Résumé :
History was created in 1997 when Deep Blue, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled chess engine, beat the world chess champion. Since then AI and machine learning are being increasingly used in other fields including health care to perform complex tasks. The present commentary compares chess and medicine and how lessons learnt from the application of AI in chess leading to “advanced chess” can be used to develop AI enabled “advanced medicine.” It supports the proposition that while at present it may appear that advances in medical technology are putting a strain on the doctor-patient relationship, in the long run AI and machine learning have the potential to enrich medical care by giving the gift of time to doctors to facilitate better communication with patients and win their trust. Impact of AI and machine learning on Public Health and their role in reviving of Social Medicine has also been discussed.

Résumé :
This article explores how the Government of Tamil Nadu, India, utilised strategic mass communication methods that emerged from a fusion of political and marketing strategies to create an aesthetic approach that elevated Chess Olympiad 2022, an event typically less in the public eye, into a spectacle that captured widespread attention by focusing on the event’s impact on their cultural identity and the subsequent construction of a narrative of global cultural leadership. The marketing strategy of the Government of Tamil Nadu, India may be considered an aesthetic application of the theory of symbolic interactionism, as it employed literary, musical arts and visual arts across Chennai, that ensured active engagement of individuals in the city with the government's aesthetic representations. These visual representations acted as symbolic cues, inviting interaction and sparking the curiosity of the the whole host city, the Government of Tamil Nadu, India succeeded in turning Chess into a spectator sport, and by doing so, forged a key place in the national identity for Chess by building a narrative of collective linguistic and cultural identity. Since all citizens do not have an expert level knowledge on government policies, the media narrative that is built around any government policy determines its perceived success. The media narrative of Chess Olympiad 2022 was the narrative of India emerging as a global leader in cultural diplomacy - a soft power approach that is shaped by aesthetics. In dissecting the intricate interplay between mass communication, aesthetics, and societal identity formation, this study elucidates the transformative role of these strategies during the Chess Olympiad 2022, highlighting their profound implications within the socio-cultural landscape.

Résumé :
In this article, the author analyzes the image of chess in the Soviet films of the 1970s–1980s. The relevance of the topic is associated with the renewed interest in chess and its history in modern films and television series. The author focuses on the Soviet back story of films about chess players, which until recently remained on the periphery of research. The subject of the article is the reception of chess in three Soviet films of the selected period: Grandmaster, White Snow of Russia, and Capablanca. The choice of the films under analysis was motivated by their thematic unity, which consists in translating the image of chess not as a game, leisure activity, or a way of communication but as a sport. The novelty of the research lies in studying insufficiently explored material, comparing the film plot with historical events, and identifying conceptual patterns of how a personality is perceived in late Soviet art. The main characters of the films are professional chess players, two of them based on real people. The film Grandmaster depicts an image of a Soviet intellectual who finds a game of chess to be a form of self-reflection. White Snow of Russia is based on the facts from the life of the chess player Alexander Alekhine. As presented in the film, for the protagonist chess is a vocation and the only suitable mode of existence. Although the narrative is centered around the political aspects of Alexander Alekhine’s biography, he is portrayed as a typical character of late Soviet cinema, involved in a personal conflict. The third film is a biographical melodrama about the idealized historical figure of the Cuban chess player José Raúl Capablanca, which presents a mixture of real historical facts and fiction. In all three films, the filmmakers focus on the international sport of chess, which appears to be inseparable from politics. In Capablanca, the political theme is the least developed one, but it is still important for the plot. Through the analysis of the semantic layers and expressive means of the films, the author of the article points out specific features of the presentation of chess in the Soviet screen culture. This allows identifying three different patterns of the development of the image of chess: a way of self-knowledge and self-development for the character, a sport for the intelligentsia based on the triumph of reason, and an allegory of love relationships between a man and a woman.

Résumé :
In each and every organization, data communication is the essential part. On the daily basis, the data is exchanged within the organization as well as outside the organization. The passwords and OTPs play a critical role in securing the data. Now, how long and how well these OTP will work on, will depend on the strength of these passwords and OTPs. In the proposed work, we have used the novel concept of applying the chess game in the process of the OTP or password generation. Here, we have made use of the four-player chess, with the dynamic movement of the Kings, Bishops and other components. The formation of the OTP for the user authentication as well as data sending is done on the basis of the movement of the moveable objects of the chess. For testing the strength of the pattern, we have tested it using the various entropy checking tools and the results are quite satisfactory comparing to the results of the other.

