Résumé :

Dans le domaine des géosciences, l'utilisation d'appareils photographiques automatiques fixes pour la surveillance des mouvements gravitaires est de plus en plus courante. Les séries d'images ainsi acquises permettent de suivre dans le temps l'évolution du mouvement étudié. Bien que les appareils soient fixes, on observe que les conditions du milieu extérieur peuvent entraîner un déplacement/décalage des images qui peut dépasser le déplacement dû au phénomène étudié. Nous proposons ici une méthode automatique qui analyse le déplacement apparent sur toute l'image afin de segmenter la scène en séparant les zones du terrain en mouvement des zones fixes. Nous illustrons la méthode sur une série d'images, acquises au cours de l'été 2016, du glacier rocheux du Laurichard (Hautes Alpes, France), dont les mouvements sont par ailleurs bien connus et étudiés.

Le due decisioni sopra riportate riguardano la violazione del regolamento sulle pratiche commerciali in due situazioni analoghe: in entrambi i casi il costo del biglietto pubblicizzato dall'impresa di trasporto non comprendeva un costo aggiuntivo che veniva addebitato al momento dell'effettivo acquisto del biglietto. Più precisamente, la decisione australiana che sanziona tale violazione segue un'altra decisione dello stesso tribunale che ha accertato la responsabilità: presenti due parti davanti al tribunale, l'Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) da un alto e la compagnia aerea Virgin dall'altro, la sanzione è applicata dal giudice con riferimento all'importo concordato tra le parti (sanzione congiunta), previa valutazione da parte del giudice dell'adeguatezza di tale importo. La decisione italiana è resa dall'Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM), la quale, in un procedimento avviato dall'Autorità stessa nei confronti della compagnia marittima Moby, ne stabilisce la responsabilità, vieta la diffusione e la prosecuzione della pratica e condanna la società stessa al pagamento di un sanzione

Résumé :

This research aimed to see the students’ perception in practicing speaking English using the English Domino game. It was conducted using qualitative research with a case study approach. Fifteen students of the English Department at a private university in Muara Bungo were chosen by using purposive sampling. Furthermore, this research used interviews related to their experience and motivation in speaking English with the domino games to collect the data. The results indicated that the students’ motivation in practicing speaking in English increased by using the English domino games. Most of the students felt relaxed and confident to speak while playing English Domino. They were also excited and motivated to take their turns in telling the connected story. This kind of game can be an alternative for teaching English, particularly speaking in a non-English speaking country.

The third wave of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) surged to Asia in the early 2000s with the Asian type of domino effect – the domino of proposing new bilateral agreements. However, with the launch of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations, the mode of domino returned to the normal track (the domino of participating in existing agreements), which seems to have led to the end of third wave of FTAs. However, the number of FTAs in Asia would again increase in the near future, counter-reacting to TPP and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). In fact, the majority of recent FTA proposals in Asia are those proposed by non-TPP parties, especially by China, or those between Asia and European Commission (EC). This short paper will briefly discuss three issues in turn to provide an overview of the state of play of FTA policy activity in Asia: (i) the latest trend of FTAs in Asia; (ii) what is likely to happen to Asia’s FTA scene in near future; and (iii) desirable and effective trade policy in the era of FTAs.

Il continuo mutare di alleanze dei comuni italiani, cosě lontano dai rigidi schemi storiografici che vorrebbero ciascuna cittÀ per sempre ideologicamente schierata, dettato da ragioni di varia natura e in continua evoluzione, dette luogo a esperimenti politici diversi che sintentizzavano gl'interessi delle comunitÀ e degli individui al potere. Tra le soluzioni piů "spregiudicate" sono da registrare i patti di fusione degli organismi comunali, piuttosto frequenti in Piemonte. Uno degli strumenti di realizzazione di queste particolari alleanze fu il reciproco acquisto di una casa in cittÀ per stabilirvi la residenza collettiva del comune: una specie di ambasciata o, meglio, un pegno del valore dell'immobile. Era, in veritÀ, la normale procedura attuata dai comuni nei patti di cittadinatico, con i quali si invitavano le popolazioni rurali e i loro signori a risiedere entro le mura, chiedendo una minima permanenza stabile: se il contraente avesse abbandonato la sua residenza entro la scadenza, avrebbe perso la proprietÀ della casa a favore del comune. Il possesso di case garantiva dunque l'impegno dell'alleanza. Non si trattava, se non raramente, di un luogo di rappresentanza del comune, che vi agě in poche occasioni. Piuttosto, fu un luogo di prestigio che alimentava i buoni rapporti fra le istituzioni che rappresentava. La manutenzione dell'edificio risultava dunque non secondaria e se ne occupava volentieri il comune ospitante a spese di quello ospitato, che generalmente recuperava l'investimento fattovi affittando i locali a qualche concittadino emigrato.

