Résumé :
Student teaching abroad is becoming increasingly popular in many colleges and universities in the United States. This experience can be highly rewarding in terms of developing pre-service teachers’ culture competency, yet can pose challenges for faculty monitoring such placements. Stewart and Kagan (2005) suggest a framework for teacher preparation programs that have recognized the value of international experiences gained when students participate in host countries’ classrooms. This qualitative research collective case study examined the use of a wiki discussion forum as a technology supported communication tool rooted in engagement theory for pre-service teachers to better communicate reflections, questions, or concerns they may have in working with their students during international pre-service teacher experiences. This paper reports the results of an analysis of data collected from an instructor-prompted wiki discussion board used by three student cohorts that participated in international field placements. Results indicated that online technology facilitated student engagement in the experience and that the international placement fostered the development of their cultural competency.

Résumé :
This essay examines the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA’s) role in the entry of hydrological isotopic analysis techniques into the developing world. The notion of using radioisotopic tracers for hydrological study came from the initiative of individual scientists, many of whom were interested in measuring the uptake of hydrogen-bomb deposited tritium in the global environment. Their proposals to include isotope hydrology among the range of IAEA activities sparked debate in the IAEA Scientific Advisory Committee and Board of Governors. At stake was not merely the future support of the technique, but the diplomatic role of the IAEA as a provider of atomic energy to the developing world, the relationship of the IAEA to other international institutions, and the articulation of what ‘peaceful uses of atomic energy’ really meant. In the end, the IAEA opted to render conditional support for the landmark Global Network of Isotopes in Precipitation and undertook sponsorship of expert panels that brought together isotope specialists and hydrologists. As the essay shows, the IAEA’s agenda for isotope hydrology was not only a matter of technology, linked to instrumentation and technique. As a form of policy entrepreneurship, it also gave the IAEA a new diplomatic role in the larger network of international institutions.

Résumé :
The paper presents an analysis of a prospective international standard SpaceFibre for on board data exchange for different types of aircraft. Paper provides the rationale for using of this standard for new generation on-board networks. The obtained results are based on many years of experience with the SpaceWire/SpaceFibre family of open international standards. The authors present the main problems of SpaceFibre, as well as ways to solve them. The first problem is related to the use of multi-channel data transmission in prospective Russian projects, as well as the need to increase throughput using existing equipment and physical cables. It is necessary to develop new transmission methods and algorithms and create a completely Russian version of the multilane level for the described standard. The second problem relates to the organization of data transmission in SpaceFibre networks with a large number of nodes and a complex scheme of data transfer flows, it is a consequence of an insufficiently developed network level of the standard. The authors give possible ways to solve the identified inconsistences of the standard using the concept of software-reconfigurable networks. The finalization of the SpaceFibre standard in terms of the discussed problems will improve the efficiency of the protocol itself, as well as take into account all possible comments before the stage of creating of a Russian State Standard for SpaceFibre.

Résumé :
AbstractAdvances across the chemical and biological (life) sciences are increasingly enabled by ideas and tools from sectors outside these disciplines, with information and communication technologies playing a key role across 21st century scientific development. In the face of rapid technological change, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the implementing body of the Chemical Weapons Convention (“the Convention”), seeks technological opportunities to strengthen capabilities in the field of chemical disarmament. The OPCW Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) in its review of developments in science and technology examined the potential uses of emerging technologies for the implementation of the Convention at a workshop entitled “Innovative Technologies for Chemical Security”, held from 3 to 5 July 2017, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event, organized in cooperation with the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine of the United States of America, the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and the Brazilian Chemical Society, was attended by 45 scientists and engineers from 22 countries. Their insights into the use of innovative technological tools and how they might benefit chemical disarmament and non-proliferation informed the SAB’s report on developments in science and technology for the Fourth Review Conference of the Convention (to be held in November 2018), and are described herein, as are recommendations that the SAB submitted to the OPCW Director-General and the States Parties of the Convention. It is concluded that technologies exist or are under development that could be used for investigations, contingency, assistance and protection, reducing risks to inspectors, and enhancing sampling and analysis.

