Résumé :
The price mechanism in the halal industry has an important role in determining the value and price of halal products. The concept of pricing mechanism in Islam has been initiated by the thinkers Yahya bin Umar and Ibn Taymiyyah. The purpose of this study is to find out how the relationship between the pricing mechanisms of the two Islamic thinkers in the halal industry. Descriptive analytical with qualitative research methods and a historical approach are used in this research. As a result, Yahya bin Umar and Ibn Taymiyyah's approaches to the pricing mechanism provide different perspectives but are in line with the context of healthy and fair pricing. Yahya bin Umar views that prices are determined by the ideal market mechanism, while Ibn Taymiyyah emphasizes the importance of healthy competition and wise government intervention. The price mechanism in the halal industry should reflect the intrinsic value of the product, ensure fairness in transactions, and support the sustainability of the industry. The government can use the price mechanism to set a minimum price or ensure halal products meet certain standards. Fair and competitive pricing will enable wider access to halal products and maintain consumer confidence over a longer period.

Résumé :
We present the first results on correlations in multiparticle production in p-nucleus interactions at 800 GeV using scaled factorial correlators and split-bin correlation functions. The behaviors of factorial correlators as a function of bin-bin distance in pseudorapidity as well as bin width is consistent with the random cascading picture of hadronization. From the analysis of the split-bin correlation functions as a function of bin-width, it is found that the two-particle dynamical correlations are due to resonance-like production mechanism.

Résumé :
Binary toxin (Bin toxin), BinA and BinB, produced by Lysinibacillus sphaericus has been used as a mosquito-control agent due to its high toxicity against the mosquito larvae. The crystal structures of Bin toxin and non-insecticidal but cytotoxic parasporin-2 toxin share some common structural features with those of the aerolysin-like toxin family, thus suggesting a common mechanism of pore formation of these toxins. Here we explored the possible cytotoxicity of Bin proteins (BinA, BinB and BinA + BinB) against Hs68 and HepG2 cell lines. The cytotoxicity of Bin proteins was evaluated using the trypan blue exclusion assay, MTT assay, morphological analysis and LDH efflux assay. The intracellular localization of Bin toxin in HepG2 cells was assessed by confocal laser scanning microscope. HepG2 cells treated with BinA and BinB (50 µg/mL) showed modified cell morphological features and reduced cell viability. Bin toxin showed no toxicity against Hs68 cells. The EC50 values against HepG2 at 24 h were 24 ng/mL for PS2 and 46.56 and 39.72 µg/mL for BinA and BinB, respectively. The induction of apoptosis in treated HepG2 cells was confirmed by upregulation of caspase levels. The results indicated that BinB mediates the translocation of BinA in HepG2 cells and subsequently associates with mitochondria. The study supports the possible development of Bin toxin as either an anticancer agent or a selective delivery vehicle of anticancer agents to target mitochondria of human cancer cells in the future.

Résumé :
At the end of the Rasyidin Caliphate there was division within Muslims. Politically there are two dominant groups: Hasan bin Ali and Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan. Politically there are two dominant groups, Hasan bin Ali and Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan. After the negotiations, for the sake of unity of Muslims, it was agreed that Hasan acknowledged Mu’awiyah as the Caliph of the Muslim marked the emergence of the Umayyad Dynasty. The moment was called 'am jama'ah (unity year) in 661. The Abbasid Dynasty was the descendant of Prophet Muhammad's uncle, al-Abbas, who supported Ali bin Abi Talib and his descendants (including Hasan bin Ali). This paper aims to discuss some of the political situation that developed when the Umayyads (661-750) and the Abbasids (750- 1258). In Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan's time there was a change of the political system from the khulafaur Rashidin into a system of al-Mulk (heredity monarchy) characterized by the appointment of his son, Yazin bin Mu'awiyah. This system adopted from the Persian and Byzantine kingdoms. However, maintaining the term caliph of Islam. Mu'awiyah also used Diwan and Sheikh to run the government, with the mechanism of Shura for consultative functions. After 150 years the Umayyads, the power was changed over by Abu al-Abbas Abdullah and marked the rising of the Abbasid in 750. In the Abbasid period the political and religious issues can’t be separated, which earlier in the Umayyad period were separated. The propaganda that the caliph is the representative of the people in carrying out God's command is valid until the Judgment Day. More explicitly, the term al-Imam (which also means the leader of prayer) is the leader in political affairs. In addition, the implementation of Islamic Shari'a is also more highlighted in governing the government and legitimating the power of the caliph. In general, the political style of the Abbasids is more Persian than the more Arab Umayyads

