan pertumbuhan gereja, maka pemimpin gereja atau gembala sidang menun-juk para penatua untuk membantu tugas penatalayanan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana perspektif jemaat tentang tugas penatalayanan yang dilakukan oleh para penatua di GPdI Getsemani Kuta, Bali. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif, di mana partisipan merupakan jemaat GPdI Getsemani Kuta yang berjumlah sebanyak 44 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan mengedarkan dan mengumpulkan angket pertanyaan, di mana hasilnya adalah, belum semua penatua melaksanakan tugas pelayanannya dengan maksimal. Hal tersebut disebabkan karena kurangnya pemahaman para penatua tentang tugas dan tanggung jawabnya yang berhubungan terhadap pertumbuhan gereja, komunikasi yang tidak efektif di antara para penatua.

The office of a steward was known in Egypt back in the time of the Pharaohs. It appears that in the East, this function first emerged in the structures of the Egyptian Church. The Canons of Pseudo-Athanasius, which probably come from the first half of the 5th century, show the author’s views on how the church stewards fulfilled their duties. Pseudo-Athanasius not only outlined the criteria to be met by these administrators, but also indicated the date by which, in his opinion, they should be solemnly appointed. In addition, this source informs us how these church administrators were supposed to fulfill their obligation to collect and secure church property for the Church’s charitable activities. The author emphasized that the steward played a key role in how efficiently actions in support of the poor were implemented, however, he also observed that these tasks were fully dependent on the will of the local bishop. Pseudo-Athanasius also devoted considerable attention to the important problem of the dishonesty of some administrators. Therefore, he postulated that the vaults and granaries should be secured with seals by a commission and that they be opened in the same way. The author had an interesting idea to create a reserve in the treasury, which, in the event of a cataclysm or other calamity, would provide food for the community. Undoubtedly, the Canons of Pseudo-Athanasius are an extremely valuable source that deepens our knowledge about the work of church stewards at that time. There are numerous indications that the author included his own observations in them. However, it should be remembered that the description of the steward’s duties presented here is a model proposition, therefore, in order to obtain a more complete picture, it should be confronted with other sources from the era.

Whereas the church is a fellowship of those who have received God's grace in faith in Christ. In order to reveal the light of God's Kingdom in the world, serve others, and grow with the aim of expanding God's Kingdom on earth. This paper aims to analyze the role of the Holy Spirit in the existence, ministry and growth of the Church by using descriptive qualitative methods related to the experience of the early church. Data collection was carried out through the Bible and various literature, journals, books, and interviews. As a result, the Holy Spirit acts as a church planter, empowers ministers to carry out church ministry duties, and drives church growth in all things. The conclusion is that the existence, ministry and growth of the church is the work of the Holy Spirit by deceiving believers for the fulfillment of God's work and plan for the world. so that the existence, ministry and growth of the church cannot be separated from the role of the Holy Spirit who works to realize the divine plan.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the application of PSAK 45 accounting and internal control in 32 churches in the Surabaya, Sidaorjo and Gresik areas. The method used in this research was descriptive research by comparing the results of the study with existing theories. These are the results of this study. First, There is no strict separation of functional responsibilities, where the 26 churches have not separated the functions, while another 12 churches have clearly separated the responsibilities. Second, only 5 churches have implemented complete accounting records starting from the use of journals, general ledgers and financial reports produced by the church in accordance with PSAK 45.Third, the implementation of healthy practices in carrying out their duties and functions has not been implemented properly due to the small number of church administrator. Fourth, Employees do not have the appropriate quality and responsibility yet, because it is difficult to find people who are committed to doing services in the church. The Sinai Covenant was very important in the life of the Israelites. Through this covenant, God gave His statutes as the creator God, also the Israelites had the privilege of being the chosen people. This blessing that was given to the nation of Israel was also given to the church. Realizing this, the church must prepare the congregation to accept it. The inability of the church to understand the promise will fail the church in carrying out its duties properly. In the Sinai covenant, God was the creator who made the nation of Israel his own, a kingdom of priests and a holy nation (Exodus 19: 5). This covenant separates the identity of the Israelites as God's chosen people. The church as a fellowship ordained by God also enjoys this blessing (1 Peter 2:9). The purpose of this study is to make it easier for readers to understand how to see the relationship between the Sinai covenant between God and Israel and God's covenant with the church. The sources of this research are taken from various books of interpretation and biblical theology of the Old Testament and the New Testament.