Résumé :
I thank Co-Editors Ass. Prof. Dr. Jože Kropivšek and Prof. Dr. Katarina Čufar for the opportunity to serve as an Editorial Board member of Les/Wood, an international journal firmly grounded in the broad sweep of Slovene wood science and technology. The Editorial Board works to extend the relevance and impact of Les/Wood within and beyond Slovenia to the international community of wood science and technology in the broadest sense. We see the journal as a tool to support research and development of specific technologies, as well as to develop common terminology. I would like to use this opportunity to sketch out how I came to be involved with wood science in Slovenia. In retrospect that involvement seems inevitable, but the path was not always clear at the time! After completing my postgraduate education in plant pathology and mycology in the USA in 1982, I accepted my current position as supervisory plant physiologist for the USDA Forest Service, a US federal land management agency with a strong commitment to research & development and to international forestry. Throughout my career, my personal research has involved tree growth and wood decay in response to injury, infection, and environmental change. These tree responses affect forest health, the economic value of wood for art and industry, the tree-ring record of environmental conditions, and the performance of trees in urban and community environments. My USDA FS mentor and colleague Dr. Walter Shortle met Prof. Dr. Niko Torelli and Prof. Dr. Katarina Čufar at the IAWA conference in Hamburg (1983) and at the IUFRO World Conference 1996 in Ljubljana, where the two of them were local organizers. Afterwards they obtained a joint Yugoslav American Project, “Possible alterations of wood in air polluted trees”, which defined my earlier collaborations with Professor Torelli and Katarina Čufar on silver fir decline in Slovenia and Europe. Later, Katarina Čufar, Dr. Tom Levanič, and I identified changes in the climatic responses of silver fir in Slovenia and of red spruce in the northeastern US. I also worked with Dr. Primož Oven on special considerations for the health and safety of city trees. Later, Katarina Čufar and I both served on the Executive Council of the Tree Ring Society, an international association for dendrochronological research. We co-taught a tree biology section at the Dendro Fieldweek as part of the World Dendro conference 2010 in Finland. We found that our combination of research experience both intensified and broadened our understanding and presentation of wood structure and function. Since then, we have worked to provide Slovene students and scientists a platform to share techniques and experiences that both extend the science and community of scientists in the international research community. As an active researcher, I see Les/Wood as noteworthy because of the potential breadth of articles reporting on topics from wood mechanical properties to technologies and industrial processing to underlying anatomy and the biological processes that result in wood formation and preservation. In addition to the high level of scholarship and technical expertise within Les/Wood, I find collegiality of spirit, openness of approach, and pride of history and context. These qualities lift up and support ongoing and future research for Slovenia, its geographic surroundings, and the broader world research community. I’m excited at the prospect of Les/Wood extending its traditional strengths to meet the critical need for wood science to optimize wood utilization, ecological understanding, and cultural patrimony.

Résumé :
Silicon Pore Optics (SPO) is a new X-ray optics technology under development in Europe, forming the ESA baseline technology for the International X-ray Observatory candidate mission studied jointly by ESA, NASA, and JAXA. With its matrix-like structure, made of monocrystalline-bonded Silicon mirrors, it can achieve the required angular resolution and low mass density required for future large X-ray observatories. Glass-based Micro Pore Optics (MPO) achieve modest angular resolution compared to SPO, but are even lighter and have achieved sufficient maturity level to be accepted as the X-ray optic technology for instruments on board the Bepi-Colombo mission, due to visit the planet Mercury. Opportunities for technology transfer to ground-based applications include material science, security and scanning equipment, and medical diagnostics. Pore X-ray optics combine high performance with modularity and economic industrial production processes, ensuring cost effective implementation.

