Résumé :
The World Wide Web is regarded widely as an invaluable asset to teaching and extension programs. Data supporting this assertion can be gathered actively or passively and can be analyzed to aid decision makers in matters of personnel evaluation and resource allocation. Most Web server software applications keep a log of connections by time, location, and file size transferred. The server logs of Aggie Horticulture, the Web site of the Texas Horticulture program, are analyzed bi-weekly using WebStat 2.3.4 and the number of logins, file size transferred (total and amount per sub-site), and client domain are tabulated. The number of “hits” increased from 15,000 to 120,000 per month (mid-February to mid-March of 1995 and 1996, respectively) over the last year. The logins came from 61 Internet domains representing 56 different countries. The “net” and “com” domains exhibited the greatest increase. “Active” data acquisition through a guest register at one of the sub-sites indicated that only 9% of the visitors registered. However, the data obtained from the active registrants were useful in determining the distribution of users by state and county within Texas.

Résumé :
Abstract The CUPP platform includes a web server for functional annotation and sub-grouping of carbohydrate active enzymes (CAZymes) based on a novel peptide-based similarity assessment algorithm, i.e. protein grouping according to Conserved Unique Peptide Patterns (CUPP). This online platform is open to all users and there is no login requirement. The web server allows the user to perform genome-based annotation of carbohydrate active enzymes to CAZy families, CAZy subfamilies, CUPP groups and EC numbers (function) via assessment of peptide-motifs by CUPP. The web server is intended for functional annotation assessment of the CAZy inventory of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms from genomic DNA (up to 30MB compressed) or directly from amino acid sequences (up to 10MB compressed). The custom query sequences are assessed using the CUPP annotation algorithm, and the outcome is displayed in interactive summary result pages of CAZymes. The results displayed allow for inspection of members of the individual CUPP groups and include information about experimentally characterized members. The web server and the other resources on the CUPP platform can be accessed from https://cupp.info.

Résumé :
The nature of Internet and Intranet Web applications has changed from a static content-distribution medium into an interactive, dynamic medium, often used to serve multimedia from back-end object-relational databases to Web-enabled clients. Consequently, developers need to make an informed technological choice for developing software that supports a Web-based application for distributing multimedia over networks. This decision is based on several factors. Among the factors are ease of programming, richness of features, scalability, and performance. The research focuses on these key factors when distributing images from an Oracle9i database using Java Servlets, JSP, ASP, and ASP.NET as the server-side development technologies. Prototype applications are developed and tested within each technology: one for single image serving and the other for multiple image serving. A matrix of recommendations is provided to distinguish which technology, or combination of technologies, provides the best performance and development platform for image serving within the studied envirorunent.

