Singing voices attract auditory attention in music unlike other sounds. In a previous study, we investigated the salience of instruments and vocals using a detection task in which cued target sounds were to be detected in musical mixtures. The presentation order of cue and mixture signals influenced the detection of all targets except the lead vocals, indicating that listeners focus on voices regardless of whether these are cued or not, highlighting a unique vocal salience in music mixtures. The aim of the present online study was to investigate the extent to which phonological cues, musical features of the main melody, or frequency micro-modulation (FMM) inherent in singing voices contribute to this vocal salience. FMM was either eliminated by using an autotune effect (Experiment 1) or transferred to other instruments (Experiment 2). Detection accuracy was influenced by presentation order for all instrumental targets and the autotuned vocals, but not for the unmodified vocals, suggesting that neither the phonological cues that could provide a facilitated processing of speech-like sounds nor the musical features of the main melody are sufficient to drive vocal salience. Transferring FMM from vocals to instruments or autotuned vocals reduced the magnitude of the order effect considerably. These findings suggest that FMM is an important acoustical feature contributing to vocal salience in musical mixtures.

Nowadays, trajectory control is a significant issue for unmanned micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) due to large disturbances such as wind and storms. Trajectory control is typically implemented using a proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller. In order to achieve high accuracy in trajectory tracking, it is essential to set the PID gain parameters to optimum values. For this reason, separate gain values are set for roll, pitch and yaw movements before autonomous flight in quadrotor systems. Traditionally, this adjustment is performed manually or automatically in autotune mode. Given the constraints of narrow orchard corridors, the use of manual or autotune mode is neither practical nor effective, as the quadrotor system has to fly in narrow apple orchard corridors covered with hail nets. These reasons require the development of an innovative solution specific to quadrotor vehicles designed for constrained areas such as apple orchards. This paper recognizes the need for effective trajectory control in quadrotors and proposes a novel neural network-based approach to tuning the optimal PID control parameters. This new approach not only improves trajectory control efficiency but also addresses the unique challenges posed by environments with constrained locational characteristics. Flight simulations using the proposed neural network models have demonstrated successful trajectory tracking performance and highlighted the superiority of the feed-forward back propagation network (FFBPN), especially in latitude tracking within 7.52745 × 10−5 RMSE trajectory error. Simulation results support the high performance of the proposed approach for the development of automatic flight capabilities in challenging environments.

Through the bands Die tödliche Doris and Pyrolator, this article locates potential sonic escapes from the canonical legacy of German experience in post punk’s technological turn. Against the confinement of the Federal Republic’s attendant freedoms, the logic of technologically driven post punk sought to avoid the hermetic fate of associative social forces past and to test the Federal Republic’s experiential limits of liberation and confinement.

Abstract Facing the problem of having trouble building an exact mathematical model for aerodynamic heat simulation heating system (AHSHS), the conventional PID is considered to have the characteristics of simple operation, easy parameter adjustment, and high accuracy, but it is sensitive to external disturbances and has a poor anti-interference ability. In this paper, the fuzzy PID scheme for AHSHS is introduced to conquer the above problems. Firstly, the affiliation functions are constructed according to the system output errors and deviation variations. Next, the fuzzy rule table is designed, and the parameter autotune of PID is implemented utilizing both fuzzy inference and inverse fuzzification. Finally, comparative analysis through simulation verifies that the fuzzy PID scheme is more advantageous.

This paper describes a novel method for the online identification of an analog second-order plus dead time (SOPDT) model. It requires the measurement of four physical quantities, for which a relay is used. Based on these measurements, the parameters of the model or the regulator settings can be directly determined and used to autotune PI/PID controllers. The steps required to take the necessary measurements and the computational algorithms used to determine the model parameters are presented. The results of the simulation studies, including the measurements and calculations of the obtained models, are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Comparisons were made between the developed SOPDT model and the critically damped SOPDT model that is often used for high-order inertial plants.

