We prove that for a large and important class of C¹ twist maps of the torus periodic and quasi-periodic orbits of a new type exist, provided that there are no rotational invariant circles (R.I.C's). These orbits have a non-zero "vertical rotation number'' (V.R.N.), in contrast to what happens to Birkhoff periodic orbits and Aubry-Mather sets. The V.R.N. is rational for a periodic orbit and irrational for a quasi-periodic. We also prove that the existence of an orbit with a V.R.N = a > 0, implies the existence of orbits with V.R.N = b, for all 0 < b < a. And as a consequence of the previous results we get that a twist map of the torus with no R.I.C's has positive topological entropy, which is a very classical result. In the end of the paper we present some applications and examples, like the Standard map, such that our results apply.

AbstractThis report introduces a new closure technique for the management of intraoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage during endoscopic endonasal surgery. The procedure is based on the combination of a traditional autologous tissue flap with a heterologous fibrin graft (TachoSil). We performed a retrospective analysis on 121 patients with pituitary adenomas treated in our center by the senior neurosurgeon (author V.R.B) in the previous 4 years. Only one patient (0.8%) developed a CSF leakage and no adverse events were found related to the use of TachoSil. Compared with other techniques used previously, sellar diaphragm reconstruction with TachoSil seems to be an effective and inexpensive alternative.

A study was conducted on the content of chemical elements in the epiphytic moss of Pylaisia polyantha (Hedw.) V.S.G. The moss samples were taken from 6 background areas of the West Siberian region, as well as in the city of Tomsk. The content of chemical elements is determined using neutron activation analysis. The hypothesis about the normal/log-normal distribution of the concentrations of chemical elements was tested using the χ2 criterion; asymmetry and kurtosis were used for samples less than 20. When the hypothesis is confirmed, the background concentrations of chemical elements are defined as mean values ±2σ. The concentrations of each background area are subject to the normal distribution law. For the overwhelming number of elements, the anthropogenic background of the city of Tomsk is 2 times or more natural.

Peutz Jeghers, uma doença autossômica dominante, que apresenta polipose e pigmentação da pele, e uma chance de até 93% de câncer. Homens e mulheres são igualmente afetados, sem preferência racial, é considerada uma doença rara. O diagnóstico é clínico, apoiado por um teste genético. Haì variabilidade da sintomatologia, desde leves à graves com hospitalizações e cirurgia. Objetivo: Relatar um caso enfatizar a importância da valorização da queixa do paciente, capaz de levar a um diagnóstico precoce e instituir devido acompanhamento e tratamento. Relato de Caso: V.R.M, 14 anos, feminina, no ambulatório de Dermatologia tinha queixa de lesões hiperpigmentadas em lábios inferiores que a atrapalhava socialmente. A mãe relata ter sua primeira memória sobre as manchas antes dos 2 anos de idade. Negava pessoas na família com lesões semelhantes ou qualquer outro sintoma clínico relacionado. Foi encaminhada ao gastrenterologia, com exame físico sem alteração. Sendo solicitado uma endoscopia digestiva alta e colonoscopia, que tiveram como resultado: múltiplos pólipos sésseis de microscopia hamartomatosa do tipo Peutz Jeghers com ausência de sinais de malignidade. A paciente foi orientada ao acompanhamento clínico, repetindo esses exames periodicamente. Conclusão: Esse é um caso raro, não só pela sua síndrome polipoide familiar em si, mas também pela sua apresentação ser exclusivamente dermatológica. As manifestações clínicas da Síndrome de Peutz Jeghers costumam ser mais específicas e contundentes, assim como a presença de história familiar. Apresenta uma lesão dermatológica capaz de apontar futuras possíveis neoplasias, sendo instiuido o devido tratamento.