Résumé :
Playing chess on a smart phone has gained popularity in the last few years, offering the convenience of correspondence play, automatic recording of a game, etc. Although a good number of players love playing chess on a tablet/smart phone, it doesn't come close to the experience of playing over the traditional board. The feel and pleasure are more real when playing face down with the opponent sitting across each other rather than playing in mobile devices. This is especially true during chess tournaments. It would be ideal to enhance the experience of playing chess on board with the features of chess playing on smart phones. Based on the design of a roll able smart chess board, an android app has been implemented to interact with the board. It reads signals from the smart chess board and maps the movements of the chess pieces to the phone. The recorded play would be used as input for game analysis. The design and implementation of a server for playing and reviewing a game online have also been studied in this thesis.

Chief executives officers spent a great deal of time verbally interacting with other actors. Numerous representations, emanating from three different research paradigms, lay the emphasis on the impacts of their speeches on firms' evolutions and organizational behaviors. Yet, there is no specific research dealing with their discursive practices. Our research questions are the followings: what are chief executives officers' discursive practices ? Does some individual differences exist ? What are the main determinants of these practices ? The main investigation was conducted within a constructivist epistemology. Eight chief executive officers were observed during a two-month period by a research tearn, on the basis of several representational hypothesis. Those hypothesis were drawn from heterogeneous research fields. Results show that two dimensions account for chief executive officers' discursive practices: the message adaptation to the targets degree, and the interactional degree with targets. Four communication conceptions have been discovered: the expressive, conventional, obsessional and dialectic conceptions. Those conceptions can account for the different discursive practices observed according to the two preceding dimensions

Nyckelord: Sociala medier, blogg, Internet, målgrupp, kommunikation, kommunikationsbudskap, interaktion
Social media has led to a difference in people’s daily communication patterns, recently also increasingly so for businesses. This means a change in how the marketing and communication among companies should be carried out, since a company always should be present where its customers are. This is probably especially important for an organization planning to exist on the Internet alone. In social media, the target group is particularly important in the development of communication messages. However, for the company, this also means decreased control over the communication with customers.   This thesis aims to find out how social media can be used from a marketing and communications perspective to enable the food blog Chefs' Table to reach and maintain a successful relation with the target group. Qualitative interviews have been used in order to find out how the target group perceives social media and how they want to be contacted through them. Further, their reactions to the blog Chefs' Table and how the communication of the blog should be designed to appeal to them were investigated.   The analysis of the qualitative interviews shows that social media primarily are used to receive feedback and acknowledgement from other people. This could include participation in discussions or exchange of inspiration, ideas and tips through linking. The recipes, the opportunity for interaction or to influence the content and that others spread the word of its existence are the features that attract the target audience to a food blog. The target group would like to receive feedback and be allowed to interact.   The content on the blog should have a personal appropriation, be professionally educational but easy going and entertaining. In addition it should be possible to decide when and how to view content, thus it is important that the target group is offered the possibility to choose among several different communication channels.   The recommendations for Chefs’ Table are that they should have a light-hearted, yet professional tone, offer recipes whatever the occasion and give instructions in an educational way wihout being too strict. Chefs’ Table should have a personal touch that does not try to fit everyone. In addition, users should be encouraged to participate in discussions and sometimes be allowed to influence the contents of the blog.   Keywords: Social media, blog, Internet, target group, communication, communication messages, interaction

Thèse confidentielle jusqu'au 06-12-2018 : The main objective of this thesis is to present an overviews of the conceptual frameworks for understanding how people seek, manage and use information in military context. Providing theoretical and methodological frameworks to question the information practices of citizens and professional groups is probably one of the contributions of information science. This research has the following objectives: 1) Describe the commander’s information practices, mainly the need, the research, the use, the sharing, and the feedback. 2) Identify the factors that interact with commander’s information practices. 3) Discerning the relationship between information practices, sensemaking and information management in the military affairs. This exploratory qualitative study is based on SMM (sense-making method) of Brenda Dervin. The methodology is enriched by the retrospective approach of sensemaking of Karl E. Weick. Twenty-eight individual interviews and a group interview are the source of research data. The study conducts to the establishment of factors influencing commander’s information practices. The main issue is the framework of commanders’ information practices dealing with the variables like trust, networks, structure, organizational culture including sensemaking

Résumé :
In recent years, image segmentation by using deep neural networks has made great progress. However, reaching a good result by training with a small amount of data remains to be a challenge. To find a good way to improve the accuracy of segmentation with limited datasets, we implemented a new automatic chest radiographs segmentation experiment based on preliminary works by Chunliang using deep learning neural network combined with shape context information. When the process was conducted, the datasets were put into origin U-net at first. After the preliminary process, the segmented images were then repaired through a new network with shape context information. In this experiment, we created a new network structure by rebuilding the U-net into a 2-input structure and refined the processing pipeline step. In this proposed pipeline, the datasets and shape context were trained together through the new network model by iteration. The proposed method was evaluated on 247 posterior-anterior chest radiographs of public datasets and n-folds cross-validation was also used. The outcome shows that compared to origin U-net, the proposed pipeline reaches higher accuracy when trained with limited datasets. Here the "limited" datasets refer to 1-20 images in the medical image field. A better outcome with higher accuracy can be reached if the second structure is further refined and shape context generator's parameter is fine-tuned in the future.

