<p>This study aims to contribute to understanding about strategic role of sales promotion in increasing the number of sales of Vermox worm medicine products. The data used in this study is secondary data which includes sponsorship event costs, window displays, loyalty programs, gimmicks, and price discounts. Multiple linear regression analysis tool is used to show the effect of sales promotion costs on total sales. Hypothesis testing results show that there is a significant influence of Event Sponsorship and Discounts on the number of sales. Window displays, Loyalty and Gimmick Programs have no significant effect on the number of sales. The regression equation in this study is Y1 = 0.071X1 - 0.001X2 - 9.563X3 - 0.001X4 + 0.038X5.</p>

This research focuses on determining the effects of a window display (flat or arcade or corner) on consumers’ perception and shopping attitudes (intentions for store entry and purchase) in the context of retail clothing sales. To test the assumption that there are relationships between various types of store windows and consumers’ perception of store windows and shopping attitudes, a study was undertaken. According to the results, consumers seem to have a more positive perception of arcade windows which acts as a motivational aspect for purchasing of clothes in retail outlets. Incase of establishing relationship between demographic variables of the respondents with their perception towards window display, it was found that Age and Occupational status of the respondents have significant relationship with the customers perception towards store window display at 5% level of significance.

In this paper, we study a sample of 179 corporate asset sales in Taiwan between 1993 and 2003. We find that corporate asset sales in Taiwan enhance parent firm value with cumulative abnormal returns of 1.7715% for the pre-announcement five-day period and 0.6086% for the two-day announcement window. This finding is consistent with the evidence discovered in both UK and US. We also examine whether asset-sale gains are positively related to managerial performance, private lender monitoring, the use of proceeds, the type of asset sales, the profitability of asset sales, and the relative size of asset sales. Our cross-sectional regression results indicate that all variables, except private debt monitoring and relative size, appear with their predicted signs, but not all of them are statistically significant. During longer event windows, we find that only managerial performance measured by Tobin's q and the use of asset-sale proceeds can explain the gains from corporate asset sales in Taiwan.

This research article proposes an innovative strategy to improve long-term forecasting accuracy for gasoline sales in Canada. The SARIMA-GARCH model was used with the rolling window forecasting technique to successfully address varying seasons, changing patterns, and conditional variance on the historical data of gasoline sales in Canada (1993-01-01 to 2015-12-01) with the sample size of 276. The rolling window forecasting technique was used to forecast one-step-ahead value and update the model to fresh observations while minimizing look-back bias and attaining good long-term forecasting accuracy. The findings revealed considerable improvements in forecasting accuracy. The proposed SARIMA-GARCH model with rolling window forecasting produced a RMSE of 151026.28 and a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 0.0340. This outperformed other baseline models, including simple SARIMA model which had a RMSE of 329,689.88 and a MAPE of 0.0786, and the GARCH model which had a RMSE of 316,168.33 and a MAPE of 0.0685. The data shows that the proposed approach is effective for accurate long-term forecasting of gasoline sales in Canada. The study provides significant data for politicians, industry professionals, and energy investors, assisting them in making informed decisions about resource allocation, strategic planning, and risk management.

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of window displays, architectural displays on the transactional buying interest. Collecting data by distributing questionnaires. with a sample of 150 respondents, measuring using a Likert scale with a purposive sampling method, analyzing data using the IBM SPSS application version 2023. The results prove that Windows display has a positive and significant influence on transactional buying interest. Display architecture has a positive and significant influence on the transactional purchase intention. Simultaneously it proves that together that window display and display architecture have a positive and significant influence on the transactional purchase intention The limitations of this study are the use of questionnaires where sometimes the answers from the respondents do not reflect the actual conditions, time constraints and demographic data of respondents and the variables used are few. This research is expected to be useful for outlets selling at Bencoolen Mall Bengkulu, to increase sales through the arrangement of goods such as window displays, architectural displays

