Résumé :
This study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between children's nutritional status and physical fitness. This research is quantitative research with a correlational design whose goal is to link two or more variables. The instrument used to measure the nutritional status of children is the maximum physical fitness index (BMI) and the Indonesian physical fitness test (TKJI). The results of the data were analyzed using the SPSS application. The results of the descriptive analysis of the nutrition variable had the lowest score of 13.3 and the highest score of 19.2, with an average value of 18.8. In contrast, the TKJI variable had the lowest score of 13 and the highest score of 19, with an average value of 1.9. From the research data and analysis, the significant value is 0.002 <0.05. Thus, it means a relationship between nutritional status and physical fitness with the meaning of H¹ received.

Résumé :
Background: The main goal of pulp treatment is to preserve the health and integrity of the oral tissues. Early primary tooth loss can result in malocclusion and temporary or permanent issues with appearance, phonetics, and function. While it is desirable to try to maintain pulp vitality wherever possible, the pulp can be completely removed without seriously impairing the tooth's ability to function. Aim: To compare the prevalence of pulpectomy and pulpotomy procedures done in 6 to 9 years old children Materials and method: The study was a retrospective cross-sectional analysis, evaluating dental outpatient records and analyzing data from 86,000 patients between June 2020 and April 2021 to collect case records of 6 to 9-year-old children undergoing pulpectomy and pulpotomy procedures. We selected children between the ages of 6 and 9 who underwent pulpectomy and pulpotomy procedures. Using the SPSS software, the data was compiled followed by statistical analysis. Results: Of the total number of children screened, about 96% of the patients between 6-9 years of age underwent pulpectomy whereas the remaining 4% underwent pulpotomy. Of these patients, 56% of them were males and about 44% of them were females. About 75% of these pulpectomy procedures were performed in posterior teeth whereas only 25% of them were done in anterior teeth Conclusion: From this study it can be concluded that in a university setting, pulpectomy was most predominantly performed in children of 6-9 years of age and the most commonly involved teeth were the posteriors.

Résumé :
BackgroundLittle is known about the predictive validity of disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD). This longitudinal, community-based study examined associations of DMDD at the age of 6 years with psychiatric disorders, functional impairment, peer functioning and service use at the age of 9 years.MethodA total of 473 children were assessed at the ages of 6 and 9 years. Child psychopathology and functional impairment were assessed at the age of 6 years with the Preschool Age Psychiatric Assessment with parents and at the age of 9 years with the Kiddie-Schedule of Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia (K-SADS) with parents and children. At the age of 9 years, mothers, fathers and youth completed the Child Depression Inventory (CDI) and the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders, and teachers and K-SADS interviewers completed measures of peer functioning. Significant demographic covariates were included in all models.ResultsDMDD at the age of 6 years predicted a current diagnosis of DMDD at the age of 9 years. DMDD at the age of 6 years also predicted current and lifetime depressive disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) at the age of 9 years, after controlling for all age 6 years psychiatric disorders. In addition, DMDD predicted depressive, ADHD and disruptive behavior disorder symptoms on the K-SADS, and maternal and paternal reports of depressive symptoms on the CDI, after controlling for the corresponding symptom scale at the age of 6 years. Last, DMDD at the age of 6 years predicted greater functional impairment, peer problems and educational support service use at the age of 9 years, after controlling for all psychiatric disorders at the age of 6 years.ConclusionsChildren with DMDD are at high risk for impaired functioning across childhood, and this risk is not accounted for by co-morbid conditions.

