Resumen
Walter Benjamin formulated the concept of the aura in 1930 while experimenting with hashish. He describes an aura as the essence of an object that is only present in the act of perception. The aura changes from one occurrence of its perception to another. After the hashish trance, the perceiver can not remember the essence of an object - it's aura. The aura has an ambiguity, as well as various meanings in Benjamin's works: a) The aura is used in bourgeois art appreciation and criticism as a criteria to access art. Aura refers to subjective perception or ability, the paradigm of enlightenment. b) The aura is the unique perception of the essence or materiality of an object, one that cannot be represented by means of the signification of language. c) The aura exists in perception, therefore in the relationship between subject and object. d) Benjamin attributes perception of the aura as close, yet distanced in order to describe an auratic perception. e) An auratic perception exists outside of everyday life/routine and only as an autonomous artistic perception. f) An experience can be auratic in so far as an individual can understand the essence of his/her environment in relation to history. By postulating an auratic experience that grasps materiality in its totality Benjamin 4uestions the position of the subject in German Idealism, epitomised by Hegel's practical idea. At the same time Benjamin realises that materiality cannot be represented in its totality in the discourse of signification. Thereby the aura can only gain a metaphoric access to representation. Technology denies any auratic perception or experience, as such the auratic exists only in the hypothesis of a historical origin, such as a metaphysical paradisical condition. The commodity structure stands as a paradigm for modern perception and experience. Commodity fetishism denies the subject an auratic interaction and the relation between subject and object is phantasmagoria!. An auratic perception or experience is replaced by one determined by technology. Benjamin calls the latter one of actuality. Thereby the commodity denies an experience leading to the concept of totality. Benjamin's formulation of the concept of the aura has been seen as his turn to Marxism. A clear demarcation has been drawn between his metaphysical and Marxist writings. My thesis argues that such a division is inadequate and that the common demoninator between Benjamin's earlier and later work has not been analysed sufficiently. Bibliography: pages 225-236.

Resumo: Nesta dissertação, procuramos, em primeiro lugar, resgatar historicamente o movimento de dança expressionista alemão, em virtude da sua importância, visto que este movimento teve uma forte repercussão no âmbito mundial, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento da dança moderna, podendo até hoje ser vistos claros reflexos seus no Tanztheater e no Butoh. Este movimento também deixou suas marcas no Brasil, na medida em que diversos profissionais, que tiveram um papel importante no estabelecimento da dança no Brasil, terem sido fortemente influenciados pela dança expressionista alemã. Todavia, como não seria possível, no âmbito limitado desta dissertação, abarcar a trajetória de todos os profissionais que tiveram forte ligação com esta estética, optamos por focalizar apenas o trabalho de dois artistas: Yanka Rudzka e Aurel von Milloss. As razões que nos levaram a focalizar o trabalho desenvolvido por Yanka Rudzka e por Aurel von Milloss, estão ligadas ao fato da primeira ter sido a fundadora da faculdade de dança da Universidade Federal da Bahia, representando o início do movimento de inserção da dança no mundo universitário e, do segundo ter exercido uma forte influência na formação de uma geração de profissionais, dentre os quais constam professores e coreógrafos que atuam até hoje, como: Ady Addor, Ismael Guiser, Márika Gidali, Neyde Rossi, entre outros, desempenhando um papel importante no cenário da dança acadêmica no Brasil

Resumen
This thesis confronts how, in Vincent Moon’s films, experience takes the spotlight in detriment of signification. I formulate that the director, rather than worrying about imbuing his films with an inherited sense, is instead searching that his work may express something unique each time it is encountered. To achieve this, his artistic practice is submitted through a set of procedures that are more in line with the field of sound than that of cinema. By transposing values that are deeply rooted into sound philosophy to film (particularly Listening by Jean-Luc Nancy), Moon’s work criticizes the predominant ocular-centric perspective where meaning and understanding is the ultimate goal. Questioning the implications of such a practice, I relate emerging studies related to sound with Deleuze’s Actual/Virtual circuit and Walter Benjamin’s auratic experience. I conclude by proposing that in Vincent Moon a new form of image surfaces, one that even though in its early stages, should be comprehended through its explosive capacity to deliver an experience and in its intrinsic transient and ephemeral nature—the encounter-image.
Esta tesis se enfrenta a cómo la experiencia es el centro de la atención en detrimento de la significación en las películas de Vincent Moon. Formulo que el director está buscando que su trabajo exprese algo único cada vez que se lo encuentre en vez de preocuparse por imbuir sus películas con un sentido. Para lograr esto, su práctica artística se somete a un conjunto de procedimientos que están más en línea con el campo del sonido que el del cine. Al transponer valores profundamente arraigados en la filosofía del sonido al cine (particularmente A la escucha de Jean-Luc Nancy), el trabajo de Moon critica la perspectiva ocular predominante donde el significado y la comprensión es el objetivo final. Al cuestionar las implicaciones de tal práctica, dialogo con estudios emergentes relacionados con el sonido con lo Actual y lo Virtual de Deleuze, además de la experiencia aurática de Walter Benjamin. Concluyo proponiendo que Vincent Moon propone una nueva forma de imagen, una que debe ser comprendida a través de su capacidad explosiva de ofrecer una experiencia de naturaleza intrínsecamente transitoria y efímera: la imagen-encuentro.

