Resumen
AbstractIn his libertarian manifesto, For a New Liberty, Murray Rothbard [15] points to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an excellent model for what a private welfare program would look like in a free society. In analyzing this same organization, we can see that nearly 50 years later Rothbard’s analysis is truer than ever. Unlike the public welfare programs in the U.S., the LDS church has successfully helped lift countless individuals out of poverty and off the welfare rolls by increasing their level of productivity – a point that Henry Hazlitt [7] made in his book, The Conquest of Poverty. Public welfare, on the other hand, has continuously failed to increase the standard of living or even lift those it ostensibly seeks to help out of poverty; on the contrary, it is a system that prevents economic independence. The analysis in the present paper seeks to revive, amplify and bring up to date Rothbard’s observation and provide further insight on key factors that other private organizations can take from the Church’s model. Ultimately, it reveals that the successful journey out of poverty is not a public but rather a private endeavor.

Resumen
‘CRISIS? WHAT CRISIS?’, THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER was reported to have replied to a question concerning the alleged crisis in sterling. In the case of the welfare state it might seem that the appropriate response would be ‘Which crisis? ’ since there are several on the menu - fiscal crisis, legitimacy crisis, crisis of ungovernability . Left, Right and Centre have become convinced that there is a crisis. This is after a period of history which had seen an unprecedented rise in the standard of living of the vast majority of the population living in what are normally regarded as welfare states.

Resumen
This study utilizes provincial panel data from China spanning from 2013 to 2019 and considers indices such as residents’ income, employment, housing, education, and medical care to comprehensively measure the welfare index of each province using the coefficient of variation. It also examines the impact and mechanism of digital financial inclusion on welfare and evaluates its influence on welfare imbalance through panel data models and RIF regression. The estimation results of digital financial inclusion on welfare indicate that digital financial inclusion is an important driver elevating the income, employment, housing, education, medical treatment and other welfares of Chinese residents, and the conclusion remains robust after using instrumental variable estimation and replacing the measurement method of welfare. Regional differences reveal that digital financial inclusion has a greater contribution to the welfare in the Midwest. The effect mechanism test shows that digital financial inclusion improves the welfare by creating employment opportunities and plays a greater role in the Midwest, and will also improve the welfare by increasing the welfare expenditure. However, this mechanism will exacerbate the welfare imbalance between the Midwest and East. The estimation results of digital financial inclusion on the welfare imbalance show that digital financial inclusion reduces welfare imbalance between the central and western regions and the eastern regions, as well as within the central and western regions.

Resumen
With welfare reform soundly launched and its effects already praised, it is time to examine its impact on former welfare recipients. A typology of adaptation to welfare—comprising dependency, supplementation, self-reliance, and autonomy—was developed based on former welfare recipients' financial status and employment status. An examination was also made of ways in which welfare recipients changed from more independent modes of adaptation (autonomy and self-reliance) to less independent modes (supplementation and dependency). Using longitudinal data extracted from a U. S. Department of Labor survey, event history analysis was applied to investigate changes in adaptation mode and factors contributing to these changes, among former welfare recipients across a period of 1 8 years. The investigation found that return to welfare was uncommon. Furthermore, the results show that nonpoor former recipients most often joined the ranks of the working poor because of welfare reform, ethnicity, education level, occupational skills, family income, housing subsidy, child care, and prior experience in welfare use. Some nonpoor former recipients who spent long spells in welfare returned to welfare because they suffered income reductions and needed food stamps. Working poor former recipients were likely to become nonpoor if they were married and had no need for child care or food stamps. Working poor White, single mothers with little work experience and little child support were likely to return to welfare and become further dependent on it.

Resumen
The study examined the effect of employees’ welfare on the organizational effectiveness in Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomosho (BUTH), Nigeria. Using the survey method, 384 staff members of Bowen University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Ogbomosho were sampled to test three hypotheses. The findings of the study showed that the available welfare programmes (job-related injuries and illness prevention facilities; subsidized medical facilities for employee’s family members; training and development) in BUTH had a significant impact on employees’ performance (R2=.642, F= 16.413, P<.05). It was further established that there was a positive and significant relationship between corporate performance and economic welfare scheme (r = .209, p<.05), recreational welfare services and corporate performance (r = .169, p<.05), while no significant relationship was found between corporate performance and facilitative welfare scheme (r = .070, p>.05) of the hospital. The findings of the study indicated employees’ lack of trust in the BUTH’s welfare programmes (β=.318, t= 5.287, p<.05), tedious procedures in applying for the use of welfares’ facilities (β=.270, t= 4.283, p<.05), bad leadership (β=.238, t= 4.136, p<.05), and poor implementation of welfare programmes (β=.122, t= 2.286, p<.05) as the major factors affecting the effectiveness of employees’ welfare programmes in BUTH. The study thus recommended improvement of workers’ working conditions and general welfare in order to elicit employees’ job satisfaction and motivation for increased work performance in the hospital

Resumen
Consumer welfare and their satisfaction is the primary and basic objective of any government, policy makers and economists. The theory of economics encircles from welfares of the consumers. In this regard, the demand function has persuasive role in determining the welfare through purchasing power. That’s why, the consumer welfare is measured from Marshallian’s demand through Indirect Utility Function during 1980-2017 for Pakistan. The variables are stationary at level and in analytical technique, the NLS and ARMA (Least Regression Analysis) method was operative through econometric views (E-Views) software. The result indicates that income of the consumer has significant and positive effect, while price of goods has significantly negative effect on the consumer welfare and utility in case of Pakistan. Further, the long run association of consumption, income and consumer welfare was found. This study recommends that incremental efforts are required by the government to bring stability in the prices of goods, policies must aim and focus on provision of employment and income generating activities, control of income inequality and minimize income class disparities to maximization welfare of the individuals living in different regions and in societies of Pakistan.