On 26 October 1832 Jonathan Gibbons of the parish of Lutton, some twelve miles east of Spalding, wrote to John Kaye, bishop of Lincoln, describing how ‘A great proportion of the lower orders are now supporting a sect called ranters and attending their meetings as the only resource for religious instruction.’ The reasons for this, he argued, lay with ‘lax government and want of proper attention to services and duties’ in the Church, but in addition to these problems the Church of England also had the difficult task of extending its ministrations into the scattered communities of the newly drained and cultivated south Lincolnshire fenland. In Lutton the people were left ‘open to all the evils attendant upon unrestrained ignorance’ and the voluntary religious bodies, including the Primitive Methodists or Ranters, were often quicker to respond to their needs than the Established Church.

The active role of the laity in catechesis activities is vital in strengthening the ecclesial community. Unfortunately, however, awareness of the laity's contribution and involvement is still minimal in many Church circles. Efforts to empower the laity as catechesis facilitators have great potential to increase their participation in strengthening ecclesial communities. One of the work programs from Preaching the Good Shepherd Parish of Batu Diocese of Malang is this PKM, which aims to empower lay people as catechesis facilitators through intensive training programs. This study involved a participatory training method with a Role-playing model involving participants from the Parish of the Good Shepherd of Stone. The results of this training succeeded in increasing the laity's understanding of their roles and responsibilities in catechesis activities. The participants were able to hone their skills as facilitators and improve their catechetical knowledge and their communication skills. This activity aims to increase people's awareness of their duties and responsibilities in the Five Duties of the Church, especially in preaching. Through this activity, the Good Shepherd Parish of Batu Diocese of Malang can empower lay people as catechesis facilitators through effective training programs, improving their skills, knowledge, and understanding of the role.

The attitude of the Orthodox Church in the Byzantine Empire concerning the possible participation of the clergy in war differed significantly from that of Latin Europe. The Byzantine priesthood did not become involved in military actions. The Greek Church possessed neither military units nor vassal commitment to the Empire. Despite a very close relationship with the Byzantine Church the attitude of the Georgian Church to the issue differs from that of Byzantium and is closer to the Western practice. The feudal organization of Georgia conditioned the social structure of the Georgian Church and its obligations before the monarchy. Despite the fact that the Georgian Church enjoyed many advantages, it had to take part in military campaigns. The upper circles of Georgian Church dignitaries were accustomed to both conducting military campaigns or taking part in the combat. In regard to military activities of clergy, Georgian law was much more lenient than Byzantine, and in the case of necessity, it even modified Greek legal norms. The conflict with the Christian canons was decided in favor of military necessity, and it was reflected in the legislation.

The topic of the article “The Pedagogical and Religious Dimensions of the Rites of the Sacrament of Baptism for Children” deals with the sacraments in the Catholic Church, particularly baptism as the first of the seven sacraments. As signs, sacraments are also meant to instruct, and indeed they do, for the meaning and grace of baptism are made clear in the rites of its celebration Union with Christ leads to confession of faith in the One God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The profession of faith, closely related to baptism, is eminently Trinitarian. The Church baptises: “In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matt. 28,19), the Triune God to whom the Christian entrusts his life.The basis for analyzing the rites of baptism will be the Order of Baptism for Children during mass, which contains very important instructions that can be grouped into three points: (1) instructions about God the Father, (2) instructions about the essence of baptism and its importance for the parish and the baptized, (3) instructions about the duties of the baptized and their parents and godparents. In the sacraments God occupies the central place, and the sacrament of baptism, by instructing about God the Father, the first issue, brings closer three fundamental truths about God: (a) God’s initiative in the salvation for man, (b) God’s omnipotence (universal, loving and mysterious), and (c) God’s goodness. The second issue deals with: (a) the essence of baptism based on the terms given in the Rite of Receiving the Children (baptism, faith, the grace of Christ, admission to the Church, and eternal life); (b) the meaning of infant baptism for the parish community; and (c) the meaning of baptism for the child. Likewise, the third issue is also divided into two parts, with an instruction (a) on the duties of the baptized and (b) the duties of baptized children, parents and godparents.