There is always a need for easy-to-follow processes that enable accurate and non-time consuming solutions. Nowadays we see a lot of different approaches to development processes in software engineering. This project is concerned with how to manage a software development process in a reliable, secure and efficient way. Software is available which provides some help for project managers / administrators to work more productively, with effective communication. Using such systems, it is possible to keep track of all the phases of development, including task distribution, making maximum use of previous hands-on experience and increasing productivity, to deliver a finished product in minimum time. No existing solution, however, fulfills all the desirable criteria. This paper describes the motivation, design and implementation of an improved development management system using Active Server Pages and Microsoft Internet Information Services with a backend Microsoft Access Database developed using a waterfall software development process. The resulting system is described and evaluated. This system will be beneficial for software houses, because they can communicate on the web, allowing efficiency gains by avoiding the need to call meetings for distribution of tasks among employees, with the additional advantage of location-transparent team management through the Internet.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
This paper aims to present the steps, methods and technologies used to create the new management module of the automatic allocation of students' optional assignments for mid-term projects, homework and graduation thesis, using a virtual education system. The Easy-Learning platform provides a framework for any type of on-line or off-line activity in distance/virtual learning, which is useful for tutors and students at any level of education and training. To achieve this new integrated module within the platform, PHP5, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 technologies, MariaDB database and REST, Android, Apache (web server) services were used, as well as a number of methodologies for securing communication between a server application and a client application. The paper presents in detail the new proposed procedure and emphasizes the achieved benefits and progress, with numerous examples to illustrate the methodology of design, implementation and use of this module. The Easy-Learning platform is a complex e-learning system running on a web server (local or remote) and was created with dynamic web pages using Symfony framework, based on the object-oriented side of the PHP web programming language. Among other features, the platform uses MariaDB as a database management system for storing and retrieving information. The main reason to choose the development environment is given by the minimum requirements needed for the applications (running on the server). Initially, the allocation of optional assignments (for mid-term projects, homework or graduation thesis) was difficult due to numerous, simultaneous and frequently overlapped requests received by tutors from different students and to the fact that the records and the allocation process were not dynamically displayed, so that a real-time evidence was impossible to achieve. The new module proposed by the present paper automates the optimal allocation of optional assignments. The tutors are responsible for entering the system the items of the optional assignments list. The details are as follows: ID (unique item identifier); Title; Type (project/license/dissertation); Coordinator (tutor); Years of study; Series of study; Actions: details, assigned students, edit, delete. The details of an item are: Title; Description; Requirements; Type (project/license/dissertation); Years of study; Status (inactive/active). In order to correctly complete the allocation process, an item must be assigned to a unique student. The tutor has the possibility of adding manually a student to the assigned items list. This process implies redirecting to a form where the tutor needs to select the appropriate student for a particular item. The Easy-Learning platform has undergone many changes over the years, from a simple project that has become complex and efficient, satisfying the needs of a virtual classroom. Easy-Learning is now a tool that may help students and tutors both. It can contribute to centralize information useful to students, thus avoiding congestion situations. Nowadays, the platform has achieved a high degree of maturity, using Symfony's framework - which significantly simplifies repetitive tasks and enables automatic generation of entities - but also other modern technologies. The new procedure of automatically allocation of optional assignments benefits from all these facilities.

Résumé :
The overall aim of this study is to determine the performance of selected web-based dynamic middleware systems that are used for designing and implementing dynamic web application systems. This is necessary in a world where more applications are moving to the web, and slow performance of such applications can discourage users, thereby reducing profit, and reduce programmers’ productivity and quality of applications due to slow testing and execution. Java Servlets, Java Server Pages (JSP), Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP), and Personal Home Page (PHP) were used to perform some operations on the server, like retrieving all records from a database stored on the server. The time taken since the query is initiated from the browser, to the time the query result is displayed on the client browser were measured for each of the four middleware systems as an estimate for their performance. Records were increased in multiples of thousands to estimate scalability along with the performance. PHP proved to be more efficient and more scalable.

Résumé :
The purpose of this paper is to present to creative manner of designing and implementing the backend and frontend of the interface for a complex learning system in architectural management, using advanced technologies: ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, C#, AJAX and JASON. The resulting platform can be used as general template for creating tools in virtual learning and can be extended to any other study domain. The information processing techniques are of two different types, according to the type of the user who accesses the page. For example, an average user can access all the pages on the website, but the only action he can perform to the sheets is viewing them, while a registered user, with the according privileges, has the right to edit and add new sheets. The goal of the paper is to present the conception and implementing of the visual interface, along with the functionalities behind its components and the classes which help in the process of data manipulation and database connections. The administration & user interface was created, along with the necessary bonds needed for integrating the database and the map, to separate the functions for a fluid workflow. The process of integrating the two modules (database & map) within the interface is presented. The integration of the database and the communication with it was possible with the help of link classes, written in C# and based on the Three Layer Architecture. The map was added to the interface by means of two links referral, one of them being locally hosted and edited for optimizing and adding new functionalities. The presentation layer was built in ASP.NET with the help of HTML and CSS elements. The code behind was written in C# and JavaScript, the relationship between these two languages being in close link relationship. The main part of the developing process is to create the backend and the frontend. These two entities have a strong bondage between them and refer to certain components of the software. Generally speaking, the frontend represent the components which collect and present the data to the user and the backend represent the components which validate process and manipulate that data. In other words, the frontend represent the part which the users visualize and interact with (buttons, menus and textboxes) realized with the means of technologies like ASP.NET, HTML for interface, CSS for styling and JavaScript to make it interactive. The backend represents all that happens in the code behind, starting from the database until the data reaches the browser, specifically everything that happens on the server-side. In the backend, the most consistent part is represented by the database link and data process classes, organized and created based on the Three Layer Architecture. The components belonging to the frontend or the components running on the client-side are presented. The order of their presentation is the same order as the functional classes attached to them, previously described in the backend, which is actually the logical order of traversing the website: Start page, Advanced search, and Map page. The most important aspect of this platform is its complex and unified nature, which required the inventively carry out the design and implementation of the proposed solutions. In conclusion, one can say that the paper presents a complex project that provides a real help for specialists in the field of architecture able to approach a wide and complex range of specifications and standards that should be followed in the application.