Migräne wird gegenwärtig als multifaktorielle Erkrankung mit komplexem Vererbungsmodus verstanden. In einer Assoziationsstudie wurde im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit untersucht, inwiefern ein hochpolymorpher CAG-repeat-tragender Abschnitt des KCNN3-Gens zur Entstehung von sporadischer Migräne mit bzw. ohne Aura beiträgt. Der methodische Teil dieser Arbeit beinhaltete die Etablierung neuer Methoden zum Nachweis von triplet-repeat-Längenpolymorphismen. Dabei wurde getestet, ob sich die Real-Time-PCR mit Schmelzkurvenanalyse und die SYBR-Gold-Färbemethode als Alternative zur standardmäßig verwendeten Polymerasekettenreaktion mit nachfolgender vertikaler Polyacrylamidgelelektrophorese und Nachweis mittels Autoradiographie eignen. Da KCNN3 auf dem zur familiären hemiplegischen Migräne gekoppelten Genabschnitt auf Chromosom 1q21.3 liegt, sein Genprodukt – ein Kalzium-aktivierter Kaliumkanal – eine wichtige Rolle bei der Modulation neuronaler Erregungsmechanismen spielt und durch den CAG-Polymorphismus einen wichtigen Mikrosatellitenmarker einerseits und einen funktionell bedeutenden Bereich andererseits beinhaltet, erschien es als geeignetes Kandidatengen zur Untersuchung einer möglichen Assoziation mit Migräne. Im Rahmen der Assoziationsstudie wurden 190 Migränepatienten und 232 Kontrollpersonen hinsichtlich ihrer 2[CAG]n-tragenden Allele des KCNN3 genotypisiert. Nachfolgend wurde die Verteilung der Genotyp- und Allelfrequenzen in der Fall- und in der Kontrollgruppe miteinander verglichen. Hierbei zeigte sich, dass Träger eines seltenen Allels mit 15 CAGs signifikant häufiger an Migräne mit und ohne Aura erkranken. Bezüglich aller anderen Allele wurde keine Assoziation mit Migräne gefunden. Dies spricht dafür, dass KCNN3 an der Pathogenese der Migräne beteiligt ist, ihm aber lediglich eine untergeordnete Rolle zukommt. KCNN3 wurde somit als ein Kandidatengen für Migräne bestätigt, das durch funktionelle Analysen und weitere genetische Untersuchungen eingehender betrachtet werden sollte
Migraine is considered to be a polygenic disease.The present association study was designed to further elucidate the molecular genetic basis of migraine with and without aura. Interest in ion channels in migraine has been spurred by molecular genetic findings in familial hemiplegic migraine. Given this role of ion channels in migraine, the potassium channel KCNN3 on chromosome 1q21.3 is assessed as a candidate gene for common migraine. Therefore the highly polymorphic CAG repeat region of the KCNN3 gene coding for a poly-glutamine stretch, which constitutes part of the cytoplasmic tail of the channel protein, was analysed by comparing the allele distribution of 190 patients and 232 migraine-free controls. Genotyping of this highly polymorphic region was performed by PCR analysis with PAGE (visualized by autoradiography). Moreover we tried to establish new methods for determining triplet repeat length polymorphisms (i.e. analysis of DNA melting curves during real-time-PCR and detecting DNA by SYBR Gold nucleic acid gel stain). An significantly excess of the allele coding for 15 poly-glutamines in patients with migraine with and without aura was found. All the other alleles were not significantly associated with migraine. The potassium channel KCNN3 may thus be of pathophysiological importance in migraine with and without aura
