Thesis, Strasbourg, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018STRAG043.
Texte intégralThe thesis proposes, on the one hand, to sociologically question transition as a category of analysis and, on the other hand, to analyze courses of high-level Moroccan sportsmen to verify by proof the different strategies of conversion. In the career of high level athletes, stopping the practice remains random because it is linked to several events that partly escape the athlete. The sociological understanding of the stopping of sport and then transition leads us to study the careers and social paths of a sample of high-level Moroccan athletes in order to explain personal and social repositioning and to understand the different strategies of transition. Therefore, thanks to this qualitative survey, several factors are analyzed: the paths, modes of socialization and personal course of the sportsmen, the types of sport and their symbolic and economic impact in Morocco, the beliefs and the moral credit granted by the sports institution and Moroccan society for high-level athletes, the role of parents in the monitoring of their career, or the level of commitment of sports and ministerial structures that accompany the retraining of top athletes

Texte intégralThe professional sportsperson who is employed by a sporting firm is generally considered nowadays as a bona fide worker, legally entitled to all of his or her rights and debtor of all the obligations entailed from the existence of a work contract. Yet for a long time the term ‘work contract’ seemed incongruous, given the originality and the normative environment pertaining specifically to the sportsperson.Indeed the legal situation of the wage-earning sportsperson (that is to say all his or her rights and obligations) is very specific; the issue of the transfers and loans of players between clubs, that of the provisioning of an athlete to a federation or of the commercial exploitation of a sportsperson’s image can be far removed from the standard issues of labour law.Appearances are however deceiving. The professional sportsperson is first and foremost a worker, admittedly one who is in a specific situation, but one for whom the application of labour law is justified, except in the case of more favourable conditions. A professional sportsperson’s work contract is subject to the requirements of state law; only when sporting data is taken into account can these requirements be adapted. These specificities in the sporting work relationship deserve to be studied, for the issues concerning training, the implementation and the breach of a sportsperson work contract require answers that are adapted to his or her employment conditions
Vallet, Guillaume. « Le sens sexué d’une pratique sportive extrême : le cas des pratiquants de bodybuiding ». Paris, EHESS, 2014. https://halshs.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-01258493.
Texte intégralThis thesis aims to understand the sexual sense of bodybuilding for male heterosexual bodybuiders. Thanks to qualitative methodology, we figure out that a strong and significant link exists between the motive to enter the practice and the feeling of a weak gendered identity. Howerver such a link is evolutionary, in particular when the individuals strengthen their commitment in the “carreer” of bodybuilder. That doesn’t mean that the gendered identity issue disappears, because the sense given to the work in bodybuilding has ties with professional work wich also plays a role in the gendered interactions. Such a result is highly relevant, because it allows us to concluse that the main stakes relative to the gendered identity issue concern a competition between men and not directly between men and women
Sekulovic, Adriana. « Profession : agent sportif : contribution à une théorie des modèles professionnels ». Thesis, Paris 10, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013PA100023/document.
Texte intégralThis thesis views sports agents as actors evolving in a dynamic, complex and multi-dimensional work environment. Profession, occupation and work, these three terms, although often used interchangeably yet, remain amphibological given their extreme polysemy. The object of this research arises in light of that ambivalence as a study of an atypical profession with an uncompleted status, teetering between regulation and autonomy. The first section of the study aims to help specify and clarify the terminology being used. In doing so, using the literature from the sociology of professions, it provides a starting point for a suitable theoretical framework that could be applied to the profession of sports agent or to the (sports) agency practice, as a whole. The occupational model of sports agent is framed in such a way that the professional self-regulation is restricted by Sports governing Bodies and State regulatory interventions. Therefore we propose to re-examine the organization and regulation of the sports agents’ activities. The findings indicate significant differences between the regulations applicable to sports agents. The inefficiency of the current regulations whether they are enacted by national sports federations, international sports federation or by the State is closely related to the internal professional dynamics that these regulations disturb. The thesis examines therefore the tasks of sports agents, the individuals that carry them out, and the variable and inconstant connections that tie one to the other. In this respect, as a means of a more accurate conceptualization of its object of analysis, this research describes sports agents’ activities quantitatively and qualitatively, exploring various dimensions and aspects such as the foundations of the profession, the social role of sports agents, the different typologies of sports agents and the occupational tasks accomplished by each. It also highlights the international scope of sports agents’ activities
Thesis, Reims, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012REIML014.
