Résumé :
Many indoor-housed cows isolate at calving when given the opportunity, and calving behaviors vary by blind and pen design. The objectives of this study were to determine if cows preferred calving in a visibly separated (blind) or an open area of a group maternity pen, and if there was a preference for the degree of seclusion provided by the blind (50% vs. 100% coverage). Two calving blinds were provided in a group calving pen, and the amount of visibility through the blinds was created using firehoses secured from the top of a metal frame that lined the entire front of the blind (100%) or with every other hose rolled up (50%). Holstein cows and heifers (n = 79) were enrolled into a dynamic group calving pen 21 ± 3 d before calving. Calving location, the difference in blind use prior to calving compared to a baseline period, and social behaviors were recorded using video observation. There was no difference in the number of cows that calved in or outside of a blind (28 vs. 37 calvings, respectively). Cows were more likely to calve in a blind during the day than at night and as the number of cows in the pen increased. For cows who calved in a blind, there was no preference for calving in the 50% or 100% blind (10 vs. 18, respectively). Providing a varied environment for intensively managed cattle can improve their welfare by allowing cows the opportunity to perform natural behaviors and choice over their environment.

Résumé :
The researcher conducted a research entitled (Psychological and social problems of the blinds, a field study in Sulaymaniyah city.) Further, regardless of the gender, the research aims to reveal the psychological and social problems of the blind in Sulaymaniyah. The researcher relied on qualitative method based on semi-open interviews to collect data and information. In addition, the participants consisted of 20 blind people in Sulaymaniyah, 10 males and 10 females, who had three main characteristics: they were all over 25 years old, married and employed. The most important results show that most of the blind females felt inferior, but males did not However, most families of the blind females felt ashamed and inferior because of their blind member, Socially, the blind males are more likely to feel embarrassed about making friends. It can be said, the research shows that in education the blind students are not treated well by the teachers. Also, the poor buildings of the schools and lack of audio recordings of scientific resources are the major problems for the blind people. Lack of scientific resources that are written in braille was also a problem.

The lighting intensity through the curtain wall in high rise building is the part that is close to the curtain wall will get excessive light intensity which will cause glare, this causes building users to tend to cover the transparent wall with curtains. There are several strategies to optimize natural light in buildings through passive design. Researchers conducted a category assessment based on research conducted by Moreno so that it was found that those who got the highest points were the upper blinds. In this study, referring to Szokolay's opinion, an upper blind design will be developed that optimizes the entry of sunlight into the building based on the angle of sunlight falling on the blind panel surface. The method used in this study is an experimental method with the used of Radiance software. The case study building that will be used is the Kompas Tower. Based on the results of experiments conducted, the model with the upper blind can optimize the level of natural lighting so that the room gets daylight that is closer to the lighting standards recommended by SNI. Upper blind can reduce the intensity of natural lighting in buildings with curtain wall facades by 28%. However, for lighting quality, model without upper blind is better than model with upper blind. The light uniformity value in the model without the upper blind is better by 8% and the light contrast value in the model without the upper blind is better at 17%. When totaled, upper blind is still superior because of the better light quantity value.

Résumé :
Purpose – Online collaboration – a required method for many problem-solving situations in today’s work environments – has many aspects that are not clearly understood or explored. One of them is how work styles, specifically leadership styles, within a seemingly homogeneous teams with no prior role assignments affects the process and outcomes of collaboration. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the aspect of online collaboration to learn how different leadership styles that may emerge impact collaborative work. Design/methodology/approach – The work described here employs a user study involving 84 participants in 42 pairs, working in one of the three conditions across two sessions. The three conditions are defined based on the amount and the kind of awareness provided to the team members: no awareness of personal or team progress (C1), awareness of personal progress (C2), and awareness of both personal and team progress (C3). The log and chat data from the sessions where these teams work in collecting relevant information for two different topics are collected and analysed. Findings – Quantitative and qualitative analyses indicate the difference among the three conditions with respect to these two leadership styles. Specifically, it is found that those with the team awareness provided to them (C3) exhibited the least amounts of leadership, keeping the team relatively symmetric. The democratic nature of such teams also fostered more diverse searching behaviour and less need for communication. Originality/value – The work reported here is a first attempt to shed light on two kinds of connections: individual and team awareness to leadership style, and leadership style to diversity of information exploration.

Résumé :
Virtual pheromone trailing has successfully been demonstrated for navigation of multiple robots to achieve a collective goal. Many previous works use a pheromone deposition scheme that assumes perfect localization of the robot, in which, robots precisely know their location in the map. Therefore, pheromones are always assumed to be deposited at the desired place. However, it is difficult to achieve perfect localization of the robot due to errors in encoders and sensors attached to the robot and the dynamics of the environment in which the robot operates. In real-world scenarios, there is always some uncertainty associated in estimating the pose (i.e. position and orientation) of the mobile service robot. Failing to model this uncertainty would result in service robots depositing pheromones at wrong places. A leading robot in the multi-robot system might completely fail to localize itself in the environment and be lost. Other robots trailing its pheromones will end up being in entirely wrong areas of the map. This results in a “blind leading the blind” scenario that reduces the efficiency of the multi-robot system. We propose a pheromone deposition algorithm, which models the uncertainty of the robot’s pose. We demonstrate, through experiments in both simulated and real environments, that modeling the uncertainty in pheromone deposition is crucial, and that the proposed algorithm can model the uncertainty well.

