Résumé :
Wild-type fungal population 851-WT was selected for shortened latent period on cv. CI 13227 for five uredinial generations to study the adaptation of Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici to partially resistant wheat cultivars. Differences among wild-type and selected populations for traits contributing to parasitic fitness (i.e., latent period, infection frequency, and uredinium area and growth rate) were assessed in monocyclic infection experiments on susceptible cv. Monon and partially resistant cvs. Suwon 85, Sw 72469-6, L-574-1, and CI 13227. Differences were greatest among fungal populations on cv. CI 13227. The mean latent period of selected population 851-C5 was 2 days shorter (~20%) than that of wild-type population 851-WT. In addition, uredinia of population 851-C5 expanded 40% faster and produced ~75% more urediniospores. On cv. L-574-1, the selected population was also more fit than the wild-type progenitor for initial uredinium area and growth rate and cumulative urediniospore production. In contrast to wild-type and selected populations on cvs. CI 13227 and L-574-1, selected population 851-C5 on cv. Monon produced slower expanding uredinia with fewer urediniospores than did population 851-WT on Monon. These results show that variation in the latent period of P. recondita f. sp. tritici populations is partially under genetic control and wild-type P. recondita f. sp. tritici populations contain members reproductively more fit on partially resistant wheat cultivars but not necessarily on susceptible cultivars. Such members are capable of partially overcoming quantitative host resistance.

Résumé :
Abstract TLR agonists have been used in treating diseases including infections, cancer and as vaccine adjuvants. Aldara™ (imiquimod 5% cream) is the first TLR7 agonist approved in the US, and is indicated for the treatment of genital warts caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Aldara was not well-tolerated when delivered vaginally; therefore a 2nd generation analog, 851, that retained the ability to stimulate cytokine production upon vaginal application was selected for development to treat high-risk cervical HPV infection. In human PBMC and purified plasmacytoid DC cultures, 851 stimulated a >10 fold increase in type I IFN, and indirectly activated human NK cells to express CD69 (8-fold) at concentrations of ≥10μM. In the rat, intravaginal application of 851 gel (0.01% and 0.1% w/v) led to local tissue production of TNF-α and MCP-1 without evidence of systemic cytokine induction. Increases in vaginal levels of TNF-α (9-fold) and MCP-1 (81-fold) were seen with the top strength of 851 tested (0.1%). Vaginal application of 851 results in the influx of NK cells, T cells and macrophages and an efflux of DC from the vaginal tissue. The ability of 851 to induce local cytokine production leading to influx and efflux of various immune cell populations could result in elimination of virally-infected cells from the cervix and vaginal tract including cells infected with high-risk HPV that are known to lead to cervical cancer.

Résumé :
A field experiment was conducted during winter season (1 998-99 and 1999-2000) to assess the effect of 4 ir- rigation schedules based on irrigation water : cumulative pan evaporation (IW : CPE) ratios on performance 2 oat varieties ('JHO 822' and 'JHO 851') revealed that the varieties did not differ for fodder yield and N concentration. However, based on crude protein yield (qlha) 'JHO 851' (6.08) was found significantly superior to 'JHO 822' (5.29), whereas in respect of water-use efficiency (kg dmlha-mm) 'JHO 822' (28.6) was superior to 'JHO 851' (20.3). Among the 4 irrigation schedules, fodder yield and water-use efficiency increased significantly with increasing IW: CPE ratio from 0.0 to 0.9 ratio.