Depuis plus de cinquante ans, différentes études ont révélé que les personnes souffrant d’obésité morbide possédaient une image du corps et une image de soi dépréciée. L’objectif de notre recherche est d’observer l’évolution de cette image de soi chez des personnes perdant rapidement du poids suite à une gastroplastie en analysant les sept différentes variables qui constituent le cluster perception de soi du Système Intégré d’Exner. Pour ce faire, nous avons administré le Rorschach à trois reprises auprès de patients sollicitant une gastroplastie: le premier testing a eu lieu lors de leur hospitalisation, la veille de leur opération; les deuxièmes et troisièmes testings ont eu lieu après une période de trois et dix mois, le plus souvent au domicile du patient ou lors d’une visite de contrôle chez le chirurgien. Notre population se compose de 30 patients âgés de 20 à 54 ans (avec une moyenne de 33 ans et 6 mois) et dont le poids variait de 94 à 144 kilogrammes (avec une moyenne de 115,7 kilogrammes) avant leur opération. L’échantillon observé présente un nombre élevé et grandissant d’ambiéquaux (passant de 56% à 73%) et un faible pourcentage d’extratensifs (1%) disparaissant en 10 mois. De plus 4 sujets au style indéterminé (M = 0) se révèlent être des ambiéquaux en perdant du poids comme si leur activité idéationnelle se trouvait “débloquée” un fois que l’obésité tend à disparaître. Le pourcentage de personnes présentant un DEPI positif passe de 10% à 23% en dix mois. L’hypothèse est que l’obésité possédait une valeur défensive qui disparaît parallèlement à la perte de poids expliquant cette augmentation de sujets au DEPI positif. Enfin, 60% de la population présentent un CDI positif toujours après dix mois d’amaigrissement. L’hypothèse est que des difficultés sociales peuvent entraîner une obésité par un processus de régression orale. Lorsque l’obésité et les comportements de nourrissage disparaissent, les difficultés sociales restent présentes. La centration sur soi est négative avant l’opération. La qualité de cet intérêt pour soi peut être améliorée selon certains facteurs: l’histoire de leur obésité, le type d’opération et le suivi postopératoire. (a) Plus l’obésité est ancienne, plus l’image de soi s’en trouve affectée; par ailleurs, les sujets ayant développé une obésité réactionnelle présente une composante narcissique importante. (b) La cicatrice que laisse l’opération V.B.G. (vertical banded gastroplasty) est un pôle de centration sur soi qui permet au sujet de se focaliser sur son corps. (c) L’accompagnement postopératoire facilite l’assimilation de la métamorphose corporelle et valorise l’image de soi. Il semble que l’on puisse retenir l’hypothèse selon laquelle la gastroplastie entraîne des modification de l’image du corps et de l’image de soi chez des personnes sévèrement obèses.