Vibrato is a common technique used by singers to add expressiveness to their voice, which involves oscillating slightly above and below the target pitch. Analyzing the features of vibrato could be useful in projects such as identifying singers based on their voice or creating a more realistic autotune. The parameters of the vibrato explored included frequency modulation width, frequency modulation rate, and amplitude modulation width. To collect data on these parameters, various singers of different voice parts were recorded singing scales on different vowels with and without vibrato. The singers were recorded in an anechoic chamber to minimize the impact of the room on the samples. The scales were then cut down into individual pitches that could be analyzed. Using MATLAB, the vibrato parameters of the voice samples were calculated and graphed. The data was then compared between vowels sung by the same singer, and between different singers.

A closed-loop auto-tuner proportional integral derivative (PID) controller for tuning the DC-link voltage, voltage neutral controllers, and DQ axis current for a power factor corrector with Vienna rectifier is developed and discussed in this study. In traditional tuning of these control loops, it is needed to tune one loop at a time manually, which tends to be a difficult and time-consuming process. In this work, we add a closed-loop PID auto-tuner in the control design will help to simplify and speed up this process by tuning all the 4 PID controllers in a single simulation running in a closed loop. Essentially, it runs auto-tuning experiments for the DQ axis -current, output voltage, and neutral point voltage loops by injecting perturbations; recording the output; estimating the plant frequency response, and tuning the PI controller parameters. In DQ-axis control, projections are used to convert time-based3-phase currents into a time invariant 2-coordinate vector. The results after adding the auto-tuner show that the response time improved considerably when the balanced load was introduced with the individual loads being connected. The results show that the neutral point voltage controller did a good job of keeping the voltage neutral point stable compared to the older controller gains.

A regional grid cluster proposal is required to tackle power grid complexities and evaluate the impact of decentralized renewable energy generation. However, implementing regional grid clusters poses challenges in power flow forecasting owing to the inherent variability of renewable power generation and diverse power load behavior. Accurate forecasting is vital for monitoring the imported power during peak regional load periods and surplus power generation exported from the studied region. This study addressed the challenge of multistep bidirectional power flow forecasting by proposing an LSTM autoencoder model. During the training stage, the proposed model and baseline models were developed using autotune hyperparameters to fine-tune the models and maximize their performance. The model utilized the last 6 h leading up to the current time (24 steps of 15 min intervals) to predict the power flow 1 h ahead (4 steps of 15 min intervals) from the current time. In the model evaluation stage, the proposed model achieved the lowest RMSE and MAE scores with values of 32.243 MW and 24.154 MW, respectively. In addition, it achieved a good R2 score of 0.93. The evaluation metrics demonstrated that the LSTM autoencoder outperformed the other models for multistep forecasting task in a regional grid cluster proposal.

Unmanned aerial vehicles or drones are becoming one of the key machines/tools of the modern world, particularly in military applications. Numerous research works are underway to explore the possibility of using these machines in other applications such as parcel delivery, construction work, hurricane hunting, 3D mapping, protecting wildlife, agricultural activities, search and rescue, etc. Since these machines are unmanned vehicles, their functionality is completely dependent upon the performance of their control system. This paper presents a comprehensive approach for dynamic modeling, control system design, simulation and optimization of a quadcopter. The main objective is to study the behavior of different controllers when the model is working under linear and/or non-linear conditions, and therefore, to define the possible limitations of the controllers. Five different control systems are proposed to improve the control performance, mainly the stability of the system. Additionally, a path simulator was also developed with the intention of describing the vehicle’s movements and hence to detect faults intuitively. The proposed PID and Fuzzy-PD control systems showed promising responses to the tests carried out. The results indicated the limits of the PID controller over non-linear conditions and the effectiveness of the controllers was enhanced by the implementation of a genetic algorithm to autotune the controllers in order to adapt to changing conditions.

