Résumé :
A new Sillago species, the black-banded sillago, Sillago nigrofasciatasp. nov., is described based on 302 specimens sampled from the southern coast of China. Morphological comparisons have been conducted between the new species and ten other Sillago species. The results show that the new species is characterized by a black mid-lateral band below the lateral line when fresh; other characteristics are similar to those of Sillago sihama but subtle differences exist on the swim bladder between Sillago nigrofasciata sp. nov. and S. sihama. A detailed description and illustrations are provided for the new species. The validity of this new species is also supported by a genetic comparison using sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene.

Résumé :
This writing is on the subject of “Pedestal bowl” and mainly focused on categorizing objects regarding shape-related differences, changes of those objects in timeline and the locations of Silla pottery in different historical periods. Pedestal bowl is Bowl with Pedestal attached to it, and it is recognized in two different sorts: Handle pedestal bowl, if it has Handle and Pedestal bowl, if it doesn t have Handle. In detailed categorization, Pedestal bowl can be called differently: Notched band with Pedestal bowl, if its body has Notched band and Patternless- bowl of heels if its body doesn t have Notched band. In other Silla pottery researches previously done, the term of Pedestal bowl is mixedly used with words such as Handle- cup and Pedestal dish, which contributes more difficulties to a recognition of changes of Silla pottery in a time frame. Sometimes, errors were encountered by researchers from Chronology of Pedestal dish because Silla pottery was mistakenly put in the same category with Pedestal dish. In those reasons, each specific sorts of Pedestal bowl need to be correctly recognized and examined along with Pedestal bowl, Long-neck jar, Short-neck jar as a sub-class sort of Silla pottery. In this review, the subjects are discussed as the following order. First, Pedestal bowl and Pedestal dish are put in different groups through the exact definition of terms, and Pedestal bowl is sub-categorized through comparisons of its shapes. Moreover, changes which can be observed from objects are reviewed in regards of time and marked in period terms, chronically. Finally, Pedestal bowl is studied in terms of its changes in a time frame, the specifics of which are based on chronical records of each sort, and tried to be located in the specific time slot in a larger category of Silla pottery. In the process of this study, I recognized that Notched band with Pedestal bowl and Patternless-bowl of heels are normally not discovered together in many cases. Moreover, Handle Pedestal bowl was considered to have gone through some periods of its changes in shapes which were similar to Notched band with Pedestal bowl, and those changes were accompanied by its decrease in size. Also, it was also seen that Pedestal dish and Long-neck jar were not normally buried together, and uncategorized middle or small sized tombs can be recognized chronically through studies of its Pedestal bowl.

Résumé :
A sample was selected from the IRAS Point Source Catalogue based on the following selection criteria: very red (“cold”) IRAS-colours: roughly F25/F12 > 2.5 and F60/F25 < 1.2; and low IR-variability: VAR < 30. These non-variable IR-sources may be stars that have evolved beyond the AGB (Asymptotic Giant Branch); a large fraction (40%) is associated with known planetary nebulae (Van der Veen and Habing, 1987, Astron. Astrophys., in press). To determine the nature of the other 60% additional observations were made mainly in the infrared: 1–13 μm, during 4 observing runs: ESO (La Silla, Chile) in July 1986 and June 1987; UKIRT (Hawaii) in August 1986 and June 1987. A total number of 58 sources was observed. A summary of the observations: -IR broad band photometry at 1.2, 1.6, 2.2, 3.8 and 4,6 μm for all 58 sources. -IR broad band photometry at 8.4, 9.7 and 12.8 μm for 19 sources. -IR small band photometry for 4 sources in the ranges 2–2.5 μm and 3–3.5 μm. -IR spectroscopy for 10 sources in the ranges 2–2.5 μm and 3–3.5 μm, -V, R, I observations (0.55, 0.7 and 0.9 μm) for 5 sources associated with a star of visual magnitude 8–9. These observations were carried out by D. de Winter (Amsterdam) with the 0.5-m ESO telescope at La Silla (Chile). -Walraven photometry (0.32, 0.36, 0.38, 0.43 and 0.54 μm) for 21 stars brighter than V = 15 and within 10“ from the IRAS position. These observations were carried out by M. van Haarlem (Leiden) with the 0.9-m Dutch telescope at La Silla (Chile).

