The use of graphic design in music has existed throughout history with different characteristics in each musical period. However, during the 20th century, new technologies brought a new perspective about using graphic design in music. UPIC system (created by composer Iannis Xenakis in 1978) represents an important evolution on electroacoustic music works due to that it’s easy to use and it creates an important link between music and visual aspects at the same time. UPIC system was very limited about synthesis, representation of the musical structure and the graphic design of the works. Nevertheless, Mexican composer and researcher Julio Estrada founds some solutions to design the different graphical aspects of the sound through his chronographic method. In fact, the graphical music representation shows important cognitive aspects about our perception of music. Thus, the use of the graph for analysis and composition can be perceived and designed differently for each individual. Objects of the research: The Jura river watershed (rivers: Akmena near Paakmenis, Jūra near Taurage, Šešuvis near Skirgaliai). Aim of the research: The influence of wetland drainage area on the Jura river watershed runoff. Objectives of the research: 1. To determine the influence of precipitation on the flow rate of rivulets belonging to the Jura river watershed. 2. To analyse the changes in the drained areas of the Jura subbasin. 3. To evaluate the change of dynamics in land drainage. 4. To evaluate changes in the Jura basin runoff in drained areas. Methods of the research: The following data (of 1951-2009) were used: 24 hours flow rate, annual amount of precipitation, average day and night temperature, areas of drained land. A graph of correlation between precipitation and flow rate, which shows a direct relation, was drawn. The graphs of flow rate koefficient variation were created. The findings of the research: 1. The average annual river flow rates and annual precipitation rates of the rivers: Akmena (at Paakmenys), Jura (at Taurage) and Šešuvis (at Skirgaliai) are closely related. 2. The highest rate of drainage intensity in 1995, the river Akmena 1.6. The minimum rate is the Jura drainage basin, near Taurangė - 1.2. Šešuvis basin the figure 1.27. 3. O tema abordado, SISTEMA DE UNIDADES PADRÃO ESCOLAR - UPEC, possui como objetivo a criação de unidades prediais escolares, projetadas para apoiar o ensino público primário e secundário. A principal característica onde se apoia todo o sistema, é sua flexibilidade. As unidades escolares são viabilizadas e construídas, a partir de um estudo de dimensionamento e classificação em função da demanda local, à época de sua implantação. Daí serem superadas em capacidade, em alguns casos, em curto espaço de tempo. O Sistema proposto permite o crescimento das edificações, habilitando-as para a ampliação do número de usuários existente. A transformação das edificações através da ampliação de suas instalações físicas faz-se de forma natural, sem prejuízo do aspecto formal e sem interromper as atividades escolares durante o período letivo, uma vez que não interfere de forma direta nos espaços existentes. Concebido no sistema estrutural metálico, dado à sua afinidade com os objetivos de nossa proposta, contempla principalmente os seguintes itens: • Flexibilidade • Baixo custo de implantação • Rapidez na execução da obra • Facilidade de transporte • Desmonte e locomoção com reaproveitamento • Possibilidade de industrialização. • Adaptabilidade ao terreno As unidades escolares, denominadas UPECs, classificam-se segundo o número de salas de aula, que pode variar de 4 a 16. Os crescimentos foram previstos caso a caso de acordo com a categoria de cada edificação. A viabilidade do sistema construtivo metálico foi analisada pela USIMINAS, que se posicionou de forma favorável ao projeto apresentado. ______________________________________________________________________________________________
ABSTRACT: This work aims at the designing of schools, proposed to the primary and secondary degree, sponsored by the government. The main characteristic of this system is its flexibility. The schools are designed and built according to previous researchs concerning its dimensions and classification according to its local conditions at time of implantation.In this case, they are likely to become surpassed in short time. The system allows the expansion of the building according to its new requirements, fulfilling the needs of the different categories concerning the number of classrooms, and is conceived in steel structures, so that the exchange of categories is achieved in a natural way, keeping the formal aspects and without interference in the school activities.The following itens are considered: • Flexibility • Low costs of implantation • Fast erection of building • Easy transportation • Easy dismounting and new use • Industrialization possibilities • Adaptability to the site The school units are classified according the number of classrooms with can vary from 4 (four) to 16 (sixteen). The expansions where studieds according to each categorie of building. The feasibility of the constructive system was analized and aproved by USIMINAS.

