Résumé :
The article is dedicated to the study of the intermedial codes in the fantastic works written by the Bulgarian writers of the 20th-21st centuries. Intermediality as a form of interconnectedness of different types of art is challenging for literature research. The aim of the article is to study the interaction of verbal and audio (music), verbal and visual (pictorial art, architectural models), verbal and performing/synthetic (cinema, theatre) arts. The object of the research is the Bulgarian fantastic literature of the 20th-21st centuries, where the subject is codes of intermediality. The method of intermedial studies proves to be fruitful for this type of research work. As a result, it is stated that the variants of ekphrasis (picture-ekphrasis, urboekphrasis, oikoekphrasis, musical ekphrasis), “ekphrastic transition” and the interaction of verbal and audio, verbal and visual, verbal and synthetic arts are implemented in the Bulgarian fantastic literature of the 20th-21st centuries.

Résumé :
We analyze the cultural and historical development of art of theater direction in the 20th–21st centuries. We consider the features of director’s theater on the example of Anatoly Vasiliev’s theater, Mark Zakharov’s theater, Zhenovach’s theater, Pyotr Fomenko’s theater, etc. We note that throughout the entire period there is a transformation of the role of the director in the theater. We note that throughout the entire period there is a transformation of director’s role in the theater. The significance of the theater director – artist grows into more complex forms of his existence: the playwright – the organizer of the performance – the teacher and educator of the theatrical collective. We conduct an analysis of directing schools allow us to draw the following conclusions. Firstly, the Russian theater at the turn of the 20th–21st centuries managed to preserve its traditions even in the conditions of the most powerful computer and television boom. Secondly, the theater continued to occupy one of the leading places in the spiritual, moral and aesthetic edu-cation of society. Thirdly, the direction of domestic theater adopted and multiplied the best tradi-tions of realistic art, coming from K. Stanislavsky, V. Nemirovich-Danchenko, E. Vakhtangov, M. Chekhov, taking into account modern trends and interests of the audience. Fourthly, there was an active search for new forms in directing and acting, experimental theaters and studios were formed. Fifthly, a huge place in directing was given to the production of classics. We note that the period under review provided an opportunity to fully reveal the originality in directing and acting.

Résumé :
The article examines the origins of political Islam in the Middle East and the terminological aspect of the problem. The stages of the formation of the Egyptian Islamic organization Muslim Brotherhood were clarified and its key ideological tenets were established. The political and socio-economic circumstances in which the organization was formed are outlined. Attention is drawn to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the military and economic presence in Egypt of the United Kingdom, which consolidated political Islamic parties. The process of transforming the Muslim Brotherhood from a "group of like-minded people" into a political party is considered. The political and legal ideas of the founder of the organization Hasan al-Banna are covered. which became the main strategy of the Muslim Brotherhood. The situation of the organization in the 30's and 40's was analyzed during the attempt of Nazi Germany to turn the Brothers into their own puppet. The article reveals the role in the organization of its ideologist Said Qutb. His main ideas and views, which formed the basis of the radical Muslim Brotherhood branch, are analyzed. The link between the radicalism of the organization and the ultra-conservative trend of Islam - "Salafism" - was noted. The connection of the Muslim Brotherhood with the Free Officers organization, which came to power in Egypt in 1952, has been disclosed. It was stated that the Brothers supported General Gamal Nasser in the struggle for power, which allowed them to take part in the parliamentary elections. It is stated that the Brothers' criticism of the policies of Gamal Nasser and Anwar Sadat on Israel led to a ban of the organization's activities in Egypt. It has been established that under the presidency of Hosni Mubarak, the "Brothers" tried to enter parliament in other parties. The place and role of the organization during the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, which led the Muslim Brotherhood to power, were examined. The main reasons for the failure of the organization are indicated.

The paper is focused on the comparison of discourses formed in the literary texts which depict motifs of war at the beginning of 20th and 21st centuries. Images associated both with First and Second World War emphasize the shock of the changing world and lend literary credence to the texts. However, this goal is achieved by different means in the early 20th and the early 21st centuries. In expressionist novels and short stories metaphors of infection are used to describe the decline and the fall of the world of the early 20th century. Compared to that, the literary texts created in the early 21st century do not use metaphors because the experience of the Holocaust presented in the texts is viewed as a non-assimilable event and therefore it should not be translated into metaphors. In addition to the suffering of the Holocaust, the image of the infection in the literary texts of the beginning of the 21st century is only an accompanying description of the events of the Second World War.

