Texto completoThe main purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the Summer Training Program (STP) on vocational development of midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy. To test this a sample of 615 first-class midshipmen and 615 second-class midshipmen from the classes of 2002-2004 completed a survey regarding their experiences on summer cruise. Survey answers were grouped into several factors derived from a review of the literature in vocational psychology. The relationship between these factors and their final warfare community preferences were analyzed using several cross-tabulations, univariate tests and multivariate models. Cross-tabulations showed that only 25% of midshipmen change their warfare community preference during the last two years at the Academy. Independent Pearson Correlation (r) showed the affect of each of the different factors on warfare community selection. Of the different variables identified: gender, academic major, running-mate qualification/experience, and ship morale were found to have an impact on the desire to select surface warfare at the conclusion of the summer training experience. The multivariate models (logit) verified that the above variables were significant in determining the choice of warfare community and also showed that observed ship morale was the dominant factor above all others in helping to form career interests.

Texto completoWhile science is going straight forward nature science specialties needs more and more specialists. But among such kind of studies are still not so popular. That’s why there is some difficulties to full fill that kind working places. In recent ten years schools started to pay more attention to informal and to vocational guidance in schools. These kind of teaching helps for school children to select further studies and profession success. In this work we wanted to test the connection ways of informal nature science education and vocational guidance in school. For this propos we hypothesize three hypotheses: 1) reveal schoolchildren vocational guidance. 2) To find out attendance motivation schoolchildren who selected nature science clusters. 3) Find out schoolchildren vocational guidance and attended nature science correlations. Vocational guidance is not at all schools. If we wanted to find out influence of some ranges to profession selection we should do some researches like that. Than we have had a full view about influence of Lithuanian vocational guidance at schools. Than we could see what type of vocational guidance needs more attention according to his offered benefit. For this purpose and huphothesis we have choose method of questionnaire. We have asked 60 persons. After research we can say that such social factors as: friend’s recommendations, offers of teachers have quite big influence for selection of nature science circles. Smallest influence for selections of such... [to full text]

The purpose of our essay is to shed light on the reasons for students making a new/second selection of program to upper secondary school. The essay is based upon qualitative research and interviews with six pupils who have made a new selection. Often the causes for making a new selection are either to leave a particular program or to enter a particular program. Some of the reasons for students changing from a program are uncertainty, poor organization, living away from home, uncomfortable living quarters, tired of the program, lack of interest, low pace of study, as well as a lack of knowledge of one's self and/or the program. The reasons for a student changing to a particular program are interest, uncertainty and friends. One strategy was to extend the time for consideration regarding choice of vocation and then changing to a study-specific program. It is apparent that the most recent selection was considered more certain than previous selections. All of the students in this study had chosen vocational programs while in comprehensive school. Those students who studied in communities away from home chose to return to their home community to study. All of the students have changed from vocational programs to programs preparing them for continued academic studies. Information concerning upper secondary school and preparation for both vocational and academic studies is offered by the school before program selection. The students in this study have mentioned numerous activities concerning academic and vocational preparation but their only comments concerning these activities were that there was too little practical experience and too little information presented during their educational visits to various businesses. Before making a new choice of program, students generally discuss their choice with parents, friends, guidance counselors and mentors. All the students claim that they had had discussions with their friends but that the final decision was their own.

Texto completoThe first chapter of the thesis on "Empirical Studies on Human Capital and Institutions" presents estimates of returns to education in Germany and analyses the determinants of educational choices. The second chapter uses estimated returns to home country experience of US immigrants to provide empirical evidence that trade increases on-the-job human capital accumulation even in less developed countries, thereby resolving the theoretical ambiguity whether trade increases or decreases learning-by-doing. Similar to trade, GDP per capita, a high average level of educational attainment and stronger quality of policy and institutions are found to be positively associated with on-the-job human capital accumulation. The last chapter analyses the effect of natural resources and aid on institutions, providing empirical evidence that contrary to aid, mineral and fuel abundance tends to be associated with significantly lower quality of institutions if ethnic fractionalization is large.