The PhD thesis deals with the characteristics of biogenic substance migration in the Lithuanian riverbank sediments and its impact on the river water quality. Six catchments of rivers with different dominant sediments, located in different hydro-logic areas of Lithuania, were selected as the object of the research. Such object selection allows to apply the results of the work to any catchment of a Lithuanian river. The aim of the thesis is to establish the characteristics of the migration of biogenic substances in sediments, ground and surface waters, taking into considera-tion climatic and geomorphological conditions of the river catchment, in order to evaluate the change in the concentration of biogenic substances in riverbank aeration zone of different sediments as well as its impact on the quality of the river water. Analytical, field investigations and experimental studies as well as mathematical modelling were applied in the work to evaluate the patterns of the change of concentration of biogenic substances in river catchments and riverbank areas. Investigation of benthic algae communities were carried out in the rivers of different water quality during the period 2004–2006. In total, 61 taxa were identified during this research. They belong to 5 divisions (Cyanobacteria, Rhodophyta, Xantophyta, Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta), 6 classes (Cyanophyceae, Florideophyceae, Xantophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Conjugatophyceae) and 17 orders (Chroococcales, Oscillatoriales, Nostocales, Acrochaetiales, Batrachospermales, Hildenbrandiales, Tribonematales, Vaucheriales, Centrales, Pennales, Microsporales, Oedogoniales, Chaetophorales, Ulotrichales, Cladophorales, Tetrasporales, Zygnematales). In the rivers of different water quality the biggest variety of species belongs to cyanobacteria (Cyanobacteria) and green-algae (Chlorophyta). There were detected 25 and 19 species respectively, which accordingly constitutes 41 % and 31.1 % of the whole number of species. The variety of other species were less rich: diatom (Bacillariophyta) - 8 (13.1 %), red-algae (Rhodophyta) - 7 (11.5 %) and yellow-algae (Xantophyta) - 2 (3.3 %). During the study was mentioned that benthic algae distribution are different in the rivers of different water quality (II, III, IV and unknown water quality classes). The cross-rate of taxonomy in those rivers are similar. Bachelor’s final work, Tauragė town influence on pollution of rivers the Jūra and the Šešuvis. The subject of the research- to assess Tauragė town and surface rainfall influence on water quality of rivers the Jūra and the Šešuvis. The current status of rivers is described in the theoretical part of this work. A diagnosis is given of the main pollution sources of rivers the Jūra and the Šešuvis in Tauragė. Opportunities how to improve water quality of these rivers are discussed at the end of this work. Pollution of rivers the Jūra and the Šešuvis is analysed in the practical part of the research. Samples were taken at six locations: two samples were taken above the town, two- in the town and two- outside the town. pH, suspended matter (SM) content, BDS7, total means of nitrogen and phosphorus concentration were measured. A diagnosis was given that pH ranged from 7,8 to 8,2; total nitrogen in water of river the Jūra was increased, but didn’t exceed the DKL. Total phosphorus levels ranged from 0,083 to 0,133 mg/l. Total phosphorus levels in river the Šešuvis were below standards. Oil products didn’t exceed the DLK values in both rivers. After raining amount of oil products rose slightly. Suspended matters in both rivers ranged from 38 to 63 mg/l. After raining suspended matters exceeded the DKL value. Study of the UPCF applied to long lines O avanço da eletrônica de potência e de sua aplicação em Sistemas Elétricos de Potência proporcionaram uma nova tecnologia denominada FACTS - Flexilble AC Transmission Systems . Sob o conceito FACTS, encontram-se encontram-se equipamentos para a compensação da potência reativa, regulação de tensão e controle estático e dinâmico do fluxo de potência ativa em linhas de transmissão. Os equipamentos FACTS atualmente pesquisados vêm apresentando novas perspectivas de controle para os sistemas de potência até então não verificadas com o uso de compensadores convencionais. Dentre os equipamentos FACTS pesquisados está o Compensador Generalizado. O Compensador Generalizado oferece a possibilidade de um controle simultâneo e independente do fluxo de Potência ativa e das tensões nas barras do sistema. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é analisar o funcionamento do Compressor Generalizado em regime permanente aplicado a linhas longas. É avaliado sua situação operando numa linha de 2400 km. Dois casos extremos foram abordados: compensação sob carga nominal e compensação sob rejeição de carga. Os resultados obtidos com o Compensador Generalizado foram comparados com os resultados prévios obtidos através de uma compensação realizada com o uso de capacitores série e reatores em derivação. Desta forma, foram verificadas as vantagens oferecidas pelo Compensador Generalizado em relação a outros equipamentos e as possibilidades oferecidas aos sistema de transmissão face às novas alternativas de controle de fluxo de potência proporcionadas.
