Résumé :

With the rapid development of the air transport industry, more attention is paid to interior ergonomics analysis which directly affects the time and cost spent during design. To provide a quick and human-in-loop accessibility way to evaluate accessibility in aircraft cabin, a new method based on virtual reality is proposed. In this method, the digital mock-up model is converted to other format which is need to build a virtual environment first, then virtual environment is built and a virtual hand is driven through tracking hand’s position by A.R.T(Advanced Realtime Tracking ) system to carry on accessibility evaluation in the virtual environment. Based on above-mentioned method the aircraft cabin accessibility evaluation system is designed and realized, which is verified by one case of a certain aircraft cabin. The result shows this method is simple and useful, offering a new way for accessibility evaluation in aircraft cabin.

Background and Objectives: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and Aquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a global pandemic. Study aimed to record the retinal manifestations in patients with HIV according to their CD4+ count and HAART status, To study FUNDAL CHANGES in HIV/AIDS patients. To study the relationship between FUNDAL CHANGES in HIV infection and the degree of immunodeficiency as measured by CD4+Tcell count. Methods: A prospective study was conducted in Department of Ophthalmology, Nalanda medical College and Hospital, Patna. Patients known to be positive for HIV infection with or without AIDS being referred from the A.R.T. Centre of nmch on treatment/without treatment, and have determined their CD4+T lymphocyte cell count, belonging to any age and of either gender at Department of Ophthalmology, were enrolled in this study. Conclusion: There is higher incidence of retinal findings in non-HAART group and in patients with CD4+.

Résumé :

Citrus aurantifolia is a very common, and widely cultivated and consumed for its antioxidant properties due to its robust flavonoids content. Doxorubicin (DOX) is an antibiotic broadly used in the treatment of different types of solid tumours, but its use also comes at a cost, organ toxicity. The curative and preventive properties of Citrus aurantifolia peel extract (CAPE) in doxorubicininduced hepatotoxicity in Wistar rats were evaluated. Thirty female rats were divided into six groups of five (5) rats each in both curative and preventive studies. In curative study, five groups of rats (II – VI) received Doxorubicin (mixed with normal saline, 15 mg/kg body weight i.p) on day one, 24 hours after, graded doses of CAPE and alpha-lipoic acid (A.L.A.) were administered to groups II- V and VI respectively for 7 consecutive days. For the prophylactic study, groups II – V and VI received graded doses of CAPE and A.L.A. respectively, 24 hours after Doxorubicin was administered to groups II-VI. Groups treated with D.W. and A.L.A. were used as a negative and positive control, respectively Liver enzymes such as A.S.T., A.L.T. and A.L.P., including liver samples, were examined for histopathological changes. A significant reduction (p< 0.05) in serum A.S.T. and A.L.T. levels was observed in animals treated with CAPE 200 and 400mg/kg in the preventive study, while in curative, a significant reduction in an expected rise in serum A.S.T., A.L.T. and A.L.P. (p<0.05) was observed in animals treated with CAPE 400mg/kg when compared to the group treated with DOX + distilled water. Hepatocellular necrosis was observed in the histology of DOX- distilled water treated group. Besides, the hepatocytes of groups treated with CAPE (200 and 400mg/kg) in this study showed narrow foci of mild vacuolar change as compared with groups treated with the lowest dose of CAPE (100mg.kg) and distilled water, which revealed random foci of mild vacuolar change. This study has provided information that DOX damaged liver tissue due to an increase in liver enzymes and histopathological results showing tissue damaged in groups treated with lower doses of CAPE and distilled water. This study further demonstrates that groups treated with CAPE 200, 400 mg/kg and A.L.A. protect hepatic damage induced by DOX.

Background: HIV infection/AIDS is a global pandemic greatly exceeds earlier prediction. With widespread availability and uses of Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART), HIV becomes a chronic manageable illness but immediate and long term side effects become a major problem. The objective of the study was to study clinical profile of HIV positive patients attending A.R.T. centre of a tertiary care hospital.Methods: Observational and prospective study was carried out over 100 HIV positive Patients attending ART centre of G.G.G Hospital, Jamnagar, Saurastra, Gujarat over a period of 12 months.Results: Out of 100 HIV positive studied patients, maximum cases (95%) were in the age group of 15-49 years, 75% were males. (58%) cases were from rural area and (56%) were illiterate. Maximum cases were having sexual (79%) route of transmission. Most common symptom among HIV positive patients was weight loss (62%) followed by fever (58%). Mycobacterium tuberculosis (65%) was the most common opportunistic infection. (84%) patients had CD4 count between 50-200/cub.mm, (66%) were in stage III. ART was well tolerated, ADRs were found in 43% of patients.Conclusions: HIV is more common in reproductive age group with males being more affected and major route of transmission of HIV infection remains heterosexual mode.