The object of the authors’ research was the festive Christmas window displays of brick-and-mortar retail stores. The main objective of the research was to identify the dominant colours, symbols and signage of Christmas festive displays of retail brick-and-mortar stores across different product categories and countries around the world. A total of 229 retail Christmas window displays, from 14 countries around the world, across 11 assortment categories, ready for the Christmas season in 2020, 2021 and 2022, were examined. The theme of Christmas resonates in retail store windows from the beginning of November until 24 December. After this date, the issue of sales dominates the window displays. The main method of the research was the content analysis used to analyse the documents in order to determine the frequency of occurrence of the pre-given categories. Given that our interpretation of Christmas is based on its Christian foundation, it is not surprising that the main universal colours and symbols of interpretation identified are rooted in Christianity, while other, complementary ones (e.g. Santa Claus with a reindeer sleigh, a snowy landscape, or a gingerbread house) and the signage are the result of changes in popular culture over time.

This research was conducted at Utama Aluminum Store which is a company engaged in general trading or general supplier and manufacture of various doors, frames, windows, X Panda, mosquito wire, and window displays. The purpose of this study was to determine and evaluate the cash sales accounting information system that was running at Utama Aluminum Store and to provide an alternative design of cash sales accounting information systems at Utama Aluminum Store. The data used in this study are primary data obtained directly from Utama Aluminum Store and secondary data obtained in the form that has been in the form of publications. The analytical tool used in this study is a qualitative descriptive analysis tool by analyzing the system using the COSO method, which then continues the conceptual design phase by designing a document flow chart (flowchart), Data Flow Diagram (DFD), Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), Normalization. After that proceed to the physical design stage but only limited to designing database design, input, and output design. Based on the results of the study, the researchers found that the cash sales system run by the company was less effective because there were still a number of tasks in the sales section, and the warehouse section, and also the documents used were still not meeting the system requirements. In addition, the resulting report is a sales report that is only recorded in a book that can cause the resulting report to be ineffective and cause fraud. Furthermore, the researchers designed a cash sales accounting information system that is able to overcome these weaknesses and shortcomings. CV Jaya Mandiri Motor is a company engaged in the sales and installation services of automotive and building window films, with branches in various cities. CV Jaya Mandiri Motor is an official dealer for various types of window films. Due to the increasing demand for window film installations, it is not uncommon for the CV Jaya Mandiri Motor branch in Kota Metro to experience shortages of window film stock, mainly due to the two-week lead time for ordering window films from the central distributor. Therefore, an optimization of the window film inventory system at the CV Jaya Mandiri Motor branch in Kota Metro is necessary to address the issue of stockouts and maximize the company's profits. In conducting research at the CV Jaya Mandiri Motor branch in Kota Metro, the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method is used to determine the most optimal and economical order quantities for each purchasing instance. The research results in the following EOQ values: Heat Protection window film, 98 meters in quantity with a frequency of 3 orders; 3M Black Beauty window film, 171 meters with a frequency of 2 orders; 3M Crystal Line window film, 83 meters with a frequency of 3 orders; Elite/5M window film, 633 meters with a frequency of 1 order; 3D Auto Film window film, 264 meters with a frequency of 2 orders; Black Sun Control window film, 264 meters with a frequency of 1 order; Black Platinum window film, 231 meters with a frequency of 1 order; and Crystal Ice window film, 456 meters with a frequency of 1 order