The improvement of power electronics and its application in Power Systems introduced a new technology denominated FACTS - Flexible AC Transmission Systems. The FACTS concept includes equipment for reactive compensation, voltage regulation and static and dynamic control of the active power flow in transmission lines. The FACTS equipment under recent researches is showing new perspectives for power systems controlling, which were not achieved with conventional compensators. Among the researched FACTS equipment, there is the Unified Power Flow Controller. The UPFC provides a simultaneous and independent control of the active power flow and the voltages in the system. The main objective of this study is to analyze the steady state operation of the UPFC applied to long lines, specially the case fo a 2400 km line. Two extreme cases are discussed: compensation under rated load and compensation under load rejection. The obtained results with the UPFC are compared with previous results from a compensation performed with series capacitors and shunt reactors. Thus, this study presents the advantages of the UPFC in regard of other equipment and the possibilities offered to the transmission systems due to the new provided alternatives for power flow controlling.

The researches of water quality are made by regional Departments of Environment Protection of Ministry of Environment. In watershed of the Mūša were analysed samples of water taken at upwards and downwards the river from cities, agricultural spheres of influence, influx of the river and at the border of Republic of Lithuania. According to chemical-physical parameters of the Mūša watershed, in period of1997 - 2004 year, water in the most of watershed rivers was polluted. Water in the Kulpė( downwards Šiauliai) and the Obelė (downwards Radviliškis) was heavily polluted with nitric and phosphatic compounds; The Kulpė (at influx),the Mūša (downwards the Kulpė) – nitric and phosphatic;the Lėvuo(at influx) – only phosphatic. Only in some rivers degression of pollution was detected. There is a large difference between concentrations of pollution in the samples taken upwards and downwards the city. Agricultural landed property pollutes water with nitric, phosphatic compounds and organic substances. According to theoretical methods of calculation, the largest amount of anthropogenic load to soil caused by human goes to districts of Šiauliai, Radviliškis and Pasvalys. The anthropogenic load to soil caused by animals is observed in districts of Pasvalys, Pakruojis and Radviliškis. The largest anthropogenic load to soil caused by human and animals can be found in Pasvalys and Pakruojis districts, the least – in Šiauliai district. The main objective of this work was to investigate the effect of hydromorphological features of the rivers and invasive species to the molluscs community structure. The selected rivers were: Babrungas, Lakaja, Peršokšna, Verknė and Žeimena. In these rivers mollusc abundance, biomass, biodiversity and dominance were examined. What is more, the laboratory experiment was made to check the influence of infestation of Dreissena polymorpha on Unio pictorum mussel somatic growth. Durind the study, 31 species of freshwater molluscs were found in 5 examined rivers. The bigest species richness was found in a coldwater river Verknė (22 species) and the lowest – in warmwater river Lakaja (7 species). First time in a freshwaters of Lithuania, invasive species Potamopyrgus antipodarum was found in a lake Vilkokšnis and Verknė river. The hypothesis, that dreissena is most abundant near the outfall and decreases in the continuum of the rivers was tested. The most significant effect of Dreissena polymorpha to the mollusc communities was found to be near the outfall of the rivers, where its abundance and biomass are biggest. This effect declines, because zebra mussel abundance and biomass decreases in the continuum of the river. In this thesis, the UPFC (Unified Power Flow Controller) various capabilities and effects for possible network applications, are studied. Although its structure is relatively more complex, when compared to the other FACTS controllers, its fast response and versatility can justify its application within the network. By utilising the orthogonal co-ordinates transform both the steady-state and transient mathematical models of the UPFC, are presented herein. Based on the results obtained and regarding the applications studied, it can be stated that the UPFC series voltage along with its phase angle play an important role for the fast and efficient control of the power flow. As a contribution of the present work, it has been proposed the connection of the shunt converter to the tertiary winding of autotransformers, demonstrating in this way the feasibility for controlling the power flow over such transforming assets. The proposed scheme, which regards two paralleled transformers, offers the UPFC a high operation availability increasing the system operative flexibility in actual implementations. By means of the proposed approach, the shunt coupling transformer, usually utilised in a classical UPFC configuration, presents a reduced size. Also, by utilising the UPFC control actions, it has been examined the possibility of short-circuit limitation over balanced and unbalanced circuits. Particularly, it has been analysed the UPFC most efficient performance towards line-to-ground faults. The satisfactory results obtained lead to consider the UPFC feasibility in limiting such currents; this, as an interesting by-product of this FACTS device action.