Résumé :

Background and Methods. In Southeast Asia and particularly in Thailand, β0-thalassemia/hemoglobin E (HbE) disease is a common hereditary hematological disease. In a retrospective analysis, we investigated the outcomes of blastocyst preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for α- and β-thalassemia exclusion, with human leukocyte antigen (PGD-HLA) matching, from 2007 to 2016 at Superior A.R.T. (Bangkok, Thailand) and subsequent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) treatment of affected siblings. The main outcome measures included the proportion of biopsied cycles with at least one screened embryo suitable for transfer, implantation rate, live birth rate, and curative HSCT post-PGD-HLA. Results. In 221 cycles from 138 patients (104 cycles requiring HLA matching), 90.5% had embryo(s) biopsied for genetic testing. There were 119 embryo transfers for thalassemia (76) and thalassemia-HLA cases (43), respectively, resulting in overall clinical pregnancy rates of 54.6%, implantation rates of 45.7%, and live birth rates of 44.1%. Our dataset included fifteen PGD-HLA live births with successful HSCT in twelve affected siblings, 67% using umbilical cord blood stem cells (UCBSC) as the only SC source. Conclusions. We report favorable thalassemia PGD and PGD-HLA laboratory and clinical outcomes from a single center. The ultimate success in PGD-HLA is of course the cure of a thalassemia-affected sibling by HSCT. Our PGD-HLA HSCT series is the first and largest performed entirely in Asia with twelve successful and two pending cures and predominant UCBSC use.

CCS often wish to have biological children yet harbour concerns about fertility impairment, pregnancy risks and the general health risks of prospective offspring. To clarify these concerns, health outcomes in survivor offspring born following ART (n = 74, 4.5%) or after spontaneous conception (n = 1585) were assessed in our European offspring study by descriptive and bivariate analysis. Outcomes were compared to a sibling offspring cohort (n = 387) in a 4:1 matched-pair analysis (n = 1681). (i) Survivors were more likely to employ ART than their siblings (4.5% vs. 3.7%, p = 0.501). Successful pregnancies were achieved after a median of one cycle with, most commonly, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) using non-cryopreserved oocytes/sperm. (ii) Multiple-sibling births (p < 0.001, 29.7% vs. 2.5%), low birth weight (p < 0.001; OR = 3.035, 95%-CI = 1.615–5.706), and preterm birth (p < 0.001; OR = 2.499, 95%-CI = 1.401–4.459) occurred significantly more often in survivor offspring following ART utilisation than in spontaneously conceived children. ART did not increase the prevalence of childhood cancer, congenital malformations or heart defects. (iii) These outcomes had similar prevalences in the sibling population. In our explorative study, we could not detect an influence on health outcomes when known confounders, such as multiple births, were taken into account.