Texte intégralThe high-level sportsmen cross all phases of transitions more or less good negotiated in their sporting career, that it's normative or not normative transitions. This thesis examines the impact of these transitions on the decision-making and adaptive processes of the high-level sportsman which lead him to make a choice rather than the other one during a key moment of its career (e.g. sportsman, professional, social). Three studies of this thesis join mainly within the framework of a développementale approach of the career development of high-level sportsmen (Wylleman, Lavallee & Alfermann, 1999) and rest on the model of Push-Pull, Anti Push, Anti Pull (Schultz, Mullet and al, 1998). The first part of this thesis was interested in the continuation since around ten years of the careers of high-level sportsmen continuing beyond the age of thirty years, as well as in mechanisms under jacents in the preservation and in the protection of the subjective well-being. Elements of similarity bound to their personal characteristics and to their route as well as elements of peculiarity bound to the cutting and to the duration of the stages of their career appeared. The second study of this thesis concerns the route of life of the sportswomen of elite and the choice of the maternity in course of career sports and/or comment sporting career. Routes build themselves towards the meanings granted to contextual and incidental events, to aspiration and ideal staffs, in the priorities of life. The choice of the maternity oscillates between desire of a self-fulfillment through at the same time a sports blooming and a blooming of mother and superiority granted to its sports life of the other one with the absence of envy to procreate. The third study was interested in entrance to pole of training, and more particularly in facilitating or disrupting elements which accompanied the decision of the high-level sportsmen to enter or not pole and which participated in a more or less good made a success adaptation The elements which showed themselves important that they are rather positive or more negative revolve around living environment, double project, and sports project

Texte intégralThe objective of this thesis is to study the place of a sports career alongside the obligations of life from a biographical perspective. The records of the French Swimming Federation has allowed us firstly to show the influence of age and gender on the abandonment of sport during the first years of participation. Sport has to become a long-terni habit before it becomes a career. Secondly, a biographical study of competitive swimmers has allowed us to demonstrate that the place held by sport evolves through a lifetime. Educational problems have little impact on the sports career. However, the sports career is destabilised by changes in life during higher education. The position which sport takes alter this step is independent of the involvement of the swimmer. It is rather the manner in which the swimmer adapts to his new situation as a student in conjonction with the chosen field that determines the subsequent developments in his student life, sports life and professional life

Texte intégralOn the basis of interviews and of ethnographical observations realized with more than sixty professionals of sports tourism situated in Aveyron, the thesis consists of comprehending the resources necessary for the creation and for the development of the companies of sports tourism. Considering that the creation and the development of the companies of sports tourism are complex processes requiring a pluralistic approach, the contributions of the sociology of dispositions were combined to those of the sociology of careers and the sociology of the social networks. At first, we study the career of the managers of sports tourism; these last ones making a commitment at first in the " amateur's career ". Afterward, we analyse the processes of creation and development of companies, in connection with the individual careers, the resources mobilized by the actors and their access modes. Several analysis scales were considered in order to bring to light the dynamics of the social forms characterizing the market of the sports tourism

Texte intégralAgainst the perception witch associates the sportive success with some innate physical qualities, we analyse the social circumstances of the athletic success. We focalize our analysis on the social interactions and the socializing processes which characterize the high level athlete's social trajectories. In order to characterise those trajectories, we focalize on the successive stages of the athletic career which are qualified in the light of a vocational inculcation and a conversion to a particular project of life. To understand those social processes, we analysis the configurations which are less or more likely to assist the construction and the activation of an habitus defined as a dispositional system less or more adapted to the objective reality of the career. Breaking the myths of the sportive success we also analyse the high level athlete's social distribution according to their class, sex and race. Indeed, families participate to the transmission and the development of the sportive capital and their availability is a discriminating factor for the development of the sportive career. The analyse of the gender regime which takes place in the world of the high level athletic competition also reveals some processes of segregation and social distinction which have an influence on the sportive involvement. The world of the high level performance is also characterised by some processes of racial identification which define several communities which boundaries are less or more vague and permeable. In this, the involvement in the athletic career is sometimes coloured of some ethnical claims and a stigma reversal

