Résumé :
We developed an attachable magnetic nerve stimulator (AMNS) that connects the metallic instruments to a neurophysiological monitoring unit for monitoring the facial nerve (FN) during ear surgery and present our experiences with intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) of the FN using AMNS. The FN in 20 patients who underwent tympanomastoidectomy for chronic ear disease was examined. The electromyography (EMG) amplitudes of the FN using AMNS were assessed. The EMG amplitudes of the FN at 1.00-mA stimulation during drilling were 265 ± 64 µV in the orbicularis oris and 288 ± 57 µV in the orbicularis oculi. The EMG amplitudes using AMNS attached to the surgical instruments under 0.35-mA stimulus at the tympanic segment of the FN were 196 ± 43 µV in the orbicularis oris and 197 ± 41 µV in the orbicularis oculi. The application of continuous stimulation with burr and surgical instruments using the AMNS is feasible and effective for FN stimulation and identification.

Résumé :
Although the understanding of appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (AMNs) and their relationship with disseminated peritoneal mucinous disease have advanced, the diagnosis, classification, and treatment of AMNs are still confusing for pathologists and clinicians. The Gastrointestinal Pathology Study Group of the Korean Society of Pathologists (GPSG-KSP) proposed a multicenter study and held a workshop for the “Standardization of the Pathologic Diagnosis of the Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasm” to overcome the controversy and potential conflicts. The present article is focused on the diagnostic criteria, terminologies, tumor grading, pathologic staging, biologic behavior, treatment, and prognosis of AMNs and disseminated peritoneal mucinous disease. In addition, GPSG-KSP proposes a checklist of standard data elements of appendiceal epithelial neoplasms to standardize pathologic diagnosis. We hope the present article will provide pathologists with updated knowledge on how to handle and diagnose AMNs and disseminated peritoneal mucinous disease.

Résumé :
We continuously monitored esophageal (Pes) and gastric (Pga) pressures and used these measurements in a three-component model to estimate instantaneous diaphragmatic (DIA), inspiratory accessory muscle (IAM), and postexpiratory recoil (PER) pressures at various times during inspiration. We validated our model both by volume-pressure relationships of the respiratory system (Vrc-Pga and Vab-Pga, where Vrc and Vab are the rib cage and abdominal volumes, respectively) as well as electromyography of the respiratory muscles. Measurements were carried out at rest and during graded treadmill exercise in 11 subjects with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPDs) and 8 age-matched normal subjects (AMNs). AMNs were 59 +/- 2 (SE) yr and had a forced expiratory volume at 1 s (FEV1.0) of 3.6 +/- 0.2 liters; COPDs were 66 +/- 2 yr and had a FEV1.0 of 1.0 +/- 0.1 liters. We noted the following. At rest, both AMNs and COPDs exhibited an increasing DIA pressure (PDIA) across inspiratory time (TI) at rest. As expired minute ventilation increased with exercise intensity, AMNs continued to maintain this PDIA ramp across inspiration; in contrast, COPDs exhibited higher values of PDIA during the first half of TI than during the second half. At all intensities of exercise, COPDs exhibited higher IAM and PER pressures than the AMNs.

Résumé :
Introduction: Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (AMNs) are rare and account for 1% of gastrointestinal neoplasms and the diagnosis is mostly incidental. In spite of advances in the understanding of AMNs and their association with peritoneal disease, AMNs are still confusing entities in respect to their diagnosis and treatment alike. Case Report: We report a case of a 51year old female who presented with abdominal pain and vomiting and was diagnosed as ileo-colic intussusception on ultrasonography and CECT abdomen. Histopathological examination of right hemicolectomy specimen revealed a high grade appendicular mucinous neoplasm with low grade areas. The peri-appendiceal mucin deposition forming a mass in the cecum at the base of appendix was the lead point for intussusception in this case. No features of pseudomyxoma peritonei was seen in this case. This patient is well after 18 months of follow up period. Conclusion: Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms are rare and diagnosis is often difficult as presentation is mostly non-specific. Hence, awareness and further classification of these tumours is essential for diagnosis, determining the risk of recurrence and malignancy and also prognostication.