Consumers’ expectations from retailers increase with the expanding market demand, where diversification in business strategies to satisfy consumer’s expectations has become a managerial concern. Window display is one of the marketing methods that sells in silence, helps better decision making and improves the store’s image. This paper will critically analyse the application of window display at shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur. The investigation will help establish a better understanding of how the window display works in conveying product meaning, value and quality correctly towards youth consumer, while assisting in improving meaning transfer that leads to strategic merchandising messages and sales. In this paper, for the problem of vegetable commodity replenishment, sales volume and cost-plus pricing, firstly, we analyzed the distribution law and correlation relationship of sales volume of different categories and individual products of vegetables, then we used ARIMA time series model and wavelet analysis method to solve to get the relationship between sales volume change and time, and found that sales of flower and leaf category fluctuated more stably with the time series, and showed cyclic changes in the first two years; Then K-means clustering algorithm and Spearman correlation coefficient were used to derive the correlation of sales volume between categories and individual products. Through the K-means model, all individual products are divided into four categories, and the more groups, the greater the correlation. In this paper, support vector machine, random forest, linear regression, GA-XGBoost and other methods were used to establish the pricing and total sales volume regression model respectively, and GA-XGBoost was selected as the optimal model by combining the evaluation indexes. Finally, using the GA-XGBoost algorithm based on the sliding window tree, the time series data is converted into regression data to find the optimal replenishment and pricing prediction value of six categories of commodities for one week, and get the optimal value of daily revenue of the superstore. For example, if the sales unit price of the chili pepper category is set at RMB 20.642, the predicted sales quantity and superstore revenue will be 386.918kg and RMB 5296.856, respectively.

Der erste Artikel liefert Beweise dafür, dass ein Liquiditätsschock bei geschlossenen Fonds zu einer Liquiditätsverschlechterung bei offenen Fonds führen kann. Unsere Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Aktien von geschlossenen Fonds, die aufgrund eines Marktversagens notverkauft wurden, temporär im Preis sinken. Offene Fonds, die viele der betroffenen Aktien halten, erleiden daraufhin einen Kapitalabfluss, der weitere Notverkäufe bedingt. Dies unterstreicht die Ansteckungsgefahr zwischen den beiden Finanzmärkten. Der zweite Artikel untersucht, ob Fonds, die mit Staatsanleihen handeln, ihr Risiko durch den Wertpapierverleih erhöhen, indem sie die hierbei erhaltenen Sicherheiten risikoreich reinvestieren. Hiermit konsistent finden wir, dass die Returnvolatilität von Fonds ansteigt, je mehr Wertpapiere verliehen werden. Diese Korrelation ist nur evident, wenn der für den Wertpapierverleih verantwortliche Agent bereits in der Vergangenheit solch eine Strategie praktiziert hat. Sie verschwindet hingegen, wenn der Agent Sicherheiten nicht risikoreich reinvestieren kann. Im dritten Artikel stellen wir ein neues Maß vor, mit dem sich die Handelsaktivität von Fonds drei Tage vor den Geschäftsberichten untersuchen lässt. Stark handelnde Fonds halten bei Berichtsschluss mehr Gewinner- und weniger Verliereraktien. Zudem sind die üblichen Maße, die zur Identifizierung von Window Dressing verwendet werden, signifikant höher. Aktien, die in den letzten drei Tagen vor den Juli und Dezember Berichten einen starken Nachfrageüberschuss aufweisen, steigen in dieser Periode um durchschnittlich 20 Bsp. Dieser Anstieg ist nicht durch Informationstheorien erklärbar, da die Preise innerhalb von einer Woche auf ihr ursprüngliches Niveau zurückfallen. Aktien mit hoher Liquidität zeigen geringere Anstiege und kehren schneller zum Ausgangspreis zurück. Die Preisbewegungen lassen sich nicht durch einen einzelnen Faktor, wie Window Dressing oder Portfolio Pumping, erklären.
The first paper provides evidence that a liquidity shock to closed-end funds can transmit to open-end funds. Using the failure of the market for auction rate securities we show that forced asset sales of highly levered closed-end funds result in temporary price declines in those assets. Open-end funds that hold significant numbers of the affected stocks in turn experience outflows, forcing them to conduct additional fire-sales. These forced sales induce additional price pressure consistent with financial contagion. The second paper examines whether mutual bond funds increase their risk exposure through securities lending transactions by reinvesting the cash collateral of these transactions in risky assets. Consistent with such behavior, we find that the return volatility of government bond funds increases with the percentage of securities on loan. This relation is only evident among funds whose lending agent likely reinvests the lending collateral riskily and disappears if the lending program is managed by agents who typically cannot make risky reinvestments. The third paper provides a new way to measure the trading activity by mutual funds in the last three days of their reporting periods. Consistent with window dressing, heavy end-of-period (EoP) traders report more winner, fewer loser stocks and higher return and rank gaps, yet perform no better. Stocks with a high positive EoP trade imbalance show significant price increases of about 20 bps at the end of reporting periods in June and December. Inconsistent with information trading, prices revert within a week. Liquid stocks appreciate less strongly and revert more quickly. Finally, we show that window dressing, portfolio pumping, or fund flows alone are unlikely to explain our results.