Résumé :

Based on the discovery that there is a good amplitude correlation between neighbour bins of non-stationary signals, we presented a new blind source separation method using Domino Effect relevance ranking that can eliminate the permutation indeterminacy. Since there is no complicated mathematic derivation in this method, it is relatively simple in theory. Furthermore, the outcome of simulation experiments confirmed its validity in blind source separation of communication signals such as QPSK signal. In addition, this method is robust and time saving.

De nombreuses études montrent qu’un nombre important d’immigrants n’arrive pas à obtenir un emploi dans leur domaine de spécialisation, et ce, malgré un niveau de scolarité beaucoup plus élevé que celui des personnes nées au Canada. Une grande partie de ces recherches mettent l’accent sur les provinces de l’Est canadien et les communautés immigrantes anglophones ou allophones. Cet article comble des lacunes importantes, car il explore l’expérience des immigrants francophones originaires de l’Afrique subsaharienne en ce qui a trait à la reconnaissance et la non-reconnaissance de leurs diplômes et expertise professionnelle en Alberta. En se basant sur des analyses documentaires et des entrevues semi-dirigées, l’auteure précise qu’à l’instar d’autres provinces canadiennes, les immigrants en Alberta souffrent de la non-reconnaissance de leurs acquis en raison de facteurs tels que l’âge, le manque de connaissance des systèmes académiques de certains pays en voie de développement et le racisme sur le marché du travail. La non-reconnaissance du français comme valeur ajoutée et la marginalisation sous forme de sous-emploi plutôt que de chômage contribuent au problème. En soulignant les succès et certaines lacunes dans les initiatives qu’a mises en oeuvre le Gouvernement de l’Alberta dans ce domaine, l’auteure fait des suggestions susceptibles d’améliorer cette situation.

The paper describes a rather general software mechanism developed primarily for decision making in dynamic and uncertain environments (typical application: managing overbooking). DOMINO (Decision-Oriented Mechanism for "IF" as Non-deterministic Operator) is meant to deal with undecidability due to any kind of future contingents. Its description here is self-contained but, since a validation is underway within a much broader undertaking involving agent-oriented software, to impair redundancy, several aspects explained in very recent papers are here abridged. In essence, DOMINO acts as an "IF" with enhanced semantics: it can answer "YES", "NO" or "UNDECIDABLE in the time span given" (it renders control to an exception handler). Despite its trivalent logic semantics, it respects the rigours of structural programming and the syntax of bivalent logic (it is programmed in plain C++ to be applicable to legacy systems too). As for most novel approaches, expectations are high, involving a less algorithmic, less probabilistic, less difficult to understand method to treat undecidability in dynamic and uncertain environments, where postponing decisions means keeping open alternatives (to react better to rapid environment changes).