Backgrounds: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common disease in clinical. When the bacterium starting from urethra and go through the urinary tract, and forming a high incidence of progress into urosepsis. Many animal models of UTI have been established but none of them mentions the urosepsis has been induced. During the first phase of this study, we developed a novel urosepsis animal model by clinical UPEC strains via UTI. Nowadays UTIs clinical treatment is usually treated with antibiotics, but antibiotic-resistant strains of UPEC have starting to emerge. So finding novel agents to treat antibiotic-resistant strains infections has become a priority. Bacteriophage could be a great potential substitution treatment for antibiotic-resistant strains infections. The second phase of this study was to isolate and characterize phage that might be used in prevention and treatment of UTI caused by UPEC Materials and Methods: To execute the first phase, first of all the clinical isolated UPEC GFP transformed strain was prepared to infect via urinary tract of Wistar-Kyoto rats. After injected GFP-UPEC 1×109 CFU in 1 ml LB through their urethra using catheter, rats central body temperatures were measured continuously and the WBC were counted at 0, 6, 12 and 24 hr as well, followed by sacrificed at 48hr. Organ samples include kidney, liver, lung and small intestine were removed immediately after sacrificed and were fixed 48hr in 10% buffered formaldehyde, stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and detected by fluorescence microscope to determine the GFP-UPEC location in organs. The second phase bacteriophage was been isolate from environment, we will do some tests, host range analysis, one-step growth curve, phage adsorption and electron microscopy, to characterize the bacteriophage. Results: After UPEC strain been injected to the bladder, rats central body temperature had risen up and WBC was elevated gradually and peaked on the 24hr after infection. In addition, biopsy results presents many GFP-UPEC were found in kidney, liver, lung, and small intestine, indicated the bacteria could translocate when urosepsis was happened. On host analysis 521 UPEC strains 142 strains were been infected. One-step growth curve of bacteriophage UPEC, burst size averaged 200 PFU per infected cell after 25 min. Adsorption of bacteriophage to UPEC, approximately 73% were adsorbed at 8 min post-infection. On TEM It revealed a non-contractile tail and an icosahedral head, a morphology characteristic of members of the family Siphoviridae. Conclusion: Sepsis can define when presence systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) caused by bacterial infection. In this study, after the injection there are two criteria which is accord to the standard of SIRS, first the average temperature is above 38°C, second the WBC is at high level >12×109/L (>12,000/mm³). Moreover, we observe bacterial translocation through biopsy at kidney, liver, lung, and small intestine using GFP-tagged. In summary, we demonstrate a novel urosepsis animal model in this study and shown that a bacteriophage able to lyse UPEC isolates.

Methods of recycling unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (uPVC) window frame waste were investigated. The quality of untreated granular waste was compared to that of waste treated by a range of contaminant removal processes including melt filtration and dissolution. Processability of each recyclate was evaluated by using a highly instrumented single screw extruder that enabled melt viscosity and process variation to be monitored in real time. Product quality measurements such as mechanical properties and surface defects were made on extruded strip, and the nature of the stabilizers present was determined. The mechanical properties of recyclates were found to be comparable to or better than those of virgin material in all cases and conformed to industry standards for window profile. Contaminant removal stages significantly reduced the amount of large surface defects detected in extrudate. Processability was comparable to that of virgin compounds, but melt viscosity varied among different batches of recyclate, depending on the source and composition of the original PVC formulation.