Texte intégralThis research aims at understanding the stakes of the career transition of high-level athletes, in order to determine the obstacles to training they encounter and consequently recommend principles of accompaniment. We more specifically try and determine to what extent those athletes may mobilize their experience of uncertainty so as to embrace their career transition in the context of distance learning. For this purpose, we first describe the characteristics of the identity of high-level athletes by tackling the legacy of their history as well as the particularities of the intensive practice of sport in a competitive environment. We then analyze the implications of career transition for this specific audience. We have noticed that high-level athletes are likely to experience uncertainty through career ruptures and identity crises; in order to better understand the moving forces of that experience, we attempt to define and examine four characteristics of uncertainty, i. E. Indetermination, unpredictability, confusion of standards and uncertainty regarding knowledge. Our study then consists in analyzing four interviews with two high-level athletes in the course of career transition through distance learning. The first one is a life-story interview tracing the personal, professional and athletic path of the athletes. The second tackles their experience of training so as to observe the evolution of representations connected to the aforementioned uncertainties in their discourse. We notably conclude that career transition cannot succeed without concerted adjustment regarding this transition between all parties involved, starting with the overhauling of the notion of double projet which entangles the athletes in a certain form of guilt
Jelen, Nathalie. « La socialisation professionnelle en début de carrière : le cas d'enseignants d'EPS ». Thesis, Artois, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009ARTO0501/document.
Texte intégralThe thesis deals with the sociology of the beginning of career of the teachers in secondary school, from the case of the Physical and Sports Education, between the passing of the examination and the third year of actual professional appointment. The point here is to categorize the variables which report difficulties and those which on the contrary facilitate the first moments in the job. For that purpose, we investigated for four years with a structured sample consisting of fifty-five teachers appointed all over the academies (i.e. regional educational authorities) of Lille and Versailles. Signings of questionnaires, interviews (sixty- five), observations of the work “in progress” (ten times a week) were carried out. Five teachers were particularly « studied », even, establishing then a kind of “longitudinal follow-up”. Finally this work brings to light the tensions between the learning of the job by the official training authorities and that on the ground, between the necessities of respecting a professionnal culture and adapting to the actual teaching situations. But these proceed of diverse variables which express themselves in ambiguous manners. We suggest systematizing this complexity by showing how the teacher submits to the job in order to succeed in adapting. Will the current “masterization” of the teaching training programmes improve it ? And thus, the transmission of the knowledge and skills in Physical Education as well as the alterations which it implies at the level of the pupils ? We may wonder why the thesis does not give a definite answer to these questions. Now it is up to the reader to appreciate if it is either because of the heterogeneousness of the configurations of career debuts, thanks to the variety of the beginners’ profiles or the chosen teaching subject
Preira, Pascal. « Durer dans le métier : la carrière des footballeurs français ordinaires émigrés en Grande-Bretagne ». Thesis, Paris, EHESS, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019EHES0170.
Texte intégralThis thesis is based on a field survey of fifty French footballers emigrated to Great Britain and playing within the English and Scottish professional and semi-professional leagues. Using an interactive approach, the research analyses of how sport workers enter and remain in the profession. This work highlights anonymous sports workers and the plurality of their commitments in order to access then to keep their professional status. It studies, in particular, those whose profession is characterized by uncertainty and precariousness. All professional footballers do not have a long career. The thesis demonstrates that, in order to last in the profession(game), sports workers must overcome a set of sporting and social obstacles. Footballers learn to become professional players by multiplying professional experiences. Through this thesis, we want to make a contribution to the sociology of sports work and the sociology of sports migration
Aceti, Monica. « Devenir et rester capoeiriste en europe : transmissions interculturelles et 'mondialité' de la capoeira afro-brésilienne ». Thesis, Besançon, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011BESA1030.
