Texto completoABSTRACT: PERSONALITY AND PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION INTRODUCTION: psychiatric rehabilitation in Therapeutic Communities is aimed to let in care patients regain an adequate relational and occupational functionality, allowing their social reintegration. However, there are no reports in the literature concerning the predisposition to participate to the activities that have been previously agreed upon, according to patients’ individual care plans. Therefore, the relationship between personality traits of borderline inpatients of the Therapeutic Community “Villa Ratti”, assessed using MMPI-2, and percent of interventions performed, is investigated. METHODS: 62 patients (27 Men, 35 Women, mean age=28, sd=6,6) have performed a total of 14540 interventions, comprising 24 categories, between January 2009 and December 2010. MMPI-2 scores and school degree were available only for 50 patients (20 M, 30 W). 4 women of them were clearly outliers because of their extremely low scores in all scales. For the remaining 46 patients (20 M, 26 W), correlations and multiple regressions were analyzed, in order to evaluate predictive values of mmpi 2 scores on the percentiles of interventions. RESULTS: some mmpi-2 scales were significantly correlated with 8 out of 24 percent interventions. Moreover, some scales were significantly predictive, with R2 values spanning the range 0,1 - 0,4. However, not all scales resulted to be predictive: Lie (L), Hypochondria (Hs) and Psychopathic Deviate (Pd) do not exert significant effects onto the attendance to activities. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, significant relationships between some of the mmpi-2 scores and percentiles of interventions performed, were found. These results give an indication of which aspects of personality can affect the tendency of patients to partecipate in specific activities, independently of what had been previously decided in the Therapeuthic-Rehabilitative Project. The limits of this approach and the future potential developments are discussed.

Texto completoIs there an actual possibility, for Italy, to develop an educational dual system like the German one? Would this possibility be economically affordable? Could it be positively welcomed by Italian schools and VET institutions? What pedagogical basis on? And what about the legal ones? Collected and reviewed a valuable amount of literary contributions, this essay tries to answer the above questions, with particular regard about the Italian productive and educational systems, characterized by small and medium enterprises and, on the educational side, by a quite deep tendency to avoid contacts between schools and companies. The literature review focuses on three aspects. First, the economic advantages in implementing systems of dual education, particularly in the legal framework of the apprenticeship and in small and medium businesses. Second, the points of view of legal and pedagogical researches on the issues of: school-and-work integrated education, dual systems, apprenticeship, and school-and-work alternating training, presented together with statistical studies about the diffusion of such working-educational schemes in Italy. Third, the process of assessing and validating skills developed in the mentioned contexts. Within the body of the essay, then, the three main results of the examined studies are presented. First, there is no evidence against a successful implementation of a dual educational system in Italy; contrariwise, it would be a favorable opportunity for companies, youth, educational institutions, and the social texture in general. Second, the Italian regulation allows a fully and properly structured activation of dual educational system routes. Furthermore, considering the reviewed pedagogical studies, the literature and the debate seems mature enough to be able to advise how to orientate formative plans and programs, taking into particular account the – not always unjustified – critical voices and the replies about the most relevant issues. Third, there is the strong possibility that a properly functioning process of skills assessment and validation can be the corner stone of such dual educational system courses, synthesizing the acquisition of knowledge and abilities to be spent both in the education system and in the labor market. One last chapter, finally, is devoted to the presentation of a case study: the dual educational system experimented by the Fondazione A. Badoni of Lecco (Lombardy, Italy), which, exploiting also the legal framework of the newly reformed apprenticeship for school students, allows its participants to obtain a VET diploma working two or three days a week in manufacturing companies and attending a VET school for the rest of the week.

Texto completoNowadays, the financial guarantees system of insurance market is being interested by a Community reform process (Solvency II project). Even if the current hypothesis are far to be definitive, the present guidelines state that the Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) related to Interest Rate Risk (IRR) has to be quantified assuming deterministic shocks to the yield curve. The aim of the thesis is to improve the assessment of SCR connected to IRR, calculating interest rates according to Cox, Ingersoll and Ross (cir) stochastic model. Simulations are developed on the asset liability equilibria of a theoretical life insurance company, in order to better appreciate the SCR algebra sensitivity to changes in CIR model parameters.

Texto completoEvery year in Europe million tons of food are thrown away. An estimation published by the European Commission states that, in the 27 Member States, 89 million tons of food, or 179 kg per capita, are discarded. Waste occurs all along food supply chain; reducing food waste has thus become one of the priorities on the European agenda. The research focuses on a case study, Last Minute Market, a project of recovery of food waste. The impact of this project from an economical and environmental point of view has already been calculated. What is going to be analyzed is the impact of this initiative on the community and specifically on social capital, defined as "the set of norms and networks that enable collective action". The objective of the work is to carry out an analysis on social capital dimensions through interviews to the different stakeholders involved in Last Minute Market project. The results of the analysis will be compared to the results of an analysis made in 2009 on the same project in order to check if it has produced a growth on social capital dimensions. Than, in order to summarize the influence of the project on social capital in a synthetic index, is calculated what we can called the index of “reliability of the project” (defined in statistics, the “ability of a product, a system or a service to provide the performance required, for a certain period of time under predetermined conditions”).

Texto completoCan internet logic scheme be used as a basis to describe public policies evolution on renewable energies production and sharing in urban areas all over the world? The research project analyses the two networks (internet and energetic grids) architectures in actual and future urban areas. This analysis is connected with present and future forecasts energy productions from traditional fuels and from renewable sources. Theoretical analysis is conducted following a double conceptual pathway: - societal networks (Manuel Castells theory) and urban areas evolution (Saskia Sassen and Mike Davis) in order to picture the evolution of cities and towns in modern economies and in developing countries (Chapters 2 and 5); - Material and Energy Flow Analysis (approach by Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy) applied to renewable energy (Chapters 3 and 4) In Chapter 6 case studies are exposed on the deep cleavage between two different worlds: innovative, rich towns on a side and the landfills cities, slums on the other side. In the last part hypothesis and thesis are put together and open questions are explained (Chapter 7).