Despite their environmental benefits, wind farms, have attracted controversy with regard to their impacts on birds. These impacts include collision risks, direct and indirect habitat loss and barrier effects. The main objectives of this study were to determine whether the Baie-des-Sables wind farm, located on the south shore of the St-Lawrence River, is having an impact upon the spring migration of raptors. Emphasis was placed on comparing the differences between both behaviour and abundance of migrating raptors between the wind farm and a contr9l area. Three aspects of behaviour were recorded; altitude, change in direction and flight type. No significant differences were found between the wind, farm area and the control area with respect to migratory behaviour and abundance of any species. Low-lying topography and the fact most migratory raptors flew above blade height likely explain why no differences were found between the wind farm and control area.

In several countries that have been early in the development of wind farms, there is today a second hand market for the used wind turbines. The European Union (EU) has established a waste hierarchy in order to minimize throwaway mentality. The second hand market is a part of this as the steps are to minimize, reuse, recycle, extract energy and landfill. In order to promote the development of renewable energy, there are energy certificates for the producers that provide it, wind power being one type of renewable energy. After 15 years the energy certificates for a specific wind turbine are no longer paid, and after that there are several different scenarios for the wind turbine. The scenarios investigated in this bachelor’s thesis are export of the wind turbine to countries that are not as far along as Sweden in their development towards renewable energy, selling in Sweden to individuals, and recycling of the wind turbine, as it mostly consists of metals and therefore is recyclable. In these three scenarios it is assumed that the sites for wind turbines are being reused for new larger wind turbines that produce more energy. Two additional scenarios are to reduce the number of wind turbines in a wind farm by half, in this way gaining access to free spare parts for the remaining wind turbines and continued operation, i.e. operate them for as long time as possible. To assure the decommissioning of the wind turbines and restoration of the site, there are several economical choices for the operator of the wind turbine. No matter what choice is made, the total amount should be 500 000 SEK according to the permission for the wind turbine. A Swedish authority, Miljöprövningsdelegationen, decides whether the operators choice in reassuring and make a decision based on that. To see which scenario is most profitable the economical part is crucial in this bachelor’s thesis. As a wind turbine is a large investment, the investment calculation is sensitive even to small changes. Inflation, interest rate, electricity price and energy certificate price can all vary a good deal but as it is almost impossible to predict the development of these factors, the inflation, interest rate and energy certificate price are all on a fixed level in this report. The electricity price is assumed to be dependent of the inflation solely. By using these assumptions and Microsoft Excel it has been clear that selling the wind turbine and reuse the site for a new larger wind turbine is the most profitable. Sweden has the goal to have 30 TWh, equivalent to 20 %, electricity from wind until year 2020. Today the part is 6.5 TWh, equivalent to 4 %. To make this goal reality it is necessary to make the permitting process easier and faster than the case is today. If Sweden compares to Denmark they already have 28 % electricity from wind and they aim for 50 %.