This paper will explain the contribution of Yahya bin Umar's economic thinking regarding the role of the state in the economy in the market. Yahya bin Umar had contributed his thoughts in the 9th century AD. According to him, the role of the state in regulating the market and prices of goods was not very dominant, because the state intervened if in the mechanism of price of goods in the market experienced monopolistic practices such as ihtikar, cartels and hoarding of goods. So, the role of the state is indispensable for controlling prices and goods for the benefit and welfare of society. Keywords: thinking, market,,Ihtikar (hoarding of goods) Tasy'ir (pricing)

Résumé :
Manual Sorting of silverware pieces after being washed by a high-volume commercial dishwasher is a costly and time consuming process which can be improved by automation. This paper describes the design, construction, and testing of an automated silverware sorting process. The process employs machine vision with simple, but effective, high-volume mechanisms to detect the type and orientation of different types of silverware pieces and place them into different bins. The project was conducted in two major phases: 1) Design and Construction of the Mechanism: a simple and effective mechanism was designed to sort the pieces into separate bins off of a conveyor belt. Pneumatic actuators provided the key mechanical sorting. 2) Design of the Control System: a computer program was developed that detects the entrance of a piece into the machine and recognizes the type and orientation of each silverware piece using computer vision techniques. The software then commands the proper mechanical component at the proper time to actuate, so that each piece ends up in the designated bin. The machine was tested with different silverware input sequences The accuracy of the software in identifying the type and direction of the pieces, the accuracy of the mechanical system in sorting the pieces, and the accuracy of the overall system were found to be 100%, 90.63% and 88.75% respectively.

Résumé :
Farming consumes considerable energy, natural resources and intensive human labor. Robotic assisted farmer can make farming activities more precise and more efficient; particularly it may remedy shortage of farmers in the future. A planter is a mechanism which performs precision seeding. Design of a planter in the optimum manner that needs minimum draft force when attached to a mobile robot, was the main objective of this work. A planter was developed, fabricated and tested in the course of a research project. The main motivation for this research is the fact that a mobile robot, is an electric powered vehicle with limited power and pulling force. Thus, a customized planter with a customized connection mechanism should be designed that can be pulled by mobile robot. The developed planter should have the same efficiency as the existing planters in seeding. To study the interaction between soil engagement tool (disc coulter) and soil, experiments were performed in the Linear Soil Bin. Different parameters of the disc coulter were changed and the draft force, vertical force and side force were measured. The results of the experiments were used to find the optimum parameters of the disc that caused minimum draft force. A novel planter was designed and fabricated; it was attached to a mobile robot, and field tested. Tests performed in outdoor and indoor settings showed satisfactory results. Draft force developed on the planter was close to analytical value and performance of the planter in other aspects was as expected.