Résumé :
In July 660, Silla-Tang allied forces destroyed Baekje. In 661, the Tang launched an attack on Goguryeo. The battle between Goguryeo and Tang from 661 to 662 was called the Second Go-Tang War. The Second Go-Tang War ended with the Battle of the Sasu in 662. In this study, the military base of the Tang army was specifically determined, and based on this, the defense battle was reconstructed. It is believed that the Sasu is located in the west, not east of Pyongyang Castle. The Tang army formed four camps to surround Pyongyang Castle. Bang Hyo-tae's troops were stationed in the west of Pyongyang Castle, installing a barrier along the shooter. Yoo Baek-young's unit was stationed on the left side of Bang Hyo-tae's unit, and Im Ah-sang and Jo Gye-sook's unit were stationed on the right side. And So Jeong-Bang is believed to have been stationed in the area of Maeup-san. Goguryeo troops first attacked Im Ah-sang's troops with weak defense facilities. When Im Ah-sang's unit was defeated, Bang Hyo-tae's unit was isolated and annihilated. As a result, the Tang army's siege of Pyongyang could no longer be maintained. In addition, the cold and food shortages were further aggravated by heavy snow at the time. In the end, the party forces, which received the military supplies supported by Silla, were relieved of the siege of Pyongyang and stepped down.

Abstract: In the XVI-XVIIth centuries, the interior fittings of Parisian parish churches show a strong ownership by the middle-class families, who have their graves and their pews in there. The testators specify where they wish to be buried and give instructions to organize their funerals (Chaunu). In the XVIIIth century, churchwardens restrict burials under the pavement before constructing large cellars to receive the corpses of the bourgeois; they also replace pews by chairs. Wills become brief because the burial site is now imposed both by social rank and the type and amount of funeral expenses. A funeral standard is established, burial becomes a family event independent of personal qualities of the deceased.Résumé : Aux XVIe-XVIIe siècles, l’aménagement intérieur des églises paroissiales parisiennes témoigne d’une forte appropriation par les familles bourgeoises qui y ont leur sépulture familiale et leur banc clos. AbstractThe X-ray transient source XTE J1818–245 went through an outburst in 2005 that was observed during a multi-wavelength campaign from radio to soft γ-rays. We performed new optical observations with the ESO/NTT telescope at La Silla. The broad-band spectral energy distribution revealed that the outer parts of the accretion disc had to be irradiated by its inner parts to explain the optical emission.

AbstractHigh-angular resolution observations were acquired for a sample of F-G and K nearby orbital binaries, making use of the ADONIS instrument mounted at the 3.6m ESO telescope from La Silla observatory. The aim is to derive broad-band near-infrared colours for the individual components of those binaries which do not fit well the mean mass-luminosity relation, but which have accurate parallaxes (from the Hipparcos satellite) and high-quality orbits, thanks to many previous efforts. Such colour determinations allow component temperatures and photometric mass ratios to be derived.

Résumé :
High resolution (0.°25 × 0.°25) surface brightness distribution in V of the southern Milky Way over an area of 200° ≤ l ≤ 60° and of −30° ≤ b ≤ +30° was obtained by photographic plates, taken at La Silla, Chile, with the super-wide-angle camera with spherical mirror of the Astronomisches Institut der Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Schmidt-Kaler et al. 1983). Schmidt-Kaler et al. (1983) and Seidensticker, Schmidt-Kaler, and Schlosser (1982) carried out an analysis of these plates. However, these studies used only a fraction of the whole plate; interesting parts of the sky were chosen near the plate centers, thus minimizing various errors. The plates are now all scanned over the whole field of view with a PDS with a diaphragm of 50 × 50 μm = 0.°12 × 0.° 12 on the sky. The image size is 1201 × 1201 pixels per plate. The mean deviation during the scan time was less than 0.1%. Through the identification of about 50 stars and by using their l, b and x, y coordinates, the equations of the plates were solved with eight geometric parameters. The standard deviation of all parameters was less than 0.3 pixels on all plates.