Résumé :
The overall aim of the research described in this thesis was to evaluate the effect of vitamin A supplementation on respiratory health, assessed by lung function in children aged 6--9 years. It comprises three studies.
The first study determined the magnitude of vitamin A deficiency in the target population in Wukro wereda, Northern Ethiopia. Of the 1339 eligible children identified by house to house surveys, 824 had complete data for vitamin A indicators and anthropometry. Xerophthalmia was detected in 5.8% of the children, 8.4% had serum retinol levels <0.35 mumol/L and 51.1% between 0.35--0.70 mumol/L. Liver vitamin A reserve was also found to be low in 41.0% of the children using the Modified Relative Dose Response (MRDR) and in about 85% of the children, the daily vitamin A intake was below the FAO/WHO basal requirement (<250 RE/day).
The second study found that in comparison with children with adequate vitamin A reserve (MRDR < 0.06), those with low reserve (MRDR ≥ 0.06) had forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) 48.8 ml (p = 0.006) lower when unadjusted, 23.1 ml (p = 0.04) when partially adjusted for age, gender and height and 14.1 ml (p = 0.20) when fully adjusted for demographic, general health, lung function and household related characteristics.
The third study describes the results of a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the impact of vitamin A supplementation on respiratory health as assessed by change in FEV1 at 4 months. The average change was 53.3 ml (n = 496) and 53.8 ml (n = 501) in the vitamin A and placebo groups respectively. After adjusting for baseline covariates, the difference between them was -3.6 ml (95%CI: -21.6, 14.4). In sub-analysis of the data, gender and vitamin A status subcategories were found to be effect modifiers.
In conclusion, high dose vitamin A supplementation did not show an effect on change in FEV1 at 4 months in children aged 6--9 years with high prevalence of vitamin A deficiency. Sub-analysis findings suggest that the benefits to vitamin A intervention in the study setting can probably be achieved if the other nutritional deficiencies such as zinc are addressed. Moreover, the results also suggest that the effects of vitamin A supplementation on respiratory health status are complex and these need to be taken into account in future studies to assess the clinical and public health implications of vitamin A supplementation in this age group.

Résumé :
A lower resting energy expenditure (REE) has been suggested to partially explain the disproportionate prevalence of overweight/obesity among black African women, yet no studies have investigated the REE of South African (SA) children. Similarly, physical activity (PA) as a modifiable factor related to childhood energy expenditure is under-researched in the local context. The study determined the relationship between sex and population group (determinant factors), on the one hand, and REE and PA (outcomes) of 6–9-year-old SA children attending two primary schools in the City of Tshwane metropolitan area, on the other, taking phenotypic characteristics as confounders (mediating factors) and the study context into account. In a cross-sectional study with quota sampling, the REE of 6–9-year-old children attending two urban schools in SA was measured with indirect calorimetry (IC), and PA with a pedometer. Multifrequency bioelectrical impedance analysis was used to assess body composition (BC) (fat-free mass [FFM], FFM index, fat mass [FM] and FM index). Multivariate regression was used to calculate REE and PA adjusted for phenotypic confounders (z-scores of weight-for-age, height-for-age and body mass index-for-age, and BC). Sex and population differences in REE and PA (measured and adjusted) were determined with two-way ANOVA. Ninety-four healthy children (59.6% girls; 52.1% black African) with similar socio-economic status and access to PA participated in the study. Despite variations in BC, sex differences in REE were not significant (41 kcal/day ≈ 172 kJ/day; P = 0.375). The REE in black African participants was significantly lower than in their white counterparts (146 kcal/day ≈ 613 kJ/day; P = 0.002). When adjusting for BC, population differences in REE declined, especially after adjustment for FFM (91 kcal/day ≈ 382 kJ/day; P = 0.039), but remained clinically significant. Average steps/day in girls (10212 [9519;10906]) was lower than in boys (11433 [10588;12277]) (P = 0.029), and lower in black African (9280 [8538;10022]) than in white (12258 [11483;13033]) (P < 0.001) participants. No significant relationship (r = 0.05; P = 0.651) was observed between REE and PA. Within the context of a similar SES and PA environment, the REE and PA of black African children was lower than white. Differences in REE between sexes were not significant, but girls had a lower PA than boys.

The Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure Test (ROCFT) is one of the most widely used neuropsychological tests for visuospatial constructional and visual memory. This study aimed to establish the norm of the ROCFT in 6-to-9-years old children in Taiwan, and to identify its psychometric properties. Based on the standardized procedure and scoring system of the Rey Complex Figure Test and Recognition Trial, the sample included 229 students in Grade 1 to 4, aged 6-9 years, from 10 elementary schools in Taiwan. All the children were assessed with ROCFT and the Block Design, Vocabulary, Similarities, and Digit Span subtests of the WISC-IV. Among 30 students were selected to complete the assessments 2 months later for examining the test–retest reliability with ROCFT. Another 30 protocols were randomly selected to examine in Copy, Immediate Recall, and Delayed Recall trials to test the interrater reliability There were positive correlations among age with Copy, Immediate Recall, and Delayed Recall trials, and was negative correlation with completion time. There was no significant correlation in performance with gender. The test result had shown good validity and reliability. Within each age group, linear T scores were computed for each raw score, perecentile equivalents were assigned to the obtained T scores. The ROCFT clinical usage could explore the best cut-point for diagnosis and established utility in clinical works. Since the present study only provides normative data form age 6 to 9 years old, a further study for older age is important to built a comprehensive norm.

Résumé :
AbstractEsophageal cancer is the sixth most frequent cause of cancer death worldwide and affects more than 450,000 people all over the world [1]. Most patients with esophageal cancer in Asian countries such as Japan and China have squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), while most of those in Western countries have adenocarcinoma [2, 3]. In particular, the incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma in the USA and the UK is rapidly increasing, in which the age-adjusted incidence has risen by 39·6% for men and 37·5% for women every 5 years in the UK [3]. Despite improvements in surgical techniques and perioperative management [4, 5] and surgery combined with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy [6, 7], the prognosis of esophageal cancer at advanced stage remains poor with 30–40% in a 5-year survival globally [8] and the 5-year survival rate for the patients receiving esophagectomy in Japan was 55.5% [9].

Résumé :
AbstractChildren diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often exhibit agitated behaviors that can isolate them from their peers. This study aims to examine if wearable data, collected during everyday activities, could effectively detect such behaviors. First, we used the Empatica E4 device to collect real data including Blood Volume Pulse (BVP), Electrodermal Activity (EDA), and Acceleration (ACC), from a 9-years-old male child with autism over 6 months. Second, we analyzed and extracted numerous features from each signal, and employed different classifiers including Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (FR), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and TabNet. Our preliminary findings showed good performance in comparison with the state of the art. Notably, XGBoost demonstrated the highest performance in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The accuracy achieved in this paper using XGBoost is equal to $$80\%$$ 80 % which exceeds previous research.

Résumé :
AbstractThis chapter presents a study which discussed the narrations in Bahasa Indonesia by children in Pati, Central Java, who still use Javanese at home. Our focus is on lexical cohesive devices, based on Halliday and Hasan’s (Cohesion in English. Longman, 1976) theory. The participants in this study are school-age children (N = 51) aged 6–9 years old, classified into three groups based on their grades at school. This study uses semi-structured elicitation technique with silent film The Pear Story (developed by Chafe in The pear film, 1975) as the main instrument. Instruction is in Indonesian. The analysis is supported by our observation at school and parental questionnaires on language use. Descriptive statistics analysis is conducted to observe the tendency of the use of the lexical cohesive device. It is found that children use Indonesian- and Javanese cohesive devices in their story and use code-mixing, as well. The result shows that the use of repetition cohesive device in Indonesian is being very dominant, compared to other cohesive devices. The most dominant ones in all grades are the repetitions of nouns and verbs.