Résumé :
Gasoline compression ignition (GCI) is a low temperature combustion (LTC) concept that has been gaining increasing interest over the recent years owing to its potential to achieve diesel-like thermal efficiencies with significantly reduced engine-out nitrogen oxides (NOx) and soot emissions compared to diesel engines. In this work, closed-cycle computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations are performed of this combustion mode using a sector mesh in an effort to understand effects of model settings on simulation results. One goal of this work is to provide recommendations for grid resolution, combustion model, chemical kinetic mechanism, and turbulence model to accurately capture experimental combustion characteristics. Grid resolutions ranging from 0.7 mm to 0.1 mm minimum cell sizes were evaluated in conjunction with both Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES) based turbulence models. Solution of chemical kinetics using the multi-zone approach is evaluated against the detailed approach of solving chemistry in every cell. The relatively small primary reference fuel (PRF) mechanism (48 species) used in this study is also evaluated against a larger 312-species gasoline mechanism. Based on these studies the following model settings are chosen keeping in mind both accuracy and computation costs — 0.175 mm minimum cell size grid, RANS turbulence model, 48-species PRF mechanism, and multi-zone chemistry solution with bin limits of 5 K in temperature and 0.05 in equivalence ratio. With these settings, the performance of the CFD model is evaluated against experimental results corresponding to a low load start of injection (SOI) timing sweep. The model is then exercised to investigate the effect of SOI on combustion phasing with constant intake valve closing (IVC) conditions and fueling over a range of SOI timings to isolate the impact of SOI on charge preparation and ignition. Simulation results indicate that there is an optimum SOI timing, in this case −30°aTDC (after top dead center), which results in the most stable combustion. Advancing injection with respect to this point leads to significant fuel mass burning in the colder squish region, leading to retarded phasing and ultimately misfire for SOI timings earlier than −42°aTDC. On the other hand, retarding injection beyond this optimum timing results in reduced residence time available for gasoline ignition kinetics, and also leads to retarded phasing, with misfire at SOI timings later than −15°aTDC.

Résumé :
Abstract The design of cleaning and maintenance (CaM) robots are generally limited by their fixed morphologies. Contrary to the fixed robotic systems, design for reconfiguration in robots presents unique challenges. Reconfigurable robots pose the challenge of designing their subsystems and functionalities such that a robot meets its system, performance, and other fixed requirements, while providing reconfiguration capabilities to increase functionality and to provide innovative operational scenarios. Established transformation or reconfiguration principles, namely, expand/collapse, expose/cover, and fuse/divide, observed in several products-services-systems, can be adopted to design subsystems and system for reconfiguration in robots. Essentially these principles in many robots may be governed and implemented. The heuristic approach to design the reconfigurable robotic systems using three layers namely input, formulation and output layer is proposed. This paper used the design principles and associated facilitators and abstracts them to build a reconfigurable pavement cleaning robot named Panthera. Moreover, need, challenges, and design strategies for system and subsystem levels are presented. The system-level reconfiguration is to expand/collapse, whereas the subsystems, namely, i) Varying footprint, ii) Transmission, iii) Storage bin, iv) Cleaning brushes, v) Vacuum/Suction and blowing, and vi) Outer skin or cover are explained. The step-by-step illustration for reconfiguring the system and subsystem of Panthera is done by referring to the transformation principles, precedence, and mechanism adopted to achieve reconfiguration requirements.

Résumé :
The paper presents two different approaches to construct subsets of current profiles from a large set of long term current profiles for the purpose of performing calculations for riser fatigue damage from vortex induced vibrations (VIV). The subsets are intended to reproduce the fatigue damage from the full set of current profiles. In the first approach, the full set of profiles is first sorted into bins based on current magnitude, direction and shear in the profile. The profiles within each bin are then reduced to a single constructed profile through one of many possible current averaging schemes. The present study includes two types of constructed profiles; one profile is generated by the average value of the currents for each bin and the other by the average value plus one standard deviation. The second approach is based on first performing a simplified and computationally efficient VIV analysis of the full set of profiles. The profiles are then sorted into bins by the dominant excitation mode, and then a single profile is chosen to represent all the profiles that excite the mode of interest. The chosen profile for the mode of interest has VIV power-in which is close to the average power-in for all the profiles that excite the mode. The number of profiles in the subset is equal to the number of modes that are excited by the full set of profiles. The VIV power-in in this paper is estimated through a simplified procedure that is consistent with the SHEAR7 methodology. Other available codes can also be used for the simplified VIV calculations.

Résumé :
One of the fundamental tenets of quantum mechanics is the existence of superposition states, or states whose properties simultaneously possess two or more distinct values. Although quantum superpositions and entanglements seldom appear outside of the microscopic quantum world, there is growing interest in the creation of “big” superpositions and massively entangled states for use in applications such as a quantum computer.1 We report first steps toward this goal by demonstrating a fondamental two-bit quantum logic gate and a “Schrödinger cat”-like state of motion with a single trapped beryllium atom. Both experiments allow sensitive measurements of decoherence mechanisms which will play an important role in the feasibility of quantum computation.