Inom Europeiska Unionen (EU) har en avfallshierarki upprättats för att minska slit- och slängmentaliteten. Andrahandsmarknaden är en del i detta då stegen är minimera, återanvända, återvinna, energiutvinna och deponera. För att främja utvecklingen av förnyelsebar el finns elcertifikat till de producenter som tillhandahåller detta, däribland vindkraft. Efter 15 år slutar elcertifikatet att utbetalas för ett specifikt vindkraftverk, och då finns olika scenarier för vindkraftverket. De scenarier som undersöks i detta examensarbete är export av verket till länder som inte kommit lika långt som Sverige med förnyelsebar energi, försäljning inom Sverige till privatpersoner och återvinning av verket, som främst består av metaller och därmed är återvinningsbart. I dessa tre scenarier avses det att samma plats återanvänds för nya större verk som producerar mer. Ytterligare två scenarier är att halvera antalet verk i en park och på så vis få tillgång till gratis reservdelar till de återstående verken samt fortsatt drift av verket, det vill säga köra dem så länge det går. För att säkerställa nedmontering av vindkraftverk och återställning av platsen finns olika ekonomiska alternativ för verksamhetsutövaren. Oavsett vilket alternativ som väljs ska summan resultera i 500 000 kronor per vindkraftverk enligt tillståndet till verket. Miljöprövningsdelegationen (MPD) avgör om verksamhetsutövarens valda alternativ är betryggande och beslutar utifrån det. För att se vad som är det mest lönsamma scenariot spelar den ekonomiska delen en stor roll för arbetet. Eftersom vindkraft är en stor investering blir investeringskalkylen känslig även för små förändringar. Inflationen, räntan, elpriset och elcertifikatpriset är poster som kan variera mycket men eftersom det är i princip omöjligt att förutspå hur utvecklingen kommer se ut är inflationen, räntan och elcertifikatpriset satt på en fast nivå. Elpriset är sedan beroende av inflationen. Med hjälp av dessa antaganden och Microsoft Excel har det mest lönsamma scenariot tagits fram vilket är att sälja verket och sätta upp ett nytt större på platsen. Sverige har som mål att fram till år 2020 ha 30 TWh, motsvarande 20 %, el från vindkraft i elnätet. Idag är andelen 6,5 TWh, motsvarande 4 %. För att detta ska bli verklighet måste tillståndsprocessen förenklas och gå snabbare än vad fallet är idag. Jämförs Sverige med Danmark har de redan 28 % vindkraftsel och siktar på 50 %.

The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the Window Covering Industry and their background. The next chapter introduces different varieties of window coverings and explains their functionality including their features and benefits. Next is the introduction of Company A and its background. This research uses the data provided by Company A to analyze the correlations between online sales (dependent variables) and independent variables including environment, demography, and economics in the United States. Lastly, data are pooled and analytical tools; descriptive statistics, correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis; are used to emphasize the data and to search out their impact of each factor on the sales of different categories of hard window coverings. The results of the correlation analysis and regression analysis reveal that certain ethnic groups, Non-Hispanic White, Black and Asian affect the sales more than others. The data also suggest that Asians favor both Light Filtering and Room Darkening product categories and Blacks have a high preference of product categories in Light Blocking. Regional wise, the data also suggest that the best sales are in the South of United States. But the best testing ground for new products would be in the Northeast region of New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The average annual temperature is more influential on the overall sales of window coverings than the median household income. And yet, the number of clear days in the sky would decrease the sales of certain window coverings. This result is much more than anticipated and not only helps the sales on the internet, but also the sales in the retail stores.

This study investigates the search patterns for predicting hotel bookings. Using Expedia’s search and purchase data, I identified the user’s booking window and which events have a higher effect on the booking likelihood. The tourism industry has seen exponential growth over the last two decades, much due to global socioeconomic changes, globalization and internet massification. Portugal is finally reaping its share of profit and continues winning “best destination” prizes year after year. It is now part of a very competitive ecosystem where distribution plays a determinant role in whether the touristic product survives or not. Big players like Expedia and Booking.com have taken control of a big chunk of the market’s revenue because they understood that the large amounts of data they have enabled predicting demand hence offering highly competitive deals. Only by understanding the booking drivers one can negotiate better distribution deals and lower commissions through making better sales predictions and enhancing marketing and revenue strategies, hence the purpose of this study being to use data mining to find patterns in room bookings, enabling this industry to become an even more important source for the country’s GDP. Through the analysis of consumer behavior and booking times and the use of time series analysis and machine learning, it is possible to find patterns that can be applied across not only Hospitality but other industries as well. By looking for the connections and the relevance of each feature on the final predictions, a new window of opportunity will open for marketing and sales professionals.