Questo lavoro è un commento alla sentenza della CIG, di merito, nel caso Immunités et procédures pénales (Guinée Équatoriale c. France), e, allo stesso tempo, uno studio del problema – inedito nella giurisprudenza internazionale – emergente dalla sentenza, quello del momento in cui e delle modalità attraverso le quali un determinato immobile acquista, nel diritto internazionale, lo status di «premises of the mission». La sentenza della Corte, che ha ritenuto necessario il consenso dello Stato accreditatario, è criticata. Lo studio e l’analisi della prassi degli Stati, della Convenzione di Vienna sulle relazioni diplomatiche, della storia dell’istituto dell’inviolabilità dei locali diplomatici e della (poca) letteratura che ha trattato il problema, dimostrano che esiste una norma del diritto internazionale che determina che l’acquisto dello status di «premises of the mission» avvenga attraverso il (e nel momento del) solo inizio d’uso effettivo dei locali per l’esercizio delle funzioni diplomatiche. La sentenza della CIG «crea» quindi un requisito – il consenso dello Stato accreditatario – che non esiste nel diritto internazionale, e ciò comporta gravi potenziali problemi di contrasto e coesistenza tra situazioni di fatto (reali) e situazioni puramente giuridico-formali.

D. 7,4,29 and in iure cessio ususfructus domino proprietatisSummaryThe problem discussed in my article concerns the non-transferability of the usufruct right and a remedy for this non-transferibility that consisted in the possibility of selling or hiring the usufruct to third parties. The usufruct as being servitus personarum was strictly attached to the person of usufructuary and could not be validly transferred to third parties. In iure cessio ususfructus could be done exclusively toward the bare owner, inwhich case the right of usufruct was extinguished through consolidationwith the property right, but not in favor of the third parties (Gai. 2,30; D. 23,3,66; I. 2,4,3). Nevertheless usufructuary could dispose his right on the contractual level and grant the enjoyment of the usufruct to otherpersons on the basis of the contract of sale or hire or donation orprecarium (such a contract could be validly stipulated until the death ofusufructuary in which moment the usufruct right was always extinguishedthrough the consolidation with the property right).In all cases mentioned above the usufructuary retained his right which was not extinguished by non usus since it was possible to recognize a purchaser, a hirer, a donee and any other person authorized by usufructuary as exercising this right in the name of the usufructuary. Even though that person who was enjoying the right of usufruct subsequently sold or hired it to another person the right of usufruct did not extinguish because any other person to whom a person authorized by usufructuary granted the enjoyment of the usufruct was still exercising this right in the name of the actual usufructuary.The particular case of such contract made by the usufructuary was analyzed by Pomponius in D. 7,4,29pr.-1: the owner of the land has rented it from the usufructuary and then sold it without reserving the right of usufruct. In this case, even though the vendor pays the rent to the usufructuary (the bare owner is liable to the usufructuary for quanti interfuit) the righ of usufruct is lost because the purchaser would have held the land in his own name, not that of the usufructuary. Similarly in case in which the bare owner purchased the usufruct from the usufructuary and then sold it to another person, the usufructuary lost his right since the buyer could not be deemed recognized as exercising this right in the name of the usufructuary.We can thus note that the effects of selling or hiring the usufruct to the bare owner were in fact very close to the effect of in iure cessio ususfructus domino proprietatis - the usufructuary lost his right and the bare owner could dispose his property without any limitations. The formal difference concerned the moment in which the right of usufruct was extinguished. In case of in iure cessio ususfructus domino proprietatis it was extinguished through the consolidation with the property in the moment in which the usufructuary ceased his right toward the bare owner. In case of selling or hiring this right to the bare owner, theoretically the usufructuary retained his usufruct until this owner dispose his property to third person in his own name (without reserving the existing usufruct), but in fact since the moment he sold or hired his right to the owner he lost the possibility of exercising his right and the owner could dispose his property as if it was not limited by any existing servitude. Such a solution did not cause any damage to the usufructuary (in both cases he was paid by the owner an economical value of his right) and at the same time it became possible to avoid the maintaining of limitations of one’s property and to protect the person who bought the thing from the owner without being informed ofthe existence of any servitude.

À partir d’un terrain original et expérimental – le projet de création d’un pôle d’arts visuels à vocation internationale à Lauris (dans le Luberon), un village de 3 200 habitants –, l’article propose d’étudier l’un de ces lieux en s’intéressant tout particulièrement aux rejets et résistances dont il a été l’objet et à leurs conséquences.