Résumé :
Neutron imaging provides high sensitivity to liquid water while being able to penetrate materials typically used to construct fuel cells. Water distribution measurements in operating fuel cells are typically performed using neutron radiography as the neutron fluence rate of the beam requires long acquisition times for high resolution making tomography difficult. Radiography only provides a two-dimensional look at the water distribution with an operating fuel cell making tomography preferable to understand three-dimensional distribution of water. NIST developed a fuel cell hardware design to allow for simultaneous neutron and X-ray tomography and as first reported in 2017 [1], initial efforts for tomography required acquisition times of 18 hours while the cell continuously operated at steady state conditions. Progress was made to improve acquisition settings and reconstruction methods to reduce the time required. These improvements were presented in 2019 [2] and demonstrated that scan times could be reduced to 8 hours and provided ground work for reducing acquisition times down to 1 hour to 2 hours. Since 2019, further progress has been made in applying dose reduction iterative reconstruction algorithms to the fuel cell datasets to allow faster acquisition times. Faster acquisition scans were simulated by reducing the number of projection angles from the high-resolution datasets from the 2019 work. The high-resolution scan was acquired with 851 projections from 0° to 360° and the fast scan consisted of only 51 projections. Reducing the number of projections from 851 to 51 simulates a scan that requires only 29 minutes to acquire, which is close to the typical length of time for acquiring high resolution radiography images. Figure 1 shows the comparison of a single slice from the 3D volumes with (A) representing the 8 hour, 851 projection scan, (C) the iteratively reconstructed 51 projection scan, and (E) the 51 projection scan reconstructed with filtered back projection algorithm used for the 851 projection scan. The iterative reconstruction gives favorable results when compared to the 851 projection reconstruction and shows that flux limitations on speed can be overcome to achieve high-speed tomography at high resolution on a neutron beam. This talk will describe the methodology for acquiring neutron tomography scans of operating fuel cells in under 30 minutes and give insights into how this can be used towards solving water management issues. It will be possible to combine radiography and tomography into a hybrid scan at each operating condition that can be acquired in 1 hour that will provide highly quantifiable water content measurements with 3-dimensional distribution information. The short scan times are beneficial for materials sets that are sensitive to long constant current hold durations such as new non-platinum catalysts. Additionally, new cameras are being commissioned that will improve resolution and push X-ray resolution to the point of resolving the fiber and macropore distribution of the gas diffusion layer (GDL) that can be coupled with the water content information.

Background: Neonatal intrahepatic cholestasis caused by citrin deficiency (NICCD) is a rare autosomal recessive disease. The incidence of citrin deficiency is estimated between 1/10,000 and 1/20,000 in Taiwan. Case report: This report describes a case of a 42 day old female infant who suffered from prolonged jaundice, poor weight gain, and anemia. The initial total/direct bilirubin levels were 8.1/3.11 mg/dL. Liver biopsy was performed at 47 days old. The pathology revealed lobules marked with macrovesicular and microvesicular fatty metamorphosis. The serum amino acid profile showed elevated levels of threonine, methionine, citrulline, and arginine. Newborn screening disclosed normal results, but the genetic study revealed SLC25A13 mutation 851–854 del and 615 + 5G > A. The genetic study of her parents showed that the father carried the SLC25A13 mutation 851–854 del and the mother carried the SLC25A13 mutation 615 + 5G > A. Treatment with ursodeoxycholic acid decreased the bilirubin levels to a normal range at the age of 5 months. Conclusion: This report illustrates that hepatic steatosis is a feature of NICCD. For every young infant patient who develops cholestasis, the pediatrician must consider NICCD as a differential diagnosis even if newborn screening shows normal findings.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT B lymphocytes converted into lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) by an Epstein-Barr virus that expresses a conditional EBNA3C require complementation with EBNA3C for growth under nonpermissive conditions. Complementation with relatively large EBNA3C deletion mutants identified amino acids (aa) 1 to 506 (which includes the RBP-Jκ/CSL [RBP-Jκ] binding domain) and 733 to 909 to be essential for LCL growth, aa 728 to 732 and 910 to 992 to be important for full wild-type (wt) growth, and only aa 507 to 727 to be unimportant (S. Maruo, Y. Wu, T. Ito, T. Kanda, E. D. Kieff, and K. Takada, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 106:4419-4424, 2009). When mutants with smaller deletions were used, only aa 51 to 400 and 851 to 900 were essential for LCL growth; aa 447 to 544, 701 to 750, 801 to 850, and 901 to 992 were important for full wt growth; and aa 4 to 50, 401 to 450, 550 to 707, and 751 to 800 were unimportant. These data reduce the EBNA3C essential residues from 68% to 40% of the open reading frame. Point mutations confirmed RBP-Jκ binding to be essential for wt growth and indicated that SUMO and CtBP binding interactions were important only for full wt growth. EBNA3C aa 51 to 150, 249 to 311, and 851 to 900 were necessary for maintaining LCL growth, but not RBP-Jκ interaction, and likely mediate interactions with other key cell proteins. Moreover, all mutants null for LCL growth had fewer S+G2/M-phase cells at 14 days, consistent with EBNA3C interaction with RBP-Jκ as well as aa 51 to 150, 249 to 311, and 851 to 900 being required to suppress p16INK4A (S. Maruo, Y. Wu, S. Ishikawa, T. Kanda, D. Iwakiri, and K. Takada, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 103:19500-19505, 2006). We have confirmed that EBNA3C upregulates TCL1 and discovered that EBNA3C upregulates TCL1 through RBP-Jκ, indicating a central role for EBNA3C interaction with RBP-Jκ in mediating cell gene transcription.