Abstract The monitoring of cage longitudinal vibration can directly indicate the operational status of mine hoists. However, it is always challenging to collect the sensor signals of moving cages with high dynamic characteristics in real time from complex working environments using traditional monitoring methods. In this study, a more practical hybrid signal fusion approach is proposed to realize estimation of cage longitudinal vibration from a low sampling rate acceleration acquisition signal and a low cost encoder signal for state estimation. A nonlinear differentiator is applied to extract encoder differential signals and expand observation variables. An unscented Kalman observer based on nonlinear mine hoist model is designed to estimate the unknown state. To overcome the influence of the uncertain parameters, an improved differential evolution (DE) algorithm combining parameter adaptive method, reverse learning competition scheme and multiple parallel populations strategy is proposed to find unknown parameters of the observation model and autotune the parameters of the algorithms by using low sampling rate acceleration. Sensor data of the simulated experiment platform were collected and processed by the xPC system to validate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. The experimental results showed that the improved DE (IDE) algorithm had a faster mean time for parameter tuning and the smallest fitness value compared to the standard DE, the particle swarm optimization algorithm and the genetic algorithm. Moreover, the longitudinal vibration estimation system, after parameter tuning by the IDE optimization algorithm, could achieve the purpose of signal estimation, with a smaller estimation error and a better estimation effect.

<p><em>Abstract</em><strong> </strong>– <strong>Hydraulics machines are important parts in semi solid metal forging machine, to form the workpiece by pressing. Semi-solid machine positioning movements are required to have a high accuration, to get the high accuracy of the movement system a servo hydraulic control is added ,which consist of servo valve and digital controller (Aerotech A3200). The digital control parameters (kpos, kp, ki) are used to enhanced the hydraulic movement. To get the effect of the control parameters of the plant (hydraulic servo), a mathematical approach is used for simulation in matlab. In this research, study was done by optimize kp and ki parameters of the control system. Prior to the optimization, simulation was conducted using matlab. Where the simulated testing is using the input unit (step) and frequency (bode) to predict the circumstances that occurred to the plan which is then compared with experimental results. a step response was simulated in matlab to analyze the error of the hydraulic system. Having obtained the minimum error from adjusting kp and ki in matlab, a trend graphic error was used as a guideline to adjust parameter in actual system. The last step is to implement and adjust kp/ki in actual system and measure the real position error.Based on this research, it concluded that the error before adjustment are 0.6118-1.2642 mm for autotune parameter kp 3500000, ki 50000. Abstract: This article describes a neural network-based text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis system that can generate spoken audio in a variety of speaker voices. We show that the proposed model can convert natural-language text-to-speech into a target language, and synthesize and translate natural text-to-speech. We quantify the importance of trained voice modules to obtain the best generalization performance. Finally, using randomly selected speaker embeddings, we show that speech can be synthesized with new speaker voices used in training and that the model learned high-quality speaker representations. We have also introduced a multilingual system and auto-tuner that allows you to translate regular text into another language, which makes multilingualization possible for various applications.