Dans cet article, Hélène Dumais, linguiste et spécialiste de la rédaction non sexiste, a regroupé les propos de huit spécialistes de la langue concernant la parité linguistique en français. Ces expertes ont répondu à un questionnaire en vue de faire le point sur le sujet : situation actuelle dans leur pays, avancées ou stagnation, initiation des jeunes générations et avenir en la matière sont autant d’aspects abordés. Il en ressort que la féminisation des titres progresse lentement mais sûrement (elle est même acquise dans certains cas), alors que la question des textes, où l’on tient à manifester la présence des femmes, suscite des réactions diverses. Contexte : Une communication efficace est essentielle à une relation médecin-patient de qualité. Pour-tant l’enseignement de celle-ci reste rare ou non obligatoire, et de qualité variable. Objectif : Décrire les moyens de formation à la communication existants dans le domaine de la santé, les compétences communicationnelles acquises par ces moyens de formation ainsi que les méthodes d’éva-luation des enseignements. Cibler les meilleures pratiques et les utiliser pour améliorer des enseigne-ments à la communication destiné aux étudiants en santé. Méthode : Revue systématique de la littérature des enseignements à la communication pour les étu-diants en santé ainsi que des compétences acquises lors de ces enseignements. Inclusion de 24 articles actuellement publiés sur 1219 sélectionnés dans 5 bases de recherche différentes (MEDLINE, Pubmed sans MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE, ERIC). Résultats et discussion : Les enseignements efficaces mêlent les techniques d’enseignement théoriques, pratiques (entretiens simulés) associés à une supervision individuelle utilisant la vidéo, ou réalisée par un médecin sénior entrainé. Les grilles d’évaluations sont trop nombreuses et évaluent les mêmes compé-tences, témoin d’un manque d’homogénéité des enseignements. Les compétences communicationnelles les plus difficiles à acquérir sont la capacité du soignant à écouter le patient et l’empathie. Conclusion : L’enseignement de la communication aux étudiants en médecine est nécessaire. Il doit être de qualité, proposant plusieurs dispositifs pédagogiques (théoriques et pratiques), bien encadré (supervision) par des professionnels formés. Il doit être reproductible et évaluable facilement par des grilles validées selon les compétences que l’on souhaite évaluer.

Cet article s'efforce de clarifier les concepts de stimulus subliminal, de perception et de persuasion subliminales, puis de concilier les conclusions diamétralement opposées des psychologues et des chercheurs en marketing sur les effets possibles des stimuli qui ne dépassent pas le seuil de conscience. Il présente les développements sous forme didactique pour pouvoir servir, aussi directement que possible, de base aux enseignants qui souhaitent actualiser leurs cours sur ce sujet.

This study encompasses a replication of the study “Popular Misconceptions About Suicide: How Popular Are They?”, conducted by George Domino in 1990, as well as further analyses of the data obtained in our study. Ninety-seven undergraduate students were administered the Suicide Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ). The twenty SOQ items concerning misconceptions were analyzed for the percentage of endorsement by the students. Like Domino, we found that these misconceptions may not exist as texts indicate. A 2 × 2 ANOVA using each respondent's total number of endorsed misconceptions, with gender (male/female) and ethnicity (white/non-white) as quasi-independent variables, showed no significant main effects. Next, chi-square analyses conducted on the individual items (frequency of subject endorsement on each) revealed differences among ethnic groups but not among gender groups. Finally, a one-way ANOVA comparing people's knowledge of suicide between those who have known versus those who have not known a suicide victim showed no significant differences.

In this paper, a new technique of power reduction in pseudo domino logic-based buffer is proposed with dual threshold voltage. The proposed method employs the dual threshold voltage technique to reduce the power. During the precharge stage, we have used the high threshold voltage transistor in the non-critical path of the circuit, to reduce the leakage current due to which the average power dissipation is minimized. In critical path, low threshold voltage transistors are used. The low threshold voltage transistors are used in evaluation stage, for the performance enhancement of the circuit. Keeper circuit is used with two PMOS transistor which helps in maintaining voltage of dynamic node and improves the noise immunity and speed of the circuit. Also, a NMOS transistor, which is operated by the dynamic node is used which minimizes the leakage by creating a stacking impact. In addition, the clock inverter is enabled via low voltage NMOS which significantly reduces the current in the inverter due to direct connection between the supply voltage (Vdd) to ground.