Texto completoHow can one be a police constable ? This thesis tries to answer this question by analysing the building process of attraction to police jobs and the procedures for selecting the candidates. It deals first with the entrance fee candidates must pay. Although the nature and the amount of this fee is officially defined, the sentence pronounced by the gate-keepers of the institution is, in fact, unable to ensure the compatility of the recruits with the requirements of the position. Recruitment actions can be seen, therefore, as a critical moment for the stability of the institution. However, the rise and consolidation of the vocation for police jobs make candidates socially prepared to comply with the institution. The police is more the inquiry field than the object of this thesis, that propounds a contribution to the analysis of the reproduction of institutions involved in public policy

Texto completoThe aim of this doctoral thesis is the modeling of expert pilot behaviors in flight collisions. This modeling gives the first echnologic steps to elaborate a new "sense and avoid" system allowing the future integration of Unmanned Air Vehicles in eneral air traffic. The proposed modeling is the result of global and holistic way and describes the cognitive process and he architecture of systems allowing the expression of these cognitive processes. This model allows solving the collision problem thanks to an observable and adapted piloted behavior. Besides a generic modeling of cognitive process of ategorization has been built and based on non linear regression theory and numeric methods for the resolution of ptimization problems.hanks to this global modeling, this new "sense and avoid" system is made of a simple passive optic sensor and it emulates he detection process, the recognition process and the and the actions selection process allowing the resolution of collision problem by a adapted piloted behavior. Thanks to the generic categorization modeling, the main technologic result is to be ble to determinate the Time To Collision (ITC) with a passive sensor. The determination of the TTC is essential for the 'sense and avoid" systems to get the level safety certification required to integrate drones in general air traffic

This thesis mainly discusses the impact of social status on vocational selection and economic variables. Theoretically, there are two conclusions, first, when people raise the degree of importance of social status, more people will select higher social status vocation and fewer people will select lower social status vocation, resulting in inefficient allocation of labor. Then, the level of capital、output、consumption and lifetime utility will cut back. Second, the government may choose to subsidize the labor of lower social status vocation to improve the economy. In addition, there are two conclusions from the numerical analysis, first, when the production share of higher social status vocation increases, more people will select higher social status vocation and fewer people will select lower social status vocation, resulting in inefficient allocation of labor. Then, the level of capital、output、consumption and lifetime utility will cut back. Second, when the production share of lower social status vocation increases, fewer people will select higher social status vocation. But increased production share of lower social status vocation will decrease the capital share, leading to a reduction of capital. Then, the level of output、consumption and lifetime utility will indirectly decrease.

Abstract The purpose of this study aims to understand vocational ambition and vocational selection of the students and the alumni in college dance department, and also to explore how life events and career inference affect their attitudes toward vocational ambition and vocational selection. This study was conducted by the self-edited questionnaire as the investigation tool. By using judgment sampling and convenience sampling, the valid questionnaires were 687 pieces from the dance students in college and university and 110 pieces from the alumni who graduated from dance schools with 100% and 30% effective return rate respectively. The conclusions drawn from the study show that the dance students in college and graduates are mainly doing dance-related vocations, especially dance performance and dance teaching, but differences may arise in different stages. As for vocational ambition and vocational selection, the graduates pay more attention to the levels of availability, stability, and satisfaction while college students focus more on the level of fondness. In addition, there is a significant difference among the overall students, the students of dance performance group and the students of dance teaching group. With regard to life events, the factors "successful participation" and "learning experience" have significant difference in the students of dance performance and the students of dance teaching. Both factors seem more important to the dance students in college and those who have not switched vocations. As for career inference, "security and smoothness" and "support and suggestions" mean more to those college students and the participants who have changed their vocations. Finally, among the students of dance performance group, the career switchers and college students think it important to be "qualified and happy", but those who have never changed their vocations reveal the opposite result. According to the findings presented above, it is suggested that schools, teachers, students and relevant authorities should combine dance professional knowledge with career guidance, and help dancers have better career development. Hopefully this study will provide valuable implications for the improvement of dance education and future researchers.