Résumé :
The paper is devoted to the issues of conceptualization of legal development in the 20th and 21st centuries. The paper investigates social relations that determined the global law evolution in the 20th century, as well as changes in macroregulation in the first quarter of the century under consideration. The subject matter of the analysis covers theoretical understanding of the development vectors in the essence of law at the turn of the last two centuries. As a scientific hypothesis, the author puts forward the statement regarding regulatory specificity and a special strategic role of the 20th century for subsequent legal development. Proving this hypothesis, the author structures the directions of global transformation of social essence and social interrelations of law in the preceding period. The author also shows that these changes have led to the rise of a systemic postclassical legal tradition. The author has described its characteristics and the role in the formation of a new legal identity of the 21st century. The paper also examines the signs of novelty of the law of the present century. The author determines the features of its regulatory individuality generated by technological changes. It is concluded that the novelty of the law of the present century is preconditioned by the combination of Postmodern and the era of introduction of technological regulators. The paper shows the directions of formation of regulatory individuality of the 21st century, its contradictions related to the legal adaptation of a new technological order. It is concluded that the legal regulation moves towards inclusion patterns of nature and new biological and virtual states of the man in its immediate subject matter. The legal complex integrates the methodology of technology and the artificial language of technology, which results in providing a significant insight into the boundaries of social and technical norms. The paper questions the possible rupture of the legal tradition, which the 21st century is bringing, the factors of its aggravation, including the pandemic. The assumption is formulated that a new law arises in the system of innovative interrelations in the technological sphere that leads to the restructuring of institutions of law and legal relations, as well as to the formation of new value properties of law—its syncreticism, integration of the individual and the general, non-subjectivity, non-objectivity, public-private permeability, anthropomorphism.

Résumé :
This article aims to trace a historical panorama of anthroponomic innovation in Brazil by analyzing research data on the uses of anthroponyms in the State of Bahia in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. The comparison between data from other studies, such as those by Rodrigues (2016; 2019), Cunha and Souza (2017), Lopes and Soledade (2018), Simões Neto and Soledade (2018), Conceição (2018) and Soledade and Simões Neto (2020), provides an understanding of the frequency of the innovative phenomenon and its increase over the years. The article also envisions a morphological characterization of the first names found, under the perspective of the Construction Morphology framework (BOOIJ, 2010; GONÇALVES, 2016). The results point to a vertiginous growth of anthroponomic innovation, starting from the mid-20th century, as well as to the setting of a biformative pattern that has been recurring since the first cases of innovative names.

The article analyzes and systematizes results of Russian research in German and Russian Expressionism for the past 17 years. The focus of the author are both great collective research projects on history and theory of Russian and German literature, which includes Expressionism as an integral part of the literary process, and individual studies of literary critics and linguists. The geography of Russian study of Expressionism covers research centers in Universities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhni Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Samara and in Austrian libraries (Yekaterinburg, Nizhni Novgorod). The research has four main directions. The first, the most traditional, focuses its forces on the study of new literary material and personalities, unknown literary texts and historical and literary facts. The second direction works with well-known texts, but operates with the latest scientific tools and provides a different understanding of the known material. The third direction is interdisciplinary and uses synthetic methods. The fourth is the comparative and typological direction, an important part of which is translation theory and practice.

Résumé :
The article offers a brief outline of the history of "classical Chinese textual studies" (Zhongguo gudian wenxianxue), analyzes its content and structure, as well as its place and prospects in modern China. Classical Chinese textual studies emerged as a distinct modern academic discipline based on an ancient domestic tradition and under the influence of Western textual criticism of the 19th century. Since the 1920s, over the last hundred years, it has undergone several ups and downs but steadily continues to maintain continuity with a vast philological knowledge of imperial China, as well as to appropriate new approaches from Western humanities. The most developed areas of wenxianxue are the editing and publication of ancient texts, theoretical research in the foundations of textual studies, the creation and further exploration of subdisciplines, the analysis of research methods, and interdisciplinary perspectives, the study of the history of wenxianxue as well as various specialized problems. Overall, Chinese classical textual studies gravitate toward striving for comprehensiveness, interdisciplinary approaches, and practical issues. Currently, there is still a certain lack of innovation in exploring new areas, insufficient rigor and depth in theoretical research, the uneven development of individual areas of research and their somewhat regional character, nevertheless, textual studies manage to combine extensive practical work on "ordering ancient books" (guji zhengli) with a comprehensive study on the vast and immense Chinese textual culture.

Purpose. The study of artistic imagery of children's costume by Ukrainian fashion designers of the 20th – early 21st centuries, establishment of features and patterns in the repetition of artistic and compositional solutions of children's costume, identification of established trends and innovations in the decoration of children's clothing. Methodology. Visual-analytical method, morphological, artistic-compositional and retrospective analysis were applied. Results. As a result of the analysis of children's clothing models of Ukrainian designers and brands, the artistic and compositional features of children's costumes and current trends in the decoration of children's clothing of the 20th – early 21st centuries are identified. It is determined that during this period, possibilities for the implementation of artistic imagery of clothing for children have expanded due to innovative materials and decoration technologies, but even in our time, traditional types of decoration that have been characteristic of children's costumes for centuries do not lose their relevance. The scientific novelty of the research consists in identifying features of artistic and figurative solutions of children's clothing by designers of Ukrainian fashion houses and leading trends in the decoration of children's costumes in Ukraine of the 20th – early 21st centuries. Practical significance. The collected materials and their analysis allowed to summarize information about artistic solutions and children's costumes by designers of Ukrainian fashion houses, which can serve as a basis for further research on the history of fashion and children's clothing design, information base for creating new collections of children's clothing.