Texte intégralThe spread of Brazilian capoeira in the world is supported by the increasing mobility of the actors of its transmission between Brazil and Europe, as well as the possibilities created by current information circulation (YouTube, Internet). The capoeira roda (circle) presents itself as a space of plural expressions of ‘encircled’ individualities. Out of consideration for a ‘tradition’ and ‘foundations’, the control of the group and the master is over the bodies that perform a dance-fight and reverse –hands against the ground and feet up to the sky –in a playful way almost to the point of becoming subversive regarding sports effectiveness. In this work of interviews analysis (N=134) and participating observation in fields from various locations in Europe and Brazil, we concentrated on understanding how the career of capoeiristas are generated in Europe. In an interactionist and deeply rooted perspective, we have noticed that Gilberto Freyre’s myth of miscegenation finds a second life ‘outside’. Behind this mask, a first typological model (the micro-firms) reveals a liberal, commercial and patriarchal organization. These structures now train the most deserving members of their rank in the ‘job’ of capoeirista and acknowledge them as teacher, contramestre and more recently as mestre. From a marginal and exotic activity – this intangible cultural product recently recognized as Brazilian Heritage – is now the subject of commercial tensions and territorial stakes. Some make a name for themselves by taking matters into their own hands through the use of the gancho (hook kick), others specialize in socio-cultural activities and a few mark the start of resistance: negaça (evasive move, also called ‘denial move’), malandragem (trickery) and diplomatic jugglery, such are the tools that those ‘dissident’ capoeiristas (second typology) acquired during their socialization with a hint of neo-patrimony. Others still meet around self-organized and participating exchange rodas, by creating locally their terreiros (places) of capoeira. We are witnessing a deterritorialisation process of Brazilian heritage which as the same time produces forms of intercultural relations of ‘mondialité’ referring to Édouard Glissant. Thus, this study shows that the globalization of capoeira can neither lead to a mac’homogenization, nor to its decharacterization, but to the multiple meanings of ways of being and acting of women and men capoeiristas according to three typological models: the patriarchal micro-firms, the néopatrimonial dissidents and the participatory exchange networks
Thesis, Paris 10, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019PA100105.
Texte intégralThis thesis focuses on the careers of athletes who practice two multidisciplinary sports: combined events (heptathlon/decathlon) in athletics and the modern pentathlon. I adopt an interactionist approach that explores all the analytical and methodological implications contained in the notion of career (Becker, 1985; Darmon, 2003). In doing this, I study precisely these careers in high performance sports. Despite the multidisciplinary dimension of the analysed sports, the corresponding careers will still be based on the phase of specialisation. This follows phases of “discovery” and “introduction”, and precedes phases of “development” and “recognition” of an expertise. Therefore, multi-faceted versatility appears as a full speciality in and of itself that shall be thought of as a process within an institutional framework rather than as an intrinsic and individual characteristic. The thesis brings forth additional results about:- the social and institutional construct of disciplinary specialisation,- the processes of sports reorientation, - the fact that sport training creates specific social configurations, - gender inequalities in the recognition of the versatility of an athlete- and the need to conceptualise inverse family socialisations to understand parental commitments in the sports practice of their children. The analysis is based on a multi-sited ethnography (Marcus, 1995) which I have used within different federal structures, and where I have observed a total of 67 days of training and competitions, and developed 40 semi-structured interviews. I have also created several databases to implement sequence analyses, read federal documentation and made a discursive analysis of the televised transmission of 2016 Olympics Games

Texte intégralOur research project is a sociological investigation into the careers of physical education (PE) teachers in Ireland. Our enquiry focuses firstly on an enhanced analysis of the literature within the context of the newly established Republic of Ireland. Secondly, it draws on extensive qualitative interviews of female PE teachers which reveal women teachers lacking legitimization within their own profession. It does this by setting standards rooted in the notion of the perfect athlete, supported by input from the military and medical worlds. This in turn is subject to the interdependence of the Catholic Church and the state. H.S Becker’s approach to the concept of career allows for a diachronic and synchronic interpretation of the data collected. Here, the choices made by the female PE teacher and the rationale behind them are clarified. This enquiry also aims to understand the development of womanhood in its varied forms when both the educational environment and the body are subject to religious tradition. We therefore developed a typology (Max Weber) of our respondents' careers and identified a ‘stable’ type of career, a ‘breaking’ type and a ‘progressive’ one. Our findings here suggest an ambivalence in the careers of PE teachers in Ireland – characterised first by a transgression of gender norms when practising sports. However, through their commitment, female PE teachers have achieved a tenacious spirit in the face of gender stereotypes and their influence on education