Résumé :
The Easy-Learning platform is a system of online education developed as an original product of the Department of Applied Electronics and Information Engineering from the University Politehnica of Bucharest. The platform has undergone many changes over the years, from a simple project and becoming a complex and efficient work in virtual learning environment. At this time, the platform has achieved a high degree of maturity, obtained using Symfony's framework, which simplifies many repetitive tasks, enables automatic generation entities and networking with other technologies currently used. To design and implement version 2.0 of the Easy-Learning platform the following technologies were used: PHP5, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, MariaDB database management system (compared to MySQL in previous versions), RESTful Web services, Android, Apache (as Web server) and methodologies for securing the communication between an application server and a client application. Due to technology and security issues that arise in older versions of each framework, it was decided rewriting the PHP code of the platform in order to use the Symfony 2 framework. Accessing the interfaces for administrator, tutor and student is a secure action using a user name and password so that access is not allowed to unauthenticated users. On a server running MariaDB multiple users may be defined. For security reasons, the root user should be used only for administrative purposes. For each user to use the system, it must establish an individual account, which corresponds to a user name and password. They must not be identical usernames and passwords outside MariaDB system (for example, user names and passwords for UNIX and NT). Like MySQL, MariaDB has a complex system of privileges. A privilege is the right to perform a particular action on an object and is associated with a particular user. The concept is very similar to permissions on files. When creating users in MariaDB, it is assigned a set of privileges to specify the actions they can perform in the system. JavaScript scripts are limited by severe restrictions imposed by web browsers. For security reasons, JavaScript can not read, write, create and delete files on your hard disk. In terms of security, PHP provide developers a flexible and efficient set of safety measures. Developing of open-source PHP caused its rapid adaptation to the Web needs, and an efficient and secure code. PHP 5.5 (2013) and 5.6 (2014) are stable versions, including solving security issues. Twig is a templating system that supports PHP. Among the advantages of its use it is the security function. Twig has a sandbox mode used to evaluate the code. Twig can be used as a templating language where users are allowed to execute design actions. Among the recent improvements made to the Easy-Learning platform are rewriting PHP code, so that the Symfony 2 framework structure can be used, and securing authentication forms and private sections using an SSL certificate. Symfony 2 allows passwords to be encrypted using different algorithms, such as MD5, SHA1, SHA512 and bcrypt. The bcrypt algorithm is a function of a key derivation for passwords based on the Blowfish cipher. Besides that has defined a leap to protect against a dictionary-based attacks prefilled with different values, it is an adaptive function: in time, the number of iterations can be increased to make it more difficult to decrypt password. The bcrypt encryption algorithm used for passwords in Symfony 2 is presented. Because the platform works with personal data is needed as they are sent to the server through a secure protocol to prevent attacks like Man in the Middle or data theft. To demonstrate the implementation of this requirement, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates generated on the server development were used. This means that accessing the Easy-Learning platform browser will display a warning message indicating that the SSL certificate was not issued by an authority. The operation of porting the new version of the platform to the production server introduced a valid certificate. Sections that were considered opportune to introduce the HTTPS protocol are: login page, admin interface, tutor interface and student interface. Communication via HTTPS is done using the (public key, private key) pair. Thus, the data entered in the form is encrypted using a public key and sent to server. The server, using the private key, can decrypt and extract the contents of the data sent. The procedures for securing a specific page in Symfony 2 and the entire admin interface are presented. In order to test platform vulnerabilities, Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner 8 was used. With this tool, were tested vulnerabilities as: SQL Injection, XSS, Trojan Script, Week_Password_Basic_Auth, CRLF Injection, PHP Code Injection and CSRF. The results obtained by running this toll are presented. The recent contributions to the Easy-Learning platform includes creating a RESTful web service that can be used by external applications to access public and private information, based on a token generated for each student using its authentication service. In perspective, it is intended to add an external caching system such as Varnish.