Résumé :
RNA polymerase (RNAP) is a well-validated target for the development of antibacterial and antituberculosis agents. Because the purification of large quantities of native RNA polymerase from pathogenic mycobacteria is hazardous and cumbersome, the primary screening was carried out using Escherichia coli RNAP. The authors have developed a high-throughput screening (HTS) assay to screen for novel inhibitors of RNAP. In this assay, a fluorescent analog of UTP, gamma-amino naphthalene sulfonic acid (γ-AmNS) UTP, was used as one of the nucleotide substrates. Incorporation of UMP in RNA results in the release of γ-AmNS-PPi, which has higher intrinsic fluorescence than (γ-AmNS) UTP. The assay was optimized in a 384-well format and used to screen 670,000 compounds at a concentration of 10 μM. About 0.1% of the compounds showed more than 60% inhibition in the primary HTS. All the primary actives tested for dose response using the same assay had an EC50 below 100 μM. Eighty percent of the primary HTS actives obtained using E. coli RNAP showed comparable activity against Mycobacterium smegmatis RNAP in the conventional radioactive assay. Activity of hits selected for the hit-to-lead optimization was also confirmed against Mycobacterium bovis RNAP which has >99% sequence identity with Mycobacterium tuberculosis RNAP subunits.

Résumé :
BACKGROUND Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (AMNs), although not classified as rare, are relatively uncommon tumors most often discovered incidentally during colorectal surgery. Accurate identification of AMNs is difficult due to non-specific symptoms, overlapping tumor markers with other conditions, and the potential for misdiagnosis. This underscores the urgent need for precision in diagnosis to prevent severe complications. CASE SUMMARY This case report describes the unexpected discovery and treatment of a low-grade AMN (LAMN) in a 74-year-old man undergoing laparoscopic hemicolectomy for transverse colon adenocarcinoma (AC). Preoperatively, non-specific gastrointestinal symptoms and elevated tumor markers masked the presence of AMN. The tumor, presumed to be an AMN peritoneal cyst intraoperatively, was confirmed as LAMN through histopathological examination. The neoplasm exhibited mucin accumulation and a distinct immunohistochemical profile: Positive for Homeobox protein CDX-2 , Cytokeratin 20, special AT-rich sequence-binding protein 2, and Mucin 2 but negative for cytokeratin 7 and Paired box gene 8. This profile aids in distinguishing appendiceal and ovarian mucinous tumors. Postoperative recovery was uncomplicated, and the patient initiated adjuvant chemotherapy for the colon AC. CONCLUSION This case highlights the diagnostic complexity of AMNs, emphasizing the need for vigilant identification to avert potential complications, such as pseudomyxoma peritonei.

Résumé :
Autologous cell implantation and angiogenic gene therapy have been evaluated in critical limb ischemic patients. Here, we compared the features of these strategies individually and in combination. C57BL/6J mice with ischemic hindlimbs were injected with adherent mononuclear cells (aMNCs) from bone marrow or adenovirus encoding the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) gene (Ad-HGF). Under comparable angiogenic conditions, 10 × 105 aMNCs produced significantly higher amounts of VEGF and FGF-2 and stimulated the number of arterioles in ischemic muscle compared with 1 × 108 plaque-forming units (pfu) of Ad-HGF. Ad-HGF produced 10 times more HGF in ischemic muscle compared with aMNCs. Injection of 0.3 × 105 aMNCs previously transfected with Ad-HGF (aMNC/Ad-HGF) increased blood flow and elevated the numbers of capillaries and arterioles to levels comparable with that seen with 10 × 105 aMNCs or 1 × 108 pfu of Ad-HGF. Hypoxic conditions induced the apoptotic death of aMNCs. However, coincubation with HGF or aMNC/Ad-HGF protected cells against apoptosis. HGF stimulated the migration of aMNCs, and the migration capacity of the aMNC/Ad-HGF group was significantly higher than that in the aMNC/Ad-LacZ group. In conclusion, cell-based HGF gene therapy decreased the number of cells required for neovascularization. This strategy can be an effective angiogenic therapy.

Résumé :
Aminomalononitrile (AMN), the HCN formal trimer, is a molecule of interest in prebiotic chemistry, in fine organic synthesis, and, currently, in materials science, mainly for bio-applications. Herein, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements by means of non-isothermal experiments of the stable AMN p-toluenesulfonate salt (AMNS) showed successful bulk AMN polymerization. The results indicated that this thermally stimulated polymerization is initiated at relatively low temperatures, and an autocatalytic kinetic model can be used to appropriately describe, determining the kinetic triplet, including the activation energy, the pre-exponential factor, and the mechanism function (Eα, A and f(α)). A preliminary structural characterization, by means of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, supported the effective generation of HCN-derived polymers prepared from AMNS. This study demonstrated the autocatalytic, highly efficient, and straightforward character of AMN polymerization, and to the best of our knowledge, it describes, for the first time, a systematic and extended kinetic analysis for gaining mechanistic insights into this process. The latter was accomplished through the help of simultaneous thermogravimetry (TG)-DSC and the in situ mass spectrometry (MS) technique for investigating the gas products generated during these polymerizations. These analyses revealed that dehydrocyanation and deamination processes must be important elimination reactions involved in the complex AMN polymerization mechanism.