AbstractThe primary purpose of this study was to compare the overall listening benefit in diffuse noise provided by dual-microphone technology in an in-the-ear (ITE) hearing instrument to that provided by dual-microphone technology in a behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing instrument. Further, the study was designed to determine whether the use of the dual-microphone + the manufacturer's party response algorithm in the ITE and BTE hearing instruments provided listening benefit in diffuse noise over their respective omnidirectional microphone modes. Twenty-four adults with mild to moderately severe sensorineural hearing loss were evaluated while wearing binaural BTE and ITE hearing instruments. The results indicated that the dual-microphone + party response mode did provide significant benefit in diffuse noise for both the ITE (3.27 dB signal-to-noise ratio [SNR] improvement) and BTE (5.77 dB SNR improvement) hearing instruments relative to their respective conventional omnidirectional microphones. No significant difference in performance was found between the ITE and BTE hearing instruments when each device was in the dual-microphone + party response mode. It is concluded that the use of dual-microphone technology in both ITE and BTE hearing instruments can improve speech recognition in diffuse noise.      Objective: To determine the impact of personal hygiene on woman who complain pelvic inflammatory disease Methodology: A quasi experimental study in the High Institute Infertility Diagnostic and A.R.T.(assistance reproductive technology) in AL-Kadimya city and al-Emamian al Kadmain medical city hospital. The sample collected during (26th ) January – (30th ) April 2014. A purposive sample of (60) women, (30) of them regard as study group and (30) regard as a control group whom they take routine care in the institute and hospital. The questionnaire consisted of socio-demographic data, reproductive health for women, information related to pelvic inflammatory disease, and information related to personal hygiene. pilot study has been carried out to test the reliability of the questionnaire and content validity has been carried out through the (15)experts. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses are used to analyze the data . Results : The results presented that woman who used special chemical disinfectant solutions and irrigations for clean the perineal area (66.7%) for both samples, who are using herbal soap (53%) (36.7%) for the study and control sample respectively, washing the area daily as range from (1-2) times were (46.7%) (43.3%) for the study and control sample, washing the area from front to back (80%) (63.3%) for the study and control sample, who leave the area dry (50%) (56.7%) for the study and control sample, who used healthy tissues for drying the area (50%) (60%0 for the study and control sample, with her change underwear daily (100%) (90%) for the study and control sample, with her expose underwear to the sun shine (76.7%) (70.7%) for the study and control sample, with wear cotton cloths (60%) (50%) for the study and control sample, with change the sanitary pads in the menstrual period during the day as the range from (1-2) times (60%) (70%) for the study and control sample . Recommendations: Setting up procedures of instructional and educational programs to the women who suffering of pelvic inflammatory disease, by using healthy methods of personal hygiene (perennial's care area), and during intercourse, such as using condom or external ejaculation by the husband, or abstinence sexual intercourse during treatment course in case taking the treatment both of partners

Résumé :

Abstract Exposure to petroleum compounds and vapours has been shown to have harmful effects on many different organs and systems of the body, especially the liver. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of kerosene & naphtha vapours on some liver and kidney parameters in rats. Twenty male Wistar albino rats were used in the study; the rats were separated into four groups, each with five rats: three for testing and one for control. Using an altered nose-inhalation exposure approach, rats were exposed to kerosene vapours for six hours daily for 15, 30 and 45 days. The study measured the parameters of blood in rats after they were sacrificed. The study revealed a significant rise (P≥0.01) in the levels of serum aspartate aminotransferase (A.S.T.), alkaline phosphatase (A.L.P.), and alanine aminotransferase catalase (A.L.T.) in rats exposed to kerosene and naphtha fumes for 15, 30, and 45 days, as compared to the control group. The findings also indicated a statistically significant (P≥0.01) increase in the serum bilirubin levels of rats exposed to kerosene and naphtha fumes for 15, 30, and 45 days compared to the control group. The findings demonstrated a statistically significant increase (p≥0.05) in serum creatinine and serum urea levels in rats exposed to kerosene and naphtha fumes for 25, 30, and 45 days compared to the control group. Additionally, the study demonstrated a significant increase (p≥0.05) in serum creatinine levels in rats exposed to kerosene fumes for 45 days compared to rats exposed for 15 and 30 days. It may be concluded that the liver parameters were negatively impacted by inhaling fumes containing Kerosene and naphtha.

Résumé :

The recent Pew Forum study, “‘Nones’ on the Rise,” indicates a growing percentage of religiously unaffiliated adults in the United States and suggests that these individuals do not seek new religions or denominations but nontraditional means of exploring spiritual questions, facilitating religious practice and finding community. This article examines Edgar Cayce’s Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) as a case study for the non-traditional religious affiliation and experience of Nones in the twenty-first century. Through staff and participant interviews and attention to the current work of the A.R.E. at its Virginia Beach headquarters and its summer camp in Rural Retreat, Virginia, this article shows how A.R.E. innovation and tradition have allowed this organization to reach Nones and embrace the digital age even as it advocates approaches to religion and spirituality that have deep historical roots in American religious history.

Résumé :

We interweave arts-based inquiry, painting, and autoethnography, to critically examine one researcher's fearful narratives around cancer, death, dying, and family myths. These methods give us the distance to deconstruct Christine's past schema in order to take away its powerful influence on her life. This destabilized illness narrative leads to a transformational narrative of peace. Arts-based inquiry invites the viewer/reader to engage in similar acts of deconstruction and transformation.