Résumé :
AbstractBariatric surgery (BS) has proved its role in treating obesity and related comorbidities. The number of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomies (LSGs) performed globally has increased markedly and has become “trendy” among bariatric surgeons in the last few years [1]. LSG has attained its position as the primary procedure of choice in bariatric surgery for morbid obesity. In this procedure, 80% of the stomach, mainly the body and fundus are removed longitudinally, leaving behind a sleeve of the stomach along the lesser curve [2, 3]. The procedure can be performed by minimally invasive approaches as well as single incision access or even robotic surgery with comparable results [4, 5]. The weight loss is achieved by restricting the food entering the stomach. Another factor in the effectiveness of weight loss in sleeve gastrectomy is the decrease in blood levels of ghrelin, “the hormone that stimulates hunger,” and a majority of cells responsible for producing this hormone is found in the fundus which is removed during this procedure. This procedure can be performed as the first stage in more complex bariatric cases including cases of super-obesity before procedures like Roux-en-Y gastric bypass or the duodenal switch can be performed [6]. The objective is to achieve an initial weight loss that would help to perform more extensive mixed restrictive or malabsorptive procedures safely and effectively [7–9].

Résumé :
William had a 45-year break after learning Japanese at university for a couple of years. In Chapter 9, he recalls his first studies of Japanese and what he remembered when he restarted. The question of how much language stays with us when we take a break and how much is lost, is the topic of Sensei’s Tips. The conclusion is rather encouraging in the light of the considerable effort and resources that learners invest in their learning.

Résumé :
Dyslexia has been studied and researched for many decades now, but the underlying causes still remain unknown. There are a host of competing theories many of which focus on various forms of neurobiological impairment. Since therapies would have to start out from the identification of an underlying cause, this means that most treatments are based on speculative theorizing. The more authoritative studies argue the point that dyslexia is a stable condition. This means that the most promising path towards supporting dyslexic learners would be to set up a learning environment in which their personality and especially their self-esteem can develop in a climate of mutual trust and respect. The article summarizes the content of a specific psychological program for developing self-esteem and compares its recommendations with what happens in the autonomy classroom. The logbook entries of a severe dyslexic learner testify to the fact that she feels accepted and respected by teacher and classmates alike, which augurs well for her linguistic development. Text samples covering a span of five years give evidence of a successful learning undertaking.

Résumé :
Understanding the challenges of achieving environmental sustainability goals given future demand for food, fiber and fuel requires economic models and databases that incorporate spatially explicit information on land use and land cover (LULC). The GTAP LULC database and its variants have been extensively used in a wide variety of applications aimed at examining the land-environment-energy nexus. Looking back the development of the first GTAP LULC was no simple task as it required the expertise of several researchers to identify and process relevant geospatial information. And because of this, succeeding updates of the GTAP LULC database (namely v.7 for 2004 and v.8 for 2004, 2007) relied heavily on AEZ-region level data from GTAP LULCv.6 in order to update land cover and land use as well as share-out land rents. This memorandum documents the development of the GTAP LULC v.9 database. In keeping with the multi-year release of GTAP v.9, the GTAP LULC v.9 data is developed for each benchmark year (i.e. 2004, 2007 and 2011). But unlike previous releases, GTAP LULCv.9 is created directly from publicly available high-resolution (i.e. 5-minute grid) spatial land cover and land use maps. Since these maps can be readily downloaded online, it is possible to replicate GTAP LULCv.9 if users know how to handle spatial data and if they follow the methods outlined in this document. Furthermore, by developing the capacity to handle spatial data within the Center, new spatial LULC information can be easily incorporated in future releases of the GTAP LULC.