Résumé :
AbstractAstronomy and space science education had been given least importance by Nepalese government in the past. The modern astronomy movement is believed to have started when an official observation programme of Haley's comet was organized by Royal Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (RONAST) in 1986. Following the huge pressure from the scientific community, the Nepal government (Kingdom of Nepal at that time) established B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory and Science Museum Development Board in 1992. Initiatives of the project started with observatory set up and the development of astrophysics syllabus for university students. Astrophysics is included as an elective paper in the Physics masters course. The lead astrophysicist of Nepal Dr. Binil Aryal is running a research group in Tribhuvan University since 2005 which has a significant number of international publications. The developing government initiatives and achievements will be discussed. In 2007, a group of astronomy enthusiastic students along with amateurs working independently in past established Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO), which surprisingly increased the amateur activities and inspired other amateur groups to revive. During IYA 2009, more than 80 outreach and observation events were organized solely by NASO. NASO was able to collaborate with many international programmes and projects like GHOU/GTTP, EurAstro, AWB, UNAWE, SGAC, Star Peace, TWAN etc during and beyond IYA2009. Currently Nepal is recognized as the most eventful country of outreach and astronomy education among the amateur community. The success story of the astronomy movement and the local difficulties while organizing the events will be explained.

Résumé :
Monitoring of the state and behavior of spacecraft subsystems based on telemetry data is designed to continuously perform the tasks of controlling, controlling and maintaining the technical characteristics of a spacecraft. Increasing requirements for the characteristics of monitoring methods inevitably leads to a revision of the control technologies used and the need to create a scientific and technical reserve in the form of approaches, methods and technologies for building promising competitive space technology, including: technologies for building integrated information support for solving the problems of monitoring spacecraft subsystems; applied object-oriented systems of artificial intelligence, neural networks and high-performance computing for control, diagnostics and decision support. Currently, the following issues of monitoring the fault tolerance and reliability of space systems are relevant: the development of concepts for flight control centers that control multi-satellite systems and imply high reliability, processing of extra-large amounts of information, autonomy of operation, transfer offunctions on board, reduced human participation in control; analysis of possible failures; substantiation of the use of the on-board system for diagnostics, monitoring and localization of failures and malfunctions, restoration of working capacity; ensuring the maximum achievable (close to absolute) safety, eliminating the catastrophic consequences of possible failures of individual elements and subsystems; development and improvement of the methodology for setting requirements, assessing and controlling the quality and reliability of spacecraft and their components; improvement of international standardization of commercial rocket and space technology; optimal integrated risk management of space activities. The work is devoted to the control and diagnostics of subsystems of communication and orientation of the spacecraft. An artificial neural network, pair and multiple correlation functions are used as a mathematical apparatus to support the operator's decision making. It is shown that the methods make it possible to detect malfunctions and failures of sensors in real time. Calculations based on data obtained from spacecraft sensors are presented.

Résumé :
Governance has been identified by many scholars as a challenge to managing natural resources in a sustainable way. In addition, climate change is impacting natural resources, and complicating management. In light of these concerns, it is important that key characteristics of sustainable management are not ignored. Scientific legitimacy, an integrative ecosystem approach, long-term monitoring and pro-active governance are all important characteristics of successful sustainable management plans. However, these characteristics have not all been included in the day-to-day functioning of the International Joint Commission. This paper looks specifically at the key characteristics required for sustainable management of transboundary water resources and determines if the International Joint Commission, and particularly the International Rainy Lake Board of Control, are applying them to policies for regulation and management of border waters shared by Ontario (Canada) and Minnesota (USA).

Résumé :
Wargames go back to the beginnings of human civilization and continuously accompany its development, shaping the course of history for over three thousand years. Organized and conducted in various forms, they influenced and created interstate and international relations in the diplomatic and military, economic and social dimensions. Countries, wanting to secure their vital interests and striving to preserve or expand their spheres of influence, used and still use wargames in their decision-making processes. Wargames, initially taking the form of simple board games, thanks to research and scientific achievements (including initially the development of print, maps, game theory, computer technology etc.), have today taken the form of professional tools allowing for the optimization of the use of the most often limited resources in the decision-making process, both in the institutional dimension (governmental and non-governmental organizations) and emotional (in social and interpersonal relations). As the course and support of decision-making processes plays an extremely important role in the security sciences, experience and historical analysis show that wargames have been and are also an essential tool for shaping the state's security.

