Resumen
Changes in land use have been detrimental to natural ecosystems. In Argentina, the Espinal ecoregion is one of the most affected, with only a few relics remaining. The province of Córdoba is one of the largest agricultural producers, which led to the modification of natural ecosystems, losing the environmental services they provide. This happens in the city of Villa María and especially in its peri-urban territory. The identification and analysis of the fragmentation of the ecosystem structures in this peri-urban area provide a different way of identifying the new ecosystem structures to be considered in the territorial planning of medium or small cities. Six ecosystemic structures (patches) were identified: Residual Ecosystems, Neoecosystems, Neosols, Neohumedales, Surface Runoff Neoredes, and Geophagy. It's processing through a Geographic Information System allowed mapping the survey results and identifying the environmental services that they provide. The fieldwork allowed to show the richness and diversity present; however, their distance and size denote the vulnerability of the patches. The importance of the structures in terms of the provision of services demands the need to consolidate political strategies in municipal management aimed at protecting the patches.

Resumen
Frogeye leaf spot of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) caused by Cercospora sojina Hara was reported to be severe from 1998 to 1999 in northwest Argentina (2). Although the disease was detected at low prevalence (5 to 25%), incidence, and severity in the Pampean Region from 2005 to 2008, no severe outbreaks have been recorded in the provinces of Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Buenos Aires. During the 2008–2009 growing season, disease spread rapidly throughout most soybean-growing areas of the Pampean Region. Disease was observed on almost all varieties of maturity group (MG) III, IV, and V. Symptoms on leaves were circular, reddish brown-to-gray spots (1 to 6 mm) and bordered by typical, narrow, reddish purple margins. Morphology of the fungi was examined on infected tissues. Conidiophores were light-to-dark brown, fasciculate, geniculate, and measured 110 to 203 μm long. Conidia were 1 to 9 septate, hyaline, elongate to fusiform, and measured 26 to 111 (47.3 ± 14.7) × 5.2 to 7.4 μm (6.1 ± 0.7). Pathogenicity tests were conducted on seedlings of a susceptible cultivar by spraying leaves of each of 80 plants at the V3 growth stage with 18 ml of a conidial suspension (3 × 104 conidia/ml) with a hand-held atomizer. Plants were covered with plastic bags and placed in a greenhouse at 28 to 30°C for 48 h. The plastic bags were removed and plants were maintained in high humidity at the same temperature. The same number of noninoculated plants was used as controls. After 10 to 12 days, all inoculated plants showed typical symptoms. Koch's postulates were fulfilled by isolating C. sojina from inoculated plants. Control plants remained healthy. Foliar lesions and morphological characteristics of the pathogen were consistent with C. sojina (1). Disease assessments were made for the middle and upper canopy from 15 arbitrarily collected plants. Soybean plants were in growth stages between R3 and R5 during the survey. Incidence (percentage of plants affected) and severity (percentage of leaf area affected with lesions) were visually estimated from each of the 30 soybean-production fields located in Monte Cristo, Alta Gracia, Jesús María, W. Escalante, Monte Buey, (10 fields, Córdoba Province), Venado Tuerto, Villa Cañás, Cristophersen, María Teresa, (12 fields, Santa Fe Province), Pergamino, Rojas, and Salto (8 fields, Buenos Aires Province). Incidence was 100% in all fields from Córdoba and Santa Fe. Incidence in Buenos Aires was 0 to 100%. Highest severity levels were quantified from fields in Córdoba (severity of 30 to 60%). Lesions also developed on stems and pods. In samples from Buenos Aires, severity levels were ≤10% in the eight soybean fields. Number of lesions per leaflet was recorded from central leaflets in samples from Monte Cristo, Alta Gracia, Venado Tuerto, and María Teresa with 20 to 55 typical lesions per leaflet. Since the disease was always more important in northwest Argentina, genetic resistance is more commonly available in varieties of MG VII to VIII, so most of the varieties of MG III, IV, and V frequently planted in Pampean Region are susceptible. This fact in combination with rainfall, warm temperatures, and high relative humidity in no-till fields during this summer have encouraged the severe outbreak of frogeye leaf spot, especially in the province of Córdoba and in some regions of Santa Fe. Resumen