Résumé :
Diabetes mellitus occupies a leading place in the pathology of the endocrine system in children and adolescents and remains one of the most urgent health problems in most countries. In the last decade, the annual incidence of type 1 diabetes in children has shown a significant increase both in Russia and around the world. According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), it is increasing by 3% per year. In addition, in all European countries there is a "phenomenon of rejuvenation of diabetes" - an increase in the proportion of children who first fell ill with type 1 diabetes at a younger age: 25-30% up to 4 years of age; up to 80% - from 6 months to 9 years. The annual incidence of type 1 diabetes in children (0-14 years old) in the Sverdlovsk region over the past decade (2006-2017) has almost doubled: from 12.2 cases per 100 thousand children in 2006 to 23 ,7 in 2017 and occupies one of the leading places in the Russian Federation in this indicator. More than 200 children with type 1 diabetes are diagnosed per year, of which about 75% of children who become ill for the first time are under the age of 9 years. Type 1 diabetes is characterized by complete insulin dependence, severe course, early formation of specific complications that lead to a decrease in the quality and life expectancy. Unfortunately, in more than 70% of cases, DM is diagnosed at the stage of ketoacidosis, which requires urgent measures. The main reason for the late diagnosis of this disease is the lack of "diabetic alertness" among pediatricians and AFP physicians. The foregoing obliges a wide range of doctors, including pediatricians, to know the clinical and laboratory criteria for diagnosis, modern methods of monitoring and managing diabetes, possible complications and outcomes of the disease, and be able to provide emergency care. Timely diagnosis, self-monitoring, regular monitoring, prevention of complications is an opportunity to improve the quality of life of patients with diabetes.

Résumé :
Understanding the challenges of achieving environmental sustainability goals given future demand for food, fiber and fuel requires economic frameworks that incorporate spatially explicit information on land use and land cover (LULC). The GTAP LULC Data Base and its variants have been extensively used in a wide variety of applications aimed at examining the land-environment-energy nexus (Golub et al., 2012; Hertel et al., 2010; Johnson et al., 2019; Liu et al., 2014; Peña-Lévano et al., 2019; Stevenson et al., 2013; Taheripour et al., 2010; Taheripour & Tyner, 2012). The first release of the GTAP LULC Data Base combines geospatial data on land use and land cover into GTAP 6 Data Base – benchmarked to year 2001 (GTAP LULC v6). The methodology for creating and using this database is well documented (Lee et al., 2009; C. Monfreda et al., 2009; Sohngen et al., 2008). Succeeding updates of the GTAP LULC Data Base (namely v7 and v8 for 2004 and v8 for 2004, 2007) relied on readily available but aggregated GTAP LULC v6, albeit using national-level data from FAOSTAT (2020) (Avetisyan et al., 2010; Baldos & Hertel, 2012). Starting with GTAP 9, LULC was created directly from the latest, high-resolution (i.e. 5-minute) spatial land cover and land use maps in combination with national-level statistics (Baldos, 2017). This memorandum documents the development of the GTAP LULC version10A which is based on the GTAP v10A Data Base for years 2004, 2007, 2011 and 2014 (Aguiar et al., 2019). This update heavily relies on the methodology for creating GTAP LULC v9 which downscales national-level land cover and crop production statistics from FAOSTAT (2020) using publicly available spatial data (see Appendix I).

Paxton, Barton, et Chance Hines. Black rail inventory at Cape Lookout and Cape Hatteras national seashores. National Park Service, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.36967/2304485.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
The black rail (Laterallus jamaicensis) is the most secretive of the secretive marsh birds and one of the least understood species in North America. On the east coast, eastern black rails historically bred in tidal and freshwater marshes along the Atlantic coast from Massachusetts, south to Florida. Within the mid-Atlantic region suitable black rail habitat is concentrated in the high marsh along the upper elevational zone of salt marshes. This zone is dominated by salt meadow hay (Spartina patens), saltgrass (Distichlis spicata), and is often interspersed with shrubs such as marsh elder (Iva frutescens) or saltbush (Baccharis hamilifolia). North Carolina has been a stronghold for eastern black rails within the mid-Atlantic region, with the marsh complexes associated with the lower Pamlico sound supporting one of largest concentrations and highest densities of eastern black rails throughout their range. However, even within these marshes, eastern black rail populations have experienced declines marked by reductions in occupied sites and decline in numbers within historic strongholds. Evidenced by increasing confinement to the highest portions of the high marsh in recent years, sea-level rise and increased rates of high marsh inundation are likely a major contributing factor to declines. With the population of eastern black rails declining over 75% in the last 10-20 years, the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service formally listed the eastern black rail as threatened under the endangered species act on 9 November 2020 (USFWS 2020). To fulfill the need for information to guide management decisions on projects at Cape Lookout and Cape Hatteras National Seashores and to aide in (potential?) future designations of critical habitat, we conducted widespread, systematic surveys for black rails and other secretive marsh birds within the parks during the breeding seasons of 2022 and 2023. A total of 1,222 surveys were conducted at 431 points over the course of 2 years. In addition to recording detections of all focal species, we recorded detections of 6 eastern black rails on North Core Banks where they were not previously known to occur. The population of black rails occupying the high marsh habitat on North Core Banks could account for 5-10% of the North Carolina black rail population and increase the known sites occupied within the state.