Résumé :
In analytical chemistry laboratories, to gather in the shortest time as many data as possible with the utmost accuracy and precision, high throughput automated setups are indispensable. In the present study, to determine the chloride concentration in the international Scheldt river basin district, experiments are carried out utilizing a thermostatically controlled semi-automated setup. A novel ICT-based method is developed using a low-cost multifunction Data Acquisition Board (DAQ) controlled by a homebuilt LabVIEW™ program. Specifically, this approach enables a correlation between different parameters i.e., droplet volume, temperature, A/D voltage conversions. Here, processing experimental data of a potentiometric precipitation titration utilizing a silver nitrate standard solution as titrant in a manual burette equipped with a controllable electronic valve allows for a preliminary indication of the titration end point via the Virtual Instrument (VI) numerical first derivative tool in the LabVIEW software. The LabVIEW tool is compared with the well-known Gran method implemented in the LabVIEW program, emphasizing an accurate performance of the setup to determine the chloride concentration in fresh river water. We are confident that our findings are evidence of the versatile and powerful features of the LabVIEW controlled DAQ in the analytical chemistry laboratory.

Résumé :
This article focuses on some of the historical innovation institutional infrastructures in Zimbabwe that supported the genesis of a vibrant maize sector, and analyses institutions for technology, policy, skills, knowledge development and attendant financing mechanisms. We discuss the country’s maize innovation ecosystems, focusing on the technological capabilities in breeding and extension services, the architecture of financial institutions to support agriculture, and bridging institutions that supported technology adoption and innovation diffusion. In the process, we highlight elements of co-evolution, co-specialisation, collaboration and linkages amongst innovation communities for maize over a period spanning the pre- and post-independence eras. Our discussion covers the uneven colonial institutional, technological and financial support availed to white commercial farmers and how the shift in focus of government policy and support post-independence, resulted in the centre of gravity shifting to communal farmers, who now contribute the bulk of maize production. We discuss the critical roles played by Agritex (a technology broker and accelerator) and a state procurement agent (the Grain Marketing Board) as a market creator and signalling tool, as well as how specialised agriculture financing by state and commercial banks supported the rise of maize as a food security crop. Our key argument is that there were focused knowledge and technology flows between government research institutions, the private sector and others, such as the Seed Maize Association, which was involved in seed multiplication and marketing to the white commercial farmers pre-independence. This relationship shifted after independence in order to support small-scale commercial farmers, who were mainly black farmers.

Résumé :
Technological change in the UK herring industry took place rapidly after 1965, due in part to the active encouragement encouragement given to fishermen to switch from driftnetting to pelagic trawling and purse-seining. The adoption and diffusion of these modern methods of capture stimulated a major expansion of output, but this very success was undermined by the depletion of the fish-stocks on which the industry depended. In the case of the West of Scotland herring fisheries, which were especially important to UK fishermen, the decline in fish-stock biomass caused vessel catch-rates to fall after 1973. The failure of international fisheries management, which acted as a permissive factor in the intensification of fishing effort, also had important economic implications as it resulted in the dissipation of resource-rent. The Authors calculate that the maximum sustainable ‘rent’ which could have been generated from the West of Scotland herring fishery was approximately £14 millions per annum at 1976-equivalent prices. The resource-rent effectively financed the overcapitalization of the fleet and the decline which followed, and it is the speed with which this occurred that most distinguishes the herring fishery from others where technological change has taken place. The article concludes by arguing that, although the UK public authorities (notably the Herring Industry Board) might reasonably be criticized for pursuing a development strategy which resulted in economic and biological over-fishing, the international regime of fisheries management which prevailed at the time gave them little choice but to adopt a pro-active approach to technical innovation.

Résumé :
One way in which international water operator partnerships can contribute to capacity development is through the exchange of experiences with water institutions in different countries. This paper looks at a partnership between water operators in the Netherlands and Malawi to see to what extent institutional experiences in the Netherlands can contribute to capacity development of the Lilongwe Water Board in Malawi. For this, it combines insights from policy transfer, with a conceptual framework based on the Institutional Analysis and Development framework. Stylized game theoretic models are used to analyze in-depth the institutional (dis)incentives that contribute to improved performance for customers. Experiences in the Netherlands are analyzed by studying four specific action situations, such as asset management at drinking water company Vitens NV. Potential lessons are derived from this, which are evaluated for potential transfer to Malawi. The analysis suggests ways in which improved information gathering and data management can support allocation of investment and budgets for operation and maintenance. Furthermore, it suggests ways to increase the frequency of encounters between government and financing institutions and water utilities, as well as the use of a system of benchmarking to provide a platform for sharing best practices and to create competition.