Forecasting is an important function used in a wide range of business planning or decision-making situations. The purpose ofthis study was to build a sales forecasting model that would be practical and cost effective, from the various forecasting methods and techniques available. Various forecast models, methods and techniques are outlined in the initial part of this study by the author. The author has outlined some of the fundamentals and limitations that underline the preparations of forecasting models. It is not the purpose of this study to microscopically dissect each forecasting model, method or technique. Various forecasting options were assessed in a manner that could provide some relevance to the study, thus providing a general framework for the construction of the specific sales forecasting model. Appropriate data sources were described and analysed. The data was further tested using the author's chosen quantitative forecasting techniques. Results were interpreted, and included into the author's untested sales model. It is the author's opinion that the sales model is practical, cost effective and gives a general sales forecast.

According to his kin, John Wompas was “no sachem,” although he claimed that status to achieve his economic and political ends. He drew on the legal and political practices of both Indians and the English—even visiting and securing the support of King Charles II—to legitimize the land sales that funded his extravagant spending. But he also used the knowledge acquired in his English education to defend the land and rights of his fellow Nipmucs. This book offers a window on seventeenth-century New England and the Atlantic world from the unusual perspective of an American Indian who, even though he may not have been what he claimed, was certainly out of the ordinary. Drawing on documentary and anthropological sources as well as consultations with Native people, the book shows how Wompas turned the opportunities and hardships of economic, cultural, religious, and political forces in the emerging English empire to the benefit of himself and his kin.

AbstractThe energy sector accounts for three-quarters of greenhouse gas emissions presently, and consequently, efforts to mitigate the consequences of climate change rely massively on improving the condition of our energy consumption, production and transportation. Some of the broad trends that are predicted to realize by 2050 include the global energy demand to continue rising at an average annual growth rate to 2% with most of the increased demand coming from South Asian and African countries which experience significant economic growth during these three decades. Most of the increased demand of energy will be in the form of electricity, and efficiency in electricity production, storage and transportation will become absolutely crucial. Almost 77% of new energy demand is predicted to be met using solar and wind energy production, with some help from biofuels and nuclear energy. The realization of a net-zero future requires the adding capacity for 630 GW of solar power and 390 GW of wind power generation every year, mass electrification of vehicles to increase electric vehicles’ share of global sales from around 5% presently to 60% by 2050, and significant improvement in energy storage and transmission.

Abstract Additive manufacturing technology is one of the leading technologies of the latest phase of the industrial revolution, Industry 4.0, and is attracting significant attention from both academia and industries. Truck-drone bimodal delivery system was studied and applied for multiple decades due to its high cost-savings and high customer satisfaction. However, to the best of our knowledge, there is no prior work combining additive manufacturing and truck-drone delivery system, although each of them has been widely implemented. This paper aims to fill this gap by integrating truck-drone delivery system with mobile additive manufacturing while also considering the customers’ preferred delivery time-window and the optimal printing sequence. A mixed integer linear programming model is proposed to establish this innovative mechanism. A computational case study was applied to validate the proposed model. The results confirm the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed model. The results also indicate that the maximum drone flight range and the printing job complexity have the significant impacts on the overall cost performance and satisfying the customers’ on-time delivery requirements. The proposed mechanism is applicable to multiple industrial sectors, including manufacturing, after-sales service, and warehouse inventory management.