Résumé :
In tropical and sub-tropical regions, the cultivation of barley is generally very limited and far less viable for brewing. This study was intended to investigate the potential of released maize varieties for malt purpose. Seventeen released maize varieties were collected from Bako, Ambo and Melkassa Agricultural Research Centers. The varieties were investigated for the most critical chemical compositions, germination test and malt quality. AMH-851 variety had the highest crude protein and ash contents. The highest moisture absorption (49.2%) and germination energy (82%) was noticed in MK-1 maize variety. Insignificant variation and less malting loss (0.7g) was noticed for MK-141 and BH-661 varieties. A significant increment in protein content was observed in maize malt compared to the un-malted grain. AMH-851had the highest (13.8%) and MK-2 showed the lowest (11.2%) malt protein content and the highest kolbach index. In its coarse and fine extract contents, BH-661 (69.93%) and BH-540 (69.29%) varieties had the highest and did not show a significant variation. A range of 6.8 to 29.07 wk enzymatic activity was observed among the selected maize malt with the highest for AMH-851 followed by BH-547 and the lowest for Limu variety. It was noticed that maize grains grown in intermediate agro-ecology could be used as potential malt for brewing purpose.

Résumé :
Copper tin sulfides (CTSs) have widely been investigated as electrode materials for supercapacitors owing to their high theoretical pseudocapacitances. However, the poor intrinsic conductivity and volume change during redox reactions hindered their electrochemical performances and broad applications. In this study, carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were employed to modify CTSs. The structures and morphologies of obtained materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). XRD revealed CTSs were composed of Cu2SnS3 and Cu4SnS4, and TEM suggested the decoration of CQDs on the surface of CTSs. With the decoration of CQDs, CTSs@CQDs showed a remarkable specific capacitance of 856 F·g−1 at 2 mV·s−1 and a high rate capability of 474 F·g−1 at 50 mV·s−1, which were superior to those of CTSs (851 F·g−1 at 2 mV·s−1 and 192 F·g−1 at 50 mV·s−1, respectively). This was mainly ascribed to incorporation of carbon quantum dots, which improved the electrical conductivity and alleviated volume change of CTSs during charge/discharge processes.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT Humans differ substantially with respect to susceptibility to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). We evaluated variants of nine host genes participating in the viral life cycle for their role in modulating HIV-1 infection. Alleles were assessed ex vivo for their impact on viral replication in purified CD4 T cells from healthy blood donors (n = 128). Thereafter, candidate alleles were assessed in vivo in a cohort of HIV-1-infected individuals (n = 851) not receiving potent antiretroviral therapy. As a benchmark test, we tested 12 previously reported host genetic variants influencing HIV-1 infection as well as single nucleotide polymorphisms in the nine candidate genes. This led to the proposition of three alleles of PML, TSG101, and PPIA as potentially associated with differences in progression of HIV-1 disease. In a model considering the combined effects of new and previously reported gene variants, we estimated that their effect might be responsible for lengthening or shortening by up to 2.8 years the period from 500 CD4 T cells/μl to <200 CD4 T cells/μl.

Thin films of poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) were prepared on pre-cleaned glass substrates by Dip Coating Method. FTIR spectrum was used to identify the functional groups present in the prepared films. The vibrational peaks observed at 1260 cm-1 and 851 cm-1 are assigned to C–C stretching and CH rocking of PVA.The characteristic band appearing at 1432 cm-1 is assigned to C–H bend of CH2 of PVA. The thickness of the prepared thin films were measured by using an electronic thickness measuring instrument (Tesatronic-TTD20) and cross checked by gravimetric method. XRD spectra indicated the amorphous nature of the films.Surface morphology of the coated films was studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The surface revealed no pits and pin holes on the surface. The observed surface morphology indicated that these films could be used as dielectric layer in organic thin film transistors and as drug delivery system for wound healing.