Résumé :
The art of visionaries and outsiders is a space of fantastic narratives, authorial mythologies, and hybrid identities. Their personal religious doctrines and pseudohistorical epics generate monstrous bodies and entities combined with characteristics of the divine, human, and machine. The article examines the representations of monstrosity in visionary and outsider art, art brut, and art of the insane of the 20th and early 21st centuries, investigating the representations of monsters in the artworks of Karl Brendel (Karl Genzel), Bernard Schatz (L-15), and Allen Christian. The general characteristics of monstrosity in visionary and outsider art of the 20th and early 21st centuries are the visionary nature of images, multiculturalism, hybridity, the combination of the scientific, pseudoscientific and religious narratives and popular culture. In the early 20th century, religion had a significant impact, manifested in the hybridization of religious images and pseudo-anthropomorphic distortion in art. In the second half of the 20th century, space narratives had a great influence and were embodied in images of aliens, the cosmos, etc. The turn of the 20th and 21st centuries was the time for rethinking technology, and the symbiosis of human and technology, the origin of species and alternative theories of evolution became popular themes.

Résumé :
Dactyloscopy as a method of human identification has, at the end of the second decade of the 21st century, an established, strong position, demonstrating itself in the whole range of tools available to law enforcement authorities to support investigations. Thanks to the development and popularization of modern biometric technologies, dactyloscopy is increasingly entering the sphere of non-police applications, used by millions of people every day, e.g. logging into electronic banking or unlocking access to smartphones with a finger. In many cultures, the interest in finger and hand skin ridges goes back thousands of years. Initially, it concerned an intentional creative process in the form of rock drawings, but with time, features were noticed in fingerprints that allow to distinguish and identify people. This process began in China more than two thousand years ago, while Europeans did not pay attention to fingerprints until the 17th century. However, it was not until the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries that a real revolution has begun, which changed the ability to verify human identity.

Boiko, Yana V. « TRANSLATORS’ INTERPRETATIONS OF SHAKESPEARE’S PLAYS IN THE LIGHT OF INFORMATION ENTROPY ». Alfred Nobel University Journal of Philology 1, no 25 (30 mai 2023) : 274–90. http://dx.doi.org/10.32342/2523-4463-2023-1-25-20.

Résumé :
The article substantiates the problem of translators’ interpretations of information entropy cases in time-remote original texts on the example of William Shakespeare’s plays in the process of translators’ creative reproduction of the original works in the target language. The purpose of the article is to identify the factors that determine the difference in translators’ interpretations and their manifestations in chronologically distant Ukrainian retranslations of the 19th–21st centuries. The tasks of the research are the following: to describe the theoretical basis of the research by determining the specifics of translator’s interpretation and the phenomenon of information entropy from the standpoint of translation theory and practice; to show the influence of different extralingual factors on the process and result of Ukrainian retranslations. The research material is taken from Shakespeare’s tragedies “Romeo and Juliet” (1594) and “Hamlet, Prince of Denmark” (1600), which serve as samples of Early Modern English at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, and their chronologically distant Ukrainian retranslations of the 19th–21st centuries. The research methodology incorporates not only general scientific methods, as well as empirical methods in order to substantiate the theoretical basis of the research, but also methods of discourse analysis (cultural and historical, comparative-linguistic-cultural), methods of literary analysis (biographical, hermeneutic, interpretive-textual), methods of linguistic analysis (etymological, contextual, descriptive, semantic, and stylistic) and methods of contrastive translation and transformational analysis, which are used to determine the changes in the scope of information expressed by the units of analysis in the timeremote original texts and in chronologically distant Ukrainian retranslations of the 19th – 21st centuries. The article argues that the difference in translators’ interpretations and, consequently, the variety of retranslations are taken into account by different objective and subjective extralingual factors that influence the process and result of retranslations in cases of information entropy. The objective factors are the historically different social and cultural contexts in which the original texts of the 16th–17th centuries and their chronologically distant Ukrainian retranslations of the 19th–21st centuries are created; the literary trends dominating at the corresponding epochs that influence the author’s and translators’ artistic styles. The subjective factors are translators’ creative personalities that reflect their perception of the surrounding world and personal worldviews determined by their different life experience and social background. Objective and subjective factors, which cause different interpretations of information entropy cases in the time-remote original text and presentation of different scope of information in chronologically distant Ukrainian retranslations, are interrelated and interdependent. If all the factors are the same, i.e. the translators belong to one and the same historical period of time, adhere to the same literary trend and have the same cultural and social background, the translators’ interpretations coincide. At least one of the factors being different, the translators’ interpretations of information entropy cases differ which is a prerequisite for the diachronic plurality in translation of time-remote Shakespeare’s tragedies by Ukrainian translators of the 19th–21st centuries.