In the article we discussed the process of young consumers’ shopping behaviour. We focused on information behaviour awareness when choosing clothes. When purchasing clothes fundamental information sources are: commercial advertisements on TV and radio, fashion magazines and catalogue sales, shop windows, commercial mail in your mailbox, friends and acquaintances, billboards along roads and on streets as well modern web media (Facebook, Twitter, Google). We compared the results of the research conducted in 1999, 2011 and 2021. We found differences in information behaviour in the examined years. In 1999, young people most frequently used the following sources when selecting clothes: catalogue sales, shop windows, friends and acquaintances as well as commercials on TV. In 2011, the biggest impact on deciding what to purchase had friends and acquaintances, shop windows and commercial mail in the mailbox. In 2021, the biggest impact had the websites of clothes producers, friends and acquaintances as well as modern social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok) when choosing what clothes to buy.

Molten salts were widely used in nuclear and solar power field due to the excellent heat transfer and storage. Molten fluoride salts were selected as primary and secondary coolants in the Molten Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE) developed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Therefore, it is dramatically important to study the physical and chemical properties of molten fluoride salts that impact on the design of reactor core and thermohydraulics. The molecular structure directly determines the physical and chemical properties of matter, so it is also essential to study the structure of molten salts. Spectroscopy has been proven to be a very useful tool for investigating molten salts structures. However, the standard instrument is inapplicable for measurement of the high temperature molten salts, especially for molten fluoride salts. To obtain the ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) absorption spectra of molten salts at high temperature, an instrument was designed to study the structures of molten salts in situ. The instrument is mainly composed of a vertical pit furnace connecting with a glovebox and an assembled cuvette which can operate from room temperature up to 800°C. The assembled cuvette is made of Hastelloy C/N as the main body with a reverse ‘T’ contour and diamond or crystalline CaF2 etc. as the window plates, so it can withstand the corrosion produced by the sample and allow the interest light passing through. The effective spectral range of this instrument is from 200 to 1000 nm. Performances of the instrument are testified by spectral studies on water under room temperature and molten salts under high temperature.

As cyberattacks against the cloud become more frequent, operators must define efficient maintenance strategies to safeguard data centers. Existing maintenance strategies strive to minimize the maintenance duration and the number of migrations. However, such solutions overlook the period that servers wait for their update, which represents a vulnerability window that attackers can exploit. Accordingly, this study introduces a novel metric, Vulnerability Surface, which assesses maintenance strategies regarding servers' exposure. In addition, we present Salus, a heuristic that minimizes servers' exposure during maintenance. Experimental results show that Salus reduces the Vulnerability Surface by 19.44% compared to baseline strategies.

Abstract To assess the economic viability of a liquids rich unconventional gas project, a break-even sales gas price (BEP) is determined. The calculated BEP for such projects is uncertain as market pricing and revenue from secondary liquid production is uncertain. This secondary revenue provides a partial yet significant offset to capital and operating costs. Through the application of stochastic methods, uncertainty associated with the required project sales gas BEP can be calculated to inform management decision making. Stochastic economic evaluation of a generic unconventional gas development was undertaken using synthetic data. Fluid windows range from lean (dry) gas to liquid-rich with multiple uncertain secondary product revenue streams from these fluid windows impacting heavily on the resulting sales gas BEP. Further impacting the sales gas BEP are other uncertain inputs including: capital costs, operating costs, production, and project timing. Probability distributions were assigned to forecast secondary product prices, capital and operating costs. Through the application of this model combined with a novel approach to calculating the BEP (after-tax), uncertainty associated with the resulting BEP can be calculated. The model delivered clear visibility on BEP uncertainty. Key statistics include the mean, median, percentiles, and probability of the project BEP exceeding defined price thresholds. The primary purpose of completing a stochastic economic evaluation for capital intensive oil and gas projects is to understand uncertainty associated with the expected project NPV to enable a project FID decision. In jurisdictions with a regulated natural gas market, selected gas projects receive a fixed long-term gas price with infrequent ability to renegotiate the gas price. The fixed gas price is established by the regulator with intent to provide the producer with a fixed rate of return. However, for liquids rich gas projects, the project return is never truly fixed given significant exposure to market pricing for these secondary products, amongst other factors. Hence it is essential to understand the probabilistic nature of the BEP. Given significant capital requirements for necessary upstream and midstream infrastructure, once an investment decision has been made, a continuous drilling campaign must be sustained to ensure full use of this fixed infrastructure. Once the primary build-out of this infrastructure is complete and given relatively certain drilling and rigless costs, the primary uncertainty becomes pricing and revenues from secondary products. This model supports decision making by providing visibility on the expected BEP and probable range of the BEP. The model results also established a clear relationship between gas BEP and pricing for secondary products. In contrast to traditional stochastic economic analysis focused on project NPV, the focus of this analysis is on the implied after-tax BEP. Given thousands of iterations are required to perform stochastic analysis, use of the common excel-based goal-seek function to identify the BEP is impractical. Instead, a formulaic approach to estimate the after-tax BEP was employed, enabling the concurrent calculation of the after-tax project BEP during each iteration of the stochastic simulation.