In this paper, the author employs concrete research poetry as a visual representation of a metaphor analysis. Using autoethnographic methods, she explores the experiences of eight single mothers of children and young adults with mental illness. She conducts a metaphor analysis of semi-structured interview data and generates concrete poetic structures from metaphors that emerged from the data. In the process, she transforms data into art.

ABSTRACTMadeleine Rebérioux was right to wonder whether France was truly a ‘Radical republic’ in the years between the Dreyfus affair and the Great War. Archives only opened or explored since Rebérioux published in 1975, and the re-interpretation of older newspaper sources, show that control of the Third Republic was still hotly contested in those years. The Radicals tried to build a republic in their own image, but in a situation where left and right were closely balanced, they were almost always foiled. Crucial to this process was a politically republican but socially conservative centre – best typified by the A.R.D. The A.R.D. wanted a Third Republic frankly favourable to the interests of big business. Since it held the parliamentary balance of power between the left and a right only partly republican, it generally got its way. Statistical sources also support this interpretation.

Résumé :

Companies that allow their employees to use mobile devices for work purpose, they suffer from cybersecurity challenges such as virus or malware, download illegal content, poor authorization and authentication, etc. These challenges need solutions or controls to solve or mitigate them.  In this paper, there are two objectives. The first aim is to know which of the security controls were asked in the questionnaire used in the A.R.C. The second objective is to know which security scenarios the IT department uses to protect the information from potential mobile device security concerns. A descriptive methodology was employed in this study. Data were collected from forty people in the IT department at Aden Refinery Company through a questionnaire. The results show that some security controls, such as antivirus/ antimalware, backups, firewalls, and policies, are used in the A.R.C.

In Ayurvedic texts, the concept of Dhatu Sarta is related to the qualitative state of Dhatu of an individual. Sara, under tenfold examination, is another very important tool for the assessment of the biological strength of the in-dividual. Sara may be considered as an optimum degree of genetic code of an individual's D.N.A. with respect to particular Dhatu. In our body, every individual's D.N.A. has different genetic codes. So, it may be said that the quality of Dhatu an individual will depend upon a specific genetic code. If the genetic code of the individu-al’s D.N.A. with respect to Dhatu is optimum, the formation of thare particular Dhatu in the body will be of very good quality. Sarva Sara Purusa has the optimum degree of the genetic code with respect to all Dhatus. Rakta Sara Purusha Lakshanas indicates the sign of richness and the best essence of the blood tissue of a person. Acharya Charaka has advocated the examination of Sara in Dashavidha Pariksha to assess the bala (physical and psychological strength) of Rogi and to know the state of Dhatu and its functioning capacity. Sometimes in clinical practice, the physician may misinterpret the appearance of the body. The person with Sthula Sharir can be considered a strong person, and the person with Krisha Sharir can be considered a weak person. But factual-ly, it is observed that some persons who possess krisha sharir are strong enough to resist the adverse situation and vice versa. Hence, Sara's examination is very important prior to physical training, choice of job, intake of diet, and many more of the drugs in daily life to the individuals in clinical practice. Liver function tests, also known as liver chemistries, help to assess the liver's health by testing protein liver enzyme and bilirubin levels in the blood. Tests that are widely used to test liver irregularities include A.L.T., A.S.T., A.L.P., Albumin, Biliru-bin, etc. Sara's examination is very important prior to physical training, choice of job, intake of diet, and many more drugs in daily life to the individuals in clinical practice.

Résumé :

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of digital storytelling activities using digital tools (Metaverse, Blender, PPT) in a university-required general education course, A.C.T. (Action, Communication, Teamwork), on learners' happiness and learning motivation. The study involved 90 learners who took the A.C.T. course in the first semester of 2022 at a C university in the Seoul metropolitan area. Happiness and learning motivation were analyzed using pre-post tests and paired-samples t-tests. The analysis results revealed that both happiness and learning motivation significantly improved in the post-test compared to the pre-test. Therefore, it can be concluded that digital storytelling activities using digital tools have an impact on learners' happiness and learning motivation. Based on these findings, this study aims to provide implications and foundational data for the educational utilization and effective application of digital tools in teaching.