Résumé :
AbstractWe review mid-infrared N-band spectra (8–13 μm) for a sample of 28 targets, obtained with the TIMMI2 camera at La Silla Observatory. The sample contains 5 FU Orionis stars, 6 Herbig Ae/Be objects, 7 T Tauri stars and 10 Vega-type main sequence objects. All targets show infrared excess, but for several the proof of circumstellar matter was lacking up to our observations. We model the N-band emission features with a mixture of silicates consisting of different grain sizes and composition, and determine the status of dust processing in these disks. While for some targets the emission spectrum resembles those of known pre-main sequence stars of evolved dust, other objects show strong isolated PAH bands but no silicate emission. For the first time we find evidence of PAH processing occurring in a T Tauri star. The Vega-type object HD 113766 exhibits highly-processed secondary generation dust, likely released by the collision of planetesimal-sized bodies. The findings of our dust analysis are set in context to previous dust studies of young stellar objects.

Résumé :
In archeology, which studies past lifestyles, the study of the remains of life has received attention early. However, in the archaeological studies in Korea, studies on cities were relatively insufficient. It was confined to a specific time period and a specific topic. Also data were more insufficient for local cities. Examining the distribution status and political background of each period, it can be seen that Cheongju area is very valuable as a city research data. The main life area of the Cheongju have been found in the Cheongju Basin since ancient times. In this study, the remains of living that were identified in the basin were researched. In the Cheongju Basin, there are both ancient natural growth cities and medieval planned cities. Cheongju was an ancient city which, through its geographical advantage, developed into a growth city through the absorption process of Baekje from Mahan's large settlement. At one time, however, the city declined in the adverse environment of the borders of centralized countries. However, Silla established 'Seowon-Sokyung' around the new center right after reunification. As the planned city of 'Sokyung' entered, Cheongju became the center city of Chungcheong-do. On the other hand, the background of the installation of 'Sokyung' was the control and monitoring of the Baekje-based Local people for political purposes and it can be estimated from the medieval urban structure with the 'Bangri system'. In the early Cheongju region of Goryeo, The thaneship which opposed to the central forces become a center. This political background suggests that the goals for the overpowered and conquered people have become receded, and this means that the object of check has been turned into thaneship. Nevertheless, the Cheongju area Gyesugwan of the 23rd year of the Goryeo Taejo. This compares with the situation at the time of the installation of 'Sokyung' right after Silla's unification. The background seems to have been the reasons for the change of the ruling dynasty (the fact that Cheongju was not a newly expanded territory) and appeasement for Cheongju in early Goryeo. In this period, it is confirmed that the compartments such as fence facilities and road yards are expanded and compared with the case of Northern Song dynasty, it was possible to imagine the change in the structure of the street which lost the control function of Bang-ri system like the phenomenon in Northern Song capital Since then, the medieval city of Cheongju has developed into the present city through the Joseon Dynasty.

Résumé :
In recent years, we have been studying the energy distribution of RS CVn binaries from UV to far IR wave lengths, in order to derive general properties of the systems and to better understand their evolutionary scenario, including the history of mass loss (Busso et al., 1987, 1988). In this framework, we have so far analyzed, at different level of accuracy, a total of about 60 sources, among which 30 have been the object of detailed studies, on the basis of broad band photomertic observations from 0.35 to 60 µm, using ground-based telescopes (mainly at La Silla, ESO) and IRAS-PSC information. For these 30 binaries, the quasi-periodic variations due to the presence of photospheric spots have been carefully subtracted, to derive the energy distributions of the unperturbed systems.