Résumé :
Abstract Hybridization with transition metal oxide is broadly realized as an attractive way to smash the capacity limitation of carbon-base materials upon lithium storage. However, the influence of metal ions on the fast reaction kinetics of the electrode is still a confusing topic. Herein, a common molten salt method is displayed to fabricate hierarchically porous MnO/carbon composites. The addition of LiCl and KCl induces the fluid reaction substance by forming molten salt at a high-temperatures to beneficially achieve the activation and breaking of the carbon particles. The abundant porous and homogeneou carbon skeletons validly raise the ion/electron diffusion and transferability to prevent MnO particles from agglomerating, thereby inducing the diffusion kinetic. Moreover, the hierarchical porous MnO/carbon composite offers a highly invertible capacity of 851 mAh g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 and outstanding cyclic performance. This work has opened up a path for metal oxidation/carbon composite materials in electrochemical energy storage.

Objective To explore the aetiology of congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA) in two Chinese siblings with typical CIPA symptoms including insensitivity to pain, inability to sweat, and self-mutilating behaviours. Methods Clinical examination and genetic testing were conducted of all available family members, and the findings were used to create a pedigree. Mutation screening using PCR amplification and DNA Sanger sequencing of the entire neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor type 1 gene ( NTRK1) including intron–exon boundaries was used to identify mutations associated with CIPA. Results A novel nonsense mutation (c.7C > T, p. Arg3Ter) and a known splice-site mutation (c.851-33 T > A) were detected in NTRK1 and shown to be associated with CIPA. Conclusion Our findings expand the known mutation spectrum of NTRK1 and provide insights into the aetiology of CIPA.

Dicarboxymethyl cellulose (DCMC) was synthesized and tested for protein adsorption. The prepared polymer was characterized by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (ssNMR) to confirm the functionalization of cellulose. This work shows that protein adsorption onto DCMC is charge dependent. The polymer adsorbs positively charged proteins, cytochrome C and lysozyme, with adsorption capacities of 851 and 571 mg g−1, respectively. In both experiments, the adsorption process follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The adsorption kinetics by DCMC is well described by the pseudo second-order model, and adsorption equilibrium was reached within 90 min. Moreover, DCMC was successfully reused for five consecutive adsorption–desorption cycles, without compromising the removal efficiency (98–99%).

Résumé :
Abstract Plover Sandstone have been widely known as a good quality of oil and gas reservoir in NW Australia. As the continuity of NW Australia margin, outer Banda Arc become the distribution area of the equivalent of Plover Sandstone units. Therefore, a clear distinction and characterization of equivalent of Plover Sandstones distributed in this area is needed. Thick unit of quartz rich sandstone is scrap out in south Savu Island. Refers to the location where the lithology is found widely distributed, the unit is suggested to be called as Pedaro Formation. The characteristic of the lithology is determined through detailed measured section from two trajectories and laboratory analysis, including fourteen samples of petrography analysis, eight samples of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis, and three samples of X-Ray Difraction (XRD) analysis. The lower part of the unit is initiated by braided fluvial conglomerates which gradually become tidal sand flat association of shale layers, coal seams and sandstone insertion. While the upper part of the unit is consisting of thick bedded quartz sandstone with thin siltstone insertion, deposited in the shoreface environment. Those facies association developed at transgressive conditions in the estuarine environment. The characteristic of the sandstone unit of Pedaro Formation is thickly bedded quartz wacke to quartz arenite, white to light grey in color, moderately to very well sorted, mostly mature sand. Pedaro Formation is identified to be deposited at Early Jurassic in interior craton tectonic setting. The characterization of sandstone unit of Pedaro Formation is showing that the unit can be correlate to the equivalent of Plover Sandstone found in Timor. Sandstone unit of Pedaro Formation can play a role as reservoir candidate in petroleum system of Savu and surrounding area.

Résumé :
Abstract The effect of urbanization and industrialization in the urban city is soil contamination by heavy metals. This study was conducted to assess Pb, Cu, Zn, and Cd, in the soil of Yogyakarta city and its surrounding, Indonesia. The assessment was done by analyzing 45 surface soil samples in the study area, divided into three-zone. They are divided based on the distance of each zone to the center of the city. The zone III is located in the outermost of the study area, and zone I is inside the city. The results of the study showed that generally, the highest concentration of metals was located in zone I, which is located near or directly situated in a city center. The result indicated that Pb and Cd had the highest pollution index compared to Cu and Zn. The pollition load indeks (PLI) and geoaccumulation indeks (Igeo) calculations in the whole study area showed that the values demonstrated a moderate class in average. Special attention was needed to be given to the zone I, which has a higher PLI and Igeo index to reduce the source of emission for Pb and Cd.