BackgroundThe term juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) represents a heterogeneous group of disorders, all manifesting joint inflammation, but with different clinical phenotypes, disease course, and outcomes [1,2]. In Argentina, information about patients with JIA is scarce. In our country, different factors such as the diversity of sociodemographic conditions and the disparities in the access to health care, could influence the JIA subtypes prevalence and prognosis of these patients.ObjectivesDescribe the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of patients with different subtypes of JIA.MethodsDescriptive, retrospective, chart review and multicenter study. Patients were included with a diagnosis of JIA, according to ILAR criteria (2001) and onset of symptoms ≤ 16 years, diagnosis within the last 3 years and with at least 12 months of follow-up since diagnosis by the same physician or treating team. Sociodemographic variables, clinical variables prior to diagnosis by the pediatric rheumatologist, time to specialist consultation, treatments prior to diagnosis and variables at the time of diagnosis by the specialist were recorded: JIA subtype; serological, articular, ocular, and systemic manifestations; associated complications and treatments given.Results320 patients from 17 specialized care centers in Argentina (11 public and 6 private) were included. The mean age at symptom onset was 6.9 years (SD 4.09) and 65.6% of the patients were girls. 94.4% of the patients were in school according to their chronological age. 37.2% and 36.9% of the patients belonged to lower-middle socio-economic strata respectively as measured by the Graffar scale. 96.9% had urban residence and the place of residence in decreasing order were: Province of Buenos Aires, Gran Buenos Aires, CABA, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Jujuy; Salta, Tucumán, Entre Ríos, Catamarca, Chubut, Río Negro, Santiago del Estero, San Juan, Formosa, Chaco, La Pampa, La Rioja, Mendoza, Neuquén and Santa Cruz. 49.1% had private medical insurance and 41.6% public. The mean education (in years) of the parents was 13.6 years (SD 4.16). 54.5% of the cases the first professional visited was the orthopedist. 57.% of patients had received previous treatment: 90.9% non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and 5.11% corticosteroids. At diagnosis, JIA subtypes were represented by persistent oligoarthritis (37.8%); polyarthritis FR -(20%); systemic (15%); polyarthritis FR +(12.1%); enthesis-related (6.8%); extended oligoarthritis (2.5%); psoriatic (1.8%) and undifferentiated (0.3%). The median delay by subtype was persistent oligoarthritis (3.00[2.00,4.50]); polyarthritis FR -(3.00[2.00,6.00]); systemic (1.00[100,2.00]); polyarthritis FR +(3. 00 [2.00,6.00]); enthesis-related (7.00 [3.25,12.0]); extended oligoarthritis (3.5 [1.00,4.25]); psoriatic (11.5 [4.75,13.8]) and undifferentiated (1.00 [1.00,1.00]). Articular and serological manifestations were the most frequent. Ocular involvement (12.5%) was more frequent in the oligoarticular subtype. Macrophage activation syndrome was observed in the systemic subtype (2%) and FR - polyarthritis (1.5%). The most used treatments were NSAIDs, cDMARDs, with methotrexate being the first choice. Patients belonging to the systemic (18.7%) and FR+ polyarthritis (5.0%) subtypes were treated with cDMARDs (Anti TNF and IL6 inhibitors).ConclusionThis is the first national multicenter study of patients with JIA, and the results provide data that should be prioritized, such as shortening the time to specialist consultation. The comprehensive approach to children with JIA should be coordinated by pediatric rheumatologists and supported by a multi- and interdisciplinary team.

The authors intend to reflect on the “metamorphosis of work” in the dairy farms of the Villa María Basin (Córdoba, Argentina) as a consequence of the robotization and automation of production. In this sense, they emphasize the changes in the “politics of the senses” that update the ways of touching and looking at the dairy farms, simultaneously updating the demands of capital for the use of labor force and introducing new mechanisms of control and surveillance. The proposed approach recovers testimonies from the protagonists of the “metamorphosis” indicated to reflect on the policy of changes in capitalism.