Résumé :
Over the last 20 years the Australian sheep industry, particularly the lamb meat sector, has undergone a major change in focus such that consumer requirements are a paramount determinant for production and processing developments. As a result automatic accurate methods of measuring carcasses for traits like fatness and meat yield have been important to aid a reduction by industry in carcass fat levels in line with domestic and international consumer demand. This occurred while carcass weight increased due to a range of genetic and production factors implemented on-farm. Further to this in the last 5–7 years there has been a dramatic increase in the adoption of electrical technologies based on new methodologies with a shift in focus onto eating quality. Underlying this new approach was the electrical stimulation of individual carcasses on segmented electrodes in a dose-responsive way with electricity that has short pulse widths and low to medium voltages and is thus much safer than the original high voltage systems. This technology allowed stimulation units to be fitted into abattoirs where this was not previously possible and validation showed that the technology could reduce toughness in lamb destined for the domestic market and some export markets. More recent technology to stretch and shape cuts shows promise for improving both the quality and product range from sheep and lamb carcasses. The industry continues to focus on meat quality and has shown a significant increase in exports, while maintaining per-capita domestic consumption at record retail prices. This indicates an industry where research investment across the board has shown significant returns.

Résumé :
Genebanks are storehouses of genetic resources which have the primary responsibility of collecting, regenerating, conserving, characterizing, evaluating, documenting and distributing germplasm. With reference to plant genetic resources (PGR), today over 1,750 genebanks have been established worldwide, wherein 7.4 million accessions are maintained as ex situ collections in either seed banks, field genebanks, in vitro genebanks and/or cryogenebanks. To ensure that PGR are conserved in genebanks under recognized and appropriate conditions globally, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in collaboration with the International Board of Plant Genetic Resources (IBPGR) published the original Genebank Standards in 1994. Subsequently with advancements in science and technology, and changes in policy issues related to genetic resources, a need arose to revise the Genebank Standards. A consortium of global, regional and national stakeholders led by the FAO, Bioversity International, Global Crop Diversity Trust (GCDT), International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) andInternational Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) prepared the revised version of the Genebank Standards. During the Fourteenth Regular Session of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA) of the FAO the document on revised Genebank Standards was endorsed on 18 April 2013 and subsequently published as Genebank Standards for Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. These revised genebank standards have a universal value and utility in guiding genebank management for seeds (orthodox and non-orthodox) and vegetatively propagated crops. It can be used by genebank curators as a source of guidance for developing standard operating procedures. We have compared the draft revised Genebank Standards (2013) with the original Genebank Standards (1994) to highlight the key features, along with some historical account on genebanks and development of standards.