Abstract According to the water characteristics of the coastal waters of Hebei Province, this paper selects the data of the Marine Environmental Quality Bulletin of Hebei Province from 2009 to 2018 published on the website of the Department of Natural Resources of Hebei Province, and proposes a red tide monitoring method based on decision tree classification for the pre-processed MODIS 1B image data. The most important thing in the construction of decision tree is the determination of threshold, and this process is finally determined according to the value of Entropy. In this paper, the newly constructed red tide monitoring method is used to extract the occurrence area of red tide and count the red tide area. Finally, the decision tree classification method is compared with other typical red tide monitoring methods. The experimental results show that the red tide occurrence area and statistical area extracted by the red tide monitoring method based on decision tree classification are closer to the data displayed in the Ocean Bulletin, which demonstrates that this method is suitable for red tide monitoring in the coastal waters of Hebei Province.

Résumé :
4-Amino naphthalene-1-sulfonic acid-alginate (AmNS-ALG) bacterial polymer flakes were synthesized and their spectroscopic properties were investigated. The solvatochromic behavior of the fluorescent polymer was monitored in solvents of diverse polarity using the excitation and emission fluorescence spectra combined with fluorescence lifetime measurements. The AmNS-ALG exhibited a positive solvatochromism with regard to the change of solvent polarity from high polar (water) to low polar (butanol). The excitation and emission intensities of AmNS-ALG increased markedly in water compared with alcoholic solvents. Measuring the quantum yield indicated that the highest values of quantum efficiency were obtained in more polar solvents. For AmNS-ALG in water and butanol, the greatest lifetime value was reduced from 11 to 7 ns. The obtained spectroscopic data suggest that the AmNS-ALG could be used as a medium polarity sensor.

Résumé :
AbstractMagnetically responsive optical modulation has emerged as a promising application in various fields such as smart windows, anti‐counterfeiting, and colorimetric sensors, due to its unique advantages in remote and nondestructive control, as well as precise and high‐contrast response. Compared to isotropic counterparts, anisotropic magnetic nanostructures (AMNs) take advantage of the interplay among magnetic dipoles, magnetocrystalline anisotropy, shape anisotropy, and crystal facets to control diverse dimensions of light propagation. By manipulating frequency, amplitude, polarization, and plasmonic resonance, AMNs can provide a variety of functional applications. A comprehensive overview of recent developments in optical modulation based on AMNs with a focus on their emerging applications and design strategies is presented. It starts with a brief introduction of typical AMN building blocks, highlighting various optical modulation modes, including tunable transmission, diffraction, polarization, and plasmonic resonance. The primary focus is to discuss design strategies for various applications, i.e., smart windows, anti‐counterfeiting labels, colorimetric sensors, and multifunctional‐driven devices. It concludes with the challenges and perspectives for magneto‐optical modulation based on anisotropic structures. Overall, this review provides in‐depth insight into building blocks, magnetic modulation strategies, and optical property modulation of AMNs, thereby accelerating practical applications of these structures in functional devices.

Résumé :
ObjectiveTo identify the differences between the pre- and intraoperative characteristics in misdiagnosed appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (AMNs) and those in primary ovarian mucinous tumors (POMTs) and to establish an effective model for differentiating AMNs from pelvic mucinous tumors.MethodsThis study enrolled 70 AMN patients who were misdiagnosed with ovarian tumors and 140 POMT patients who were treated from November 1998 to April 2021 at Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The clinical features and operative findings of the two groups of patients were collected and compared.ResultsThere were significant differences in age and menopausal status, but no difference in the patients’ clinical manifestations between the two groups. The preoperative serum CA125 and CA199 levels were not different between the two groups. The CEA level (31.04 ± 42.7 vs. 7.11 ± 24.2 ng/ml) was higher in the misdiagnosed AMN group (P < 0.001). The AMNs were smaller than the POMTs that were measured preoperatively by ultrasonography (US) (P<0.05) and measured at surgery (P<0.05). Furthermore, the patients with AMNs more commonly had multinodularity and ascites noted on the preoperative US (P<0.001), on CT (P<0.001), and at surgery (P< 0.001). The two groups also differed in the presence of bilateral disease, in the appendiceal appearance and peritoneal dissemination. Subsequently, a prediction model was developed using multivariable logistic regression, which was evaluated through internal validation.ConclusionsThe suspicion of a nongenital organs originated tumor especially origing from appendiceal should be considered in a patient who is older, tumor size less than 12cm, multinodular, presence of mucinous ascites, and elevated serum CEA levels. Bilateral ovarian involvement, peritoneal dissemination, and an abnormal appendiceal appearance found during surgery were the typical features associated with AMNs.