Résumé :
Society demands effective electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbers that are lightweight, with a broad absorption band and strong absorption, to solve excessive electromagnetic radiation. Herein, ultralight magnetic graphite-like C3N4/carbon foam (MCMF) was fabricated via impregnating polymerized melamine formaldehyde (MF) foams in Fe3O4 nanoparticle solution, followed by in situ pyrolysis at 1000 °C. MCMF possesses porous architectures consisting of graphitic C3N4/carbon and CFe15.1. The magnetic particles (α-Fe, Fe3O4 and Fe3C) were formed and modified on the internal skeleton surface. The EMW absorption capacity of MCMF is better than the that of carbonized MF foam without Fe3O4 (CMF), possessing excellent absorption behavior, with a minimum RL value of −47.38 dB and a matching thickness as thin as 3.90 mm. The corresponding effective absorbing bandwidth is as broad as 13.32 GHz. Maxwell–Wagner–Sillars (MWS) polarization and the residual loss are proved to be beneficial for such superior absorption behavior. Besides, graphitic C3N4 enriches the interface polarization effect and the electromagnetic matching effect. The microporous structures are beneficial for increasing EMW propagation, resulting in internal multiple reflections and scatterings, which are also beneficial for EMW attenuation.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT This paper describes the rapidly evolving and unusual supernova LSQ13ddu, discovered by the La Silla-QUEST survey. LSQ13ddu displayed a rapid rise of just 4.8 ± 0.9 d to reach a peak brightness of −19.70 ± 0.02 mag in the LSQgr band. Early spectra of LSQ13ddu showed the presence of weak and narrow $\mathrm{ He}\, {\small I}$ features arising from interaction with circumstellar material (CSM). These interaction signatures weakened quickly, with broad features consistent with those seen in stripped-envelope SNe becoming dominant around two weeks after maximum. The narrow $\mathrm{ He}\, {\small I}$ velocities are consistent with the wind velocities of luminous blue variables but its spectra lack the typically seen hydrogen features. The fast and bright early light curve is inconsistent with radioactive 56Ni powering but can be explained through a combination of CSM interaction and an underlying 56Ni decay component that dominates the later time behaviour of LSQ13ddu. Based on the strength of the underlying broad features, LSQ13ddu appears deficient in He compared to standard SNe Ib.

Résumé :
Supernova LSQ13abf was discovered soon after explosion by the La Silla-QUEST Survey and then followed by the Carnegie Supernova Project II at its optical and near-IR wavelengths. Our analysis indicates that LSQ13abf was discovered within two days of explosion and its first ≈10 days of evolution reveal a B-band light curve with an abrupt drop in luminosity. Contemporaneously, the V-band light curve exhibits a rise towards a first peak and the r- and i-band light curves show no early peak. The early light-curve evolution of LSQ13abf is reminiscent of the post-explosion cooling phase observed in the Type Ib SN 2008D, and the similarity between the two objects extends over weeks. Spectroscopically, LSQ13abf also resembles SN 2008D, with P Cygni He I features that strengthen over several weeks. Spectral energy distributions are constructed from the broad-bandphotometry, a UVOIR light curve is constructed by fitting black-body (BB) functions, and the underlying BB-temperature and BB-radius profiles are estimated. Explosion parameters are estimated by simultaneously fitting an Arnett model to the UVOIR light curve and the velocity evolution derived from spectral features, and an in addition to a post-shock breakout cooling model to the first two epochs of the bolometric evolution. This combined model suggests an explosion energy of 1.27 ± 0.23 × 1051 ergs, in addition to a relatively high ejecta mass of 5.94 ± 1.10 M⊙, a 56Ni mass of 0.16 ± 0.02 M⊙, and a progenitor-star radius of 28.0 ± 7.5 R⊙. The ejecta mass suggests the origins of LSQ13abf lie with a > 25 M⊙ zero-age-main-sequence mass progenitor and its estimated radius is three times larger compared to the result obtained from the same analysis applied to observations of SN 2008D, and nine times larger compared to SN 1999ex. Alternatively, a comparison of hydrodynamical simulations of ≳20−25 M⊙ zero-age-main-sequence progenitors that evolve to pre-supernova envelope masses of ≲10 M⊙ and extended (∼100 R⊙) envelopes also broadly match the observations of LSQ13abf.

