Texto completoThe natural grasslands are very important for the cattle livestock in the State of the Rio Grande so Sul, serving as the basis for feeding the animals for good part of the year. The knowlodge and description of the species that compose the native field are strategics to estimate of the use potential, foment the cattle livestock and mainly to preserve this natural patrimony. Thus, this study had the objective to characterize the genetic diversity and the agronomic performance of accesses of P. urvillei. The productive potential of P. urvillei was around 17tons/DM/ha to the André da Rocha, 16tons/DM/ha to Bagé and Eldorado do Sul ecotypes. These values of production are comparable to the productions reached by cultivated tropical forage species, showing that P. urvillei has an excellent productive potential. The morphogenic variable estimates were: filocron, with values of 161, 154 and 164 DD/leaf; leaf life span, with values of 411, 413 and 375 DD/leaf; final leaf length, with values of 24.7, 22.1 and 25.1 cm/leaf for the ecotypes André da Rocha, Bagé and Eldorado do Sul, respectively. The morphogenic variables indicate the necessity of more frequent defoliation management for the ecotype Bagé in relation to the other two. The analyses of genetic diversity indicated the formation of groups of similarity among the accesses by region. The analyses with RAPD markers presented an average similarity of 0.70, while the analyses with SSR markers presented an average similarity of 0.60. The similarity values of the groupings by region were of 0.81 by the RAPD and 0.72 by SSR markers. Both techniques were efficient in the estimate of the genetic diversity of the accesses.

Texto completoPhytochemical studies of glutinous exudate covering the buds et the leaf base of Gardenia urvillei Montrouz. et Gardenia oudiepe Vieill., Rubiaceaeous species endemic to New Caledonia, have led to the identification of twelve cycloartanes, nine seco-cycloartanes, eight dammaranes et seven flavonoids. Among these secondary metabolites, six cycloartanes, four seco-cycloartanes et two dammaranes are original natural products. Biological evaluations, such as search for anti-angiogenic properties or inhibition of tubulin polymerization, have shown promising results. In order to establish the structure-activity relationships for these activities, twenty-six analogs were semisynthesized from the major isolated compounds, oudiépone A, hydroxydammarénone II, santin, 5,7-dihydroxy-3,3’,4’,5’,6-pentamethoxyflavone et kaempferol

Texto completoThis study was designed to analyze the ecophysiological differences between two native grass species at Rio Grande do Sul in relation to the seasonal variation in climate and different leveis of nitrogen availability. Two experiments were performed, field and greenhouse with 2 species and 5 leveis of nitrogen (field), or 2 species and 3 leveis of nitrogen (greenhouse). Fotossaturated photosynthetic rates (A002) and leaf chlorophyll content were measured throughout the year and the relative growth rate during the summer on the field experiment. On the greenhouse we measured photosynthetic light and CO2 response curves. Seasonal photosynthetic responses are a mixture of the phenology of the species and the physiological responses to the climate's seasonal variation. The highest values of ACO2 per unit leaf area were attained during the summer, whereas the winter showed the Iowest values either on a leaf area or weight basis. P. urvillei showed the highest values of ACO2 throughout the year as well as the highest relative growth rate. These advantages are probably due to it's C4 metabolic pathway. Both species showed investments in carboxylation capacity with increases in nitrogen availability. 200 kgN ha-1 was satisfactory to improve photosynthesis on both species. 400 kg ha-1, however, caused a depression on the photosynthetic rates of P. montevidense.