AbstractIncreasing both clean water and green energy demands for survival and development are the grand challenges of our age. Here, we successfully fabricate a novel multifunctional 3D graphene-based catalytic membrane (3D-GCM) with active metal nanoparticles (AMNs) loading for simultaneously obtaining the water purification and clean energy generation, via a “green” one-step laser scribing technology. The as-prepared 3D-GCM shows high porosity and uniform distribution with AMNs, which exhibits high permeated fluxes (over 100 L m−2 h−1) and versatile super-adsorption capacities for the removal of tricky organic pollutants from wastewater under ultra-low pressure-driving (0.1 bar). After adsorption saturating, the AMNs in 3D-GCM actuates the advanced oxidization process to self-clean the fouled membrane via the catalysis, and restores the adsorption capacity well for the next time membrane separation. Most importantly, the 3D-GCM with the welding of laser scribing overcomes the lateral shear force damaging during the long-term separation. Moreover, the 3D-GCM could emit plentiful of hot electrons from AMNs under light irradiation, realizing the membrane catalytic hydrolysis reactions for hydrogen energy generation. This “green” precision manufacturing with laser scribing technology provides a feasible technology to fabricate high-efficient and robust 3D-GCM microreactor in the tricky wastewater purification and sustainable clean energy production as well.

Résumé :
Several ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters involved in the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis and nodulation have been identified. We describe three previously unreported ABC subfamily B transporters, named AMN1, AMN2, and AMN3 (ABCB for mycorrhization and nodulation), that are expressed early during infection by rhizobia and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. These ABCB transporters are strongly expressed in symbiotically infected tissues, including in root-hair cells with rhizobial infection threads and arbusculated cells. During nodulation, the expression of these genes is highly induced by rhizobia and purified Nod factors and is dependent on DMI3 but is not dependent on other known major regulators of infection, such as NIN, NSP1, or NSP2. During mycorrhization their expression is dependent on DMI3 and RAM1 but not on NSP1 and NSP2. Therefore, they may be commonly regulated through a distinct branch of the common symbiotic pathway. Mutants with exonic Tnt1-transposon insertions were isolated for all three genes. None of the single or double mutants showed any differences in colonization by either rhizobia or mycorrhizal fungi, but the triple amn1 amn2 amn3 mutant showed an increase in nodule number. Further studies are needed to identify potential substrates of these transporters and understand their roles in these beneficial symbioses. [Formula: see text] Copyright © 2021 The Author(s). Résumé :
AbstractPorous organic cages (POCs) with abundant porosity and interconnected cavities have garnered significant research attention as a distinct class of porous materials due to their potential applications in gas sorption and separation. However, the ordered arrangement of POCs to eliminate inter‐cage defects remains challenging in the assembly of molecular‐selective membranes, which greatly hinders the effectiveness of pore sieving. Here, amine‐rich molecular nodules (AMNs) are created by reduction of the porous organic cage CC2, in which the spatial structure incurs a vertex collapse into the interior of the original tetrahedral structure, which eliminates the large window of CC2. By an interfacial reaction with terephthaloyl chloride, the AMNs assemble into a cross‐linked topological network having angstrom‐scale channels for selective CO2/N2 separation. The AMN‐assembled membrane displays a high CO2 permeance of 752 GPU, a CO2/N2 selectivity of 67 at 1 bar, as well as high‐pressure resistance, operational stability, and scalable manufacture potential, which provides a cost‐effective and practical solution for developing membranes for capturing CO2 from industrial flue gas.

Aiming at the shortcoming of attribute reduction algorithm based on discernibility matrix, an attribute reduction method based on sample extraction and priority is presented. Firstly, equivalence classes are divided using quick sort for computing compressed decision table. Secondly, important samples are extracted from compressed decision table using iterative self-organizing data analysis technique algorithm(ISODATA). Finally, attribute reduction of sample decision table is conducted based on the concept of priority. Experimental results show that the attribute reduction method based on sample extraction and priority can significantly reduce the overall execution time and improve the reduction efficiency.