Résumé :
Abstract Flash memory is one of the most mysterious and difficult structures in the semiconductor industry. Excessive data gain and data loss may cause errors in reading the flash memory. This paper discusses the data gain mechanism and the various failure mechanisms (i.e., CoSi at Mux, CoSi at bit, particle at Mux, resistive contact, erasing defect at failing bit, programming fail at bit, misaligned contact, passive voltage contrast (PVC) at multiple gates in Mux region, particle and missing via, poly residue defect etc.) causing single bit flash data gain. Presented in the paper are the definitions involved, Flash cell theory and physics involved, and the theory explaining why leakage in the 8:1 mux causes the single bit flash data gain. This is followed by a case study involving various failure mechanisms and a final conclusion. Knowing the fail mechanisms and correcting them promptly enhances the yield.

Résumé :
Hoeckens and Chebychev linkages have been widely discussed in the literature as design solutions to build single degree of freedom (DOF) leg mechanisms. Compared to fully actuated legs, often bio-inspired, they offer an unmatched simplicity. However, due to their limited motion capability, they can only be used when the traversed terrain is of limited difficulty. In order to alleviate this drawback, a novel design with a second DOF is proposed in this paper. The introduced mechanism is composed of a Hoeckens linkage augmented by a Pantograph for which the position of the pivot can be changed through an additional rotating link. Screw theory is used to determine the kinematic equations of the mechanism, its singular configurations, and its attainable workspace. Subsequently, an optimization of the geometric parameters is performed to maximize performance indices pertaining to the size of the mechanism’s workspace. Finally, possible use of compliant joints is discussed.

Résumé :
Earthquake focal mechanisms have contributed substantially to our understanding of modern tectonic stress regimes, perhaps more than any other data source. Studies generally group focal mechanisms by epicentral location to examine variations in stress across a region. However, stress variations with depth have rarely been considered, either due to data limitations or because they were believed to be negligible. This study presents 3D grids of tectonic stress tensors using existing focal mechanism catalogs from several subduction zones, including Cascadia, Japan, Nankai, Mexico, and northern Chile. We bin data into 50 x 50 x 10 km cells (north, east, vertical), with 50% overlap in all three directions. This resulted in 181380 stress inversions, with 90% of these in Japan (including Nankai). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first examination of stress changes with depth in several of these regions. The resulting maps and cross-sections of stress can help distinguish locked and creeping segments of the plate interface. Similarly, by dividing the focal mechanism catalog in northern Japan into those before and those >6 months after the 2011 Mw 9.1 Tohoku-Oki earthquake, we are able to produce detailed 3D maps of stress rotation, which is close to 90° near the areas of highest slip. These results could inform geodynamic rupture models of future megathrust earthquakes in order to more accurately estimate slip, shaking, and seismic hazard. Southern Cascadia and Nankai appear to have sharp stress discontinuities at ~20 km depth, and northern Cascadia may have a similar discontinuity at ~30 km depth. These stress boundaries may relate to rheological discontinuities in the forearc, and may help us unravel how forearc composition influences subduction zone behaviour and seismic hazard.

Résumé :
Bio-structures owe their remarkable mechanical properties to their hierarchical geometrical arrangement as well as heterogeneous material properties. This dissertation presents an integrated, interdisciplinary approach that employs computational mechanics combined with flow network analysis to gain fundamental insights into the failure mechanisms of high performance, light-weight, structured composites by examining the stress flow patterns formed in the nascent stages of loading for the rostrum of the paddlefish. The data required for the flow network analysis was generated from the finite element analysis of the rostrum. The flow network was weighted based on the parameter of interest, which is stress in the current study. The changing kinematics of the structural system was provided as input to the algorithm that computes the minimum-cut of the flow network. The proposed approach was verified using two classical problems three- and four-point bending of a simply-supported concrete beam. The current study also addresses the methodology used to prepare data in an appropriate format for a seamless transition from finite element binary database files to the abstract mathematical domain needed for the network flow analysis. A robust, platform-independent procedure was developed that efficiently handles the large datasets produced by the finite element simulations. Results from computational mechanics using Abaqus and complex network analysis are presented.