Résumé :
We present six new time-delay measurements obtained from Rc-band monitoring data acquired at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPIA) 2.2 m telescope at La Silla observatory between October 2016 and February 2020. The lensed quasars HE 0047−1756, WG 0214−2105, DES 0407−5006, 2M 1134−2103, PSJ 1606−2333, and DES 2325−5229 were observed almost daily at high signal-to-noise ratio to obtain high-quality light curves where we can record fast and small-amplitude variations of the quasars. We measured time delays between all pairs of multiple images with only one or two seasons of monitoring with the exception of the time delays relative to image D of PSJ 1606−2333. The most precise estimate was obtained for the delay between image A and image B of DES 0407−5006, where τAB = −128.4−3.8+3.5 d (2.8% precision) including systematics due to extrinsic variability in the light curves. For HE 0047−1756, we combined our high-cadence data with measurements from decade-long light curves from previous COSMOGRAIL campaigns, and reach a precision of 0.9 d on the final measurement. The present work demonstrates the feasibility of measuring time delays in lensed quasars in only one or two seasons, provided high signal-to-noise ratio data are obtained at a cadence close to daily.

Résumé :
Abstract WINERED is a novel near-infrared (NIR) high-resolution spectrograph (HRS) that pursues the highest possible sensitivity to realize high-precision spectroscopy in the NIR as in the optical wavelength range. WINERED covers 0.9–1.35 μm (z, Y, and J-bands) with three modes (Wide mode and two Hires modes) at the maximum spectral resolutions of R = 28,000 and R = 70,000. For fulfilling the objective, WINERED is designed with an unprecedentedly high instrument throughput (up to 50% at maximum including the quantum efficiency of the array) that is three times or more than other existing optical/NIR HRSs. This is mainly realized by a combination of non-white pupil and no fiber-fed configuration in optical design, the moderate (optimized) wavelength coverage, and the high-throughput gratings. Another prominent feature of WINERED is “warm” instrument despite for infrared (IR) observations. Such non-cryogenic (no cold stop) IR instrument finally became possible with the combination of custom-made thermal-cut filter of 10−8 class, 1.7 μm cutoff HAWAII-2RG array, and a cold baffle reducing the direct thermal radiation to the IR array into the solid angle of f/2. The thermal background is suppressed below 0.1 photons pixel−1 s−1 even in the wide band of 0.9–1.35 μm under the environment of 290 K. WINERED had been installed to the 3.58 m New Technology Telescope at La Silla Observatory, ESO, since 2017. Even with the intermediate size telescope, WINERED was confirmed to provide a limiting magnitude (for SNR = 30 with 8 hr. integration time) of J = 16.4 mag for the Wide mode and J = 15.1 mag for the Hires mode, respectively, under the natural seeing conditions. These sensitivities are comparable to those for the existing NIR-HRSs attached to the 8–10 m class telescopes with AO. WINERED type spectrographs may become a critical not only for the currently on-going extremely large telescopes to reduce the developing cost and time but also for smaller telescopes to extend their lives with long programs.

Résumé :
Background and Significance: Natural killer (NK) cells are cytotoxic lymphocytes that play a key role in recognizing malignant cells. In AML, qualitative and quantitative dysfunction of innate NK cells portends a poor prognosis and adoptive NK cell therapy has been shown to be safe and effective with minimal risk for GVHD (Ciurea et al. 2022; Silla et al. 2021). To circumvent cost and logistics restraints of per patient manufacture of NK cells, we developed a universal donor (UD) NK cell bank for “off-the-shelf” NK cells (UD FC21-NK cells). Donors with optimal NK cell characteristics are identified through the National Marrow Donor Program, and peripheral blood NK cells are expanded for two weeks by co-culture with irradiated K562 feeder cells expressing 4-1BB ligand and membrane bound IL-21 as previously described (Denman et al. 2012). We seek to study the safety and efficacy of multiple doses of UD FC21-NK cells combined with fludarabine and cytarabine (FLA) chemotherapy in patients with relapsed or refractory AML. Study Design and Methods: This open label, single-center phase I/II study will include a dose escalation phase to establish safety and determine the recommended phase II dose followed by an expansion phase to estimate efficacy (complete response rate and MRD negative response rate). Up to 20 patients ages 18-25 with relapsed or refractory AML, including isolated extramedullary disease, will be enrolled. Exclusion criteria include active GVHD, uncontrolled infections, hematopoietic stem cell transplant within 3 months of enrollment, and donor lymphocyte infusion within 30 days of enrollment. Patients will undergo FLA chemotherapy followed by six doses of UD FC21-NK cells given thrice weekly for two weeks (Figure 1). Dose levels include 1 x 10 7 UD FC21-NK cells/kg/dose, 3 x 10 7 UD FC21-NK cells/kg/dose, and 1 x 10 8 UD FC21-NK cells/kg/dose. Patients may receive up to 2 cycles if they do not achieve a CR after cycle 1 or if necessary to bridge to transplant. Peripheral blood samples will be drawn weekly for immune correlatives including in vivo NK cell expansion and persistence. The trial is currently open to enrollment to adult patients with the intent to expand to pediatrics after demonstrating preliminary safety. Clinical trial information: NCT05503134