"On 24 May 1956, Délpest Reformed Diocese – by the consent of the Danubi-an Reformed Church District– downgraded the Szigetszentmiklós Reformed Parish to the status of mission parish. The 700 members strong, almost 400 hundred years old parish’s chief elder was also relieved of his duties whilst the consistory was dis-solved. The downgrading of the long-standing parish, the dissolution of the elected consistory, and the deprivation of its right to elect its minister gave rise to protests both inside and outside the parish. An array of scandals, disciplinary issues, and dif-ficult as well as intricate lawsuits followed. The matter also generated waves in the entire Reformed Church since the presidium of the diocese overlooked the ecclesias-tic rules and regulations, ordering the downgrade without the consent of the dioce-san assembly –also assisted by the presidium of the church district–, accepting the new situation and appointing the mission minister. The case of Szigetszentmiklós is a great example to understand the global pic-ture of the actions taken against the disloyal ministers and consistories by the ecclesi-astic governance intertwined with the one-party state. Over the centuries, the fact of belonging to Christianity gradually became an integral feature of Roman status. A full-fledged citizen subject to the emperor must not be a pagan, a representative of another religion. The Romans, Byzantine society, ultimately do not constitute a national, ethnic unity. The Byzantines were aware of this fact, contemporaries quite clearly emphasized the positive or negative features of the rule of certain dynasties, based on their ethnic groups. But this circumstance is perceived as natural. None of the peoples inhabiting the empire had a monopoly on state power. The Romans were a multinational people who professed a single religion, obeyed Roman law, obeyed the power of the emperor and was a unifying force. The heritage of Greek culture, the state Greek language were the basis of cultural, but not ethnic unity of society. The Emperor, Constantine I, laid the foundations of the institution of ecclesiastical organization in the administrative and legal system of the empire: the liberation of the clergy from the usual duties of Roman citizens; legal personality of church institutions, for example, the right to accept in their favor the inheritance by will, the performance of state duties; judicial powers in civil cases of members of the Christian community and more. In the Eastern Church, due to the significant economic role of various church institutions, especially monasteries, a special branched administration was formed, the importance of which for the population sometimes exceeded the state. The church was in fact a special bureaucratic organization that had its own goals and interests of existence and development. The unity of secular and ecclesiastical authorities was recognized as the basic principle, but their role and relations in the life of the Christian community have always caused fraught debates.In the most general form, the Byzantine doctrine of the role and purpose of the institution of the church, in its narrow sense, can be reduced to two main provisions. The church is an organic continuation, with its peculiarities, of state power. At the same time, according to other doctrines, the church has some autonomy, the political organization of Byzantine society includes two equal structures –– the institution of state power, which was embodied in the emperor, and spiritual power, especially the Patriarch of Constantinople. This scheme of basic concepts is not exhaustive, it reflects only the main directions of political and legal thought.

Stress can be destructive if not well managed. It also has a direct bearing on the individual’s performance at work and productivity. The main purpose of the study was to investigate the sources of stress and management strategies that are common to ministers of the gospel. A descriptive research design was used for this study. A total of 250 ministers of the gospel serving in the Orthodox, Pentecostal and Charismatic churches in the Cape Coast Metropolis in the Central Region of Ghana were sampled for the study. Mean scores, standard deviations and rank order were used to analyse the data collected from the study. The most predominant source of stress among ministers of the gospel was “Inadequate financial support from the congregation.” The second was “Organising church programmes.” In the 3rd place was “Not getting support from church leaders.” The most important stress management strategy was “Delegating duties to others”. It was recommended that the general working conditions of ministers of the gospel should be improved by church governing councils. The implications of the findings for counselling and the church were also highlighted.