One of the most difficult elements for students in chemistry is writing and balancing equations of chemical reactions. The aim of this research was to investigate the ability of the 8-9th grade students to write chemical formulas and equations of reactions. Verhovskij’s method, which involves using white and full-colour paper cards, was proposed as a chemistry teaching method for students. Some of the students suggested using non-paper-based cards, i.e. “domino sticks”. The obtained results proved that students who had participated in the building blocks activity showed significantly higher post-test scores than students who had not participated. The average grade of the students who used the cards for chemical formula formation and reaction equations increased respectively by 1.30 and 1.20. The average grade for writing and balancing of the reactions equations was lower because balancing requires strong knowledge in mathematics. The results have shown that the use of cards is a good method at an early stage of chemistry education. Ceci est dû avant tout aux affections réfractaires à toute thérapie et à leur augmentation, en relation avec les facteurs sociaux-économiques actuels. Dans ce domaine, de nouveaux concepts ont été développés dans lesquels sont impliqués non seulement l'aspect somatique du traitement mais surtout le point de vue bio-psychosocial. Ce dernier nécessite des moyens importants mais contribue à un meilleur succès thérapeutique. Le concept thérapeutique découle toujours de la possibilité d'un diagnostic somatique et des investigations diagnostiques basées sur une hypothèse de travail bien fondée. Les douleurs de dos chez les jeunes sont par rapport au patient adulte de nature très différente. Des recherches récentes dans ce domaine remettent cependant également en question, comme chez le malade adulte, ce facteur exclusif des causes somatiques dans les lombalgies des jeunes. Les mesures thérapeutiques impliquent nécessairement l'adjonction de l'ergonomie tant au niveau de l'analyse du poste de travail qu'à l'organisation et à l'adaption sensée des efforts dans les loisirs.

Latitudinal differences in timing of breeding are well documented but how such differences carry over to influence timing of events in the annual cycle of migratory birds is not well understood. We examined geographical variation in timing of events throughout the year using light-level geolocator tracking data from 133 migratory tree swallows ( Tachycineta bicolor ) originating from 12 North American breeding populations. A swallow's breeding latitude influenced timing of breeding, which then carried over to affect breeding ground departure. This resulted in subsequent effects on the arrival and departure schedules at autumn stopover locations and timing of arrival at non-breeding locations. This ‘domino effect’ between timing events was no longer apparent by the time individuals departed for spring migration. Our range-wide analysis demonstrates the lasting impact breeding latitude can have on migration schedules but also highlights how such timing relationships can reset when individuals reside at non-breeding sites for extended periods of time.

Efficient synthesis of non-annulated 2-amino-4H-pyrans and 2-amino-8-oxo-4,8-dihydropyrano[3,2-b]pyran derivatives, which are biologically relevant heterocycles is achieved, utilizing a domino three-component reaction of ethyl acetoacetate or kojic acid with aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile catalyzed by Zn(L-proline)2 as reusable organometallic catalyst. The process exhibits high atom economy, short reaction time, simple work up, high yields and environmentally friendly nature. Excellent yields of the targeted molecules have been obtained.