Glass is a solid material with an inorganic amorphous structure, prone to fracture, defined as transparent or translucent, and usually observed in a complicated form. In auto glasses, on the other hand, transparency, that is, light transmittance is directly proportional to the colour of the glass. In auto windows, the colour of the glass is of great importance because the driver's vision is crucial due to specific light transmission rules. However, the thickness of the auto glass characterized as durable also causes different preferences in terms of customer requests. In this study, we carried out to rank the customer preferences based on customer expectations using the sales data for three years in terms of the colour and thickness of auto glass. Within the scope of the study, we proposed a trapezoidal fuzzy number integrated fuzzy entropy and fuzzy TOPSIS model to rank the alternative auto glass. A case study is also presented for illustrative purposes.

The Food Standards Agency commissioned Fera Science Ltd. to carry out a survey to obtain a snapshot of CBD products on sale in England and Wales in order to inform FSA risk assessment of CBD products. Thirty CBD products were purchased from a range of online sellers from England and Wales. Samples comprised of two broad categories: oils and sprays, and edibles (including beverages). The sampling followed a scheme suggested by FSA. This is not a statistically representative sample of the market and instead provides a snapshot of the current market, to assist the design of future sampling and surveillance activity. There is the potential for residues of chemicals to be present in CBD products as a result of their natural occurrence in the raw material or arising from the manufacturing process, for example, mycotoxins, metals, pesticides, and the residues of solvents used to extract CBD. This study informs the FSA’s understanding of the type and levels of contaminants that may arise in CBD products. A wide range of analysis on CBD products was undertaken using accredited methods, for heavy metals, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), pesticides, mycotoxins, CBD content and cannabinoid profiles. Analysis for residual solvents and additional mycotoxins was also carried out, but these were not accredited. The results of testing found the following: Heavy metals (cadmium, mercury & lead) and arsenic were not detected in the majority of samples, meaning levels were below the limits of quantification of the method. Seven samples contained lead, four samples arsenic and two samples contained cadmium. Mercury was not found in any sample. A definitive statement as to whether products exceed maximum levels cannot be made due to uncertainty as to whether products would be classified as a food (i.e. oil) or a food supplement. A low incidence of low levels of mycotoxins, with Fusarium mycotoxins found more frequently than aflatoxins and ochratoxin A, mostly at the methods reporting limit. Three samples were found to contain ochratoxin A at the methods reporting limit. A total of seven pesticide residues were found across all of the products (each product was tested for over 400 pesticides). There are no specific Maximum Residue Limits (MRL) for CBD products. One oil product was found to have PAHs above the regulated levels, if classed as a product for direct consumption. If classed as a food supplement the PAHs were within regulated levels. Three samples contained residual solvents. One product was over the MRL. Most products contained CBD close to the declared value. Two oils had substantially different levels than that declared (one higher and one lower). CBD was not detected in one of the drink products. These are potentially non-compliant with compositional and standards requirements. Delta 9-THC was detected in 87 % (26) of the samples analysed. Of these 40% (12) were found to have THC+ (the total sum of illicit cannabinoids in the product) above the 1mg threshold outlined in current Home Office guidance (Opens in a new window).