Due to a series of actively promotions of government’s tourism policy, the scale of Taiwanese tourism industries had been improved significantly in recent years. Relatively, there was a great growth in the demand of professional personnel in service industries. For such reasons, schools played an important role to train its students to be a professional. The number of enrollment of tourism related departments was increasing, but the lack of information and insufficient basic knowledge caused students didn’t join in the hospitality tourism industries contrarily. It made brain drain and dilapidated educational resources. This study was to investigate the influence of vocational awareness and vocation choice factors to occupational selection tendency, which would be a reference in the related fields of education and employment counseling to the government, schools and industries. There were 346 questionnaires administered to the graduates of departments of tourism, hospitality and leisure in 10 universities. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics analysis, t-test analysis, one-way ANOVA analysis, correlation analysis, and enter multiple regression analysis. The results of study were shown as follows: 1.There was significantly difference in tourism related department students’ father eductional degree and vocations to voctional awareness 2.There was significantly difference in tourism related department students’ regions of schools, mother eductional degree and vocations to occupational selection tendency. 3.There was significantly difference in tourism related department students’ father eductional degree to occupational selection tendency. 4.There was positive correlation between students with the awareness of vocational and occupational selection tendency. Higher awareness of vocational related higher level of students choosing such industries. 5.The vocation choice factors of students and their occupational choice tendency achieved partially positive correlation. 6.The vocational awareness and vocation choice factors of students caused positive effect to occupational selection tendency.

The purpose of this study was to discuss the textbook selection in the vocational high schools. The four objectives of this study were : (1) to discuss the practical conditions of execution of selection and use of textbook for vocational high schools; (2) to discuss the implementation effect of selection of textbooks for vocational high schools; (3)to discuss the encountered problems and cooperating measures of selection of textbooks for vocational high schools; (4) based on the results acquired from the above study, put forward concrete proposals that can be used as the reference for education competent authorities to improve the stipulations on selection of textbooks for vocational high schools and for the execution by schools. This study used questionnaire investigation research method and is carried out by using the conveners of respective subject teaching seminars in all public and private vocational high schools in Taiwan during the 2003 academic year period as the focus group, drawing samples on different levels and arranging them according to the kinds of school and education authority responsible. 50 schools were chosen and a total of 403 questionnaires have been sent out for investigation and study. The 350 effective questionnaire were collected and the usability was 86.8%. The statistics method were frequency distribution, percentage, mean, Chi-square test, t-test, one factor ANOVA, and Scheffe’s comparisons, etc. Based on the results of questionnaire investigation, this study has reached the following conclusions: 1. Regarding organization selection: (1)The teaching seminar shall choose textbooks by way of group discussion. (2)The condition of operation and organization of choosing of textbooks for vocational high schools is fine, on the whole. (3)There are distinct differences in opinions on the good condition of operation and organization of choosing of textbooks for vocational high schools on the whole because of the variety of schools, different authorities responsible for education and high educational qualifications. 2. Regarding the selection procedure: (1)The fact that 20 percent of vocational high schools have not drawn up a written selection procedure shall be improved upon. (2)The selection procedure whereby the teaching seminar decides to send to the president for permission after teachers have read and discussed the sample textbooks has been adopted by most vocational high schools. (3)The rationality of the selection procedure has been recognized and accepted by the teachers. (4)There are distinct different opinions on the rationality of the selection procedure due to the variety of schools and educational qualifications. (5)There are distinct differences in the selection procedure of textbooks for vocational high schools on the whole because of different kinds of schools and of education competent authorities. 3. Regarding the standards and specifications: (1)The establishment and application of selection standards and specifications shall be improved. (2)The three selection standards and specifications of content and organization, physical property and teaching design have been considered and adopted by most of vocational high schools. (3)The teachers have basically agreed to the propriety of selection standards and specifications. (4)The level of students, physical property of textbooks and convenience of teaching are the main factors considered by most teachers when choosing textbook editions. (5)There are distinct differences in opinion on the propriety of selection standards and specifications because of a variety of schools and educational qualifications. 4. Regarding effect of implementation: (1)Most of the teachers consider that selection of textbooks must be suitable to the levels of students, respect for teacher’s disciplinary independence and improvement of quality of teaching are the positive effects produced by the selection of textbooks. (2)Most of teachers consider that increase in students’ class loads and great increases in the price of textbooks are the negative problems caused by the selection of textbooks. (3)There are distinct differences in opinions on the positive effect produced by the selection of textbooks because of different kinds of schools. 5. Regarding the encountered problems and cooperating measures: (1)The insufficiency of editions of textbooks is the biggest problem for teachers in selecting textbooks. (2)Most teachers hope that educational administration departments give assistance to collect various editions of textbooks and relevant auxiliary textbooks and teaching aids. Based on the results in the study, several suggestions are proposed.