The early modern Russian government and Russian Orthodox Church identified as one of their main duties the ransoming of Russian Christians from Muslim Tatar captors. The process of ransoming could be an involved one with negotiations being carried on by different agents and by the potential ransomees themselves. Different amounts of ransom were paid on a sliding scale depending upon the ransomee’s social status, gender, and age. One of our main sources for the justification of this practice was the Stoglav (100 Chapters) Church Council in 1551, which discussed the issue of ransom in some detail. The Law Code (Ulozhenie) of 1649 specifies the conditions and amounts to be paid to redeem captives. Church writers justified the ransoming of Christian captives of the Muslim Tatars by citing Scripture, and they also specified that the government should pay the ransom out of its own treasury.

ABSTRACT: The current liturgical role of the deacon was shaped by the provisions in Lumen gentium (1965) and Sacrum diaconatus ordinem (1967). The publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1997) and of the 1983 Code of Canon Law, along with subsequent revisions to both and the papal magisterium of Popes John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis, have further clarified the Church’s teaching on the nature of the diaconate within the one sacrament of holy orders. Thanks to these developments, the Church is now in a better position to judge whether all the duties assigned to deacons as an exercise of the sanctifying office are appropriate to this rank of the ordained.

This research aims to historically explain the general situation of Dutch colonialism in the early twentieth century in Minahasa. Research also describes the motivation and purpose of forming the Pangkal Setia organization by zending teachers in the early twentieth century. It explains the results of the struggle obtained by the zending teachers through the Pangkal Setia organization in the early twentieth century in Tomohon. According to Marc Bloch (1988), this research uses the historical method, which consists of 4 (four) stages, namely problem formulation and historical observation; data collection is implemented by studying documents: archives, books, magazines, newspapers, and research results earlier. The data from archives and other sources are historically critiqued and interpreted into facts, then assembled into historical stories of the events studied. The study results concluded that the Nederlandsche Zendelingen Genootschape-NZG (Gospel Preaching Agency) carries out its mission in Indonesia. It also seeks education through opening schools for the community in its working area. The NZG applied the same task in Minahasa and later produced two groups of educated people, called 'Congregational Teachers and Gospel Teachers'. However, in carrying out their church ministry duties, they were distinguished when they served during the Indische Kerk (Dutch colonial government church) in Minahasa.

In contemporary times, incidents and cases brought about by sexual misconduct by clerics and religious alike had spurned distressing issues which the Church had to confront with. The dilemma of the Church in striking a balance between asserting its grave obligation to protect potential victims and promote its spiritual welfare on the one hand, and assisting troubled clerics and religious with dignity and compassion on the other, has inevitably put the Church at the central sphere of scrutiny and discourse. This paper investigates the delicts of religious involving sexual conduct – its nature, its relation to the Sixth commandment, the dismissal processes, the preliminary investigation and determination procedures and the effects. It also purports that the issue of dismissal of religious in the aforementioned case is complicated and difficult to analyze. Hence, it must be closely examined, must involve the duties and rights of various key people and must be dealt with with utmost sensitivity, integrity and fairness.

This article discusses the issues of registration of state acts in the Russian Empire. The authors analyzed the legislation (primarily the decrees of the Synod) on the maintenance of metric books, as well as metrics themselves. Trends in the development of forms and content of status acts in pre-revolutionary Russia, their features, errors in the implementation of registration activities in church parishes are revealed. Assumptions are made about the causes of shortcomings and errors, which mainly consisted in a negligent attitude on the part of the law enforcement officer to the relevant duties, as well as poor-quality legal regulation of the registration of state acts. The significance of metric books for the emergence or termination of rights and obligations is revealed. The study, in addition to sources on church law, is based on archival materials of the churches of the villages of the Yaroslavl district (mainly the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the village of Ponomarevo) from 1736 to 1918.