Résumé :
Over the years, public transit agencies have been trying to improve their operations by continuously evaluating best practices to better serve patrons. Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) oversees the transit bus operations in the Washington Metropolitan Area (District of Columbia, some parts of Maryland and Virginia). One practice attempted by WMATA to improve bus travel time and transit reliability has been the implementation of designated bus lanes (DBLs). The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) implemented a bus priority program on selected corridors in the District of Columbia leading to the installation of red-painted DBLs on corridors of H Street, NW, and I Street, NW. This study evaluates the impacts on the performance of transit buses along with the general traffic performance at intersections on corridors with DBLs installed in Washington, DC by using a “before” and “after” approach. The team utilized non-intrusive video data to perform vehicular turning movement counts to assess the traffic flow and delays (measures of effectiveness) with a traffic simulation software. Furthermore, the team analyzed the Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) data provided by WMATA for buses operating on the study segments to evaluate bus travel time. The statistical analysis showed that the vehicles traveling on H Street and I Street (NW) experienced significantly lower delays during both AM (7:00–9:30 AM) and PM (4:00–6:30 PM) peak hours after the installation of bus lanes. The approximation error metrics (normalized squared errors) for the testing dataset was 0.97, indicating that the model was predicting bus travel times based on unknown data with great accuracy. WMATA can apply this research to other segments with busy bus schedules and multiple routes to evaluate the need for DBLs. Neural network models can also be used to approximate bus travel times on segments by simulating scenarios with DBLs to obtain accurate bus travel times. Such implementation could not only improve WMATA’s bus service and reliability but also alleviate general traffic delays.

Postpartum Care up to 1 Year After Pregnancy : A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), juin 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.23970/ahrqepccer261.