Objectives. To assess the use, effectiveness, and implementation of telehealth-supported provider-to-provider communication and collaboration for the provision of healthcare services to rural populations and to inform a scientific workshop convened by the National Institutes of Health Office of Disease Prevention on October 12–14, 2021. Data sources. We conducted a comprehensive literature search of Ovid MEDLINE®, CINAHL®, Embase®, and Cochrane CENTRAL. We searched for articles published from January 1, 2015, to October 12, 2021, to identify data on use of rural provider-to-provider telehealth (Key Question 1) and the same databases for articles published January 1, 2010, to October 12, 2021, for studies of effectiveness and implementation (Key Questions 2 and 3) and to identify methodological weaknesses in the research (Key Question 4). Additional sources were identified through reference lists, stakeholder suggestions, and responses to a Federal Register notice. Review methods. Our methods followed the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Methods Guide (available at https://effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov/topics/cer-methods-guide/overview) and the PRISMA reporting guidelines. We used predefined criteria and dual review of abstracts and full-text articles to identify research results on (1) regional or national use, (2) effectiveness, (3) barriers and facilitators to implementation, and (4) methodological weakness in studies of provider-to-provider telehealth for rural populations. We assessed the risk of bias of the effectiveness studies using criteria specific to the different study designs and evaluated strength of evidence (SOE) for studies of similar telehealth interventions with similar outcomes. We categorized barriers and facilitators to implementation using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) and summarized methodological weaknesses of studies. Results. We included 166 studies reported in 179 publications. Studies on the degree of uptake of provider-to-provider telehealth were limited to specific clinical uses (pharmacy, psychiatry, emergency care, and stroke management) in seven studies using national or regional surveys and claims data. They reported variability across States and regions, but increasing uptake over time. Ninety-seven studies (20 trials and 77 observational studies) evaluated the effectiveness of provider-to-provider telehealth in rural settings, finding that there may be similar rates of transfers and lengths of stay with telehealth for inpatient consultations; similar mortality rates for remote intensive care unit care; similar clinical outcomes and transfer rates for neonates; improvements in medication adherence and treatment response in outpatient care for depression; improvements in some clinical monitoring measures for diabetes with endocrinology or pharmacy outpatient consultations; similar mortality or time to treatment when used to support emergency assessment and management of stroke, heart attack, or chest pain at rural hospitals; and similar rates of appropriate versus inappropriate transfers of critical care and trauma patients with specialist telehealth consultations for rural emergency departments (SOE: low). Studies of telehealth for education and mentoring of rural healthcare providers may result in intended changes in provider behavior and increases in provider knowledge, confidence, and self-efficacy (SOE: low). Patient outcomes were not frequently reported for telehealth provider education, but two studies reported improvement (SOE: low). Evidence for telehealth interventions for other clinical uses and outcomes was insufficient. We identified 67 program evaluations and qualitative studies that identified barriers and facilitators to rural provider-to-provider telehealth. Success was linked to well-functioning technology; sufficient resources, including time, staff, leadership, and equipment; and adequate payment or reimbursement. Some considerations may be unique to implementation of provider-to-provider telehealth in rural areas. These include the need for consultants to better understand the rural context; regional initiatives that pool resources among rural organizations that may not be able to support telehealth individually; and programs that can support care for infrequent as well as frequent clinical situations in rural practices. An assessment of methodological weaknesses found that studies were limited by less rigorous study designs, small sample sizes, and lack of analyses that address risks for bias. A key weakness was that studies did not assess or attempt to adjust for the risk that temporal changes may impact the results in studies that compared outcomes before and after telehealth implementation. Conclusions. While the evidence base is limited, what is available suggests that telehealth supporting provider-to-provider communications and collaboration may be beneficial. Telehealth studies report better patient outcomes in some clinical scenarios (e.g., outpatient care for depression or diabetes, education/mentoring) where telehealth interventions increase access to expertise and high-quality care. In other applications (e.g., inpatient care, emergency care), telehealth results in patient outcomes that are similar to usual care, which may be interpreted as a benefit when the purpose of telehealth is to make equivalent services available locally to rural residents. Most barriers to implementation are common to practice change efforts. Methodological weaknesses stem from weaker study designs, such as before-after studies, and small numbers of participants. The rapid increase in the use of telehealth in response to the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is likely to produce more data and offer opportunities for more rigorous studies.