Abstract Sarcomas are rare cancers arising in soft tissue and bone. They are difficult to diagnose and treat, with 38-48% mortality for this often young age group. It is now generally accepted that molecular changes in cancer open avenues for personalized medicine. However, to achieve this for sarcoma there are several challenges, as representative model systems are scarce. Moreover, sarcomas are heterogeneous and >70 sarcoma types are recognized. A simple dichotomy based on molecular pathways of simple versus complex genomics is often used as a conceptual framework. My group has used mesenchymal stem cells to generate a model for complex genome sarcomas such as osteosarcoma. Murine and canine mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can be used to model spontaneous malignant transformation towards sarcomas with complex genomics. These MSCs have an abnormal karyotype, many structural variants and point mutations at whole genome sequencing analysis, and form sarcomas (osteosarcoma, undifferentiated pleomorphic and spindle cell sarcoma) after injection into mice. Cross-species analysis reveals that p53 loss is an early event in sarcomagenesis, and MSCs with a knockout in Trp53 transform earlier compared to wild-type MSCs. In addition, loss of p16Ink4a is shown to be a driver of osteosarcomagenesis: the majority of spontaneously transformed murine MSCs has alterations in p15Ink4b, p16Ink4a, or p19Arf and knockout of these genes in MSCs results in accelerated transformation. Of interest, osteosarcoma cells with defective p16INK4A are sensitive to the CDK4/CDK6 inhibitor Palbociclib, suggesting that a subset of osteosarcoma patients with intact Rb, but defective p16 or overexpression of CDK4 and/or CDK6 (in total 20-23%) might benefit from CDK4/CDK6 inhibition. Bone and soft tissue tumors with a simple genome often carry chromosomal translocations. We have generated a model for pseudomyogenic hemangioendothelioma (PHE), a rare locally aggressive vascular tumor. PHE has a tumor-specific t(7;19)(q22;q13) translocation resulting in a SERPINE1-FOSB fusion. We used CRISPR/Cas9 to generate this fusion in induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), which were subsequently differentiated into ECs (hiPSC-ECs) to address this. Comparison of parental with PHE hiPSC-ECs shows invasive growth in mice after transplantation, and transcriptome analysis identifies PI3K-Akt and MAPK signaling pathways as possible therapeutic targets. The modified hiPSC-ECs thus recapitulate functional features of PHE and demonstrate how these stem cell based translocation models can be used to understand tumorigenic mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets. This paper proposes a pure silica photonic crystal fiber (PCF), having its core infiltrated with olive oil, which allows achieving an ultra-flattened normal dispersion regime. As a result, the optimization processes allows us to achieve an ultra-flat normal dispersion in the range of over 682 nm within the wavelength range from 1446 to 2128 nm. Besides, the nonlinear coefficient of the selected PCF structure is extremely high (9.54 x 109 W-1.km-1 at 1550 nm). Titanium dioxide is one of the main products of chemical industry. Due to its optical properties, it is most widely used in the paint and varnish industry and the production of pigments. Its sensory, adsorption, optical, electrical, and catalytic properties are widely recognized as the objects of close attention of researchers [1]. Due to its high chemical inertness, lack of toxicity and low cost, titanium dioxide is increasingly used as a photocatalyst, while it has a number of significant disadvantages: low quantum efficiency of the process due to weak separation of the electron-hole pair, limited absorption spectrum in the ultraviolet region, which makes it impossible to use the energy of sunlight [2,3]. Scientists in all leading countries of the world are engaged in solving these problems. It is known that nanosized TiO2 particles (<50 nm) have the highest photocatalytic activity; therefore, the preparation of TiO2 nanoparticles is one of the ways to reduce the degree of charge recombination and increase the active surface area of the oxide [4]. We propose to use a combined electrochemical-pyrolytic method of nanotube synthesis. This method will allow one to create a porous developed surface of the matrix for electrodeposition of catalytic layers of platinum and palladium; and their subsequent heat treatment at different partial pressures of oxygen will allow one to design composites with different composition. The high number of cationic vacancies in the matrix and the deficiency of oxygen ions will significantly increase the mobility of platinum and palladium atoms during heat treatment, and the resulting composite will have practically metal conductivity, high catalytic activity, selectivity and extended service life. Naked Ti/TiO2 contain a significant amount of X-ray amorphous compounds on the surface, which are most likely hydrated titanium oxides. The main crystalline phase is titanium dioxide in the allotropic anatase form. Metallic titanium is present on the surface in trace amounts. Thermal treatment of this material at a temperature of 500 ºC for 3 hours in an air atmosphere leads to an increase in the proportion of the crystalline phase. The content of metallic titanium increases significantly, reaching about a third. A partial electrochemical reduction of nanotubes allows one to obtain more electrically conductive titanium suboxides. After cathodic reduction of nanotubes for one hour, a galvanic coating with metallic platinum is uniformly deposited on the surface of the material. Thermal treated Ti/TiO2 nanotubes is an n-type semiconductor with a flat-band potential equal to –0.589 V and a carrier concentration of 6×1020 cm-3. Such a high concentration of carriers is obviously due to the small thickness of the oxide film and its nonstoichiometry, as a result of which the surface is not very depleted in electrons, since titanium metal acts as their donor. An original technique was developed for the deposition of platinized Ti/TiO2 nanotubes, including the stage of thermal treatment of the coating in an air atmosphere. It has been shown that the deposition of platinum on the previously reduced surface of nanotubes allows one to obtain composite coatings with a higher electrical conductivity, and the heat treatment of such a coating is characterized by the content of a larger fraction of TiO2, increased adhesion to the current collector, and an increase in the crystallinity of the coating. Aim: The aim of this study was to establish the validity and reliability of the Tswanatranslations of three pain scales.Design: This was a cross–sectional study to validate and test the reliability of threepain scales.Participants: One hundred subjects participated in the study. They were selectedfrom the back schools of five hospitals in the North -West Province of South A frica andfrom workers in these hospitals who were employed as kitchen workers, laundryworkers and cleaners.Method: Translation of the pain scales and the stages of cross-cultural adaptation were followed as recommended byBeaton et al (2000). Pain tolerance of the subjects was measured using a P.T.M. (pressure threshold meter). The painscales used were the V.A .S. (visual analogue scale) one (nought and ten only), the V.A .S. (visual analogue scale) two(nought through to ten), the W.B.F. (Wong-Baker Faces pain measure) and the V.R.S. (verbal rating scale). The V.R.S.used came in two forms. The first form was written on cue cards which the subjects arranged in order and the second form was the questionnaire version of the V.R.S.The subjects were interviewed and asked five questions relating to their back pain. Upon completion of the interviewthe pressure threshold of the painful area (back) was tested. Subjects then filled in the three pain scales, namely the (V.A .S. one, V.A .S. two, the V.R.S. and lastly the W.B.F. pain scale). Approximately a third of the sample (37) was retested the following day following the same procedure asdescribed above. Results: There was no correlation between the pressure threshold meter readings and the pain scale measurements. Conclusion: From the statistical analysis of the results, it became apparent that the subjects tested did not have anunderstanding of any of the three pain scales. Future research needs to be done in developing entirely different scales for peoples of low literacy and differentlanguage and cultural groups in South Africa.