Résumé :
Context. Dust is known to be produced in the envelopes of asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars, the expanded shells of supernova (SN) remnants, and in situ grain growth within the interstellar medium (ISM), although the corresponding efficiency of each of these dust formation mechanisms at different redshifts remains a topic of debate. During the first Gyr after the Big Bang, it is widely believed that there was not enough time to form AGB stars in high numbers, hence the dust at this epoch is expected to be purely from SNe or subsequent grain growth in the ISM. The time period corresponding to z ~ 5−6 is thus expected to display the transition from SN-only dust to a mixture of both formation channels as is generally recognized at present. Aims. Here we aim to use afterglow observations of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) at redshifts larger than z > 4 to derive host galaxy dust column densities along their line of sight and to test if a SN-type dust extinction curve is required for some of the bursts. Methods. We performed GRB afterglow observations with the seven-channel Gamma-Ray Optical and Near-infrared Detector (GROND) at the 2.2 m MPI telescope in La Silla, Chile (ESO), and we combined these observations with quasi-simultaneous data gathered with the XRT telescope on board the Swift satellite. Results. We increase the number of measured AV values for GRBs at z > 4 by a factor of ~2–3 and find that, in contrast to samples at mostly lower redshift, all of the GRB afterglows have a visual extinction of AV < 0.5 mag. Analysis of the GROND detection thresholds and results from a Monte Carlo simulation show that although we partly suffer from an observational bias against highly extinguished sight-lines, GRB host galaxies at 4 < z < 6 seem to contain on average less dust than at z ~ 2. Additionally, we find that all of the GRBs can be modeled with locally measured extinction curves and that the SN-like dust extinction curve, as previously found toward GRB 071025, provides a better fit for only two of the afterglow SEDs. However, because of the lack of highly extinguished sight lines and the limited wavelength coverage we cannot distinguish between the different scenarios. For the first time we also report a photometric redshift of zphot = 7.88-0.94+0.75 for GRB 100905A, making it one of the most distant GRBs known to date.

Résumé :
Abstract Molecular dynamics in selected novel linear/low-branched polyurethanes (PUs), based on oligo(oxytetramethylene glycol), 4,4'-diphenylmethanediisocyanate (MDI) or 2,6-toluenediisocyanate (TDI), and unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (I) and a derivative of that (II) as chain extenders (CE), were studied by dielectric techniques. Special attention was paid to the investigation of the α relaxation, associated to the glass transition, by dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS) and thermally stimulated depolarization currents (TSDC). The TSDC method was used to study the interfacial Maxwell-Wagner-Sillars (MWS) relaxation, related to the accumulation of charges at the interfaces between soft-segment and hardsegment microdomains. The results obtained by DRS and TSDC were in good agreement with each other and in reasonable agreement with results for the microphase separation (MS) obtained by small-angle X-ray scattering and differential scanning calorimetry. TSDC proved to be an attractive complementary technique to DRS for the study of MS in PUs. The results suggest that the position of the MWS band, as well as its separation from the α band, is a good measure of the degree of MS. As regards the PUs studied here, the degree of MS enhances by increasing the mole ratio of CE, and by replacing MDI by TDI or CE I by CE II.
