Résumé :
This study examined the relationship between importance ratings of positive and negative personal attributes and depressed mood. Undergraduate psychology students (n = 115) completed the Beck Depression Inventory-II and made self-referential ratings on several adjectives. Participants subsequently indicated how important it was for them to possess or fail to exhibit each of these traits. The results demonstrated that the perceived lack of important positive traits was related to increased depressed mood whereas not exhibiting important negative traits was associated with less depressed mood. Moreover, depressed mood was related to the degree to which respondents were certain about their endorsement of the traits. The implications of these results are discussed.

Résumé :
The Biological Restoration technique aims to use a dental fragment as the main restorative material for the reconstruction of a fractured tooth or with an extensive carious process, which may be autogenous or homogeneous. The objective of this study is to present, through a clinical case, an autogenous biological restoration with 2-year clinical and radiographic monitoring, as an alternative method of restoring teeth with destroyed clinical crown in a 27-year-old male patient. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee (Number: 4.236.211). On clinical examination, it was found that tooth 16 had a temporary restoration in glass ionomer cement covering an extensive area involving the mesiopalatal cusp and the mesial crest. It was also noted that the patient had a healthy tooth 18 with no chewing function. Thus, it was proposed to make the autogenous biological restoration using tooth 18 extracted from the patient himself. Finally, after 2 years of follow-up, the restoration has good clinical applicability, showing the viability of the technique.

Résumé :
Isatin is a heterocyclic nitrogen compound that has attracted much interest in recent years due to its diverse biological and pharmacological activities. It can be used in many medical and biological applications, such as antidiabetic, antibiotic, and anticancer agents. The isatin molecule can also be prepared from different substrates by various methods, such as the methods of Sandmeyer, Stolle, Gassman, Meanwell and Hewawasam and others. On the other hand, the isatin molecule can undergo various chemical reactions, such as oxidation, Friedel-Crafts reaction, ring expansion, aldol condensation, and alkylation reactions. As a result of these reactions, several biologically useful biomolecules are formed, including 2-oxindoles, tryptanthrin, indirubins and others. Therefore, the aim of this review was to provide an overview of the synthetic methods of the isatin molecule and its derivatives and to examine the various chemical reactions it undergoes. In addition, a list of some of the recently documented biological activities of isatin derivatives was compiled, such as antidiabetic, antibacterial, anticancer, and other properties.

Résumé :
The (thio)urea and benzothiazole (BT) derivatives have been shown to have a broad spectrum of biological activities. These groups, when bonded, result in the 2-(thio)ureabenzothizoles (TBT and UBT), which could favor the physicochemical and biological properties. UBTs and TBTs are compounds of great importance in medicinal chemistry. For instance, Frentizole is a UBT derivative used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. The UBTs Bentaluron and Bethabenthiazuron are commercial fungicides used as wood preservatives and herbicides in winter corn crops. On these bases, we prepared this bibliography review, which covers chemical aspects of UBTs and TBTs as potential therapeutic agents as well as their studies on the mechanisms of a variety of pharmacological activities. This work covers synthetic methodologies from 1935 to nowadays, highlighting the most recent approaches to afford UBTs and TBTs with a variety of substituents as illustrated in 42 schemes and 13 figures and concluded with 187 references. In addition, this interesting review is designed on chemical reactions of 2-aminobenzothiazoles (2ABTs) with (thio)phosgenes, iso(thio)cyanates, 1,1′-(thio)carbonyldiimidazoles [(T)CDI]s, (thio)carbamoyl chlorides, and carbon disulfide. This topic will provide information of utility for medicinal chemists dedicated to the design and synthesis of this class of compounds to be tested with respect to their biological activities and be proposed as new pharmacophores.

Résumé :
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a crucial component of the extracellular matrix, found abundantly in connective tissues, skin, and synovial fluid. Its unique properties, including hydration capacity and viscoelasticity, play pivotal roles in tissue hydration, lubrication, and wound healing. Despite its ubiquitous presence, the specific mechanisms underlying its diverse biological functions remain the subject of ongoing research. Studies have elucidated HA's involvement in various physiological processes, such as cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. Its interaction with cell surface receptors modulates signaling pathways implicated in tissue repair and inflammation regulation. Moreover, HA's rheological properties contribute to joint lubrication, facilitating smooth movement and preventing cartilage degradation. Understanding the multifaceted roles of HA holds significant implications for biomedical applications. Its therapeutic potential spans from skincare formulations to regenerative medicine and drug delivery systems. Targeting HA metabolism presents novel strategies for treating conditions like osteoarthritis, dry eye syndrome, and dermal aging. Continued exploration of HA biology promises exciting avenues for scientific advancement and clinical innovation. Emerging technologies, such as biomaterial engineering and nanomedicine, offer opportunities to tailor HA-based interventions for enhanced efficacy and targeted delivery. Additionally, investigating HA's interplay with the immune system could uncover new immunomodulatory therapies. In conclusion, the importance of hyaluronic acid in biological systems is indisputable, given its indispensable roles in tissue homeostasis and repair. By deciphering its intricate mechanisms of action, researchers pave the way for groundbreaking advancements in medicine and biotechnology. Harnessing the therapeutic potential of HA stands poised to revolutionize healthcare, offering solutions to a myriad of pathological conditions and enhancing quality of life.

Résumé :
Preservation of the natural environment in the coming decades is one of the universal human values as a necessary condition for the survival of life on Earth. But the process of realizing this is very slow. Protection of the environment, rational use of natural resources, ensuring the environmental safety of the population is one of the main directions of state environmental policy. The role and importance of the legal framework in regulating the complex environmental legal relations that arise in this process is enormous. In today’s world, the value of biological resources increases significantly. Biofuels, including population growth, climate change, plants and wildlife, have become widespread. However, a vulnerable living being is particularly sensitive to the effects of environmental factors and requires special measures to protect it.

Résumé :
Many studies have investigated mothers’ impact on students’ achievement, yet little is known about how various father types impact students’ school performance. This study examines 6 mutually exclusive categories of father type: resident biological fathers, resident stepfathers, resident adoptive fathers, nonresident biological fathers, unknown biological fathers, and deceased fathers. Adolescents’ school performance from seventh through twelfth grade is examined using data from 3 waves of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health), a nationally representative United States secondary data source. Findings indicate different types of fathers have distinct and independent positive associations with adolescents’ school achievement, after controlling for mother involvement. Adolescents with resident biological fathers had higher school performance than adolescents with nonresident fathers. Adolescents with stepfathers had higher rates of school failure than their peers living with their biological parents. The lowest achievement and the highest risk of school failure and course failure were experienced by those adolescents who did not have a resident father figure and didn’t know the identity of their fathers. Implications include the need to model for the unique influence of father involvement and father type on academic achievement, and the inclusion of unique family contexts in efforts to increase adolescents’ school involvement and integration.
