Résumé :
Ecological footprint method was used to estimate the resident’s per capita resource consumption ecological footprint and per capita ecological carrying capacity of Changsha based the statistical data from 1996 to 2009. And the Changsha sustainable development issue was discussed. The results shown that during 1996 to 2009, Changsha per capita ecological footprint of biological resources consumption has a fluctuated upward trend. Ecological footprint per capita consumption of biological resources was dominated. There is a deficit of per capita ecological carrying capacity in Changsha; People activities impact on the regional ecosystem has exceeded the ecological carrying capacity, and it resulting in a greater pressure on the ecosystem. From the perspective of resources ecological carrying capacity, Changsha’s development model is not sustainable in 1996 to 2009. It should be transfer the mode of economic development, improve resource utilization efficiency, and promote the sustainable development of regional resources.

Résumé :
Since the exhibition is an exhibition industry, it has got so much importance by many countries. In China, the development of the said industry is wonderful. Therefore, we use the grey relational model to study the impact of convention. Moreover, the exhibition industry on regional economic development is proposed, and the concept and characteristics of exhibition industry, exhibition economy, and the research results of exhibition industry at home and abroad are expounded in detail. Then, according to the influence mechanism of exhibition industry on regional economy, the grey relational model is used to analyze the economic development of Changsha from 2012 to 2016. The analysis disclosed that the exhibition industry remained the main driving force of Changsha’s economic development in these five years, which effectively promoted the economic development and the benign growth of various industries in Changsha.

Résumé :
This paper constructs an evaluation index system for the suitability of community home and institutional elderly care land development, respectively, from different elderly care modes with the data of urban POI, OSM road network, and expert questionnaires in Changsha urban area in 2021, in order to alleviate the pressure of insufficient land for elderly care brought on by the increasingly serious aging problem. The suitability evaluation index system is based on the intersection of Thiessen polygons with the current elderly care facilities as the center point as the supplementary land for the elderly and explores the optimization path of the land for the elderly in combination with the existing residential land in Changsha. The results show the following: ① The spatial variation of land suitability for both community home and institutional elderly facilities is significant, exhibiting a pattern of “high in the middle and low in the surroundings, with high-value areas clustered in the center of the city, decreasing in suitability toward the periphery, and occasional scattered clusters in the suburbs.” Among them, Furong District has the highest proportion of suitable areas for the elderly; ② Utilizing Changsha’s Tianxin and Yuhua districts as case studies, the optimal path of land use for the elderly are investigated to provide a foundation for land use planning for the elderly in Changsha.

Résumé :
In this study, we used a complex network analysis to examine the accessibility features of changing road networks in historic urban areas. We aimed to discover the pattern of evolution after studying the accessibility of the road network in the Changsha historic urban area over four periods of time. The results were as follows: the layout of the urban road network shows repetitive cluster–parent–subsidiary development, which provides evidence of adaptive adjustment in urban road development; vulnerability has been kept low in the changing urban road network, while the spatial framework of the Changsha historic center is fixed; the evolving urban road network generally shows a deteriorating level of stability, which is largely affected by the shape of the network; the degree centrality (1877, 1.87%; 1917, 1.32%; 1987, 1.85%; 2021, 1.51%) of the urban road network shows a decreasing trend, meaning that the network is generally becoming more balanced in its evolution; and the accessibility of land plots currently used to preserve cultural relics and historic sites remains at a medium to low level, and improvements are needed for some plots. In analyzing the changing accessibility of urban roads in the historic center of Changsha city, two major problems for road renewal were identified: (1) unbalanced development of the urban space due to capital-based projects and (2) providing an appropriate increase in plot accessibility while putting equal emphasis on the protection of the spatial framework in the historic urban area. We conclude that a dynamic review of urban road network accessibility and its targeted optimization are of great significance for the protection and development of Changsha’s historic urban area.

Women in Changsha are patronizing coffee-houses, ordering beverages and sweets, and disliking the taste of the expensive product purchased. This thesis is an exploratory research study conducted in Changsha, China with a consumer behavior focus. It uses primary surveys and interviews in addition to secondary sources from books, articles, and academic journals. It seeks to identify underlying motives for purchasing behavior from working women in the developing third-tier city Changsha, Hunan, China. It delves into the psychology of the working women who spend their hard-earned discretionary incomes at costly western chain coffee-houses. The inland mass-market consumer class feels the desire to project their newly established status while needing to save money for their personal future, their children’s schooling, and their parent’s retirement. They must wisely spend discretionary income while satisfying social societal norms. An individual’s self-concept plays and important role in determining which coffee shop she will frequent and what she will order. Daylight Donuts, Starbucks, Costa Coffee and local café’s all serve brewed coffee but they have different associations. This study aims at understanding the influencing factors associated with coffee-house brand equity and how the consumer’s perception of the brand forms her purchasing behavior. All coffee-house brands are relatively new in Changsha, none existing more than seven years. They do not have lasting ties with the community and need to create consumer relationships to ensure sustainability. Changsha women are bold and strong willed. If a corporation is to succeed in the future of Hunan, it will need to create an environment of hospitality excellence, place socially responsible roots in the society, and ask its customers what they want.