The aim of the research is to explore the influential factors of the department selection. A case of private vocational high school. Conducting research on four different backgrounds, the results are: I. Different backgrounds affecting the selection of student departments. They all considerthe most important is "Teaching Quality". The "curriculum and teaching factor" is the most significant among the impact factors of the private high school students in their school choosing. II. In the item of "Course Design", both students and parents believe that "the richness of the practical curriculum" is the most important. The teacher thinks that "the content of the course can meet student needs" is the most important. III. In the item of "Quality of Teaching", students think that "the fairness of teachers' scores is the most important". The teacher thinks that "professional knowledge of teachers" is very important; but parents think that "the performance of teachers in class management" is more important. IV. The goal of study is aiming at the documentary research of the key facts which have been influenced the choice of textbook by senior high and professional school teachers through the application of the method of analytic hierarchy process (AHP). To choose the evaluation standard through the hierarchy structure which is built by AHP. In the first place, to calculate the priority value of fact hierarchy. Then under the assessment standard to evaluate the comparison matrix in pairs. Finally, summarizing the comparison via the wholly relative advantage priority in order to reach the goal of selecting the critical facts. By way of another consistent assessment for the purpose of researching if the fact standard is available between the tolerance of deviation value. The resulting study to be found as follows: 1. Under the consideration of products, the content of textbook is the prime thought by teachers; under the consideration of prices, the discount fact is the main selection; under the consideration of promotions, the seminar is the priority, under the consideration of services, the peripheral of products is the major to care about. 2. Concerning the whole facts, the textbook content, brand image, brand royalty and author are ranked as the front four items by teachers which are all under the consideration of products. The main reason is that the selection of textbook by teacher is not influenced by others and the teacher is mainly concerned about the context of products which is regarded as the influence of their teaching evaluation and reputation . Under the circumstance, their priority gives undue emphasis to the above four standard items under the consideration of products.

A Study on the Special Education Class of the Vocational High Schools Teacher Selection Assessment in Kaohsiung Area Summary Interviewing and documentary research methods are applied to study the teacher selection and assessment system for the special education classes of the vocational high schools in Kaohsiung area. The tool of interviewing research is constructed by interviewing the teachers, staffs, and directors in the special education departments of 12 schools. The documentary research is implemented by (1) analyzing the teaching subjects and the amount of students, classes, and teachers in 12 schools, (2) studying teacher selection laws, (3) investigating current teacher selection processes. Wrapping up the whole research, 8 circumstances present in current teacher selection and assessment system are as follows. (1) The percentage of qualified teachers with special education certification is small in both public and private schools. Teachers in the special education department need to improve specialty in some vocational fields. (2) Some schools lack of comprehensible teacher selection policies. (3) The objective of teacher selection processes for some schools is skeptical occasionally. (4) The teacher selection processes for special education class and normal education class are too similar. (5) The teacher selection processes in public schools are more thorough than in private schools. (6) The application form for teacher selection limits the acquirement of qualified teachers with both special education certification and specialty in some professional fields. (7) Teacher selection processes lack of specific goals. Teachers’ specialty and attitude need to be included in the evaluative criterions. (8) Albeit the efficiency of current teacher selection system for the special education classes of the vocational high schools is generally affirmed, junior teachers still need to improve the specialty, the compliance of school policies, and the knowledge of special education laws. Texto completoAs tertiary institutions, technikons are in the fortunate position that there is a demand for their educational programmes among prospective students, and an equally positive demand for technikon diplomates from the relevant industries who require skilled manpower. Unfortunately resources are limited and thus technikons cannot admit all the applicants who apply for the various courses. For this reason it has become essential to select only those candidates who are most likely to complete the educational training programmes, and fit successfully into the job market. When the value and nature of technikon education are compared to those of a university education, it seems appropriate that their respective students should possess different qualities and abilities, which should be accommodated in the selection criteria governing enrolment.