Résumé :
t.The development of global agricultural production and food trade in recent decades implies a digital transformation and the transition to a new technological order, which is an essential factor for sustainable development. Digitalization of agriculture and the food sector is carried out on the basis of IT 2 platforms, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology. Fragmented and unclear legal mechanisms, slow updating of legal regulation hinder the introduction of digital solutions. A modern regulatory framework based on digital strategies should strengthen the confidence of farmers in "smart agriculture". In Russia, the legal mechanism of strategic planning covers the development of the national platform "Digital Agriculture". Digital strategies also include updating basic legislation.

Résumé :
Low-moisture foods (LMF) are increasingly involved in foodborne illness. While bacteria cannot grow in LMF due to the low water content, pathogens such as Salmonella can still survive in dry foods and pose health risks to consumer. We recently found that Salmonella secretes a proteinaceous compound during desiccation, which we identified as OsmY, an osmotic stress response protein of 177 amino acids. To elucidate the role of OsmY in conferring tolerance against desiccation and other stresses in Salmonella entericaserovarTyphimurium (STm), our specific objectives were: (1) Characterize the involvement of OsmY in desiccation tolerance; (2) Perform structure-function analysis of OsmY; (3) Study OsmY expression under various growth- and environmental conditions of relevance to agriculture; (4) Examine the involvement of OsmY in response to other stresses of relevance to agriculture; and (5) Elucidate regulatory pathways involved in controlling osmY expression. We demonstrated that an osmY-mutant strain is impaired in both desiccation tolerance (DT) and in long-term persistence during cold storage (LTP). Genetic complementation and addition of a recombinantOsmY (rOsmY) restored the mutant survival back to that of the wild type (wt). To analyze the function of specific domains we have generated a recombinantOsmY (rOsmY) protein. A dose-response DT study showed that rOsmY has the highest protection at a concentration of 0.5 nM. This effect was protein- specific as a comparable amount of bovine serum albumin, an unrelated protein, had a three-time lower protection level. Further characterization of OsmY revealed that the protein has a surfactant activity and is involved in swarming motility. OsmY was shown to facilitate biofilm formation during dehydration but not during bacterial growth under optimal growth conditions. This finding suggests that expression and secretion of OsmY under stress conditions was potentially associated with facilitating biofilm production. OsmY contains two conserved BON domains. To better understand the role of the BON sites in OsmY-mediated dehydration tolerance, we have generated two additional rOsmY constructs, lacking either BON1 or BON2 sites. BON1-minus (but not BON2) protein has decreased dehydration tolerance compared to intact rOsmY, suggesting that BON1 is required for maximal OsmY-mediated activity. Addition of BON1-peptide at concentration below 0.4 µM did not affect STm survival. Interestingly, a toxic effect of BON1 peptide was observed in concentration as low as 0.4 µM. Higher concentrations resulted in complete abrogation of the rOsmY effect, supporting the notion that BON-mediated interaction is essential for rOsmY activity. We performed extensive analysis of RNA expression of STm undergoing desiccation after exponential and stationary growth, identifying all categories of genes that are differentially expressed during this process. We also performed massively in-parallel screening of all genes in which mutation caused changes in fitness during drying, identifying over 400 such genes, which are now undergoing confirmation. As expected OsmY is one of these genes. In conclusion, this is the first study to identify that OsmY protein secreted during dehydration contributes to desiccation tolerance in Salmonella by facilitating dehydration- mediated biofilm formation. Expression of OsmY also enhances swarming motility, apparently through its surfactant activity. The BON1 domain is required for full OsmY activity, demonstrating a potential intervention to reduce pathogen survival in food processing. Expression and fitness screens have begun to elucidate the processes of desiccation, with the potential to uncover additional specific targets for efforts to mitigate pathogen survival in desiccation.