Résumé :
Abstract Sufficient water supply can still be a big challenge in developing countries. A large number of households in Yogyakarta still relay on private dug wells to meet their daily demand. But water from shallow aquifers is prone to pollution from sewage systems, industry and agriculture. To assess the water quality in the basin of Yogyakarta, this study determines the chemical characteristics of the shallow groundwater in anthropogenically influenced and uninfluenced areas in and around the city of Yogyakarta. Therefore, a combination of on-site and laboratory analysis is used to distinguish areas of different water types. The observations give a major ion distribution for the whole research area and show significant anomalies in nitrate and phosphate concentrations especially in the city. Furthermore, high DOC values point out that the aquifer is widely polluted. There is a need for a better groundwater protection and remediation strategy to facilitate future use of those groundwaters.

Abstract We present the first finding of skarn rocks in Cemorosewu area of East Jiwo Hill, Bayat, Central Java, Indonesia. The geological conditions of this area which related to the appearance of the skarn is also reported. The methods used in this research are DEM acquisition using drone to generate basemap for geological mapping and thin section petrographic analyses. The geological map shows that Cemorosewu area consists of metamorphic rocks (mica phyllite, graphite phyllite, with quartzite and marble lenses), sedimentary rocks (carbonate breccia and siltstone), and igneous rock (microdiorite). Based on the field observation and geological map, the regional metamorphic rocks are the oldest units in this area followed by sedimentary rocks and igneous rock which intruded both rocks. Skarn rocks were cropped out as a boulder along the Kluwihan creek with the maximum size of 8 m in length. The skarn consists of garnet, clinopyroxene, zoisite, actinolite, and minor quartz. Metasiltstone and skarn rock are suggested formed by contact metamorphism of microdiorite intrusion. The marble, which lenses within the phyllites, is suggested to be the protolith of the skarn formation in this area.

Résumé :
Abstract A geophysical survey using broadband magnetotelluric (MT) technology was carried out in Suwawa Geothermal Prospect Area, Gorontalo Province, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. The target of that research is to evaluate the geothermal potential hidden below the surface, based on underground resistivity distribution. However, the information about resistivity alone is not enough to get a proper understanding of the geothermal system in this area. Another important subsurface feature that could be useful for the evaluation is temperature. In this study, an attempt to predict the subsurface temperature using resistivity and limited information from a shallow borehole thermogram was carried out. Employing the dependency between resistivity and temperature an indirect temperature estimator was built, thanks to the applicability of artificial neural network (ANN) to learn the pattern connecting both parameters. Comparing some neural network training data shows that the predictive powers of the calibrated neural network highly influenced by the geological difference between the location of borehole and MT station. The best trained ANN was then used to predict the temperature below the other MT stations. The result shows that a proper ANN architecture is important to improve the deeper temperature estimation. The best ANN estimator was obtained from the BT01 and AMT39 data pair, which has the highest correlation as well. This preliminary study gives useful insight into how resistivity could be an alternative tool to delineate the near-surface temperature profile, in order to get a more comprehensive image of the subsurface geothermal system.

Résumé :
Abstract Throughout the island of Java, several shallow faults located in the vicinity of densely populated areas accommodate the tectonic strain generated by the subduction of the Indo-Australian Plate beneath the Sunda Plate. These faults are characterized by a poor surface geomorphological expression due to the tropical climate that masks paleoseismological evidence making the identification of active faults in this environment challenging. We present preliminary data of a tectonic-geomorphic study that aims to identify and characterize active faults in the province of Yogyakarta (Central Java) as a basis to improve seismic hazard assessment. Here we focus on the Opak fault by describing its geomorphology and structure, using field data and remote sensing-based observations to contribute to the understanding of its geometry, kinematics, and tectonic activity. We show preliminary data supporting the Opak Fault as an active SW-NE transtensional left-lateral strike-slip reactivated normal fault consisting of several parallel fault strands. Although geomorphological expression of active tectonics is poor and diffuse, we found numerous field evidence of active tectonics ranging from tilted Quaternary fluvial terrace risers, triangular facets, and linear valleys to peculiar drainage patterns that allow us to provide evidence of the Holocene activity of the Opak Fault.