Résumé :
Conciliation bodies are the main European forums for alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes, providing an institutionalized opportunity to remedy consumer infringement cases quickly, cheaply and efficiently. The institution has excellent dispute resolution efficiency not only in Hungary, but also at the international level, which greatly contributes to the enforcement of the consumer protection legislation of the countries concerned. The scientific examination of the work of the bodies and the legislation related to them, the number of domestic and international scientific works resulting from them are modest, while the efficient operation of the bodies depends not only on practical and legal factors, but also on the theoretical basis. Although legislative reforms in this area have led to a number of innovations and modernizations, they have left untouched a number of theoretical and practical issues that also pose significant problems in law enforcement, such as the satisfactory settlement of cross-border disputes, electronic communication and even communication, that it is possible to involve artificial intelligence, other software solutions in decision-making or online dispute resolution within the framework of the procedure. Applied research on the operation of conciliation bodies covered bodies and bodies in Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. Due to the large number of consumer legal relations, the significance of these research results in the national economy cannot be considered negligible either. Résumé :
Abstract: Despite improvements in the quality of information disclosure in China, there remains room for further enhancement. This study focuses on companies listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board (STAR Market), with a specific emphasis on corporate business model innovation and information disclosure mechanisms. The aim is to propose recommendations for improvement to facilitate the long-term development of STAR Market-listed companies. Through these suggestions, the intention is to elevate information disclosure standards, thereby fostering transparency, investor confidence, and market efficiency. This study holds significant importance as it addresses a critical aspect of China's financial market development. By focusing on the STAR Market, a platform for innovative enterprises, the research aims to support the government's broader agenda of promoting technological innovation and nurturing a dynamic capital market. Improving information disclosure practices can attract more domestic and international investors, thereby promoting capital formation and supporting the growth of innovative enterprises. Additionally, enhancing transparency can facilitate better corporate governance practices and reduce market information asymmetry. Despite its significance, this study has certain limitations. Firstly, its findings and recommendations may not be universally applicable to all STAR Market-listed companies due to the unique characteristics and challenges of each company. Secondly, the effectiveness of the proposed recommendations may depend on various external factors, including regulatory changes, market conditions, and the willingness of companies to adopt these recommendations.

Résumé :
AbstractA large number of German economists have spoken out against the package of aid measures provided by the Member States of the European Union and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the countries within the euro area that have been facing severe financial difficulties. This includes in particular the opinion of 189 German economists on the EU debt crisis (see the plenum of German economists, 2011) and the study of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology of January 2011. Above all many German economists question whether those measures were necessary in order to prevent the emergence of contagion risks and domino effects within the European monetary union following a restructuring in one of the euro area countries. This paper illustrates the main channels of possible contagion. It emphasises how important it is, especially given the current crisis situation, to maintain the confidence of international investors in the willingness of euro area countries to honour their debt. In this respect, contract compliance on the part of highly-indebted national governments towards their creditors is essential. By contrast, if in the case of Greece for example financial market participants were to perceive a debt restructuring as a viable and politically acceptabelle option in case financial problems emerge in individual euro area countries, access to the capital markets will be harmed for the majority of these countries for many years to come.

PurposeProcess-oriented organizations are compelled to be innovative and continuously implement changes to meet customer requirements and gain a competitive advantage in accordance with the business process management approach. In the digital age, organizations develop business process support systems using agile methods and introduce adaptation skills in order to support their core business. Seamlessly integrating both practices into a coherent and practically applicable solution supporting multi-scenario processes infallibly remains a challenge. The paper aims to discuss these issues.Design/methodology/approachThe workshops identifying the key issues in an international capital group that consolidates facility management companies, as well as a related research review, have fueled a two-cycled Canonical Action Research (CAR) study.FindingsThe paper extends the current understanding of IT-enabled agility, proposing an adaptively improved infrastructure with a catalog of digital options that facilitates the composition of multi-scenario business processes.Research limitations/implicationsThe CAR was limited to the members of management board and the managers constituting the focus groups. The agile business process management (ABPM) model proposed focuses on adding novel functionalities/building new processes, leaving functionality lifecycle out-of-scope. ABPM empirical validation is limited to a single business/technical case.Practical implicationsReal-life solution for supporting dynamic business processes was delivered, as rigid IT solutions do not support quick assembly of customized business processes with abundant number of scenarios. The infrastructure enables composition of customer-tailored services based on re-usable digital options directory as well as enhances business process discrepancies/software bugs detection, reducing the cost of maintaining IT infrastructure for entire customer portfolio. A number of issues resulting from building IT solutions within a series of isolated projects with no coherent overall development strategy are mitigated.Originality/valueThe ABPM acts as a reference model for focusing on developing critical functionalities and limiting resources consumed by redundant features.