Abstract Precise motion control is a challenging and important goal in the application of mobile robots. The mechanical structure of a novel mobile robot is presented. Using the support vector machine learning control method in statistical theory, the human control strategy is represented by the parametric model without knowledge of the actual robot mathematical model. Moreover, using the learning controller, the position motion control experiments of the robot are carried out. The results of the experiments show that this learning control method is feasible and valid for the precise position control of the mobile robot, and the maxim error is less than 32 cm in a 10 m linear movement.

Résumé :
Abstract With greater energy pressure and stricter emission standards, increasing power output and reducing emissions of engines are simultaneously required. To achieve this, considerable researches are motivated. In recent years, key and representative developments in the field of high-efficiency and clean engines have been carried out. Among them, a low temperature combustion concept called gasoline compression ignition (GCI) is widely considered by universities and research institutions around the world, since it has the potential to achieve ultra-low NO X and soot emissions while maintaining high thermal efficiency. However, GCI combustion mode has certain issues to be solved, such as combustion instability under low-load conditions. Therefore, this paper reviews the experimental, computational and optical studies on the combustion stability control of GCI combustion mode during low loads and describes the recent progress to improve combustion stability as well as points out the future work finally.

Abstract Chaotic dynamics of various continuous and discrete-time mathematical models are used frequently in many practical applications. Many of these applications demand the chaotic behavior of the model to be robust. Therefore, it has been always a challenge to find mathematical models which exhibit robust chaotic dynamics. In the existing literature there exist a very few studies of robust chaos generators based on simple 1-D mathematical models. In this paper, we have proposed an infinite family consisting of simple one-dimensional piecewise smooth maps which can be effectively used to generate robust chaotic signals over a wide range of the parameter values.

Résumé :
Abstract Tomb murals are the special kind of murals that are buried underground. Due to the narrow exit of the tomb passage, the tomb murals were excavated by dividing the whole mural into blocks, which made lots of information missing between the blocks. The digital restoration technology Image inpainting uses the edge information around the missing parts to spread the information inside of the defect area and fills the information from the outside to the inside. But it is not suitable for filling the missing parts between the tomb mural blocks. Because these parts are large for exemplar-based inpainting which may make texture dislocation and for PDE which may make cartoon blur. It is a need to generate the information outwards to complete the information. The generative adversarial network uses deep learning training by the murals remains to generate the information from inside to outside, but the typical GAN doesn‘t have a good nonlinear feature. This paper provided a generating technology based on the deep convolution generative adversarial network to rebuild the missing information between the tomb mural blocks. It built the training data set of the simulation platform with Keras and designed a whole mural generation scheme based on DCGAN. In order to get better generated results to avoid the bad artifacts; it adds the nonlinear layers by choosing 13 layers convolution and 2 deconvolution layers of the generator and contained 5 layers convolution discriminator; it designed a new phased nonlinear loss function by using Pycharm pretreatment for Numpy array file data sets; finally, it completed the generate tomb mural information to obtain the good simulation effect.

Résumé :
Abstract Entering the new normal of economy symbolises the innovation of growth mode and continuous optimisation and upgradation of economic structure. Using EG index, this paper measures the agglomeration degree of 31 provinces and cities and 31 manufacturing industries in China from 2012 to 2016; the results show that under the new normal, the degree of industrial agglomeration in China's manufacturing industry remains basically stable, but the overall situation is still in a state of moderate agglomeration, the regions with higher degree of concentration continue to present the pattern of ‘one pole, two domains’. To further reveal the relationship between the concentration of Chinese manufacturing industry and regional economic growth, the GMM method of dynamic panel two-stage system was used, and the results showed that industrial agglomeration and economic growth do not have simple linear relationship, but inverted U-type relationship. There was a dynamic continuation effect of regional economic growth, and external factors such as fixed asset investment and government financial expenditure can promote regional industrial economic growth. Finally, the enlightenment of the complete article is given.

Résumé :
Abstract Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has very high spectral efficiency and system capacity. NOMA has become one of the most competitive access solutions in 5G systems. In this article, the principle of NOMA is discussed first. Then, the NOMA system capacity optimisation problems are studied. Signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) is an important factor which affects the system capacity. The SINR of current user n is only related to the power allocated to users n+1 to N with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) but not interfered by users with low SNR. Therefore, a tree topology power allocation (TTPA) algorithm is introduced. When users are allocated to each layer of the tree structure, the current power allocation of each layer will not be affected by the previous layer. Through theoretical analysis, TTPA can achieve the same performance as the full search power allocation algorithm; however, its computational complexity is reduced from exponential to constant. It can be seen from the numerical simulation results that the proposed algorithm can achieve higher system capacity and has lower computational complexity.