Résumé :
Abstract Roller blinds are devices that are retracted and wrapped in a box above the window opening and are used to protect against the solar radiation. Those are the wellknown devices with distinct advantages over the fixed external dimming elements. The influence of external blinds on the internal thermal environment in climatic conditions in the Republic of Serbia, the city of Kragujevac, was considered in this research. An external blind was installed in the test room and its influence on the internal temperature was compared with the internal temperature of the room without the blind. Real-time monitoring was carried out in February and August 2023. The results presented in this paper show that the blind reduces the temperature in summer by 3.57ºC and increases it in winter by 1.76ºC. The cooling load can be reduced by about 20%, and the heat load by about 15%.

Résumé :
Slip blinds are frequently used for hydrotesting piping. In addition, when maintaining equipment or piping, the equipment or piping must be isolated to ensure a safe working environment. Separating flange pairs and inserting a blind flange against the process side prevents hazardous substances from entering the work area. Slip blinds are often used for this type of service. However, slip blinds are generally limited to low-pressure service since at excessive pressures the blind will become dished and may leak or become impossible to remove. For this paper, slip blinds of various sizes and thicknesses were hydrostatically tested to determine their deformation as a function of pressure. Nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) was used to analytically determine the deformation of slip blinds. The goal of the testing and FEA was to determine allowable pressures that would limit permanent deformation of the blinds to specified values.

Résumé :
During this COVID-19 pandemic, I was invited to review several papers from well-reputed and high-impact factor journals. Surprisingly, the review of these papers was not blind, allowing me to know the authors and their institutions. Not blinding the reviews allows reviewers to decide whether accept or not the task and can predispose the reviewer's final decision. What was more striking for me was to know that some authors do not accept blind reviews. In our journal, all papers are blindly reviewed by two well-reputed reviewers with expertise in the topic. BLINDLY. Even our copyeditor, who checks and corrects English language mistakes, is blind to the paper's authorship. Although the time for publishing is sometimes long, the edition process is systematic and thoughtful, even changing or adding some reviewers when necessary. All the process but creating the PDF files is voluntary and free, done by different WFOT members. In issue 6, we have collected different topic papers; the paper from Recio deserves special mention, as it has belonged to grey literature since 2007. I read this paper in 2008, but I have not been able to contact ANY of the authors till recently Dr. Javier Cespedes found Dr. Marizta Palma that authorized its publication in our journal. Issue 7 will be the Proceedings of the 7th Meeting of the WFOT that will take place in Bucharest in 2022. We are now collecting papers for issue 8.

Résumé :
The peer-review system as a critical tool in academic processes is regarded to be essential. It is not used only to evaluate the manuscripts submitted to the journals but also in tenure decisions, academic promotions, and grant applications. However, during the last few decades, the system has also become a subject of academic research and criticized from various aspects. Many scholars studied the process and presented biases emerging due to the characteristics of the authors and reviewers. In this paper, the journals published by the faculties of economics and administrative sciences and the faculties of political sciences and indexed by TR Dizin are studied. It is observed that the language of the article, number, title, gender, and institutional affiliation of the authors do not influence the acceptance period. However, there is a difference between the average acceptance periods of the journals, which are quite similar. Moreover, being a faculty member of the publisher provides a significantly shorter acceptance period on average. The reason for such differentiation may be either the existence of a considerable extent of bias at the editorial stages of the process or the communication of the editors with the reviewers in a way that influences the process.

Résumé :
Blind individuals now utilise a conventional cane to guide them as they go from one location to another. Even though the standard cane is the most widely used aid for the blind today, it is unable to assist them in identifying hazards from various degrees of obstruction. Within this framework, we suggest a novel intelligent system to assist those who are blind or partially sighted. Through the usage of this device, blind persons may walk around with the same confidence and ease as sighted people. The system is connected to a GSM- GPS module in order to pinpoint the blind person's position and create a wireless two-way communication channel. Additionally, it uses ultrasonic sensors to offer direction information and obstacle avoidance information. The system is further enhanced with a vibrator, an accelerometer sensor, and a beeper. The white cane is utilised in conjunction with the compact and lightweight system. The outcomes demonstrated that the blinds utilising this method could move securely and autonomously. Key Words: AT commands, Microcontroller, Short Message Service (SMS), Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM), and Assistive Technology.

Résumé :
In literature a paucity of issues to measure cognitive functioning in the blinds is available (Rich, Anderson, 1965; Pichot, 1968; Newland, 1969; Vander Kolk, 1977; Nelson, Joyce, Dias, 2002) but in these reviews it is clear that they are not yet widely available without further support for research and development. This is particularly true for blind children. The purpose of the current study is to provide a proposal version of some of the Visual Performance Subtests adapted to blind children.

Résumé :
This paper presents the accident type of mining trucks, then gives the reasons of the problem by analyzing the structure characteristics and work environment of the trucks, and points out that the large blind area around the mining trucks is the main reason of frequent accidents. In order to monitor the blind area roundly and efficiently, the paper proposed a design scheme of safety monitoring alarm system using CAN bus technology, PLC technology and radar monitoring warning technology, which can assist driver to monitoring the blind area efficiently. The paper also gives a detailed description of the system designing and installation on mining trucks. It's concluded that the safety monitoring alarm system have a good performance to avoiding the blink area and a good application prospect, the system can be widely used on mining trucks.