Résumé :
Abstract Debris avalanche deposit is formed by the failure of volcanic edifice and has a high potential to directly impact human civilization. The famous characteristic landform of debris avalanche deposit is hummocky hills. To understand the dynamics of avalanche flow, we investigate the morphometric characters of debris avalanche hummocks from Gunung Gadung in Raung Volcanic Complex. The collapse of Gunung Gadung follows two main flow direction with two different kinds of debris avalanche, i.e., freely spreading and valley filling. Our study recorded that there is no significant correlation between hummock size and distance from the source. The distribution of Gadung hummock size is mainly controlled by pre-existing morphologic feature such as Iyang-Argapura Volcanic Complex and Meru Betiri Mountains. We identify four domains area of Gadung debris avalanche flow based on hummock size distribution, which are Toreva domain, Hummock domain, Collision domain, and Oblique collision domain. Hummock orientation and displacement angle of Gadung debris avalanche deposit depend on structural regime existed in certain area. Compressional regime may occur because of collision between Gadung avalanche flow and Iyang-Argapura Volcanic Complex, or shifting of main flow direction. Meanwhile, extensional regime may happen due to decreasing in slope and spreading of avalanche flow.

Résumé :
Abstract Indonesia is a country located at the meeting of three tectonic plates. This condition makes Indonesia a disaster-prone region, especially caused by the movement of tectonic plates, one of which is the tsunami. Several tsunami occurs were recorded in Indonesia. Tsunami occur on a large scale and causes losses, both environmental damage and fatalities. Therefore, evacuation planning is needed to minimize the number of fatalities when a tsunami occurs. This study aims to find out the potential threat of tsunami hazard in Ciletuh Bay and analyze evacuation planning in the region. The method used in this research is the spatial modeling method which is divided into tsunami inundation modeling, population distribution, and estimated evacuation travel time. The result of this study is that potential tsunami hazard in Ciwaru Village id found in two hamlets with an area of 104.63 Ha. A total of 590 exposed residents can evacuate within 0 – 15 minutes. The selection of evacuation routes with the fastest travel time is needed so that residents can reach the evacuation collection point before the tsunami arrives. The availability of road access in the hamlet makes it easier for residents in tsunami-exposed areas to reach evacuation gathering points.

Résumé :
Abstract Oyo river deposit is one of the potential resources for small scale sand mining in Yogyakarta. The deposit extends along the upstream to downstream area of the river. A detailed study on textural and mineralogical characterization is aimed for better understanding of Oyo River sedimentation and provenance. Ten sediment samples were analyzed by using granulometry method, these include grain size, morphological and mineralogical analysis. The result shows that the average of grain size changes from coarse sand (0.88 mm) in the upstream to medium sand (0.37 mm) in the downstream. Sorting value is dominated by moderately sorted (0.7lφ - 0.94φ), skewness is dominated by very fine skewed (0.3φ - l.l0φ), and kurtosis is dominated by extremely leptokurtic (2.8φ - 6.5φ). Meanwhile for the grain shape is dominated by oblate and bladed, sphericity changes from elongate to subequant, roundness is dominated by subangular and subequant. Mineralogical composition consists of magnetite, hematite, pyroxene, amphibole, quartz, feldspar, and lithic fragment. Plotting result on triangular QFL (Quartz Feldspar Lithic-fragment) diagram shows that the provenance of Oyo River sand deposit is coming from dissected arc tectonic setting.

Résumé :
Abstract The Batu Ayau Formation in the Kutai Basin has coking coal deposits that have the potential to be processed into coke. Analysis using organic petrography method is an important parameter to identify the composition of the coke product to determine the coke quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition of the coke products made from coking coal of Batu Ayau Formation in Kutai Basin, Central Kalimantan. Petrographic analysis on 12 samples obtained in Kal-Teng seam showed that the percentage of coke products varied. Carbon in the binder phase is 85.60 - 92 vol.%, then the form of carbon in the filler phase is 7.45- 13.64 vol.% and a small part of other than carbon material (miscellaneous categories) of 0-0.73% vol. The dominance of inert organic as a filler of the coke wall was identified. The studied coke which is originally made from coking coal with moderate volatile values shows that the coke is ideal in term of its petrographic composition.