This paper introduces and expands the Multi-level Governance (MLG) model and, by means of case comparison, explores the non-technological innovation system for green development. Research found that effective non-technological innovation system can set off competition among the same level of local governments, and generate the domino effect of preference to green development, thus driving them to adjust the development strategies and policies, increase green investment and improve the efficiency of green development. Toutefois, ces débats eux-mêmes soulèvent une question fondamentale : celle des rapports entre les sciences et le droit. S'agit-il de domaines complètement distincts, sans relation aucune l'un avec l'autre ? La science se trouve-t-elle, en raison de son objet, en dehors du domaine du droit, ce qui rendrait impossible pour celui-ci de légiférer relativement à la science ? Le droit est-il à l'abri de l'influence des sciences ? C'est à ces questions essentielles que l'auteure tente de répondre ici. La détermination du domaine du droit, et la confrontation de ce domaine avec les divers aspects des sciences, permet de déterminer relativement à l'égard desquels le droit peut légiférer. Les faits révèlent toutefois que les sciences tendent à influencer le droit, généralement à son insu, en manipulant des concepts relatifs aux valeurs fondamentales du droit contemporain. La modification de la place respective de la philosophie et des sciences dans le monde des valeurs explique la forte influence acquise par les sciences et la difficulté qu'éprouve le droit à résister à l'influence occulte de celles-ci.

Teachers’ wellbeing potentially carries domino effects on their performances in class. Teachers develop their creativity to perform teaching and learning activities in class when they achieve wellbeing. It affects the students whether they enjoy their learning process with the teachers. This qualitative study aims to explore how the non-formal English teachers experience teaching, working dynamics and complexities from teachers’ points of view; and how these subject matters affect their wellbeing. In-depth interviews were conducted to obtain the data from the research participants. The data were analyzed by employing Holmes’s (2005) categories of teachers’ wellbeing. The findings and discussion of this research demonstrates that the teachers achieved intellectual, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing through different trajectories. The result of this study contributes to English courses as companies to maintain the teachers’ wellbeing for the sake of teachers’ performances. Future researchers are suggested to conduct similar study with quantitative approach in order to get bigger and general picture of non-formal EFL teacher wellbeing.

An efficient seven-step semisynthetic approach towards non-racemic bifunctional furano-allocolchicinoids, starting from naturally occurring colchicine is presented. The Pd-catalyzed domino Sonogashira coupling/5-endo-dig cyclization was employed as the key step. The prepared compounds exhibited substantial cytotoxicity against T3M4, MiaPaCa-2, Colo-357, and PANC-1 cell lines. The presence of two functionalities with different reactivity (hydroxyl and amino groups) in the target molecules allows for an easy conjugation of furano-allocolchicinoids with drug delivery carriers, and opens promising opportunities for their further exploitation in the search of therapeutics.

PurposeThis study explores the interplay among climate change, economic growth and energy consumption in G20 countries by considering the role of green energy.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses various empirical tools to determine the association between carbon emissions, economic growth, renewables, non-renewables, population and urbanization for a panel of G20 countries between 1990 and 2014.FindingsEmpirical outcomes from various empirical tools reveal a positive and significant impact of economic growth, non-renewable energy consumption and urbanization on carbon emissions, and their increase will further lead to the deterioration of environmental quality. The elasticity coefficient of renewable energy coefficient is negative and significant implying an increase in its consumption will improve environmental quality. Panel causality test results reveal the existence of both short-run and long-run causality among the variables. Therefore, results infer that a reduction in the consumption of non-renewable and substitution with renewables will have a significant impact on carbon emission mitigation.Originality/valueThrough this study, the authors suggest the sustainable use of renewables as they are sustainable, secure, efficient, environmentally justifiable and economically viable sources of energy. Therefore, replacing traditional non-renewables with modern renewables has the potential in avoiding the dangerous impacts of greenhouse gases (GHGs) particularly in the G20 countries. This paper intends to guide policymakers regarding the environmental quality and renewable energy consumption required to hold back the fossil fuel dependence for a cleaner and greener planet.

Résumé :

A highly versatile and convenient synthetic route for biologically active ?-amino acid, glutamic acid catalyzed facile and mild preparation of polyfunctionalized dihydro-2-oxypyrroles via one-pot, four condensation domino reaction between aromatic/aliphatic amines, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates and formaldehyde have been studied. The route includes green, biodegradable and inexpensive ?-amino acid catalyst, high atom-economy, simplicity of operation and work-up procedures, without chromatographic purification steps. The solid catalyst, non-toxic or hazardous, easily handled with mild reaction conditions and excellent yields are the notable benefits of the highly efficient and expedient synthesis of these products.