The article highlights the results of studying the influence of sowing methods and herbicides on the yield and quality of chickpea crops of different varietal composition. The field research was conducted in the experimental field of the Mykolaiv State Agricultural Research Station of the Institute of Irrigated Agriculture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine in the Southern Steppe zone of Ukraine. The soil of the experimental field is represented by southern black soil, slightly saline, heavy loamy with a humus content of 2.9%. The soil acidity is close to neutral (pH 7.1). The following varieties were used for sowing chickpeas: Triumph (control), Budzhak and Pamyat. The variants of application of Pulsar® 40, CP (1 l/ha); Bazagran®, BP (2 l/ha); Pivot® 10, v.r.k. (0.8 l/ha) were studied when spraying crops in the phase of 2-5 leaves of the crop under different sowing methods (row by 15 cm, wide-row by 45 cm). The methods of sowing chickpea plants significantly affect the yield level of its seeds. So, on average, for all varieties, the maximum seed yield (2.46 t/ha) was obtained when sowing with a wide-row method of culture (average according to the herbicide background). The yield increase was 0.17 t/ha or 8% compared to the usual row sowing at 15 cm. The high yield of chickpeas in this variant is characterized, first of all, by the optimal spatial and quantitative placement of plants per unit area. Higher yields in the experiment were obtained for the mid-season variety Budzhak, and the wide-row sowing method guaranteed the maximum productivity of the crop in its variant. The maximum yield of chickpea was formed by using the variety Bujak when sowing in a wide-row method with a row spacing of 45 cm and treating the crops with the herbicide Pulsar® 40, KP (1 l/ha) in the phase of 2-5 leaves of the crop and amounted to 2.68 t/ha with a protein content of 30.8%.

DinB is an error prone DNA polymerase (DNAP) regulated by Escherichia coli's DNA damage response. This enzyme is well known for its translesion synthesis activity, i.e. the ability to bypass potentially lethal lesions on template DNA. Curiously, cells in which DinB is expressed from an inducible promoter in a high copy number plasmid die upon induction of DinB expression. This loss of survival is rescued by a single amino acid substitution (DinB(V7G)), which does not affect DNA synthesis activity in vitro or translesion synthesis activity in vivo. Therefore, DinB(V7G) separates DinB's known function as a translesion synthesis DNAP and an additional unknown role that causes cell death at high intracellular concentrations. We have evidence that suggests DinB plays a role in the resolution of replication‐transcription collisions (RTCs).RTCs occur because DNAP III replicates rapidly (~1000 nt/s) while RNA polymerase (RNAP) transcribes relatively slowly (40–80 nt/s), and these two processes use the same template DNA at the same time. RTCs are most prevalent in genes encoded on the lagging strand, where DNAP and RNAP collide head on, and on highly expressed genes, regardless of orientation, due to longer RNAP occupancy of the template. Previous studies have identified the transcription factors NusA and DksA as key players in RTC resolution.NusA and DinB interact in E. coli. The nusAts11 allele is thought to cause a lethal frequency of RTCs at 42°C due to failure of RNAP to disengage from the template. The amino acid substitution in nusAts11 occurs at the DinB‐NusA binding interface. DinB is known to suppress the nusAts11 phenotype when expressed from a low copy number plasmid under its own promoter. Notably, we find that the DinB(V7G) variant fails to suppress the lethality of the nusAts11 strain at 42°C, though the interacting surface is unlikely changed as the V7 residue is located in the DinB active site. This finding suggests that DinB has an activity related to RTCs that is not performed by the DinB(V7G) variant.Previous studies have shown that DksA prevents RNAP pausing, and thus RTCs, especially during amino acid starvation. Therefore, ΔdksA cells have a notably slower growth during amino acid starvation due to the stalling of RNAP and thus RTCs. We find that this phenotype is exacerbated by DinB expression from its own promoter in a low‐copy number plasmid. In the presence of the rpoB2 allele, which encodes an RNAP variant that pauses less frequently and rescues dksA growth reduction in minimal medium, we find that dinB expressed from the low copy number no longer worsens growth rate reduction, suggesting that the DinB effect on growth rate is dependent on RNAP pausing. Interestingly, we found that the DinB(V7G) variant, which suppresses the dinB overproduction phenotype, also rescues the ΔdksA/pDinB+ severe growth reduction phenotype.These data suggest that DinB plays a role in the RTCs. It is likely that the dinB overproduction phenotype is the result of an exacerbation of the RTCs as we uncovered at lower dinB concentrations in the ΔdksA strain.