Design/methodology/approach The multivariate regression model is used for hypothesis testing. The hypotheses were examined using a sample of 768 listed observations on the Tehran Stock Exchange during 2012–2017 and by using from the multivariate regression pattern based on panel data techniques and the random-effects model. Findings The obtained results show a significant and negative relationship between management entrenchment, real and accrual earnings management, comparability and the relationship between management narcissism, overconfidence and board effort and comparability of financial statements is positive and significant. Originality/value As the present study is the pioneer study on such topics in the emerging markets, it provides valuable information concerning the intrinsic and acquired features of the management for users, analysts and legal institutions with a considerable impact on the comparability of financial statements. Moreover, this study’s results contribute significantly to the development of science and knowledge in this field and fill the gap in the literature.

Résumé :
Water shortage and the future threat posed by changing climatic conditions has intensified the need for the development of appropriate water management approaches, which aim at keeping a balance between water supply and demand. Losses from water distribution systems must be of concern to every water utility, especially in areas of our planet where water is found in very limited quantities. It is therefore imperative that water utilities apply simple and effective methodologies in accounting for water losses from their transmission and distribution systems. The Water Loss Task Force (WLTF) of the International Water Association (IWA) has established a water audit method, which traces water from its source right through the system and derives at the end the revenue and non-revenue component, in other words is a methodology for water accountability and an integrated approach to water loss control. The Water Board of Lemesos, Cyprus recognised at a very early stage the importance and significance of establishing a proper water audit system and has over the years developed its infrastructure in such a way in order to be able to account efficiently and accurately for all water produced. Reduction and control of water loss was achieved through the application of a holistic strategy based on the approach developed by the WLTF of the IWA. Integral part of this approach is the establishment and operation of DMAs.

He holds a BSc in petroleum engineering and an MSc in engineering from Cairo University and an MS and PhD in petroleum engineering with a minor in computer science from Stanford University. Let’s begin with a brief introduction of the theme you’ve selected for your presidency, Petroleum++. What will you be emphasizing? There are three elements to this theme: petroleum, the first plus, and the second plus. Let me explain them one at a time. “Petroleum” refers to the challenges petroleum engineers face now and for the foreseeable future to provide the world with the hydrocarbon energy it needs. By hydrocarbons, I mean oil and natural gas, not coal. We can think of the entities that study and predict the world’s future need for energy as three groups: the government entities like the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) and the European Union International Energy Agency (IEA); the major international operators like ExxonMobil, Shell, etc.; and the national oil companies. The predictions provided by all three groups indicate the oil and natural gas share in the energy mix may decline slightly from a little over 50% currently to a little below 50% by 2050. However, the needed volume of hydrocarbons will increase as the world population moves from around 8 billion now to about 9.8 billion in 30 years and as the standard of living continues to improve in the developing regions such as Africa and Asia. When we look at the world’s current reserves and the current technology to produce these, you can add things up and see that we must continue our technical advancements to meet the growing demand for energy.

Résumé :
The rapid development of informatics technology (IT) in healthcare in the digital era has not been in line with the development of industrial nursing informatics education in Indonesia. The discrepancy is disturbing the operational activities of nursing clinicians who stand between the need of client, business, and the quality of services. The objective is to explore the benefit to the largest components of education that have changed due to IT interventions. This research used the Case Study method. The instrument was a case management version of the American Board of Occupational Health Nursing (ABOHN). The purposive sampling population was 350 nurses and nursing students who filled a questionnaire based on the Likert Scale, focused on the influence of IT on OHN education. The supporting data was from 15 major campuses in Indonesia that have nursing majors and IT departments, also from ABOHN and other OHN international bodies. The data was processed by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 25 version, in the table of Pearson Correlation. Gamification and Fogg's Behavior models were used to identify the influence of IT on OHN education. The data analysis showed a significant impact of IT on OHN education with a value of 0.782. The Influence of IT towards OHN learning materials based on Gamification and Fogg’s Models also showed of 9 OHN competency categories (100%), indicating the need for IT support was absolute. Case management result projected that the application of Gamification with Fogg's model with the application of IT on the OHN education proved the magnitude influence of IT on 8 components, i.e.: teaching methods, learning materials, learning methods, students’ learning interests, campus facilities, lecturer’s competencies, campus management, and the education curriculum. The IT intervention will simplify the OHN education system, provide more effective, and efficient OH nursing practice in the workplace.