Résumé :
Westinghouse is currently conducting the pre-application licensing of the International Reactor Innovative and Secure (IRIS) on behalf of the IRIS Consortium. One of the key aspects of the IRIS design is the concept of safety-by-design. The PRA is being used as an integral part of the design process. As part of this effort, a PRA of the initial design was generated to address two key areas. First, the IRIS PRA supported the evaluation of IRIS design issues by providing a solid risk basis for design and analyses required for the pre-licensing evaluation of the IRIS design. The PRA provides the tool for quantifying the benefit of the safety-by-design approach. Second, the current PRA task is beginning the preparation of the more complete PRA analyses and documentation eventually required for Design Certification. One of the key risk-related goals for IRIS is to reduce the EPZ to within the exclusion area by demonstrating that the off-site doses are consistent with the US Protective Action Guidelines (PAGs) for initiation of emergency response so that the required protective actions would be limited to the exclusion area. The results of the preliminary PRA indicated a core damage frequency of 1.2E−08 for internal initiators. This is a very good result but much work is needed to meet the ambitious goal of no emergency response. The next phase of the PRA analyses will involve a two-fold expansion of the PRA. First, as the design and analyses approach a greater level of detail, the assumptions used for the initial PRA will be reviewed and the models will be revised as needed to reflect the improved knowledge of the system design and performance. Furthermore, as the full plant design advances, the PRA will be expanded to incorporate risk associated with external challenges such as seismic and fire, and to address low power and shutdowns modes of operation. As with the initial work, the PRA will serve as a tool to help improve, not just to evaluate the design.

The objective of this communication is to present some feminist practices that have made use of technologies in museums in Mexico, as well as to reflect on digital sovereignty, the cultural rights that are exercised in social networks and if they are registered in the "Feminist internet" from museums. In recent years, feminist movements in Mexico have taken on political relevance, in public spheres and social intervention. Many of them have been judged negatively for making use of cultural property, which has triggered polarized opinions.Although the position of Mexican museums in this regard is reserved, there is an openness to practices with a gender perspective, from their research, cultural offerings and temporary exhibitions. With the confinement measures derived from COVID-19, it was clear that the museums' strategies to continue their activities were focused and turned over to Social Networks and their web pages. Likewise, it was possible to continue not only with the practices with a gender perspective that were incipiently carried out in these spaces, but also the contents of a feminist nature and of cultural political action were increased.Among the most notable examples were the opening of new virtual spaces such as the University Museum of Contemporary Art, with its Instagram Brillantinas MUAC, where various feminist materials from culture are published and the dialogue and the deepening of various issues are encouraged. gender perspective. On the other hand, the digital and cultural activity as a result of the Commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, was adopted by a large number of museums from private to state, either with a mention of the subject or an activity or series of activities in this regard. It was an exercise that transcended 10 days of activism and that obtained an interesting negative and positive response from the public. Finally, one of the most interesting exercises that were achieved despite the difficulties due to the health situation, was the initiative "Laboratory: Women in the Museum" launched by the Raquel Padilla Observatory of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, which through various digital tools, it was possible to carry out a feminist exercise and digital sovereignty in the development of prototypes with a gender perspective and for the prevention of violence against women.