Texte intégral
Résumé :
Objectives. This systematic review assesses postpartum care for individuals up to 1 year after pregnancy. We addressed two Key Questions (KQs) related to the comparative effectiveness and harms of: (1) alternative strategies for postpartum healthcare delivery and (2) extension of postpartum health insurance coverage. Data sources and review methods. We searched Medline®, Embase®, Cochrane CENTRAL, CINAHL®, and ClinicalTrials.gov from inception to November 16, 2022, to identify comparative studies in the United States and Canada (for KQ 1) and in the United States (for KQ 2). We extracted study data into the Systematic Review Data Repository Plus (SRDR+; https://srdrplus.ahrq.gov). We assessed the risk of bias and evaluated the strength of evidence (SoE) using standard methods. The protocol was registered in PROSPERO (registration number CRD42022309756). Results. We included 50 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 14 nonrandomized comparative studies (NRCSs) for KQ 1 and 28 NRCSs for KQ 2. Risk of bias was moderate to high for most RCTs and all NRCSs. KQ 1: Regarding where healthcare is provided, for general postpartum care (6 studies), whether the visit is at home/by telephone or at the clinic may not impact depression or anxiety symptoms (low SoE). For breastfeeding care (8 studies), whether the initial visit is at home or at the pediatric clinic may not impact depression symptoms up to 6 months postpartum, anxiety symptoms up to 2 months, hospital readmission up to 3 months (summary relative risk [RR] 1.38, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.90 to 2.13; 4 studies), or other unplanned care utilization up to 2 months (low SoE, all outcomes). Regarding how care is provided, for general postpartum care (4 studies), integration of care (i.e., care provided by multiple types of providers) may not impact depression symptoms or substance use up to 1 year (low SoE). Regarding when care is provided, for contraceptive care (9 studies), compared with later contraception, earlier contraception start is probably associated with comparable continued IUD use at 3 and 6 months but greater implant use at 6 months (summary RR 1.36, 95% CI 1.13 to 1.64; 2 RCTs) (moderate SoE). Regarding who provides care, for breastfeeding care (19 studies), compared with no peer support, peer support is probably associated with higher rates of any breastfeeding at 1 month (summary effect size [ES] 1.13, 95% CI 1.03 to 1.24; 4 studies) and 3 to 6 months (summary ES 1.22, 95% CI 1.06 to 1.41; 4 studies) and of exclusive breastfeeding at 1 month (summary ES 1.10, 95% CI 1.02 to 1.19; 6 studies) but probably yields comparable rates of exclusive breastfeeding at 3 months and nonexclusive breastfeeding at 1 and 3 months (all moderate SoE). Compared with no lactation consultant, breastfeeding care by a lactation consultant is probably associated with higher rates of any breastfeeding at 6 months (summary ES 1.43, 95% CI 1.07 to 1.91; 3 studies) but not at 1 month or 3 months (all moderate SoE). Lactation consultant care may not be associated with rates of exclusive breastfeeding at 1 or 3 months (moderate SoE). Regarding coordination/management of care, provision of reminders for testing is probably associated with greater adherence to oral glucose tolerance testing up to 1 year postpartum but not random glucose testing or hemoglobin A1c testing (moderate SoE). Regarding use of information or communication technology (IT; 8 studies), IT use for breastfeeding care is probably associated with comparable rates of any breastfeeding at 3 months and 6 months and of exclusive breastfeeding at 3 months (all moderate SoE). Because of sparse evidence, inconsistent results, and/or the lack of reporting of prioritized outcomes, no conclusions related to interventions targeting healthcare providers are feasible (4 studies). KQ 2: Regarding health insurance (28 studies), more comprehensive health insurance is probably associated with greater attendance at postpartum visits (moderate SoE) and may be associated with fewer preventable readmissions and emergency room visits (low SoE). Conclusion. Most studies included in this systematic review enrolled predominantly healthy postpartum individuals. Researchers should therefore design studies that, either entirely or in part, enroll individuals at high risk of postpartum complications due to chronic conditions, pregnancy-related conditions, or incident or newly diagnosed conditions. New high-quality research is needed, especially for interventions targeting healthcare providers and the impact of more comprehensive or extended health insurance on postpartum health. Patient-reported outcomes, such as quality of life, should also be reported. Researchers should report separate data for various population subgroups, which could help close gaps in health outcomes among the races of postpartum individuals in the United States.

Résumé :
A panel of 32 reviewers analyzed the Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs) of same sample of 29 districts for the second year of implementation of the 2013 California Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Using the same four questions as the Year 1 report, the Year 2 analysis also addresses the key differences between first and second-year LCAPs. Key findings from the Year 2 LCAPs review include: (1) similarly weak responses to the needs of ELs by LEAs in Year 2; (2) some improvement in clarity about services provided to ELs in some areas, though most evidence was weak; (3) minimal attention to the new English Language Development Standards; (4) minimal investment in teacher capacity building to address EL needs; (5) lack of attention to coherent programs, services and supports for ELs and failure to address issues of program and curriculum access; (6) weak engagement of ELs’ parents in LCAP process and content of LCAP plans; (7) poor employment of EL data to inform LCAP goals and weak use of EL indicators as an LCAP accountability component; (8) lack of specificity in describing district services and site allocations for supplemental and concentration funding; and (9) difficulty identifying the coherence of responses of EL needs in year 2 LCAPs. Overall, the analysis of the 29 LCAPs continue to signal a weak response to EL needs. The authors reassert the urgency of the recommendations in the Year 1 report, offer additional specific recommendations for the state, county offices of education, and districts, and call upon the state to reaffirm the equity commitment in the LCFF design.