Zusammenfassung. Untersuchungen in der Schweiz, Deutschland und Österreich haben gezeigt, dass Dooring-Unfälle (Unfälle von Radfahrenden, die von einer geöffneten Tür eines Kraftfahrzeugs erfasst werden) entgegen der weitläufigen Meinung zu den häufigen Fahrradunfällen zählen. Die resultierenden Verletzungen sind häufig schwerwiegend und führen oft zur Vorstellung und Behandlung in einem Krankenhaus. Es wurden retrospektiv alle Dooring-Unfälle des universitären Notfallzentrums des Inselspitals Bern der Jahre 2012 bis 2021 identifiziert und ausgewertet. Die Daten wurden aus der Datenbank des Managementsystems des Universitätsspitals Bern mittels einer Suchabfrage mit den Keywords auf Deutsch: «Autotüre», «Autotuere», «Dooring» generiert und anonymisiert. Die meisten Verunfallten waren weiblichen Geschlechts und durchschnittlich 34 Jahre alt; Verletzungen fanden sich vor allem an Kopf und Extremitäten. Die Behandlung konnte meist ambulant erfolgen. Der ISS (Injury Severity Score) betrug durchschnittlich 3,5. Ein Patient musste notoperiert werden. Dies ist die erste Schweizer Studie, die Dooring-Unfälle systematisch erfasst und auswertet. Da Radfahren vor allem im städtischen Raum im Trend liegt und folglich die Zahl der Radfahrenden stetig steigt, ist davon auszugehen, dass auch die Anzahl an Dooring-Verletzten zunehmen wird und entsprechende Präventionsmassnahmen getroffen werden müssen. Die gegenwärtige COVID-19-Pandemie verschärft die Problematik, da im Rahmen des Infektionsschutzes die Anzahl an Radfahrenden und folglich auch an Unfällen insbesondere im städtischen Raum zunimmt. <p>Any mismatch between generation and demand causes frequency to deviate from nominal value which affects the microgrid operation and reliability of power flow. The load frequency changes abnormally, which is fuzzy in nature, due to low system inertia and unpredictable variation in wind and solar irradiance level. So a frequency controller is needed to solve this problem meeting generation and demand of an islanded microgrid system considering the fuzziness in frequency fluctuation. This paper presents a case study of a hybrid microgrid system consisting of PV system, wind turbine generator set, diesel generator set along with storage facility and equipped with a proposed fuzzy-PI controller for frequency control under islanded condition. This controller shows satisfactory steady-state response. Further, performance of the proposed fuzzy-PI controller is verified with that of an autotuned PI controller to get faster response. The change in frequency is found minimum in case of autotuned PI controller as compared to fuzzy-PI controller. The proposed fuzzy-PI controller is validated based on ITAE (4-7%) which is higher than that attained form autotuned-PI controller. The developed model is simulated in Matlab/Simulink environment in this case study.</p>

In today’s chemical, refinery, and petrochemical sectors, separation tanks are one of the most significant separating processes. One or more separation tanks must operate consistently and reliably for multiple facilities’ safe and efficient operation. Therefore, in this paper, a PI controller unit has been designed to improve the performance of the tank level controller of the industrial process in Basrah Refinery Station. The overall system mathematical model has been derived and simulated by MATLAB to evaluate the performance. Further, to improve the performance of the tank level controller, optimal PI parameters should be calculated, which Closed-Loop PID Autotuner has been used for this task. Several experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. The results indicated that the PI controller based on the Autotuner Method is superior to the conventional PI controller in terms of ease to implement and configuration also less time to get optimal PI gains.

The main concept is to design the novel autotuner in a way that it will introduce benefits that arise from the effect of the fusion of the quantitative and qualitative knowledge gained from identification experiments, long-time expertise, and theoretical findings. The novelty of this approach is in the manner in which the expert heuristic knowledge is used for the development of an easy-to-use and time-efficient tuning process. In the proposed approach, the positioner simply learns, mimics, and follows up the tuning process that is performed by an experienced human operator. The major strength of this approach is that all parameters of positioner PID controller can be estimated by only identifying one single parameter that is the effective time constant of the pneumatic actuator. The elaborated autotuning algorithm is experimentally examined with different commercially available pneumatic actuators and control valves. The obtained results demonstrate that the proposed autotuning approach exhibits good performance, usability, and robustness. This should be considered as particularly relevant in the processes of installing, commissioning, and servicing single-action final control elements.

This study aims to determine the understanding of the ethnic community of Nuaulu Autotu Nimoe Ceremony (corpse burial). In this study using an approach approach, with interview and library techniques. The results of the study reveal that the Autotu Nimoe (corpse burial) ceremony is still applied by the Nuaulu ethnic community until now in the same form. The understanding of the Nuaulu ethnic community about this ceremony is that it has been carried out by ancestors from ancient times.