Résumé :
Abstract Botorubuh Beach is located at Southern Beach of Gunungkidul, in the Southern Mountain of Yogyakarta - Indonesia and is a promontory composed of Middle - Late Miocene igneous rock with a columnar jointing structure. This isolated igneous rock area is surrounded by limestone. Therefore, the regional geological map of Surakarta-Giritontro classifies this area as the Punung-Wonosari Formation which is dominated by limestone. Because of the geological phenomenon of the isolated igneous rock area, it is necessary to study the petrogenesis of the igneous rocks at the area. The petrogenesis research is based on a preliminary study of the petrographical and geochemical characteristics of this igneous rock samples. The petrographic identification of andesite samples shows porphyritic, trachytic, oscillatory zoning, and sieve textures. The results of geochemical analysis (major and trace elements) show that the rock samples are are classified to andesite rocks and calc-alkaline suites. These rocks are enriched in LILEs (Rb, Ba, K) and depleted in HFSEs (Nb, Ti, Ce). Additionally, REE shows a slight enrichment of light-REE and a slight negative anomaly of Eu. The patterns of the trace elements including REE show a typical pattern of calc alkaline arc. Petrographical and geochemical characteristics suggest evidence of magma differentiation process, that is by a mechanism of crystallization fractionation. The andesite was formed in relation to a Middle – Late Miocene paleomagmatism and the Late Miocene-Pliocene subduction zone.

Résumé :
Abstract The offshore North Sumatra Basin is one of the hydrocarbon-prone basins in Indonesia. The Malacca Formation acts as the reservoir in this basin. However, there are some drilling problems caused by abnormal pore pressures. Overpressure analysis is carried out so that drilling activities are avoided from drilling problems such as kicks, blowouts, stuck pipes, loss circulation, and collapse. This study aims to analyze the overpressure in the “APR” block, offshore North Sumatra Basin, which includes determine the depth of the top overpressure and the mechanism of overpressure formation. In the research area, analysis of 3 exploration wells was carried out. Overpressure is analyzed based on well log data, and pressure test data using the Eaton method (1975) supported by other data such as LOT (Leak-Off Test) data, drilling reports, mudlogs. At Well A, top overpressure depth is ± 3235 ft TVDSS (true vertical depth sub sea). At Well P, top overpressure depth is ± 3065 ft TVDSS, and at Well R, top overpressure depth is ± 2901 ft TVDML (true vertical depth mud line). The overpressure generating mechanism in the study area is caused by the loading mechanism (disequilibrium compaction) and caused by the nonloading mechanism (hydrocarbon buoyancy).

Résumé :
Abstract Hydroisotope studies were carried out on Mudal and Clapar springs located in the central part of the West Progo Dome. The research was conducted by taking samples of groundwater in each spring for three periods, representing the rainy (2016), dry (2017), and rainy (2018) seasons. Data on stable isotope content of 18O and D were analyzed to see the hydroisotope characteristics of groundwater and their relationship to climate change. The results show that the stable isotope content of groundwater in both springs was relatively stable, with insignificant changes over time and season. Mudal springs tend to show light isotopes, indicating deep aquifer or high elevation recharge, less affected by the season. Clapar spring shows heavy isotopes, which may be sourced from a shallow aquifer with mixing/evaporation processes and are more influenced by the season. Meanwhile, the range value of δD in the two springs shows slightly - totally changes, indicating that the D content also changes due to seasons, although it is small. The δD enrichment shows the medium-large change in both spring springs, but uncertainty in Mudal. However, the D-excess value shows that the dry and rainy season conditions, which may be related to temperature or precipitation, are not much different.

Résumé :
Abstract Geosite is a Geological Heritage object in the Geopark area with specific characteristics and is an integral part of the evolutionary history of forming an area. Serpentinite Pucangan is one of the Geosite located in Karangsambung – Karangbolong geopark. This study aims to find out the characteristics of petrography and geochemistry of Serpentinite Pucangan Geosite. The methods used in this study include literature studies, fieldwork research, petrography analysis, ore microscopy analysis, whole rock analysis consist of major element analysis using fusion inductively coupled plasma (Fus ICP) methods, trace element analysis, and rare earth element analysis using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) methods. Serpentine minerals with antigorite type dominate the petrography composition of Pucangan serpentinite with a little magnetite mineral. SiO2, MgO, and Fe2O3(t) are the major elements with the largest percentage of 37.93%, 5.78%, and 9.73% that have an agreement with the mineralogical composition of the rock that dominated by ferromagnesian minerals. This Geosite is interpreted to be formed due to the metasomatic process when the subduction process is happening in this area in the Pre-tertiary period.