Résumé :
This thesis constitutes an explication of tourism marketing in P.R. China. It identified the predominant factors at influence the marketing operations of Chinese travel agencies and explored the marketing mix approaches adopted by them. By studying Changsha, the research revealed that tourism marketing in China is a complex phenomenon. The great geographical and cultural distances mean the marketing theories, which are widely utilized in western countries, could have different effects on the oriental developing country. An even more important distinction is that China is a socialist country but the reforms have begun to introduce the capitalistic market economy from the end of 1970' s. Central government protected the travel agency market and significantly influenced the business for 20 years. The marketing concept is a new idea for Chinese entrepreneurs in tourism industry, therefore they are learning to utilize the tool to achieve their goals. With China's entry into the WTO (World Trade Organisation) at Nov. 2001, it meant that every travel agency in China would face the new challenges and opportunities in a free market environment. Based on a combination of research methods with semi-structured interviews, observations and the review of secondary data, the research provides a picture of the current market situation of the Changsha travel agency industry. It reveals that the role of Chinese travel agencies is larger than that of those in western countries. Travel agencies in Changsha work as the organiser, retailer, educator and advocator in the industry. They have begun to use the integrated marketing mix tools to maintain their marketing share and keep on improving their management and technical skills.

Résumé :
With rapid urban development in China, many cities are still concerned about the quantity of the economy growth while ignoring the quality of the growth; ecological systems face a challenging situation. How to evaluate and guide a sustainable devel-opment is a vitally important question to the government of China. The study was partly performed in cooperation with the Institute of Building Research (IBR), who was entrusted by Changsha government of the Hunan Province. To evaluate the sus-tainability of urban development, a comprehensive indicator system was developed and applied, which was consistent to the policy of the so called "Two oriented socie-ty", which means Resource conservation and Environment friendly society. This pa-per shows a logic methodology to develop an indicator system – through the re-search, from literature review to modern concept; it shows clearly the factors that are important to build a sustainable city. The indicator system was derived and compared with other existing systems. The comparison showed that the indicator system we developed for the city is operational and integrated with a consistent hierarchy. Thereafter, the established indicator sys-tem was evaluated using an Analytical Hierarchy Process methodology. Indictors of ecological aspects were evaluated using the data collected, including the Changsha green field map, wetland map and ecological control maps. The indicator system was applied and the result was used as decision support in urban planning for 2020. How-ever, a main limitation lied in data collection: since the data we collected was not completely the data we expected. Besides, the indicator system was developed on the base of the policy called the "Two oriented society",which has its preference and limi-tation itself. Still, in sum, the indicator system we built through the research provided a satisfactory framework to the government to guide the development of the society in a macro scale. It needs future involvement to improve the data collection and standardization.

Résumé :
China has among the world’s fastest growing urban region and faced enormous environmental and social challenges that requires a forward thinking of urban planning, which integrates environmental sustainability and social equity into urban resilience. In China, national and provincial urban policies have long focused on economic and industrial developments, whereas social welfare was not account for urban planning until very recently. After decades of rapid socioeconomic development, China has now entered an urbanization stage at which social development becomes as urgent as economic and environmental transformation. Rural migrant as a lower social group is a product of China’s rigorous rural-urban household registration (Hukou) that has caused plenty of social tragedies. Although governmental authorities have vowed to elevate rural migrants’ social status, as a heterogeneous social group, rural migrants received very little research attention by far. To examine rural migrants’ demographic information and their social status, this research employs happiness as a theme to carry out a questionnaire survey. In total, 1,267 responses were collected at bus and train stations in Changsha, a second-tier city located in the middle of China. According to the survey, rural migrants’ happiness status is in close relation with some demographic characteristics such as gender, ethnicity and education. In general, men are unhappier than women; the ethnic minorities are unhappier than the ethnic majority-Han; and the highly educated are unhappier than those with lower educational attainment. By performing a stepwise regression, statistics uncover that rural migrants’ happiness status in Changsha is positively associated with a stable income, a job with insurance and a well sustained family tie. Based on the study results, I propose three suggestions for social urban planning in China’s second-tier cities: (1) to set up a commercial district that embraces diverse ethnic groups, where the minor ethnic rural migrants can work and live with their own cultures. (2) To gather rural migrants by industry and establish labour unions that can represent for rural migrants’ interests. (3) To maintain the discriminated Hukou system, but define Hukou identity based on rural migrants’ taxation conditions.     Keywords: rural migrants, demographic characteristics, happiness factors, social urban planning

Résumé :
This study investigates variable noun phrase number agreement (VNA) in two second language varieties of Portuguese, spoken in Maputo, Mozambique and in Mindelo, Cape Verde. Quantitative VARBRUL analysis is carried out based on recordings made in Maputo and Mindelo 2007 and 2008. Previous quantitative studies on VNA in varieties of Brazilian Portuguese (Guy, 1981; Lopes, 2001; Andrade, 2003) as well as on VNA in first and second language varieties of Portuguese from São Tomé (Baxter, 2004; Figueiredo, 2008, 2010) indicate contact between Portuguese and African languages as the main origin of this phenomenon. VNA in Brazilian Portuguese is, however, interpreted by Scherre (1988) and Naro & Scherre (1993, 2007) as the result of language internal drift. Varieties of Portuguese from Mozambique and Cape Verde are particularly interesting to contrast in order to investigate influences from African languages on VNA, as in Mozambique Bantu languages are first languages of the vast majority of Portuguese speakers, whereas in Cape Verde, practically all Portuguese speakers are first language speakers of Cape Verdean Creole, whose substrates are West African, and not Bantu, languages. Comparison is also made with previous studies from Brazil and São Tomé. The results of this study comment previously postulated explanations for VNA in Portuguese in various ways. The analysis of the variables onset age and age stratum indicates that VNA in the analyzed varieties is a phenomenon linked to the acquisition of Portuguese as a second language and/or language contact rather than the result of internal drift. The fact that all the compared varieties tend to mark plural on pre-head components contradicts Bantu transfer as an explanation for this pattern, and raises the need to also consider more general explanations based on language contact. The basic structural similarity between the compared varieties suggests the existence of a grammatical restructuring continuum.