The purpose of this study aims at applying fuzzy expert systems to education. A remedial learning material selection system is proposed for a digital logic course based on a fuzzy expert system. Two learning concepts of the course have been used in the proposed system: number systems and combinational logic. We conducted an experiment to validate the success of the proposed system where eighty-eight students who studied a computer-related program at a vocational high school in Taiwan participated the experiment. The participating students came from three different types of classes. Two tests, a pre-test and a post-test were conducted to validate the performance of the proposed system. The fuzzy expert system determined the numbers of the redeeming materials units for the two concepts according to the scores of the pre-test. Based on the numbers specified by the fuzzy expert system, each student then received personalized redeeming learning materials by randomly selecting learning units from a repository. After reading the redeeming learning materials, the students took the post-test. To fairly compare the results of the pre-test and post-test, the questions of the two tests were designed to be equal difficulty. The experimental results reveal that the students made significant progresses after studying the redeeming learning material. The results also show that the proposed system is good for both high-score students and low-score students. In addition, it is good for different types of classes as well.

The purpose of this study is to explore whether the participation in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, in terms of sex and characteristics for sexual roles has had any difference for the variables of Differentiation, Integration, Conflict And Consistence For Evaluation regarding the Vocational Construct System﹙VCS﹚. And a quantitative research method for survey is applied in this study with a total of 603 3rd grade students from the public senior high schools in Tainan targeting 277 boy students and 306 girl students. A "Inventory for the Characteristics of Sexual Role'''' and a "Career Grid'''' are executed with the subjects divided into 4 groups including Androgyny, Masculinity, Femininity and Undifferentiated. And after gathering the data for the VCS, a data analysis has been performed in terms of 3 factors with one-way ANOVA based on the data from survey and hereby comes the result: The holistic differences of the 3rd grade students in the Differentiation of the VCS in terms of whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. 1. There is no cross correlation coefficient among the 3 factors whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. And there is no correlation coefficient between any two of these factors including those whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. 2. A 2-factor correlation coefficient has been found between the factors of whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities and sex, and which is further found: (1) For boys, 3rd grade students at senior high schools, those who have never participated in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities have higher scores than those participating in the Selection on the differentiation of the VCS. (2) For boys, 3rd grade students at senior high schools, those who have never participated in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities have higher scores than 3rd grade girl students who have never participated in the Selection on the differentiation of the VCS. 3. In terms of the main effects of whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities and sex, there is no difference between those 3rd grade students who have participated and who have never participated the Selection, which is also found between those 3rd grade boys and girls. 4. As for the main effects of the characteristic of sexual roles, the differences among groups of Androgyny, Masculinity, Femininity and Undifferentiated have reached a significant level for examination, and here comes our further discovery: (1) Differentiation of the VCS about Androgyny is higher than about Masculinity. (2) Differentiation of the VCS about Androgyny is higher than about Undifferentiated. The holistic differences of the 3rd grade students in the Integration of the VCS in terms of whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. 1. There is no cross correlation coefficient among the 3 factors whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. 2. There is no correlation coefficient between any 2 factors of these 3:whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. 3. There is no significant difference between those 3rd grade students who have participated and who have not participated ; between 3rd grade boy students and 3rd grade girl students across the characterics of sexual roles in terms of Androgyny, Masculinity, Femininity and Undifferentiated. The holistic differences of the 3rd grade students in the Conflict of the VCS in terms of whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. 1.There is no cross correlation coefficient among the 3 factors whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. 2.There is no correlation coefficient between any 2 factors of these 3:whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. 3.There is no significant difference between those 3rd grade students who have participated and who have not participated ; between 3rd grade boy students and 3rd grade girl students across the characterics of sexual roles in terms of Androgyny, Masculinity, Femininity and Undifferentiated. The holistic differences of the 3rd grade students in the Consistence for Evaluation of the VCS in terms of whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. There exists a three-factor cross correlation coefficient among whether participating in the Selection for Recommendation to Universities, sex and characteristics of sexual roles. And it furthers the discovery that:the consistence for evaluation of the VCS in terms of the girls who are Femininity and who have participated in the Selection is higher than those girls who are Femininity but have never participated in the Selection. Finally, according the result of this research, it is further discussed and suggestions supplied in order to provide references for career consulting practices and follow-up studies.
